A levihan fic I wrote inspired by the wonderful art of @addiej01
Tumblr media
Lucky
Dust motes and overflowing sewerage. Dirty streets, uneven houses, and a large rocky ceiling, cutting out the sight of—Levi could only imagine what it may look like— the sky.
A typical day in the Underground.
Levi was eight, and pissed off at the random men that kept showing up to the small room where they lived. His mother had, as usual, sent him away, sneaking him out through the window and drawing the threadbare curtains over it before anyone could see him. He knew she was doing it—whatever it was—for him, and it also hurt her. And it involved men.
She had explained patiently to him that she was working and he must never peek through the window or she would be very angry and sad. But he’d seen her tired eyes, pale face and the dried tear tracks on her cheeks. He’d seen how she would wince in pain when she moved, and he’d heard her silent sniffles in the deep night when she thought he was asleep. He blamed the men, and her work, that she was so adamant on hiding from him.
He had been tempted to look through the window once. If he knew what was hurting her, he could find a solution. But her words had rung sharply in his mind and he knew if he followed the impulse, his mom would never ever forgive him.
So there he was, wandering the streets on yet another day, feeling helpless and cursing life with all the ferocity a child could muster.
Levi knew his way in the area around his home quite well. He was familiar with the narrow alleyways and passages that ran through the district like a tight network of spider webs. And just like a spider web, they were traps for all the stupid flies that dared to venture into it.
Levi was not a fly; rather he was one of the spiders, albeit a smaller one. Having grown up on those streets, he knew exactly what kind of person to avoid and how to avoid them. As a child he did lack many talents needed on the streets, like strength, fighting tactics and killing, but he knew how to survive, and that’s what mattered most. He was pretty quick and stealthy as well. Though his mom didn’t like the idea of stealing and Levi went along with it, it was still a handy little skill.
Suddenly, the hair on the back of his neck stood up and he instantly looked around. The distant sound of hurried footsteps compelled him to dive into a gaping alley. He flattened behind a dripping pipe, holding his breath, partially due to the stink, and peered out.
A tall, burly man marched through the street; waves of anger were emitting from him and he was fingering the gun in his belt, moving with a purpose.
As he’d suspected, it was one of the spiders. A big one. Levi wouldn’t want to be in its pincers. He waited with bated breath, until the man was out of sight and it was safe for him to come out. But just then, he heard a small squeak and jerked back, fists raised.
‘Who’s there?’ he called out.
When nothing but silence answered, he stepped back into the alley, and squinted in the semi-darkness, eyes roving, searching—there!
A small figure was hunched behind some boxes. Another squeak sounded.
Levi approached it and realized it was a kid, around his age. The kid stumbled back as Levi came closer, hands held in front of him . . . or her? It could be a boy, sure looked like one. He wore glasses and was dressed in fairly bright and expensive looking clothes, but they were covered in dirt, and his short brown hair framed his face in messy strands.
He looked terrified, but was doing a fairly good job in masking it.
‘Who are you?’ Levi asked, folding his arms.
‘H—Hange,’ surprisingly the voice sounded female.
Levi raised his eyebrows, ‘You a girl?’
‘Uh, I . . . yeah,’ her eyes darted around, unsure and nervous.
‘You’re not from here,’ Levi stated flatly.
She winced, ‘Well, yes . . . but I swear I’m not gonna cause any trouble! I just wanted to look around! I’ve never seen the Underground before!’
Levi rolled his eyes; as if it was such a delightful place. So she was from the surface, and completely oblivious to this world. What an idiot.
The perfect fly.
He decided it was better not to let the girl, Hange, wander around by herself, so he accompanied her to the gates. Besides, he had nothing to do anyway.
She liked talking, as he soon found out. A lot. And throughout their little journey, she chattered happily in his ear. In a span of forty minutes, he knew everything from the name of her pet dog to the annoying governess who made her sit through hours of lectures on how to be a proper lady, even though she didn’t want to be one. Apparently, her father was a kind-hearted doctor who had come down to treat the victims of a prevailing disease in the Underground. Naturally, Hange wasn’t allowed to come with him. And naturally her unbridled curiosity made her slip in while her father crossed through the gates. How she managed that feat was beyond him.
He learnt quite a lot about life above the ground, and realized just how different it was from his own. But he really wished she would shut up for a while, otherwise he was sure to have a headache soon.
Thankfully, the gates came in sight, and she turned to him. She was grinning, and her eyes were shining brightly.
‘Thanks for being my guide, Levi!’ she exclaimed.
‘I wasn’t your—’ his retort was cut short as she enveloped him into a hug.
‘Bye! I’ll see you tomorrow, okay!’ she shouted in his ear.
‘Oi! Get off four-eyes!’
She laughed at the nickname and headed towards the gates, preparing to sneak out. She might get caught but it wasn’t like he cared. She’d managed to come in after all, he was sure she could go out as well. He turned on his heel and walked away.
***
True to her word, Hange came down again the next day. He saw her descend the giant stone steps with a man that could only be her father. It seemed she’d somehow convinced him to bring her along this time. She beamed down at him and adjusted the bag at her shoulders, as the guards held them up by the entrance.
‘You were waiting for me!’ she jumped in excitement as she rushed down.
Levi scowled, ‘I wasn’t.’
Of course he wasn’t waiting for that moron to come; he was simply walking around the gates. It’s not like he was bored or anything.
‘Your father let you come today,’ Levi pointed out.
‘Yeah! I asked him sooo many times yesterday that he just had to,’ she said.
‘But he only agreed when I told him I made a really nice grumpy friend,’ Hange skipped ahead, full of energy. ‘So, where are we going today?’
‘I’m not your friend,’ said Levi, ‘and we’re not going anywhere.’
‘Oh c’mon grumpy pants,’ she pouted. ‘Show me around! I even brought food for us today; we can have a picnic somewhere!’
Levi shook his head, equal parts amused and irritated. What did she think this place was? An amusement park?
‘You can't fool around here,’ he said gruffly. ‘It’s dangerous.’
‘Buuut I wanna explore,’ she whined, ‘and you know the Underground well. Pleeease Levi.’ She looked at him with big, pleading brown eyes.
He sighed and trudged ahead, ‘Come on.’ It wasn’t as if he was busy, some company wouldn’t hurt.
‘Yes!’
He led her to areas that he knew were relatively safer. Four-eyes tagged along, staring at the shops, houses, bars and people as if she’d never seen those things before. He noted that she stared at the stone ceiling every now and then, mouth half-open in wonder.
‘These people,’ she began after a while, ‘they’ve been in the Underground all their lives?’
‘Yeah.’
‘So that means none of you have ever seen the sky?’
He nodded stiffly. Hange gasped.
‘That’s horrible! You’re telling me you don’t know how it looks like when it’s clear, or cloudy, or early in the morning, or when the sun’s setting?’
‘I don’t.’
She stopped and grasped him by the arms, bending forward. Levi leaned back, eyes widening.
‘Don’t you worry Levi, I’ll take you to see the sky!’ she said earnestly. ‘Why don’t you come with me today when I leave?’
‘I can't,’ he shook his head. ‘None of the Undergrounders can leave just like that.’
‘Oh,’ her shoulders slumped and she frowned, crestfallen.
But then her eyes lit up once more, ‘Y’know, my mom’s a painter, and I just remembered two of her really good paintings about the sky. I’ll bring them tomorrow for you to see!’
And with that she bounded forward, calling for him to catch up.
Levi stood there for a second, not knowing what to make of this overly enthusiastic girl who somehow felt it was her duty to show him something he’d always wished but never had the chance to see. Was this what they called kindness? He couldn’t be sure.
Four-eyes insisted to see a livelier place next, so he took her to the market square, bustling with people. She moved around the stalls with a bright gleam in her eyes and gushed over the local handiworks. After she’d looked around to her heart’s content, they both sat down on the large steps of a storehouse and four-eyes took out food from her bag. Bright-colored fruits, bread, sandwiches, an orange drink.
The sight made his mouth water. How long had it been since he had a proper meal? Weeks? Months? How long since his mother had eaten anything?
Hange nudged him, ‘Go on, I brought this for both of us.’
He picked up a piece of bread gingerly and took a small bite. It was warm and sweet and so painfully real that for a moment he just savored the feeling of something solid and edible filling his mouth. He tore off a large bite, then another and another, filling himself with food. He finished the whole loaf in a minute.
Levi glanced at Hange, expecting her to be staring at him judgmentally, but she was simply chewing an apple, gazing around thoughtfully.
So Levi picked up a sandwich and bit into it, taking time to chew properly and eat slowly this time.
‘So . . . you said you lived with only your mom,’ she started.
‘Hmm.’
‘Where’s your dad?’
‘Dunno, and don’t care,’ he shrugged.
‘Can I meet your mom?’ four-eyes asked eagerly.
‘She’s busy right now, working.’
Her face fell. He hesitated, and then said, ‘Maybe another time?’
‘Of course! I would love to!’
She began taking again, telling him about her life, her little adventures back at home. This time he threw in small comments here and there, making her laugh out loud. It was a nice feeling: to learn that you could make someone smile widely just because of your words.
Much too soon, it was time for her to go. She let him—more like forced him—to take the rest of the food home, and promised to come down tomorrow and show him the paintings.
The next day, Levi greeted her with the words, ‘I want to show you a place.’
‘Ooh!’ Hange was all excitement as she followed him.
He went to the far corner of the district where the tumbledown houses gave way to the high walls that marked the end of the city. The spot was a mess of cracked rock and broken stones protruding from the ground and rising up to a great height.
‘C’mon,’ Levi said, lodging his hands and feet between the gaps in the stone and hoisting himself. He looked back down at four-eyes, ‘Can you climb up?’
She nodded, a bit uncertainly but followed his lead. It wasn’t that hard, the rocks weren’t slippery or steep, but they did have a long way to go. Levi focused on climbing up and kept checking on Hange in between. She seemed to be doing okay.
Finally they reached the wide ledge at the top and Levi pulled himself up and then helped Hange. They both sat there, catching their breath for a while. Hange produced a bottle of water from her bag, drank some and then handed it to Levi.
She turned to look back and gasped.
‘Whoa!’
The whole Underground city was spread out below them. From their great height, the houses looked like children’s toys. The buildings were squashed in close to each other, with narrow streets weaving between them. The tall towers stood out majestically among them. Everything shined in the flickering lights of the city.
Levi looked at four-eyes and almost smiled at her expression of awe. She was quiet for a while, watching the scene intently.
‘This is beautiful,’ she said finally in a quiet voice. Then turned to him and smiled, ‘Thank you for bringing me here, Levi.’
He turned away from her and mumbled, ‘Yeah whatever . . .’
Hange chuckled and settled back comfortably on the ledge. Then opened her bag and took out various food items and patted the space beside her. Levi sat down and they began to eat, looking down.
‘I noticed that there aren’t any plants or flowers in the Underground,’ said Hange.
‘How could there be any, you moron. There’s no sunlight.’
‘I know, but look at that,’ she pointed to the roof that felt way closer now that they were up there. It was damp and covered with fungus. ‘There are parts of the roof that have grown thinner than the rest,’ she went on. ‘And the stone will continue to weather away due to wind and water. It’s possible that a hole might open up in here. So if sunlight comes in there’ll be greenery.’ She smiled.
‘Like I care,’ said Levi, although he did find the idea nice.
‘You will care when it happens. A little green would look good here—oh! I just remembered! I had to show you something!’ she unzipped her bag.
‘Is it those paintings?’ Levi asked, curiosity seeping through the indifference.
‘Yes that too, but there’s one more thing!’ Hange pulled out a book and held it up.
‘I don’t know how to read four-eye,’ he said flatly.
She simply opened the book and pulled out a small leaf from it. It resembled a flower, and had four bright green petals. She held it out to him.
‘That’s a clover leaf,’ she said proudly. ‘And they usually have only three petals. Four petals are sooo rare that people say if you find one, you’re really lucky!’
Levi held the leaf in his hand and observed its fresh green color. Lucky, huh?
‘People will make up anything to satisfy themselves,’ he said and handed the clover back to her. She carefully placed it between the pages once more.
‘But still, seeing how rare it is, it’s still quite a precious thing,’ Hange countered. ‘I’m so glad I found it.’
Next she pulled out two pieces canvas from her bag and showed them to Levi with a grin, ‘As promised, I brought you a glimpse of the sky!’
The two paintings were a splash of color that was so rarely seen in his world.
‘This one’s a sunset,’ she pointed to the one that looked like fire. Molten red and orange hues bathed the canvas, mingling into a gold-yellow. Distant black silhouettes were painted that Levi recognized as mountains and horses. A huge pale orb—the sun—was half-hidden between the hills.
‘And this one’s a clear sky.’ The second painting showed a soft blue shade dotted with something that looked like fluffy pieces of cotton. Little red-roofed houses peppered the ground, surrounded by vibrant green fields. He could see small figures of children, frozen in time, chasing each other. He could almost hear their laughter.
‘You like it?’ Hange asked.
The places in both these pictures felt free. The people there could look up and see an infinite stretch of something that wasn’t the roof of a cage. Something that washed them in different colors at different hours of the day. It wasn’t a monochrome black all the time.
‘It’s . . . nice.’ He said quietly. This was just a picture; the real thing would be a hundred times better. He wondered if his wish to go out in the open would remain a wish forever.
‘I think,’ Hange’s voice pulled him out of his thoughts, ‘the clover leaf really is lucky.’
He raised his eyebrows, ‘And what makes you think that?’
She shrugged, ‘I found the leaf. Then I met you,’ she locked her warm brown eyes with his. ‘And that was indeed very lucky.’
Levi tore his gaze away, not knowing what to say. Hange laughed quietly, ‘You’re a really good friend, Levi.’
Hange kept coming for many days. They would talk, play around, and often climb onto that ledge. She would tell him about the outside world and he would mention brief fragments of his life and the Underground. Once Hange sneaked in some of her mother’s paints and they both spent a good amount of hours on their ledge, making a mess of the colors. He liked the routine; it was the first time he’d made a ‘friend’ and Levi was actually having fun.
One day four-eyes came to him with a sad smile; she was carrying just a book, no backpack. Her father didn’t go off to attend to his patients as he usually did, but stood back at a distance as she approached him.
‘Hey,’ she whispered.
‘What’s wrong?’
‘We’re leaving,’ said Hange. ‘Father’s work here is done, we won’t be coming back.’
Oh.
He knew she wasn’t going to come down everyday forever, but . . . he hadn’t expected that day to come so soon.
‘I asked him to let me just meet you one last time and only then I’d go,’ she said. Then she handed him the book, and opened a page in the middle. Upon it sat that clover leaf she’d shown him before, carefully dried and pressed between the pages.
‘I dried it. If you keep it inside the book, it’ll last for quite some time.’
Levi shut the book and looked at four-eyes. He had to say something.
‘Thank you,’ he said. She smiled, this time happily. Then he said, ‘And this won’t be last time we’re meeting, four-eyes. I’ll get out of this hellhole with my mother and then we’ll meet again.’
Her eyes widened, and then gleamed behind her glasses. She crushed him in a hug, and he let her do it this once.
‘All right then, I’ll see if you keep your word Levi.’
***
‘The name’s Levi,’ he stared down at the lined up soldiers who would blindly throw their lives away in the name of freedom. Isabel and Farlan stood on either side of him, both alert and cautious.
Then his eyes caught a familiar sight of messy brown hair and glasses. Vague memories stirred within him.
. . . I’ll see if you keep your word . . .
Well, he did keep it. Here he was, beneath the vast open sky, and four-eyes was right in front of him. He held back a smile. How lucky indeed.

