My Thoughts on Trollhunters : Rise of the Titans
WARNING : ALL THE SPOILERS IN THIS REVIEW
.
.
.
Mmmmm. Okay. So I just finished the movie. I’m fatigued as always so this’ll be a bit of a mess lol. Gotta spew the thoughts while they’re still fresh, y’all know how it is.
Right out the gate, I definitely want to talk about the things I loved.
The animation was, of course, phenomenal and gorgeous!
Voice acting was incredible as always
MUSIC SLAPPED
Douxie. I just loved seeing Douxie again and honestly kept my eyes trained on him for most the of movie lol
OK DOUXIE AND NARI SWITCHING?? BODIES??? Definitely didn’t see that coming and I legit started screaming lol
Nari in Douxie’s body is the most precious, chaotic, and wholesome thing like holy cow that was so adorable LOOKIT DOUXIE CROUCHING AND CRAWLING AROUND ON ALL FOURS WITH THOSE NOODLE LIMBS OF HIS I CAN’T --
We called Nari’s mind control and Douxie trying to reason with her!
In the very few scenes they were together, Douxie’s love and affection for Nari really came through. You could really feel how much he cared about her. ALSO THAT TENDER HUG AND NARI’S LITTLE HAPPY SQUEAK MY HEART NO--
Loved Barbara. Always love Barbara.
Walter and Barbara getting engaged
Nomura back in action
Claire being the powerful sorceress she’s become
Loved seeing Aja, Krel, and Varvatos all together again.
NARI VS SKRAEL WAS ALL SORTS OF EPIC AND CRUSHING EMOTIONS.
The way Douxie yelled Nari’s name and ran to her after she died and the remnants of her magic falling all around him, like she was saying goodbye, just *UGLY CRYING*
It was so cool to see Charlie out of his den and flying about like the mighty dragon he is
Loved the Guardians of Arcadia pulling Excaliber out together.
All the gang all going after Bellroc together
YES JIM MY BOOOOOOY
BLINKY DIDN’T DIE
Aarrgh I love you so much
Stuart, what a bro!
We saw a hint of mercy in Bellroc towards the end.
Toby’s death... That was a huge curveball. Jim might as well have cut my heart out with Excaliber as he sobbed over his best friend.
Uh.....um....and.....Er...what else........ .___.
..........Alright so.......It’s about to get a bit brutal from here on out as I talk about the things I didn’t like at all. And the really sad thing is, at least to me, the cons far outweigh the pros in this movie. Because I’m actually having difficulty picking out things I enjoyed, they were so few and far between...which really sucks.
So here we go.
Gosh, where to begin... I guess I’ll go ahead and say this : I’m really disappointed.
Like as I’m here typing this, I’m just thinking, “...That was it? That was the movie?? The big finale???”
So much of this movie just felt....unnecessary. I hate to say almost like filler. The entire intro re-caping the series really wasn’t needed. And then Toby went and restated it all again when he was being interrogated. The pacing, oh my gosh...Guys, the pacing in this movie was not good. The action started and it never seemed to stop. There wasn’t a single moment of rest, of levity, of our characters just being themselves, getting to know each other, being friends outside of the battle. No Reckless Club Segment. No fun, just... I mean Claire and Aja didn’t speak to each other at all. Douxie and Toby hardly interacted. Steve was turned into a gross male pregnancy joke. Jim and Krel barely spoke. Douxie and Aja had nothing to say to each other. Even Aja and Krel didn’t have any moments together. The list goes on. The whole movie was just go, go, go. And it’s so frustrating because there was time for it but it was poorly executed.
Like was the whole break-in to the Chinese Trollmarket really necessary?? Guys, I really found myself not caring. I didn’t care to see this random side quest involving an insignificant new troll character and a Trollmarket that had little to no bearing on the plot. Did I love seeing Charlie, Archie, Blinky, and Claire? Of course! But these scenes were so pointless. So needless. They could’ve written other ways for all our heroes to go after the chronosphere (Maybe we could’ve had Zoe for crying out loud). But instead this vital artifact was the hands of a character we don’t know and don’t care about in a place that turned out to have basically nothing to do with anything.
Deaths. The deaths in this movie. Because of the pacing in this movie, there wasn’t nearly enough time for the emotional impacts to sink in. Nomura? Gone and the only ones mourning her are Aaarrgh and Douxie, who barely knew her. Walter’s death was handled better since we got to see Jim and Barbara actually having a moment to mourn him. The weight of Nari’s death was singlehandedly carried by Douxie, but even that was over before it started. The immense gravity of Toby’s death, which really got to me, was also short-lived to make way for an ending that...I don’t know.
ALSO DOUXIE JUST??? BEING OKAY WITH HIS FAMILIAR, THE ONE WHO RAISED HIM AND WENT THROUGH SO MUCH WITH HIM FOR CENTURIES, LEAVING HIM FOREVER TO BE TRAPPED IN THAT DUMB TROLLMARKET WITH CHARLIE LIKE???
“I hope he’s happy.”
WHAT. THE. EVERLASTING. FRICK.
Douxie’s reaction objectively doesn’t make a shred of sense. Geez, it’s almost like Douxie was expecting Archie to up and leave him someday to be with Charlegmane. Just...what???
What also frustrates me so much is how this movie undid so much characterization and development that happened in Wizards. Or more like all that development didn’t even matter.
What was the point of Steve’s arc in Wizards if he was just going to be reduced to...this?
I was so excited to see Douxie really being a Master Wizard. To see him lead the Guardians of Arcadia alongside Jim. To see him in action as Successor to Merlin and Protector of this Realm.
But no.
Douxie, who had such an incredible arc in Wizards and a character who’s come to mean so much to me in my life, was nerfed and sidelined.
And then time restarts and I can’t help but wonder why any of this mattered at all. What the heck was the freaking point of the suffering, the loss, the pain, the growth, enduring and overcoming so much, the friendships and family spanning across three shows... All gone. Starting all over. Undoing everything, except what Jim went through. As much as I love Jim, I didn’t think he’d be the only character I’d be getting closure for at the grand finale of this entire franchise. But that’s what happened and I really hate it.
Just...all in all, this movie wasn’t satisfying. Not to me. It had its good moments. But not nearly enough. The comedy was misplaced and fell flat. The climax was sorely anticlimactic and didn’t hold a candle to Eternal Knight. The writing, the direction, characterization...For some reason it was all lost and confused and none of it felt right and so much didn’t make sense.
I’m not at all upset with the writers, though, because they still pulled through and did what they could. When the movie did something right, it was beautiful. The things I loved about it I truly adored. No, I’m not upset in the least bit with any of the creative team.
I’m upset with Netflix. I’m upset that Wizards was robbed of the seasons it should’ve had. I’m upset with big cooperations stifling creators. I’m upset that this’ll be it. This is the ending we got and nothing can be done about it.
Aaron did say there’s every possibility for the franchise to continue in some capacity, and I’m hoping for that someday. Because so much, too much, has been left unanswered. So much left to be explored that couldn’t. But until then....I guess this is it. This is what we get.
Now, I want to remind everyone that this is my own personal experience with the movie. These are all my opinions. If you enjoyed every second the movie, that’s wonderful! And who knows how my thoughts will change upon another viewing. But in the meantime, Rise of the Titans really missed the mark for me. I wanted found family badassery and fluff. But nope. Just fighting and heaviness and no payoff. It’s such a letdown...a real shame.
But yeah...Thanks to any and everyone who read to the end of this haha
I still love Tales of Arcadia. It’s a series that has blessed and inspired me so much as an artist, writer, and as a person in general. I do want to keep making ToA content for a while. Cause this movie isn’t the end. Not my ending, at least.
I’ll continue to hope for more Tales of Arcadia in the future (a Douxie spin-off series please Lord pleaaase). We shall see. Until then, fics and fanart fixing this mess galore haha
Until next time everyone! God bless!

Prompts 1900-1999
Tumblr media
1900) I’ve had nightmares for weeks & now that you’re here, they’re gone.
1901) No one told me that grief felt so much like fear.
1902) How do I win this war alone?
1903) We're just a bunch of teenagers, we can't handle this.
1904) You, (name) live within me, you are a Shadowhunter, a father to our wonderful children, & my husband. You are my sadness, my joy, my home, my hope, but mostly my love.
1905) You can't understand. You've never been a parent. You never love anything like you love your children.
1906) If you look in her direction again, I will shove a grenade up your ass!
1907) It’s nice to see you smile again.
1908) Get out of that fucking tree before I cut it down.
1909) (name), if you had a chance to redo anything in your life, what would it be?
1910) You need to wake up & live your life.
1911) It was always you. No matter how many times I disagreed, it was always you.
1912) Just close your eyes, I'll still be here when you open them again.
1913) If you don’t know where to go, you can always come here.
1914) Oh, right. I fell through the ice.
1915) We didn’t get a lot of time together in this life, but maybe the next one will go better.
1916) Happy? I haven’t even been okay for a long time. And the worst part? The worst part is that ‘okay’ is far from being happy.
1917) How can a place so beautiful be where such terrible things happened?
1918) I never met him, but I knew him & loved him through stories.
1919) I failed to protect you, it's my fault you're here.
1920) All I want is for them to come home.
1921) It's okay to wander, it's okay to get lost because I will always be here with a light to lead you back.
1922) Shh don't worry, I will always be here to protect you.
1923) The time will come when the pain you feel will no longer exist.
1924) All I remember is I had parents & they loved me more than everything.
1925) I can’t promise your family will see you, but I can promise you will see them.
1926) I will lose hope if anything else happens.
1927) I don’t know why the hell my daughter married you but I’m just glad she did.
1928) I raised you all to survive the end of the world, you will survive the end of me.
1929) Technology can resurrect the dead. It’s my job to recreate loved ones so you can get the closure you never did with them.
1930) Though her smile is gone forever & her hand I cannot touch, I still have so many memories of the one I loved so much. Her memory is now my keepsake which with I’ll never part. God has her in her keeping, I have her in my heart. Sadly missed, but never forgotten.
1931) You promised me you’d always be there. You sat there in that chair & promised me. Large as life, ebullient, robust; they were the words that sealed your promise, you stood by the shore as we laughed & squealed with delight as you picked up rocks & tossed them with ease. Splashing us with expectations of your invincibility. You were invincible. Weren’t you (name)? Or was it just a trick of time that made me believe that you could live forever?
1932) They wanted to protect the innocence of their children, for theirs was taken far too early.
1933) I fell in love with you & in the end, it was the last thing I'd ever do.
1934) Let's draw a line between us. Paint a map back to the start. Leaving footprints to remind us. Where you go, I'll go & if you fall, I'll fall & if the sky grows heavy wrap your arms around me tight. We'll be alright, if the ground gives way beneath us, if we should fall to pieces, find me where I first found you.
1935) Dear Zoe or Kaitlyn or Angela. To My Little Girl, your dad just asked if this was a love letter, but I guess it kind of is. I never got to know my mother. I have no idea what she must have felt when she carried me. So, I thought I'd write to you, so that you could know how happy I am at this very moment. How much your father & I can't wait to meet you. & I want to make you a promise, three things you will have that I never did. A safe home. Someone to tell you that they love you every single day & someone to fight for you, no matter what. In other words, a family. So, there you go, baby girl. The rest we're gonna have to figure out together. I love you, Your Mom.
1936) You know me better than anyone, you know my fears & my dreams & my past yet you still chose to love me completely & you always reminded me of your love. & I know you, your past, your fears, your hopes, your heart.
1937) You make me proud in so many ways.
1938) It’s a great honor to be your mother/father.
1939) Your presence is like a summer breeze & your smile is a ray of sunshine. We love you so deeply & cannot wait to see you again. We miss you so & count the days until we are together again.
1940) You are a guiding light.
1941) I was ready to spend the rest of my life with you. At least I got to spend the rest of mine with you.
1942) Kiss the one that turns back time for you.
1943) I sailed halfway around the world to find you.
1944) I worry that a horrific accident will happen to you & I won't get to have everyday with you.
1945) Tell him thank you for walking that dark path with me back to the light.
1946) I would have waited five hundred more years for you, a thousand years & if this was all the time we were allowed to have then the wait was worth it.
1947) I will find you again in the next world, the next life & we will have that time, I promise.
1948) When he died, all things swift & beautiful & bright would be buried with him.
1949) I could recognize him by touch alone, by smell. I would know him in death, at the end of the world.
1950) But he could do this for her as long as he knew that she was safe, that no one could hurt her. He’d sell his soul again & again for that.
1951) Lastly, he hopes that wherever she may be as she reads the book that he wrote for her, she will read it with a light heart & that she will reach out to him, even if these words find her years from now. She has to know that he hasn’t given up (name) has to know that this man will always love her & that he will be waiting for her for the rest of his life, whether she returns to it or not.
1952) We went into this battle together but what I didn’t expect was that both of us wouldn’t make it out.
1953) I will never, ever regret the things I've done because most days, all you have are places in your memory that you can go to.
1954) All I can say is that you make me into someone I couldn't even imagine. You make me happy, even when you're awful. I would rather be with you even the you that you seem to think is diminished than with anyone else in the world.
1955) I am conscious that knowing me has caused you pain & grief & I hope that one day when you are less angry with me & less upset you will see not just that I could only have done the thing that I did, but also that this will help you live a really good life, a better life, than if you hadn’t met me.
1956) Your purpose is not to die. Your purpose is here with me.
1957) Funerals, I've decided, are not for the dead. They are for the living.
1958) Grief, I’ve learned, is really just love. It’s all the love you want to give but cannot. All of that unspent love gathers in the corners of your eyes, the lump in your throat, & in the hollow part of your chest. Grief is just love with no place to go.
1959) I've been strong for so long that I never thought how much I needed you.
1960) You don't always get to say goodbye & that's heartbreaking because the last time you saw them wasn't supposed to be the last goodbye.
1961) I'll never forget the way you looked at me that made me feel so special. All the words you said to me that melted my heart, the way you put me before everything else. But also, I'll never forget the way you tore me apart, the way you left me like it didn't matter. I'm not sure which is worse, the fact that you destroyed me or the fact that I never thought you would.
1962) How terrible it is to love something that death can touch.
1963) Make peace with your broken pieces.
1964) From the first moment we touched, your arms felt like home.
1965) Hold tight to memories for comfort, lean on your friends & family for strength, & always remember how much you are loved.
1966) Today & always, may loving memories bring you peace, comfort, & strength.
1967) May loving memories ease your loss & bring you comfort.
1968) Tomorrow is another day on this rocky path we walk, never knowing stability. But I believe. I believe that the sun shines after a downpour.
1969) We’ve known each other forever- I can hardly remember not knowing you. It’s hard to remember the days before you. I don’t even know if there were any.
1970) These are the days that must happen to you.
1971) I can tell you’re not yourself lately & I hope wherever you’ve gone, you feel free.
1972) My soul will find yours.
1973) I just want to know if you’re going to stay.
1974) I just want you to know that there will be a piece of you in me. Always.
1975) I feel myself shutting down, closing off, like I should tell people, ‘No, we don’t use this heart anymore. It’s too fragile.
1976) Sometimes I sit & wish I could freeze time right where I am. That way I’ll never lose all of the lovely things that are around me. But time keeps going & things keep getting lost. But I’m still living because something new & beautiful is going to come around eventually & that right there is something to stick around for.
1977) I look over at you & see sunshine.
1978) I am all that I never wanted to be.
1979) Where other men blindly follow the truth, Remember, nothing is true. Where other men are limited by morality or law, remember, everything is permitted. We work in the dark to serve the light. We are assassins.
1980) We must never give up the fight. The minute we do, we have lost.
1981) It’s better to have faith in something than none at all.
1982) The world stopped, you know, when it happened. I felt like everything around me was collapsing. And now? Now, I just want to have the honors of doing it myself.
1983) How in the ever-living fuck do you ‘accidently’ create a cult?!
1984) How the fuck do you ‘accidently’ join a cult?!
1985) It’s odd what you remember about someone when you see them dying.
1986) I wish you had killed me that night then we wouldn’t be stuck here.
1987) Huh? Oh, I’m just casually having an existential crisis, just ignore me.
1988) I don’t think I can do this. I’m scared.
1989) I want to tell you the story of a beautiful baby girl & the parents who would die to protect her.
1990) Everyone I ever cared about - is dead.
1991) I want night time together, sleeping together, waking up together, I want to be with you, just to be with you, I want to spend time with you, to make memories, I want to spend endless amounts of time with you, I want beautiful moments with you, I want you on your good days & on your worst days, I want to comfort you & I want to cheer you up, I want you to be with me in the dark, to hold me, to love me, to help me when I get scared, to come right to the edge to see what's there, I want to make you happy, & not lust for a moment, I want to make you forever happy, I want us to live together, to be happy together, I care about you so much, I'll always be there, we'll sort things out, I want you, I want us, I love you so much, I want you, only you.
1992) I just wanted you to know, nobody has ever made me this happy in a long time. I wanted to wait till you're asleep so you can wake up with that smile that makes my whole day better without even seeing it.
1993) Good morning my love. Know that there is nothing better than waking up with you in mind, even after having spent the night thinking about you. When I think or dream about you the best thoughts just come to my mind. I hope today you've woken up in a good mood, happy, & able to present yourself to the world with your bright eyes & with your most beautiful clothes to bring more beauty to this little planet of ours. You have the gift to bring me hope in any situation, from the time you wake up & let me tell you good morning to the moment when we go to sleep & I wish you good night & sweet dreams. You have the talent to transform anything into something more beautiful than the moment when it was created, as you add warmth & joy to our world. Without you, life would be sadder & the days would be darker. I hope you have woken up feeling quite cheerful & able to transfer all your joy to all who cross your path including me in that list, too. My wish is that we are always happy.
1994) I'm a great person who just went through too much too young.
1995) And even if I may not be the one you choose in the end, you will always have someone that loves you.
1996) For every pain that you feel in this world, there's a reward for it in the next.
1997) I'll love you until I die & if there's a life after this, I'll love you then too.
1998) We are all the pieces of what we remember. We hold in ourselves the hopes & fears of those who love us. As long as there is love & memory, there is no true loss.
1999) Promise me that one day, we will meet again.

