Guys this is so exciting!! The show is TWO WHOLE HOURS!!! WE GET AN INTERVAL!!

I think it’s just hitting me that this is a proper production not just a 1 hour performance at a convention this is very very exciting

(And also useful but mostly exciting)

Oh also just to point out for people: this definitely means they won’t be stage dooring. Only 3 hours between matinee and evening which includes a m&g and after the evening show they’ll be knackered so please don’t expect them to hang around stage door ❤️

I've genuinely just had the best evening of my life I cannot explain. I didn't think i'd have achieved all my goals by 26 but having just seen some starkid performed live I can say that I now have.

I remember not being allowed to travel up to London to see them when they came to LeakyCon in 2013 and it just feels like such a full circle moment.

The crowd went absolutely wild for every starkid song as well so I'm really hoping they take that as a sign to do a proper concert here some day

summer sunday snippets (v4)

Finally got a bit (and I mean a bit) of writing done today after the whole Leakycon + Covid compounding situation, so here's a teeny tiny bit from that post-5th year fic I'm TRYING to get out this month (tentatively titled Saturday Night's Alright)

She’s wallowing.

She’s in London on a Saturday night in the summer and she’s wallowing over her Butterbeer.

Lily’s tucked off to the side of the pub, predictably raucous with the weekend crowd, her eyes are fixated on the carbonated bubbles that rise and pop when she moves her glass. What had seemed like such a good idea before her ride on the Knight Bus (Pros: Get out of Petunia’s apartment, enjoy London for the night) had immediately soured the second she stood before the dilapidated Leaky Cauldron sign (Cons: What if I run into someone from school, what if I look pathetic sitting by myself).

She’d made the trip though—and was feeling quite a bit queasy from it—so she supposed she’d stay at least for a bit.

Do you remember, maybe this was some sort of convention starkid was at, soon after twisted, and Joey answered a question, maybe about twisted, and then someone shouted from the audience something like “you weren’t in twisted” and then Lauren defended him? Anyone know what I’m talking about??

you've helped me sing

Simply put, I would not be who I am today without John, Hank and the Nerdfighter community. When I stumbled across ‘Accio Deathly Hallows’ while procrastinating in 2007, I fell headfirst into a rabbit hole of nerdery that I could never have anticipated or dreamed up.

John and Hank, through their books, music and videos, have taught me many valuable lessons - to imagine people complexly, never to assume anything about anyone I don't know, how anglerfish reproduce, and (most importantly) never to kill baby Hitler.

They've made me laugh, they've made me cry (looking at you, John) and they've made me sing. And that's what's changed me the most.

All my life, I have loved to sing, but I never had the courage to do it in front of anyone - even my parents - until I became a part of the Nerdfighter community.

I firmly believe that without the support, kindness and encouragement of friends I met at LeakyCon London through Nerdfighteria, I never would have.

I'd love to be able to type here that I'm starring in a West End show or something, but sadly that's something that doesn't come to anyone without a lot more hard work and auditioning than I have been able to do in a year.

But at least I'm on the road to that, and I'm happier than I've ever been as a result.

So thanks to John and Hank, and thanks to the Nerdfighters. You have made me smarter, you've made me a better person, and you've helped me sing. I couldn't have done it without you.

So it's obviously been a very exciting week for British starkids (understatement of the year) and I hope you're all looking forward to May as much as I am

Honestly this all happened so fast I still can't quite believe it's happening!

Anyway, I've seen loads of people sharing their excitement/saying they want to connect with other people who are going etc and I thought it would be nice to create a space for us to connect/share ideas/build hype etc

So that's what this is

If you ever want to find other people who are attending, share your perfect setlist, discuss outfit ideas, or just scream with excitement then this is the place to do it

As an intro, Hi, I'm Ella and I've been a fan of starkid since 2011. I was lucky enough to see starkid at leakycon London in 2013 and since about 2017 had given up any hope of them ever performing here again so currently living in a bit of a daze. Oh and I'll be in the stalls at the matinee

Hai I'm a star baby (I just really got into starkid like a month ago, though the first starkid musical I watched was Firebringer cause the meme)- any videos you specifically recommend? (I've seen almost all of the shows, plus some of the tin can bros and poe party, a couple of livestreams and fan videos) (P.S. I saw your ravenclaw pics- I've been following ravenclaw headcannons for years- and you're so pretty :))

The Lizzie Bennet Diaries: A modern retelling of Pride and Prejudice where Lizzie is a vlogger. Funny, fresh, 10/10 would recommend (stars Mary Kate Wiles and Ashley Clements)

School of Thrones: GoT parody set in a high school approaching prom season. Nothing groundbreaking but pretty short and good fun if you’re a GoT fan (stars Joey Richter and Mary Kate Wiles)

World’s Worst Musical: Guy is trying to write a musical but can only come up with really shitty ideas for a plot. Lots of catchy numbers with lots of Starkids (stars Jaime Lyn Beatty, Lauren Lopez, Jeff Blim and more)

Concerts and Conventions:

Apocalyptour: Starkid’s best concert imo. Great production value with proper costumes and a fun plot running throughout the show. Takes a lot of Starkid classics and puts a new spin on them, plus this recording is fairly decent 

Leakycon London (2013): Just a quintessential Starkid set. Hits up all the classics you’d expect from a convention performance. Doesn’t really do anything new but it’s really well filmed and (I may be biased cause I was there) the atmosphere is electric

Geekycon Orlando (2015): When you’re seeing Starkid perform at a convention you’re basically expecting the London set with a few alterations depending on who’s there. But this set Starkid went fucking WILD. They really mixed it up this time and it’s great. Includes classics like ‘4 minute going back to hogwarts’

I’d also recommend the SPACE tour and Starkid Takes Manhattan but honestly it’s a mare trying to find good footage of the whole show
