Dc x dp idea 14
I always pictured Danny as liking galas. Not cause he enjoys the atmosphere but because he can cause subtle chaos. Then one time it’s not subtle at all.
Jack forces Danny to go events with Vlad. Danny just makes subtle remarks to Vlads peers about his bad practices.
Hinting towards how his wealth was massed odly and suddenly. Pointing out things that just went missing and suddenly one day Vlad just had. Overall each event he goes to Vlad looks worse and worse.
Danny has hinted to him being forced to be at event. That he doesn’t like being called little badger. He’s also getting the inside scope on new tech and ideas by playing dumb. Tucker is taking advantage of the inside info.
So there is a huge gala going to happen in Gotham. The masons and vlad are both going to be in attendance. Obviously this means Danny is getting forced into it same as Sam.
Now sam openly causes problems at the gala. Like standing on a table screaming about animal rights or something. She’s an activist she would so do it. Just imagine Damian joining in. He doesn’t like the galas either after all.
Both sam and danny snuck in reporters. Danny did it to ensure sam would never have to go to another gala. He could use them for his fun as well.
Dick is on a chandelier now to add more chaos. Jason is having the time of his life watching it all unfold.
So Danny just “unknowingly” talking to the reporters about vlad. He also starts talking about the masons. Vlad got distracted talking to another rich person he was planning to rob.
Tim assumes Danny doesn’t know he’s talking bad mouthing ti reporters and goes up to him. Danny is just like dude let me trash talk the fruitloop. When Tim subtle pulls him off to the side.
Danny “accidentally” reveals that vlad is trying to kill his father, marry his mom and adopt him. He is so used to people not believing him why would this rando.
So on top of making a gala a madhouse now the bats are investigating Vlad. Not that Danny realizes until the bats show up in amity.

Fictober23 Prompt: 9 - "I wouldn't do that if I were you."
Fandom: DPxDC
Rating: T
Warnings: Red Hood's swearing, mention of character death
Danny blinked a couple of times before he realized what exactly happened. He had been with Alfred making some cookies for the rest of the family after Oracle had reported they would all come back uninjured. And Danny had decided to help Alfred in hopes to get back on Damian's good side. The boy had been pretty short and huffy with him ever since Danny had admitted that he didn't plan on getting reinstated as hero.
The rest of the family had taken it sort or well, sure there were the occasional side comments in hopes to maybe convince him to come on patrol with one of them every now and then but otherwise his decision was greatly accepted. Alfred had appeared especially happy when Danny had announced that after having lived with the Waynes for little more than a year now.
Of course Phantom would still come out to help if his ghostly rogues decided to show up and pester his new family or Lady Gotham needed help with something or when Lazarus Pits were involved. But this certainly did not include a situation like that.
Looking down at his gloved hands, Danny breathed out a sigh of relief, noting that he had gotten summoned as Phantom at least. Pretransfomred. Last time he got summoned and had appeared shortly as plain old Danny before changing into Phantom, Tim, as Red Robin of course, had gaslighted the cultists into believing they hallucinated seeing Daniel 'Danny' Fenton-Wayne for a brief moment. The press still had a field day with the nonsense the arrested cultist spouted.
At least now they wouldn't have to deal with another media drama that could result in Vlad trying to fight Bruce for custody again. Still, Danny frowned, they had summoned him right out of a late night baking session with Alfred and knowing his family the way he does now it was only a matter of time before they all stormed this place or at least some of them.
Bruce had put a tracker on him specifically for this kind of situation, aside from the fact that he was also still pestering the Justice League Dark to find a way to stop it from happening in the first place.
"You do realize that you are in deep shit right?" The occult leader looked at Danny for only a short moment before continuing his spiel about how with the power of the summoned they would lead the world back to the balance it's supposed to have and bla bla bla. Being the Ancient of Balance Danny never thought he would even get summoned, aren't cultists in books more interested in evil demons, masters of chaos, Cthulhu and so on?
Knocking with his fist against the barrier lightly, the halfa noted that he would probably be stuck in place until his family showed up to disturb the chalk writing on the floor. For a moment he wondered if he should attempt to break out but then remembered the lecture Bruce had made him sit through the first time he broke a magical barrier and got injured in the process. It was probably better to wait.
"You know the last time I got summoned out of family time, one of my brothers went apeshit on the cultists." Danny continued to interrupt the leader's speech, just to be a little shit. He needed to pass the time somehow. Plus he wasn't lying. He had gotten summoned right out of movie night with his siblings, it's no understatement to say that they were not amused. Jason was especially pissed for some reason. "And the time before that it was my younger brother, that was a whole lot more bloody but no one died anyway in the end.
"Silence spirit of balance, you will listen to me. I was the one that summoned you."
"Yea… buddy that's not how this whole summoning thing actually works. You read a couple of fictional books." Danny retorted until he saw what the leader pulled out and flinched back.
How was that possible? Danny was sure that after his parents death, Bruce had bought all the rights of Fenton Works, including the patents and put it all in Danny's name no matter how much some tried to fight it. If it wasn't willed to Danny then Bruce had bought it. They had stopped any production of his parents' inventions, they had forced the GIW to cough up all the inventions they bought and then disband the governmental organization through the Justice League.
Of course Danny had known that some of his parents inventions were still on the black market and then there were also Vlads inventions but, the cult leader was holding up a Fenton bracelet Danny had specifically created for his brother to help him control the corrupted ectoplasm in his system until his treatment with Frostbite was done. How was it possible for them to get a hold of it? No wait it looked slightly modified from the one he made for his brother.
"This will make you listen to me." Danny's eye widened as he noticed a shard of a very familiar red crystal embedded in the bracelet when the leader waved it around triumphantly at Danny's reaction. It wasn't enough to brainwash him by simply holding it to his face but if he made direct contact with it? Danny wasn't so sure.
"How did you get that!"
"Oh not so mouthy anymore are we?"
His core quivered and all his eyes could do was focus on the red shiny stone as flashback ran through his mind as he pressed as far away from the leader as he could. His back hit the other end of the barrier he was in and Danny contemplated breaking the barrier and high speed flying home to the Wayne manor even if it risked injury.
"I wouldn't do that if I were you." The calm but familiar voice broke Danny out of his panic as he saw a blade sneak around the leader's neck. Robin was standing right behind the man seemingly having appeared out of nowhere.
"Robin! B said to wait for his signal!" Another voice appeared and Danny heard the thud next to him with the flutter of a cape. Relieved, he turned his head ever so slightly to find Red Robin next to the barrier, looking unimpressed at the fact that Robin, from the looks of it, had run ahead of them once again.
Robin clicked his tongue and Danny finally relaxed enough to snicker at his siblings' banter. Before he could add in his own two cents to the banter a window crashed in and Red Hood added himself to the rescue party.
"Can't any of you follow a fucking plan?" The man announced his presence loudly while also landing boot first on some random cultist members. That instantly scattered, their stunned frozeness, caused by their leader getting held at blade point, broken now.
"You're one to talk. Since when do you simply follow B's plans anyway?" Red Robin huffed back, taking the bracelet from the leader as well as destroying the barrier seal with his boot by smudging the chalk writing.
"Point taken." The other answered as he started to knock out any cultist that was in his reach. Red Robin joined him once he gave Danny a look over and was certain that the barrier no longer existed.
Robin once more clicked his tongue causing Danny to look over, the leader now knocked out cold before his feed. "Phantom, you need to stop getting summoned by these incompetent…"
"Imbeciles!"
"Scoundrels!"
"Asshats!"
"Scum!"
"Fucktards!"
"Lunatics!"
"I do not require your input!" Robin shouted across the room at their older siblings that were currently giving the rest of the cult members the beat down of their life.
"Fruitloops?" Danny offered chuckling at the seething glare Robin directed at him for that and he lifted the palm of his hands in a sign of peace.