Secondly, I was wondering if you could do an AU about Sander being Amber's older brother. In which he's like "too cool for you" until he meets his sister's boyfriend's cute friend aka Robbe...
The subway is crowded, Sander doesn’t understand why Amber can’t get herself a bike and learn how to use it. She tries to stay away from everyone around her, trying to keep her childish tiara in place and he just rolls his eyes, ignoring her grip on his favorite jacket to keep herself standing.
It’s not the best thing, to go to one of Amber’s parties, but Sander needed to get out of the house and nobody else had plans for the night. Their parents would probably never get over his break up with Britt and Sander is tired of hearing it, it’s over, it was over long before they had the balls to actually break up.
So tonight he just needed some fresh air, beer - even if it’s a cheap one - and hopefully a joint. Amber said her friends smoke and Sander is counting on that.
“Just be chill tonight, okay? They’re my friends and I would like to still have them tomorrow morning.”
Sander thinks about asking Amber what the fuck would he do to end her whole pink-princess world, but he doesn’t even bother, getting out of the subway and waiting for her to follow.
It’s a quick walk from the station to Zoe’s flat. Sander keeps repeating the name inside his head to make sure he knows who he’s talking to when the blonde girl probably opens the door for them.
Amber is texting someone on their way upstairs and Sander waits one step behind her when they get to a door on the third floor, the music inside clearly not being stopped by the door or the walls.
“Hey…” He kicks the back of her left foot and Amber huffs annoyed, looking back. “Whatever happens tonight, stays between us. I’m not gonna tell them about you going somewhere with a guy, getting shitfaced with weed and booze and you’re gonna keep your pretty little mouth shut about me too.”
Amber rolls her eyes but nods her head and Sander feels a little more at ease. They don’t get too along, but they do know how to cover each other in these situations. There’s a noise, someone unlocking the door and not a girl opens the door for them, not blonde either.
Sander analyzes him from head to toe. He’s the one. Whoever he is: taller than Amber, but still so small, brown hair framing his face, tanned skin, cheeks tinted pink - probably from all the beers he already had -, an easy and soft smile as he seems surprised not to see only Amber, but also someone behind her. He stutters a little, looking right at Sander and he smiles at the boy.
“Robbe! Hi!” Amber forces herself in and Robbe steps aside to give her space and his little sister is gone just like that, in the blink of an eye. They’re completely alone now. Sander steps forward, right at the door, looking at the empty hall leading to probably a small living room filled with Amber’s friends.
“Hi?” Robbe laughs his question and Sander wonders if he can actually fall in love. He never thought he would ever really fall in love until right this second, with Robbe.
“Hi...Sander.” He offers his hand and Robbe looks at him, frowning but shaking his hand.
“Robbe.”
“I know.”
“Yeah, sorry. Come in…”  Robbe laughs again and Sander wonders if that’s one of his things: to give people the softest laughter as he talks. Or if this is just with Sander. He hopes for the second one. Sander walks inside as he was told to do, he could follow Robbe’s directions anywhere.
“Do we really need to go there?” Robbe frowns even more, but his lips are still stretching up slightly, he has this lines that make his dimples even cuter.
“Huh?” Drunk and clearly confused Robbe asks back and Sander smiles.
“It feels crowded. I’m a little bit claustrophobic. Could we stay somewhere else?” Sander tries his best shot and Robbe doesn’t look bothered by it. He still looks at Sander, deep inside his eyes, but just for one second, looking back at the party, thinking and Sander wonders how drunk he is.
Robbe nods his head very quietly and points with his head to the side. Sander looks at the first door behind Robbe.
“That’s my room...if you wanna wait. I’m just gonna get us something to drink.”
“And maybe smoke?... Pretty please?” Sander pouts and raises his eyebrows and Robbe laughs with his whole small being again and Sander wishes to make him laugh forever.
“Yeah, something to smoke too.”
Robbe walks away and Sander goes to that door, opening it slowly.
Plain white walls, a light wood bed frame with dark blue blankets all scrunched up in the middle, black and white posters everywhere, photography of skaters making tricks. He likes photography…
Sander walks to the table against the big window, touching the clearly worn shirt hanging on the back of his chair. He’s so tempted to hold it, see if it’s still warm, if it smells like anything, but he holds his impulses for once, and Robbe opens the door and gets inside.
-
“So...you’re Amber’s big brother, huh?” Sander rolls his eyes, holding the joint when Robbe offers it back to him, letting the weed fill his brain instantly. It helps, taking the edge off of how Robbe makes him feel. Sweaty hands, overheating, very aware of how fast and strong his heart is beating. They’re sitting right next to each other on the floor, backs against the side of Robbe’s bed. If they look at each other at the same time, they’ll be just inches away.
“Yes, sadly.” Robbe laughs and Sander carefully turns his head to look at him. Robbe smiles and laughs like he means it, his lips shiny from him constantly biting them or wetting them with his tongue, sticking out at top of his bottom teeth when he laughs, his cheeks getting redder and redder the more they smoke and drink. But Robbe isn’t noticing, probably, and Sander gets warmer inside, seeing everything with a hint of sunny yellow when he’s around Robbe like it’s his aura and it spreads all around the ones that are close enough to Robbe.
“She’s a lot, I’ll give you that.” Sander smiles and offers the join back and only then he realizes that Robbe was staring at him while he got lost inside his own fuzzy brain. Robbe isn’t noticing how his intentions are clear, written all over his face right now, staring at Sander’s lips, his own mouth parted, doe eyes with big pupils. Robbe blinks slowly and closes his mouth, swallowing so hard Sander can almost hear it.
“Do you want more?” He asks, offering the tiniest joint still burning in between his long fingers.
“Hm, no. I think I’m good, way too high even.” Sander wets his own lips with his tongue, suddenly aware that’s been hours since they sat here, his ass is starting to hurt, but he doesn’t want to leave Robbe’s bedroom. Ever.
The music that was loud when he got here - almost making the thin walls dance to the beat - is now just a sad, boring whisper at the back of the flat. Sander is almost sure nobody else cares about the playlist so it ended and something else - something bad - started playing instead.
“I’m so fucking hungry…” Robbe whispers with a raspy voice, his throat probably as dry as Sander’s. “Do you want anything?”
He blinks as Robbe moves by his side, putting both hands on the floor to try to get up, but his balance is clearly not working and he almost falls on top of Sander, putting one hand on his shoulder. Their foreheads and noses are almost touching, Sander’s heart is pounding against his chest, his ears buzzing loudly according to his heartbeats. And then Robbe is kissing him, more like a pout against his lips as Robbe pushes himself to stand up and Sander is left there, looking up, with puppy eyes, wanting their lips to stay connected, but Robbe is standing up correctly now, his lips shiny again and Sander hopes it’s because of his own lips this time.
“I’m gonna get us something…”
“Don’t take too long.” Sander sighs his words, relaxing against the bed, keeping his eyes glued to Robbe’s as he smiles and walks backwards to the door.
“I won’t.”

