some might argue that he should be. the talent he's been blessed with, the opportunities that came with it – but what none of those whiny little piss-ants seem to understand is that those things weren't given to him. he worked for them. hours on the court, practicing with samu, competing against him. drills, endless fucking drills, running til he puked, set after set after set, serve after serve after serve until he was practically fuckin' flawless.

he won't be grateful for his teammates, or his coaches, not even for samu. they worked their asses off to get where they are, too, and samu– samu's his other half. a part of him. it'd be like being grateful for his right foot or grateful for his lungs.

you certainly didn't trip and just fall into their laps – onto your knees, pretty mouth begrudgingly parted – back then, either. never let it be said that he and osamu half ass these things.

but as the girl behind the counter lays out her tray, glittering, shiny – expensive – pieces splayed out to show him, atsumu decides that maybe he has to rethink that.

osamu's not wrong, exactly. he isn't in love with ame, some days he can't stand her. she's fucking annoying at the best of times. ame's not the end goal here – more of a means to that end – but he's not gonna sit and pretend he's not kinda looking forward to breaking her heart and kicking her to the kerb.

but if ame's been good for one thing – if he's grateful to her for anything – it's that she making all this so damn easy.

always chattering, giggling, smiling, bulldozing over your worries and fears. not that you told her the full truth. he doubts that even she'd be able to overlook that, but you told her enough that would've raised some serious red flags with anyone else.

not ame. not his girlfriend. your best friend, supposedly.

what's there to worry about? he and samu, they've grown up since high school, matured, lost that mean streak of theirs. she's so in love with the idea of him that she can't even imagine the atsumu you're intimately familiar with.

he almost died laughing when, at dinner the other night, she'd bashfully admitted to wanting to play a little matchmaker with you and osamu over the weekend. like he and samu haven't already seen you naked, fucked you – claimed you as theirs in every way that counts.

and sure, you've always been easy enough to manipulate to where they want you. even without ame this reprieve of yours was only ever gonna be a temporary thing – til they got their shit together, at least – but fuck it all if she wasn't going out of her way to make it a nice, smooth transition.

he glances up at the sales girl, a grin already taking shape. 'the earrings.' he says, jabbing a finger at the diamonds, 'i'll take 'em.'

she deserves something nice, considering he's just so damn grateful for her help in all of this.

trying to wrap my head around WHY gojo had to die but all i can think of is how the story literally came to a standstill when he was in the prison realm. how they all fought to get him out of the box bc he's the strongest, he's gojo satoru, he's their savior.

and then gege just threw in a 2 month time skip, a bland shonen fight scene (i stand by it being bland! throwing in fancy techniques =/= a strong fight scene. this fight was poor executed in that it lacked meaning on both sides. maybe if we saw megumi tear up or gojo react in some way to his students and megumi...) just to kill him off at the end.

what i don't get is why he had to come out of the box for that? the main characters developed really well when he was in the box, to the point where i thought we were going to get an all out fight with yuji, yuuta, maki, AND gojo against sukuna; this would've been a cool full circle moment with gojo's goal being accomplished before he died. then, he would've died knowing that he isn't the sole strongest.

(that's the kind of meaning geto was looking for too, i think)

but the way it's being done now, it feels like we're just gearing up for another gojo level up? (also who is kashimo i'm all for jjk's power system but WHEN will we get to see nobara's tomonari and yuuji's new cursed technique and even yuuta and his absolutely op copycat technique again???)

idk it feels like we're erasing the entire culling games arc and all the progress we made during it just to get to where we are now... gege please explain what are we thinking...

like? they spent multiple arcs trying to save him, thinking he’d be their savior, and it didn’t pay off at all 😭 there are effective ways to build up a tragic character storyline and a “you’re best is never enough” theme! this isn’t it! had the wait been shorter, and had we been given a couple panels of gojo and his thoughts in the prison realm, then maybe it would’ve worked, probably loosely. but even then, this is an event-based plot driven story that keeps moving forward and the trajectory gege set in the beginning doesn’t line up with where we’re at now. sure, the existential nature vs. nurture theme is still there (gege really wedged in that “are u strong, or strong are u?” question to salvage some consistency), but the development of everything we’ve watched bloom is thrown away for…what? a quintessential shounen fight to live up to other shounens? a “PEAK” battle that’s rushed?? gege used to be so good at drawing circles closed, but it’s been confusing loops these days.

