Today, while discussing my goddesses and practices with my best friend, I was inspired by her decision to follow a path of devotion to the Celtic goddess of war, death, and fate, Morrigan. Her enthusiasm motivated me to finally take action and make a devotional offering to my goddesses, after a long period of personal healing.

Usually, I place offerings for Aphrodite directly on her altar. However, I haven’t been able to create a proper altar for Hel*, so I decided on an alternative approach: offering bowls.

So, without further ado, I present my offering bowls! I’ll be color-coding sections to help you easily find the important information through my ramblings.

Let’s start with Hel’s offering bowl. In my digital journal, I mentioned/found that it’s best to leave food offerings until they are completely rotted away. Once that happens, all non-perishable items will be thoroughly washed and returned to Hel for devotional purposes. Any perishable remnants will be buried and returned to the earth.

What’s Inside Hel’s Offering Bowl?

Let’s begin with the more unusual items:

- Animal bones and a small vial of my own dried blood.

This might sound intense, but everything was ethically collected. The dried blood comes from a series of stress nosebleeds I had during a difficult time in my life. Offering blood to Hel is said to be a way for her to accept your pain and sorrow, so it felt fitting to include this little bottle of ground dried blood. The small animal bones are from a poultry dinner I had years ago. Initially, I saved them for work with another deity, but it turns out Hel was the one calling to me.

Now, for the rest of the offerings: In the bowl, there’s a Viking apple from my local orchard, honoring "Hel’s Orchard." There are also chunks of black obsidian and rainbow moonstone. Along with these, I’ve included crushed dried rose petals, dried yarrow buds, and dried rosebuds. To complete the offering, I added a black chime candle and a stick of myrrh incense.

Next is Aphrodite’s Offering Bowl.

For her, I’ll be removing the apple at the first sign of rot or decay—I like to keep her offerings as neat and beautiful as she is.

What’s Inside Aphrodite’s Offering Bowl?

Not to quote a popular meme, but compared to Hel’s bowl, Aphrodite’s is very mindful and demure.

Her bowl contains crushed dried rose petals and dried rosebuds, complemented by a scoop of crushed basil and a few sticks of cinnamon. There is a small collection of shells, including an “aura” shell*. Alongside the shells, I placed a chunk of rose quartz, a heart-shaped rose quartz, and a piece of angel aura quartz.

She was also given a Viking apple from my local orchard, as the apple is one of Aphrodite’s sacred fruits. To finish, I included a pink chime candle and a stick of myrrh incense.

Closing Thoughts

I found so much joy in creating these offering bowls, and I encourage you to try making one for your own deity—I’m sure they would appreciate it.

One last note: While assembling these bowls, I noticed a good few similarities in the offerings for both goddesses, which I found fascinating! Anyway, I hope you enjoyed reading through this, and thank you for taking the time to read my little post about the goddesses I am devoted to.

* For now, I have a mini or travel-sized altar for Hel in an old mint tin until I can create a proper altar.

second most kudos: diluc's terrible, horrible, not good, very bad parenthood (1,640 kudos) which is a short, two-chaptered story about how in a very unlucky night, bennett meets the darknight hero who takes him under his wing very reluctantly.

third most comments: you attack my heart (51 comments). it's an akeshu fic where they all go to shujin, based on that one art of akechi with the shujin uniform. akira is a new student and unfortunately for akechi and his buds he gets very obsessed with him.

fourth most bookmarks: switching (385 bookmarks), spiderverse, miguel and miles attempt to talk about peter b in spanish. it's a little hard on miles' end.

fifth most words: family quality time (9k words). magneto invites wanda, pietro, and lorna to go on a trip with him. he tries very hard to make up with the three of them. they all bond over having mental illness and taking medication for it.

fewest words: partings (811 words). set during the scene in neo twewy where joshua sends back neku to the ug, they have a slightly longer goodbye in which neku wonders if joshua is truly happy.

i lied i only knew the answer to the first two and i only guessed it. bitches write for anything that comes to mind (im bitches) none of these fics overlap in fandoms lmao.. anyway. if you want to look at numbers too you should do it bc i dont know who to tag. thank you populuxe!!! :3

What do you think about people who enjoy fandom surface? Like, knowing enough to laugh at memes, appreciating fanart, reading fanfics about characters they like, etc. But don't really know many details?

Fun question, and surprisingly controversial for some reason

Honestly, I think that's the purest form of fandom engagement and it should be protected at all costs. I have fully read fanfics over 100k words with no idea who the characters were and read it just like a regular novel. I remember telling the author that and it blew their mind that someone could enjoy their work not from a fandom lens, but from a creative one. I enjoyed the fic because the writing was phenomenal AND I got to support them.

