I stood on the stage, carefully striking a delicate pose as I waited for the spotlight to turn on. I was a soloist, performing a cover of Magnetic by my favorite kpop group, Illit, at a multigroup event. I was thrilled that they gave me permission to.

Suddenly the light turned on, brightly lighting up the stage and the light shining on my bright pink baby doll dress, making me stand out from my background dancers who were adorned with white.

I threw a quick glance at the audience of thousands of people, as they erupted into cheers, looking around for the one person I wanted to see, the one that stood out the most to me out of all the TxT members.

He was right in the front row with all the other Kpop groups or soloists that were performing today.

Wonyoung and Rei, from IVE, who were sitting next to them, gave me reassuring smiles, a thumbs up from Wonyoung, and a heart from Rei. I smiled a little because of them and got myself ready.

The music turned on and I realized what time it was, as the familiar thrilling fear of performance washed over me.

I turned to the audience from my pose on the side, and placed a finger over my ear monitor mic, starting.

“Baby, I'm just trying to play it cool,” I cutely said, looking directly at Kai, “But I just can't hide that I want you.”

His other members spotted the interaction and immediately started teasing him, especially Beomgyu.

“Wait a minute, 이게 뭐지?” I said, starting to dance, carefully making sure all my footwork was completed, “내 심장이 lub-dub, 자꾸만 뛰어,”

I shifted my glance from Kai to the drone camera in front of me for a moment as it was recording, and Leeseo caught my vision, as she mouthed ‘wink.’

“저 멀리서도, oh, my, gosh,” I smiled, winking at him, as my background vocals chimed in, “끌어당겨, you're my crush, 초능력처럼”

I remembered a previous thing that Liz told me prior to the performance while doing my makeup backstage.

“Make sure to work on those expressions,” She said, dabbing some concealer under my eyes, “Make ‘em as cute as you can!”

“거대한 자석이 된 것만 같아 my heart.” I said, with a seemingly cute pout.

“네 모든 게 내 맘에 달라붙어버려, boy, we're magnetized, 인정할게,”

This is when the stage lights started to hurt my eyes, and I glanced at the stage manager

In my view, blinking twice to quickly signal that the lights need to be toned down.

I breathed in deeply, getting ready for the chorus, the lights dimming down to a soft yellow color and shining on just where I was, instead of the whole stage so that my background dancers wouldn’t be seen.

“This time, I want,” I sang, with as much emotion and charisma as I could possibly get out of me, “You, you, you, you, like it's magnetic!”

Please, please, notice me. I thought, and just at that moment the person I’d been focusing all my attention on had finally caved in, covering his face with his hands as he got teased mercilessly by the rest of his group, which I found hilarious.

“You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, super 이끌림” I said, focusing intently on the hand motions that took me ages to get and how I scratched myself in the process multiple times. “You, you, you, you, like it's magnetic You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, super 이끌림”

‘Oh my god’ I thought, ‘His smile is the only thing keeping me from running off this stage right now,’

I put all my emotion into dancing during the chorus, the audience, along with you-know-who, chiming into singing it, with a lot more enthusiasm than I expected for a song that wasn’t mine.

“Baby, don't say no!” I chirped, my voice cracking slightly from the improper breath control that I didn’t recover from while dancing, and I made a mental note to properly take the breaths after the next chorus, and continued like it never happened. The lights turned brightly on again, but it was okay, my eyes didn’t hurt now. “정반대 같아 our type, 넌 J, 난 완전 S와 N 극이지만, 그래서 끌리지”

In my personal opinion, I really should have paid more attention to what Illit was doing from the beginning. Actually, that was a bad, bad idea. If I’d stared at them any longer, I would probably have burst out laughing. They kept making funny versions of the dance moves and mocking me in a way that close friends do.

“내가 만들래 green light, 여잔 배짱이지” I was a little tired at this point, but, oh well, “So let's go, let's go, let's go, let's go.”

‘Pre-chorus time!’, I thought, glancing back at Kai.

“숨기고 싶지 않아 자석 같은 my heart.” I said, as I winked again, “내 맘의 끌림대로 너를 향해 갈게, boy”

Suddenly, Wony leaned over closely and whispered something in his ear, making him somewhat blush. A tinge of jealousy washed over me.

