Nine People You'd Like to Know Better
Tagged by @thana-topsy, thank you!!
3 Ships
Yyra Denirien x Teldryn Sero (OC x Elder Scrolls) - If you're following me and you don't know this... you must scroll tumblr with your eyes closed or something lmao. They are INCESSANTLY in my head 24/7/365. They are both so broken but trying their best and the most important aspect is that (in my canon story) their friendship happens FIRST and is MOST important before anything else occurs between them. I know all the smut I draw says otherwise, but I draw the smut because my main story is so slow-burn hahahaha.
FemShep x Garrus Vakarian (Mass Effect) - I went hard for this one... it's almost like there's something about red-headed strong-willed women with snarky, non-human mercenaries with distinctive voices that just does it for me...
Jude x Cardan (The Folk of the Air series) - Despite the fact these are "young adult" books, holy shit did they do something for me. Also 100000% better than any published erotica I've ever read AND a fantastic example of enemies-to-lovers. Anyways, I finished the main trilogy recently and these two have been rotating on a smaller platform in the background while Yyra and Teldryn continue to rotate in the foreground lol.
I HAVE TO ADD ONE MORE, SORRY, I'M BREAKING RULES BUT NIKAIDO x KAIMAN (DOROHEDORO) HAS TO BE INCLUDED TOO, I am obsessed
First Ship
I have such a hard time remembering stuff from my early life, but technically the first pairing of people that I fixated on (though this would be way before "shipping" was a thing I knew about) was Aerith x Sephiroth (despite how that canonically goes lol, but i guess i've always loved saying fuck canon).
Last Song
"Magia" by Kalafina - Despite almost never watching anime, I binged Puella Magi Madoka Magica in one day (it's only 12 episodes) and holy cow that fucking show what the fuck. Anyways, the end credit song rocks and this is it.
Currently Reading
Inside of a Dog by Alexandra Horowitz
Attack of the 50 Foot Blockchain by David Gerard
I recommend both of these so far, but I'm also only partially through them because I always take a thousand years to read nonfiction.
Last Film
Dearest Sister (2016) - It's weird if I'm not watching at least one horror film in the past week, but this was actually two weeks ago? I think I need to re-watch it, but I thought it was pretty good!
Currently Craving
I was craving salted nori today but I do actually have some and so I had it a few hours ago. Right now I'm not really craving anything! I guess this question is more about creative works but as usual, I go with food haha.
I tag: @downontheupside @mishikaiya @ocheeva @dontiform @perilously @fliinnie @orfeolookback @bendingsignpost @drowsy-fantasy

The way people here celebrate the ides of march kind of has a reminiscent energy as purim, which I think highlights an important aspect of the human condition. In this essay

i really like how chapter 23 is titled in Japanese. in English, it's simply "Stargazing with A Free Spirit" but in Japanese, it's called "満天を頂に叶えるは空の願い".
i'm struggling to translate and word it beautifully in English but it's roughly around the line of: What Grants [You] a Sky [Full of Stars] at the Summit was A Wish Upon the Sky or Wish Upon the Sky Blessing You with A Sky [Full of Stars] at the Summit
(i know it's kind of a mouthful / repetitive 😅 sorry, i still have a lot to learn)
why i like it? because of how they made it into a wordplay of Towa's name. Towa's given name is written as 叶空 in Japanese and as you can see here, it's incorporated in the title. i just think it's neat! especially when it's a chapter focusing on him. c:
funfact: Towa's name is written as 叶空 (叶 = to grant / fulfill, 空 = sky) but "towa" is also another way to read the word 永遠 (eternity / everlasting / forever, etc)!

You know the fact Larian did have "fucked up elves" in their creative vision once shows that they can and want to do it, so I'm wondering why BG3 elves look like humans with pointy ears and half-elves like humans with slightly less pointy ears. Like, was WotC threatening them with a gun like "If you make these elves even slightly 3e we will kill you and your entire family."?

opinions on Preston Garvey (this answer will decide whether or not I continue to follow you/j)
I love Preston!!!
I understand that the radiant quest for the Minutemen are annoying and repetitive but they’re honestly such a small thing compared to the fun major quest and not timed at all. The defense quest that pop up are annoying but Preston doesn’t assign those to you so I don’t get why he get blamed for those.
I think a lot of animosity for him comes from multiple poor story arcs and meta issues. Preston’s arc is kinda hard to see. He has depression was suicidal and he as ready to quit right before the Sole Survivor showed up and saved what remained of the Minutemen. His entire arc follows him as he rebuilds his belief in a peaceful Commonwealth with the help of the player and people forget that.
He started at a low and then someone highly capable and eager came to lend a hand. He admits he’s not cut out to lead and that while he can direct a settlement he’s no good at a bigger picture. It’s to give the player more agency with the Minutemen of course, but people call him lazy for it or inconsiderate to the Sole Survivor who agrees to help.
Preston isn’t the most engaging story wise of the campaign but I find him one of the most social able companions. He’s very polite and witty and I honest can understand why people have such a gripe with him? Part of me noticed that of all the companions the only two I didn’t know were companion options going into the game were Preston and X6-88… the only black options.
It sounds like a stretch but it’s far too common in fandoms and franchises like Fallout that people are overly critical and hateful or dismissive of black characters. The railroad and institute give you annoying radiant quests when you meet them as well and I didn’t even know that as so little people complain about them when they feel a lot more restrictive than Preston’s.
I all in all think his character isn’t that deep when it comes to understanding and comprehending his story but he’s still a rich character and I will defend him and his reputation with my life!!!