(oh, and i viscerally feel you. many people praise the technicalities and powerscaling of this arc, but just like the recent writing, gege’s power system isn’t consistent. and even if it was completely consistent per character and per CT and understandable as a whole, fight scenes without “meat” to them lack story! i wanted see more characterization! i wanted to see that the battle went deeper than surface-level! fifteen chapters of cyclical back-and-forths with barely anything else to pay attention to is boring…if gege wanted to keep every reader engaged, he should’ve added sukuna’s characterization during his fight with gojo. and if he really wanted to land that tragic character storyline for gojo, he should’ve added more scenes of gojo’s introspection and inner-conflict, or at least a thought process we could follow. as it is now, ending him like that betrays the trajectory for growth gege set for him in the beginning.)

My honest opinion on the FNaF movie

(I'm sorry if anything is wrong, It's 2 a.m. rn but I need to get this off my chest)

BEFORE WE START: I will admit that I'm 100% biased, I grew up with FNaF and never thought I'd ever see this movie for multiple reasons, so actually sitting in the theater and watching this beautiful disaster unfold was a truly magical experience. I cried during the credits so yeah. With that being said:

1. The spoiler-free part

Ok there are some things we need to lay out right from the getgo

1) This movie caters to:

a) fans who want to see a somewhat new yet familiar story in the FNaF universe

b) casuals who aren't immediately dismissive of everything that's happening and actually TRY to give this shit a chance

2) It's no secret that they changed many things in the story and if you genuinely thought they would adapt the games 1 by 1 you are just delulu I'm sorry

Overall, I personally really liked the movie and I would recommend it. It had many little easter eggs for hardcore fans and a story that pretty much anyone can understand

2. The spoiler-heavy part

(aka pretty much everything important)

Alright, let's talk about the most controversial part:

The Afton children aren't the Afton children anymore.

So Mike Schmidt, who we know is Michael Afton under a fake name in the games, is in the movie literally just Mike Schmidt. Some guy.

Garett, this movie's version of the crying child, is Williams' first victim, not his child who was killed by accident.

Abby, who would technically speaking be the movie equivalent of Elizabeth, has also no connection to Afton.

AND VANESSA, who we met in AR, Help Wanted, and Security Breach, is Williams' only child??

Yeah it's kinda fucked.

HOWEVER, I do think that this is an amazing way to include all the important characters in some way.

If we had told the actual story of the Afton children, eg. the crying child and Elizabeth dying, this would have pretty much meant that everything else in the story had to be adapted too for everything to make sense which is simply impossible. Like straight up.

So writing a new story including all the past protagonists is a very logical decision (+ I'm pretty sure that there was a theory that Vanessa is some sort of Elizabeth reincarnation even though I think that it was disproven very quickly but yeah, there's that)

BUT this story change leaves one big plot hole:

Why the fuck is William Afton a murderer??

He went insane in the game after his son died which led to him killing Charlie (daughter of Henry) out of spite in a drunken rage afterward.

In this movie, he's just a little goofy and funny and kills children for fun, whatever ig

And yes, the fort scene might have been a teeny tiny bit cringe but I mean, these are dead 10 year-olds so their request is pretty legit tbh. "Why don't these kids grow up 🙄" IDK MAYBE CAUSE THEY ARE DEAD?? BFFR

And everything, I mean fucking everything, is better than a "Let's go Fazgang!!!"-scene

BUT WHY ON EARTH DOES THE CUPCAKE HAVE SO MUCH SCREENTIME?? What the fuck 😭

OH I FORGOT the opening scene in the arcade-minigame style was magnificent 💞

I also would've liked that Williams' death would've been a little bit more violent, it was a little too soft. And I also don't get why he was "killed by the cupcake" and not through a malfunction caused by water like it was in the game?? It would've worked just fine. However, since the movie is rated pg13 in some countries (16 here) it's understandable that it isn't too brutal

And, let's be honest: the movie was carried by Matt, TLT, and Cory

But I love the little easter eggs?? Dream theory, the FNaF World Rainbow, it's so cool I loved it

I absolutely loved it, I knew that I would see something very not canon and something new and probably kinda stupid but I still thought it was beautiful and enjoyable and I would die on this hill if I had to

Allison is back from the dead and somehow stays alive by the end of the movie as if that's not unnatural af !!! Like she's a human? how is that a thing? why did they do this? I love Allison, I really do but her coming back to life and not being laid back to rest by the end of the movie was so psycho and bizarre. Idk why they made that choice but I hated it

Derek apparently had a child 15 years ago and Allison died 15 years ago so somehow he had a child in season 3? When? When would he have time to do that? He was literally with Jennifer that season 🤨 so when did he make this kid who he seemed to have always been in the life of ? the math isn't mathing. ik teen wolf math sometimes doesn't make sense but I excused it bc I like the show but since I hate this fucking movie I will not excuse it. Jeff Davis tell me how the fuck Derek somehow had a kid in season 3!?