I reblog art all the time with no clue who they are. I go to conventions and buy art from booths having no fucking idea who is drawn. I even talked to my favorite artist and admitted I was worried about buying some of their art because I knew it was Genshin Impact and I've never played it, let alone know anything about it.

Seeing the gradual sadness in her eyes was something I will never forget. I bought every Genshin Impact print she sold and to this day, it is the most gorgeous art I own. I treated it as nothing more than art, because at the end of the day that's what it is. I got to support that small artist and that's more than enough of a reason for me to buy it.

Heck, I never would've gotten this deep into the Batfam if I hadn't first started surface level. We all have to start somewhere. Plus, I think fandom is starting to get more and more gatekeep-y and it's really annoying to see.

Let people enjoy things!

Fandom only exists because of voluntary participation. If we keep gatekeeping it or shunning those who participate, fandom will slowly die out.

It's okay to be a surface level enjoyer. Hell, I go to concerts only knowing one song. I buy band tshirts from bands I only really like three songs they've ever made but those three songs bring me joy. I buy pop toys of characters I just think look cool.

Plus, conversation starters?? You know how fun it is to wear a shirt and have someone comment on it and then getting to learn from them a little bit? The "I love this song" and "I like this one! Listen to it sometime?"

The bonding is so pure. I think humans just love to love things for the sake of loving them and it's adorable.

Sometimes I get caught in the gatekeeper track of "wow, how dare you say you're a fan of you've never XYZ" but then I step back and realize how stupid that is.

Just let people enjoy things, fandom included. I went to a hockey game once?? Dude, that was the most fun I've ever had. Do I know ANYTHING about hockey or the teams playing? Absolutely not. Did I have a blast?? Hell yea.

We have the most fun in life when we stop giving a shit about other people's opinions. Just have fun, whatever that looks like for you.

And if that's knowing every single fact about one fandom and collecting everything there is to buy? Go ham, bud. I'll support it.

well, my answer could be long. Let's try.

1. Tell us about your WIP!

Not sure which one you mean tbh. I'm currently posting a fic I already finished as a WIP and it's called Spinning out, waiting for ya. But since it's already finished and already almost completely uploaded, I'll just talk about the one I'm currently writing.

I lovingly call it "the beast", because it's very complex and unusually long for me. The actual name will be "Fragments of Forgotten Lives" and I hope to finish it soon (like in a couple of weeks).

It's inspired by a tweet, but I realised that I mixed it up, because I just changed the roles.

What I think is special about the story is that I write a fitting poem for the start of every chapter. TBH sometimes the poem takes as much time as writing the whole chapter.

After my last one, this story is definitely darker, more angsty and intense again. I love writing it and I really hope the readers will love it as well...

I haven't finished my summary yet, but I already have a draft on it. I'm still not happy with the summary (especially with the beginning), but I'll just drop what I have here:

A poignant tale of rediscovery and resilience unfolds as Louis, a young man with a lost past, navigates the complexities of his fragmented memories. After a year of inexplicable absence following a tragic family accident, Louis returns with no recollection of who he is or where he's been. 17. What things (scenes/topics/character types) are you most comfortable writing?

I bet it sounds strange but I love to describe strong emotions, especially anxiety and panic attacks. It comes natural to me since I have endured it for years.

In general I enjoy writing angsty stories with serious topics. Mental health problems seem to be my speciality in general, but I already finished writing a story for @1didofest. Although you might think it should be a lighter story, a main part of it is alcohol addiction... When I tried to write a light summer story (Spinning out, waiting for ya) I realised that it's just not my kind of thing. I need the drama and serious topics. But I also love to write happy endings (my stories always have those).

When I'm in the mood for it I'm really comfortable with sitting smut as well, but that's not always the case.

I struggle most with all kinds of conversations ;)

HELLO MY FRIEND I am having Steve Feels again

Specifically music, because I met a new friend and we bonded over Good Sounds. (If you’re interested, my fav is Taylor Swift’s “Girl At Home (Taylor’s Version)” and my friend showed me this and I’m in love. Listen with headphones!)

So anyways I’m thinking about Steve is maybe just not doing the best. Not bad, necessarily, but definitely Could Be Better is what he says, which means he’s the living embodiment of the “this is fine” meme. So he puts in earbuds (I think headphones might be too much; the earbuds aren’t very intrusive but headphones squeeze his head in a Not Good way.) and listens to Good Sounds. Sometimes it’s actual songs, sometimes ASMR, sometimes white noise. Depends on what he needs.