Two and a half years have passed since I wrote "The Secret Society of the Forest Children", a Levihan fanfiction that I posted on AO3. And now, with the anime ending, I've been driven to come back here and wistfully wander through my own words, my vision, and who I was back then. I have reread my comments on the fanfics I was reading at the time (a warm greeting to @tundrainafrica, @djmarinizelablog, @fanmoose12 and many more writers whose stories inspired me SO deeply), and I have remembered how much this story has marked me. Honestly, I don't know what this is about. With the last chapter airing I felt the need to give myself some peace of mind again with the ending that was given to us so I wrote another fanfic. However, I feel that this does not completely ease my heart. I reread my first fanfic too, Hange, and I could tell how my resentment towards Eren was fresh and alive at that moment. The last story I wrote I also did as a way to make peace with him and with SNK for taking away my favorite character haha. I feel shy commenting on this, but it's like I'm mourning my favorite character again. My dear Hange Zoë. And between the nostalgia and the new Voice Dramas released, I think I remembered why I embraced them so much, and I still do. To me, Hange is a symbol of something beautiful: the ability and strength to dare to live life with emotion, to observe with curious eyes, and to treat others with kindness and compassion. To be authentic, laugh with innocence and enthusiasm even in a world that can be cruel. For me Hange is synonymous with that kind of freedom. And this space has been a beautiful place of connection between those of us who, I believe, saw something more in this character too (along with Levi, of course, my beloved Levi). In honor of that connection and its meaning, maybe, I wrote this.
And I hope that in a parallel world, our dear Levihan is doing laundry and taxes together.
A hug.