“We're magnetized, 인정할게” I sang, shutting my eyes tightly for a moment, it was probably a misunderstanding, and that’s not what I should be focused on. I needed to still carry on, “This time, I want, You, you, you, you, like it's magnetic! You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, super 이끌림.”

They were talking and giggling like they were close friends and I absolutely hated it. I know she only means well, but still, it hurts to see one of your best friends talking to the guy you liked.

‘You, you, you, you, like it's magnetic.” I sang, the jumping movements always are the fun ones, “You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, super 이끌림”

I’m going to push through this performance no matter what!

“No push and pull, 전속력으로 너에게 갈게” I sang, my background vocals coming in with “in a rush, in a rush”

The taller girl suddenly pointed at me, and Kai smiled, looking at me and then quickly at Wony again. I was burning with anger hidden behind a happy face.

“Our chemistry, 난 과몰입해 지금 순간에.” I said, pointing nowhere in particular, but sort of in the general direction of him, and mouthed with my background vocals, “Baby, you're my crush, you're my crush.”

And contrary to the beginning of the performance, he was indifferent to what I just sang directly at him, the most subtle hint I’d ever given in my entire career.

“No push and pull, 네게 집중 후회는 안 할래.” Tears stung my eyes, and I tried to blink them away, but they lingered in my eyes for longer than I intended, blurring my vision. I looked away from them and my gaze ran through the audience, and the cameras, and other groups that I really should have been giving my attention to this whole time. I didn’t, and wasn’t planning to look at them for the rest of the performance. “Never holding back, 직진해, yeah”

I paused for a moment, taking a deep breath, as two background dancers briefly lifted me up, “This time, I want, you, you, you, you, like it's magnetic! You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, super 이끌림” Doing the special choreo for the end of the song, “You, you, you, you, like it's magnetic, You, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, super 이끌림”

I pushed myself to the limit, through the chorus, showing the world as much emotion, energy and love through this last bit of performance as I could. After all, I needed to distract myself. “Like it’s magnetic!”

The electric chorus continued and I harmonized with it, as I saw Wony and Kai had disappeared somewhere, and I didn’t know where. But at this point, that didn’t matter to me, the only thing that did matter was that I finished this performance, and got off this stage without breaking down.

“Baby, don’t say no!” I finished, striking the ending pose, and holding the pose for a few seconds, before the music stopped, my background dancers dispersed, and the lights went back to normal. The crowd immediately started cheering, and finally the haze of being in a performance went away, as I returned to reality. “Thank you, everybody!” I said, walking off stage, and into the backstage.

Once I had safely gotten off the stage and made my way down, I was greeted by a lot of the idols performing soon, or whoever was backstage for whatever reason, and their congratulations.

“Oh. My. God,” Wonhee gushed, “You were literally so cute up there. I have no regrets letting you do the song, that was amazing!”

I saw Wonyoung and Kai in the background and averted my gaze from them, ignoring them.

“You said it,” Moka said, slightly pushing Wonhee aside, and wrapping me in a hug, “Your cover of the song opened up another perspective to us, it was so cool!”

“Also, the fact that your breath control was better than most of us,” A voice said from behind me, “Your vocals were so stable.”

“Oh!” I exclaimed, turning around on my heel, “Jungwon, hi! I didn’t think Enhyphen was performing today! It’s great to see you!”

“Great to see you too,” He said, walking near to the entrance to the stage which the rest of Enhyphen had gathered near, “And turns out at the last minute we’re performing. And we’re next. See you, little sis,”

“Oh, good luck!” I said, as they went up the stairs, “Bye!”

For the next ten minutes, I was being bombarded by Le Sserafim, NewJeans, and other groups or soloists.

“Hey, (Y/n)-” Kai started walking towards me, but I quickly turned away and started another conversation with Eunchae.

I finally managed to leave the room and went into the hallway where the dressing rooms were, and looked around, making sure nobody was around, popped a coin into the nearby vending machine and grabbed the grape soda that fell down, before sinking to the floor next to the a vending machine, and breaking down.