When he’s overstimulated, especially after a mission, he’ll put in the earbuds just to help filter out some of the noise. Usually it works, but if the quinjet (or however he’s getting home) is too loud, he’ll usually have to go decompress; his closet is the quietest, out of all the rooms, so he’ll sit in there with his weighted blanket, in the dark, until he feels like he can be a person again.

And, brought to you by an Experience I had yesterday… Steve’s in New York, walking, enjoying the day and the shops, when from what feels like directly behind him, a truck accelerates, hits a pothole, and bounces. Normally this wouldn’t be too bad, but this specific truck was holding lots of metal. All the metal hit each other, bounced away-and-back, hitting again, and Steve flinches. Hard. Because it’s metal, the sound echoes, and now it’s mixing with all the people talking and doors opening and closing and cars driving by and-

His hands close around nothing in his pockets. He tries again. Front, back, even hoodie. No earbuds.

He holds in a whimper, reaching for his phone and picking his one favorited contact.

“Steve?”

“Buck,” he sighs.

“Are you okay?”

“Yeah, I, uh, I just… I’m out and I forgot my earbuds, and it’s-” he shakes his head, takes a breath, tries again. “I’m on my way, just… can you talk to me? Please?”

GOD I'm just always such a fan of Bucky being wholly nonjudgemental, no questions asked about things Steve needs.

And along with the lovely scenario you've painted, I'm now thinking about a time that Steve is totally overstimulated during a press event. He's clearly not doing well up on stage. Zoning out, wincing a bit at every camera flash and the distinct, loud sound of the microphones. Everything's too much, and he can't use any of his normal coping mechanisms, let alone put in earbuds.

But Bucky's in the audience, and he notices. Of course he does. And he keeps his worry to himself until the conference is over. Steve slips off stage and Bucky's immediately up from his seat, rushing backstage just in time to see Steve slip into some single stall bathroom. Knocking once, making sure to keep the knocks quiet, Bucky slips inside.

The lights are off, but Bucky can sense Steve in the corner-- can hear his harsh breaths and low humming, and fuck. It's bad. Steve only really hums when he can't find any other way to self soothe.

Sliding onto the floor with him, Bucky scoots closer.

"Hey," he whispers. "I have ear plugs. You want them?"

In the dark, Bucky can just barely make out Steve's frantic nod. Nodding back, Bucky takes out his earplugs and passes them over to Steve, watching him twist them up and put them in his ears.

It's quiet for another moment, then-- "Can you squeeze me?"

Bucky softens, crawling on his knees until he's right next to Steve.

"Of course, pal," he says, even though he isn't sure how well Steve can hear him. He opens his arms, letting Steve settle in his hold, then slowly starts squeezing. Steve is shaking, but Bucky persists until he feels the tension bleed out of him in waves. It isn't perfect, but neither of them are looking for that. As long as Steve feels settled-- safe-- that's all that matters.

but the gem half that makes “Pink-Steven” reforms but Human-Steven is not close by and most likely left to maybe to go live with his new family, his new Dad that speaks in hands and his new little brother Papyrus.

the dark purple soul belongs to Knight, the light turquoise blue soul belongs to Kris, and the Red Soul belongs to the Player.

I believe that before the Player’s Red Soul ends up in Deltarune (in Chapter 1), the Knight who is the Dark Purple Soul had made Kris’s life miserable by pulling dark pranks on others, even if Kris could pull some pranks....they would not willingly cross the line, that would be the Knight’s doing.

yeah I have a theory that the Knight had done dark pranks by making Kris do them and making everyone believe it was Kris, while technically it was but at the same time it was against Kris’s will.

think about it, we never did any of those dark pranks that those in Deltarune mention.

so it makes sense that it is the work of the Knight, who’s soul has been controlling Kris before we got there.

and the only time Knight does take control,

is when they are about to do something sneaky and they rip our soul from Kris’s body and the reason why Kris doesn’t fight back is because the Knight is much stronger than them.

it is possible that the only time we are stronger than the Knight, is during the day time in the Lightner’s World and when we are in the Dark World.

but once Nighttime happens, the Knight has the power to control Kris and pull us the Players.

so if this is true, this means that Kris has two souls in them trying to fight for control.....one being the villain known as the “Knight”

and the other being us the Player, the Red Soul.

I see that as fan headcanon.

in theory if the Crystal Gems and Connie, didn’t know that Steven died and became Sans.....

like it happen some time after the end of Steven Universe Future.