Who is the mother of Derek's child? (We all know that Stiles is the other parent) but fr why is she not mentioned at fucking all??? like it felt so unnatural, like they were specifically talking around it or some shit. I swear Eli never even says the word mom once!! how? why do they act like she doesn't exist? at this point I'm gonna assume Derek made this child asexually through budding or some shit cus wtf

IK Dylan O didn't want to be in the movie but they didn't have to do everything in their power to pretend Stiles didn't exist. The only references to him were the Jeep and Lydia's dumb dream. It made it seem like Stiles doesn't keep up with them anymore and that they don't keep up with him, and that's including his fucking dad. It's so unnatural and ew. I'm also very sad that Kira wasn't here but ik why Arden didn't want to do it. Fuck Jeff tbh. Kira was barely mentioned also, I don't think they EVER said anything about her at all. It's giving Jeff is bitter or smth.

This movie dragged so bad, it was boring as shit and I struggled to get to the 2 hour mark. It was actually painful for me to watch . I wanted to skip through every scene basically, trying to get to SOMETHING interesting, but it was rare that anything like that was going on

Some of the style choices were weird. The clothes they had Deaton in weren't right, it didn't feel like something he'd wear at all. Also so weird to see Chris in a turtleneck, idk if he's worn one before but it looked weird. Peter ate though, I have to give them that.

WHY WOULD MASON BE A FUCKING COP? What about him screams cop? 😐 He should be working with Melissa at the hospital or doing LITERALLY ANYTHING ELSE.

Parrish and Malia 😐 disgusting. He knew her as a teen!!! like hello?? that's weird af! I already hated him and Lydia, bc why is he going after a freshly turned 18 y/o and I was hoping that the writers would know better by now then to do this weird shit but obviously they didn't

What exactly was Harris back for? He barely explained what happened to him or what he knew? It was dumb. If they left him out, I don't think it would've impacted the movie or what we know about Harris at all. Also, I don't remember if they explained but why was he alive anyway?

Some of the sets were very ugg and didn't feel like teen wolf at all

Peter sniffing the ground like a dog ☠️☠️☠️ SO UGLY 😭 but so hilarious, best scene hands down

seeing clips from the tv show made me wanna take the shit off my screen and put on the real show

on the one hand, what else is she going to say? she'd never denounce it outright, she's a producer (and i've heard nothing but horror stories about that movie from the 80s 😭 so i would imagine anything would be an improvement! and this will be very streamlined in comparison to that mess too). and on the other hand, if she's satisfied, it's her story, whether anyone wants to engage with that or not, so she has the right to her opinion and support of it.

my issue at the moment is there's absolutely no way to win in this because of the utter lack of nuance or comprehension happening in the conversation, this movie will be used as a weapon no matter what and that...is exhausting and saddening and disrespectful to everyone involved. idk.

that said, to my other anon who mentioned this and the dubious "docuseries" (lol, again, alanna n*sh, currie, and suzanne are all liars and trash, much like the wests and the stanleys and countless other hangers-on and questionable people, there is really no reason to give them air or brain space), people have been trying to tear him down and "cancel" him literally since he first came on the scene in the 50s. the puritanical, and frankly hysterical (and we could unpack the multiple motives for this from the press, from classism to repression to censorship even to latent racism and fear), damaging reactions to him have always swirled and been magnified way out of proportion, it shadowed his entire life, it bled across the edges of his death (where it also became shaming and ableism), it's persisted in chimeric forms in every decade, for whoever wanted to twist him, for whoever wanted to misuse him as a mirror for society's seeming erosion and perceived sins. it's a distortion. we can't change these malformed opinions, but why should we listen to them? they're so irrelevant to why he matters to us.

notice how none of that has ever stuck nor stopped people from loving him nor dimmed his light and voice. we could argue in circles forever about his flaws and mistakes, his temper, his misjudgments, but what is ultimately the POINT?! why do that? to him, to ourselves? what could possibly come of that that's worth anything? it's not a fulfilling use of time or energy, and he wouldn't even want us fighting those battles (he knew he wasn't perfect, but a lot of these things are topics he wouldn't have wanted fans endlessly arguing about at all). he doesn't get the opportunity to tell his story in his own words, so we've become keepers of that flame in many ways. the good he gave then and still gives us now is what lasts.