i saw dear evan hansen livee (review)
i meant to post this sooner but school was busy so here i am
this was the national tour in sac
i went w/ my sisters and my friend plus her siblings
i had upper balcony seats, i wish i got to see it closer, but i’m grateful they even came to my city uwu
let’s get to it~
STAGE & INSTRUMENTAL
*the stage was same as the og
* the projection of the social media posts were a good touch for the bg
* the lights were good too, the bg would change color (orange in sincerely me, pink in only us)
* the sound effects sounded real
* the lights were glowing the same as the the beat in good for you
* the way all of them kept walking around looking at “social media posts” on the projection bgs in some songs
* showing evan’s speech on the bg and the videos for the connor project too
* we can see the musicians bc they had a balcony where you can see a few of them
* the sound and instrumental were sounded real (guitar and piano)
* props to the musicians
ACTING:
* sam primack played evan
* he was super good !
* he portrayed evan well, the anxiety and all
* he gave a young fresh vibe of evan
* the panic in his voice, the sobbing and sniffing were so well acted
* evan looking lost in waving through a window
* the “WOOOOOOAAAHHHH” at the end of waving through a window
* them high notes in for forever and words fail tho 👌🏼
* “i’M NOT hYpERVenTILaNG!!” and then “Dear Connor Murphy..”
* when he dropped the note cards in you will be found
* he kept apologizing and picked them up w/ a small voice
* he sat on the ground for a while and starts to have a breakdown
* he tugs his knees and sobs there 😢
* when he walked up and KNEELED DOWN in only us, zoe was sitting on the bed, it was at evan’s verse, he went up to her and kneeled w/ both knees while singing + staring into her eyes singing “so it can be us~ it can be us and oooonly us~ and what came before won’t count anymore or matter we can try that~”
* that was unexpected by me since the only version i saw was the og broadway performance and it didn’t have that which rlly knocked my socks off
* the sloppy kissing tho 😔👌🏼✨
* he’s so LoUD in act 2, like damn he went all out
* his voice was squeaky/cracked from broken sobs at some points
* the way he looked so StResSed & shouting when talking to jared and alana before good for you
* his begging when connor took his letter and when alana posted the “suicide note” so painful but good
* also the way evan always wiped his hands on his pants when zoe would stick her hand out
* how panicky he was when he freaked out that zoe was gonna “break up” w/ him
* their chemistry honestly 😭💙
* he also said a lot “what do you means” throughout the show i noticed
* his lines in good for you w/ heidi, jared, and alana singing in bg were so overwhelming but in a good way
* just an overall fresh, awkward, anxious vibe to him 😔💙
* noah kieserman played connor
* his voice reminded me of the og broadway
* the face connor gave at cynthia when larry and zoe said he was high
* the way he play punches evan in sincerely me
* the choreo in sincerely me is so iconic
* “if i stop smoking POT then everything might be alright”
* he was snapping when he sang that which i thought was new lol
* that dance they did for “our friendship goes beyond..” between connor and evan
* “..your average kind of bond” they had their arms around their shoulders and stared into their eyes before evan said “BUt not Bc we’Re gAY-“
* living for treebros moments y’know
* his high notes in disappear tho
* “when you’re falling in a forest, and there’s nobody around, all you need is for somebody to find you..”
* evan was crouching down and connor crouched next to him when he sang
* “when you’re falling in a forest, aND WhEN YoU hIT THe GrOUNd,,ALL YOU NEED IS FOR SOMEBODY TO FIND YOUUUU~”
* he stands up and reaches his hand before leaving the stage
* one of my fave lines in deh honestly
* “did you fall? or did you let go?” will always hit
* “you can’t even tell yourself the truth” also
* when evan told the truth and the murphys left the living room, they showed connor too and he also left walking away w/ disappointment/pity
* zoe was played by stephanie la rochelle
* she was good and sounded nearly the same as the og broadway/laura
* the way how zoe was nice in the beginning to evan, distant to him at first in her house about connor, then slowly opens up to him and accepts him for who he is is just 🤧
* in for forever, “there’s nothing that we can’t discuss, like girls we wish would notice us but never do” evan looks at zoe and dramatically clears his throat and continues singing
* in if i could tell her, when evan said “he thought you looked rlly pretty ER-you looked pretty COOL when you had indigo streaks in your hair” she says “he did!” and evan says really fast “he dID AHAHAHAHAH”
* it made the theatre laugh and same
* the intro to only us “i need something for me”
* “i want...you”
* 🤧🤧🤧😭😫💙💙💙
* just;;;;;; i cry
* the way zoe would hold evan’s hands and the way evan would hold zoe’s hands—
* how she and evan would copy each other’s tone of voice
* “ᵗʰᵃⁿᵏ ʸᵒᵘ” “ᵈᵒⁿ’ᵗ ᵐᵉⁿᵗᶦᵒⁿ ᶦᵗ”
* “you’re so weeeeeird.” “i knooooww.”
* i love me so bandtrees ok, my crops have been watered and is flourishing
* jared was played by alessandro costantini
* his portrayal was accurate to the og
* “i have skills son”
* his laughs were A++, especially in sincerely me
* his evil maniac laugh in the sincerely me reprise
* he was so smol compared to evan and connor, especially during sincerely me
* vocals were gr8 in sincerely me and you will be found
* the dance w/ connor when he tried to put himself into the story
* he runs so fast to the stage when his parts came, tiny lil quick feet uwu
* he tilts his head a lot when giving evan the ‘duh’ face
* we all live for his sarcasm and jokes
* “do you need a paper bag? you’re having a considerable trouble time breathing—“
* the bitterness/sad look when evan says he doesn’t have any other friends/when zoe comes up and kisses evan
* my kleinsen heart 🤧💔
* alana was played by ciara alyse harris
* she was more lively than the og but sounded exactly similar
* she acted well, her vocals and the way she exaggerated words
* vocals in good for you 👏🏼
* alana singing “on the outside always looking in will i ever be more than i’ve always been cuz i’m tap tap tapping on the glass, i’m waving through a windoww”
* “very close acquaintances”
* all the titles + positions she gives herself in the connor project video
* while evan said he was just co-president
* murphys were played by claire rankin and john menphill
* cynthia had some light raspy voice? it was interesting
* larry sounded the same as the og
* the way they hugged each other so tight in you will be found and the lights were all on them T-T
* high vocals in requiem
* cynthia’s thank yous to evan
* break in a glove had some good vocals too
* when connor’s “suicide note” was posted around and “YOU ARE NOT ALONE” kept singing while the murphys were looking lost and afraid
* opposite to the other soft “you are not alone” while the murphy parent were hugging
* heidi was played by jessica e. sherman
* she was good, close to the og
* her gestures and little dances to evan to cheer him up
* she SNAPPED after going to the murphys house
* “DO YOU KNOW HOW MORTIFYING IT IS TO KNOW THAT YOUR SON WAS SPENDING TIME AT SOMEONE ELSE’s HOUSE AND YOU DIDNT EVEN KNOW?”
* her good for you performance was great
* during the bridge, “i’ll shut my mouth and i’ll let you go..”
* she STRUTTED that walk ok ✨ w/ all the lights on her
* so big/small was calming w/ the guitar
* the way they hugged u~u
* “when it all feels so big!” teasing evan saying he’s growing after they hugged
* he laughs 🥺 w/ a cracked voice from crying
* all the family fighting were so real, the shouting, the raising of voices
im so grateful i got to see it, such an emotional ride 😔💙
i hope people who wants to see it gets to see it, you’ll be blessed
or should i say you will be found

I LOVE all of your pieces of writing, they're so good!! Could you please write a hc for James where he likes a slytherin and he kinda changes his opinion about them and stuff?

This was 99 bullet points so I added this so that it was 100 thank you OCD
He does not like snek
No snek
Besides the house rivalry that’s always been in place
He just hasn’t ever met a nice slytherin
James can’t see the color of your robes while you’re sitting in front of him during class but he gets the faintest whiff of the best smell he’s ever experienced when you brush through your hair
He’s pretty sure he’s seen you with some Hufflepuffs before
Must be one of them
No sir
You turn around to pack up your bag at the end of class
Your robes are green inside
He is so shocked
First off
Goes to Sirius
“They can be good looking?”
“Don’t say that, you’re turning to the dark side!”
Remus glares at the both of them
“You realize that any of us could have been in Slytherin, right? It doesn’t mean that they’re all evil, they just have a bit of a bad track record. So does Hagrid, but we still love him, right?”
This has them thinking for too long
Sirius is biased against them because of his family
James is Sirius’ ride or die
He is also biased because of Sirius’ family
Remus is crying inside because am I friends with them for real
Peter?
Who’s that?
Don’t know him
James tries to forget about you over the weekend
Distracts himself with the Gryffindor students
“There’s got to be one that’s more attractive than them?”
He has no luck
Shows up to class on Monday and you’re not there
He hates that he’s worried
He ends up finding out your name and he doesn’t notice it but he’s mumbling it through lunch
“Did you say something mate?”
James looks at Sirius like he’s insane
“You’re hearing things?”
“It sounded like ‘Y/N’, who’s she?”
Sirius just smirks and stares at James
“That’s that Slytherin in my class. Y/N.”
“Oh. Oh god. It’s happening. I’ve lost you.”
“What?”
“You’ve fallen for a Slytherin.”
James is very confused
He doesn’t think so
Not at all
:’)
He ends up going down to the lake later in the day to reflect
He doesn’t even know who he iS anymore
He sees someone already sitting there skipping stones
It’s you
He doesn’t know whether to run or to go up to you
He chooses his second option
He grabs a stone before sneaking up behind you and skipping it
He thinks he’s gonna scare you
“I could see your reflection in the water.”
“Oh.”
“You’re James, right? You sit behind me in class.”
“Yeah, that’s me. And you’re Y/N?”
You look surprised that he knows your name
“Yeah.”
You guys sit and talk for literally hours
It’s dark when you come back
James walks you to your common room
And the prefect is just making his rounds
“You’re out of bed Potter.”
“Well so am I…” You try to diffuse some of the tension
It doesn’t work
“Y/L/N, get inside, I’ll deal with the lion.”
“No. Leave him alone. He was nice enough to walk me back here he could have just gone straight up. I’m watching him walk away and then I’ll go in so that I know you don’t do anything stupid.”
James is very surprised
You were sticking up for him :’)
“Thanks for walking me back James.”
The smile that you gave him made his heart flutter
He felt like a lovesick puppy
That’s what he was
He asks you out with the classic, ‘Can I slytherin to your chamber of secrets’ line
You say no
He is very drunk at the time
Please forgive him
The next day
You tease him about it
“Well, I can verify that I wasn’t acting off of alcohol. The feelings were real, and you have to give me credit that’s a damn good one.”
“The feelings were real?”
“Hell yeah.”
You start dating right that moment
He starts not hating all slytherins which sounds dumb and cheesy but here’s my thought process
He meets a lot of your friends
Some of them are gryffindors, hufflepuffs, or ravenclaws, but the majority are slytherins
And he sees how they make you giggle or laugh or smile
He likes that
He likes your giggle, laugh, and smile
So he starts respecting the people who bring it out in you
But
There are some Slytherins that he’s never gonna be able to get past
Lucius, Bellatrix, Narcissa,
He’s on speaking terms with Regulus
But it’s not fun sometimes
You’re the one that brings them together
You’re really good friends with Regulus and you help him and Sirius not resent each other so much
This was so long what am I doing with my life