Reckless Behavior - Part 2
Pairing: Levi Ackerman/Hange Zoë (Attack on Titan) Rating: Explicit. MDNI Warnings: Nipple play. Vaginal Fingering. Oral Sex. Unprotected Sex. Additional tags: She/Her pronouns for Hange Zoë on this one. Wordcount: 3k Read part one here >>This is smut. Minors please do not interact<<
Levi was a skilled man, but right now he was struggling with the small sphere that refused to leave the confines of Hange’s shirt. Of course, the button was just a scapegoat, the real culprits being his hands, which trembled in anticipation as they revealed new inches of her skin.
It was conflicting. His mind wanted to savor this moment, to commit every gaze, sound, and touch to his memory. Levi wanted to hold time in his hands, unroll it like a ball of yarn so that each moment would last forever and tomorrow would always be one night away. His body, on the other hand, was taken with desire. The rampant beast that for long Levi had managed to stifle with layers upon layers of ‘It's never gonna happen’ was now thrashing fiercely inside him, threatening to burst its prison of flesh and devour the Squad Leader right then and there.
Levi let his forehead fall to her shoulder, overwhelmed by the dispute between the expectations he had built in his mind and the reality that his own flesh was imposing on him. The captain inhaled deeply, letting the smell of oily hair and old books wash over him.
The aroma had inhabited the captain’s desires for months now. It was difficult for Levi to focus on the Senior Officers’ meetings sometimes, especially after Hange picked up the habit of sitting next to him. A couple of minutes in and Levi's mind would be invaded by the image of himself buried in the crook of her neck. Erwin’s voice would fade in the distance as her panting and soft whimpers echoed in the corners of his mind. Levi thought, in those moments, what he wouldn’t give to know how it would feel to drown in Hange, what she’d look like while he was pounding into her, what she would sound like as she was coming around him.
His heart picked up the pace, fueled by the fresh memory of the delicious sounds Hange had been making for him so far.
He would find all of that out today.
As the thought occurred to him, the final button was undone.
Time slowed down as Levi took in the scene before him. Both sides of Hange’s shirt opened like a curtain revealing the skin of her neck, reddened in the places his tongue and teeth had explored just moments ago, some purplish spots proving his suctions weren’t as soft as he had believed them to be. She looked so fucked out already. Messed-up hair. Flushed cheeks. Red, swollen lips. Hange was the one against the wall, but her eyes were that of a predator that cornered its prey.
Her chest heaved up and down, and Levi was hypnotized by her breasts. Silky skin, lighter than her usual complexion, contrasted with the dark brown areolas that sat atop it. His mouth watered at the tempting sight. Even though they weren’t very big, Hange’s tits looked plump and heavy, like ripe fruits ready to be tasted.
Levi wet his lips, eyes glued to her hardened nipples,  “Can I-”
“Yeah” She breathed out through a smile, and when his gaze lifted to meet hers, her grin faltered into a pitiful desperate expression “Please, Levi.”
A shiver ran across his skin, raising every hair on his body and making his cock twitch inside his underwear. He dove back into her, hands kneading at each of her breasts, lips locked around the velvety skin of one of the brown nubs. Hange’s fingers grabbed at his hair and her moans were music to his ears. Levi sucked thoroughly on her nipple, then let his tongue swirl around the flesh, before pulling on it with his teeth, which elicited a throaty “fuck” from her. He replaced his mouth with his fingers, moving his lips to the other side to do the same thing.
Levi wanted to protest when Hange let go of the firm grip she had on his locks, but the captain had a mouthful at the moment. Then, she started fidgeting a bit, one leg dancing between their bodies, then the other. When Levi finally let go of the task that was keeping him occupied, Hange was already shaking the remaining pant leg off of her feet. With a final kick in the air, the item of clothing flew away, landing on the floor near the wall adjacent to them. The shirt joined it next. So much for being careful not to wrinkle their uniforms…
But his mind didn’t stay long on the evidence of their rendezvous, not when Hange Zoë stood before him in nothing but panties. Not when she had that gorgeous wide smile that made him go to heaven and back every time he caught a glimpse of it. Levi stepped forward, one of his hands unceremoniously sliding down her stomach and right under the waistband of the undergarment. His eyes were fixed on her face as his fingers explored the outside, feeling the prickling of her thick bush and the way it contoured her slit, then the warmness inside, the frailness of that naked skin, and then-
Fuck.
So fucking wet.
Hange’s eyes fluttered closed and Levi melted away when his fingers finally dove in between her folds.
Her head fell onto his shoulder, her panting occasionally broken by a whimper, as Levi alternated between dipping his middle finger into the pool that gathered at her entrance and rubbing circles on her clit with his coated digit. Her lips were so close to his ear, every little gasp or moan falling into it and traveling straight to his cock, which he’d unconsciously started rutting against her leg.
It felt so good.
A little more of this and Levi was sure he would make a mess on his uniform, and if the way Hange’s body was starting to wriggle was any indication, she was close too.
Levi’s wish was to speed up his ministrations, have her come on his fingers, and then in any and whichever other way she’d like, but, for once, reason spoke louder. After all those months fantasizing about this, stroking himself late at night in the communal bathroom over the thought of the faces she’d make during her high, he couldn’t have Hange hiding in his neck when that finally happened. That wouldn’t do.
Still, it was hard to stop.
Levi let his finger slide down from her clit to push at her entrance, and the way her slick walls sucked him in had him lightheaded. Even though the captain was a disciplined man, It took him every ounce of restraint he had to remove himself from her.
Hange started to protest but her words became mumbles and then silence fell as she stared at the digit disappearing between his lips. Levi’s eyes fluttered closed and he moaned at the tangy scent and the slightly salty taste of her.
“You drive me fucking crazy,” he whispered, hoisting Hange up by her thighs and diving into a deep kiss. She wrapped her legs around his waist, arms holding on to the back of his neck and his shoulder.
Hange rutted her hips against his clothed cock, following the rhythm of their tongues, her warmness and wetness radiating even through the fabric.
Levi moved them away from the wall, turning around to let her fall onto the mattress, ass right at the edge of the bed. He pulled her panties down her gorgeous long legs, taking a minute to marvel at the sight of her glistening pussy before falling to his knees.
He caressed Hange’s thighs, then pushed them down until they were flush against the mattress. Levi thanked the flexibility the Survey Corps training gave its soldiers as he watched her open herself as much as she could to him.
Hange shivered at Levi's kisses on her inner thighs and at the light circles his thumb traced on the sensitive skin near her knees. He made a path towards her hips and lay a final kiss on her slit. Only then he licked a stripe from her entrance to her clit. Levi closed his eyes for a second and he let out a throaty groan as he finally got a taste of her straight from the font.
“I can’t believe we’re doing this, Four Eyes” he breathed against her pussy. “You’re so good.”
Hange arched her back away from the bed and grabbed his sheets as his tongue prodded at her hole. Then, she was arching in the opposite way, back pressed hard against the mattress, head up, fingers once again tangled in Levi’s hair, holding his head in place as his lips latched on to her clit, soft tongue alternating between flicking it up and down and making circles all around it. She seemed to like the circles best.
Levi sped up his pace, marveling at the sounds Hange was making for him. Her sharp breaths were slowly and steadily being replaced by moans, which grew louder and quicker at each roll of his tongue. As her back started to rise from the mattress once again, and as her hands pressed his head down harder against her pussy, he knew she was close. His eyes shoot up to her, ready to burn the image into his memory. Her face was red and sweaty, eyes shut tightly, mouth agape, lips so swollen and glossy from their kissing. Hange looked like a goddamn goddess and Levi was worshipping her the way she deserved.
Hange's moans became shorter and shorter building up until a drawn-out whimper took over. This was it. Levi pressed his tongue flat and hard against her clit, and her whole body tensed up under him. Her legs shivered and her thighs tried to rise from the bed, but Levi pushed them down with his palms again, his tongue now pressing small firm circles on her clit, dragging out her orgasm 'til the last drop.
Her whine morphed into an anguished cry of pleasure as Levi’s tongue gradually slowed down, still firm against her oversensitive nub. When he finally stopped, Hange was pushing his forehead away from her. He sat back on his ankles to watch her with a cocky smile on the corner of his lips, her arousal smeared all over his cheeks and chin.
“Levi,” Hange panted “I had no idea you could fuck like that.”
“I haven’t fucked you,” Levi stood up, then added: “yet.”
His reply made her giggle, but as Hange sat on the bed and glanced at his pants, her eyes widened in silent panic.
Levi looked down to find his briefs and part of his open fly damp, with whitish stains starting to form in the drier parts. His blood froze during the split-second he believed he had cum in his pants just from eating Hange out, but, to his relief, it was the result of her rubbing against him earlier.
Given his natural clean-freak disposition, Levi would’ve thought something like this would annoy him, instead, it made his cock throb under the soiled pants.
“Sorry, Levi! I’ll get them cleaned when we-”
Levi took a step forward to hover over his colleague, one hand pushing her torso back to the bed, his knee nudging one of her legs to the side so he could shove his middle and ring fingers into her. Despite the abruptness of this intrusion, he slid in without resistance. Hange gasped and he cursed as her walls clamped around him.
“Looks like you’re ready,” he said, making a hook movement with his fingers as he pulled them out. Levi removed his shirt and hung it on one of the pegs behind his door. He used his ruined pants to wipe his hands and face, then discarded them next to Hange’s clothes on the floor.
There were no barriers between them now, no secrets, Levi thought, as he stood naked between Hange’s legs. Her hands traveled up his abdomen, soft palms tracing his muscles, making him shudder under her light touch. She pulled him closer for a kiss while retreating to lay further back on the bed. When they reached their destination, she shifted her weight to the side, showing him what she wanted.
Levi obeyed, laying on his back as she positioned herself above him, legs on each side of his hips, wet pussy lips hugging his dick, pressing it against his stomach.
Hange started out slow, rolling her hips back and forth, the sway of her body so fluid it had Levi hypnotized. He tried to get a hold of her breasts, but Hange caught his wrists, trapping them behind his head. She lowered herself on his chest to lay little pecks on his lips, which soon became deep kisses. She moaned in his mouth each time his tip poked at her clit.
Hange freed one of her hands to play with Levi's chest. He watched unblinking as she dipped her thumb and index finger in her mouth before trapping one of his nipples between them. She twiddled with nub and Levi couldn’t hold back his moans, the sensation completely overwhelming.
“So sensitive,” she smiled down at him, and the sight was so divine Levi wondered if maybe he’d died and was in heaven. He was so entranced he didn’t have time to react when Hange guided him to her entrance and sank down.
“Fuck! Han-” his words melted into an incomprehensible mewl.
An eternity fantasizing during the Senior Officers’ meetings wouldn’t have prepared him for how fucking fantastic it felt to be inside Hange. She was impossibly tight and yet it was so easy to slide in and out of her. Hange didn’t give him time to get used to her grip, setting a steady pace from the get-go. Levi would occasionally snap his hips to meet her thrusts, and every time he did so her pussy clenched around him, making him see stars.
The best part was feeling all of this while watching Hange’s face contort in pleasure, her usually innocent big brown eyes, now half-lidded, shutting hard whenever he hit some secret spot deep inside of her. When her lips parted to let out a moan, he couldn’t help but capture them in a kiss, swallowing her sounds. The feeling of her tongue gliding through his somehow made the pleasure he was feeling skyrocket. If heaven felt like this, he didn’t care if he died tomorrow in the expedition.
His soul just about left his body when out of nowhere Hange tightened more than he thought possible around him. Levi looked up in confusion, only to find a mischievous grin on her face. She did that on purpose and oh fuck-
Again.
And again.
Hange kept this up, bouncing faster and faster on his cock. Indescribable pleasure built up in him, the sensation so intense and overwhelming that Levi didn’t even have it in him to moan. So he panted, louder and louder, quicker and quicker, until, with a final long squeeze Hange tipped him over the edge, and then he was shuddering, spilling all he had inside of her.
They lay side by side for several minutes, first catching their breath, and then breathing silently. The mattress shifted when Hange propped herself to get up, but Levi got a hold of her wrist before she could leave the bed.
“Where do you think you’re going, Four Eyes?”
“To clean myself up” she replied, moving to leave the bed, but Levi wouldn’t budge. “What? I thought my tidiness would make you proud” She joked, getting an amused puff from him, but his hand remained in place.
“Stay. Please.”
Hange lay back again, facing him, and Levi sighed in relief. He wrapped his arm around her, pulling her closer to bury his face in the crook of her neck, his nose drowning in her hair. His lips found the shell of her ear to plant his confession “I wanna go again”, to which she replied with a chuckle and a light caress of his hands. A truer confession, however, would be that he simply didn’t want this night to end.
“As much as I’d like to, I gotta be able to ride my horse tomorrow”
Right.
Tomorrow.
His thoughts must have been made transparent by his expression because Hange’s playful demeanor changed to a serious one. She lay on her back, staring at the ceiling in silence for long minutes.
“Do you think we’ll ever see this thing through?” She said, finally.
He tilted his head to the side, and she looked at him out of the corner of her eye.
“Titans. The walls. These expeditions” Hange elaborated, looking at the ceiling again, “I know these things take time, generations even, but I can’t help but wonder if we’ll see an age without Titans in our lifetime.”
“No.”
She smiled weakly at his honest reply and the expression looked so out of place on her face. Levi’s heart felt suddenly heavy.
“I thought you liked your research.”
“I do, it’s just- wouldn’t you rather have a choice, Levi?”
He would, but having grown without the luxury of taking anything, not even sunlight, for granted, he knew better than to entertain false hopes. He should be honest.
“Maybe we have a chance,” is what Levi found himself saying, instead. “Maybe tomorrow we’ll kill every last titan outside of the walls or you’ll find some secret poison or come up with some incredible weapon that will wipe them out. Maybe tomorrow will be our last expedition.”
She smiled a strange smile, melancholic and complicit, her eyes reflecting exactly what he was feeling. It was a conversation without words.
Thanks for lying for me. Thanks for lying with me.
Hange turned on her side, this time with his back to him, and pulled one of his arms close to her chest.
“Yeah. Maybe.”

21. Don't hold back 🫠🫠🫠
levihan ofc
Smut Scribbles 21: “Don’t hold back.”
Meeting in Secret (NSFW) Characters: Levi x Hange Word Count: 367 words
Hands splayed, palms slipping against the wooden desktop, Hange struggled to hold themself up. Their legs trembled as Levi’s urgent movements knocked the desk against the wall. The small room was filled with quiet gasps and the slap of skin. Levi’s grip upon their hips tightened; an agonised sound escaped him, breath scorching the air behind them.
“Hah–  Ah, don’t–  Don’t hold back-” Hange fought for air.
The desk lurched into the wall. Sounds came louder; the smack of flesh; half-stifled moans. Levi’s fingers were buried deep enough to leave blemishes upon Hange’s thighs. A bead of sweat rolled along his neck and dripped down onto their bare back. Below, Hange was bowed beneath him; Levi leaned into them, his fingers threaded through theirs, desperate, clutching. As his thrusts became faster he clung to them, his grip tight enough to fracture bone.
“Levi– Ah, Levi–”
There wasn’t enough time to savour each other. There wasn’t time to relish the slow, delicious cresting of pleasure as it broke over them. It wouldn’t be long before others noticed their absence and asked questions. Sex had to be quick, sordid, with trousers slung unceremoniously around ankles in case either of them heard approaching voices. Releasing a hand, Levi brought the pad of his thumb to their clit and stroked in time with his motions.
A wave of heat rolled over Hange. Their head fell backwards as they cried out. Knuckles whitening over Levi’s hand, their nails carved into the desk’s surface. Every muscle seized; their legs stiffened between his own. Suddenly, Levi felt them clench around him; a blistering heat. His breath was ripped from his lungs as he came unannounced. Levi was rigid, body rooted to the spot; his hand fused to theirs, skin melted against their own. He could not move, could not utter a word as he felt the rush of release. And then, Levi slumped forward, his chest slick against Hange’s back. His frantic heart thudded its drumbeat along Hange’s spine.
“Shit…” Hange managed. Levi’s arms were wrapped around their waist, his hair damp and matted against their neck. Hot breath tickled their ear.
Hange smiled, aglow, as tangled, sweat-soaked hair swept across their face. Half-turning towards him, they felt Levi’s nose graze their cheek as he lowered himself to their mouth. ... Thanks, Anon! Only had time for a quickie this week so I hope this'll satisfy!