i know cilla's book is hotly debated, i know it's difficult, i know she's mentioned that some things she wishes she had stated differently or explained better, she's spent 38 years post-publication continuing to give talks about him and do legacy work, and while she's not perfect either and has made her own missteps (please remember these are complicated human beings!), i don't believe someone intent on ruining him (??? she always notes how dearly they loved each other), or on exploiting him only for money (even apart from graceland and the estate, she's been at the forefront of preserving and championing his music and his artistic gifts many times), would've kept her life wrapped up in this the way she has. that doesn't mean anyone is obligated to like her or to like this project, but the rancid hatred being directed from both sides is absurd (the E haters in this are truly unhinged and don't know what the hell they're talking about, and they are NOT priscilla fans! they're invalidating her own words and life! they're just transparent, uninformed losers brandishing pitchforks because they can). it's undermining to both of them and dismissive of the bond they continued to share even after their divorce. i don't always agree with her (i don't agree with him on everything! i could also talk extensively about a lot of underlying issues i feel were constantly going on with him, and he needed far better treatment and support than what he had, or what even existed at the time, but that's a separate conversation. both illness and trauma have adverse effects).

i get losing interest in the free series after utsumi left because its the same for me. S3 was just shit and the writers didn't care about writing a story, just wanted a way to force every character to have a role in the series and neglected the main characters. high speed was eh but i enjoyed my RH angst. the movies had potential but execution wasn't good. i enjoyed my RH moments but i know utsumi would've made those moments even better. its a shame since i dont care about her new series SK8.

This is more or less how I feel too, and I feel terrible for saying it because I've been trying to keep it to myself all these years 😭 But I think it's time to let it all out.

I think the current Free! stopped working for me because when I watch it, I don't find in it the same heart that blindsided me when I watched S1. And it's funny you mention SK8, because I don't care for it either, but a friend forced me to watch it, and it had heart. By the time I was done watching it, I couldn't help but feel sad. Because you're right anon, Utsumi would've taken Rin and Haru so, so much further if only she kept working on Free!

I know Utsumi had her issues, the biggest one (for me) being how neatly separated she kept the Samezuka and Iwatobi storylines until it was time for the RH climax. Which was kind of ridiculous because they lived in a small ass town and they all knew each other.

But I feel like the new team has the exact opposite problem.

We have a bazillion characters in a huge city but they keep running into each other for no reason whatsoever, simply so KyoAni can say that every single character interacted with each other at least once. Characters run into each other into the middle of nowhere, literally materialize into each other's cars for no apparent reason, every time Haru breathes you have 15 different characters talking about it without really contributing anything... it's all so disingenuous?

It's like the franchise has become a merchandise-selling machine, so they go out of their way to create scenarios that will allow them to sell merch of 50 different combinations of cute dudes. And they achieve this by doing the same thing over and over again except slightly different each time, because if it worked for Utsumi it'll work for them. And this is an issue that's been there since S3, which honestly had zero originality, but sadly the last two movies failed to fix this for me.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the RH from the last two movies as much as anyone else. There was some genuinely brilliant stuff there, like all the imagery with the level crossings stopping Haru from reaching Rin? Imagery that they've been using since the S3 opening? That was fantastic and it had me in tears. Haru trying to tell Rin that he wants to keep swimming by his side forever? The literal marriage proposal I've been waiting for since S1, because this is as close to a confession as one can get in Haru-speak. Haru thinking of Rin when he is asked about what changed his life? Stunning, breathtaking. Rin admitting that he has been deliberately playing dumb about Haru's feelings? A huge game-changer that literally had me stopping and staring because holy shit the fanfic potential for that line alone is astronomical. Probably the best line in the entire movie for me because it's the one thing that felt genuinely new.

And that's the thing, because the rest—while great, because RH has always elevated the story and that will never change—felt... terribly safe? It's like they didn't dare to do too much, so they just rehashed stuff that's already happened in S1 and S2. Rin hugs Haru? Already did it in S1. It'd have been incredible if we finally had Haru initiating a hug, but nope they don't dare to go beyond what Utsumi already did. Rin tells Haru he admires him? Already did it in S2. Haru tells Rin he taught him lots of important things? Already happened in S1. There are SO many things Haru has yet to tell Rin, you could fill an entire phonebook with it. But instead of everything Haru has yet to tell Rin, they chose to have him say... one of the few things he has already told him? Why??