It's close to nine PM when Dick finally drops you off home.
You turn to Damian first and hold out your hand, expecting him to give you his usual handshake goodbye.
Instead, Damian pats your shoulder and gives you a nod. You blink, startled.
"Today was enjoyable," he says, holding the book about saltwater creatures that he got from the zoo. "I will inform Todd that he has chosen well."
In Damian speak, you may as well have gotten a hug and a blessing.
"Oh," you say, trying not to tear up. "Thank you, Damian. I had a good time, too. Thank you both for spending the day with me."
"This was a test," Damian says, and Dick rolls his eyes in the rear view mirror.
"Dami, stop calling it a test. It wasn't a test."
"Richard, I don't know why you insist on lying. They obviously have figured out that it was a test. In any case, they've passed, so it doesn't matter."
You hide a smile as Dick gives up and gets out of the car. He opens your door.
"I'll see you later, Damian," you say. "Good luck with your science test."
"I do not need luck," Damian replies. "But I appreciate the sentiment. Goodbye."
You follow Dick into your apartment building. You're happy; last week, you spent the day with Tim and Cassandra. The week before that, you officially met Bruce and Alfred.
Dick and Damian were the last "test," and the ones you were most nervous about. From what Jason's told you about his family, Dick and Damian, while total opposites in temperament, are extremely shrewd in their judgments of character, and not easy to please. For all that Dick is friendly and warm, you know he's studying your every move to ensure that you're a good match for his little brother. Not that you blame them; you're sure that being children of a billionaire has resulted in some awful dates.
Today was your fourth outing with Dick, and your second with Damian. At first, Damian seemed totally closed off to you, which you understood. You're his brother's partner; what twelve year old gives a shit about that?
But you feel you've made good progress today. You feel like the Wayne's really like you, and don't just tolerate you because they have to.
"Please don't listen to him," Dick says while you wait for the elevator. "Damian thinks every social interaction is a test. We're working on it."
"It's okay," you say, because it is. "I get it. I'm glad I passed."
Dick shakes his head. "It was never a matter of passing. We thought you were great the first time Jason introduced you to us."
"Dick..." You melt at that, both out of relief and fondness. Dick is probably your favorite one of Jason's brothers, after Damian, of course. He's the most sympathetic to your attempts at connecting with the family and the one who's the gentlest with you.
He smiles, all sunshine, and you're abruptly glad that Jason has a family like this one.
"Are you gonna ask him this week?" Dick asks.
You bite your lip, unable to hide your smile. "I think so. What do you think?"
"I think it's perfect. He doesn't like all that fuss. And you'll be letting him know that you want to marry just him. Not when you're dressed up, on a date, but all of him."
"I do," you say, voice thick. "I do want that, D."
He nods, eyes soft. "I know. I'll see you next week," he says. "Don't worry about the dinner, okay? You're practically family now. And I expect to see a ring!"
He pulls you into a quick hug, and you sag in relief. You did well. It's been confirmed.
"Thank you," you say softly.
The elevator doors open. Dick lets you go, and you wait for the doors to close before you go to your apartment.
"You're out late."
You jump, almost dropping your bag of zoo souvenirs. Jason is leaning against the couch, arms folded. You laugh a little, holding your chest.
"Jay, you scared me! Jeez."
You go to him and lean in for a kiss. He dodges you, slipping away to the kitchen to get a glass of water.
You blink owlishly, trying to process what just happened.
"Um," you begin. "Is everything okay?"
"So where was it this time?" Jason asks. "Escape room? Art museum? Some other place you can't be seen with me?"
"Jason, what are you talking about?"
He finally looks at you. His gaze is intense, lethal. It makes you take a step back. He turns away.
"Where'd you go today? And be honest."
"We went to the zoo, and then we went to dinner. Me, Dick, and Damian. Jay, what's this about?"
Jason looks up. His gaze is no longer lethal; now it's just melancholy.
"Are you with me to get to them?" he asks.
"Get to who?"
"The Bats. Gotham's finest. Bruce Wayne's rag-tag group of orphans he can't stop collecting."
"Are you asking me if I'm in this relationship to get to your family?" you ask, unable to keep the frustration out of your voice.
"Yes. That's exactly what I'm asking. I'm asking if you like my media-trained, not-undead family who you can actually spend time with publicly. I'm asking if you like my Boy Wonder brother, who'd probably show you a better time than I can."
"Jason Wayne, I have never cheated on you or thought about cheating on you. With Dick or anyone else," you say firmly. "Now, what's this about?"
Jason's face falls.
"You're right," he says quietly. "That was stupid 'f me to say. I know you're faithful, baby."
He won't look you in the eye now. It is reminiscent of the beginning of your relationship when Jason would retreat whenever you argued. It wasn't until you confronted him about it that you learned that he thought every argument was your last and that you'd break up with him the next day.
"Jay," you say, getting closer. "Something's obviously bothering you. Talk to me, please."
He stays quiet. You get close enough to touch him, but you don't, in case he's not ready to be touched yet.
"Why me?" he rasps.
"Why you what?"
He takes a sharp breath. "Why not them? Why me? Why d'you bother with me?"
"Jay, baby, where's this coming from? I don't bother with you, I love you. I am in a relationship with you because I want to be."
"You've hung out with them this whole month," he mumbles. "And I know we can't go out anytime 'cause I'm technically dead, but I just—I mean, we could work something out if you really wanna go. I wanna do that stuff with you too."
"Jason, no, no," you say, and reach for him. This time, he lets you pull him into a hug, and you kiss his chin. He makes a soft sound in his throat.
"Oh, honey, is that what this is about? You think I'm replacing you?"
"'S happened before," he mumbles, and you screw your face up so you won't cry at that.
"Jason, I—" You take a deep breath and release him until you're holding his hands. "Fuck me, I guess there's no time like the present."
Jason squints. "What're you—"
"I met them to ask for their blessing," you say before you can lose your nerve. "I hung out with them because I wanted to make sure they'd like me, and I should've told you, but I wanted to keep it a surprise."
"Keep what a surprise? Sweetheart, what's—"
You let go of Jason's hands and get down on one knee. Jason's eyes go wide.
"Holy fuck," he says, and you laugh wetly.
"Jaybird, we've been together for a long time, and I'm positive that you're the person I want to spend the rest of my life with. I hung out with your family this month so I could be sure that we'd get along. Because I know they're important to you, even if you have your rough patches."
"Holy fuck," Jason says again, eyes glassy.
You smile and pull out the black velvet box with the ring that Alfred had helped you choose.
"Jason Wayne, I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life with you. Will you—mmph!"
Jason is on you in an instant, and the box tumbles from your hand. He presses you to the floor and kisses you hard, his hands squeezing your waist.
"Jay, this part is supposed to come after we get married, not before," you say when he finally lets you break for air.
"What can I say? Commitment gets me hot."
You wrap your arms around his neck, comfortable under him. Jason kisses you again, softer and sweeter.
"So is that a yes?" you ask.
"It's an emphatic yes, oui, si, ja, da..."
"Okay, I get it, Bruce put you in private school," you say, rolling your eyes. Jason pinches your hip and you squeal.
He rolls you over so you're atop him.
"I'm sorry I said those things," he says. "I didn't—I know you wouldn't do that. I was just upset, but I shouldn't have accused you out of anger."
"I forgive you," you say and kiss his temple. "It's not the last fight we'll have, and if I was afraid of a few arguments, I wouldn't ask you to marry me, Jay. Thank you for communicating."
"Fuck, I love ya," he whispers, and hugs you tighter.
"Ditto!" you say, and he snorts.
"So my entire family knows I'm getting married then, huh?"
"What? No. I only told Dick."
Jason laughs. "Yeah. Everybody definitely knows."
"Jay, I didn't mean..."
"Aw, baby, no, it's okay. I never thought I'd actually make it this far, so it's really okay." He kisses your nose when you start to frown. "And I'm the first Wayne to get married for real. Suck it, B!"
"Please don't put that in your vows, Jay."
Jason grins so hard, his cheeks puff out.
"No promises, fiance."

hiii <33 could you write like a one-shot with damian priest where reader is like this diva-bratty-ish wrestler (idk if you get what i mean 😭😭 like maryse sort of) and shes always fighting with rhea ripley and tjd but damian secretly likes her? i'm sorry if this doesnt make sense 😭😭
this would be me if i had to pick up a character for wrestling , here i’ll leave you the song i listened to make this piece
damian priest x reader
Tumblr media
primadonna
the first time you got involved with the judgment day was to help liv who was against rhea, and, of course, as in classic judgment day style, non of them could help rhea without cheating so you had to do something.
the second time you got up against rhea it was way much before wrestlemania and way much before she got the title, you two had a simple match against each other that was won by her, of course, only because dom distracted the referee when you were about to win.
the third time you got involved with the judgment day was when damian and finn were having a feud do to finn’s lost at money in the bank. you weren’t supposed to do anything, you were just there, alimenting the tension. rhea didn’t like it and so she picked up a fight against you, fight that you avoided.
you weren’t a heel, but you weren’t a baby face either. you were just you and people loved you for that. it was almost like that it wasn’t even your wrestling personality because it was too easy for you. you were like a diva, the beyoncé of wrestling, like a primadonna.
you loved having attention and stealing other people lights made you happy. so that’s how you were side ring watching rhea fighting raquel. this time you weren’t going to interfere, you just were there for people to notice you and the moment the fans started chanting your name, rhea got mad.
this was your game and you were very good at it.
the judgment day - of course - were side ring too, making sure that you wouldn’t ruin rhea’s moment. damian got a little too close, like he was rhea’s bodyguard.
“are you scared i’m gonna hurt your princess?” you teased him.
“no, i’m worried she’s gonna hurt you” he said, leaving you speechless.
you and damian never shared more than a few words backstage, never been friends and never hung out with each other so you couldn’t understand why he was acting so protective towards you.
“she’s not a problem” you said looking back at the ring.
“she will be a problem if you keep teasing her, you should stop or you’re gonna get hurt” he said, avoiding the cameras that were pointing at you.
of course people would start speculating if they saw you two too close so you played your game and moved away from him.
“i don’t need a man to be saved, i can save my own ass” you sarcastically smiled, waving your hair back and forth.
you were sure the cameras caught that because they were pointing at you instead of the ring when you decided to leave.
the last time you got involved with the judgment day was when you were having a fight against bianca and when you heard their song starting you knew rhea was going to do the same thing you did at her match. you were currently winning so you didn’t let them distract you, instead you played your part way better. fixing your hair, checking your make up in the camera, smiling towards the crowd as you prepare to finish bianca.
when the bell rang you motioned to leave the ring but rhea jumped in.
“i told you so…” you heard damian whispering behind you. he knew that rhea wouldn’t have hurt you for real, she knew about the crush damian had on you but she couldn’t forget the way you always stole her moment.
yes she was “mami”, probably the most feared woman in the whole roaster but you were a fucking diva and you wouldn’t let someone who only wore black steal your moment.
you two stood in the ring facing each other. rhea had a devious smirk on her face, you, on the other hand, had the most “i couldn’t care less” expression that pissed rhea off more than before.
before she started a fight with you, damian shouted something at her that made her stop and leave the ring.
“this ain’t over” she screamed before going backstage.
“of course it’s not, next time we face each other i’m gonna get that title back home” you said, smirking at her.
you just fucked yourself and you knew it. damian had a very disappointed look on his face, more disappointed when rhea accepted the match.
“next week, me and you” she said before dropping the mic.
you waited a few minutes before coming back backstage. you were going into your changing room when you felt someone’s hand on your shoulder.
“of course you had to challenge her” damian smirked at you.
“what can i say? it’s the way i am”
“you’re crazy y/n…she’s gonna destroy you” he said.
“geez thanks for your trust…” you said before having the most devious idea on your mind. you weren’t blind, you noticed the way he looked at you, the way he was stalking your social media, the way he was booking hotel rooms in the same hotel you were. you knew he had a crush on you and even if you liked him as well, you wanted to play with him a little bit “well…maybe, you could help me train” you offered him.
“me? why me?”
“you’re a great wrestler damian…and you know rhea” you said looking directly into his eyes.
“i shouldn’t…” he said.
“please?” you said smiling.
“fine…be at the gym tomorrow morning”
“no, i can’t tomorrow morning, i have a hair appointment, why don’t we do this tomorrow after lunch at my place? i have a ring inside my garage, and there will be more privacy too, what do you say?” you almost teased him.
of course he couldn’t say no. staying alone with you was his dream.
“fine…text me your address” he said before leaving. you couldn’t see it but he had the biggest smile on his face, the idea of spending the afternoon alone with you made him all happy and excited that he couldn’t wait for the next day to come.

The Deadliest Poisons Are The Sweetest - 3
You remember the little boy and his rabbit.
(09/15/23) Note: If you have read this chapter before this date, please note that I have combined chapters 1 and 2 together. This may seem confusing, but I have decided that as a creative approach, I would like the chapters to be longer. This used to be chapter 4, now it is chapter 3.
Y'all, let me know if you prefer fics with fewer, but longer chapters, or fics with lots, but shorter chapters.
Feedback is always appreciated. Feel free to message me privately or comment below to let me know what you think. Constructive criticism is always welcome!

