as someone who works in the mental health field. the way some of you talk about mentally ill elderly people is absolutely atrocious and i’m going to need you to start seeing the elderly as human. that will be you one day and you’re going to wish younger folks had more compassion.

For better and for worse, [Sondheim's] is the most systematic and unsentimental mind that has ever addressed itself to the American musical—the sort of mind one might more easily imagine designing particle accelerators, or computer viruses too wily to destroy. “The first music teacher I had at Williams College was a man named Robert Barrow,” he says. “And everybody hated him because he was very dry, and I thought he was wonderful because he was very dry. And Barrow made me realize that all my romantic views of art were nonsense. I had always thought an angel came down and sat on your shoulder and whispered in your ear ‘dah-dah-dah-dum.’ Never occurred to me that art was something worked out. And suddenly it was the skies opening up. As soon as you find out what a leading tone is, you think, Oh my God. What a diatonic scale is—Oh my God! The logic of it. And, of course, what that meant to me was: Well, I can do that. Because you just don’t know. You think it’s a talent, you think you’re born with this thing. What I’ve found and what I believe is that everybody is talented. It’s just that some people get it developed and some don’t.”
(x) on the one hand, it's unbelievably funny that sondheim is like, "everyone would be thrilled to learn about leading tones and diatonic scales. the fact that i felt this way about them has nothing to do with me having any kind of talent. this is just the normal way for people to respond." but on the other hand i truly love so much knowing that one of the great creative luminaries of his century agreed with me that Teaching People Stuff Is Good Actually.

Chara unironically did nothing wrong. Y'all are just victim blamers
Nearly all your faves are attempted child murderers AT BEST. Meanwhile sans chose to let a child die repeatedly and then joked about it to their face.
But no the suicidal child who internalised harmful lessons is the real villain

not to excuse the literal caving in of another man's head but I'm just saying criston's every action in ep 5 makes 10x more sense if you view it as him traumatised by being raped and unable to even comprehend that he was because I highly doubt westeros believes women are capable of raping men when most people in our modern world don't

Rory: a character raised in a working-class environment on a working-class budget, but has wealthy family members who are increasingly involved in her life and education, leaving her struggling to figure out which "world" she belongs in and feeling awkwardly strung between both
The Fans: "Ugh, Rory is so out of touch and entitled! She needs to acknowledge her privilege!" 😒
Paris: a character raised in the upper class only interacting with other upper class people, who always went to the best schools and expected to get into the best colleges, finds out that her parents just lost their money (a temporary setback, given her New York brownstone HOUSE in the Revival) and immediately starts saying that she "never understood what Karl Marx was yammering on about" but thinks it's "obvious" now that she thinks it affects her personally
The Fans: "YES, Paris! She's the best and I always knew she'd be enlightened enough to agree with Karl Marx!" 🥰

Are people really that negative about scrooge being hot? I know I made a joke like 'lol who decided to make him a dilf' but I think its hilarious and awesome. I'm sorry you have to deal with idiots in the tags being so negative, some people really cant just enjoy things lol
I stand by my statement that whoever in that boardroom said "but what if scrooge was hot" deserves a raise (and totally not because I have a thing for peter cushing and thats what he looks like) thank you for your service making those gifs they are lovely and very well done
Honestly, I know when I take a step back and breathe, it's not the case at all. Loads of people actually do like the movie (because they know how to enjoy themselves and know how to separate real life from fiction, thankfully), it's just really annoying being on a site like this where you KNOW how certain people can be like and having to see that kind of behaviour ad nauseum (especially when you're the OP). It makes me really tilt my head and bawk at certain people's incapacity for basic critical thinking (and on the opposite end, thinking WAY too hard) that, honestly, all I can do at the end of the day is throw my hands up in the air and just use the block button. I literally have no patience for these people anymore... I'm just going to focus on making myself and others who I know are enjoying the movie, happy ✨✨✨✨ Also, thanks very much for the message 👍👍

Ugh, I can’t believe I have to say this, but Harry styles is not queerbaiting. He is publicly unlabeled, has talked about being unlabeled/ some form of queer and he doesn’t need to label himself or come out bc once again he is a human person entitled to privacy and to experiment with his own self expression. And not that this should be a qualifier for respecting that, but also the accusation that he’s ‘profiting off of appearing queer without any of the risks’ is just plain wrong. He wore a dress in a magazine and was the center of a whole storm of backlash from Fox News and the conservative media cycle. You don’t have to like him. You can think his outfits are ugly. You can criticize the things he says about being queer. Hell, I do all of those things. But he is not queerbaiting. There’s a problem with acting like he is doing some revolutionary things when he’s not, and with him acting like a spokesperson for the queer experience when he’s not. But once again, real people cannot queerbait, and despite being a public person he is absolutely entitled to his own journey and his own relationship with queerness.

Deangirls when talking about Jump the Shark like “ummm I know it’s all John’s fault but Dean was sad so he’s Right in treating Adam like shit” as if it wasn’t the ghoul saying all of that to fuck with their heads. Plus Adam was, you know, a kid and therefore not responsible for anything (vs Dean being a grown ass man) AND ALSO DEAD BECAUSE HE’D ALREADY BEEN EATEN ALIVE YOU ASSHOLES