Give Me Love (Chapter5)
Tumblr media
I know the last two chapters have been a little shorter but the next one is super long, so I’ll make up for it looool
I hope you guys don't think Michael is too OOC. Obviously, this fic is AU so it puts him in a situation I haven't seen him in. I imagine him kind of reverting back to how he was before Hawthorne when he was all confident after all he's been through. Like when we see him in the woods after Ms Mead gets burned, he’s a mess. And then when we see him at the Satanic church, he’s just sat there crying in the pew like a lil bb. So yeah loool
__________________
Almost a week went by and Amy couldn't believe how things had changed so much. She’d gone from despising him and being mad he was in her space, to them happily being in each other's company. It was a strange friendship. Michael followed her around like a lost puppy. They’d pair up for classes, and whenever there were no classes, he was by her side. Whenever she was with Mallory and Coco, when they ate lunch or dinner. Then at night they'd sit on their respective beds and talk about anything and everything. He seemed to be more comfortable with her now and thankfully he hadn't cried since. She felt better about befriending the enemy now. He was doing good and practising hard. She actually found herself liking him and it shocked her. He was witty, kind, incredibly intelligent. He often did fancy things with his powers when they were alone at night, loving how her face would light up as she watched him. He seemed to really soak in her praise and her awe. But still, sometimes it felt a little weird.
She felt like the only alone time she had now was when she needed to use the bathroom. And whilst she didn't mind being shadowed by him, sometimes she wondered if it was healthy for him to have latched onto her so much. Zoe and Cordelia were pleased about it, seeing him improve and become happier. But he just seemed so… attached to her. It wasn't like a normal friendship. It was almost like he depended on her. It made her feel a little bit pressured. Mallory had said to her that maybe she was the one to keep him on track, and now she was feeling the weight of that. She was worried if she upset him he might snap. She had tried to distance herself on her part. Sure he was beautiful and made her smile all the time, but she had her walls up at all times, just like she did with everyone else. For some reason, it just felt like she had to work extra hard not to let Michael in fully. It was like he was softening the walls she had hidden behind.
The more time she spent with him, the more she started to think he was actually a virgin. It shocked her really. She expected the Antichrist to be a bit of a slut. It wasn't like he didn't get attention. Jessica would switch between trying to be all over him and then being a bitch, and a few other girls seemed to watch him with heart eyes. But he always seemed so uncomfortable. She’d catch him looking at her sometimes though, and then he’d blush and look away quickly. Whenever the topic of sex came up with her, Mallory and Coco, he would tense up and seem like he wanted to run away. She had no idea how on earth he hadn't had contact with anyone in that manner but sometimes she found herself amused by it. It was kind of cute.
She was sat by the vanity as she applied mascara to her long lashes. She was wearing a tight black dress and her boots, her hair up in a messy ponytail. She had been itching to go and see Ryan. She had spent all her time with Michael but her body needed to let off some steam and Ryan was more than willing to help. But when she’d told Michael he'd done nothing but sulk.
“Do you have to go?” he asked, glaring at her with his shiny blue orbs through the reflection. She heaved a sigh as she turned around to face him. She didn’t miss how his eyes travelled to her very visible cleavage before he blushed and looked back at her face.
“I won't even be gone long. Just sleep, or read or something. I’ll be back before you know it,” she said softly. She felt like she was dealing with a child. She knew if he started crying she wouldn't be able to go. She’d feel too bad. He frowned as he looked down at his hands. He did that a lot when he was sad. She blew out a breath and stood up, walking over to his bed.
“You don't need me here all the time Michael. Sometimes I need to go and do my own thing,” she furrowed her brow looking at him. She kept her voice soft so he didn't think she was upset with him. She wasn't upset. She was just worried with how attached he’d gotten to her when she was keeping him at arm's length.
“I do need you. I don't want you to go,” he muttered petulantly. She sat on the edge of his bed and took his hand, making him look at her.
“I know, but I won't even be gone that long. You know me okay? You know I need this,” she frowned. She didn’t like talking about the reason behind her visits with Ryan, but since Michaels deep dive into her soul, she hoped reminding him would make him see that she needed to go before she lost her fucking mind. He stared at her for a minute with a look she couldn't place and then he shrugged. She sighed, she felt so fucking bad but she needed to put more distance between them clearly. Things were starting to feel too weird and too much like he depended on her.
“I’ll be back in a couple of hours okay?” she said softly as she stood up. He didn't say anything or look at her and she heaved a heavy sigh again. She needed to leave before the guilt consumed her and kept her here.
When she returned a few hours later, just after midnight, she wasn't in a good mood. She hadn't been able to get off which was new to her so now she was completely frustrated. And the whole time she was there she was worried about Michael. She had no idea why he was consuming her every thought when she was away from him but it was annoying to no end. And now she was suffering from a female case of blue balls. When she slipped into their room, he was in bed. But as soon as the door shut he shot up, eyes wide as he looked at her in the dark.
“You're back,” he smiled. That smile, so full of relief. It made her heart clench painfully.
“Of course I’m back. Did you think I’d just leave completely?” she snorted, trying to make the atmosphere feel less heavy. She pulled off her boots as he stood up. When she looked at him she could see his glassy eyes and how his lip quivered. She knew what was coming.
“I don't know. I just… everyone I care about leaves me,” he muttered, his brows pinching together as he glared at the floor.
The sadness in his voice felt like a knife in her gut and she blinked at him sadly. This poor damaged boy. She tried to ignore how he’d implied he cared about her. He just needed a friend and she happened to be the one who shared a room with him. That's all it was. She padded over to him barefoot and took his large hand in hers.
“Michael… I’m not going anywhere, okay?” she asked softly. She didn't realize the weight of her promise to the broken boy in front of her. He looked into her eyes and sniffled, giving her a weak smile. Chip by chip her walls were starting to crumble around the sunshine haired boy with the ocean blue eyes and she did something she hadn’t done yet. She wrapped her arms around his middle and hugged him. It was something simple, but to her, hugs were a rare thing. She rarely even gave Mallory a proper hug. It always felt so intimate. But he willingly wrapped his arms around her, burying his nose into her hair as he soaked her in.
She was shocked really. Being in his arms felt so… nice. He was warm and it made her belly feel all weird. It was strange. She’d certainly never felt that with anyone else she’d hugged before. It felt like they stood in the darkness of their room for an eternity before she finally peeled herself away from him, out of sheer exhaustion. She smiled at him and he gave her a brilliant grin that made her heart beat all funny.
“How was your night?” he asked as he moved to sit back on his bed. There was a weird edge to his voice she couldn't place though.
“Shit honestly. I couldn't get off at all. I think I’m broken,” she snorted as she grabbed her pyjamas off her bed. Even in the dark, she noticed his cheeks tinge pink as he grinned and looked down.
“I’m sorry,” he said softly.
“Sure you are. You didn't even want me to go,” she laughed. She turned her back and pulled her dress off, standing in just her panties. She never felt the need to go to the bathroom to change in front of him. It wasn’t like he could see anything with her back turned. Although sometimes she caught his reflection staring at her ass. She wouldn't lie, it made her feel a little better and gave her an ego boost. He was gorgeous and everyone else he seemed to have no interest in. If the angel-faced boy wanted to stare at her ass then she'd let him.
She slipped her pyjama shorts and tank on before she got into bed and looked at him. He was sat under his covers staring at her.
“So you survived a few hours without me. How was it?” she asked wryly. He narrowed his eyes at her then and rolled his eyes.
“Awful. I don't like it went you're not here,” he muttered. Once again sounding like a child.
“I won't be around forever Michael. You did fine before you knew me, you'll be fine if I’m not here every once in a while,” she said softly, once again trying to reinforce distance between them. A deep frown etched onto his face then as he looked at her as if she just told him she’d murdered a puppy.
“You said you're not going anywhere,” he whispered sounding distraught. It was then she realized just how much stock he took with every word she said to him. She’d need to be more careful with what she said.
“I’m not planning on it. But I do have things to do sometimes. And honestly… shit happens. I could get hit by a car tomorrow and there's nothing I can do about it,” she stated with a shrug.
His blue eyes widened as he looked completely mortified and she wished she could gobble the words back up into her mouth. She was trying to hint at the fact she couldn't always be glued to his side but it wasn't going so well.
“Don't say that! I need you around!” he frowned. The lip quivered again. She needed to abort this mission and fast. She always felt so awkward when he cried. It wasn't her thing.
“I know Michael. It's fine, okay? I’m here. You don't need to worry. Now sleep. We have class in the morning,” she said firmly. Sometimes she felt like a babysitter with him. Her words did the trick though as his face softened and he nodded with a smile.
“Goodnight Amy,”  he said softly as he lay down. She inhaled a deep breath wondering what the fuck she had gotten into.
“Night Michael,” she replied as she also lay down. She’d become friends with the Antichrist who was now weirdly attached to her. She had no idea how she'd managed that one or how to fix it. Maybe she’d talk to Mallory about it.

Remedy For A Broken Heart (Misty Day x Reader)
Request: “I was wondering if you could do a Misty Day imagine based off this new season where she comes back? Reader had feelings for Misty before what happened but didn't tell her soon enough but now that she's back reader confesses and it's just fluffy at the end?” -
Warnings: MAJOR APOCALYPSE SPOILERS, somewhat off request, slight angst, fem!reader, lesbian!reader/lesbian!Misty, no foxxay but strong mentor-ish relationship, established relationship between Misty and reader,
Word Count: 1.2k
A/N: Been a very long time since I watched the episode of coven I mentioned just btw
Tumblr media
For years now, you had been different. Even the new girls could feel the sadness that radiated off of you when you talked about Misty Day’s death. They didn't need to be empaths or even clairvoyant to see and hear the pain of it all.
So when your fellow members of the council told you there might be a rising supreme, you jumped at the chance to see her. To meet her, to assess her powers and abilities. The plane ride was full of emotions. On one hand, you were sad to think that Delia might be fading. But them, you were shocked and overjoyed. You always were when there was big news like this. It meant there was hope for Misty.
She was the only girl you’d ever loved. Maybe the only one you’d ever love. You couldn’t lie, you’d thought about your future after she died, and what would come of it. A young, talented witch learning to control her abilities. Halted and blinded by hazy visions of love and lust for the blonde girl. She shared the same feelings. You didn't even remember how it happened, the two of you getting together. Maybe she did. But one day the two of you became simply inseparable, glued to each other, and that was that.
The other girls in the Academy didn't much care. They were just glad to finally see you and her together. Quite frankly, they were all sick of seeing the two of you all bashful and antsy in each others presence. Not to mention, it was simply nice to have some happiness around.
But then, the seven wonders were administered. You had no doubts about Misty passing. She didn't want to be the next supreme, and she was very open about that. So everyone grew impatient when she had one final test to go. Descensum.
You regretted everything about that day. You should have stopped her. Told her it was silly, let her read up some more on what to prepare for. To ask Cordelia to postpone it. And even more, you hated that you let her go through it.
You were lucky enough to be able to escape your hell. Your girlfriend was not. You had sat next to her, playing with the hem of her shawl while everyone waited for her to wake up. God, you knew she wouldn't have been happy that you were pulling on the fringe but you couldn’t help yourself. There was an odd feeling in the air, and it wasn’t just you that felt it.
Cordelia paced around the room. Myrtle tried to keep everyone calm. Zoe held your hand and warded off Madison’s snide remarks. But even Madison herself could barely find it within herself to joke about the situation at hand. Queenie... She just waited in silence. The lack of sound became deafening as you came to the realization that she was stuck.
And that... That’s how you lost your best friend. Cordelia tried and tried with all of her spells and incantations and potions but nothing worked. Your efforts were useless. The sun came up and she was gone without a trace, nothing but disintegrating ashes on the floor.
But now, as you sat by the window on the airplane, you thought about her. Cordelia held your hand tightly. She was just as nervous as she was to meet the student. She was far from believing there could be a warlock supreme, but you were one of the few that believed it. Just because something’s never happened before doesn't mean it won't ever, right?
It felt like forever before you found yourself sitting at the wooden table across from the powerful men. You all threw thinly veiled insults at each other before Cordelia pulled rank and refused their request to send their boy through the seven wonders. Misty’s accident had made the council, which was now composed of you, Zoe, and Myrtle, very weary about administering the test. You had refused countless requests from covens all across the world, and this one was no different.
But soon enough, Cordelia gave in. She caved after going unconscious upon coming face-to-face with Michael Langdon. He had taken her by surprise, no doubt, and she wasn’t fond of it. He ambushed her with Queenie and Madison, both of which girls were... Dead. He needed to prove a point to the supreme, and he did. Painfully so.
Now that... That’s what truly gave you hope. No longer was it just blind faith. No longer was your search a lost cause. He was powerful. It radiated off of him so strongly that it was almost sickening. There were no correct words to describe the feeling that pooled in the pit of your stomach as you absentmindedly listened to your supreme lead the test.
"And so we arrive at the final test... Descensum.” Cordelia spoke with an air of authority. It suited her well. “But today I’m not asking you to perform this wonder. Today I am asking you to conquer it. I’d like you to retrieve my dear friend Misty Day, who lost her own battle with this very task.”
That... That caught your attention. Your gaze wandered around the room, scanning all of the faces before you found his. Your eyes locked onto his icy blue ones as the warlocks around you raged at her request.
Your heart pounded in your chest as Delia negotiated with Ariel in the other room about the task she had asked the boy to complete. And with that, you could hear Michael’s words in echo through your head even though he was far away in the bunker.
“It’s okay. I’ll get your friend back.”
Moments later, he was laid across the floor. His eyes stared into you as he chanted his incantation before they snapped shut, allowing him to descend into the underworld. The wait was antagonizing. It felt like so long. Minutes turned into hours as you waited for him to wake up, to come back... With Misty.
But finally, his eyes flickered open. Everyone around the room was shocked, surprised. No one even noticed for the few split seconds that she wasn’t there until ashes began to pool on the floor. Ashes turned to bone. Bone turned to flesh. Flesh turned into her beautiful clothing and her blonde hair was a mess all over the wood.
Your Misty was back. And she was so gorgeous, so perfect as she opened her big blue eyes. Cordelia rushed to her side and you were quick to follow, pushing her hair out of her face. You planted a chaste kiss to her lips as she smiled. She sat up a moment later, focused on nothing but you.
“Baby,” She breathed. “I missed you so much!” She turned her head to Cordelia. “And you too!”
Misty looked around the room to see Madison, Queenie, Zoe, Myrtle... The warlocks. You could tell that she was confused by some of the people, but she knew that you’d explain it to her later. For now, she was okay as she sat on the cold wooden floor. She was out of hell, and back in her girlfriend’s arms, safe and sound.