He plucks off a red carnation from a bush and places it into your hands. The flower is so beautiful that you cannot help but gawk at it.
“My mother had these planted many years ago, before my birth,” Damian explains. “Do you know what red carnations symbolize?”
You timidly shake your head, embarrassed at your lack of flower symbolism knowledge. You wonder if all upper-class women already knew the answer to his question. If they were in the garden with the two of you, they would probably shout out the answer before it left Damian’s lips.
“They symbolize deep love and affection,” he continues. “She planted them for my father.”
You squirm at his explanation, unsure of how to react. Should you feign innocence? It was a well-known, yet rarely spoken about secret within the realm that Prince Damian was born out of wedlock, but no one could fathom speaking about the matter in public. It would certainly be considered treasonous to do so. After all, even implying that the royal family was anything less than perfect was worthy of prison.
Damian laughs heartily at your reaction. “Please, I know what you must be thinking. I am well aware that I do not come from…the most honorable of circumstances.”
You cannot help but laugh in response. “That matters not,” you reply. “It is your character that I care about.”
He hums in response, and silence befalls you two. It is a much more comfortable silence than when you arrived in the capital. This time, you are alone with him instead of being surrounded by a throng of people.
Well, technically. While your family and his become acquainted with one another indoors, you are walking next to Damian in the gardens, each with your respective chaperone trailing a few yards behind. You turn to see Alice viewing the extraordinary plants around her, some of which she had never seen before. Damian’s chaperone, a high-ranking general in R’as army, trails along indifferently.
You turn back around and to your surprise, you find Damian observing you intensely.
“There must be something on my face for you to look upon me like that,” you shyly utter.
Damian broods for a moment before responding. “I look at you in the hopes that you remember me.”
You smile fondly at the memory. “Of course, I remember. How could I forget the little prince and his rabbit?”
Tumblr media
You remember nodding your head at your father, not entirely listening to his words. You were too entranced by your surroundings. Never had you ever seen walls so tall, bricks so sturdy, and rooms so ornate.
“King R’as and I fought alongside each other many years ago,” he explained. “You should forever be grateful towards him. In return for fighting loyally by his side, he granted me earldom.”
He grabbed your shoulder and proceeded to kneel to face you directly. “I must leave you with the servants to attend a meeting with the king. Be good, my child. Do not dishonor our family name.”
“Yes, Father!”
He smiled at you and kissed you on the forehead before handing you off the servant that stood on the side.
“Let us find you something to eat,” the kind servant said.
She escorted you to the bustling kitchen and sat you down on a small wooden stool. You were surprised at how many people were employed in the kitchen alone. The amount of kitchen staff here at the castle equated to how many people were employed in your family’s entire home and stables!
You were given a measly bowl of oats, but it still satisfied your rumbling stomach. The servant left you to your own devices to perform her own duties. Surely, there were more important tasks on her mind than to care for a child. However, that meant you were left unsupervised to explore the castle.
There were an unnecessary number of rooms to explore. You were amazed at the grandeur of it all. The imagination you had as a child ran wild, conjuring up scenarios of how you would live leisurely at a place like this. There would never be a problem that could not be fixed within a snap of your fingers. Chores would never have to cross your mind. You would have everything you could ever desire and more.
One after another, you hurriedly explored each room, forgetting the promise you made to your father. Who cared about family honor when you there was so much to see?
You were able to easily flit from room to room. Innumerable servants passed you by without a glance, hurriedly completing their tasks. No one cared to look after a whimsical child when they risked corporal punishment for not completing their daily chores.
A skip, a hop, and a jump later, your heart suddenly clenched. Your feet skidded to a sudden stop and your ears perked up. There were the rumblings of an angry individual coming from just around the corner.
How could anyone be angry living in a place like this, you naively thought.
You steadily inched across the hall. The voice increased in volume the closer and closer you approached.
“ – to be a king!” You overheard a snippet of the conversation as you pressed your ear to the wooden doorframe.
“I have had enough of this sniveling. What would your grandfather say if he saw you like this? He would surely be disappointed in not only you, but in me. I have obviously failed as a mother if you cannot keep it together over something so insignificant.”
You pulled your head away from the doorframe quickly. It did not sound like the sort of conversation that you should have eavesdropped on. You scurried away from the door and hid just in the nick of time around the corner when the door thumped open. Footsteps stomped away from the room until all that could be heard were tiny sniffles, almost undiscernible.
Forget anger, how could anyone be sad living in a place like this?
Curiosity overtook your body, and you could not stop your feet from approaching the now open door. Peeking inside, you saw the silhouette of a young child on the edge of a bed, with their back towards you.
It was obvious from their trembling body that they were crying, but it was also equally obvious that they were attempting to quiet their own whimpers. Your mind battled itself – should you comfort this person, or should you walk away?
The memory of your father from earlier that day pierced your mind suddenly. You cringed at the sudden realization that you disobeyed your father, and that he would be displeased with your current behavior.
You slowly started to back away from the entrance of the room, but you never were one to have life go your way. The soles of your shoes scuffed against the stone floor and created an echo within the hallway.
A gasp was heard from the inside of the room, and you knew you were caught. You winced as you raised your head to meet the eyes of the person whose privacy you intruded on.
Watery green eyes met your own. His cheeks were wet with his tears, and his nose was blushed red. His mouth trembled in an effort to contain his tears, but one trickled down before he could stop it. He angrily wiped his face with his sleeve before returning to face you.
“What is it that you want?” he sneered, embarrassed that someone else had seen him cry.
Your mouth opened, but no words could escape. There was so much to be said in that moment, but in your foolishness, you chose silence. You remembered what your siblings would do to comfort you whenever you were scolded by your mother. They would stroke your hair, wipe your tears, rub your back, and whisper declarations of love into your ear, all while you wailed your misfortunes onto them. They listened and your heart had no choice to calm itself after their comforting presence.
Words could not be conjured in your head, so instead, you inched further into the room. The green-eyed boy watched in irritation when you rounded the bed to sit next to him. He huffed and looked away from you, but remained on the bed.
You remained mute for what seemed like an eternity before you spoke. “Do you want to talk –”
“No, I do not,” he sharply interrupted.
The sharpness of his tone made you tremble. It felt as if you had been scolded by your tutors or perhaps your parents. It shocked you to no end that someone as young as him could hold such authority within his voice.
Silence enveloped the room once again. All that could be heard was his slight sniffles before you huffed in annoyance. Your siblings made this look so easy, but comforting someone was looking to be quite difficult!
He did not wish to speak to you, so how else could you possibly comfort him?
The bed creaked as you stood slowly. You turned to face him and stood closely to him. Your proximity to him broke his attention and he finally gazed upon you once more. This time however, confusion marked his face rather than anger. His knees nearly touched your upper thighs.
Your arms were firmly at your side, but you soon raised them around his shoulders. They dropped behind him, and you pulled him in closer. His head now laid beneath your sternum.
It was certainly an awkward hug. The angle itself was odd, but what made it even odder was the fact that the young boy did not reciprocate. His arms stiffly remained on the bed, unmoving. You furrowed your eyebrows in confusion – were you mistaken? Were others not as receptive to hugs as you were?
It grew more embarrassing for each second that passed. You began to feel extremely hot and realized that perhaps, this was a situation that you were simply unable to solve. Your hands were tightly bound to your wrists to secure the hug, but they began to slip as you moved to remove yourself from the boy.
That is, until his arms began to move as well. Slowly but surely, they snaked around your waist, and kept you attached to him.
You grinned at your achievement. Yes, the hug was possibly the worst one you had ever received, but at least it was reciprocated.
One hand remained on his back, but the other slowly slid up towards his head. He gulped when your fingers tangle in his hair, stroking his head ever so gently. His sniffles disappeared, and his breathing evened out. His grip around your waist grew tighter and he held you closer.
He took a deep breath in and spoke much more softly. “My rabbit passed away this morning.”
You tsked in response. “I am terribly sorry. What was the name of your rabbit?”
He paused. “His name was Rabbit.”
You had to stifle the laugh that gurgled in your throat. His head shot upwards, and he frowned at you, but his eyes smiled.
“A fitting name for – erm – a rabbit,” you responded.
“Yes, well, he was a rabbit, so it made sense.”
You hummed in response. “How did Rabbit pass away?”
He rubbed his head on your belly. “I…am not sure. He was fine this morning. And then by the afternoon, he was…” He trailed off, unable to continue. “You must think I am weak. I am to be king one day and here I am weeping over a rabbit,” he dryly laughed.
You were silent for a moment. The future king? It did not cross your mind to think of who you were comforting. All that crossed your mind was that you saw someone who was in desperate need of affection. Your hands suddenly became clammy at the realization that you were not comforting a normal child. This was Prince Damian!
You ripped yourself from his grip abruptly and stepped back. The little boy appeared bewildered at your sudden movements.
“Prince Damian,” you whispered. Your immediately bent your head and knees in respect, holding your dress out to the sides in a clumsy curtsy. “I sincerely apologize – I should not have –” You glanced at the open door in horror.  Despite your good intentions, this interaction was beyond inappropriate between a royal family member and a low-level aristocrat.
Damian stood up, his hand outreached towards you. “Please, there is no need for –”
You took a step towards the door. Your father’s stern warning rang once more in your head. “Once again, terribly sorry about Rabbit. Also, I should not have intruded on your Highness’ privacy.”
“No, there was no intrusion!” His arms stretched towards you, but you fluttered away out the open door and down the hallway. You could hear the pattering of footsteps behind you, but continued your fast pace. His footsteps eventually slowed to a stop.
Your mind flashed back to just how intimate the two of you were mere moments ago. Suddenly, it seemed impossible to run away. Your feet turned to bricks. It was wrong, so wrong, but his watery green eyes flashed in your vision, and you just had to properly say goodbye. It was impossible to leave the castle otherwise.
The little prince had a despondent look on his face as he stared at his shoes glumly. His slumped posture revealed his melancholy. You could not in good conscience leave him so abruptly.
Damian’s head whipped towards you when you squeaked out your name and your father’s.
“Perhaps, I will come to the capital again to see you, your Highness. Though, I must return to my father now. He will be very displeased with me if he finds out how I have been misbehaving.”
Damian nodded his head, a small smile etched onto his face. “Yes, perhaps. I look forward to that day, and hope that it comes sooner rather than later.”
Tumblr media
“I keep the memory of that day near and dear to my heart.”
You flush at the thought of Damian remembering you from all those years ago. “Your Highness, I am not sure –”
“Damian,” he interrupts. “Call me Damian. Or Husband. You are to be my wife, so we should remove these formalities between us.”
“D – Damian.” His name rolls off your tongue like butter. “Husband.” You are unsure of what name you like more. “You sound so firm in your decision to marry me. I must know – why? Why me? I have no major titles. No social standing. As your mother pointed out at my arrival, I have no money.” Your hands move rapidly in the air to emphasize your confusion. The carnation Damian gave you dangerously teeters between your thumb and index finger.
Damian calls your name softly and grabs your shoulders, so that you face him. “Why does my desire for you come as a surprise?”
“Well, because of what I just said!” you sputter. “Money, status, titles! All of it!”
“Has it not crossed your mind that I do not need any of what you have mentioned? I am perfectly content with what I have been born with.”
“That still does not explain anything. When the royal messenger delivered us the news that you accepted my proposal, I sincerely thought it was a joke! A cruel joke, but a joke nonetheless.”
“T’is no joke! Out of all the maidens in the realm, I want to marry you. I chose you.”
Your mouth gapes open at his revelation. His disclosure sounded like one of those oral stories that your grandmother would tell you when you were younger. Those stories about the rich prince and the poor girl who fall in love and overcome all struggles. But those were merely fairytales, and this is reality.
Damian rubs his face with hand in frustration before dropping it back down to his side. His gaze softens at your expression. “Look, I understand this situation was unexpected. Honestly, my decision surprised even myself.” He moves to grab your hands.
You gasp as his hands engulf yours. His fingers intertwine with your own, radiating so much warmth. His display of affection directly causes your heart to skip a beat. The carnation’s stem becomes crushed between your hand and his.
“The day we met…is one of the fondest memories of my childhood. I have never forgotten the kindness you showed me that day.” He rubs the top of your knuckles with his thumbs. “When talks of my marriage began to arise, it was expected that I would marry a princess. I was never opposed to the idea of marriage, but I amopposed to marrying a stranger.”
The green and yellow in his eyes are nearly replaced with all black. His teeth clench and his jaw tightens in anger. “So much of my life is controlled. But I refuse to let my grandfather and mother choose the person I will be spending the rest of my life with. I cannot do it. This is why your presence in the capital was immediately required. I did not wish to be persuaded otherwise.” He takes a deep breath in and loudly exhales. He relaxes his shoulders to allow the stress to leave his body. Genuine kindness emanates from his eyes and into your own. “And that is why when I heard you were interested, I jumped at the opportunity. I have never forgotten you. Why find another bride when I already have a fondness for you?”
“Oh, Damian.” Your heart soars at his proclamation. He stands before you in the body of a man, but you can see through the cracks. He is still the little boy who grieved deeply for his pet rabbit. He is still the little boy who deeply craved affection, but could not show he wanted it. He is still the little boy you ached for long after you left the capital as a child. It was a girlhood crush, but the remnants of that fire remain. Your hand grazes his cheek, and he nuzzles into it. It finds its way from his cheek to his ear, and then to the back of his head. His black hair tangles in your fingers and you find yourself transported back in time to when you first met him. His hair feels the same as it did all those years –
“Ahem!” Alice abruptly proclaims. Your hand quickly untangles from his hair at the sound of her disapproval. Although you are to be wed to him soon, Damian was not yet your husband. Physical affection could not be tolerated until then.
She attempts to glare at you, but you could see her quivering lips. She does her absolute best to hide her smile until she cannot any longer. Her tense lips turn upwards into a smile, and you chuckle at her reaction. Damian’s guardian, the general, remains indifferent except for the tiniest sparkle in his eyes.
You take a step backwards to place some distance away from Damian. Although you are no longer touching him, he looks at you so intimately that it feels like you are embracing one another.
“I suppose we must keep our hands to ourselves,” you quip.
“I suppose so,” he muses. You two begin your walk through the garden again. This time though, there is heat between your bodies despite the distance.
The red carnation Damian bestowed upon you remains in your hands. You twist and twist and twist the flower around.
Deep love and affection. The symbolism behind the flower makes you blush. Your mind wanders off into a daydream. Your daydream is almost like a vision. You see yourself planting flowers for Damian within this very garden, just like his mother did for his father. The thought makes your heart bloom.