Just finished watching Wendigoon's video about Hisashi Ouchi and had a terrible, awful, no-good DP prompt idea come into my head. Come suffer with me.
So the Fentons constantly threaten to tear ghosts apart "molecule by molecule" right? What if they managed to make an anti-ghost weapon that made good on that threat? One that tore apart ghostly DNA or ectoplasm, and just straight-up turned any ghost hit by it into green goop, melted within seconds like Danny's clones?
So I imagine that at some point after destroying a couple of ghosts with this new weapon, Jack and Maddie finally manage to corner Phantom somehow. Terrified, Danny is left with no choice but to try to explain who and what he is, hoping to all the Ancients that it will be enough to stop them from hurting him.
Unfortunately for him, the Fentons don't really listen at first and shoot him point blank.
Danny puts his arms up to protect himself and closes his eyes, trembling in abject fear, imagining himself melting away into a pile of goop right in front of his parents. He desperately hopes it's quick and painless. He waits for the end.
...and waits
... and waits
The Fentons and Danny both feel shocked, but Danny eventually laughs (a bit hysterically) and continues explaining his accident, intensely relieved that his half-human nature had protected him from this weapon.
Once he explains everything, the Fentons apologize with tears in their eyes for how they had treated him. They accept him for who he is, and promise to do their best to learn more about ghosts' true natures. They decide to use their inventions in an actually scientific, ethical way, to learn more about this culture and people. Danny and Jazz are both ecstatic. Everything seems perfect. Sure, Danny might have thrown up and passed out the minute they got home from that little talk, and sure, his skin turned a bit red and painful where he got hit, but that was the extent of it, right? His human half purged the effects of the weapon from his body, no harm no foul.
But they all forget that while Danny's DNA is half human, it is also half ghostly in nature, and the weapon just tore through those parts of him like bullets through paper.
A week later, Danny's skin starts to feel like it's burning

What's crazy about Damian becoming a (non-human) animal lover is that it always comes with a version of Ra's that doesn't care for (non-human) animals. Because if you kept Ra's wanting to protect the animal kingdom (besides humans), then it would just make Damian look even worse for not caring about (non-human) animals in the first place lol.

Spoiler Warning for the webcomic Aurora
WOW today's page gave us a lot 🤩
What it showed abt Tarren:
They're a water mage
Disability comes from water corruption (also confirmed on Tumblr a few days ago)
Implied: they seem to have a tendency toward working themself too hard, & it's in some way related to their chronic water corruption
They originally weren't inclined toward getting Sealed, but recently found out they channel elemental corruption in their sleep. They decided to get the procedure done, and seem content with their decision.
What it showed abt magic, & Tarren & Erin's tattoos
The tattoo process they (plural) did seems to be a magimedical process that affects a mage's magic soul channels, and is used (whether primarily or as one reason out of multiple) to prevent elemental corruption by preventing accidental channelling
The process is an option for other mages, & it's called being "Sealed"
Water corruption specifically affects, or can affect, someone's mobility (according to Red, Tarren's elemental corruption resulted in joint problems)
Something I noticed/personal theories:
Tarren also touched their (singular) tattoos before casting, similar to how Erin does. This implies that touching the tattoo in order to cast is either common or necessary (I posed a theory abt that a while back, likely it's either a common need/technique, or physically necessary to cast) (EDIT: Red talked about it here)
The process is called being "Sealed". When Tess was being chased by Shrike, the latter used what Tess called a "sealing cuff". Related? Possibly using the same kind of sealing, but with the tattoos still giving the ability to cast while the cuffs restrict it entirely? (EDIT: again, Red talked abt it here)
Aurora theorists (like me) have been fed well today :)

TES still microwaves my brain constantly just haven't had a "main" char to focus on rn other than my current Yazara play thru. But while hanging around Markarth I've been thinking about making a Forsworn character. I'd really like to explore that part of the lore more and perhaps use it as an opportunity to rewrite and redesign the reachmen to be well.. less... ya know. Because I find them suuuper interesting and a part of elder scrolls and esp skyrim lore that could be so unique and interesting if actually given some time and thought.
My main thoughts abt what i'd do with them are;
Have their culture and appearance focus more on their connection to hagravens, folk magic and old pre-imperial gods.
Perhaps they wear primarily leather and animal hide because of bosmeri influence? (during the merethic era)
ehh thats all i got so far
im thinking for the oc i have in mind, maybe the daughter of a hagraven or witch who's invested in the politics of the reachmen issue. Also thought maybe could make a good LDB character, but idk if i wanna have two LDB as i would have to juggle different timelines. i feel like she would make a good adopted daughter of my ldb tho so maybe could do smth with that?
edit: for the record i havent read up on ESO's interpretation of reachmen yet, just going off what ive read/seen in skyrim. it'll be taken into account lol
