POWER RANGERS re-write!

Let’s scrap the recent Power Rangers, it had its moments, but overall it was bland and flawed. Gonna add a bunch of stuff from the TV series, mainly characters and a lighter tone and look while keeping what worked e.g the actors and character dynamics.

Act 1

A shock-wave from space awakens a ship laying beneath the surface of the moon, a deep dark voice awakens Rita Repulsa and her minions - On earth, Angel Grove, we see an average day of high school for Jason, Kimberley, Billy, Trinni and Zack. Boring and monotonous, they all see a flyer for a new venue opening up in town, trying to get away from the everyday Small town crowds (Bulk and Skull being 2 of them, a pair of wankers who act like dicks) they all meet while checking out the juice bar/gym. They all show off a little, everyone has a talent for something and start a friendship group through recognizing the similarities and differences in each other - Deep under Angel Grove, Alpha 5 in another buried space ship detects Rita’s ship reawakening. Zordon tells him to use the vastly advanced ship to find 5 individuals to become the new Power Rangers and stop Rita.

Act 2

Rita instructs Goldar and some of her minions, Putties, to travel down to earth and search for the Zeo crystal,  the object Zordon and Rita both journeyed to earth to find. (The Zeo Crystal is an object of immense power and can distribute possible endless power, Rita wants it to impress a Galactic villain Lord Z, Zordon wants it to build up an army of warriors to stop Lord Z.) Alpha 5 sends out the power coins for the teenagers to find. They each find them in their own ways and experience a sort of trail process, they are all faced with challenges within the coins (a kind of out of body experience type thing) They all eventually prove themselves worthy to the coins, and are transported to the Command Center, Zordon congratulates them on passing their tests and asks them to become the power rangers. They initially turn him down, which Zordon accepts, he does allow them to keep the power coins however. As they leave the command center uniquely camouflaged as a mountain, they see Goldar and the putties attacking a local mining crew, believing they have found the Zeo Crystal, the teens decide they aren't going to let innocent people die, they jump into action, using the unique powers the coins have given them. Defeating the putties they take on Goldar, who is far more deadly, he wipes the floor with them and goes to behead Billy, Jason however in a massive surge of loyalty and courage morphs and fights Goldar with the Red Ranger power sword. Goldar flees back to the moon, and the teens are left to take in all that's happened.

Act 3

They all return to the command center and begin training, they all learn of the weapons they possess including the specific weapons for each can wield and the Zords. While Rita and Goldar use their slightly damaged ship to build more putties and some unique monsters using dna samples of their evil colleagues (who were destroyed by Zordon on their battle to earth) and shards of the Green power coin in Rita’s possession, being a former Power Ranger turned villain. The monsters being terrorizing Angel Grove, the Rangers go to face them together, they morph and fight throughout the town. They each defeat the monsters and are weary, Rita and Goldar arrive having located the Zeo Crystal buried deep beneath the town make the fallen monsters grow using the green power coin, they then begin to destroy the town and dig for the crystal. The Rangers call on the Zords and fight the much larger versions of the monster they just defeated. They are this time defeated and in the final minute as the monsters reach the Zeo crystal, the Rangers form the Megazord and destroy the monsters by throwing them and the zeo crystal into space. They shoot the zeo crystal which destroys the monsters and the crystal. Returning to earth victorious, they capture Goldar but Rita escapes back her ship on the moon, defeated - Having saved Angel Grove, the Power Rangers become worldwide heroes. The teenagers return to normal life with a new sense or purpose.

Pre Credits scene - Having been defeated, she is contacted by Lord Z and is ordered to destroy the Power Rangers and capture Zordon before he arrives. She tells him of her defeat and he instructs to give away her precious Power Coin and corrupt a human being to destroy the rangers, she uses her ship as Zordon used his to find a human capable of darkness, the ship finds Tommy Oliver.

Post credits scene - Alpha recovers a shard of the Zeo crystal and brings it back to Zordon, who begins to design new rangers for his army to fight Lord Z.

I could never really describe through words my vision of a Power Rangers movie, but that would be a basic structure. All the things that you would look for in a great film, like character goals and progression, inter character disputes and understandings would of course be thought about. But making it a bit more in line with the original TV series would have defiantly made a Power Ranger more memorable, less forgettable like the one that we got. Visually it would pretty much be a 50/50 with the original series and the movie we got. Kinda slicker and more intricate but keeping some big bold elements.