It’s wipWednesday on Twitter and although I said no more sneak peeks, I just HAVE to put this up here. I haven’t touched this in a few days now but here’s more of the wedding chapter 🥰
Hange looked to the side upon hearing Onyankopon, seeing Falco approaching them. The young man was dressed in incredibly smart formal clothes; a simple black suit and he smiled with warmth and pride as he arrived at the end of the aisle. Clutched in his hands was a small white box, and when he stood before Onyankopon, Falco carefully opened it to reveal a pair of rings.
Upon gentle urging, Levi carefully grasped the ring intended for Hange and pulled it from the box; it was a simple band made of platinum that shone like a mirror as it caught the light. Levi gave a small sigh before gently holding Hange’s hand, clutching the ring as he gazed lovingly into their eyes.
“Hange, this ring is a representation of my love for you; I am yours, now and forever for the rest of eternity. It is the gift that lasts forever just as the ring itself has no end. Know that I am always going to be there beside you. I love you, always.”
Levi’s voice was gentle and filled with nothing but pure love and warmth which wasn’t lost on Hange. The platinum band effortlessly slid onto their finger, and they couldn’t help but admire the way that the sun reflected off the highly polished surface. It was simple, but that had been exactly what they and Levi had wanted.
“And now your ring to Levi, Hange.”
Hange took in a deep breath, hoping that it at least made them give off some kind of sense of courage, and proceeded to take the second silvery-coloured band from the box where it lay. They held it up as Levi offered his hand to them, and they almost felt giddy with excitement as they prepared themself.
“Levi, I give you this ring on this beautiful summer evening as a token of my undying love and appreciation for you and everything that you have ever done for me. It is my way of showing you just how much I love you; to show you that I am absolutely delighted to be the person who has the honour of calling you their husband from this moment until forever.
“May it serve as a reminder that you are always going to be in my heart, and that you are mine to cherish forever until the end of time for not even death itself shall part us.”
The ring slid onto Levi’s finger with ease, and Hange couldn’t help but gaze into their lover’s eyes. This was it, the moment for which they had been eagerly waiting for such a long time. Hange could only just hold back the excitement they felt, heart racing in their chest as Falco retreated to his space beside Gabi.
Onyankopon gave a smile as he looked at his two closest friends stood before him, their hands now adorned with the wedding bands that they had each chosen. Seeing their relationship blooming throughout the five years that he had known them had been incredible to witness, and he couldn’t help but admire the pure adoration that they had for each other.
“Levi and Hange, you have each expressed your unwavering love for each other in the most beautiful way through the commitment and promises you have just made to each other. You have kissed many a thousand times, maybe even more. But today brings the beginning of a new journey where you are not simply just best friends and partners, rather now becoming husband and wife. And, with this today, this next kiss is a promise with which you seal your marriage.”
Hange’s lips were soft, almost like silk against Levi’s own as they leaned in toward each other. His fingers teased the strands of their hair as he breathed in the slightly earthy scent of their skin. What he wouldn’t give to stay in this moment for the rest of his life, and time itself felt like it stood still as he and his now-spouse parted. Hange gazed at him with nothing but love, and it felt like a pleasant warmth settled in across his chest.

The Momentum Principle (read on ao3)
Tumblr media
Words: 2566 Fandom: Shingeki no Kyojin | Attack on Titan Rating: General Audiences Warnings: No Archive Warnings Apply Relationships: Levi Ackerman & Hange Zoë, Levi Ackerman/Hange Zoë, Levi Ackerman & Nanaba & Erwin Smith & Mike Zacharias & Hange Zoë Characters: Hange Zoë, Levi Ackerman, Erwin Smith, Mike Zacharias, Nanaba (Shingeki no Kyojin) Additional Tags: Alternate Universe - Modern Setting, Alternate Universe - College/University, Best Friends, Unrequited Crush, Canon Non-Binary Character, They/Them Pronouns for Hange Zoë, SNK Veterans - Freeform, and they were ROOMMATES, (oh my god they were roommates), no beta we die like that vine ref SIKE IT'LL NEVER DIE, pretentious titling because that's how i roll
Summary: Studies show that staying awake for over twenty-four hours has similar effects on the human brain as having a bloodstream concentration of alcohol way over legal limits. Biology major Hange Zoë is aware of that fact. Sadly, they’re also aware that there are finals to pass, and not enough hours in a day to study for them.
Tumblr media
Hange frowned at the page before their eyes and clicked the table lamp off and back on, ignoring the annoyed stares the repeated and ineffective gesture got them from the students around –served them all right anyway, they mused, when they’d all been regularly stealing Hange glances they didn’t even bother to try and make discreet all morning. But something other than being ogled at like a circus freak was making it hard to decipher the words in front of them, though they couldn’t put their finger on what exactly. The world around them had been seeming especially bleak lately and even more so today, which wasn’t unusual during the intense studying marathons they famously put themself through with finals drawing near, but they couldn’t recall a time where it had actually impacted their already damaged eyesight; and the persistent, pulsing ache tracing along their temples sure wasn’t helping.
The most rational part of their brain offered stress and weariness as culprits, and Hange had to admit they couldn’t easily dismiss either of those. The cramming schedule they’d been imposing on themself may have gotten a little out of hand in the last couple of weeks, so much so Hange couldn’t even remember the last time they’d set foot in the living room to share homemade dinners or play board games with their four roommates like they usually would during cold winter evenings. They hadn’t even partook in early morning idle chitchat or occasional evening drinks on their way home from the campus library, not when they’d been consistently arriving right on opening time –they’d been pulling all nighters more often than not, anyway, and felt too restless to stay home and wait for the others to get ready– and had become the last student to leave it at night.
Hange closed their eyes for a minute as they let their head fall forward, rolling their neck and shoulders and relishing in the satisfying crack their muscles and tendons sighed out at the stretch. If only their brain could gain knowledge through osmosis via that simple contact between their forehead and over-highlighted textbook; if information were to be solutes, then, considering how little they’d efficiently memorized lately, it would flow right inside their lowly concentrated head without a doubt. They smiled at that absurd reflection, giddy with the realization that hey, they’d apparently managed to remember some things from those hellish Introduction to Fluid Mechanics lectures.
That unexpected sense of comfort was short lived, however, when they were hit with a wave of the increasingly familiar nausea their self inflicted sleep deprivation never failed to bring. Hange opened their eyes to fight the dizziness and took deep breathes in and out, silently counting up the right inhale to exhale ratio –simultaneously urging their body to hold up for a little while longer.
Two weeks, they pleaded. Just two more weeks and I can take a break.
Seven long sleepless days and nights of tensed cramming, followed by a week of nerve-wracking and hopefully mostly accurate square ticking in reply to more often than not purposefully confusingly phrased questions, and then they’d be free to hang out with their friends and be a, well, not exactly normal, but close to normal young adult again.
But the thought saddened more than it motivated them, and they had to consciously stop themself from looking around to see if they could spot any of the three blondes they’d come to think of as family. Erwin, Nanaba and Mike all had similar exams to take soon and the spacious library had filled in by whatever time it was now, so they would no doubt be within these four walls. Sundays usually involved morning revising, followed by strictlynon-academic plans everyone would have previously agreed onfor their common weekly afternoon off.
Hange winced at the pang of loneliness they felt when they realized they actually had no idea what their closest friends would be up to later. It only got worse when they remembered that Levi, who they’d been trying not to focus any thoughts on as those were proving more and more distracting these past few months, hadn’t tried to coax them into coming along this weekend like he’d done since they’d started studying more intensely. Hange had noticed Erwin’s surprised glances and Mike and Nanaba’s barely disguised teasing laughs when he’d started doing it, and they couldn’t really blame any of them –after all, that initiative from Levi had been a drastic switch from their previously established social roles.
Lost in memories of Levi’s techniques to get them to go out, which had mostly consisted of an association of almost threats and intense glaring until they would caved –which they hadn’t, amazingly– it took them a minute to notice the hand upon their right shoulder.
“Get up,” a familiar voice whispered up close, startling them.
Shit. Think of the devil.
Levi had also been pestering them about taking an actual break, on top of the Sunday festivities they’d been avoiding, but up until now their shared roommates had acted as enough of a buffer that Hange had been able to pretend they hadn’t noticed his nagging messages in the groupchat or pointed stares near the laundry machine.
“I’m fine right here,” they said cheerfully, pretending to focus on their textbook again and turning the page they’d been staring for a while without managing to actually read a word of it.
They weren’t sure they could get up, really, not without betraying their exhausted state to their closest friend and having to admit just how shitty they’d been at taking care of themself lately.
They swallowed back a shocked yelp as hands seized them up and pulled them to their feet anyway, and they caught themself on the table at the last moment to prevent the inevitable fall that would await them if they really were to put all their weight on their knees right now.
“What are you doing?” they asked through gritted teeth, unable to glare back at him as the head rush made dark spots dance in front of their eyes. “Let me go, I need to study.”
Levi wordlessly –and annoyingly easily– tore them away from their spot, half carrying them until they were both standing in front of one of the nearby arch windows. Hange muffled their protesting squeals out of some remnant of respect for the nosy judgmental students around, even though they knew Levi’s powerful glaring would probably prevent any of them from protesting at the noise of their struggling in the otherwise religiously quiet space.
And then they looked up and caught sight of their reflection.
And shamefully realized they could have given their curious peers the benefit of the doubt and hypothesized there might have been a valid reason behind all the curious looks they’d been getting all morning.
Hange was wearing their long sleeved purple octopus pajama top, the buttons ridiculously mismatched, with unmatched green cat-patterned pajamas bottoms –that they realized with a quiet gasp were probably Levi’s and not theirs, now that they were noticing the pants ended well above their ankles. There wasn’t one but two hair ties failing to hold their greasy matted hair up and away from their face, and their goggle-shaped sunglasses were hanging crooked on their nose with the rubber band twisted on both their temples –which finally explained part of their lingering headache, and why it was so challenging to read.
“What you need is to go home, Four Eyes.”
Tears sprung to their eyes before they could stop them, and for a minute they only stared at their shiny mirror image in quiet puzzlement. These weren’t tears of shame even if, as used as they were to being unconventional and to other people’s reaction to their self expression, this accidental pajama-in-public incident was definitely an all time new low for them. Exhaustion could have played a role, and the dark circles under their eyes as well as their paler than ever complexion easily spelled it out for them.
But mostly, Hange felt guilty. Levi had tried to mask it, but his voice had wavered over his own nickname for them, like he felt pained at seeing them in this state, and he couldn’t quite meet their eyes when that was his main tool to get anyone to comply to his requests.
“I don’t think I can,” they replied honestly.
His now openly worried gaze finally met theirs in the glass in front of them and he frowned, opening his mouth to object.
But Hange shook their head slowly in defeat.
They weren’t arguing with him, they were simply stating a truth.
They knew they must have taken the bus to get here, but they honestly couldn’t remember any part of the journey –hell, they couldn’t even remember putting shoes on, although they were glad they’d thought of that at least. They didn’t think they had a key to the apartment on them, as they usually resided in the deep pocket of the wool coat they’d forgotten to put on even before going out in this freezing winter weather. And practical issues asides, they didn’t actually trust themself to actually make it home in one piece right now, not even in the middle of a bright busy morning in the city and to their place that really wasn’t that far off campus.
Levi narrowed his eyes at them before nodding once, sharp.
“Wait outside. I’ll meet you in five.”
But Hange stood there, equally confused and chagrined at his statement. Was he going to go home with them? No, that wouldn’t do.
Levi had his own finals to study for, Hange couldn’t impose on him like that because they’d been stupid enough to push themself past their limit. They would simply have to endure a couple more hours of trying not to pass out at their seat until noon came around and all of their roommates went home anyway, to tag along without disrupting anyone’s schedule in the process.
Levi’s hands squeezed at their shoulders firmly, and his stare hardened in the window as if he could hear them reaching that conclusion.
Then he let go but didn’t move too far, seemingly unsure if Hange could actually stand by themself.
They rolled their eyes fondly, and –precociously– turned around, sporting what they hoped looked like a gentle smile and not a maniac grin –Levi’s expression remained stubbornly set, so they couldn’t tell either way– before moving carefully towards the door. They tried their hardest not to stumble on the way, and coughed to mask their giggling when they failed and almost tripped on their own feet.
Levi met them at the back exit of the building with their backpack and his own stuff shortly, and Hange didn’t bother trying to hide that they’d nearly fallen asleep on the stairs in the few minutes they’d been apart.
He frowned as they yawned without putting their hands to their mouth, but uncharacteristically didn’t comment on it as he grabbed their elbow to direct them towards an unknown car a few feet away.
They dug their heels in the sidewalk when they realized he’d ordered a paying ride for them.
“Wait, Levi, there’s no need for that. The bus–
“Won’t be here for another twenty minutes,” he interrupted. “You’re not passing out in the streets again, not under my watch.”
They recognized his clipped tone as the one that didn’t suffer any kind of discussion, even as he mentioned that party a month ago. Hange sighed inwardly, but followed his steps –they were way too tired to fight him anymore.
“What, like you’d get worried?” they still teased –they were exhausted, not dead. No way in hell would they miss an occasion to needle their favorite neat freak.
Levi snorted, and had Hange been less asleep on their feet, they’d have felt proud that they’d managed to get that sound out of him.
“I’d worry about my back, for one. I don’t want to know what carrying your unconscious ass home twice would do to it.”
“Hey, not fair!” They whined in protest, missing their target completely when they tried to playfully slap his arm. “I was at least ten pounds heavier then! And besides, Mike did most of the carrying, didn’t he?”
Hange couldn’t remember much from that night, but the rumor –in the form of Erwin and Nanaba’s recollection of the evening as they’d told it to them the following day, anyway– had Levi so worried about them passing out drunk he’d been too restlessly anxious to carry them himself, and had instead covered them in all of their friends’ coats, shoving their unconscious body in Mike’s strong arms, and then proceeding to walk beside him to closely monitor their breathing and that they wouldn’t choke on their own tongue or surprise vomit.
Hange only recalled waking up propped against multiple pillows with a pounding head and a grumpy –well, grumpier than usual– and sleep-deprived Levi who had shoved a glass of water in their shaky hand and scolded them about their alcohol consumption for the next half hour or so. It had then taken them drinking and keeping down a whole liter of diverse hydrating fluids before he’d finally left them alone to go and nurse his own hangover, and it was only after he’d left that Hange had noticed the newfound tidiness of their room and how the purple fatboy that would normally lay forgotten in a corner of the room –and under a pile of questioningly clean clothes and textbooks– had been pushed right next to their bed with a possibly Levi-shaped indentation in it.
Levi didn’t answer their rhetorical question, instead stopping in his tracks and giving them a clinical once over.
“What?” they prompted, barely resisting the urge to cross their arms to hide themself from his examination.
“Nothing,” he replied quickly, averting his eyes and opening the car door for them.
He muttered something under his breath still, and Hange’s ears caught a few words that sounded suspiciously like end up disappearing if you keep this up.
He greeted the driver and confirmed his identity as Hange plopped down with a relieved groan, and didn’t miss the concerned look Levi shot them as he sat next to them. His hand slid down from where it was still gripping their elbow to rest gently on their forearm as the car started, and they could swear he gave it a small, awkward but infinitely soft couple of comforting pats.
Hange boldly took advantage of this atypically lengthy physical contact, and moved so they could slide their hands together almost nonchalantly –almost, because they nearly faltered when Levi’s neck snapped to stare at their fingers in awe.
Hange smiled as naturally as they could to try and ease the shock from his features.
“I’ll pay you back for the ride,” they promised, squeezing his hand once.
They let him go after that. It wouldn’t do for their most introverted friend who was making sure they were getting safely home to get a brain aneurysm from their unexpected and possibly unwanted touches, after all.
“Tch. You better,” he grunted, moving his hand back to his lap immediately.
They couldn’t help but smile again when they took note that his tone wasn’t nearly as biting as they knew it could be.

