With each dawn, a humble friend flutters by my window - a tiny, feathered confidante. This unexpected visitor arrived on my first day in the bustling city, setting a rhythm to my mornings that has become my sole comforting consistency.
We share no words, but in its soft chirps and watchful eyes, I find unexpected companionship. Day after day, it seems to check on me - like a guardian painted with the hues of the morning sky.
And now, the tables have turned. I find myself awaiting its arrival at first light. In its steadfast presence, I find the strength to face another day.
Is this a simple happenstance or a serendipitous encounter? I can't say. But this much is clear - it has become my anchor in this city of towering buildings and ceaseless activity, a beacon of hope amidst solitude.
Remarkable, isn't it? How a tiny creature, so blissfully unaware of the solace it provides, has become my lifeline in this daunting city.
Our quiet, unspoken bond serves as a daily testament to the power of connection, companionship, and the extraordinary impact of ordinary moments.
Here's to the little bird by my window, my steadfast friend in a sea of unfamiliar faces, the unwitting hero in my urban tale.
In case you are wondering what this whole thing is, it's basically a journal. A little something for you to read about my life here far from you. There might be some things I will miss to tell you in real time but at least with this, you can go back in time to find out.
Some of it are just things I am not ready for you to know yet.
Questions I don't have the courage to ask yet.
And my thoughts behind some of the conversations we have.
By the time you are reading this, I have already proposed to you and hopefully you said yes. Treat this as a mini engagement gift. I know how much you value memories. So, I hope you like it.
It has been a week since I left the Philippines. I miss you so much already. I'm doing fine here in Dubai as you know since I can still talk to you everyday.
Life is still slow right now. I spent this week catching up on sleep and restarting my body clock. The weather here is still somewhat cooler than I expected. Well, at home it really is cooler with the AC on most of the time. But outside temperature is still within my comfort.
I'm starting to live healthy. Good influence si Papa with his healthy lifestyle. I do light workouts in the morning, and go jogging right at twilight. I'm still trying to figure out my diet. Cutting out rice is a start. Cereals and fruits in the morning. Salads and sandwiches for my meals throughout the day. I think my body is adjusting fine as of now. Pero, medyo anxious ako. I feel like any day now or next week, I might feel the withdrawal symptoms from my years of smoking cigarettes start to kick in. Although I'm trying to ease in with quitting by vaping, I hope kayanin ko to. Remember what I told you and everyone back home that i'll quit it for good once I get here. I've been preparing to quit it mentally for months na. Kaya ko to.
We went to Abu Dhabi earlier. Visited some relatives. Then we went to meet up with Papa's oldtime friends and co workers.
I'll tell you about it tomorrow. I'm sleepy na eh.
Anyways... Sa ngayon, yun palang naman ang ganap dito. Next week, i'll start to explore.

Tuesday at Northam Park from 3:30 to 6:30PM is the Centennial Celebration of the City of Upper Arlington, which was incorporated as a village on March 20, 1918. Founded by King and Ben Thompson, Upper Arlington was designed as a country club community, with its curvy streets that defied the traditional grid pattern (case in point - the Near East neighborhood of Eastgate and the East Side neighborhood of Berwick also had curvy streets in their designs around that same time). The Upper Arlington Historic District (everything SOUTH of Lane Avenue) was placed on the National Register for Historic Places in 1985.