Top 5 Things We Expect to See in The Power Rangers Movie! So the power Ranger movie is right around the corner. I'm excited,  people are excited and the power Ranger world is buzzing right now. With the release of the movie a little more than a month away, people are pre-ordering their tickets and getting ready for the most  MORPHINOMONIAL movie 2017 has to offer. So we here at Heroic Studios are listing off the Top 5 Things We Expect to See in the Power Rangers Movie. 5. Zords   When it was first annouced, most people weren't worried about the suits, zordon, or even Rita, they wanted to see the zords. We all know the super awesome mechanized assault vehicles that could combine in the megazord, and use the power sword to defeat evil....everytime. Every generation of Power Rangers has one. I suppose the producers waited until the last moment to reveal the zords. Most fans thought the zords wouldnt make it into this film but what's a power Ranger movie without zords. So far, they look dope to me, the Megazord on the other hand....let's just say I'm reserving judgment on that part. 4 Goldar Yes, that's right, Rita's right hand man. It was revealed during the Second Trailer that Rita will be looking to revive her golden comrade all throughout the movie and he will be the giant monster that tramples over everything. This incarnation of Goldar seems to be VASTLY different from the version of the original power rangers show and the sentai series. We still don't know if he can talk, or if this incarnation of him is just a variation of his form....because he looks like a giant golden candle melting....no really, he does. 3. Other Power Ranger Easter Eggs Most fans are confused as the involvement of the Zeo Crystal has been mentioned, alluding to the Zeo Power Rangers possibly coming full circle later on. Saban and Lionsgate have already confirmed that there will be AT LEAST 5 movies. So who's to say they won't throw some other characters in there like Rocky, Aisha or even Adam in the mix for fans to geek out over. Hey, I'm just saying! 2. Bulk and Skull And whats a Power Ranger adventure without these two idiots, right? All their shinnenagans are what literally feed the the comedy portion of the show. Always trying to learn the identity of the Power Rangers through various means, which usually ends up being a disaster. There hasn't been any confirmation that anyone was cast as the comedic duo. But hints in the trailers do suggest to a bully, very possibly being Bulk, and if you remember correctly, Bulk and Skull originally started off as bullies. It would be really awesome to see them pop up once or twice during the movie. 1. Tommy, and the Green Ranger Powers Not Tommy as in Jason David Frank ( the original actor but it was hinted he may make a cameo), but Tommy as the character. Okay, so we all know that Rita was the green ranger who went rogue. So we all know how the movie will end. She's defeated by the power rangers but as a strike back plan, she finds a teenager with attitude for own her and gives him her Green Ranger Power (duh, don't act like that's not how it's going to go down!) But as far as the actor who will play Tommy is a complete mystery. No one has been cast, or at least we don't know who it could be. My thoughts is Lionsgate is leaving it as a surprise as a possible post credit scene or maybe an Easter egg. But I mean come on, how can you have a Power Ranger movie without the most iconic Ranger of all time? That's right, you can't. And fans are already speculating that a post credit scene is definite! Of course, the second movie will possibly be the Green with Evil plot, or it has better be. What do you expect to see in the movie? Let us know in the comment section below! Well there you go. Thoughts on Ninja Steel Episode 2. SPOILERS AHEAD.

Ways to establish relationships in Power Rangers; just outright say, ‘I’m your girlfriend’ so the kiddies don’t get confused.

All joking aside, I like how a) for once we have a pre-existing romantic relationship on the show instead of them getting together towards the end and b) it’s another mixed race canon couple.

Speaking of whom, what exactly were Calvin and Hayley doing outside of school hours anyway?

So in PR universe any kind of weapon that come into contact with each other, they make laser sounds. Even if said weapon is space junk. Ah, weird censorship in PR. 

“Teenagers! The earth is infested with them, like cockroaches.” You’ll fit in nicely with the Baby Boomers, Galvanax.

I like Mick. Mick is a pretty cool side character.

Redbot is a precious robot and I love them.

Actually, I enjoy most of the side characters, even the jock and geek characters. They’re no Bulk and Skull but they have a similar charm. The charm being I enjoy seeing their comeuppance to there snotty behaviour.

It’s out in the country, no neighbours, heck I’m sure a resourceful group of teens, a mechanic and a robot coud fix the place up so it’s more Command Centre-ish.

Having said that, I do love that Mick got a job as a teacher at the school.

“I’m finally gonna go to high school!” Welp, good luck catching up from education for an eight year old.

After a very successful launch of the Power Rangers Heroes of the Grid table top game with last year’s Phase 1 Kickstarter as well as this year’s release, Renegade Game Studios is back to bring more Ranger power to fans of Power Rangers and Tabletop Gamers alike. The second phase Kickstarter, titled Back to the Grid, features less new products than the previous one, but there are some nice bonuses and chances for those who may have missed out on things before.