In your arms
needed some levihan comfort hehe
Words: 886
_________
It was one of those days that Hange Zoë could just not take it. They had experience in not sleeping for days, sure, but this is different. Firstly, they never had to deal with public opinion, secondly, they weren't burnt out, and thirdly, their self confidence has taken a major hit. Truly, why were they Erwin's successor? They always knew they could never amount to the greatest, but they honestly just feel like the most incompetent commander.
At least they know not to run away from responsibility; their next—and best—choice for the succeeding commander is only twenty. No way they're letting someone that young deal with this. No matter how painful their headache right now is. No matter how blurry their vision is becoming despite having their glasses on; they have to keep pushing forward, even if they start losing their sanity.
It's cold, but putting their coat on would be a hassle, and fuck— they just want to tear down their office. But alas, a knock on the door. One they seem to be familiar with.
Levi, they assume.
"Come in," they instruct, fixing their posture.
Indeed. it's the Captain, and he's brought... tea?
"Thought you might need it. Tea and some company," he says with a sigh, and a desolate-as-ever espression, gently kicking the door closed and locking it.
"Shouldn't you sleep too? I know you're an insomniac, but you should still try," they slump onto their desk, laying on their arms.
"Exactly. I'm the insomniac here. You aren't. Sleep."
"Can't."
"Deal with it tomorrow."
"I can't."
"You can. Go to bed, Glasses."
"I fucking can't, Levi. If I keep delaying the shit I have to do—which I've been doing a fucking lot lately—they're gonna keep piling and piling and, I don't know if you've noticed, but the entire fucking world wants to fucking kill every person in this island, and I can't think of a fucking solution, and our best option is to fucking euthanize ourselves. I—I can't—I can't fucking—"
With every syllable, their heart beats faster; with every word, their hearing gets hazier; with every sentence, breathing gets a little harder.
Levi knows Hange. He knows when they're about to break. And so, he knows how to calm them down.
So he walks towards them. He places the tea on their desk, takes off his coat, places it around them, before finally hugging them and resting his cheek on their shoulder.
That's when he felt tears on Hange's face.
"I'm—I'm so sorry..." they whisper.
"I know you're tired too—I'm sorry... for lashing out like that," they manage to hiccup between labored breaths.
"Don't... apologize. You're going through a lot. I know. "
Hange can feel it. The sting in their eyes. Levi too.
"You... don't have to..."
"You want me to."
"Still—"
"I want to stay."
"But—"
"Like how you stayed with me."
They know what he's talking about.
Oh, how he longs for those lost nights.
Those times were, still hard of course, but much simpler. He misses when Hange would still laugh and joke about dire situations to lighten things up. He misses when they would knock at his door at nights after every comrades' deaths to check up on him. When they would comfort him; when they kept him safe in their arms; when the two of them would talk until the sun rose; when they simply kept each other company through the night; when they fell asleep on the floor and he carried them to sleep on his bed.
He never expected to think this, but he wishes for the time when titans were just that: titans.
The Commander turns sideways on their chair and leans on Levi's body. They're gripping on the sleeve of his polo; he takes the opportunity to lead them to sit on the floor.
They never make a sound when they cry. Or at least, they try not to. This time, they're too tired to do anything but let their tears fall.
"Wanna drink?" Levi brings attention to the cup. They nod slowly.
The warmth of the tea against their lips provides familiar comfort. Levi really does make good tea, they think, but they can't seem to recall if they've tasted this before.
"Chamomile. The one we tried when we went to Marley."
"It's good..."
"Is that so?"
The Commander lowers the cup and exhales.
"You gonna do anything next morning?" they ask him, gently grabbing one of his hands.
"Nothing too important."
They turn to look at his eyes, as if asking him to stay.
"I'll be right here," he places an arm around them.
They feel a tug in their heart and burries their face in his shoulder. They wonder if he feels the smile on their face as they drift swiftly to sleep.
Levi gains a sense of relief and carries the sleeping Hange to his quarters. Carefully, he places them on his bed and removes their glasses and eyepatch. He takes a moment to look at them.
Despite their restful state, stress is still evident on Hange's face; Levi slowly lies next to them and gives a tender kiss on their forehead. Their face seems to have relaxed. He tucks away the hair bothering their cheeks.
"Goodnight, Hange." he lays next to them.
And for tonight, they're safe in his arms.

A levihan Valentines Day hc/drabble:
Chemistry teacher Hange 🧪 x Janitor Levi 🧹 Attack on school castes AU
Hange gave Levi this weird looking necklace:
Tumblr media
L: “What’s this shitty glasses? It looks like a bug!”
H: “That’s a molecular geometry 🤭 It’s a little gift, just wear it.” Rushing out of school, with no further explanation. [blushing]
————————————————————
L: Tch… 😒 that crazy four eyes! Tucking the silver chain into his pocket, he headed to the utility room to grab his cleaning stuff.
After Levi finished mopping the lab floor, he started organizing Hange’s messy desk.
————————————————————
While sorting piles of paper and moving junk, something caught his attention. His eyes sparkled with curiosity.
It was a red box, he opened it and found a card inside. An extremely familiar shape was printed on it.
Tumblr media
He stared at it for a few seconds with knitted brows when suddenly realization hit him. He pulled the chain out of his pocket. Indeed, it was the same bizarre structure!
————————————————————
He turned the card and read Hange’s untidy handwriting:
“Your necklace is designed after the molecular structure of Dopamine, “Feel-Good / Love neurotransmitter”. As you put it on, let it be a reminder that you are loved in all your magic.”
His lips curled into a half smile as he wore the chain around his neck.
“Tch… you idiot glasses!”
————————————————————
A few hours later, there was a knock on Hange’s door.
H: “Levi! What are you doing here?!” stepping aside to let him inside.
L: “I’m a little low on Dopamine” handing Hange a bottle of wine and his self-made chocolate 🍫
H: “So you found it!” 😳🫣
L: “You wanted me to find it, didn’t you?” 😏
————————————————————
Hange hugged him tight, fingers running over the chain around his neck, then up to his soft undercut.
They looked into eachothers eyes, no words needed for them to communicate; slowly closing in for their first kiss.
————————————————————
When they broke apart to catch their breath, Hange spoke first.
H: “Did your Dopamine level go up?”
L: “Just a little bit”
He leaned in for another sweet kiss.
Happy Valentines Day!
🫶🏻🍫❤️

maybe, probably...
Summary:
Levi and Hange were inseparable until they weren't. Years later, at an event, the two are fatefully reunited. Will they attempt to rekindle what once was there? Or has the flame long dwindled during their separation?

You may think this body is the home of a hopeless romantic. I beg to differ but who knows? When it comes to LeviHan, I may be one.
Everyone know that they deserved to live a fairytale romance, right? And I attempted that.
Maybe, probably was inspired by three scenarios.
Taylor Swift's song Enchanted
Tumblr media
Some scenes from the movie 13 Going on 30
Tumblr media
The lantern scene from Tangled
Tumblr media
When @djmarinizelablog asked me if I wanted to participate, I almost choke. I said yes, only to almost die again when she told me the theme was Marahuyo which translates to " To be enchanted".
Now, I was like: How the HELL I'm going to write something cute and fluffy when I only know pain? LeviHan IS PAIN!
But I coped with the crisis and I came with a result: angst and fluff. That's how I roll.
Also, forget characterization. Throw it outbthe window because I wanted "sweet tooth candy melts scenario" and that's how both, especially Levi, feels about Hange in this piece.
Here is maybe, probably in English, posted on Ao3.
Spanish version on Wattpad under the name tal vez, quizás...