Bruce Wayne
• When Bruce first catches you singing he tries to act normal about it, and not give much of a reaction so that you don’t get startled or embarrassed if your shy about people hearing you. He wants to enjoy hearing you so subtle encouragement is the route he’ll take to keep you singing.
• If you’re unaware that he can hear you or that he’s standing nearby, he’ll stay quiet and just listen, trying not to interrupt you or the things you were doing at the time. Once you did realise he was there, he would simply tell you to keep going and to not be bothered by his presence. After all, if you’re so close it should be normal to be comfortable around each other.
• Bruce enjoys your singing mainly as it signifies that you’re at peace at the time, and notices that you don’t sing as much after stressful situations. Bruce does enjoy hearing you sing though and will immediately miss hearing it at home when times have been rough or you’ve had to leave for a little while for work or personal reasons.
• He’ll ask you to do it more often, usually when the two of you are doing something quiet together, like “attempting” to cook together or simply spending time around one another without anyone else in the family around to bother you. He understands if you don’t want to do it all the time around him, but he’d prefer if you did since he likes to listen to you so much.
• Bruce gets himself into a routine of hearing you sing when you’re by yourself when he comes back home to the manor at the end of the day, just a few hours before he goes on patrol. If he can’t hear you once this routine has been established then he’ll be immediately worried and jump to conclusions that something may be wrong even if nothing is, you may just be preoccupied with something thats distracted you and will only settle once he’s seen you or heard your voice again.
Dick Grayson
• When Dick firsts hears you sing he’ll be quiet about it only for a little while and will enjoy hearing you before confronting you about it with a direct compliment. He’ll probably ask why he hasn’t heard you sing before and may even turn the situation into a bit of a joking matter just to have you relax about it and not feel stressed about you accidentally being heard.
• Luckily, if Dick does catch you singing while unaware of his presence it won’t stay this way for long, as he’ll openly be around you while you song once you’ve gotten used to him hearing you. This often comes with him smiling and joining in if he’s in a good mood and not too tired from Gotham’s problems.
• Dick really enjoys your singing and will often join in as he loves to sing too, and often the two of you have very similar music tastes when it comes to music that is good for singing along to. He’ll openly express how good you are, but will of course keep this private if you ask him to as he doesn’t want to put you out of your comfort zone when other people are around.
• He would think that encouraging you to sing would be a possible good boost towards your confidence and self image, even if these things were already pretty good. Everyone should receive encouragement, and Dick is always one to push you towards the things you like to do no matter how small it may be.
• Dick ends up getting used to hearing your singing when he’s around the house as he’s so used to you being relaxed enough to sing. He loves hearing it every time and tries not to bother you too much, and it usually helps him settle down after a long day too.
Damian Wayne
• Damian doesn’t think much about your singing as he knows that everyone has their own habits, especially when he’s had to live around the batfam for so long. But after a while it grows on him and he’s glad to hear it whenever you start singing to yourself.
• If he catches you unaware of his presence then he’ll slowly make himself known and give you a simple compliment about your singing. He doesn’t want to startle you but also wants you to know that your singing doesn’t bother him in the slightest.
• The more you sing the more he enjoys it, and eventually it becomes the norm for him to hear it. He’s very straightforward about his views and will immediately let you know how much he likes your singing even though he knows you aren’t actively looking for compliments.
• He will ask you to do it more often when times have been rough and he wants a sense of normality around his home again. And he genuinely enjoys hearing it, so it’ll be a pleasure for him to hear it more often when the two of you are in private.
• If the two of you have supposedly had a good day and he doesn’t hear you singing then he will assume that something may be wrong, even if that’s not the case. Afterwards, he’ll ask you directly as to why you may not be singing as you usually are which leads you to realise that he’s associated your singing with your general happiness.

I could make an even longer post including panels to explain all the reasons why I don't agree with the people I've seen online who act like the recent stories of Tim saving Bruce at the end of Batman #135 and Damian saving Bruce at the end of Batman vs Robin are very similar and treating Tim and Damian equally good, but that would probably end up being too long. So here is the slightly less long version to explain what fundamentally sets them apart:
Tim is simply allowed to be good and heroic with no drawbacks. And Damian is not.
There was no argument before Bruce vanished that Tim saving him is an apology for. Bruce didn't get lost because of a mistake Tim made. Tim's way of travelling through the multiverse didn't require him to do anything bad to get it and his travels don't have any negative consequences for him or the places he goes to. Tim didn't only manage to save Bruce after asking for help from a bunch of other characters he met during his journey through the multiverse.
He is simply allowed to be Batman's shining saviour.
Now that alone isn't a problem. The problem is that the other character currently wearing the Robin mantle gets treated very differently.
If Damian was the one trying to save Bruce in the same arc I'm pretty sure some of the things I've listed above, if not all of them, would have been done. Because making Damian at fault for the problem he is trying to solve, punishing him repeatedly for messing up and not letting him solve the problem simply through the power of his own abilities is a pretty persistent pattern in Damian's stories.
Like in Batman vs Robin, a recent story some people try to argue gave Damian a "Robin saves Batman" story equally as nice as the one Tim just got.
Let me break down what Damian's role in that story actually is:
He opens the tomb of Nezha because of his recklessness, Mother Soul only had to arrange for the key to fall into his hands (thus causing all the following terrible events)
He gets possessed by Nezha
He tries and fails to kill his father multiple times, not because Damian is successful in fighting back against Nezha's possession, but because Bruce is simply shown to be superior to him in every way
Bruce dons the helmet of fate and frees everyone possessed by Nezha from his influence, including Damian
Damian begs Bruce for forgiveness
Damian and Talia try to defeat Mother Soul but she simply jumps into an abyss
Damian tries to stop Nezha from killing Bruce, but Nezha then just tries to shoot Damian instead and Bruce jumps in front of the blast, causing him to die
Black Alice and Pigsy manage to revive Bruce, but he's still in a very bad condition
Damian flies them all out of there and crashlands the plane into the Hall of Justice
Damian tries to explain to the heroes what is going on, but everyone turns to (a barely conscious) Batman and they only start listening to Damian once Bruce tells them to do so
Damian comes up with a very vague plan that...I guess one of the two teams had success? The other part of the plan failed and had some unintended consequences though, like Nezha taking full control of Bruce's body, which turned Bruce into nothing more than a husk for Nezha.
Damian remains at the Hall of Justice while the other heroes leave to execute his plan
He gets attacked by King Fire Bull and is completely useless the entire fight even after gaining temporary powers (seriously, it's stated in the book that his heat vision does nothing against a magic being like King Fire Bull)
He yells at King Fire Bull that if he learned anything these past few days it's that you will never be better than your father
The freed magic users defeat King Fire Bull
Nezha in Batman's body returns to the Hall of Justice without the rest of Batman's team, but Damian doesn't become suspicious of him
Damian wakes up captured by Nezha
He manages to escape but Nezha chases him
Monkey Prince explains to Damian the longer Nezha stays in Batman's body the stronger he will get, so they have to get him out of Batman and into his old body fast to banish him, but Nezha is the only thing keeping Bruce's body from dying. If they want to save the world Damian has to kill his father
Damian calls the rest of the batfamily for help to capture Nezha/Batman
After the batfamily wears him down first Monkey Prince uses his cloning ability on Damian to make 20+ (?) clones of Damian that wear Nezha down even further
Zatanna, Enchantress and Pigsy arrive to shackle Nezha and transfer his soul back into his original body on Damian's orders, leaving Bruce dead
Damian then asks Enchantress to transfer his life to Bruce to revive him, arguing that the world needs Batman far more than it needs him. She replies that his sacrifice wouldn't be enough to bring Bruce back, shocking Damian. Zatanna says countless people would need to give parts of themselves to revive Bruce.
Damian asks the entirety of Gotham to give a part of themselves to revive Batman, reminding them of all the times Batman has saved them and to shout "we are Batman" to transfer a part of their lifeforce into Bruce
Bruce comes back to life and they hug
The concluding sentence tells us that this story serves as a lesson to the world that there is no more formidable team than Batman and Robin
Even though we never saw them truly working  together as Batman and Robin at any point of the story and the only lesson I took from this is that Mark Waid really wants you to know that Bruce is the greatest and that Damian will never be as good as his dad. How uplifting.
But hey, they hugged in the end, surely that makes up for all of it, right?😑
Who needs Damian to not be at fault for yet another disaster? For Bruce to say something nice about him that goes beyond "well, he's my son, so I guess I have some love for him even though I can only describe him with bad attributes"? To simply see Damian filling the role Robin is supposed to serve in a story?
Or why let Damian enjoy the privilege that all other male Robins enjoyed? Which was to be Robin without sharing the mantle and getting to be Batman's main crime fighting partner?
Why do that when you can just use Tim for these things instead, right?🙂
And I want to make it clear that it's not just because "the characters are just like that". The characters are fictional, they have no free will.
A writer could simply let Damian have a story where he's not at fault for the problems he faces, where his own abilities allow him to solve the problem and he doesn't have to make shitty decisions because he's been forced into dilemmas other character simply don't get subjected to.
They just constantly choose not to.