Sans might have Alphys help with that, by cloning a homunculus steven body, that the Pink-Steven will be put in and make it so that no one knows Steven had died and became a Magical Talking Skeleton.

well that could be one way to keep the Crystal Gems, Connie, Greg and everyone else from Beach City from finding out what happen to Steven....if he had died off-screen and was brought back to life by Gaster as Sans.

at least we now know now that the Steven Universe Future,

was NOT the start of Steven’s problems......it was just the boiling point.         

Greg was not a great dad, something we should of seen from the start of the first Season but couldn’t.

I plan to re-watch the first series of Steven Universe, to really watch it

and notice the stuff that we never truly notice before....

like even if the Crystal Gems did make some mistakes with how they treated Steven most of the time during his childhood.

and Amethyst did start to become a better big sister to Steven,

like with the whole finding out his Mom is Pink Diamond.

even if not a lot of fans liked Steven Universe Future, because of different reasons....

but we have to acknowledge the problem Steven was having didn’t start in the Steven Universe Future.....it started in the first series.

even if Steven had his good days, he did end up with trauma and he didn’t see a doctor until Steven Universe Future....

which you can thank his “Ex-Dad Greg” for that.

most families have excuses for not being able to go to a doctor.

after becoming rich, Greg could of hired Steven a tutor

and send him to school.....though I don’t think you have to be rich to do that.....at least I don’t think so.

but we can’t place the blame on Steven, even if his Human and Gem Family loves him dearly....

it doesn’t help that Greg and Connie form a “Human Beings Club”

kind of excluding Steven and making him feel a type of negative emotion.

I believe what Steven was feeling when he also says “human beings.”

was a type of negative feeling, but like still wanting to be included in the human bonding that his Dad and Best Friend (Future Girlfriend) were having.

Greg was a bit disappointing in the episode where he took Steven to where his parents lived.....

just when Steven was becoming more better and even enjoyed finding out about his Dad’s past.....Greg only made things worse again,

when he couldn’t understand why his own son was upset with him.

 there might of been more to the story of Greg’s Parents than what Greg told so far.....it is possible that one of Greg’s parents had very sensitive hearing and couldn’t handle really loud music.

and Greg could of broke that rule many times and that is why his parents don’t allow any music in the house.

even if that episode tried to play that Greg was a victim, it might not be 100% true.....

yes Pink’s punishments were unjust at times, but we have to remember how bad she was before she given Earth.

so most of her punishments were just, meaning she deserved them.

while other times she didn’t deserve them at all.

the problem might be that both Greg’s Parents

and Blue & Yellow Diamond, would punish Greg and Pink even at times when they didn’t deserve it.....

but it could be that before they did start punishing them,

they let them get away with so much and one point both of them crossed a line that it became too much for Greg’s Parents and even Yellow & Blue, and they had no choice but to ground them

to Greg’s Room and Pink’s Tower.

once again the problem with Steven

didn’t start in Steven Universe Future,

it started at the very beginning in Steven Universe.

the the boiling point maybe started in the Steven Universe Movie,

then the breaking point started in the Steven Universe Future.

I happen to love Steven Universe, Steven Universe Future and the Movie.

but we have to try to come to terms that the problems Steven was having, didn’t start in Steven Universe Future.

it started in Steven Universe, and even if not a lot of fans will accept that.....well it is their choice, and they should accept it by their own free will to.

I do plan to re-watch the first series to see if Steven had more than one bad experience which would of been one of the first problems he had before his breaking point in Steven Universe Future.

I know at first I thought of the Steven Universe Future

as the time he had his boiling point, but in correction it would be his breaking point that would get worse over time.

the boiling point would be the first stage, which would start in Steven Universe Future.....when more of his mother’s past misdeeds would come to light.

 the breaking point would slowly consume and get stronger for Steven, to the point where he would end up becoming Monster-Steven.

Steven becomes a gem monster because of all the negative emotions,

he only gets better once everyone realize what they didn’t do for him.

being there for him when he needs it.

at times we could pretend that everything is fine for others,

like acting like we are only a little sad but doing pretty okay now.

but that might not be for the best....even if we might think it is.

          Sans might be a future version of Steven,

who had gotten better and learned from his past, but could still hold on to some form of bitter memories.

like what if the one calling Connie, when Steven proposed to her...

wasn’t Connie’s Mom but was a Boy that Connie was Dating.

and she still liked Steven, but couldn’t bring herself to tell Steven.

well hopefully that isn’t true and that was just Connie’s Mom.

we know that a lot of fans were worried for their ship.

well the Sadie and Lars Ship had became the Friend Zone Ship.

meaning it went from “I Ship It” to “I Bud It”

Shep seems nice though, when I did first see them on the opening I didn’t know if they were a boy or a girl.....

but it turns out they are nonbinary, so it’s nice that the episode where they officially appeared on (as well as their bio.) had confirmed Shep’s identity.

