first something for Paz

“That sounds good, no?”

Paz hesitates. Compared to everything else she has experienced, Price’s welcome can be considered a warm one. Kyle has been slowly warming up to her, too. So much so that they’re on a first name basis now.

However, her stomach churns when she thinks of Ghost and his complaints to Price she overheard. She swallows hard. The lump in her throat stuck just like the word in her mind that he’d used for her; terrorist.

second is for Irene!

The soft evening breeze brushes over her arms and gently caresses her cheeks, drying her tears in the process. The resulting coldness soothes her but not enough to make that ache in her heart stop.

Sunflower fields on the other side of the road lightly swing back and forth to the rhythm of the wind. She hasn’t seen them in so long. The bright yellow petals of the flowers had always been her favourite colour when she was younger. Now, they remind Irene of what she has lost. Too much has happened to still live in denial. She misses the boy.

just got a tumblr emporium ad for fucking crab day t shirts and

okay. listen. i neither like nor respect the crab day movement and its op. but tumblr has GOT to stop shamelessly immediately grabbing popular posts to turn around and make merch out of them. it was tacky when the store started selling merch based off of ancient foundational tumblr memes like the Presidential Shoelaces post or whatever, but it was ~fine~ largely because lots of the blogs that made those posts are long since deactivated and there’s no one to ask for permission. but when they start taking content from recent posts with bloggers who are very much still active it is absolutely scummy and unacceptable, even if the poster’s interests align with the site’s. it makes it PAINFULLY obvious the extent to which they’re ignoring criticism – calls to treat their trans users better and fix very basic issues – because they have NO problem listening to people when it suddenly aligns with their interests.

Tumblr should give you an option to make a note for yourself about why you blocked someone. Sometimes I check my blocklist and find perfectly normal blogs like ??? were they really annoying to see all the time in a tag search or did they spam a personal vent post with suicide bait?

It feels like I’m at a park watching a toddler eat rocks because they saw another kid do it. I’m not responsible for that kid, but I sure as hell don’t want to be around when the ambulance shows up and the parent is crying about how they had no idea eating rocks wasn’t good for a kid. the other kids all died but they thought it was just a coincidence or that they’re kid was built different.

Except the parent is multiple adults with college education looking at strategies that burned every other social media site to the ground and they’re all nodding and saying yes this is great. the light your child on fire strategy helped Twitter stay popular look at all the attention it’s getting. let’s do that - I’m sure there’s no way this could be detrimental to the child’s health or how we’re perceived by the child.