Someone to Rely On
Zoe Murphy x Reader Angst/Fluff
Word Count: 1,425
Warnings: Mentions of Connor’s death, but no details past that, mentions of weed, HARDCORE CRUSHING ON ZOE the biggest of moods
Requested by anon: Thank you for answering! Can I request a fake dating Zoe Murphy with a side of mutual pining then please? lol (or honestly anything you can think of for her if you would write for her because you're fab)
A/N: Thanks for the compliments! I tried to make it fluffier, but that didn’t happen. Part 2?
Masterlist
————
“Hey, Y/N!” Zoe greeted as she ran up to you. She hugged you tightly and quickly releasing you from the embrace.
“Hey, Zo,” you replied happily, laughing lightly at her enthusiastic greeting.
“I have so much to tell you about Jazz Band!” She said, launching into a long story about some kid, being really sweaty and awkward around her after her last show.
“Well, maybe he was nervous to talk to you. That’s the kid with anxiety, right? He’s in my English class,” you replied, “I mean, you’re pretty cute.”
“Thanks, Y/N,” she replied, “but you have to say that, you’re my best friend.”
You felt a pain in your stomach at the words. It was just a flash, but you knew what it was. You were Zoe’s ‘best friend’. You didn’t like when she liked someone else, whether it was a boy or a girl. You didn’t like when someone flirted with her or asked her out. You didn’t like it when she called you her friend.
A while ago, you had thought it was purely platonic love and protectiveness. Around a year ago, though, you had realized something.
You had a huge crush on Zoe Murphy.
“Umm, Y/N, are you okay?” She said, waving a hand in front of your face.
“I’m fine,” you replied, smiling at her, “just lost in thought. I should get to class.”
The rest of the day passed quickly. It was an oddly peaceful day, the kind of peaceful that only exists before a storm. Unfortunately, you didn’t notice it until it was too late.
You got to your house, just lying down on your bed when your phone went off.
——
Zo
Can you come over?
Y/N
Definitely. Why?
Zo
Can’t write it. Can barely believe it. Just please, come?
Y/N
Okay. I’ll be there in a few.
——
You got to the Murphys’ home, quickly finding the spare key and letting yourself in. You climbed the stairs quietly as to not disturb the quiet atmosphere. You walked to Zoe’s room. Before you entered, you saw that Connor’s door was open. Not only that, but Cynthia Murphy was sitting there on Connor’s bed. Connor never let anyone in there.
As you walked to Zoe’s room, you took a deep breath, preparing yourself for whatever was causing such strange behavior in the Murphy home. As you stood there you were hit by the odd yet familiar mixture of weed and cupcakes. The smell reminded you of the first time you had come over after Connor had started smoking at home. You and Zoe could hardly stand the stench of the weed, and you had been coughing since you got there. Zoe marched down the hall, armed with just a bottle of Velvet Sugar. It was new, you remembered, you had just gone to the mall together because she had run out of it. She walked to Connor’s door and started to spray it everywhere. She backed up as she did this, creating a barrier between Connor’s room and hers.
You opened the door to Zoe’s room as you went back to the real world. She was just sitting there on her bed. She looked completely emotionless. It was unsettling. She sat completely still until she noticed you a minute later.
“Hey,” she offered weakly.
“Hey,” you returned, your voice small and comforting, “what’s going on? Connor’s letting your parents in his room now?”
“He doesn’t have much say in the matter,” she laughed at her own, rather morbid, joke.
“What does that mean?” you asked, confused about Zoe’s humor in such a gloomy atmosphere.
“Connor’s dead,” she simply stated, as if it were the simplest thing in the world, “and you know the weirdest thing? I don’t care.”
“Zoe,” you said uneasily as you say next to her. You weren’t sure what today to that. “You can’t mean that.”
“But I do,” she flopped back to lie down, “I mean every word. He was a terrible person. He was a monster, and I shouldn’t have to remember him as anything different. My mom says that he tried, that he ‘deserves to be remembered with dignity,’ but what about what I deserve? I know it sounds self-centered, but-”
“I know, Zoe,” you cut her off when you noticed the tears sliding down her face. You wrapped your arms around her as you lay next to her. She quickly buried her face in her shoulder.
You both fell asleep soon due to the stressful day. You woke up an hour later. Seeing Zoe when you woke up was, well, confusing for a second, but after you realized the situation, you just looked at her for a second. Her face had returned to a more calm and somewhat happy expression, making you smile. She was so incredibly wonderful, and you couldn’t tell her that. Well, at least not in the way you wanted to.
You got up to see if you could sneak some food back up to Zoe. You had just entered the kitchen when Cynthia Murphy came in behind you.
“Oh, Y/N! You’re here!” She stated in an oddly perky voice.
“Yeah. Zoe needed some comfort with all of, well, you know,” you said, trying to match the home’s sad mood.
“Yes, I’m sure she did,” she said as if trying to convince herself of it, “when did you get here?”
“Zoe texted me when I got home, so probably about… 3:00?” you answered.
“Oh. So you’ve been here for over an hour?” She asked you.
“I guess,” you said back, “we sort of fell asleep. Tiring day, you know?”
“Of course,” she nodded understandingly, “so can I ask you a question?”
“Of course,” you spoke uneasily, wondering what she may want to know.
“Are you and Zoe dating?” She asked nonchalantly.
You panicked. You didn’t know what to say to that. Were you supposed to answer her? Laugh awkwardly?
“Mom!” Zoe yelled as she entered the room, saving you.
“What?” Cynthia asked.
“That is such an awkward question,” she answered.
“I’m just wondering. Dating someone might be good for you right now. Having someone at the funeral, someone to rely on,” she said as if it were a suggestion. You and Zoe both knew it wasn’t a suggestion, it was an order. She had to bring someone to the funeral and to any family events for the time being. You knew that, but nothing could prepare you for what Zoe did next.
“Well, mom, if you must know, yes. Y/N and I are dating.” She wrapped her arms around you, and kissed your cheek softly. You wished that you could stay in that moment forever, but you knew you couldn’t.
Eventually, Cynthia left the kitchen, and Zoe quickly jumped back. She looked scared, and sort of panicked.
“I’m so sorry, Y/N! I just panicked and I acted out of instinct,” she tried to explain the lie she had just told, “I can say that we broke up or something if you don’t want to pretend to date or whatever.”
“It’s fine, Zoe, it’s going to be okay. I’ll be your girlfriend if you need me to.” You grabbed her hand and pulled her into you as she looked like she was going to cry again.
“Thank you,” she whispered.
“It’s okay. Plus, if I broke up with you now I’d be an asshole,” you laughed.
“The asshole that got away,” she returned, her mood improving already.
“Do you wanna go back upstairs? Watch some Disney movies on Netflix?” You asked her.
“Yeah,” she sighed, “you’re so nice.”
“I mean, I’ve gotta take a care of my girl, right?” You asked jokingly.
“Yeah.” Zoe agreed.
You ended up asking your parents if you could stay the night. They agreed once you explained the situation to them. Neither you nor your parents ever mentioned your feelings for Zoe, but they knew. They knew how you’d do anything to help her. They knew how you looked forward to your “friend dates” whether you went to the mall or watched Netflix, you were excited any time you saw her.
You fell asleep holding Zoe. She had curled up into you as she slowly and peacefully drifted off to sleep. You both basked in the feeling of being so close to your crush, and, for a small time, you were both content, maybe even happy. You soon followed her lead, falling into a deep sleep. Neither of you worried about the next day.

Season 5 Spoilers/Damocles Part 2 missing scenes between Nathan Miller and Harper McIntyre
Footsteps echoed in the long corridors, an oppressive weight hanging in the air as hushed words were exchanged and names were punched into monitors. No rush, no urgency, no adrenaline. Just a purposeful acceptance, a quiet after the storm.
Nathan couldn’t remember the last time it was quiet.
One by one, the last vestiges of humanity, be they Eligius, Wonkru, or the ones left behind, were going to sleep.
As if it would be magically better when they woke up again.
As if they could undo what they’d done.
As if they could be saved.
“You’ve cleaned up good.”
Nathan blinked, shaking himself out of his morbid reverie. He watched numbly as nimble fingers darted over the keypad to his cryo-chamber, checking details. “I’m waiting for Jackson,” he said, the pointless words falling like lead from his tongue.
“I figured,” Harper smiled softly, hopping up to sit on the biobed next to Nathan. Her every movement was fluid, easy… content.
Nathan felt a stab of irrational jealousy, felt his mouth twist sourly. He looked down to his hands, ran rough fingertips over the webs of scars that weaved over his skin. Indelible marks of a six years he could never, would never forget.
“He’s good for you,” Harper continued. “I’m glad you have him. I’m glad he was there.”
“I’m not,” Nathan murmured, squeezing his eyes shut involuntarily. He hadn’t meant to say that. You didn’t speak of it, that was the rule. You never spoke of it. You gritted your teeth, and you survived.
But this was Harper. This was his friend, his sister, his kin.
“I don’t need a thief to show me how to shoot a gun.”
“Yeah? And I don’t need a scrawny girl watching my back.”
“Well I need you both to stop with your pissing contest so I can actually listen for grounders, but you can’t always get what you want. Bellamy’s put us together, so suck it up. For the record Zoe, Miller is a way better shot than you-”
“Thank you!”
“And Miller if you call either of us scrawny girls again, I will watch while a grounder stabs you.”
“Ha! Now that would liven up the evening.”
“Whatever, Monroe. You want lively? I’ve got some of that stuff Monty and Jasper’ve been brewing.”
“You’re an idiot Miller.”
“But I am a great thief.”
“You’re both hopeless. What part of keeping watch do you not understand?”
“C’mon Harper, no grounder is gonna be out in this weather.”
“Fine, but if we go blind from this crap, I’m feeding your beanie to the two headed deer.”
Miller, McIntyre, and Monroe. They had been three of the best of Bellamy’s gunners. And they had trusted each other with their lives.
Zoe… it had been over seven years since they lost her, and it still felt raw.
All the lost souls lingered like festering wounds in the survivors’ souls, even when the Drop Ship graveyard was nothing more than radioactive dust.
Gentle fingers crept over his, entwining, squeezing, “You did as good as you could. You kept him alive, you kept yourself alive… and Octavia.”
Nathan flinched. He knew how Harper must feel about Octavia after everything that had happened. So what must she think of him? How could she understand why he did what he did, when Bellamy had only been able to look at him in disbelief and disgust? How could she understand why he kept standing by her, even after everything?
“So much for the 100…” Harper said softly, her words an echo of Bellamy’s. Nathan looked at her sharply, but all he saw was the same calm sadness. “I heard what Bellamy said to you. You know how heated he can get, how blinkered. He and Octavia are more alike than either would like to admit. But she was the last one left, right? I checked the manifests. It was only you, Octavia, Hallie and Rob who made it into the bunker. And then it was just you and Octavia. Then there were two.”
“Six years, Harper. It was six years,” Nathan said, not sure what he meant by that, but needing to say it.
“I know,” Harper said, squeezing his hand before resting her head on his shoulder to watch more people lying down into their pods. Monty and Jackson were over on the other side of the room, settling Murphy down. Emori was already asleep, but Jackson had wanted to double check on Murphy’s healing wounds to make sure the cryo freezing would go smoothly.
They sat there together, legs dangling like kids off the end of the bed, letting a soft silence fall between them as they watched the people they loved work. It was oddly comforting. Nathan couldn’t remember the last time he had felt like this.
And then the words started to fall from his lips, each one weighted with so many more words left unsaid, “Gunners at the Drop Ship… Mount Weather prisoners… rebels in Arkadia and then Skaikru loyalists. It was always the same path. We were always the 100. And then you went to the sky, and I went underground.”
“And then it was six years,” Harper finished for him sadly. “I’m sorry I couldn’t have your back.”
“I’m sorry I couldn’t have yours… even when the bunker opened, I should’ve-”
“Nate, stop,” Harper said sharply, raising her head from his shoulder to look him full in the eye. “It’s okay. Really. You’ve always been loyal. And we both had people to protect.”
An unbelievable weight seemed to lift from Nathan at his best friend’s words, like an iron band around his chest had finally snapped. His lips twitched in a ghost of his old smile, “Monroe would bang our heads together if she could see us now.”
Harper grinned, eyes slightly too bright in the half light, “Probably. But I reckon she’d be happy to know that we have Monty and Jackson to do it for her, if we ever need a reality check.”
“You think? I always thought she’d laugh that we managed to get the two biggest pacifists on Earth to love us,” Nathan grinned fondly.
“Being a pacifist is underrated,” Harper said pensively, and Nathan followed her loving gaze to where Monty and Jax were finishing up with Murphy’s pod. “You should give it a go sometime, you might find you like it.”
“Maybe when we get back down there, you never know,” Nathan said, still not sure if he believed that such a time or place could exist for him. “Guess it’s my turn next…”
“And then there were four,” Harper said quietly.
Nathan frowned. Four? Even if they didn’t count Bellamy and Raven in the original 100, there was still more of them left than that. Not many, but every person still alive was worth the world. “You mean six,” he corrected.
Harper hopped off the bed, stood to face him, and she didn’t even need to say anything. He knew.
“Shit, Harper…” Nathan murmured, suddenly terrified to let go of her hands. Because sure, everything could go smoothly, they could all wake up in ten years. Harper and Monty would just have taken the long road. But Nathan was one of the 100. He knew things never went smoothly, and definitely not as planned. He had learnt that the hard way, time and time again.
He pulled her towards him with a small jerk, and she slipped into his arms willingly, squeezing him tightly as she balanced on tiptoes to hug him as he stayed sitting on the biobed. Her hand curled to cup the back of his head as she whispered with tears in her voice, “I’ll finally be older than you. You won’t be able to boss me about.”
“Like that ever stopped you before.”
“Nate? You ready?” Jackson’s voice cut through the moment, and Harper’s warmth was gone as they parted. He felt hollow.
“No, but sure,” Nathan rubbed his hands together, clearing his throat to try and regain some balance. Jax frowned at him, an unspoken question flitting across his face, but he didn’t press.
He looked at Monty as Jackson fiddled with his cryochamber’s settings. Monty slipped an arm around Harper and smiled at him. Nathan nodded, trying to convey in barely a moment everything he wanted to say to his friend.
“All set,” Jackson’s voice was too confident, there was that note in it that Nathan had come to listen for, the undercurrent of uncertainty buried deep.
“Hey,” Nathan caught Jackson’s wrist lightly in his fingers, pulling him into a kiss that he wanted to last forever. When they broke apart, he rested their foreheads together, “I’ll see you on the other side. We’ll be good, you know we will.”
“I’ll be right beside you,” Jackson nodded, shored up by Nathan’s words. “I love you.”
“I love you too,” Nathan said, stealing one last kiss.
And as he lay down, he glanced past Jax to take one last look at Harper and Monty.
Frost, cold, silence, dark.
It really was like blinking.
125 years.
Things never go as planned.
Jackson was there, and Murphy, Clarke and Octavia. Bellamy and Raven.
But Monty and Harper were long gone.
The ghost-touch of her fingertips still lingered in his, just like Zoe’s laugh echoed in the back of his mind.
He had only been awake for ten minutes when he met Jordan, all smiles and awkwardness and light. He knew Nathan’s name, he knew his story. He knew about Miller, McIntyre and Monroe as he tripped over his words and guided Nathan and Jackson to where the rest of the 100 were waiting.
125 years, and they were careful who to wake up first. Because sleep had gone by in a blink of an eye, and nothing had changed.
But so had everything.
“Oh, and this is for you,” Jordan said, pulling a grubby little package from his pocket and handing it to Nathan.
He could hear Murphy around the corner, derisive tones oddly comforting. Jax was a steady presence at his elbow. “What is it?” Jackson asked.
“It’s from Mom,” Jordan shrugged.
Frowning, Nathan gently tore the package open. A black knitted bundle was inside, pinned with a note in familiar hand.
To keep you warm on the new world.
And then there were five.
Nathan unrolled the bundle and despite the tight lump in his throat, couldn’t help but smile. It was a beanie.
A hat, and barely a handful of words, but Harper’s message rang loud and clear.
Nathan wouldn’t disappoint her.