Nightwing has always been a favorite character of mine, but I mainly steered away from the Batfamily generally because Batman/Bruce isn’t a character I gravitate towards. Over the last year, though, I’ve watched/read a lot of the rest of the fam through different shows, Nightwing comics, Batgirls comics, and Wayne Family Adventures. Here is my definitive ranking of the Batfamily*:
Tier Seven: A Literal Murderer
10. Red Hood - Jason Todd
Y’all know he kills people right? Every other post I see about him on here is talking about him being a cinnamon roll or a perfect gentleman and it seems to get lost that he walks around shooting people with regularity. Doesn’t even seem particularly remorseful about it. I get that you died, man, but like half the heroes in DC have died at some point and they’re not filling people with lead. You’d think with all his money, Bruce could send his kids to see a therapist but I guess that’s a lot to ask of a man who processed his own grief and trauma by dressing up like a bat to fight thieves and muggers.
Tier Six: You Couldn’t Pay Me All of Bruce Wayne’s Money to Stay in a Room with Them for Five Minutes
9. Batman - Bruce Wayne
8. Red Robin - Tim Drake
I find both Bruce and Tim to be pretty insufferable. They’re smart but not smart enough to realize how to be smart without being a dick about it. Too clever for their own good and while they’re ranked higher here than Jason, I’d still much rather be in a room with Jason than either of them. Death would be welcomed if my alternative was having to listen to Bruce or Tim talk for more than fifteen seconds.
Tier Five: Need More Data Points
7. Signal - Duke Thomas
I basically only know Duke from WFA which is a fun series but doesn’t give me a ton to go off of big picture. Jury’s still out but I like his odds of not slipping.
Tier Four: Children Get Benefit of Doubt
6. Robin - Damian Wayne
Damian annoys me but in his defense, he is a literal child that was raised by assassins. He gets this spot because of extenuating circumstances and his relationships with Dick and Jon Kent.
Tier Three: The Batgirls
5. Spoiler - Steph Brown
4. Orphan - Cass Caín
3. Oracle - Barbara Gordon
I would be willing to die for any of these characters but they would never let that happen. Probably the most fluid tier. Have more connection to Babs because of my intro to the Batfamily primarily coming from Dick. Cass is second here largely because of her and Dick being perfect together in WFA. Steph lost the straw poll but could easily be third the next time I do this with little effort.
Tier Two: The Billionaire Butler
2. Alfred Pennyworth
The actual father figure of the Batfamily. Every ounce of every one of the Batfamily members success as actual humans is because of Alfred. Batman may have made them all good crime fighters, but Alfred made them good people. Alfred made them heroes.
Tier One: Boy Wonder
1. Nightwing - Dick Grayson
This was always going to be number one. It was never a question. Dick is my favorite superhero and quite possibly my favorite fictional character in general. He was never not winning this ranking.
*Only doing characters I’m mostly familiar with so if someone is missing I just don’t have enough connection to them yet - feel free to send recs to know them better!

I saw your post where you’re looking for requests, and I have an idea… What about an angst fic where Rhea is always busy/forgets the reader’s birthday. They’ve been together for a few years and maybe this time the reader decides enough is enough and is contemplating leaving her/temporarily breaks up with her? I’m a sucker for a badass woman having to grovel/redeem herself to her girlfriend, no clue why. But a happy ending, pretty please? Sorry if this is too specific — please, feel free to change any details you want! It’s just an idea I’ve had running around in my head that I’ll probably never get around to writing myself. -🦢
Tumblr media
An ‘Unforgettable’ Birthday
Rhea Ripley x Reader (angst)
CW: angst, Rhea being an asshole (redeems herself ofc)
Tumblr media
You and Rhea had been together for almost 3 years now and since the start she’s shown you nothing but love and affection, always put you first and cared for you like nobody else did. But as of recent her job and other things in her life seemed to being steering her attention away from you. You were fine and understanding with it at first, but as time went on she became snarky and irritable towards you. Nothing was the same as it used to be and it was a hard pill for you to swallow.
It was the night before your birthday, you and Rhea were laying in bed. She was on her phone, almost completely ignoring your existence. You knew how things were between you two right now but you thought she’d at least bring knowledge to the fact it was your birthday the next morning.
“Rhea, Are you even listening to me?” You spoke up as she smirked at something on her phone.
“What is it y/n?” She responded with a rude tone in her voice. “Can’t you see I’m busy right now? Give me a break.”
Rhea rolled over with her back facing you, continuing what ever was so important on her phone.
“You know what, fine.” You said, turning off the light beside your bed. “Forget it.”
It was the next morning, your eyes opened and you turned to see Rhea wasn’t in bed anymore. A bit of hope surged through your body, hoping that she was doing something to surprise you. When you walked to the kitchen and saw that she was getting ready to go somewhere, you spoke up.
“Where are you going?” You asked, rubbing the sleep from your eyes.
“I’m going to Damian’s, I won’t be home tonight.” She responded, like last night was on her phone, ignoring you. “So just feed the pets and make yourself useful.”
An anger you have never felt before overtook any other emotion you could have felt in this moment, the 3 years you spent surprising her each birthday she had. Taking hours out of your day to make the day special for her. She used to do the same for you, but something had changed. The rage you felt boiled in your stomach and traveled up your body until it came spilling out of your mouth.
“You’re kidding right?” You laughed in a sarcastic manner. “Like you’re actually fucking kidding?” She looked at you, acting like this was completely out of character. Something wasn’t right.
“Y/n why are you acting like this?” Her voice quiet.
“Why am I acting like this? No why are YOU acting like this?” You took a step closer to her. “You used to make me feel loved and wanted and now you just discard me like shit under your shoe and I’m just supposed to take it?”
“Y/n please just wait a minu-”
“Today was supposed to be my special day, everything I’ve done for you over the years and this is what I get? Discarded, uncared for and my birthday completely forgotten.”
The anger on your face was completely undeniable, something hit Rhea like a ton of bricks as you told her how you felt. You could tell.
“Fuck this and fuck you too Rhea.” You grabbed your coat and car keys, getting ready to walk out that door and never turn back to this. “I’m over you and the shit you’ve been putting me through.”
“No wait please!” She grabbed your wrist with a tight grip and refused to let go. “I’m sorry I genuinely really am sorry, I don’t know why I’ve been doing this.” She told you, swarms of regret flooding her mind.
“You have no reason to treat me this way Rhea, now let me go.” You said trying to fight the grip she had on your wrist.
“please, I know I don’t deserve a second chance with the way I’ve been treating you but I promise you I’ll do absolutely everything I can to make this right.” The look she had told you she was dead serious on trying to make this right. She didn’t cry, she didn’t try to play a victim. She knew she was in the wrong.
You thought for a minute, you loved Rhea. You loved the way she made you feel, every moment you had spent together throughout the last 3 years couldn’t be let go because of this. You didn’t want to let it go.
“Rhea-”
“I know I fucked up, I really fucked up. But I promise you from the bottom of my heart to make this right and fix what I’ve ruined.” She let go of your wrist, letting you make the choice to leave or to stay.
You put down your coat and your keys, staring at the woman you loved unconditionally for the past 3 years of your life. She wrapped her arms around your waist, her face buried in your neck. You closed your eyes as you reluctantly hugged back, but relaxed as the feeling you missed too much came back to you.
“I’m sorry y/n, truly.” She kissed the top of your head as she held you close. “I think I owe you a day out.”
You giggled at her. “Where did you have in mind?”
“Wherever you want love, wherever you want.”
Tumblr media
Tysm for the request and I’m so sorry it took me ages to answer it. I’ll be more active now as my job as given me a couple days off!