Shades of Another World
Based on the art by @catyypss
Tumblr media
Levi has a way with colors and paints that is unlike anything Hange has ever seen before. The moment he sets up his canvas and arranges his equipment, she knows that he’s just a paintbrush’s stroke away from capturing the whole universe and translating it on his canvas in streaks and splashes of color.
It’s beautiful to watch, and she feels quite privileged to be able to see him paint. Best friend or not, Levi has always been secretive about his art. He stores his pieces in his workroom, letting only a few of them be seen by anyone (Which kind of makes sense because they’re the reflection of his innermost self). And Hange’s sure that no one in the entire world has ever been allowed to watch Levi Ackerman paint. So it’s only natural to feel absolutely giddy and warm when Levi finally allows her to see him while he worked—but only after years of insistence.
Hange Zoe marvels at her friend’s command over the shades of the world, the way his slender fingers move the brush, and guide the reds and blues and greens. At first it looks like haphazard colors strewn over the white surface, but then they take shape and arrange themselves, and Hange realizes that each stroke had a meaning, a purpose to the bigger picture, and how the absence of even a single speck would have diminished the final effect.
She just sits in wonder as Levi leans back on his chair, wiping his hands on a piece of cloth. He has made a horse galloping in a field, with the wide sky spread above. Sunlight plays on its mane and flank, and shadows dance on its body in just the right places. The field is full of flowers, lifting their faces in the gold pouring from the sun above.
It feels like the painting is breathing.
She’s sure she can hear the grunts of the horse, and the telltale whistle of the breeze.
‘You’re amazing Levi,’ she says a little breathlessly, turning to smile widely at him.
He just clicks his tongue and looks away.
Hange giggles. When will that shorty learn to take a compliment?
‘You know what?’ Hange leans her elbow on his desk. His eyes narrow suspiciously. ‘You should teach me how to paint this good.’
‘Fuck no,’ Levi glares. ‘I don’t teach. And especially not to morons like you.’
‘C’mon Levi,’ she whines.
‘No. You’ll probably manage to break everything you touch.’
‘Hey! I’m not like that!’ she cries indignantly. ‘And besides, I do know some basics; I just need to get my hands settled on it. I know it’ll never be as good as you, but I want to learn. Pleeeease.’
She stares at him with wide pleading eyes.
He folds his arms and glares at the window beside him. Hange pokes his shoulder hard with her finger and continues to do that repeatedly when he ignores her.
‘C’mon you grump, don’t be selfish. Share your talents.’
He grabs her finger and glares at her as she pokes him again. Anyone else would’ve pissed themselves at his menacing expression but Hange just grins.
‘You’ll love it too! I promise it’ll be fun.’
He sighs and pushes her away.
‘Fine,’ he grumbles.
‘Yesss!’ She punches the air.
*****

Levi has a shed in his backyard where he has set up his art studio. Next morning, Hange walks into it for the first time ever. It’s as neat as she expected, with paint tubes, canvases, sketch pads and so many other colorful things arranged in neat piles and labeled boxes in shelves. An easel and a comfortable chair are standing right next to the window, and a large work table is set beside it. A fair few of his paintings are hanging from the walls.
Hange takes off her jacket and hangs it. Levi follows her in and closes the door behind them quietly.
‘So what will we start with?’ Hange exclaims, picking up a brush excitedly, hovering next to the canvas.
‘Not that,’ Levi pulls her by the arm towards the table. When they’re both seated, he passes her a blank sheet, a paintbrush and a tube of paint. ‘First I need to see how good you are at handling a brush. Start.’
Hange looks at him uncertainly, ‘Um, so what exactly should I do?’
‘Anything. I just need to see how you use a paintbrush.’
‘Okay . . .’
She begins with simple shapes and figures and he silently watches her work. In between he sometimes asks her to make something.
‘Your grip seems fine, on the whole,’ he says when she’s finished. ‘But there’s still a lot you need to work on.’
Hange nods eagerly.
Levi then proceeds to explain the basics of using a brush, different types of grips for various strokes, when to apply pressure and so on. Then he observes her as she follows it all and guides her in places she goes wrong. They sit there until the sun dips low in the sky and the shadows stretch out against the ground. By the time Hange gets up to leave, she’s dead tired but happy.
Their routine continues, and each day he takes her one step ahead, explaining the basics of color theory, shading and so much more. Hange finds out that she’s seen Levi talking more than she ever had, in those classes; he seems relaxed, in his element. And Hange likes to think that it’s because he’s sharing his favorite thing, a part of himself, with his closest friend (as she prefers to call herself). And of course the thought makes her pleased beyond measure.

It’s another one of those days; Levi and Hange are in his studio and outside the summer sun shines in all its glory. She’s working on a technique he showed her, blotting a paper with paint-soaked fingers, trying—and failing—to bring about the proper effect. Levi is sitting by a canvas, painting away.
Hange drops her head on the table, and regards him over the rim of her glasses; sunlight dips over his face, slanting along his cheekbones. His brows are drawn in concentration, eyes following the constant sweep of his hand over the canvas.
‘Levi.’
‘Hmm?’
‘What’s your favorite thing to paint?’
‘Are you done with that?’ he points at the sheet in front of her.
‘I can’t get it right, but tell me—’
‘Then finish it up.’
‘Levi,’ she complains. ‘It’s a harmless question, I’m not gonna do anything else until you answer me. What do you like to paint the most?’
He sighs and puts his brush down, then leans back on his chair, contemplating her words. Hange waits in the wake of his silence.
‘The sky,’ he says after a while.
‘Why?’
‘Can’t you be satisfied with one answer?’ he grits out.
‘Not in my nature, shorty,’ she chuckles.
He picks up his brush and starts working again. She’s about to pester him further when he speaks softly.
‘It just . . . makes me feel free. The sky is unrestrained, limitless. I don’t know but, something about it just draws me in.’
Hange waits, knowing there’s more. She sees his fingers tighten around the brush, knuckles turning white. His next words come out fast and fumbling.
‘Every time I look up, I feel like I can breathe a little more easily—I'm so damn relieved that there’s—that there’s actually an open sky up there rather than—’
The brush slips from his finger as he stops short, eyes wide and staring into space.
‘Hey, are you okay?’ Hange gets up, rushing over to him. Levi blinks rapidly, shaking himself out of whatever is going on in his head. Hange puts a hand on his shoulder and he turns to her.
‘’M fine,’ he mutters, brushing her off. ‘How’s your progress?’ he gets up.
‘I can’t get it right!’ Hange grouches. ‘Why do I need to paint with fingers in the first place?’
‘It’s important for some pieces. It also helps to bring out a texture that a brush can’t manage at times,’ he explains patiently.
He dips his finger in some paint and shows her once more how to do it. They sit side by side and work on the sheet, and Levi corrects her wherever she goes wrong. But Hange has to admit that it's a boring practice and she’s seriously lacking some entertainment. So when Levi is focused on the sheet in front of them, she stealthily scoops up some red paint and smears it right on his cheek.
He freezes.
Hange knows she has a literal second before he’s after her; she jumps out of her seat with a shriek before he can snatch her arm and bounds to the other side of the room.
‘You. Are. So. Dead,’ he promises darkly and chases after her in a flash.
Hange sprints around the table, cackling like a madwoman, with Levi on the tail. In her chaotic scuffle she grabs onto the rest of that paint and as he gains on her, she splashes it squarely at him. With Levi dripping in red, Hange knows she’ll be dead for sure if he catches her now. She pelts out of the shed and into his backyard. Her howls of laughter echo in the silent afternoon and they both run in circles around the garden like some frisky children.
When he almost catches her, she turns around abruptly and jumps on him, taking him by surprise as they both tumble to the ground. He’s pinned beneath her and scowling through the mess on his face.
Everything is silent around them save for the chitter-chatter of birds and Hange’s giggles. Summer seems to be pouring on them lazily and she can see how his face shines in the warmth of the sun. She’s left him quite disheveled; he’s panting slightly; his shirt is stained and streaks of red are sliding down his forehead, cheeks and nose and—
Shrapnel is embedded in his face, blood trailing down his once flawless skin. He lays limp in her arms, dragging down her heart like an anchor to the bottom of the sea. Don’t die, her broken, wounded heart pleads, please don’t die.
Hange’s laughter tapers off. She stares at him with wide eyes.
‘Oi,’ Levi is frowning, sensing her sudden rigidness. ‘Four-eyes.’
She shivers violently and Levi pushes her off him gently. She sits upon the grass as her head pounds and her vision swims. She sucks in heavy breaths feeling like her lungs are in a chokehold. With a long breath, she pulls herself together and looks around. Levi is nowhere and she’s sitting alone in the yard.
‘Levi!’ she shouts, irrational panic laces her voice. She stumbles to her feet, searching left and right. He was right there with her, where did he go? Where could he have—
‘Relax,’ his steady voice sounds from behind her. She whips around to see him coming out of the house, holding a glass of water in one hand and tissues in the other, with which he’s wiping his now wet and blood—paint-free face clean. Her anxiety diminishes a touch.
He hands her the water and she gulps it down shakily. The cool liquid soothes her throat and calms her jangled nerves. Levi is gazing at her apprehensively and she wants to tell him that she’s okay and it was probably just the heat, but the words are trapped in her throat and nonsensical thoughts are swirling in her head—thoughts that are screaming that he’s gonna slip out of her grasp and die any second if she doesn’t do anything right now because he’s bleeding and dying out in her arms and they’re surrounded and there’s no way out.
‘Hange,’ she feels a cool hand on her arm, her gaze catches his, steel-blue irises watch her intensely.
She raises her trembling fingers and softly brushes them against his cheek, pale and smooth, not cut up and bleeding. He’s still under her touch, his eyes searching. She lets her gaze flit across his features, trying to release her throat from that chokehold.
‘You’re not . . . hurt?’ her whisper is small.
He frowns and seizes her hand, squeezing her fingers firmly, ‘No four-eyes. I’m fine.’
‘But you were,’ she murmurs feverishly. ‘And I . . . I couldn’t—’
She drops her forehead on his shoulder and shudders ‘Don’t do anything so reckless again.’
She doesn’t know how long they stand there like that, but Levi doesn’t move and she just breathes. Maybe he thinks she’s finally gone mad, but he doesn't say anything, doesn't push her off. In truth, she can’t understand a thing herself, or the words she’s saying, but she knows that something made her feel like she was losing Levi. And the thought was terrifying.
‘Let’s go inside, I’ll make lunch,’ he sounds indifferent as ever, but she can detect hints of worry in his voice. She presses his hand.
‘Okay.’
*****
Levi eventually gives her the spare keys so she can come to his studio and practice whenever she feels like. It’s helpful, because now she has pretty much mastered most of the things he taught her over the months and she sometimes feels the sudden urge to paint something that pops in her head, and rushes to his shed right that instant if she can. She’s still not perfect, and there are many things she struggles with, but she likes her progress.
‘Leviii,’ Hange drawls, slumped over the chair by the window, pouting at her canvas.
‘I can’t draw the sea foam.’
He sighs from the other end of the room where he’s arranging his new supplies, ‘Have you learnt nothing all these months?’
‘But it’s difficult. I can try but there’s only a sixty percent chance that I’ll get it right and I don’t wanna ruin this canvas.’
Previously she made two paintings on a canvas, only because she was confident that she’d get them right, and she’d practiced on a rough paper beforehand. One was a sunset, and the other was a sea port. Both of them are now hanging on the walls. The one she’s currently working on is of a raging sea and so far everything’s going good except for that damned sea foam.
Levi approaches her, observing her work critically. She extends the paintbrush towards him and grins, ‘You’ll do it for me, right?’
‘No.’
‘But it’s just one tiny detail, nothing will happen if you help me out shorty!’
‘I’ll help out all right, but I won’t do it for you,’ he grumbles.
And before she can protest, he moves at the back of her chair and clutches her hand from behind, leading it to the blue and gray strokes she has made. He positions her fingers in the right way, ‘You do it like this,’ he says softly. His breath tickles her neck and she suppresses a shiver. He’s close. Very close.
He moves the brush lightly over the canvas and she sees the sea foam manifest before her eyes effortlessly. He guides her hand over the rest of the painting in the same way. His grip is warm and steady, whereas her own hands are trembling slightly. Hange is not averse to physical contact, especially with her friends. But Levi has never before initiated it first, and she tells herself that it’s the sole reason she feels shaken right now.
‘You get it?’ his low voice spills over her ear.
‘Y—yes,’ she manages, feeling breathless for reasons beyond her.
‘Good,’ he pulls away slowly and she exhales. ‘Don’t mess it up again.’
She’s sure she wouldn’t. Not when the phantom touch of his fingers is still burning on her hand.
Hange wakes up to the morning light with a start, gasping for air. Her heart is racing in her chest and cold sweat slicks her face. She looks around and realizes that she’s at home, at her desk where she fell asleep last night. Files and documents are jumbled around her, and her muscles are sore from sleeping in an awkward position. She checks her phone; it’s eight in the morning and Sunday.
She runs a hand over her eyes. There’s an odd restlessness in her heart, and she knows it’s got something to do with her dream. Its memory is hauntingly fresh in her mind, so much so that she can even feel all those sensations. Suddenly the room is too hot and stifling. She gets up, grabs her jacket and the spare keys Levi entrusted to her and rushes out.
His shed is empty at this hour, and she knows he won’t be surprised to see her when he’ll come in as he’s already used to finding her cooped up in there at odd hours.
She grabs a palette, paints, brushes and fixes a suitable canvas on an easel. Then she perches on that chair beside the window and starts to work. Colors merge and dance over the blank surface, filling it with life. She works with focus this time, and yet her hands shake, but not due to nervousness. Maybe it’s anticipation, because surprisingly Hange doesn’t know herself what this will lead to. Her muscles seem to be obeying that hazy, murky part of her brain that’s ruled by the incoherent; the part that perhaps knows and remembers the dream she had today, much more vividly than her.
Red, blue, yellow, gray. There’s a story in every stroke. She’s waiting. Waiting for it all to come together and assemble, and finally give her the answer she craves. Outside, the sun climbs higher and the day gets steadily brighter. Light streams in, shining curiously upon her as she works, unaware of the world.
When she finally concludes her painting with a last shade of swirling orange, she freezes. Everything is silent around her, sunbeams dip into the room, her heartbeats are loud in her ears.
In her painting is a port, and giant skeletal creatures wrapped in raw muscles are marching over everything. She’s high up in the sky, zipping towards them in rage. Burning. Below, in the shadow of it all, small figures of people are rushing around a plane.
Hange drops her brush and stares at the scene before her. She’s not sure why she made this, or what compelled her mind to come up with an image like that. She wants to brush it off as a spur-of-the-moment inspiration, but the fact remains that she wasn’t even aware of what she was drawing half the time. The image made itself. And then there’s this suffocating ache in her chest that she can’t define, it’s squeezing her in an iron grip. She leans back and throws an arm over her face, breathing deeply.
The fire licks at her body and screams rip her throat. Pain beyond measure stabs her all over but she has to move forward, she has to finish them off, has to buy them time, no matter how much it hurts, no matter how much she wants to live. She must sacrifice herself.
The door opens.
‘What’re you doing this time?’ Levi’s voice pulls her out of the drifting currents of her mind.
She looks up at him with tired eyes. How long had she been sitting there, working nonstop?
‘What’ve you made?’ he comes over to her, leaning over to look at her work. Hange watches him closely.
She hears his breath hitch, sees his eyes widen and expression morph into something unguarded and open. He gazes at the scene for a long moment without saying anything. Then he raises his hand and touches the painting, the part where she is drawn in an odd suit, wielding swords and engulfed in flames. The painting’s still wet and the reddish orange color of the fire stains his fingers.
‘You . . .’ he looks back at her, and this time Hange can see something more in his expression: pain. ‘Why did you make this?’
‘I don’t know,’ she whispered. ‘It felt like my hands had a mind of their own. I couldn’t stop.’
He straightens and lets out a heavy breath. His eyes are weighed. He grabs her hand and leads her to a door at the corner of the shed that Levi never let her open before. They enter a small room which is full of paintings of different sizes—Levi’s art, she realizes. At one side, some of them are covered with a large white sheet. He yanks it away to reveal more pieces, only these are different from the others.
As soon as Hange looks at them, the same restlessness she felt today crashes back into her heart. There’s something achingly familiar about those pictures. They show green fields, stables and dark, stone castles. They show people sitting around fires, but their faces are hazy, as if the moments were captured from wispy dreams. She does recognize some people though: a blur of color that resembles Levi, a similar one that could be her. She even spots Erwin’s indistinct form among many others. Then there are paintings with giant distorted creatures and people zipping through the sky.
She turns to Levi, ‘What is this?’ her voice begs for answers.
‘I don’t know,’ he mirrors her words from earlier.
It’s something for sure, they both feel it and she knows it’s important in some way.
Levi seizes her arm suddenly; his brows are furrowed and his fingers are digging into her skin.
‘You’re . . . here? Right?’ and the helpless look he gives her just confirms that he’s feeling exactly as she did that day when she splattered paint over him. He needs to know that she’s okay, and he’s not going to lose her. He needs her to destroy the images in his head that are probably playing a twisted scene of her death.
Hange laces her fingers with his and presses reassuringly, ‘I’m right here shorty. And I’m not going anywhere,’ she promises.
He nods, but maintains the death grip on her hand. They both walk out of his shed and Hange pushes all those tangled thoughts to the back of her mind. She’ll think about it later, talk to Levi and make something of this. But for now she has to assure him that she’s with him and they’re fine. They’re okay and they’re together and they’re alive.
And there’s nothing more she can ask for.