I tilted my head upwards to prevent my tears from overflowing, but it was too late, I was already crying.

Why was I even crying, I should have known this would happen. Of course the person I’d liked since I was eleven or twelve liked my friend. She was everything I wasn’t, of course. Tall, extremely slim, gorgeous, pale, mature. Of course he’d like the older girl, what makes me any special?

I gripped my hair as more tears of frustration rolled down my cheeks. I shut my blurry eyes tightly, and reached down to grab my can of soda. I popped open the cap and chugged the entire can in one go, the bubbliness of the soda stung the back of my throat, as I threw the empty can to the parallel end of the hallway with a scream of rage, as it clattered against the wall.

“Gosh, (Y/n).” I heard Kai’s voice say, as I quickly wiped away my tears and shut off my emotions completely, standing back up as he picked up the empty purple can, and approached me, his playful expression turning concerned once he saw that I’d been desperately trying to hide my face. “Wait, are you okay?”

on your first day at decelis high, you and your younger sister wonhee navigated the crowded halls with a mix of nerves and anticipation. your younger sister, wonhee, being the social butterfly that she is, easily found her place among a group of friends, leaving you alone at an empty table in the cafeteria.

the bustling cafeteria of decelis high hummed with the energy of students chatting and laughing, trays clattering against tables.

suddenly, your reverie was interrupted by the arrival of three figures who sauntered into the room with an air of confidence that demanded attention. jay, flanked by his best friends jake and sunghoon, scanned the room with lazy indifference until his gaze landed on you.

"check her out," jake muttered under his breath, nudging jay with a smirk.

jay's eyes lit up with mischief as he followed jake's gaze, his lips curling into a sly grin. "well, well, what do we have here?"

sunghoon raised an eyebrow in curiosity, his gaze flickering between jay and you. "new girl, huh? she's cute."

“what do you say, jay, if we give her a little decelis high welcome?” sunghoon snickers at jake’s comment.

the trio exchanged knowing glances before jay turned his attention back to you, a mischievous glint in his eyes. with a casual flick of his hand, he motioned towards you, his voice low but carrying across the room.

"hey, glasses, come join us," jay called out, his tone laced with a hint of challenge.

you looked up in surprise, your heart pounding in her chest as she met jay's intense gaze. unsure of what to expect, you hesitated for a moment before gathering your courage and said “i’m fine here, thanks for your offer.”

that was a first for jay, and as he looked around everyone was looking at your encounter, which made jay embarrassed. trying to avert the situation, jay sat down and started talking to you.

"new girl, huh? what's your name?" jay asked, his voice smooth and confident.

"lee y/n," you replied, feeling a flutter of nerves at the attention of the a guy.

"well, y/n, consider yourself lucky. you've just been graced with the presence of decelis high's finest," jay said with a smirk, gesturing to himself.

you couldn't help but roll your eyes at his arrogance, but there was something undeniably charming about him.

jay launched into a lively conversation, effortlessly keeping you entertained with stories about his various exploits. before i knew it, the bell signaling the end of lunch rang, and jay stood up, stretching languidly.

"so, y/n, there's a party tonight. you should come," he said casually, as if inviting you to a casual hangout.

you hesitated. this is a first for you, no one has ever invited you to anything, ever. especially the popular kid.

"i’ll think about it." you found myself saying, surprising yourself with the decision.

a genuine smile spread across jay's face, and he leaned in closer. "great. here’s the address." he hands you a piece of paper.

with that, he sauntered off back to his group of friends, looking back at you once more and winking. he and friends laughing as they walked away, leaving you with a whirlwind of conflicting emotions. what had you just gotten yourself into?

the rest of the day passed in a blur as you tried to focus on classes, but your mind kept drifting back to jay and the party tonight. you couldn't shake the feeling of excitement mixed with apprehension.

when the final bell rang, you found wonhee waiting for you outside your last class, bubbling over with excitement.

"guess what? i got invited to a sleepover tonight!" she exclaimed, her eyes shining with excitement.

"that's great, wonhee," you replied, forcing a smile despite the knot of nerves in your stomach.

as you walked home together, you couldn't shake the feeling that tonight was going to change everything. maybe your last year of high school might be different after all.

on the other hand, jay and his friends were chilling at sunghoon’s house, where the party’s going to be held.

