free idea: the corinthian arranges to meet hob on like grindr or picks him up at a bar and takes him home because he just has to see who this random guy is who’s been keeping dream coming back for centuries—and it’s not like dream is doing anything about it anyway. the corinthian will enjoy where dream won’t let himself indulge. he asks hob if he’s married or has a boyfriend and hob is just like, “there’s someone but…that’s not going to happen. so. let’s do this” so they’re hooking up and it’s fine but hob has developed a radar for weird shit after being alive so long and he’s increasingly uncomfortable and “i think you should go” while the corinthian becomes more and more charmingly menacing until he’s like “how do you think it will feel to live forever after i’ve taken out your eyes?” and hob tries to fight him but, like, nightmare, but then all of a sudden dream is there because he’s been having matthew watch over hob, and dream like flings the corinthian across the room and against the wall in his fury and the corinthian looks up from the ground grinning like, “what’re you going to do, unmake me for touching your little human toy?” and dream is just a seething maelstrom and snaps “you’re going to wish i unmade you” as he banishes the corinthian back into the dreaming to deal with later. and hob is just sitting there like. what. in the fuck. he’s seen a lot in his lifetime but that was. um. when dream turns to face him dream still looks outraged and hob is afraid he did something wrong, but then another blink and dream is beside him, framing his face between his hands, his eyes on hob’s. and dream is like, “i thought it would be safer for you if i never—but that was foolish. all of the dreaming surely knows about you by now, because i am the dreaming, and i have not been able to stop the way that i feel” and hob is like “the what now” but this is promising so he just goes with it, leaning into dream’s hands, reaching for what he’s wanted for so long. and dream kisses him, and it’s better than anything, better than realizing he could never die, worth living and dying for. hob tries to pull dream into his lap but once he’s there dream narrows his eyes. dream says, “did he kiss you?” and slowly hob nods. “show me everywhere he touched,” dream demands, and it wasn’t like they’d gotten very far, but hob draws his collar away from his neck and bares his throat, takes one of dream’s hands and runs it up under his shirt, across his chest. and then dream dives down, open-mouthed, to reclaim those places, and then to claim all of hob as his; and anyway that’s how the corinthian accidentally helps dream and hob get together

Okay, huge au, but: loyal Corinthian coming for Dream in the fishbowl and it's him getting shot instead of Jessamy. (If we are mean, he doesn't die from it)
You know I was thinking yesterday about a fishbowl rescue AU where the Corinthian at first is like "HELL YEAH suck it Lord Morpheus" but then he starts to feel like, if Dream isn't swooping in to tell him he's been a Very Bad Boy then it's no fun? And maybe he feels a little guilty?
So he seeks out Hob, to help him rescue Dream. Hob is of course neither meek nor mild and has the Corinthian at knife point before he can even say hello and that is. QUITE the turn on but they do not have time for this (according to Hob, Corinthian doesn't feel they're on any particular deadline, just that they should probably get him back).
Anyway they rock up to the Burgess estate and Corinthian is Known There and introduces Hob as an accomplished occultist and they're by this point doing a kind of buddy cop routine and anyway that gets them straight into the basement where they're both happy to maim first, ask questions later (Dream wouldn't like it if they actually killed anyone, Corinthian reports sadly. Hob is also disappointed).
They get Dream out and it's only been like a week so he would largely be coherent except that he's not sure whether the bigger surprise is Hob or the Corinthian tbh.
Corinthian like "you owe Hob an apology"
Hob defending the Corinthian when Dream's like "I should unmake you???"
Dream very confused because he did NOT expect the two of them to get along but now they're ganging up on him and they are. Possibly. Right. About things like Other People Having Feelings.
Anyway Hob wraps him in his coat and they all go back to his flat for a strong cup of tea with a lot of sugar in it and Dream quickly discovers that there are TWO problem children who love him and unfortunately get along and he's very fucked.
(He's unhappy about this until he's being literally fucked at which point his opinion of the situation improves dramatically because oh, oh he's very loved as it turns out.)