I think I still need to figure out the whole Gyno-Agender

or Feminine-Nonbinary thing.....

I wonder how many fans of both Yandere Simulator and Undertale/Deltarune.....

Mega Headcanon post

Just a big ol post of Sonic headcanons in my personal AU. It might be fun, or it might be lame. You can be the judge. ^^ I'll stick with Team Sonic for now

Sonic

Sonic in my AU has quirks from most versions of Sonic. He's got the floof, extra spiky quills, and the Scarf of boom Sonic. He mostly follows a story similarly to classic/modern Sonic. And he values family and friendship like Movie Sonic. He also tries to set a good example for those younger than him, despite his thrill seeking nature, oddly enough like AoStH Sonic.

The lengths he will go to ensure all his friends are safe is insane. It doesn't matter who it is, but if anyone even remotely close to Sonic is threatened, he is quite literally the first to act, be it Tails, Amy, Knuckles, Big, Elise... anyone.

An Asexual Panromantic. He's big into cuddles, but flirting either goes right over his head or doesn't intrest him much.

Species means nothing on mobius considering they're all bipedal and intelligent humanoids. So Sonic would like to kindly ask you all to stop making fun of the bond he and Elise developed in 06, it's getting old.

Sonic is actually a surprisingly competent cook... and very knowledgeable about the nutritional value and calorie content of most foods. Which comes in handy considering many of his friends don't burn calories as fast as he does.

Only those Majorly involved in the events of 06 remember what happened before reality was altered, so sometimes Sonic will visit Elise in Soleana to check up on her. She's finally able to love a more comfortable life without a big fire monster trapped inside her.

Sonic was 15 years old in the Classic era, in my AU he's currently in his Twenties.

Tails

Tails obviously tinkers and works with machines in his spare time... but he also likes to try developing video games. Sonic loved to play test them.

Tails is secretly friends with his Robotic Rival Tails doll. And sometimes they seem to forget they're rivals.

Tails has... So many crushes. He's a pansexual disaster but doesn't know it yet. This does include Zowie and Cosmo yes, but also some other characters from other series considering I cross over my favorite AUs and fandoms quite a bit.

Tails in my AU is currently fifteen years old.

He does like to chase his tails from time to time, but only when he thinks no one is looking... He is not aware Sonic and Amy know.

He sings what he's listening to when he has ear buds in. Which is embarrassing when he's unironicly listening to meme music.

Tails had tried many times to revive Gamma, but has been unsuccessful... still, having an E-series robot to study makes maintaining and Repairing Omega much easier.

Tails has converted an old Motobug engine into an energy efficient engine for the Tornado, but instead of animals it's powered by rings.

Knuckles

He does still hate big crowds on his island, but doesn't mind having friends over in small parties or one on one.

He has a hat he really likes, but it keeps falling off while gliding long distances so he can't bring it on adventures as much as he'd like.

The hat falls off because his dreadlocks fan out like wings for gliding, and thus lift the hat up enough to push it off or let it get caught by a breeze. Using the string makes the hat slow him down like a weird parachute.

He and Rouge have made a silent agreement to pool their treasure together since the military occasionally tries to take it from her despite her services. They don't invade Angel island, so it's safe there. Not to mention it's now on the same island as the Master emerald, and thus she has no reason to take the Master emerald from the island now.

Now though, she makes jokes about them practically being Married due to how their relationship has changed.

Knuckles has many tribal warrior tattoos and markings in the AU, but they can seem a little messy... He's the last of his kind so he had to paint them himself.

Knuckles does now venture off the island more often than he used to... He still has a weird time in cities, but so long as Tails or Sonic are around to keep him out of trouble he can manage.

He likes to taste different fruit sodas to critique how close to the real fruit they taste like. He's really picky with grape soda in particular since Grapes are his favorite fruit.

His age in the AU is also in his twenties. He's only a year older than Sonic.

Amy and Sonic had to help him learn to read English, but in return he taught Amy and Sonic how to easily decode and translate ancient languages for themselves. Being a treasure hunter himself, he knows a thing or two about the history of Mobius.

This will be (edit: HELLA) long and obviously spoiler-y, so everything is under a cut.

Before we get to it, I want to mention that for the sake of keeping things organized, I will NOT be talking about my AU (@ask-whitepearl-and-steven​) in this post. I want to just analyze the show as a viewer and a fan first. I’ll make a seperate post for AU-thoughts a bit later.