Back to the Grid New Items:

Included in this Phase for the first time are the Zeo Ranger Pack, Legendary Ranger: Tommy Oliver Pack and Mega Goldar Deluxe Figure as well as the Kickstarter Exclusive Zeo Gold Character Pack.

The Zeo Ranger Pack will include Tommy Oliver/Zeo Ranger V, Adam Park/Zeo Ranger IV, Rocky DeSantos/Zeo Ranger III, Tanya Sloan/Zeo Ranger II, Kat Hillard/Zeo Ranger I miniatures. Each Ranger comes with 10 Combat Cards, a Character Card and a Zord Card. As a bonus in the pack, a Zeo Megazord Card is included. The set is listed as a $40 pledge that includes the Zeo Gold Pack. This set should also be releasing to retail next year but that price is unknown at this time.

The Legendary Ranger: Tommy Oliver Pack includes five different versions of Tommy Oliver with four playable Rangers as well as one Monster. The set includes Mighty Morphin Green Ranger and Mighty Morphin White Ranger which previously appeared in the Kickstarter Phase 1 Deluxe Box but this pack seems to feature new sculpts for both miniatures. The Character and Zord cards shown are the same as the previous release however. Dino Thunder Black Ranger and Turbo Red Ranger are brand-new and include 10 Combat Cards, 1 Character Card and 1 Zord Card each. Interestingly, Turbo Red‘s Zord card is shown as Lightning Cruiser instead of the Red Lightning Turbo Zord. This may mean that Red Lightning could appear later on in another expansion down the road. The final part of this pack is the Evil Robot Tommy Monster. Based on its appearance in the Dimensions in Danger episode of Power Rangers Super Ninja Steel, the Evil Robot Tommy miniature is packed with 1 Deployment Card and 8 Monster Cards. Just like the Zeo Ranger Pack, this set is a $40 pledge that also includes Zeo Gold Character Pack.

The final retail item that is releasing early via Kickstarter, is the Mega Goldar Deluxe Figure. Much like Phase 1’s Cyclopsis Deluxe Figure, Mega Goldar includes not only the large miniature himself but also a Deployment Card, 6 Component Cards as well as presumably 6 Combat Cards. This allows Mega Goldar to act as a Boss in the game that is Megazord sized. Just like with the previous two items, Mega Goldar is a $40 pledge that also includes the Zeo Gold Character Pack. 

After mentioning it three times now, we finally reached the Kickstarter Phase 2 exclusive, the Zeo Gold Character Pack. This pack only available through this campaign includes the Zeo Gold Miniature, 10 Combat Cards, a Double-Sided Character Card featuring Trey of Triforia and Jason Lee Scott (who have different effects), the Pyramidas Zord Card as well as 4 special combat dice. As something that’s included with any of the Pledge tiers, this is certainly a worthy incentive to pick-up items via the campaign.

Several pledge tiers are available including a Zeo Master tier containing all the new items and a Mega Morphin Master tier containing everything from Phase 1 and Phase 2. Also available as add-ons is the Bulk and Skull Character Pack that was previously released at conventions and Renegade Games’ website and the Phase 1 Kickstarter Exclusive Deluxe Box. 

The campaign runs from September 17 to October 1, 2019. All items are scheduled to ship in March 2020 worldwide. The funding goal was originally $25,000, however the campaign was successfully funded in less than 10 minutes making this act as an extended pre-order for those wanting to join in.

Today, Bandai Candy revealed the official information regarding the next Super Sentai Super Mini-Pla release; the release is for none other than Galaxy Mega and Delta Mega from Denji Sentai Megaranger. The two will be sold together, as a set rather than being sold separate as some collectors expected. Power Rangers fans will easily recognize these mechas as the Astro Megaship/ Megazord and the Delta Megazord from Power Rangers in Space. In addition, both sets will be able to combine to form Super Galaxy Mega/ Astro Delta Megazord. Below is the official gallery from Bandai Candy:

Pre-orders for the Super Mini-Pla Galaxy Mega & Delta Mega Set are set to open tomorrow, October 1st. The set will be sold at retail, but Premium Bandai opened their listings for the set early. Premium Bandai and retailers (like our sponsor, CS Toys International) will be selling the Super Mini-Pla Galaxy Mega & Delta Mega Set for roughly 6912 yen, with its release set for Janurary 2019. Denji Sentai Megaranger is currently available in North America on DVD via Shout! Factory; the complete series was released on home video last October.