“dude, are you sure new kid’s gonna show?” jake asked, looking up from his phone.

“i’m sure. i definitely charmed her during our encounter at the cafeteria just now.” jay smirked.

“she might show up, but what would she look like? it would be a bother to have a stuck pig at our first party of the semester.” sunghoon groaned, thinking about how you would show up.

“don’t worry my dudes, i know what im doing. she has potential.” jay assured his friends.

prompt : you thought being young and of color would bring you down out as the show went on it just help you make more friends

when the show started you were sure you would get evil edited. you weren’t any type of asian and so you stuck out like a sour thumb. so you thought your best hope was to just be the best all-rounder ever. that before you found out you were the youngest on the show. being fourteen.

after you danced to ‘im jelly baby’ by aoa cream the judges cooed. you titled you head and one of the laughed.

“ahh what’s wrong?”

“did I do bad..?”. you heard oohs and aahs.

“no no you just looked really cute”. you still looked worried prompting chanelle to translate to you. you nodded.

“I would hope I’m only fourteen”. you heard a loud gasp and when you turned to the judges there eyes were wide. as you went to sit down you were being pulled in all sorts of directions. you sat down next to chanelle and moka though since you were going to need the translating help. as you sat down moka pinched your cheek.

“your going to be what..? fifteen when you debut?”. you nodded as your legs rocked back and forth. in the episode subtitles immediately appeared.

“do you think you need any help?”. you nodded and wonhee urged you to show her. in the end product of episode two you got a lot of screen time because of the girl and yours interactions. as you performed you made a slight mistake. you slipped and then just decided to fuck it and go into a middle spilt.

the judges nodded along and the girls oohed. as you lined up your head was down.

“y/n-ah are you ok..?”. you shakes your head.

“I messed up in the middle I’m sorry”. you bowed and yunah rubbed your back as chanelle held your hand. the judge gasped.

“the spilt wasn’t in the choero”. you nodded and she clapped.

“it was good don’t worry”. you smiled as you sat down and yunah made sure everything was fine. as you sat in the locker room you tapped your feet waiting for someone to enter. when minju did you smiled. you loved her voice. minju gasped as your ran up and hugged her. you heard a scuff in the background.

“so I get no hug..”. you laughed as you ran to hug youngseo too. you tried to hold in your tears as the members got announced.

you crossed your fingers and closed your eyes shut.

“Yesss Y/n, your vocals are vocallingggg” Chanelle praised with a dramatic click of her fingers.

You had to cover your mouth to laugh. “You’re making me shy”

“What does vocalling mean?” Jiwoo asked as she scratched her head.

“It’s just a silly expression to say that Y/n’s vocals are super good” the half American explained.

Jiwoo slowly nodded her head. “So if I said her singing is singinging…”

“Mmm doesn’t work like that”

The two walked off as Chanelle tried explaining the phrase in a better way and Jeongeun followed them. You mentally patted yourself on the back just before an arm rested around your shoulder.

“Hey, beautiful” your girlfriend whispered closely in your ear.

You hid your face in her chest. An advantage for Youngseo because she was taller than you. “Hi, Youngie”

“Your vocals never fail to blow me away. I kept messing up in my group practice because I was focusing on you more” She giggled.

“Is that why I heard Moa Unnie scolding you?”

“Yep. It was hard finding an excuse”

“It better have been a good one” You playfully warned.

“Yah, what’s happening over here? Are you two a couple now or something?” Yunah teased while wrapping her long arms around you and Youngseo.

“We’re actually married. We made that official with our cheese rings last night” Youngseo replied smoothly.

“Last night? I would’ve wifed up Y/n the moment we met” Yunah winked at you, causing you to blush and hide in Youngseo’s chest again.

“Hey back off, she’s mine” You heard your girlfriend say in a tone that you couldn’t decipher.

Yunah laughed it off and ran away to annoy Minju who was eating Jihyun’s snacks. You pinched your girlfriend’s cheek as hard as you could.

“OW!”