Belated birthday
Characters: Levi Ackerman / Hange Zoe
Wordcount: 1160 approx.
Modern AU / SFW / established relationship / non-binary Hange / swearwords
Tumblr media
Walking back home through the park was not so bad after all, Levi thought to himself. He had been reluctant to Hange's suggestion at first, arguing that the pie would never be baked by tea time.
They had already wasted enough time wandering among the stalls at the farmers' market to purchase some veggies after lunch, he had argued. But of course they could never take 'no' for an answer, could they?
So they had insisted, all puppy eyes and irritating whines, tugging his coat sleeve, begging him between kisses on his cheeks or neck, squeezing his arm between theirs.
And obviously they had pestered the shit out of him until he gave in, frowning in annoyance and rubbing his temples as he felt the headache coming.
When he thought about it, Hange’s beaming smile had been worth the relinquishment, lighting up their face and making his heart melt in the process. And strolling through the park together arm in arm only added to the warmth that started to spread in his chest, reviving the memory of their first date one fall years ago.
Rays of pale sunlight played through the russet foliage, piercing the light mist. A swift gust raised a whirlwind of fallen leaves every once in a while, scattering them across the path. Levi took a deep breath, taking in the relaxing quietness of early Saturday afternoon, relishing in the sweet undergrowth smell of the earth.
The crisp autumn air stung his ears and the tip of his nose but Levi couldn't care less, not when he felt the gentle touch of Hange's warm body pressed against his side as they walked. Not when their eyes sparkled with sheer joy as they babbled about how beautiful the elms and maples were this time of the year. Not when they squeezed his arm as they pointed out a squirrel hopping from branch to branch.
“...and the way their eyes are positioned allows them to see behind them, can you believe it, Shorty?” Hange exclaimed, snapping him off his reverie. “Nature is so fascinating, I’ll never get tired of learning more about it every day of my life!” they enthused.
Every day of my life. The words echoed in Levi’s head and swirled around for a while, leaving a sweet sensation in their wake. He turned to Hange, smiling softly as his gaze wandered over their handsome face. He slowed his steps, gently holding them back and pulled them into him.
They giggled and slid an arm around his neck when he leaned in to kiss them on the lips, a brief and chaste kiss, something featherlight and heartfelt, his eyes fluttering shut for a few seconds. He was caught in the moment, oblivious to the affection he displayed in public, but it felt so right his heart swelled with fondness in his chest.
Snapping out of his trance, he slipped his hand in Hange's, intertwining their fingers, and resumed walking.
“Come on, Four-Eyes, let’s get home before we freeze our asses off!” He blurted out.
Tumblr media
Levi was glad they could finally mark Hange’s birthday. Nothing too fancy though, just their friends coming over for tea and apple pie, an opportunity to catch up on each other’s lives, a chance to share a good moment of friendship and show how much they all loved Hange.
Their last project at work had kept them busier than usual, delaying the celebration for weeks. This week-end was the first one in months for them to enjoy free time so, before getting to cook, Levi had insisted Hange settled comfortably on the couch with a soft blanket and the book they bought before coming back home.
Lulled by Hange’s blabbering, Levi had prepared and baked the pie in no time, letting his mind wander to his bedside table. Levi smiled. There, in the drawer, Hange’s birthday gift was nestled between neatly ironed handkerchiefs and a box of mints.
He had bought it on an impulse months ago, his gaze drawn to it as he walked past the store window. It reminded him of the golden amber hue of their eyes, those eyes which held the most beautiful shades of fall, those eyes so entrancing and expressive he could never get tired drowning into.
A slight blush of anticipation crept up his face as he thought about how surprised Hange and their closest friends would be. He imagined their fingers feverishly tearing the pumpkin patterned paper. He imagined them gasping as they opened the small box. He imagined them beaming as they lifted their head to look at him. And the butterflies fluttered in his chest.
“Oh my, it smells so good, Levi!” Hange exclaimed in a cheerful tone as he took the pastry out of the oven, a sweet aroma wafting from the kitchen. “Can I have a teeny-tiny slice, please?” they begged.
“Hell no, Four-Eyes!” he replied without turning back, sliding the cake onto a plate. “It’ll ruin the whole damn pie before anyone can see it!”
“But it’s for my birthday!” they whined.
“I-said-no!” His tone cut short any retort. “Besides, it’s still too hot, tis gonna burn your tongue and shit!”
“You’re not funny, Shorty,” they pouted.
He rolled his eyes. “Sure, Four-Eyes. If you say so.”

Shining spoons and a china sugar bowl elegantly set out on the tray next to the floral patterned tea set, the birthday candles placed on the apple-pie, autumn flowers nicely arranged in a vase… Levi let out a sigh of satisfaction. Everything was ready.
He headed to the bedroom for a quick check in the mirror and opened his drawer to take the wrapped box with a trembling hand. He felt weird. Shy and nervous, giddy and thrilled, wobbly and excited, all of these at the same time.
In a few steps, Levi reached the window, opened it to let the bracing autumn air in. He let his eyes wander over the golden foliage of the trees along the street below and took a deep, invigorating breath.
He had been waiting for this moment for months and now was not the time to flinch. Slipping the gift into his pocket, he pulled himself together and walked back to the kitchen to brew a cup of espresso for Hange.
Levi stopped in his tracks as soon as he glanced into the sitting-room. The autumn sun bathed the room in golden light, softly warming its atmosphere and highlighting Hange's handsome features.
They looked comfortable and relaxed, cozily huddled on the couch, their book now neglected in favor of Sawney. The couple’s ginger cat purred and squirmed shamelessly under Hange’s petting. Their voice was gentle and loving as they cooed to the fur ball, a soft smile spreading over their pretty face.
He took in the endearing sight for a while, relishing in this sweet, heartwarming sensation. In this very moment, looking at his beloved Hange, he finally felt like home.

hi Kane! discovering your blog and works with delight and so glad you're taking requests! i love both eruri and levihan, but i had to choose so: hurt/comfort (angst, fluff and smut also very appreciated) where Hange stops what they're doing to hug/kiss a peevish Levi.
thank you ♡
hiiiii victoria thank you!!!! :D i hope you like this though it’s a tad short, it has a lot of feelings :’)
//Levi/Hange, emotional hurt/comfort, fluff and kisses, canonverse (post-basement)