Without further ado:

EP 1: LITTLE HOMESCHOOL

This is a great way to open up the episode and show the changes through the lens of someone who has been a bit out of it for a while (we are all Cherry Quartz, fresh from the hiatus, aren’t we?) but I’m sorry, this post still takes the cake:

“That used to be a loaded question...“

Right off the bat, Steven is SO much more confident about saying that he’s... HIMSELF! What a good feeling. I’m very proud of our boy. 

I love the name “Gemglyph” for the gem language! I’ll need to know who wrote these, though. And who the heck drew the diamonds? Hopefully it was BP. 

And I’m not the first one to point this out, but MORE ANIME REFERENCES!

Which can be seen as either a reference to the Chill Low-Fi Hiphop Beats to Study To OR Whisper of the Heart. 

And absolutely no one cares but something that caught my eye is the fact that they have an EARTH FLAG at Little Homeschool! How cool is that!

Earth 4ever!!! 

Off-note - I love how INVESTED they are in this conversation Pearl is having with Holo-Pearl.

Peak entertainment. 

I love Professor Amethyst and I love the random human who snuck in to apparently take lessons on Not Giving A Single Shit About Anything, Ever.

Also I’m sorry but

Jasper: “It took forever to yank those puny green earthlings out of the ground.”

Steven: “You mean grass...?“

THIS. RIGHT HERE. is peak Jasper. 

It’s also curious how INVESTED Steven is in this:

“I’m TRYING to give you [a purpose]!“

Why are you... trying to do that, though? Isn’t the whole idea for gems to surpass their ‘purpose’ and just kinda... do whatever? Isn’t Jasper just kinda... doing whatever? 

I mean, sure, it’s not useful to anyone, but she seems relatively happy. Aside from. You know. The whole laying on rocks under blankets until she’s disturbed thing and-- okay, you’re right, maybe an intervention would be healthy. 

I’m not gonna talk at length about the rest of the episode - although I think it’s really good, I don’t know what I can say about it that hasn’t already been said. Jasper is definitely poking Steven’s buttons and rephrasing a LOT of what WHITE has said to Pink: “You surround yourself with inferior gems because it makes you feel better.”

And Steven REACTS to this. The taunt WORKS.

And yes, he gains some extra powers for it, but something tells me this AIN’T the only thing he will get. It feels like a two-edged sword. Like it’ll be his own downfall somehow....... maybe at the end of the series. 

Ashes to ashes.... hole to hole.

And oh wow I thought they were gonna bond but LMAO

“Consider your fight back there your first and ONLY lesson.“

Basically:

EP 2: GUIDANCE

I LOVE YOU AMETHYST.

sHE’S doing SO much and she’s SO good at it!! Look at her!! Organizing stuff!!!! 

RUBIES IN SUNGLASSES. IN SQUARE SUNGLASSES. 

I need 20. 

And I also need 20 of Larimar because holy shit that’s hilarious. 

Larimar: “I want to hear the human screams forever.”

Steven: “Okay that’s kinda troubling.”

I love the reference to Monsters Inc here and I love the callback at the end of the episode when Larimar switches to Human Laughter to get her fill of that particular erm... need. 

And honestly the ensuing chaos is equally predictable and entertaining. 

I’m SO glad to know that Rubies are just... Like That and that actually Navy is not a deviation from the norm but rather a different flavor of the chaotic energy all Rubies naturally seem to possess. 

Amethyst is also super relatable:

“Ah yes, the fool comes crawling back. Come to beg for forgiveness, have you?”

In fact, the episode’s WHOLe HUMOUR is just very much My Brand

“Sometimes you save all the people but the rollercoaster still crashes into the ocean...... and that’s okay.”

Including the Running Gag that is Onion. Who... does not appear to have aged. At all. And that’s okay.

EP 3: ROSE BUDS

Okay where do I even begin with this one. Um.

I have to openly admit that I spent the majority of this episode wheezing with laughter. Let’s start with the Zoomans:

Who are CLEARLY STILL SUPER SALTY AT GREG ABOUT REJECTING THEM??? Which is hilarious. 

And also this paradise is fascinating in and of itself. 

But the next scene is basically where I started losing my shit.

Okay, okay, alright so. Uh. I have... a few questions.

Like Why. WHY. Does she look. SO MUCH like Rose? 

Clearly Rose Quartz differ in coloring and etc. But She literally looks. Like THE Rose. VERY explicitly. 