BURBANK, CA (July 9, 2019)—Last year DC launched the Sandman Universe, a series of books curated by legendary author Neil Gaiman, bringing in new creative voices to expand the mythos of the Dreaming. Today DC announces a new addition to this universe starring the infamous John Constantine. It all begins October 30 with a special one-shot issue, THE SANDMAN UNIVERSE PRESENTS HELLBLAZER #1 from writer Simon Spurrier and artist Marcio Takara, followed by the ongoing series JOHN CONSTANTINE, HELLBLAZER from Spurrier and artist Aaron Campbell this November.
“Year One was just the start. Now you get to inhabit the worlds, books, and houses we built for you,” says Gaiman. “I was thrilled when I was told that John Constantine—the original, demon-haunted one who first showed up in SWAMP THING’s “American Gothic” story—is coming back to his murky and dangerous roots. More magic and more darkness and not a few gods and dreams are here for you to explore.”
In THE SANDMAN UNIVERSE PRESENTS HELLBLAZER #1, the story begins in a moment originally seen in Gaiman’s miniseries THE BOOKS OF MAGIC. John Constantine finds himself haggard, bloody, and dying in an epic magical war—a battle that will soon consume the world. As he lies there, the vision of a young Tim Hunter stands above him, the naive youth seeing firsthand what his destiny holds. Horrified, Hunter flees back into the past, and Constantine is left behind to die.
Now, years later, Constantine reemerges, physically un-aged but with all of his memories intact—and yet the world has passed him by. Constantine must now fathom a new world torn apart by the same old political and social woes, while attempting to discover how he returned after all this time. But most troubling of all are the rumors of a new young magician named Tim Hunter, a boy destined to be either the greatest sorcerer of all, or the greatest threat to the world. If history is repeating itself, then is it John’s role to die all over again? Or is John here to stop the cycle—and stop Tim Hunter?
“HELLBLAZER’s the one title I’ve always aspired to write. Ever since John Constantine slunk from Alan Moore’s brain into SWAMP THING, dropping secrets like grenades, bewildering vegetables, and spinning mysteries, I’ve been drawn to his misadventures with eerie gravity,” says Spurrier. “John Constantine is the cynic’s magician: a man of selfish drives and cataclysmic self-knowledge, who tries to do the right thing in spite of himself, in spite of the cost, in spite of the vile and violent world he occupies. He may not be the hero we need, but he’s definitely the bastard we deserve.
“In this new era, everything is different. Everyone and everything he loved and knew is dead or despises him. Alone, angry, older, and wiser, he beholds a world that is clearlygoing insane. The shadows are deeper than ever. So he does what he does. He breathes smoke. He grins to himself. And he goes to work.”
Following the special issue, Spurrier and Campbell will continue Constantine’s story in the pages of JOHN CONSTANTINE, HELLBLAZER, available November 27. November will also kick off new arcs in THE DREAMING, BOOKS OF MAGIC, LUCIFER, and HOUSE OF WHISPERS.
In THE DREAMING from Spurrier and Bilquis Evely, the sentient algorithm known as Wan has taken full control of the kingdom of Dream—but who created him? And did they put him on Dream’s throne for a purpose? Abel thinks he may be on the verge of uncovering that secret and hopes to tell Matthew the Raven what he knows, but Wan has a dangerous side…and while the mysterious Dora might be able to help them fight back, she’s quite busy in the waking world learning the truth about her own past—a truth that might unmake her entirely.