So I saw The Movie. Spoilers--good, bad (or neutral), and ugly--below. Spoiler-free: not as good as the first Avengers, but better by far than AoU.
The Good
This film made me even more furious with Joss Whedon, solely because it proves that the problems in AoU were of his own making, namely his inability to handle too many characters and therefore incompetence when it comes to a film of this type. The Russo brothers took a very smart approach to this, in that they knew they couldn’t take the time to give all of the good guys the characterization they’d have gotten in a film with a smaller cast, so they basically made Thanos the main character, which is really what should’ve happened with Ultron but inexplicably did not happen.
And man, what a joy Thanos is as a character. So many superhero villains are so kind of... one dimensional, tbh. Or not one dimensional, but rather, they seem to have an understanding that what they’re doing is evil or, if they don’t have that understanding, a lack of real conviction. They’re nascent Sith, in a sense, running on either the sheer joy of being cruel or on a heightened desire for vengeance. They can be a lot of fun, don’t get me wrong, but they seem, for lack of a better word, like cartoon villains.
They’re fun, like I said, and the world is full of people who are just... evil for the sake of being evil (as we’ve found out in the last ~2+ years more than a lot of us realized, I think), but they get tired when they’re the villain of everything. Chaotic Evil, in other words, gets less compelling when it’s all you see. It becomes the same person with a different mask, 9/10 times, which I’m sure contributes a lot to superhero movie fatigue.
Thanos, though, I enjoyed because he was 100% convinced that what he was doing was for the good of the universe. Ultron was trying to go there, I think, but Whedon handled it with about as much delicacy as a bull in a china shop (Ultron is mostly redeemed by his being played by James Spader, who is a delight at all times, but that also ends up being his downfall because you get the feeling that he’s winking at the audience the entire time... “I’m saying this with conviction, but here’s a quip to show that I know I’m evil.”). Thanos actually felt real. He felt like he believed everything he was saying, like he truly thought he was doing the universe a mercy, that he was the good guy.
And that doesn’t redeem him by any means (incoming people screeching about how I’m downplaying genocide or stanning because dude’s evil, y’all), but it makes him infinitely more compelling, and GOD, that is refreshing. It’s the same way that Killmonger was refreshing because, even though you don’t agree with it, you see his point. I mean, who among us that’s worked retail hasn’t wanted to snap our fingers and make half of humanity vanish? It’s been more than a decade since my last retail position, and I still have those days.
On a different level, it’s that garbage that gets pushed by freshman level philosophy students who are like “people should stop having babies” because that, not a mismanagement of resources by the wealthy and powerful, is why there’s scarcity. It’s rubbish, absolute rubbish (and it doesn’t work because science tells us that the universe, that all of existence, is infinite... and fuck, the movie’s science tells us that as well--Bananabread Cabletelevision had his little moment of hunting for spoilers and only got through about 1.4 million of the unending possibilities that exist BUT I DIGRESS), but at first blush, you ask yourself, “Wait, does he have a point?” No, he does not.
A rundown of other Goods:
Look, Thor in lightning form is the sexiest creature in existence. I’m sorry, I don’t make the rules.
Also I appreciated him getting another smushface. And then the immediately following Battle of the Chrises (all I’m saying is that if there’s not a threeway Chris standoff in Part Deux, I’ll be very sad. Also, someone please cast Chris Pine in Captain Marvel, he needs to spend the rest of eternity watching powerful women heroes in awe).
The people who were allowed gave fantastic performances. RDJ will be sorely missed as Iron Man (because if y’all think he’s living past the next film, I’m sorry for your loss), and of the good guys, I felt like he came the closest to being the main character here. Which has been true of the other Avengers films as well, so that’s nice to see. Ultimately, these first three phases of the MCU were Tony Stark’s story, and that finale will be really... well, painful.
Other great performances: Tom Holland (darling baby child, I wept for you), Mark Ruffalo (good at constipation), Bagels Cucumbers (that hurts to admit, he’s the Worst, but damn if he isn’t a good actor), Zoe Saldana (you’d better come back), Chris Hemsworth (as always), Paul Bettany (NOOO), and Elizabeth Olsen (poor darling).
The humor was nicely balanced, not fourth-wall breaking like you get in the Whedon Avengerses, but logical. It was kind of like exhaling: inhale the action and serious stakes, exhale the humor. It allowed breathing room in all the intensity, so that was great.
Also how can I have missed Wakanda that much if it’s only been like... not even two months since I saw Black Panther?
Look, if the next movie involves just one scene--just one!--of Okoye, Nat, and Wanda fighting together, my ticket will have been worth its price.
Related, Proxima Midnight is (a) literally the coolest name for anyone ever, and (b) my wife now.
The Neutral-Bad
Or, really, more the expected.
In any ensemble movie, you’re going to have a lot of characters whose purpose is just to step on scene, state their name and allegiance, and then fade into the background. This ended up being the case with pretty much all of Team Cap, and it was to their detriment. They had their shining moments (”Earth just lost her greatest defender” made me ship things like FedEx), but as opposed to the group above, they didn’t really have a lot to do? Or even really much in the way of reactions? They just sort of... came and saw and fought and that was it.
It felt a lot like nobody knew what to do with those characters, which is fair enough, but it also felt like they were wasted, and they shouldn’t have been. If I had to guess, I’d guess that the writers had to pick and choose which good guys they wanted to focus on and which new Avengers and old Avengers would get the attention. Tony because these films have been basically a huge Iron Man series. Thor because I think? the plot requires him to be Important, as per comic books. But as much as I adore Thor, I wish there had been a focus on Steve more. With Tony, you’ve got the plot of “oh my god Thanos, the thing I’ve been afraid of since 2008″ but maybe Steve could’ve had more of a reluctant plot, like he’s been heroing all this time but all he’s gotten for it is locked up and exiled and shit? I don’t know, point is that if Captain America is going to be so prominent in the MCU logo, he should get a bigger slice of the plot pie.
Also I’m annoyed with Gamora’s passing, though I wouldn’t call it a complete fridging because it wasn’t just for mangst. It was just mostly for mangst. Either way, though, I think that’s the death (besides the end ones) that bothered me the most. It didn’t feel unnecessary and was probably the most shocking, when you look at it objectively (more on that in a second), but... I don’t know, it bothered me, but I can’t 100% put my finger on why/how. I do appreciate, though, that it gave Gamora a decent arc in the film.
Anyway, to the deaths. The presumable permadeaths (Heimdall, Loki, and Gamora) were, for the most part, unsurprising. The Thor trilogy is over, so Heimdall and Loki end up being kind of extra weight, the former because he doesn’t have a lot to do that’s not in a role filled by another character, and the latter because the only other way he could’ve worked in this film was as an eleventh hour heroic sacrifice, and that feels almost too woobie-ish, like beyond Zuko levels of woobie.
The Great Dust Rapture at the end was also fairly unsurprising, mostly because there’s no way a good chunk of those characters aren’t coming back. At least two have sequels literally named after them coming out sometime in the next couple of years; as I also pointed out to Kyle, “Look, Gamora may be dead forever, but if the rest of the Guardians remain dust, GotG3 will just be The Adventures of Rocket Raccoon Being Very Sad.” The non-dusted bunch are the OG Avengers, plus or minus a few friends; the stakes for the next film are, therefore, a LOT higher, since all the OG Avengers have finished their trilogies and, should they survive, will probably only ever show up again in cameos. We know T’Challa and Peter Parker and the Guardians of the Galaxy and probably Dr. Strange and everyone still have Things To Do.
But the OG Avengers do not, and they couldn’t really kill off the main characters of the franchise with one film to go, so...
(also, calling it now: the next film is going to be The Avengers: Rebirth. I will put money on it)
The Ugly
But HNNGH. Okay.
I 100% understand the choices they made with the dustinatings, but like... there’s no suspense whatsoever. If Marvel didn’t release their film titles 6000 years in advance, maybe the stakes would’ve been stakier, but as it stands, it’s like... come on people.
You know what would’ve worked way better and made for stakier stakes? Don’t kill off the main characters from franchises that still have sequels coming out. Kill off sidekicks. T’Challa doesn’t die, but maybe M’baku or Okoye does. Spare at least three of the Guardians of the Galaxy. Leave Peter Parker’s fate uncertain (though his death scene was literally the only one that made me tear up because TOM HOLLAND IS JUST THAT GOOD, DARLING FROG-IN-MOUTH BOY). Bucky, Sam, Nick Fury, Maria Hill--they can remain dusted. But if you want to keep the stakes for the second film while actually letting us believe that there won’t be any resurrections this time, maybe don’t kill people who we know will be back in various MCU films at future dates.
It’s like I keep thinking when I watch trailers for Solo or literally any prequel anything: the problem with 99% of prequels is that we know who lives and who doesn’t, so giving us trailer shots of Chewbacca in danger, for example, is like trying to play peek-a-boo with an adult. We have object permanence, it’s not surprising when you pull your hands away and your face is still there. It’s not surprising that Chewbacca isn’t going to get his face bashed away by a rock. It’s not surprising that somehow, in Avengers Four: You Asked For More, all the dusted people with eponymous films coming up will be back.
Another big plot hole: why didn’t Dr. Strange go and do his future vision the second a giant green man fell into his living room? Bruce, as Bruce, tells him “Thanos is coming for the macguffins” and then he goes and spends the next 5 minutes going through possibilities and then figures out the very easy way to solve the thing.
That easy way? Just have Wanda destroy the time stone. Now we’re not panicking about taking out Vision’s brain as fast as we can (point: that scene was unrealistic, Shuri would’ve actually had it done in about 13 seconds flat) and Thanos has lost and maybe he goes around killing people manually but at least he can’t rewind time if things don’t go his way.
The movie didn’t do this, obviously, but it’s one of those things where it’s like “if your audience can figure out a better way of doing things before the credits even fucking roll, maybe revise your script.”
(if Carrie Fisher had been alive to script doctor this shit, we wouldn’t have this problem, universe)
Other big frustration: does every Avengers film really need Thor to go on an epic quest away from everyone else for half the film? Don’t get me wrong, it was pretty cool to see him jumpstart a sun and see Peter Dinklage being huge (all I’m saying is that if Disney ever acquires the rights to the X-Men, things are going to get very confusing) and see a new Mjolnir-like-object, but oh. my. god. Every time those scenes were happening, I felt like it was a bathroom break. Like legit, that fucking ax had better cleave Thanos in half in the next movie because otherwise, that was so much wasted time that could’ve been devoted to literally anything else.
Final Miscellaneous Thoughts
Maybe this means that GotG3 will be about Peter Quill actually growing up and dealing with his issues. I hope it does.
Also, Nebula/Tony Stark road trip back to earth? I’m all about it.
Wonder Woman would’ve ended this all in about 30 seconds flat, which is why Captain Marvel can’t show up until the next film.
The next film is literally going to be at least 90 minutes of Thanos refusing to interact with anyone trying to kill him because he’s on vacation and fuck you.
Literally why does anyone still live in NYC in the MCU? The first movie would’ve been enough to convince me to move to a cornfield in Nebraska and just stay there for eternity.
“Thanos will return.” Along with literally everyone else SERIOUSLY THIS IS NOT SUSPENSEFUL MARVEL AAAAAAUGH.

okay this fandom is ded but I just realized something huge
the cast recording (so every song except the sincerely me (reprise) and ywbf (reprise) parallels itself. let me explain
okay there are 14 songs and the 7th and 8th songs are disappear and ywbf which have parallel meanings, words, objectives etc. which I will explain later
before disappear and after ywbf (so the 5th and 9th song) are if i could tell her (imma abreviate it icth) and to break in a glove which again, is an example of parallelism and then so on down the line
so here’s my logic behind my insanity
first off: disappear/ywbf: this one is obvious. Even the names kind of compliment each other. If you disappear, you will be found. You get my gist. But also the lines “if you only look around/you will be found” is like a direct response to “no one deserves to be forgotten/no one deserves to disappear.” Also very ominous endings because they’re sung in results of LIES.
icth/tbiag: So when I was first formulating this theory, I was kind of upset when icth didn’t match up with only us but it’s actual works itself out better than I thought, but I’ll get into that later. Anywho, both these songs are about how a member of the murphy family wished they could’ve reconciled with Connor. Zoe realizes that maybe Connor wasn’t so bad and Larry realizes Connor just needed some help, just not the help he could give (metaphorically not literally.) They both realize how much they could actually miss Connor... because of Evan.
okay here’s the good one: requiem/only us: Requiem is the song where we find out who the real Connor is. Zoe hates him, Larry hates him, Cynthia put up with him, etc. All around douche bag to his family (joking joking i kid i kid). It’s mainly Zoe’s ballad to her brother about how she won’t miss him. Then, there’s Only Us which is sung because Evan keeps mentioning her brother. You’d think it’d be the grief stricken sister who’d be constantly talking about her brother instead of the boyfriend, but because of Requiem, we’ve already established it won’t be that way. So, Requiem is kind of like the gateway to Only Us. Without the preluding song, we’d be confused during Only Us.
Sincerely, Me/Good For You: Here’s where it gets sad :( Sincerely Me is the comic relief song while Good For You is the beginning of the climax. The way these two coincide is that it’s the beginning of the lie and Good For You is where it all starts tumbling down. If Jared hadn’t helped Evan, he wouldn’t be singing his part and hate Evan so much. The way Heidi and Alana fit into the equation is that they’re both victims to the widespread lie. And in the end... so is Evan and Connor.
For Forever/Words Fail: There’s obvious lyrical parallels (heck there’s a mini For Forever reprise in it) but the biggest compare/contrast is the use of perfect in the songs. For Forver describes the perfect (but fake) day, the day where Evan felt so happy and loved by Connor when he found him laying on the ground, but in reality he felt what he feels like during Words Fail which is so depressed and high strung, but also, he realized his mistakes and that he needed to fix them and heal himself (physically in for forever and mentally/in his relationships during Words Fail.) For Forver is what Evan thinks perfect feels like (loved, hopeful, etc.) while Words Fail is the result of him trying to obtain that. He found a perfect family and girlfriend in the Murphy’s but it was the way he obtained it.
Wtaw/So big/so small: Both having to do with Evan feeing abandon/outcast. Sb/ss is the story of the root of Evan’s feelings of abandonment while wtaw is probably the beginning of the climax of it. Honestly, if the computer lab scene hadn’t gone the way it had gone... I’m sure it wouldn’t be Connor’s suicide that would be the center of attention. That letter/monologue he gives is too heartbreaking to just be a letter.
abham (omg that acronym)/finale: Abham is Evan through Heidi’s eyes. She sings about how she is lost and implys that so is Evan. By opening with this song, it’s a symbol that Evan can’t even take the first step on his own in his own story. By the end, Evan goes through so much that it ends with him singing the last line about seeing sky for forever. This is the ultimate motif of the musical in which Evan finally a finds his path. He learned how to walk on his own and not have to lie to get to his goal.
So yeah, you can disagree and say I spent the last half an hour typing this out for nothing, (the capitalization is so out of whack) but I think what I realized makes this musical so much more meaningful and beautiful (to me at least).