So here’s several options here:

1) Pink made Rose Quartz way before any of the Rebellion happened and Pearl just basically pigeonholed her into THIS specific Rose Quartz appearance because she (???) had a crush? Or somehow saw this specific Rose, thought ‘hot, i can make my sympathetic Diamond wear this exact costume and that would be EXCELLENT fanservice for ME’

2) Pink didn’t have any Rose Quartz until the Rebellion, and thereafter quickly decided ‘I need these gems as an alibi, so we’re just gonna make them” and she and Pearl basically inclubated Rose Quartz like a pokemon trainer hatching for a Shiny until they got one that looked Exactly Like That. 

3) There was no Thinking involved because this is Pink we’re talking about, and it was all just a huge coincidence for the sake of this Very Hilariously Uncomfortable Episode. 

While we ruminate on that, let’s look at some Relatable Reactions.

And here we have the holy trinity of “I have just seen the clone of my deceased parent/parental figure/lover.”

Featuring: Bonus ‘I’m Almost Over It’ Pearl

Also, I need y’all to make this into a meme:

For example:

Anyway, alright, alright. 

That relatable feel when your (hot) dead lesbian lover’s clone asks you if you’re okay after another one of the (less hot?) clones offers you a whole ass stick of butter to eat. 

And then you and your friends all hide in the bathroom to talk about your feelings:

Okay, the rest of the episode gives me FEELINGS and I love how hard Steven is trying, so I’ll just close it off with:

I LOVE THEM. Unironically, they are EVERYTHING I had hoped Rose Quartz would be. They’re SO MUCH like Rose herself - did she model her personality after them? Or are they just like her because she WAS like that, and they’re made from her essence? WHO KNOWS?! They’re adorable!

And the conflict between them and Steven is honestly so gooD! I don’t know if it’s completely relatable but I’m glad they ended up talking it out.

I wonder if we’ll ever see Her again... you know who I’m talkin’ about. 

Her....

I’m madly in love with Rose, ok, I don’t need a callout post. Just leave me be.

EP 4:  VOLLEYBALL

Alright, alright, alright.

OKAy,.... It’s fine. It’s FINE. I’m fINE. 

Confirmed: 8000 years. That’s. UH. A LOT? That puts our timelines quite a ways back. We kind of estimated as much, but still, it’s so jarring to think about. And PP is VERY casual about it. 

She’s also VERY casual about the injury.

“This is all Pink Diamond!”

It doesn’t seem like it bothers her to talk about it at all. She’s not even trying to keep it a secret. So I’m almost wondering - was there a connection to her being taken by White and the injury at all or not? 

She came to Steven to get healed - she clearly wants it gone. At the time she was injured, did Pink not even attempt to heal the injury? 

Follow up question: If she DID care, why didn’t she try to heal it?

Follow up to the follow up: Was it because she didn’t know she could? Or did she simply not have the time to (White removed her before she could)? 

When Steven goes pink, she gasps - but makes no further comment. It’s presumably because she’s seen this happen before. She doesn’t try to move away, weirdly enough - she asks him if everything is alright. Perhaps the context is too different for it to be triggering for her. Perhaps there’s more layers to it? HMMM. 

What follows is, perhaps, the SALTIEST we’ve seen Pearl since Greg rolled around.

“Did you come to compete?”

This is doubly curious to me because Crewniverse has previously explicitly stated that Pearl was NOT in love with Pink Diamond. She was in love with Rose. So if this is true, why would Pearl care about her place as Pink’s Pearl? She is supposed to be past all that, isn’t she? 

And yet as time goes on, the salinity grows exponentially. Alright, you two, I know you’re Pearls but tone it down with the sass. 

(Also, I’m sorry but I will NEVER call her Volleyball. That’s all. Bye.)

Also it’s worth noting that... PP is clearly VERY much in love with Pink.

This is, perhaps, where the lack of a grudge plays into it. She’s completely enamoured.

Moreover, she’s VERY casual about how she talks here. This isn’t exactly how one talks of their Diamond. This is how people talk about their romantic partners. She calls Pink silly, calls her ‘funny’. That’s not exactly a term of respect - it’s way more intimate than that. 

Also, did anyone else notice how, although CG Pearl’s gem is usually shaded in teal, it’s in Pink in this episode? VEEEERY subtle, Crew.

Also, we can’t quite see Pink Pearl’s expression fully here because her working eye isn’t visible, which makes it hard to get a read on things like

“I’m older than you.“ Is she just saying it casually? Or is she fully aware that she’s poking fun at CG Pearl? 

HI SHELL. ISN’T IT FUNNY HOW YOUR VOICE AND YOUR NAME ARE A SUBTLE NOD TO PORTAL, WHICH IS FORESHADOWING HOW BADLY THIS IS GONNA END. 

