I love finding situations when Gamefreak accidentally made Pokémon queer. There are 3 situations that immediately pop into my head:
• The anime episode “Bye Bye Butterfree”. I know it was made before gender differences, but I still stan the trans pink Butterfree, which managed to transition in the more recent episodes <3 (they gave in the gender change).
• Azurill has only a 25% chance to be male while Marill has 50%, meaning that there used to be a glitch before Gen 6 where a female Azurill could evolve and become a male Marill. Basically, trans Marill who we stan.
• The love ball was originally supposed to be more effective on catching Pokémon of the opposite gender of your Pokémon. However, when it was first brought into the games, there was a problem in the programming - so the love ball not only just worked on Pokémon of the same species, but also those of the same gender as your Pokémon. Sounds pretty gay if you ask me (:
so, today we, russian queers, may become "extremists" by decision of russian supreme court and thus our existence will be silenced and erased. any queer activism will be impossible for us. I don't know what to do anymore. I was heartbroken when they passed the laws about "gay propaganda" and transgender people, now I'm just numb. I don't want to escape. I just want to live safely in my own country.
god i am always the FIRST to rally against the failures of just fighting for tolerance from straight cis ppl, but also we haven't even fucking reached tolerance yet.
we still need "We're Queer We're Here Get Used To It", because i don't know about you guys, but from what I'm seeing, they aren't fucking used to it.
we need that old school "we're your hairdressers, your teachers, your neighbors, your siblings, your friends" energy back ASAP. quietly queer isn't cutting it for me anymore. in your face dykes fag queer trans forever until i'm fucking dead.
reminder this pride month that disabled people in the US on SSI and some forms of SSDI* do not have the same marriage equality as people not on SSI and SSDI. its called the marriage penalty.
by getting married, a disabled person can lose their income, benefits, and health insurance.
if a disabled person marries an able bodied person, and combined their assets are $3000 or over they will lose all benefits, including medicaid (health insurance).
if a disabled person marries a disabled person, their assistance is lowered 25%.
we don’t have marriage equality until all disabled marriages are equal.
*SSDI title II (disabled adult child) does fall under the marriage penalty, regular SSDI does not.
"School districts that don’t respect transgender and nonbinary students’ pronouns or force them to use restrooms that don’t align with their gender identity could be committing federal civil rights violations beginning this fall.
Today, the U.S. Department of Education announced the issuance of a final rule under Title IX to protect people in public schools from sex-based discrimination and harassment. The announcement marks a significant update in federal efforts to combat sex discrimination in federally funded educational institutions. During a call with reporters, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona emphasized the administration’s dedication to ensuring that Title IX effectively serves all students by providing safe, welcoming, and rights-respecting educational environments."
I cannot stress this enough: queer people don’t care if kids aren’t queer. What we do care about is queer children becoming queer adults and not dying before they get there. It really is that simple. Any additional context you’ve added to justify your bigotry is your own fiction.
hi im a transsexual living in NH. there have been many anti-trans & anti-LGBT bills suggested & passed already in 2024. another round of voting will be taking place TOMORROW (FRIDAY APRIL 5TH) for FIVE different bills. if you or anyone you know would be willing to write or call to NH state senators, i would so greatly appreciate that
new hampshire already has a bad reputation for being the "least trans friendly" part of new england. don't let that mindset reach others—this is where i live. this is where i grew up. this is where i am transitioning. i have trans loved ones here. our state motto is "live free or die." that includes living free as a trans person
click this link to go to the ACLU of NH to fill out an email to NH senators against the anti-trans bills that will be discussed tomorrow
