I am trying to boost my drawing motivation lately, so, I will try to participate in funguary this time
Day 2
My take on pixie cup lichen
I decided to name that weird cute girl Pixie. I love her so much already
A few words about her character:
A little bit of an overthinker (looking for connections where there are none)
Waterbender! You have to be a special little mushroom in order to be a waterbender! (+a reference to how real life lichens love water)
Has great empathy and generally it's very pleasant to be around her
Likes to keep her room very little illuminated, doesn't like to be in the sun in general
What do y'all think?

FOTD #117 : bowl lichen! (psoroma genus)
the bowl lichens are lichenised fungi belonging to the family pannariaceae. they occur across the world & are often found in south temperate regions :-) these lichen typically grow in association with mosses on a variety of substrates !! there is little else currently known about them.
the big question : can i bite it??
i could not find any information on this, but this lichen is not listed as poisonous anywhere on the internet currently.

FINALLY back home!! here's a lil summary of how we did:
day 1 - 8/19 - second place in her class (12-18mo bitches). went up for RWB but no love unfortunately!
day 2 - 8/20 - fourth in her class
day 3 - 8/21 - fourth in her class again
she showed amazingly on her first day but on the second day, when she was on the ramp, another handler backed into the ramp and almost elbowed her in the face and that kinda ruined her vibe. so she didn't stand very well for her exam on day 2 or day 3. but like!! we drove 17ish hours and were staying in a (very scary) hotel and i was stressed constantly so i definitely wasn't expecting her to be at her best, and that's okay! i'm happy that we got out there and helped represent the breed :)

I think if Izzy had gotten a chance to just sit down on a log and look at some trees and moss everything would have been different

Some results of my earlier adventures with natural dyes. These are dyed with blue elderberry; I had read how red and black elderberry are not very light- or colorfast, but I dyed these two or three months ago and they are doing well! Could be chance, but maybe blue elderberry is more colorfast?
I want to try changing the PH in the future for more colors. These are alum mordanted wool embroidery thread, one is undyed the other is white. In the first photo, the fibers that were originally white are on the top, undyed on the bottom, and the one weirdo off to the side was white and went in late when I decided there was more room in the jar.
No heat added to the dye bath to keep the colors brighter. I prepared it by crushing the berries, adding just enough water to cover the plant matter, leaving them overnight, crushing again and straining out the plant matter, then left the mordanted fibers in for three days; very simple. Washed thoroughly, dried in the window lol.
The white fibers became a sort of soft raspberry color, the undyed became a sort of rose gold. The weirdo is a sort of Pepto Bismal color? To be poetic

What if the Ascomycete elder god was just a lil’ lichen guy. A littol boy. What if I misidentified the lichen I collected and based his hat on so how’s it’s just a vague *parmelia*. Which is ok. It’s fine. I misidentified it bc the inside was the color of a cheeto.
Anyway his horns are *Cladonia sp.* and the ones around his face are *Niebla sp.*