View this post on Instagram Thanks King Rami - you are IT !!! I’m still in shock at walking away with the two top awards of the night. THANK YOU Golden Globes ! BRI A post shared by Brian Harold May (@brianmayforreal) on Jan 7, 2019 at 3:14am PST

View this post on Instagram I’m done ! After a snip to my calf muscle, I’m feeling good ! The theory is that it will release the excess tension in my Achilles’ tendon and get me out of a painful heel situation I’ve been in for many months. I had the problem all through our last tour of the USA - and although adrenaline got me through, my running around was severely curtailed, and there were a couple of nights when I really couldn’t move at all around the stage (nobody noticed, it seems ! 😏). So now I’ll be taking it easy just a bit for a while, but full recovery should be just in time for getting back out on tour in January - hopefully with a good pair of heels ! THANKS for your good wishes, folks. No cause for alarm. Bri A post shared by Brian Harold May (@brianmayforreal) on Dec 2, 2019 at 11:44am PST

View this post on Instagram I had to find the spot where that lovely old group photo was taken. We did ! It’s at Royal and Toulouse, in New Orleans French Quarter - and although a few things have changed, a lot of the ancient features are still there. The lamp post has been extended upwards - presumably to accommodate that less-than-pretty piece of ‘No Right Turn’ signage - and I seem to have lost my mates ! But ... well, it was a nice feeling to get back there. Now ... how about those other memories. ! Where’s Peaches ?!! Aaaah ... it’s 2019. How did that happen ..? 💥💥💥💥 BIG THANKS to my dear friend Kimberley Barsana for sending me this great antique pic and starting a nice quest ! And thanks to Liam Wheatley who took my picture here, and Zoe Smith who led the search party ! The chap in the background in the picture from 1980 is Walter Versen - who was, for a number of years, my security guard and friend in those days. We are still pals. 💥💥💥💥 And, by the way, if you’re interested in this stuff, there are lots more vintage pictures and stories in my book —— QUEEN in 3-D. View this post on Instagram We’ve enjoyed spending the day with this little boy in our minds. A small boy with big dreams. A young man who became a brother to Roger and John and me for 22 years. A shy boy with whom we shared an impossible vision of making music that would change the world. Little did we dare to believe it would actually happen. I’m happy that through Instagram I’ve been able to share some of the experiences of today. I’ll post some more pics and stuff when I get sorted. Meanwhile ... Asante Sana Freddie. Cheers folks. And thanks @freddiemercuryb for this lovely pic I don’t recall seeing before. Bri A post shared by Brian Harold May (@brianmayforreal) on Jun 11, 2019 at 9:28am PDT

View this post on Instagram Great movies on this plane ! 😊 “Bohemian Rhapsody”, eh ?! I had to take a look at it - to check out how much our movie had been ‘expurgated’ for showing on Oman Air. Yep - they sure hacked away it - no kissing, no ‘bollocks’, and Freddie wasn’t even allowed to quite get to the point of ‘confessing’ to Mary - though it was pretty clear what the scene was about. By the end I really did feel that a lot of the film’s message was lost. Which made me sad. But then again, a lot of the good stuff DID come across even in this version. And - you know - it’s easy to get all superior and disapproving about this stuff - but it wasn’t so long ago that The Rolling Stones were only allowed to perform on the USA’s Ed Sullivan Show if they changed “Let’s Spend the Night Together” to “Let’s Spend Some Time Together” !! Don’t believe me ? Check it out on YouTube ! Maybe we’re not so liberal and progressive as we think we are ! Or maybe, for every nation, it takes time and tolerance and ... compromise ? To get to a good place. One of the things I’ve learned from animal campaigning is that shouting doesn’t always get you what you want. Bri 💥💥💥💥Thanks folks - I’ve enjoyed reading your comments. I don’t usually have time - but today I’m a captive audience and - I’ve learned a thing or two from this. Take care out there. We SHALL overcome. View this post on Instagram This clip is stolen from @bryanjaysinger, who was evidently filming it on his iPhone. When the BR team were shooting this scene, I happened to be around, so Gwil invited me to have a go ! How did I do, folks ? Well, obviously not quite as good as Gwil ! He’s a trained artist ! 😊 We had too much fun ! I’d like to see the rest of what happened, captured by the film cameras which were still rolling ... some day. In case you’re wondering why this solo doesn’t sound like the ‘out-take’ solo in the film, I only had the idea to make that happen later, when we were polishing the soundtrack. In any case, we wouldn’t have had the facilities to do that on the day of the shoot. In the film, you hear a variant take on the Bo Rhap solo which just MIGHT have been the one previous to the final one which made it onto the record! Might ! That’s if it hadn’t been a genius first-take keeper. Ha ha ! I honestly don’t remember ! A million thanks to @mrgwilymlee Bri A post shared by Brian Harold May (@brianmayforreal) on Jan 14, 2019 at 2:28pm PST

