the duality of trying to explain that some relationships in fictional media can and should be interpreted as platonic because friends/family CAN IN FACT be very close and affectionate without it having some romantic context behind it and that we shouldn’t take away from ace and aro representation by using ‘oh but aces/aros can still be in relationships!’ As a simple excuse to ship them

AND

trying to explain that some characters have heavily queer-coded/romance-coded relationships that may have not become canon, but are quite obviously there if you pay attention and that some explicit relationship definition (especially for queer relationships) might be replaced by using best friend/family terminology because of censorship.

There's no issue in cishet people not fully understanding every kind of gender identity and sexual/romantic orientation. You don't have to understand every identity and orientation within the LGBTQIA+ community. But showing genuine confusion and interest in my own orientation and then saying "forget it, idc" the moment I start explaining who I am, it kinda fucking hurts, man.

Even after five years of being out as trans, and another six years of debating if I was, I still often worry that I’m faking it or that I’m not trans enough.

On nights like these though, when I pass my mirror in my dim room, without my glasses on, in my brother’s old black tshirt, and I see a glimpse of how I truly look as myself, with all the factors creating an illusion of a flat chest and straighter silhouette, and the slight warp in the mirror making me ever so taller, I am reminded.

In case it’s not clear, this is a positive post about a moment of trans joy