In HOUSE OF WHISPERS from Nalo Hopkinson, Dan Watters and Dominike “Domo” Stanton, Erzulie is grieving the loss of one of her husbands, while her remaining spouses ask themselves if they can remain by her side. But in the darkness, a rival has arrived to vie for Erzulie’s place as the newest master of a House in the Dreaming; the Corinthian has his eyes on a forgotten piece of real estate in the Dreaming, and he’s not above moving into a fixer-upper, if taking control of it can give him power like Erzulie’s. To fend off this threat, Erzulie will need allies – including the mysterious Papa Midnite, and the dangerous Shakpana, the contagious god whose last outbreak nearly destroyed the world. And with friends like those…
In LUCIFER from Watters, Max Fiumara, and Sebastian Fiumara, Lucifer is reeling from his standoff against God and the forces of Heaven, and he finds himself wandering the English countryside neglecting his cosmic responsibilities and attempting to build a new life—and home—for himself. Of course, any house built by Lucifer is bound to be a little piece of Hell on Earth…as his first dinner guests, John Constantine included, will learn. But elsewhere, ancient and powerful forces are conspiring against Lucifer. There is a wailing and gnashing of teeth upon the Earth. There is rage and violence in the hearts of men and beasts alike. For every thousand years the Wild Hunt must ride, and tear out the heart of a god…and this time, the black bone horn blows for Lucifer.
And in BOOKS OF MAGIC from Kat Howard and Tom Fowler, Tim Hunter has just made the most fateful (and possibly catastrophic) decision of his young life, but as a result, he’s feeling quite confident about the kind of magician he’s going to become…until John Constantine comes knocking on his door, determined to kill the young man who’s clearly starting down a road that leads to the planet’s destruction. There’s no guarantee Tim’s worst self will ever take over…but can Constantine afford to take that chance? And now that Tim’s secret is starting to get out at school, can he ever expect to return to a normal life again?
The first collected editions of THE DREAMING, HOUSE OF WHISPERS, LUCIFER, and BOOKS OF MAGIC are available in comics shops and bookstores everywhere this month.

so i was wondering what it might take for hob to actually safeword (and also i have not stopped thinking about my fleshlight ask whoops) and actually i think there's potential there for some uh smutty hurt/comfort? like hob's loving it and he's crying but the corinthian has a solid grasp of what humiliated but turned on looks like from hob. but when he's getting close and starts talking about how he's going to come in hob's nice new pussy hob starts getting actually distressed. corinthian asks for a colour (because dream will unmake him for good this time if he hurts hob, definitely not because he actually cares kind of a lot about this human, shut up) and hob eventually manages to sob out a yellow.
once hob gets a little bit of cuddling he manages to explain that he was liking everything, really, and it's silly and he didn't mean to get upset, it's just-- well, he wants to be good, doesn't he. he wants to be useful, and he wants to be owned, and something about the idea of the corinthian coming in a toy instead of in him, because he's not good enough, just... really got to him.
so of course the corinthian offers to get back to it, but he promises that he'll take the toy out and come in hob instead. and he does, and tells hob that one of these days his hole is gonna be wrecked enough that he'll be able to fit his whole hand along with his cock and he'll be able to jerk off inside him, and hob's right back to happy embarrassed tears. and then the corinthian shoves the fleshlight back in, nice and slick now that hob's got a load of come in him, and teases hob because what, he thought they were done already?
(hob realizes a couple days later that the fleshlight's missing from his toy drawer, and instead there's a new one that's even bigger but this one's open at both ends. next time the corinthian can come right through the toy and fill hob up properly. not that the corinthian cares about him or anything.)
-🐈‍⬛
Oh boy you know I love the ole smut n angst combo. Hob is my blorbo, i love seeing him crying <3
I may have mentioned before that I think Hob is soooo desperate to be useful, it plays into a lot of the kinks I imagine for him. So it totally figures that feeling useless kinda triggers a not so fun headspace. He doesn't mind being called every nasty name under the sun, but the idea of being useless/replaceable just makes him downright sad. He probably tries really hard not to show that he doesn't feel so good bc he doesn't want to ruin the scene (people pleaser Hob my beloved). But the Corinthian is like the world's most experienced sadist, so he just knows straight away. Which is good bc Hob seems like he'd be really into the importance of safewords, except for himself. He feels like he should be able to cope with anything.
BUT I think Cori probably does give amazing hugs when it's extremely necessary. Hob isn't allowed to tell anyone about the cuddling but he doesn't mind because it's nice to know that the Corinthian does actually (really) care about him.
Also. The idea of the Corinthian jerking off into Hob’s gaping hole... omfg that's some seriously hot shit <3