Zoe had never brought Alex to the historic part of St. Augustine before, so of course they insisted on spending half an hour in each little shop, examining trinkets one by one. Zoe was fine with it for the first few stores, but after a while she and Blair ducked out for some old-fashioned ice cream. They sat on a bench, people watching. With everything going on, it had been a while since the two of them had just sat and had a conversation.
“As far as human cities go, I don’t mind this one,” Blair said. “We should come here again.”
“I’m sure my mom would love that,” Zoe said. “Maybe we can justify it now that she knows we don’t have to fly here or whatever.” She sighed. It was Tuesday afternoon. The night before, she had finally told her mom the truth about Alex and Blair. It had gone... oddly well. Her mom had clearly suspected something for years. Zoe had expected her to be overwhelmed, and she was, but she seemed more relieved by the end of all the secrecy than anything else. “I just wish I told her sooner.”
“Me too!” said Blair. “That’s two more Thanksgiving dinners I could’ve eaten!”
“You haven’t even had it yet,” Zoe said.
“That doesn’t mean I don’t already know how much I’m going to like it. This ‘apple pie’ sounds absolutely ambrosial.”
“Oh, it is,” said Zoe. “You just have to remember to leave some for the rest of us.”
“We’ll see,” said Blair. They sat quietly for a bit, then Blair looked over at her. “You know, there are a lot of things I wish I had done sooner, too,” she said. “Doesn’t mean I’m not glad I did them eventually.”
Zoe looked at her for a long moment. “Stop being supportive, it’s freaking me out,” she said eventually, shoving Blair’s arm. But she smiled, and the two of them finished their ice cream in comfortable silence.
“So, how many souvenirs do you think Alex is going to be adding to the living room after this?” Blair asked after a few minutes.
“Oh, I’m giving them a limit of 3 items,” Zoe said. “There are only so many seashell-themed decorations I can handle. I left Florida for a reason.”
“And here I thought it was about influencing human government,” Blair said.
“Nope. Avoidance of beachy tourist aesthetic all the way.”
“You love the beach!”
“I love the beach, that doesn’t mean I love wall art of fish and--” Zoe stopped mid-sentence.
“What?” Blair asked.
“Did you see that girl over there? With the yellow sweater? Didn’t she look like Hera?” Zoe couldn’t be sure, but she could’ve sworn she saw her froyo cashier girl from their last Florida trip duck into a shop down the street.
Blair looked around half-heartedly. “My mother does not resemble a human.”
“Not-- ugh. The girl from Orlando who spilled froyo on me. The one who was staring at you?”
“Oh yes, her. I was not a fan.” Blair lost interest.
“Could you tell if it was her?”
“I don’t know, all humans look the same.” Zoe shot her a look. “Not you,” Blair added. Zoe hopped up.
“I’m following her,” she said, leaving Blair alone on the bench.
As soon as Zoe entered the shop, she knew she had been right. The girl was definitely Hera. She was busy examining racks of tacky tourist t-shirts, which gave Zoe time to think of an opening line. She walked right up next to Hera and said, “You know, I have a pink jacket that would look great with that shirt.”
Hera turned, startled first at the unexpected voice and then at seeing Zoe. “Is that right?” she asked, and Zoe was impressed at how quickly she played along. “Funny, so do I!”
“What a weird coincidence,” Zoe said, smiling. Be cool, she told herself.
“Yeah, my friend and I have matching ones,” Hera said, turning her attention back to the shirts. Her friend? She considered Zoe a friend, after two meetings? “She wasn’t sold on the idea at first, but I talked her into it.”
“I’m sure she’s glad you did,” Zoe said. “It probably reminds her of a fun experience.”
“I hope it does,” Hera said, stepping away from the t-shirt rack to look at Zoe again. “I know it does for me.”
Zoe blinked. “Sounds like you two get along well,” she said, not ready to drop the act.
“Yeah, I don’t get to see her often,” Hera said. “She lives in DC, and I live in Orlando, so that’s not really conducive to hanging out. Now that I say that, though, I remember her saying she was Floridian, so it wouldn’t be out of the question for her to visit again. I could even potentially run into her on a day trip to St. Augustine.”
“I’m guessing she grew up right near here and she’s visiting her mom for Thanksgiving,” Zoe said. “I bet she doesn’t know you’re in town. You should ask her out to lunch or something, while you’re here.” She hadn’t broken eye contact. She knew it was silly to do this to herself, to get attached. Hera still lived in Orlando, and she still lived in DC. Like Hera said, not exactly the best situation for hanging out. But after talking to her mom, Zoe felt daring. She didn’t want to replace one regret with another.
“Do you think she’d want to do something right now?” Hera asked.
“I think she would love to,” Zoe said, smiling.
------
Aaron didn’t want to go back home after his weird lunch with Chad. He left the airport and started driving towards St. Augustine. It wasn’t exactly the closest place, but he liked the little streets and hoped walking around would distract him. As soon as he got on 95, he called Kate and explained everything that had happened.
“I’m convinced he likes you,” Kate said for at least the fourth time. “He’s just conflicted because he swore off dating.”
“Does it matter?” said Aaron, staring at the road. “I don’t know, I feel like I just keep getting my hopes up for no reason. You saw how happy he was talking to Blair, he’s not going to give that up for some dude he kinda knows.”
“I think he more than kinda knows you at this point, Aaron,” Kate said. “You guys talk all the time. He cares a lot about you.”
“You’re making it wooooorse,” Aaron said.
“Sorry. I just. I don’t think you should give up,” Kate said. “He can still serve Blair and date at the same time.”
“You try telling him that,” Aaron said. “Except don’t you dare, because I know you would.”
“I so would.” Kate laughed. “But I won’t, not unless you want me to.”
“Ugh, boys,” Aaron said. “I never had these issues before I liked boys.”
“Your ex-girlfriend used you for evidence and probably helped your cousin get murdered.”
“Uncalled for!”
“Just saying.”
Aaron drove silently for a few seconds. He hadn’t thought of Sherlock in a while. “Is it worse to have someone date you and not like you or like you and not date you?”
“Aha!” Kate said, so loudly Aaron had to jerk the phone away from his ear. “So you admit he likes you!”
“I don’t know if he likes me or not,” Aaron said. “But I do know he won’t date me.” He paused. “This time is worse,” he said, sighing. “At least Sherlock didn’t have an accent.”
“You’re hopeless,” said Kate.
------
When Alex finished souvenir shopping, they found Blair on a bench by herself. “Where’s Zoe?” they asked, sitting down next to her.
“She went off after some human,” Blair said. “I don’t know.”
“Well, is she ok?” Alex asked. Sometimes Blair was so unhelpful.
“She’s fine. She thought it was the one she met up with when we were in Orlando.”
“The cashier girl? She was here?” Alex looked around.
“Apparently,” Blair said, clearly not invested. “Well, show me what you bought.”
Alex bounced up. “Oh, you’ll love these, they’re so cute,” they said, pulling out some salt and pepper shakers shaped like lighthouses. Blair looked at them and pretended to care-- something she had gotten much better at. “And look at this,” Alex went on, handing Blair a small bottle of water labeled Fountain of Youth. “The humans believe it will make them live forever.”
“That’s ludicrous,” said Blair, examining the bottle.
“You mean you don’t remember?” said Alex.
“Remember…?”
“That time we ran into those humans looking for the Fountain of Youth--”
“--and we convinced them it was here!” Blair finished. “I forgot about that. I guess it worked.” She laughed. “I can’t believe that rumor lasted this long.”
“I think there must be some local nymphs who kept it going,” Alex said. “Good for publicity, I guess.”
Blair looked around. “It looks a lot different here. It was such a swamp back then.”
“It got a lot nicer once they put up the castle,” said Alex. “I remember them building it.”
“You do?”
“Yeah, it was a couple years after I got exiled. I used to watch them work on it sometimes.”
“Oh.” Blair got quiet, like she always did when Alex’s banishment came up.
“Blair, it’s fine,” they said. “It’s in the past. Hakuna Matata.” Zoe had been insisting they watch all the Mickey Mouse films. She was a pretty devoted follower of his.
Blair smiled. “Well, let me keep trying to make it up to you anyway. Do you want to go on the castle tour?”
“Oooh, yes!”
The two of them toured the Castillo, Alex talking about what they remembered from when it was being built. At the end of the tour, Blair wanted to go back for a second round of ice cream.
“I’ll meet you there,” Alex said. “I want to see the view first.” They started walking towards the ledge dividing the grass around the castle from the river.
A single human was leaning against the wall, looking out at the water. Alex walked a little closer and then realized they recognized the human-- it was one of Chad’s friends from the B4B conference. Why did he look so sad? Alex wanted to comfort him, but they didn’t want to reveal that they knew who he was. Zoe always said it was weird to go up to random people and talk to them without a reason. Humans and their societal conventions.
“Excuse me,” Alex said, approaching the boy. “Would you mind taking my picture? It’s just that it’s such a nice view and I can’t fit it all in a selfie.” The boy looked up, and Alex noticed that his eyes were red. He cleared his throat and then smiled.
“Sure, of course,” he said, reaching for Alex’s phone. Alex posed for a few pictures, then took the phone back. That had to be enough pretense to start a conversation, right?
“Are you ok?” Alex asked. “You seemed upset when you turned around.”
The boy seemed thrown off. Maybe Alex hadn’t waited the appropriate window of time after all. “I’m fine,” he said.
Alex couldn’t just leave. “Are you sure? Because if there’s something wrong--”
“I’m fine,” the boy said again, clearly not fine. Alex chose a new (slightly riskier) tactic.
“Hey… you’re in B4B, right?” they said, and the boy’s face lit up immediately.
“Yeah!” he said. “How did you know?”
“Oh, I think I remember seeing you at the convention,” Alex said. “I was trying to figure out why you looked familiar.”
“Dude, that’s awesome!” the boy said. “I’m Aaron. I love meeting fellow Bros.”
“Alex,” said Alex, relieved that their idea seemed to be working. “So are you from here?”
“Technically Jacksonville,” Aaron said. He seemed much more relaxed than he had a minute before. “I mean, Orlando now, but I’m here for Thanksgiving. You?”
“Oh, I live in Washington DC. I’m… also here for Thanksgiving. But not with my family. With my friend’s family. Who lives here. Not that I don’t want to see my family. They just don’t really celebrate Thanksgiving, that’s all.”
“Oh… that’s cool,” said Aaron. “Wait, so you came from DC for the con?”
“Yes!”
“Whoa, that’s great. I mean I knew people were traveling from everywhere but it’s so cool to hear about where everyone is from. I wish I had spent more time meeting people at the con instead of--” He stopped, and his pained expression from earlier returned. “Nevermind. So, uh, did you like the con?”
“Oh, yes, it was lovely,” Alex said, wondering what they could do to make him feel better.
“Did you get to talk to Blair?”
Alex forced themself not to laugh. “Yes, I did.”
“That was such a shock. I never expected her to show up.” Aaron was smiling, but for some reason, he didn’t seem completely happy about the surprise.
“Did you… not want her to?” Alex hoped they hadn’t ruined the convention by causing a commotion. They had just wanted to make the humans feel valued.
“Oh, no, of course I did!” said Aaron. “I was beyond thrilled to meet her, of course.”
“Aaron, are you sure you’re ok?” Alex asked again. Aaron looked at them, as if trying to decide if he could trust them. They felt a little bad knowing they had already deceived him once by pretending to be Blair, and now they were sort of doing it again. At last, Aaron sighed.
“If I tell you something, will you promise not to make fun of me?”
------
“Zoe! We did a bad thing!”
Zoe jolted out of the nice conversation she’d been having with Hera outside of the Castillo to see Alex running towards her. Trailing far behind them looking very confused was a boy who looked familiar, but she couldn’t remember where she’d seen him before.
“What are you talking about?” she asked, hoping Alex wouldn’t say anything that would severely confuse Hera.
Alex dropped to a whisper. “This boy who’s about to walk up is in love with Chad,” they said, “but he can’t do anything about it because Blair told Chad not to date.” This took Zoe a second to process, but then she realized that this had been the boy who was in the room when Alex talked to Chad at the con. She remembered his reaction to Chad’s no-romance declaration and realized she had misinterpreted it. He wasn’t dating the girl, he was wishing he could date Chad. And Alex had inadvertently come in the middle.
“Alex? What’s going on?” the boy said, finally catching up to them.
“Aaron, this is my friend Zoe,” Alex said.
“Wait, you were at the con too! Aren’t you Blair’s assistant?”
Zoe snorted. “I guess you could say that,” she said, shooting a look to Hera that she hoped conveyed ‘I’m sorry about all this and I’ll explain later’. Hera shrugged in reply.
“Oh,” Alex said, probably just realizing Hera was there, “and this is… uh--”
“Hera.” said Zoe. “Not that Hera,” she added quickly, before Alex could say anything.
Aaron rounded on Alex. “Wait, so does this mean you know Blair?”
“What about me?”
Zoe turned. Blair had appeared behind them holding ice cream. She glanced at Hera, who was now eyeing Blair with the same strange intensity from the first time they had met at the froyo shop. Zoe told herself it didn’t mean anything, after all, they had just been getting along so well--
“Blair!” Aaron cried. “You’re here!”
“Do I know you?” Blair asked.
“Aaron Milverton. We met at the B4B convention,” Aaron said. “It’s fine if you don’t remember, I know you must’ve met so many of us.”
Blair glared first at Zoe, then Alex. “Ah. Yes.”
“She remembers,” Alex said, giving her a pointed look. “She’s very happy to see you again, right Blair?”
Blair narrowed her eyes. “Yes, I am,” she said finally. Aaron beamed.
“I should maybe… go…” said Hera, piping up at last.
“No!” said Zoe, too loudly. “I mean,” she amended, “I can explain. Please don’t go.” She was not about to let Hera leave again without at least getting her number this time. “Um, you’ve met Aaron, and these are my friends Blair and Alex.”
“I remember you,” Hera said to Blair. “Nice to meet you, Alex.” Oh, of course she only recognized Blair. Alex had been in a different human form at the froyo shop.
Zoe cleared her throat (because Hera was looking at Blair again). “Anyway, so…” She paused, formulating a true-but-not-overwhelming explanation in her head. “Blair started a charity organization a few years ago and Aaron is one of the members.”
“Religion,” Blair corrected. “And I didn’t start it, Chad did.” Zoe sighed. There was no uncomplicated explanation.
“Right, yeah,” she said. “And then Blair found out that Chad had sworn off dating for her, and she told him to keep it up but she only did that to validate his decisions, not because she actually cares whether he dates or not.”
“Is that true??” Aaron asked.
Zoe looked at Blair. Please just go with it, she thought. “I don’t care if anyone dates or not,” Blair said. Good enough.
“Where’s Chad?” Zoe asked. “We have to tell him.”
“Probably the Miami airport by now,” Aaron said. “He was on his way to his family’s house.”
“Then I guess we’re driving to Miami,” Zoe said, resolved. She had helped screw this up, she was going to fix it.
“What??” said Aaron.
“I think this is something we have to resolve in person,” Zoe said. And then, before anyone could protest, she started walking. “My van has plenty of room, let’s go.”
Hera walked next to her as Alex, Blair, and Aaron trailed behind. “Sorry about this,” Zoe said. “I wish we could keep hanging out.”
“I mean, I’m down for a road trip,” Hera said, and Zoe looked at her. “If you don’t mind, of course.”
“Not at all,” Zoe said, trying not to think about how she would keep Hera from getting scared off after 5 or 6 hours in a car with Blair and Alex.
When they reached Zoe’s minivan several minutes later, Hera seemed surprised. “This is your car?” she asked.
“I know it’s kind of a mom car,” Zoe said. “It used to be my mom’s, actually. Which is kind of weird because it’s only ever been the two of us, but it’s good for road trips.”
“No, no, I like it,” Hera assured her. Zoe unlocked the car and was just getting excited about the prospect of a road trip with a cute girl when Blair walked up and got into the front seat. Zoe glared at her. “Blair, let Hera sit in front.”
“I will not,” said Blair, and buckled the seat belt. Alex climbed into the middle row, and Hera and Aaron crawled to the back seat. (Zoe always kept one seat down in the middle, because she thought it made the car feel bigger.)
“Everyone ready?” Zoe asked. “Everyone texted their parents so they don’t think I’ve kidnapped you?” No one said anything, so she started the car. “Okay, Miami here we come!”
With all the holiday traffic, it was almost midnight by the time they got to Chad’s house. Aaron had initially been worried about finding it, but Blair assured him that it wouldn’t be difficult for a goddess to figure out where someone lived. Zoe still wasn’t sure how all of that worked, but she hoped Hera wasn’t paying too much attention.
“Do you think his family will be annoyed that we’re here so late?” Hera asked. They had sent Blair and Aaron up to the door by themselves.
“I don’t know, but I know Chad won’t,” Zoe said. “He really loves Blair.”
“She had better be nice to him,” Alex said. Zoe had considered sending them in as Blair again, but she wanted Blair to do it herself.
Zoe, Alex, and Hera watched from the car as Chad answered the door and his face shifted from confusion to delight. He invited Aaron and Blair inside and closed the door, leaving the three of them to wait and see what would happen.
------
Aaron knew this would be a lot for Chad to process, and he was right. Chad was shocked. “Blair! Aaron! What are you both doing here?”
“Kind of a long story,” Aaron said, impatient to get to the real reason they had come. “I sort of… ran into Blair and… found some things out.” Chad gave him a questioning look.
“Well, come in here, you can explain, he said. “The rest of my family is already asleep.” He led them through the house into a room and turned on the light. Aaron realized it was his bedroom and became overwhelmed at the thought.
“Blair has something to tell you,” he said.
Blair sighed. “Chad,” she started. “When A-- when I saw you at the convention, you said you had sworn off romance.”
“Right...” said Chad slowly, glancing at Aaron, who looked away so as not to make eye contact.
“That’s ridiculous, and I never meant to encourage it,” Blair said. “Engage in romance or don’t, I don’t care. Just don’t involve me.”
“Wait, what?” Aaron could feel Chad looking at him still, but refused to meet his eyes.
“You heard me,” said Blair. “Oh, and Chad… I suppose I appreciate what you’ve done, even if you are misguided.” Aaron was confused why she had to say this again when she had already told him at the convention that he was doing good work, but he couldn’t concentrate much on that (or anything else) given the circumstances.
“Thanks again, Blair. It means a lot,” said Chad. “Um, hey, would it be chill if I talk to Aaron alone for a few minutes?”
“By all means,” Blair said, and walked out.
It was all Aaron could do to continue breathing as Blair left the room. Breathe in, breathe out. Breathe in, breathe out.
Chad closed the door, then turned back towards Aaron. “Bro,” Chad said, “do you… did you… is there a reason you came to tell me this?”
“What do you mean?” Aaron said, even though he was pretty sure he knew. In, out. In, out.
“I mean…” Chad looked down. “Did you… why did you want me to be open to dating?” IN, OUT. IN, OUT.
Aaron didn’t know what to say. He couldn’t read Chad’s facial expression enough to know if Chad wanted him to want him to date. Kate’s voice came into his head. “I’m convinced he likes you … I don’t think you should give up.” He took a deep breath.
“Because I was hoping you might be open to dating… me,” Aaron said, closing his eyes so he wouldn’t have to see Chad’s reaction.
“Bro,” Chad said softly, and Aaron opened his eyes to see that he was smiling. Aaron loved his smile so much he wanted to scream. He froze solid as Chad stepped toward him and put a hand on his cheek. “I hoped that was why,” Chad said, and kissed him.
Aaron had thought about kissing Chad so much that now that it was actually happening, he wasn’t sure if he had fallen asleep or died and ascended to another plane of existence. He decided if he was dead, this was a pretty good way to go. He moved one hand to the back of Chad’s neck, pulling him closer.
He hadn’t kissed anyone since Sherlock. He had almost forgotten how nice it was. And Chad wasn’t using him, or lying to him, or pretending to like him. He felt a tension in his brain release that had been there since he first realized his feelings for Chad. Months of frustration melted away. Chad liked him back. Chad was kissing him, Chad’s hands were on his face, Chad’s soft hair was under his fingers.
Much too soon, Chad broke away. Aaron stared at him, unsure what to say. Chad hadn’t lowered his hands, and he was still smiling. Aaron smiled back.
“I almost un-swore off dating for you,” Chad said quietly, stroking Aaron’s cheek with his thumb.
“Mmm?” He was too dazed to formulate a full word.
“During the convention. I think I’ve liked you since then. But then Blair showed up, and I promised her...” Aaron stared at Chad’s lips. He didn’t want Chad to stop talking, but he also really just wanted to start kissing again. “And then I wasn’t going to contact you again, but I couldn’t help it,” Chad went on. “I missed emailing you. And I convinced myself we could stay friends and it wouldn’t be weird.”
“Mmm,” Aaron said again.
“But then we got lunch today,” said Chad. Was it still the same day? Aaron couldn’t believe so little time had passed. Their afternoon at Denny’s felt like it existed in a different lifetime-- one where Chad wasn’t holding his face, talking about how he had liked Aaron just as long as Aaron had liked him. “And it hit me all over again. I think if I had stayed in your car another second I would have kissed you.” He paused for a second, looking thoughtful, then smiled again. “I should have.”
“No time like the present,” said Aaron, leaning back in.