BFTC isn’t really a case of terrible characterization for Jason so much as it was a terrible case of victim blaming. Like yeah, some of the things Jason did were a bit extreme compared to his “better” appearances, but that’s nothing new and pretty much true of many stories that aren’t utrh or lost days. The bad parts are are also definitely exaggerated by fans.
The story isn’t centered on Jason. Of course every other character’s description of Jason would be knee-jerk dismissive and misunderstanding, since (again) the intention was to make Jason out to be the cartoony bad guy villain. But if you look past the layers of grime they added, the bare bones of his characterization are not entirely incorrect. It’s a biased story in which their intended criticisms of Jason’s morals often fell short, so to compensate they deliberately cranked up his motivations to be more extreme and unrealistic (but one which, nonetheless got Jason’s overall thoughts and goals relatively consistent with stories that portrayed him accurately).
Yes, him shooting Damian was out of character, but granted we’re all in agreement that it was a true case of “bad writing decision”, I don’t think it’s hard to look past. The only other bit people probably complain about (which felt iffy at worst) was him being “a bit enthusiastic” at times in trying to convince Dick to become another lethal Batman (you can just as easily say Jason wouldn’t have been personally invested enough to have acted in the way he did). I don’t care though because he was probably doing it for shits and giggles, and it was funny watching him push their buttons on his spare time while being excellent at his job. Same old ‘none of them deny that he’s effective, they just can’t get behind the killing’ conflict.
Looking past the fact that Jason still had a valid point, the “he’s the bad guy” plot falls apart for other obvious reasons, which happen in the 3rd issue. It’s kind of hard to focus on how much of a bitch Jason’s being when the other characters are written in an infinitely more problematic way (which ends up happening in most “hate Jason” stories). Not only did they heavily imply Jason is a victim of SA, but the way Dick/the batfamily treats Jason about this is … horrible. Arguing that this was a case of character assassination for Bruce and Dick would be more realistic than using this story to claim Jason is a Bad Person™.
Even though Bruce does have a bad track record with his perspective on victims of SA.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Hey. Maybe listen to the living person begging you to turn it off.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Geez. I wonder why he never felt safe enough to confide in Bruce or any of the rest of them. Implying that enduring what he did made him “broken beyond repair”, that he needs to be “fixed”, and saying verbatim, “you are my greatest failure”, not “I failed you greatly”. Then deciding on behalf of Jason that a bunch of people who weren’t involved in what happened to him should all know about this so they can decide what should be done. And everyone agrees with this garbage. Unbelievable.
Tumblr media
Aka, any sort of healing he may have tried to accomplish was ruined by you lot. When exactly am I supposed to see that Jason was evil all along.
The story collapses in on itself in the third issue because where Dick is supposed to be at his prime within the arc, he just sort of rambles about how Jason was a shitty victim and then awkwardly shifts to talking about personal growth and coming to accept his own heroic destiny.
I do resent this, but not because “Jason sucks here”. Jason’s “bad portrayal” pales in comparison to the problematic mindsets given to the other characters (namely Dick) which were framed as good-natured intentions and “tough love”. As for people who describe this as “vilifying Jason to prop up Dick” … I don’t really know what to make of that.

I feel it’s a disservice to the character to make Dick out to be younger than he actually is.
Dick Grayson is a power fantasy, same as Bruce Wayne is, but he’s a very different type of power fantasy. This is mainly because he isn’t for the same type of audience. He isn’t for adults to relate to, he’s for teens to relate to.
What do I mean? Well, I don’t think we actually get many confirmations on Dick’s age. When he joins Bruce, there are a few clues to his age, but nothing really substantive. He’s old enough to know that his parents are dead; he has an understanding of what death is. He’s young enough that while adults seem to like him, they don’t take him very seriously. He isn’t particularly tall, but when he’s shown around actual children, he is quite a bit taller than them, I’d say at least a foot, and he is portrayed as a bit taller than most of his peers (peers that aren’t superheroes! Dick is always very nearly the shortest member of Teen Titans, but that’s not fair to judge him on because superheroes are huge) He’s young enough to attend a private boy’s school for undercover, and he’s young enough that younger children seem to trust him enough to do what he tells them to.
If I had to make a guess as to how old I thought Dick Grayson was, I would say 13-15, but leaning heavily on the 15 end. His personality is pretty set for most comics you read him in (barring extremities) which implies he’s developed a good portion of it already. And, to be honest, even if Bruce and Dick first met when Dick was 13, he didn’t become Robin until he was 14. He’s portrayed as either being taken in but trained for several months (I’d give him a low estimate of six months. He needs to learn science. He may be physically fit, but that doesn’t mean that he’s mentally ready) or taking a period of time in an orphanage, being taken in, then spending several months training. Dick becoming Robin wasn’t instant. I always assume he’s 15 when I read early comics because Dick’s brand of petulance - being annoyed at something Bruce said and snapping back with verbal quips, taking Bruce’s instructions and patiently listening to them for all of, at most, an hour before running off to do the opposite, judging Bruce for going out without him - feels like a mid-teen.
So, why is Dick a power fantasy? Well, he’s the embodiment of teenage desire:
Adults listen to him.
The main one is Bruce. Bruce Wayne, who is rich and notoriously a loner and who is considered a detective on the level of Sherlock Holmes, listens to Dick and never doubts him. He takes what Dick says at face value, he talks to Dick to spitball ideas at him, he answers any question Dick asks him and he never seems particularly impatient in doing so. He tells Dick that they’re partners and equals, and he treats him as a partner and an equal.
And there are other adults. Robin is famous in early canon. Everyone knows who he is. Adults in other towns don’t listen to their own children, but they listen to Robin because they kind of have to. I assume people who bully Robin are sent Batman’s patented, ‘live bat in a box mailed to the door.’ (I assume this because it’s funny, mostly.) But no matter why they listen to Dick - they do actually actively listen to him and try to improve in the ways he suggests.
This is what every teenager dreams of. Dick Grayson, a mere teenager who probably can’t legally drive a car yet, has the respect of adults around the globe.
Robin almost always has the respect of at least one adult, that being Bruce, no matter who is actually Robin at the time. I haven’t read many Jason comics, so I can’t say for sure on him, but Bruce treats Tim as an equal. He listens to him, and while he’s protective of him, he trusts that Tim can do things alone.
The only real example of Bruce treating Robin like a child comes with Damian. And even in the cass of Damian, he still makes an effort to listen to Damian and not ignore him. Which, the reason he treats Damian differently is because Damian is a child. I don’t think Damian is even 10 when we first meet him, let alone 13. I think, later on, he’s around 11-12, but Damian just doesn’t start as old as every other Robin. It’s necessary for Bruce to treat him differently.
“Well, what about comics where the adults, including Bruce, are terrible and don’t listen to Robin at all?”
I consider these an example of we in the intellectual world call: bullshit.
I’m sorry, but nine times out of ten, Bruce listens to Dick and praises Dick and believes in Dick ten thousand percent. The Bruce who doesn’t listen to Dick just isn’t Bruce. I don’t know who this poser is, but it’s literally impossible to him to be Bruce. It’s worse than bad writing, it’s blatant mischaracterization and a lazy plot device. Bruce would die for Dick without a second thought, he loves and respects Dick more than anyone. This man cannot physically or mentally resist the urge to listen to Robin and pat his back and say “we all make mistakes, chum, don’t worry about it.”
I need to emphasize here that Dick does the complete opposite of what Bruce tells him to multiple times, and end up kidnapped or in a tight spot for his efforts, and Bruce just isn’t upset. He’s worried, but he doesn’t even fucking care. He doesn’t get mad at Dick, I feel like he can’t even look at Dick without feeling a bit happy, there’s no way- are you really trying to tell me that Bruce goddamn Wayne would blame Robin for not preventing a crime that DiCK WASN’T EVEN PRESENT DURING?? He wasn’t even fucking there, he was off getting a police officer! You know, an adult! Because there was a crazy gunman shooting up a rally, what the actual fuck is Robin, a mortal child, supposed to do against an adult gunman twice his fucking height??? What did you want him to do, Bruce, get fucking shot? Because that’s what would have fucking happened, you absolute lunatic piece of shit, you want him to goddamn die to save one fucking person-
Ahem.
For the majority of comics, Dick represents teenagers. He fulfills that desire that teenagers have, the desire to be listened to and trusted. Dick is the first person in comics to ever know that Bruce Wayne is Batman. And while timelines shift and change, Bruce and Dick’s mutual respect for each other doesn’t. They get mad at each other later on down the line, but for a good 40 years, Bruce talked to Dick more than his own fiancée.
Dick isn’t a child. He and Bruce never met when he was a child. Dick also isn’t an adult. He still has a few years that he needs to spend growing into an adult. He’s that middle ground we all faced. That awkward period where adults expect you to act like an adult but don’t treat you like one. The power fantasy inherent in the character of Robin is that adults treat him like an adult while allowing him to make mistakes and act like a child.

This video was an interesting listen (basically thoughts about the ending of Tom Taylor & Bruno Rendondo run on Nightwing with #118) and honestly it's the first time I've really resonated with any criticism of Taylor's run, because I think ultimately I feel that way about his writing, too. It's been kind of fantastic for pulling me back in after my frustration with having left DC back in 2011 and for giving me something to try to pull in new fans, it's so easy to pick up and start reading and have a solidly good time. That made it so easy go go, "Here's a fun starting point!" when I was trying to lure in new fans with me. I think it was a really fun palette cleanser after Ric Grayson. I think it's light-hearted and fun, like drinking a soda (the same metaphor the narrator uses). And that's not a bad thing (man, do I love soda), especially when Taylor's writing has felt incredibly good-spirited to me--and after a lot of years of mean-spirited feeling comics, that was a nice patch of sunniness for me to warm up to, too. But that, yeah, ultimately it's a lot of fluff. And that's not bad, but sometimes you do want more. That it felt like Taylor loved the character and was working to bring him back towards being an A-lister, but didn't always know how to write A-lister stories. I mean, I'll also defend that I think he writes adorable banter and Rendondo draws incredibly fun action sequences. That I loved the Dick and Babs conversation about not shutting each other out and it was good content. That Dick's support of Damian's growth as a person during Beast World was super touching. That there are really good emotional beats in there. So, I'm probably always going to be fond of Taylor's writing for those reasons, it came to me at the exact right time I needed it to fall back in love with DC, but that I think I'm okay with getting something new, too.