Meanwhile, Pearl continues to be in character.

“No need to be overly... attached.”

And this has nothing to do with anything but

she cute

Aaaand now it’s creepy again.

The rest of this is super important so let’s get to it:

“Oh, no. Pink did this.”

“What did you say?”

“It’s a funny story, really. Once, Pink got tired of asking Yellow and Blue for her own colony, so she went straight to White. Of course, White told her she wasn’t fit to run one... and well! That set her off.”

“Set her off? What are you talking about?”

“You remember how she was! With her destructive powers, throwing tantrums left and right! She had a scream that could crack the walls. She didn’t mean to hurt me! (giggle) I just happened to be standing too close to her that time and--”

And then Steven interrupts. 

We get more CG Pearl arguing for how wrong this image of Pink is to her. What CG Pearl knew was a totally different (or, well, same, but VERY changed) Pink. 

But what we have to prove our point is Steven himself. He rolls into the EXACT same state as Pink presumably did - and begins to over-use his powers. 

(This isn’t the first time we have seen him use this attack.)

The reactions from the Pearls are telling - this is clearly not Pink Pearl’s first rodeo with this type of Mood. 

And it’s important to note that Steven clearly didn’t direct any attack AT them. He simply yelled - and the whole dang place literally started to crack. There’s weight to the argument that possibly, Pink really DIDN’T mean to hurt her Pearl - that she was just collateral damage. 

Which doesn’t make it any better, obviously. Even if Pink had no direct intention of hurting her Pearl (and there are theories that Pink purposefully hit or threw Pink Pearl or somehow physically acted directly to damage her, which I was skeptical of) the result of it is still the same.

If you raise your voice and yell, even if you’re just yelling because YOU are hurt/have feelings, you might still hurt the people around you. If you throw a tantrum, even if your direct goal was just to let off some steam without aiming to harm anyone, whoever gets in your way is still the victim. 

And this is all very much On Brand for Pink’s timeline as we know it. We already knew this about her - we KNEW she tended to throw tantrums (like in the flashback on Jungle Moon) and that she was childish. The fact that she accidentally hurt her Pearl in the process because she had no self-control at that period in her life comes as no surprise. 

(Although it’s important to mention that perhaps hurting her own Pearl WAS the breaking point during which she finally realized how her emotional outbursts could have negative consequences on those around her.)

And this is a very beautiful message - even if Pink Pearl still doesn’t want to blame Pink for what was done to her (”But... she didn’t mean to!”) Pearl brings the point of it back around to her (”But you were still hurt!”) The point isn’t the person who did the hurting - the focus is on the victim and how they were affected. 

And the rest, I daresay, is history. 

I like the fact that they managed to still bring it back around to the main message: 

It isn’t about just “Pink was bad”. It’s about how she did bad things. And there were multiple sides to her - multiple stages. And the Pearls who knew her knew different sides of her - the side that didn’t know how to be a good person, who was selfish and childish and unrestrained... and  the side that was, arguable, too restrained. Who hated her own past, her own character and her own mistakes so much that she would rather bury them and keep secrets from everyone. 

And neither of those things were good, and neither were healthy, but they are a GREAT contrast to a GREAT character arc that is, arguably, still being unearthed. And we have so much more context for it all now. 

I, for one, can’t wait to see and discover more of Pink through Pink Pearl - no matter how ugly that side of her might be. I think it gives great perspective to her later growth. 

And if you ship the Pearls.. .well, I get why. 

Personally I’m not interested in it that way. Call me unromantic - I don’t think their relationship NEEDS to be shippy in order to be satisfyingly deep. I love the idea of them having a deep bond over this - a shared past, a shared experience, and gaining confidence through one another.

 I read a lot of fics where he’s like super into internet culture and acts like the class clown, and while I do agree he knows a good meme, this guy is fucking reading Hemmingway and shit. He is more likely reading a book then on the internet.

I love his potential as a psychic/ki-based fighter as well as his childish personality, not to mention how blunt and funny he can get and his Strong As Hell friendship with Tien.

I love all of Chiaotzu’s Bastard moments in OG Dragon Ball, but his scenes with Tien in Mystical Adventure just tug at my heart and I cherish them so much, from where he has to confide in Tien after having a nightmare to the scene where Tien is ordered to kill him. I know I’m supposed to pick ONE scene but MAN I simply Cannot.

Again!! Chiaotzu’s role in the Mystical Adventure movie- it’s both a really interesting What If scenario for him and the movie was a joy to watch overall.