Going on your tippy toes, your lips matched height with her ear. “You need to learn to control your emotions or else we’re gonna get caught”

“Ow ow ow im sorry! I didn’t like what she said” Youngseo whined before you released her now reddening cheek.

“Just don’t be too obvious, babe”

“Can I kiss you?”

“Youngseo…”

“It’ll be a quick one!”

You looked around the room and thankfully no one was paying attention to you or your whiny girlfriend. “Fine. But let’s go and get snacks. I’m kinda hungry”

Youngseo grabbed your hand and started walking towards the doors but Jiwoo stepped right in front to block your path.

“And where are you two going?”

“Just getting snacks” Youngseo replied happily.

“And you’re taking Y/n?”

“She was the one who asked me to go with her. Don’t worry Jiwoo Unnie, we’ll be back before you know it!”

Jiwoo sighed and stepped aside. “Alright. Bring me something back while you’re at it. Wonhee ate everything in my bag”

“No worries, Unnie. Bye~”

Your girlfriend continued to drag you down the halls where the vending machines were located. Your sparkling eyes scanned over the delicious chips and drinks provided.

Youngseo’s sparkling eyes, however, were all on you. Her arm went around your waist and her smile seemed to grow impossibly bigger than before. “You’re so pretty, Baby. Do you know that?”

Thank God for the air conditioner inside the building otherwise you would’ve melted to the ground by now. You covered your face and started squealing. “Stop it!”

“But I’m telling the truth. You’re beautiful and I’m so lucky to call you mine” she continued to say while she kissed your head. “Now which snacks would you like?”

You peeked through your fingers. “The spicy chips please”

“Alright…but give me kiss first” Youngseo quickly said and puckered her lips.

You held her cheeks and kneaded them like dough. “You’re so frustrating but so cute”

“Kiss kiss kiss~” she chanted a bit too loud that you jumped into kissing her on the lips.

It was strong enough to almost knock her down but she managed to keep her balance by squeezing your waist. You finished the kiss with 3 more pecks before you pulled away.

“There, can I get my chips now?”

“Mmm, there’s an extra kissing fee”

“For what?!”

“Because I’m your girlfriend and I need more kisses or else I’ll die”

“Stop being dramatic! We’re always together 24/7”

Youngseo pouted. “Just a few more and I won’t ask again”

Rolling your eyes, you kissed her gently this time. It let Youngseo savour the taste and warmth of your soft lips and the feeling of your small hands caress her nape.

Neither of you wanted the moment to end.

But a loud gasp caused you two to separate.

Chanelle stood there with her jaw slacked. “I-I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to interrupt—whatever is going on”

“Chanelle Unnie! I-I uh…Let us explain” you panicked in English.

“Hey woah there sister, you don’t need to explain anything. I’m not a snitch” she chuckled. “Sorry for my reaction, I was just not expecting for this to happen”

“I’m sorry, I’m a bit worried about what the others would say—“

“The others? Honey, we all know you two are practically married. We just like to tease you to see if the truth would come out sooner. Took longer than expected” Chanelle spoke with a smile.

“Wait, everyone knows?” Youngseo asked while holding your hand.

“We talk about your chemistry a lot so you can call us your biggest YoungY/n fans. But the only thing we have to say is that you two should be careful especially since we have cameras everywhere. Last thing we want is for your debut spot to disappear when Korea finds out. You know how they are”

“Yes Unnie we’ll be super careful” Your girlfriend said.

“You two are cute together. Don’t lose that spark. I’ll go back now and you should too. Can’t keep them waiting” Chanelle winked before running off.

Youngseo pulled you into a back hug and took a whiff of your floral scented hair. “You feel better now?”

You leaned back into her long arms and sighed with content. “Absolutely. At least we can act normal around each other when the cameras are off”

“Oh for sure. Will be giving you all the kisses we’ve missed these past days”

“Come on, let’s buy the snacks now. I’m gonna pass out from starvation soon”

Youngseo pulled out her credit card. “Yes ma’am. We need to get Jiwoo Unnie’s chips too”

While the taller girl was inserting the card and buying the snacks, you leaned up to kiss her cheek. “Thanks again, Youngie. I love you”

“I love you more” She giggled and quickly kissed your lips before grabbing the packets of chips.