Of the DC comics you've read so far, what would be your top recommendations for people to check out/what have you enjoyed the most?
when i tell you i have been thinking about this all day- i have been thinking about this. all. day.
so disclaimer, as of writing this, i have only read 31 runs from start to finish and 18 arcs/events outside of those runs. on top of, everything i've read so far has been strictly robin-centric, so dick, jason, tim, and damian. (i have read all of steph's robin appearances lol, but i haven't gotten to reading material for her, like say batgirl 2009, yet.) i've also decided not to rec from any run i'm currently reading, so for example, you won't see any batman: gotham knights recs here. because i'm most well-read on the robins, i'm only going to rec for them.
also, i'm going to operate under the following assumption: you've got a basic knowledge of the robins. none of these are where i would necessarily recommend anyone start reading about the boys, but i do think they'd be pretty interesting if you're already somewhat familiar with them and don't want to commit to reading whole character backlogs. does that make sense? i hope that makes sense.
alright, let's do this!
DICK GRAYSON
oh god. this one is actually so hard because he has so much great stuff, but then also i have like a love/frustrate relationship with so much of it. like for instance, i really enjoyed The New Teen Titans, but also lowkey can't stand space adventures so whenever that went down i was like 😀👍. but okay. hmmmm.
i have two preboot recs, with explanations + caveats.
devin grayson's mob!dick arc, so Nightwing 1996 #99-100, 107-117. caveats: it doesn't really get to finish playing out/wraps up weird because of editorial changes/infinite crisis. but!! it's a super interesting look at how dick handles...failure. how he values himself in light of that failure.
tomasi's run, but specifically #147-153. (listen, i love the dick and tim moments in 'freefall' but the whole eternally pregnant lady thing was too weird.) this is classic, hyper-competent dick, okay? he's such a bad-ass. and an idiot- bro literally flops his severely injured ass over the bars of his glider and rides it UNCONSCIOUS back to the batcave. i can't with him. poor alfred. anyways, he deals with two-face, always a good time. and then at the end, as a treat, he cries because bruce is dead. so fun!! what was my caveat here? oh yeah, he has a girlfriend. i don't remember her name, she serves like...very little purpose, the whole relationship is very minor/background okay, but like it was so unnecessary. he can be single, dc, it's okay.
for post re-boot, just read tom taylor's run!! it's the best thing ever!! zero complaints!!
HA. yeah, just kidding. that run is very like/frustrate for me lol. oh man i'm struggling here. it's not all bad okay, i'm just really picky, and i haven't re-read any nightwing n52 and onwards since my first foray into comics (8 months ago) so my memories of these are the foggiest and i'm not sure how i feel about all of it in light of what i've read now. yk what, i'm just going to...not rec anything. sorry!!
JASON TODD
his comics either go so hard or they're absolute ass, why is there no in between. istg, i can't figure out why writers struggle with him so much?? well. i mean, i do have theories. but you didn't ask for those!
pre-boot:
detective comics #569-574. robin!jason in the hands of writers who like him is so much fun. which, don't get me wrong, i don't flat-out hate how starlin writes him, but i think you get a more well-rounded view of jason as robin when you also see him in 'tec. jason and bruce tangle with the joker, scarecrow, + mad hatter, and all of those adventures are...idk if they were intentional foreshadowing okay, but reading those and knowing where the story goes? oof. especialllllly #574. caveat: #572 is pretty light on jason, but he is great when he's on panel!
reboot:
probably a very basic answer but rhato rebirth (2016) #1-13, annual #1. i abhorred n52 rhato so i almost skipped rhato rebirth since it was still written by lobdell, but i'm really glad i didn't. i really enjoy jason's relationship with bizarro + artemis, but especially with bizarro because i think jason struggles a lot with feeling like a doomed creation, so yk, parallels. i want to say more but i know i'll get too wrapped up in discussing jason so i'm just going to stop myself.
i actually really enjoyed task force z, too. i think about tfz #8 so much, jason is such a manipulative little shit and i love it. he's so- i can't. i can't get into this rn, it deserves its own post(s).
overall for jay, i need people to read something other than utrh/lost days/b:ul 1-6. i love those, i do, but they aren't the only good pieces of jason content!!
TIM DRAKE
MY BELOVED!!!!!!!!!! in my heart of hearts, i just want to rec his whole robin run lmao. dick was my intro, okay, he is why i decided to start reading comics, but tim, specifically his robin solo is why i'm still reading comics. hooked me fr. and young justice 1998, ugh love. but it has been a minute since i read these as well, so hmm. okay okay okay
pre-boot:
batman: prodigal. short version, tim is robin to dick's batman. super fun. there's a solid amount of dick and bruce angsting too, which, love. tim is honestly just thrilled that jpv is out of the batsuit and even happier to working with dick. very cute.
robin #46. listen. they're all superheroes okay, they all feel pressure to save people. but tim...losses get to him. the amount of times that he gets shoved to a breaking point and then...gets back up. keeps going. *screams*. anyways!! this is not tim getting back up, okay? this is him being shoved way, way down. it's so good.
teen titans 2003 #20. tim's dad has died. he shows up for his weekend at the tower anyways. he is not okay. that's it, that's the pitch. i did not like...mmm at least 80% of this run okay, but a few of the issues HIT and this was one imo.
reboot:
*deep sigh*. look. tim is not tim for like basically all of n52, although there are moments here and there were he feels like himself. i did not like his 2023 solo, the best parts of young justice 2019 imo are the character designs, (except for his drake costume, what was that omg), and i haven't read any rebirth batman/'tec yet. except for zdarsky's run. which. tim is good there! but yeah, not really a whole lot of material to work with + very limited reading experience atm.
DAMIAN WAYNE
god, i love this kid. nature vs. nurture fascinates me, and so much of his story digs into that on top of trying to figure out who he is apart from all of that. i will say, i'm not a huge talia fan and by that i mean, i have no idea who she is "supposed" to be, like i have no frame of reference for that atm, so if you are a huge talia fan these recs might not hit for you because from what i've observed from her fans she is not well portrayed a whole lot since becoming his mother? i think one of the things that is normal is dick absolutely disliking her though, which cracks me up. there's this older batman story (batman #322-335) where bruce works with talia and dick goes running to selina and i was so entertained. what were we talking about? oh! damian!
preboot:
batman and robin 2009 #10-12. damian is struggling, with a lot of things. the fact that bruce might be alive, what that means for him and dick, and his mother's puppeteering. there's this line that kills me: "can't you just love me for who i am? not what you want me to be?" and the thing that gets me, is the use of who vs. what. because he could have said, "not who you want me to be", but he doesn't
reboot:
batman: shadow war. this is post-alfred's death, and honestly, most damian stuff post city of bane is pretty juicy, but there's this specific moment in shadow war: alpha #1 that had me speechless. just like 😧 i love bruce, but that man has some of the most chronic foot-in-mouth disease. oh but fair warning, for whatever reason they don't draw dami's mask connecting?? it's so- it drives me nuts.
JUST FOR FUN
these are just two issues that i enjoy for the brother content!
nightwing 1996 #25. dick and tim's relationship makes me ILL. *ahem*. this issue is mostly just super cute and fun, (there's like 0.2 seconds of angst when tim asks dick if he ever thinks about jason 😭) and i adore it sm. fun fact, it's actually one of the first comics i ever bought!
batman 2016 #16. unfortunately, tim is not here for this, but duke is! jason and damian's interactions in the background of bruce's Very Serious Speech are excellent. bruce is so dramatic and his kids are so unserious.
what i've most enjoyed
i've enjoyed the majority of what i've read, even titles/events i wasn't particularly looking forward to but had on my tbr for whichever character. i'm going to break down most enjoyed into two catergories, arcs that i loved top to bottom and then the guilty pleasures. this is not an exhaustive list, just what immediately came to mind.
top to bottom
bruce wayne: murderer?/fugitive. shocker, ik. but it's just, it's just so frickin good. i've said before, and i'll say it again, gotham war could NEVER. this right here is peak batfamily drama. the tension? the mystery? the angst? i knew nothing going into this okay, and truth be told, when i started it i was like "oh joy. another event." because i was just trying to read the 1996 nightwing run, but i'd committed to reading in full all the events it crossed over with. but i was invested so quickly. and like, i loved how the narrative supported the possibility that bruce was the murderer, because like, you know there's no way, but the more that comes out the more damning it is, and so you're like really dying to know what actually happened and i feel like the reveal was satisfying.
batman: city of bane. i'm going to cautiously put this here, because there might have been something i didn't like but i cannot recall it for the life of me right now. something about me is i love when the heroes lose. infinity war, empire strikes back? love. and ik bruce takes back gotham, but they lose alfred, okay, they lost. i also didn't expect to like this arc, i decided to read it because i wanted to know how alfred died. and first of all, i was shocked, even though i knew it was coming because i expected it to like happen towards the end. but nope. just *snap*. and then later when bruce is back in the manor and is confronted with alfred's body and his good-bye message? oh. my. god. i was bawling. despite my penchant for sad narratives, i don't tend to cry that much, but this got to me so bad. like i had to pause because i couldn't see. amazing.
red robin. his cowl is so ugly, but i really do love the run. i see a lot of discourse about it and also a lot of...interesting fanfic takes, so i don't really talk about it a lot here because it feels like most people are kind of tired of hearing about this run, which fair. i really enjoyed it as a sequel to his solo robin run. tbh, i almost put this in the guilty pleasure catergory, because there are a couple things i don't totally love, but like if the others are 10/10, this is 9/10.
young justice 1998. i love this comic so, so much. i don't even know what to say, i get so overwhelmed with joy when i think about this comic. nothing has hit the same way with this group since either, which is a crime. i need a title with this team so badly.
guilty pleasures
these are all runs/events i know some/most? people cannot stand and i totally get why, and i have problems with them, so i'm probably never going to rec them in good conscience but also like i can't lie and say i don't like them. these are not recs, okay? okay.
robin war. is it a hot mess? yes. but there is not a whole lot of canon content out there with all the boys working together, okay? so much of that event had me banging my head into a wall, but for me, there were a handful of pearls in there. i mean honestly, if i listed out pros and cons the cons list would be way longer but those pros are very precious to me.
batman and robin: eternal. very similar reasoning overall to robin war. plus cass finally came back!! i missed her. i love robin!dick and batman content, and the kids working together. this is probably my least favorite guilty pleasure though, okay, it's on thin ice.
grayson. listen, i love janin's art sm. i'm pretty neutral about spy stuff, so like i don't engage with it a whole lot. meaning, although i've heard it's tropey af in regards to the genre, i'm not familiar enough with the genre to be like trying to dig my eyeballs out with blunt spoons at the cliche of it all. the constant sexualization of dick got old super fast, and her name may have been helena but she wasn't- my list of dislikes is lengthy. but idk, i had fun with it. and imo it does have some genuinely great moments, i love dick in the desert with the baby, the ache i felt when dick wanted to come home and couldn't get ahold of bruce, issue #12 stabs me in the heart- the dick and dami reunion? stoppppp. i feel like this run and the ric grayson era are dick's most out there lmao
so yeah!! thank you so much for this ask, i had sm fun answering it. if you have any recs for me, feel free to drop them :)

