Let’s Talk: Travelling Chapter #1
Well I guess my first post would be on travelling! An anon has asked me:
“I'm curious, where are all of the places you've traveled? Which was your favorite? Where would you like to travel in the future? I look forward to seeing this blog grow, I hope you have a good day!”
A/N: Thank you for sending in a question and helping to kick start this blog of mine because I simply couldn’t decide on what to post first hahaha and have a nice day too anon! :)
Well, to start off, I haven’t actually traveled to many places. Maybe if I was born before the year of crisis, I would’ve been able to see the world more because the rest of my family have gone to many, and I mean MANY places. To name a few would be Japan, Korea, New Zealand, multiple Disneylands, Philippines, Europe etc. I wish I was there with them but then again, I probably wouldn’t remember anything at such a young age. So where have I traveled?
My family often reminds me of my first trip overseas which was London. Unfortunately, I was only a toddler so I don’t have much memories from there. What I do remember though is me being pretty excited when I saw the Big Ben. I also remembered having a picture taken of me on my two feet, standing on my dad’s hand. I’m not kidding. He was balancing me on his hand and I was surprisingly cheerful about it. But that’s as far as my memory can go, which kinda breaks my heart because I’m certain London has far more interesting things I probably missed out on. Maybe I’ll visit the place again someday.
Moving on to places I actually have memories of, I’ve only traveled to Indonesia, Malaysia and China as my family seldom travel nowadays and as much as I’d like to venture the world on my own, I’m not of age yet. But my family is the kind to go to places people wouldn’t even think of visiting. Heck, when I tell people about my trips with full excitement, they would often give me a questioning look and say things like, “Where?”, “They have that?”, “Why would you go there?”
To be specific, I’ve been to Batam (Indo), Tanjong Pinang (Indo), Kuala Lumpur (M’sia), Langkawi (M’sia), Kota Tinggi (M’sia), Malacca (M’sia), Sarawak (M’sia) & Ho Chi Minh (Vietnam). This post would be extremely long should I go into deep detail about each of the places I’ve visited but I’d say the ones that were eventful for me would be:
Batam (back when I was younger) - I got a deep cut on my forehead and am now left with a scar
Malacca - Paranormal experience (I’m still trying to find an explanation for it)
Sarawak - Paranormal experience (My hair still stands when I think of it)
Side Note: Yes, if it ain’t obvious enough, I’m one who strongly believes in the supernatural. I’ve encountered a handful (which I’ll be more than glad to share with you if you’re ever interested) and sometimes, I like to personally put myself into such scenarios because I’m that stupid :-) But yes, I often have encounters so I guess you can say I’m used to it? Though that doesn’t mean my hair doesn’t stand at the thought of what I have gone through.
Moving on, I honestly think my favorite would be my most recent trip to Batam but if you ask me why, I would honestly tell you I don’t know. The place I was staying at is known as KTM Resorts and believe me when I tell you that that place is probably one of the most peaceful place you could ever stay at. For a start, not many people go there. And unlike many places that are very humid, this resort will never make you feel uncomfortable in terms of the temperature. Why? Because it’s by the ocean. The breeze is so cooling, I felt so satisfied. The resort also has that nostalgic feel. I don’t know how to explain it so all you need to do is look at the photos I’ve managed to take of the place below:
Okay but do you see how clear the ocean water is? When it was high tide, I saw baby swordfishes in there, casually swimming everywhere. I also went to the Barelang Seafood Restaurant (this one goes out to them seafood lovers) where you can manually pick what you want to eat - literally fresh from the sea. I mean of course you won’t pick the creatures yourself but you can see what they have to offer and make your choices from there. The place was rather eerie when I went there though, since it was at night.
But it was quiet and also, I got to see the Barelang Bridge from the restaurant. I wanted to take photos but my phone’s camera quality is horrible (I’m lucky I was managed to take decent pictures of the resort), especially at night and everyone else was too busy taking selfies that I couldn’t lend their phones. Oh well, the food was pretty good though. I’d recommend the Tom Yam for spice lovers because my I sure got a kick out of it. My trip only lasted one night so I didn’t get to do much but I guess I have enough memories to hold on to.
Where do I want to travel in the future? Originally, when I was still a kid, I had every dying passion to go to Paris and up till now, I have no idea why. Maybe it was because of all the movie I watched or maybe it was because of the Eiffel Tower. But now, if you were to ask me where I’d like to travel, I’d honestly answer, “Anywhere”. Why? Because where I travel to does not matter, what I find in the places I travel to does. I like getting lost. Yes, people look at me weird too when I say that. But that’s the fun of it. Not knowing where you are or what you’ll find. It brings me satisfaction. Where I live, there isn’t much for you to see. It’s hard to come across places that are hidden and when you do come across them, they don’t have the kind of environment you’re looking for; calming, refreshing.
When did all of this start? I don’t know. Maybe because from young, I’ve been lost countless times. Or maybe because all of the photographers I follow tend to take pictures of really exorbitant or secluded places. I want to see those places. I want to make my own discovery. Maybe that’s why my favorite trip would be my most recent trip to Batam. Because I truly felt as though the place was my discovery.
Ending Note: I don’t know if this was fun to read but I hope it answered your questions anon! Feel free to send in more questions or whatsoever. And if you’d like me to share my stories, all you gotta do is enter my inbox ^^
