Do you collect anything?

I'm really enjoying learning more about my fellow tumblr users, so let's keep this going.

I want to know what (if anything) you collect. I'll go first.

I have a bad habit of changing my collections often but recently I've been really into View-Masters, you know that plastic headset that showed you 3D images. I'm working on a site where I'm putting all my research (https://gruber.travel/) and buddy of mine made a special reel scanner that I'm getting next week. I'm really excited about it.

I've seen a number of posts from people in the fandom lately saying they wish they were able to make friends, or they're not sure where to start in making friends...

Some are scared or anxious to reach out and others are overwhelmed simply by how many of us there are in this fandom.

And it gave me an idea! 💡

So, here's my thinking...

If you're someone who is struggling to make friends, or wants to reach out, but isn't sure how or where to start, Marcus and I are here to help, aren't we, Marcus?

So, what I'm proposing is that anyone - and it can be anyone, writer, reader, artist, silent lurker - who wants to make friends with someone, either comments on, or reblogs this post.

If you only like this post, I won't count it as your confirmation to participate. You can leave something simple like an emoji if you'd prefer not to write a full comment, but I need to know you're genuinely interested, and a like doesn't really tell me that...

Then, I shall collate all of the user names and match you with someone to talk to. A bit like pick n' mix, they'll be something for everyone! Or speed dating...

And we're not talking numbers here, you can have hundreds, thousands of followers and still feel lonely. So no matter how big or small your blog is, or what you contribute to the fandom, you're welcome to participate.

I'll then post the pairings so you know who your match is! Then, you guys can reach out and talk to one another and hopefully start a friendship over something you have in common. I mean, we all have Pedro in common, so this would be a great place to start, right?

To everyone currently leaving reddit : if you're like me and used the save function a lot, you may want to keep a trace of all the posts you've saved before it all goes to shit.

For this purpose, there is a tool called bdfr that should make the task trivial. It makes it relatively easy to download the content and/or info of posts in bulk. That can be from a subreddit, your saved posts, your upvoted posts, anywhere.

If this is something you care about, it's capital that you do it fast. First of all, because a lot of posts are inaccessible because of the blackout and may stay so forever with how things are going. But second of all, because this tool itself relies on the API and will likely become unusable after June 30th.

If that wasn't clear, this means the API changes will lead reddit to become a walled garden. You will not be able to download posts. I hope this further drives the point home for anyone still thinking this is a non-issue.

Let's buy the stupidest domain ever

I just found out today that tumblr sells domains. Who knew. I love domain names. I have so many that it's kinda a problem (but I'm not ready to deal with that yet).

I'm bored and I thought why not throw tumblr a bone and buy a domain. This is where I need your help. I want a name so dumb that by clicking on a link to it people temporarily lose the ability to do math.

Search for the dumbest domain possible (make sure it's available) and post it in the comments. There is no limit on TLD or on length but please don't make it dirty as my mom reads my social media. This community is so nice to me and the crabs, thank you. I really want to make things that everyone can enjoy so I had the idea of taking all the cool designs we've been putting on physical goods and make them into "digital" products. Today, it's in the form of avatars.

But it all started with the seriesI really liked the series, and my favorite character is Captain Arthur Hastings. I like him for his honesty and kindness... And he's just an angel!