Several small BatFam notes
Tumblr media Tumblr media
@moss-covered-thoughts (I'm answering questions and providing information for DPxDC fans.)
lol don't worry about it! Nothing about you talking about your fic will make me feel left out! I'm just happy to help you out with your work! If anything will make me feel left out, it's the lack of rogues content and people within this fanspace underutilizing Vlad and not having much of that juicy, juicy polycule content (specifically Vlad/Jack/Maddie) that I keep coming back to Danny Phantom for. :p Speaking of, I want to be as transparent as I can with the information I'm giving out, because just like all comics fans, I'm not an expert on everything and I am very much in my own specific niche and haven't read everything out there! I'm actually not much of a Batfam fan and am much MUCH more of a rogues fan! (Specifically my hyperfixation is focused around Harvey Dent and Two-Face.) So while I do have some information about the members of the batfamily, my knowledge isn't nearly as comprehensive as someone who's deep dived into that part of the DC universe! I'll give you the information I can, and hopefully someone with more cohesive Batfam knowledge can reblog this post with extra notes to fill in the holes I have in my knowledge. >.<
Adoption Order
So I can't tell you the specific specifics of adoption specifically, but I believe that the order of each member joining the Bat Family would probably be along the lines of: Dick Grayson -> Barbara Gordon -> Jason Todd -> Tim Drake -> Cassandra Cain -> Stephanie Brown -> Damian Wayne -> Duke Thomas.
Batgirl and Duke recs
Again, I haven't read much Bat Family stuff because my primary focus is on the rogues. But I do have a handful of recs! If you're willing to watch a long-ass video instead of reading, I would actually highly recommend Linkara's retrospective on Cassandra Cain and here's the link to said video! It's very good and goes into just about every major comic appearance she was in at the time of the video first coming out (in 2019)! You will get a very good image of her character from that, I like Linkara's analysis, and by watching that video, you will definitely be able to come away from it with a number of recommendations for both Cassandra Cain and Stephanie Brown! (He does talk about Steph some in this video, but it's limited.)
Speaking of Stephnie I'm sorry to say that I don't really have any recommendations for Steph as I sadly have just not really happened to come across any works that have her in them in my poking around in different comics and related media. But honestly, while I can't give you any recs for Steph, maybe you should toss Linkara (@atopfourthwall) a message! He's actually a decently active Tumblr user and given that he wants to do a different retrospective on Stephanie Brown, certainly he would have things to recommend!
As for other Cass reccomendations... The only thing I have in my back pocket is Spirit World. It's not about her, it's a solo series about the brand spanking new character, Xanthe Zhou, but Cass IS a main character in it, and people seem genuinely happy with what they did with her in that story!
If you're looking for good Barbra Gordon content... Well... Personally I would recommend giving her episodes in Batman: the Animated series or the issues that include her in The Batman Adventures a look-see...? It's always a solid time with her around in B:TAS, or in the Batman Adventures! They characterize her very well in those serieses!
If you want both a Cass and a Barbra suggestion... Maybe check out No Man's Land...? Asking you to read all of the comics that were part of that saga might be a little much, but there is a novel adaptation of the No Man's Land storyline out there, and personally I listened to the reading of that novel as done by Graphic Audio and it is genuinely excellent! Like, the marketing may be tacky, but it is on the level of quality as something like an audio drama podcast or a Big Finish Audio. It just happens to be a book reading. :p But No Man's Land IS where Cass was first introduced, (also where Harley Quinn joined the comics universe fun fact!) and it has plenty of good moments from Barbara in it too!
As for Duke... Honestly, if you aren't already reading the Wayne Family Adventures, then you really ought to. >.< That series is available for free on webtoon and the first several strips have him as the main character before it becomes more of an ensemble cast thing. (And in case you were wondering it IS official DC media!) >.< I also haven't read much of Duke's stuff, and so in terms of his backlog, I really don't know what to recommend. The one story that I did happen to read that heavily featured Duke... Was "My Own Worst Enemy" (it's like volume 1 of All-Star Batman) which was... Fine...??? Like, as a Two-Face and Harvey Dent story, it was pretty bad and ablest in how it portrayed Harvey's DID. (But this isn't necessarily unusual for books that include him... SIIIIIGH!) But it was also incredibly stupid and fun, and had a lot of good forwards momentum and offered a number of interesting ideas that I don't entirely hate! So overall I find it... Fine... But as a Duke story... Honestly it's not bad as far as a Duke story can go! And the back-up story for that little arc (the Cursed Wheel) was pretty alright too! I do feel like after I read My Own Worst Enemy that I did understand Duke just a little better as a character! So while it's not good... You might find it to be decent in what you're looking for...? Because I really cannot speak on any other stories he's been in. >.<
So uh... Sorry about my whole limited perspective thing... But I do hope that you find some of this useful at least! I wish you the best of luck in your writing endeavors!

Formal Parties at Wayne Manor
One minor thing that always makes me roll my eyes is batfam fics where all the kids are expected to go to the Wayne Family Gala and not just go but stay for the whole evening. This is not a family party, this is a formal event. That isn't how formal parties work! Especially large ones held in the evenings! In most large formal parties, even the hosts do not bring their kids, because it is not an event designed for kids. The kids are going to be bored and unhappy at best, and disruptive at worst, and a lot of the attendees are going to be unhappy that there are kids present. And they have big enough houses that even a very large event will not fill the whole house, so the kids can stay in the family area and not have to deal with the guests, and there are staff to look after kids too young to be left alone.
If the host's kids are present at ALL, they will be present for a brief time early in the evening and then go back to their rooms and miss the rest of the event. The party in The Sound Of Music is actually a pretty good example of this. It's a large, formal party, and it's got dancing, dinner, and then (presumably) more dancing after dinner. The serious partying is going to start at dinner time. The kids are present when everybody's arriving and during the initial dancing, BUT they are not participating in the party; they are off to the side, watching it through the window. They are not in the ballroom dancing, they are not in the hall circulating with the guests and schmoozing like their father is, they are in nice outfits but NOT the formal wear that the adults are wearing. They are sent up to their rooms for the night before dinner. They have a short presentation before they go, of the "aren't our host's kids cute?" variety. Even the oldest, the sixteen year old Liesl, is too young to stay for dinner and the main party. Liesl is almost old enough to join the party, and if the Nazis hadn't come probably would have been allowed to participate in a year or so, but at sixteen she's still not old enough for the adult party.
So Damian is not going to be at the party, or not for longer than a brief "this is my son, isn't he cute" moment at the beginning. Tim and Steph and Duke probably aren't going to be at the party unless you're writing them as 18 or older. Jason would never have attended a gala before he died (except for a brief "this is my son, isn't he cute" appearance). If Dick is an adult, then he's old enough to attend ... but given how rocky his relationship with Bruce was when he came of age and moved out, he might not have been to very many of them.
Now, less formal events, they might have attended; they might have attended formal day events like garden parties. But even with day events or less formal events, they probably didn't attend many things that weren't specifically events for children. Because rich people usually don't bring their kids to events unless the events are specifically for children.
If you want something more realistic, you could have the kids doing something fun while Bruce (and possibly Dick) are stuck in the ballroom. Whether that fun is patrolling and foiling a criminal scheme or having a movie night or finding hiding places to watch the party and make fun of what people are wearing, there are a lot of options. Or maybe Bruce has a radio on so he can listen for danger to see if he needs to go change into the Batsuit, and the kids try and say the most outrageous things through it to try and get him to break character. There's lots of ways to handle it! And at this point, "the kids attend a gala" is a fandom trope, it's not going anywhere. It just makes me shake my head when I see it.

Stardew Bachelor/ette’s as Mean Girls (2024) characters
A/N: i recently watched the new mean girls musical movie and it wasn’t as bad as people were saying it was. Like the singing and the songs were good, the cast fit their characters(except for Aaron’s actor sorry I feel like they could’ve gotten someone hotter but I do understand where Cady was coming from like he’s cute enough that if you’re in high school and in the same class as him at least one person would have a crush on him.) so like I do with everything I consume let’s stardew-ify it!!
Tw:mentions of bullying, cursing, sex, drugs, lmk if there’s something I missed!!
Bc: at least 4 for each
Stardew Valley Masterlist
Shane
Principal Duvall
Is tired of this shit
And teenage girls lowkey frighten him
Would yell and get everyone’s attention in the hallway bc I think he has the lungs
Would leave it to Leah to take over the assembly lmao
“Tell everyone you’re not a drug pusher PLEASE”
Elliott
Damian
While Elliott and Abigail aren’t really friends
He has the flamboyancy I feel to fit this character
Also it’s canon that all characters are bi so it’s okay for him to be in this role
Would probably have all the tea and would be as dramatic as Damian
“She doesn’t even go here?????”
He just seems bestie type
Alex
Aaron Samuels(is that his last name?)
I think this is as obvious as who Regina is.
I don’t think he’s as smart as Aaron is, BUT is popular enough to make Haley want to have some claim over him.
And is cute enough that new girls will immediately have a crush on him
Would actually be crushed if he got cheated on
Harvey
Kevin
The guy on the mathlete team or whatever it was called
Mostly because he’s smart and I do think he would’ve been in some nerdy ass club as a kid
Also at high school college point I do think he would’ve gone through a slightly edgy phase of being a nerd that talks about getting bitches all the time
Would want Maru on the team
Leah
Ms.Norbury
Because I think it’s funny
Like out of all of them Leah would be the one to be called a drug pusher
Like I personally think she smokes weed or eats like weed salads or something
And personally I think she’s above all of the drama of mean girls
Would gather everyone and be like WTF is wrong with y’all we are better than this.
Emily
Karen
Now don’t get me wrong Emily isn’t as dumb as Karen at all
BUT they both have this daydream-y airheadedness about them
And I don’t mean airhead as in stupid either, just more….in outer space than other people if you know what I mean
Like always in their own head
Don’t care about what others think to an extent
If you think about it she fits kinda
Somehow finds herself in the drama even though she’s just been daydreaming this entire time
Maru
Cady Herron
Listen I don’t think Maru would have the balls to do what Cady did
But they both are insanely smart and I can see Maru falling in love with any boy in her class that gives her attention
Would tell someone they aren’t as smart as they thought they were while drunk
She is in calculust yall
Penny
Gretchen Wieners
In the movie Gretchen is very insecure and just wants to be the best friend she can be even if it’s by helping Regina bully others
And at some point turns on Regina because she’s had enough
And is quiet enough to be overlooked as the pretty friend of the popular one
Meek and accepting like Gretchen is
Literally just wants to fit in
Abigail
Janis
I went between her and Leah for this but I think Abigail fits this role more
I think it’s more about style Janis always has a punk rock look about her and Abigail is emo/goth/punk
And while she isn’t autistic I think she is more likely to be called a pyro-Les than Leah is.
Abigail is just the right amount of unhinged to be Janis
Haley
Regina George
Come on this was the most obvious thing about this list
Like actually blonde, gives off bully vibes
Would take over a school and is probably rich.
Would be an absolute bitch and be mean to people then throw a fit when it turns around on her.
Tell me who “world burn” and “introducing the plastics” fits more. I’ll wait.
Unfortunately there aren’t enough characters so Seb and Sam don’t get anyone to themselves but I think both have the energy to fit both Aaron and Damian. Like both are total cuties that anyone would have a crush on even though seb is intimidating and introverted. And both I feel like would have the sass and bestie vibes of Damian so both could be both oof