Hange looks up with a start when the floorboard their right creaks. It’d been so quiet in their office, being the dead of night.
Of course, Levi stands there leaning against the doorway, arms crossed. He has an irritated frown on his face, but his bangs are combed back; he’s been running his hands through his hair.
Levi looks them up and down where they sit, retorting without speaking. Pajamas are for sleep, not work.
“Sorry,” they sigh, and go to push their glasses up only to find they’re not wearing them.
They covertly tuck a messy strand of hair behind their ear. Their messy bun doesn’t hold up much.
“I wanted to check on the itinerary one last time. We’ll be living in the outside world for a few months.”
His lips press into a firm line. “You and I did the same thing every day for the past week. Is my word not good enough?”
They put on a severe face of their own, and look at him more closely. If they had to guess, he’s rattled by something. The lines around his eyes are exhausted; he hasn’t slept more than an hour per night in the last week, and each bit of free time has gone into exercising, even using the ODM gear which they won’t be needing on this expedition.
Not even Levi is immune to feeling nervous. And as Commander he’s relying on them not to be.
With a long but silent sigh, they push the itinerary away—long enough to pass as a short textbook—stand up, and switch off the lamp before walking over to him. A small sliver of moonlight illuminates their office, more or less. But as a result, Levi has the pallor of a corpse.
He still looks up at them a tad annoyed. Their hand hovers over his soft cheek, which he blinks slowly as he leans into the touch.
“You’re right, I’m sorry,” they state, and lean down, kissing him gently.
He grunts, and tilts his head, briefly deepening the kiss. They pull away at the same time.
“Now I can tell you that you’re as short as you are reliable.”
He scoffs, and looks away. At last, a bit of color rises to his cheeks. It looks like there’s a dozen things he wants to say, but just one of them can be put into words.
“Don’t vanish like that in the middle of the night.”
They put their hands on his waist. “Did you have a nightmare?”
He leans into them, simply turning the gesture into an embrace. He speaks quietly. “I… don’t want to talk about it.”
They close him in their arms. His face dips to their shoulder as they slowly, and soothingly stroke his hair. “I won’t vanish. Let’s go back to bed.”
He nods.

Hypothesis Number Two
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Erwin assigns Hange with a mission: finding a way to bond with Levi. Hange's methods are… unorthodox.
Pairing: Levi Ackerman/Hange Zoë
Rating: SFW. Just fluff.
Warnings: Poop jokes?
Aditional Tags: She/Her pronouns for Hange Zoë

“You want me to do WHAT?” Hange’s voice came out squeakier than she anticipated. Then again, the tone was justified, given the absolute ‘nutty as a fruitcake’ nature of the Commander’s request.
“I said I want you to bond with him,” Erwin’s words were deliberately slow this time. He was standing by her desk in the science laboratory, the light from the candle dancing across his stern face.
“I heard what you said” Hange replied, her eyes wide open, outstretched hands waving aimlessly at the air in front of her “I just… why? How? How do I even-”
“He’s been here a while but hasn’t made friends with anyone so far.” the commander caught a glimpse of Hange’s eye roll and sighed in response. “I usually stay out of your businesses, but given the nature of what we do, this intervention is necessary. Levi’s raw talent won’t be of much help if he is not able to trust his squad. Or vice-versa. So I need someone to… break the ice. To make him feel more comfortable with the Survey Corps. Someone to bond with him, so others follow suit”
Hange listened carefully to Erwin’s words. Their leader, as usual, had his eyes on an important goal that the others hadn’t seen yet.
“I understand that, Erwin. But why ask me?” Hange pointed towards herself as if she were a rotten apple at the market stall. “It’s not like I’m someone he is particularly fond of. Hell, he seems to hate me even more than he hates Mike, and I heard that Mike shoved his head into a pool of sewage once!”
“He did no such thing.”
“Really?”
“Yes. It was a puddle of muddy water. Anyway, I’m asking you because everyone else is scared of him”
“But-”
“Just think of it as an experiment. What works? What doesn't work? You’ll find out. And if that doesn’t motivate you, just remember that I’m commander and this is an order.” As soon as the last word left the leader’s lips, he turned on his heel and left the room.
Hange stood there for a good ten minutes, awestruck, pondering over what the hell had just happened. She couldn't deny her curiosity about the new captain. He came from a completely different background but his abilities were unmatched, even by the most experienced soldiers. His nonchalance also had some sort of appeal to her, like a mystery waiting to be solved, and it didn’t hurt that he was so easy on the eyes (although she kept that last part to herself). Still, Erwin’s choice was weird. Hange thought that someone more charismatic and generally likable, such as Petra, would be the most obvious person for the job. Was the commander, again, seeing something ahead that was not yet clear to her? Maybe. Probably. But even if that was not the case, Hange wasn’t one to back down from a challenge.
She took a bite of that nutty fruitcake and it tasted exciting and sweet. Fair enough. She set by the lab desk and started scribbling on a piece of paper. Let’s get this experiment going!
***
The perfect opportunity to set her plan in motion came up a few days later when they gathered in the mess hall after a particularly tiring training session with the new Special Operations Squad.
Hange’s plan was… peculiar. She knew that to bond with Levi, she needed to find some common ground with him, but the captain was so damn closed! The only interest she knew he had was neatness. She was halfway through creating a plan to make their cleaning duty schedules coincide when it hit her: he apparently also liked poop talk. Seriously, for someone so obsessed with hygiene, that shorty sure talked a lot about excrement.
Hange ripped the previous plan and started to write down her new ideas. Erwin said she could think of this as an experiment, right? Then It was only right to approach the matter with the scientific method:
Observation: Levi is an introspective shorty who grunts at everyone, cleans obsessively, and talks a lot about feces. Hypothesis: A poop joke will create a moment of positive connection with Levi. Experiment: Tell Levi a good poop joke and observe his reaction.
Then, all she had to do was analyze the results and convey her conclusions to Erwin. It was definitely a bet, but one that might just pay off.
So Hange buried herself in research for two days, until she found the perfect joke and the right way to tell it. There was nothing else to do other than wait for the best opportunity to conduct her experiment, and when the soldiers sat at the mess hall to tell stories and relieve the tension from the training, Hange knew that it had arrived.
They sat facing each other through the small corridor, their backs leaning against the table tops behind them. Moblit, Hange, Erwin, Mike, and Nanaba on one bench, Gunther, Eld, Levi, Petra, and Oluo on the other, all drinking from their jugs, except for the new captain, whose chosen poison was tea.
“... and that’s when I found Oluo lying in a pile of trash behind the bar.” The older soldier scowled as Petra concluded her story. “Come on, Oluo. Don’t be so tedious. You did look pretty funny with that banana peel on your toupé”. Most of the Corps laughed audibly, and even Mike and Nanaba let out a giggle at the ridiculous image.
“What about you, captain? Do you have any funny stories for us?” Petra asked, still laughing a bit while wiping the tears that had accumulated in her eyes. She seemed to be making an effort to put Levi at ease with his new squad. Hange made a note to herself to ask Erwin about that later.
“No,” Levi answered dryly. Then, when he noticed the negative change in the young woman’s facial expression, he elaborated “Not many fun stories where I come from.”
“I have one” Hange raised her arm eagerly, breaking the uncomfortable silence, and, for once, her comrades seemed grateful that she decided to say something. “It’s a poop joke”.
“Ugh,” Oluo said. From the corner of her eye, she saw Erwin giving her an inquisitive look. On her other side, Moblit had… was that fear on his face? Oh, Come on!
“So, a bear and a rabbit are taking a dump in the woods…” Hange started, suppressing the grin that was forcing its way into her lips. She wasn’t the best at telling jokes (always got too excited before the punchline) but she was trying her best this time. She couldn’t let external conditions interfere with the results of the experiment. Her comedic timing needed to be perfect.
Oluo let out another groan. Was he really disgusted by the mention of feces or was he trying to emulate Levi? He seemed to be doing this a lot these days. Petra elbowed him and smiled at Hange. The rest of the Survey Corps all looked at the squad leader expectantly, some more amused than others, except for Levi, who had his eyes fixed on the teacup he was slowly bringing towards his lips.
“A bear and a rabbit are taking a dump in the woods” Hange started over. “After the bear is done with his business, he turns to the rabbit and says “Hey, Rabbit. Do you have a problem with shit sticking to your fur?" “‘Well, no. I’m quite used to it” Hange put in extra effort in making believable voices for the characters, which drew some laughter across the tables. Levi remained indifferent, taking a long sip of his tea. Hange continued.“‘Good’, the bear says. Then he grabs the rabbit and wipes his ass with him.”
For one instant, the room went silent, except for the sound of liquid spurring out of Levi's partially closed lips. Hange’s vision got blurry as particles of tea covered her lenses. The wetness of her face was uncomfortable, but she was focused on more pressing matters. Who was sitting directly in front of Levi, again? Crap! The scientist raised the glasses to her forehead and slowly looked to her right side. Like a wax figure, Erwin sat with furrowed brows and clenched lips, completely soaked in the brown liquid. One could believe he was a literal statue, had it not been for the painfully slow rhythm of his breathing, moving his chest up and down. Crap, crap, crap, crap!! As she thought this, a thick drop of tea traced a path down his left eyebrow. Yep. She was in deeper shit than that rabbit.
Hange’s mind started working at a frantic pace, a whirlwind of synapses preparing the deepest, most heartfelt apology ever, but, then, she noticed something everyone else had caught on before her: Levi. Even Erwin seemed unbothered by the tea bath he had just taken, as he looked at the new captain without blinking.
Levi was staring blindly at the floor beneath him, his hand frozen, holding the teacup directly in front of his face. His nostrils were dilated and the eyebrows were completely furrowed, but also… twitching? The captain’s lips moved as if he were trying to say something, but no words were coming out of his body.
“Is he ill?” Someone asked. The voice brought Hange back to the present.
“Captain, are you okay?” Petra asked, concerned, then turned to look at the scientist “Hange, I think you broke Levi.”
“What is happening?” Erwin’s question was not rhetorical.
Hange analyzed the captain for a moment, the ambiguity on his expression,  all the twitching and trembling.
“I think he is… deciding?”
As if it recognized the cue, Levi’s expression melted into an audible giggle. A giggle! It was hoarse and higher pitched than Hange anticipated, but most of all, it was adorable. The sound disappeared as fast as it had come, leaving everyone agape.
“Tch. That was disgusting, Four Eyes.” Levi said, with a small grin on his lips. “Do you know another one?”
‎***
A few hours later,  Erwin stopped by Hange’s side as they refilled their jugs.
“Interesting technique,” the commander said, without looking at her.
“I guess you picked the right person for the job” Hange smirked, then suddenly remembered her question about Petra. “By the way, did you assign this mission to anyone else?”
“No, just to you. How did you know that that would work?”
“Science” Hange winked. Erwin let out an amused puff of air through his nose, then narrowed his eyes. “Was this also part of your plan?” the commander signaled at the brown stain on his shirt.
“Of course not. But I wish it was. That was genius!” The scientist laughed loudly, and the commander himself giggled.
“Fair enough” Erwin responded, a light smirk still on his lips. “On a completely unrelated note, I’m assigning your squad to the toilet cleaning task for the rest of the month”
“Oh, come on! I was just following your orders” Hange pleaded, but the commander remained silent. “Okay, fine. It was worth it, though.” The scientist said as she walked back to her table.
As Hange approached her comrades, Levi moved to make room for her on his bench. Erwin observed the quirky squad leader sit by the new captain’s side and smile at him as she said something. The commander’s lips curled to a slight grin. It wouldn’t be long before those two fools began to see what was already clear as day to him.