It’s like they don’t dare to go out of the dotted lines Utsumi already traced, so instead they just end up adding the same colors over and over again. And Rin and Haru do end up globetrotting together, but... we already knew they would? That’s never been at stake. The important thing was to see how they got there, but they wasted an entire movie on drama that they resolved within the first 30 mins of this second movie, only to then add even more drama in the form of Haru getting injured.

The movies should have been about Haru and Rin getting used to the professional world and getting to form a relay team. Instead the relay team is a second thought and formed in a rush. And for what? The drama felt like it was there only for the sake of drama, because the conclusion Haru reaches after all of that is just a combination between this S1 and S2 conclusions. The main difference is that S1 and S2 alternated between showing and telling, while now we get some forced showing so they can do the telling.

So while there's some really cool stuff there and I am and will always be happy that RH got their happy ending, the last stretch of Free! just really pales in comparison to S1 and S2 for me 😭

Maybe I'm naive but I could have never imagined it was a thing before coming back to fandom spaces - you aren't the first author I see pointing out this behavior from readers on the site .. I think it's just insane how people can be so gratuitously rude (and allow me to add tasteless. the 3/10 was definitely personal).

I've also seen your more recent posts about not wanting to write the next Gojo scenes in ddao (tbh i get that. he is the character I struggle to write the most & in general .. he is the hind of person he is yk what I'm saying 😂) but I'm glad you're finding some motivation to work through it! please stay strong 😂!! What do you think is the hardest thing abt them for you? As a writer, or personally, either point of view is fine! is it anything in particular like the dialogue .. any part of the writing process, or is it him in general (that would be an incredibly valid answer too 😂)? I personally find him pretty hard to write - it's likely a personal limit, but especially when some kind of romance or pining is involved. I mean the dynamics are probably already going to be some flavor of messed up and chaotic when he's in the picture (especially with Geto) .. hence why I think if I was in rip!mc's shoes i think I wouldn't have survived the mess 💀. He definitely wouldn't be helpful at all in such situation .. Geto is just so much better at presenting and promoting himself to others than Gojo is, despite being equally messy and messed up behind the facade. Which is a fairly obvious statement. But what makes him hard to deal with is the fact I think Gojo would likely open his mouth and say something outta pocket/offensive and/or misleading about his feelings and then act frustrated about how you can't see he's insanely pathetic about you. He might even think he's being obvious but he's actually being insufferable and in a way that would make anyone's brain hurt lmao. As of now, I think he somewhat tends to erroneously apply the same logic he applied to his relationship with Geto - except it's obvious their case was an exception to the rule (hence why he just creates more chaos and misunderstanding) .. he regarded him as a peer more than he did with anyone else,, and I also think Geto was more used to his bullshit than anyone else could be (re: your manipulation tactics post .. their love language is psychological warfare. so true). But this is my take and it's likely not 100% correct so I'd love to hear your thoughts if you wish to share any! I've actually been loving your characterization of him. It's been refreshing in the sense that I think especially a Geto stays!AU Gojo but also in general a younger version Gojo would've been a pain to be around and I think you really delivered that feeling well!

Also - I love every time you get a message with people telling you abt how you turned them into Geto fuckers. As a Geto hater (i want .. to kiss .. him ......) I can safely say I did that to myself too - it's inevitable. I started writing for him because I wanted to get rid of the thoughts but it backfired. with gojo it's not rlly him that's difficult i think im just finding it increasingly difficult to write for a character that im not as personally invested in. at this point writing gojo is more of a habit than anything. i've been writing him for ages so i know the way i want to write his character and everything about how i characterize him so it's mostly free sailing now!!!!! im actually really excited for the expanded HI arc in the anime so i can recontextualize my fics through the added info and sashisu interactions in the anime!!!!!!

oh yeah i think gojo is definitely a bit blind to the nuances of other people and/or considerate in a way that comes off as inconsiderate (his treatment of ijichi). also he and geto just.....fell in love. and i like to think falling in love with each other was even easier than becoming friends. one day it just clicked. they understood that they loved each other the entire time so there was no need for an extended courtship. i think in regards to stsg's relationship there really was no big change. a lot of things actually stayed the same lmfao.

ripmc is difficult because she actually needs like....articulation of their feelings and something more than just patience. softness maybe. also where geto just intrinsically understands, the last thing gojo actually wants is to detail every single thing he loves about not just rip!mc but geto too. geto probably teases it out of him anyway LMAO gojo is still kinda mortified at his early behavior and treatment towards rip!mc although he has apologized for his antagonism. i just KNOW it keeps him up at night 😭😭😭😭😭😭 he's still growing out of his immaturity. geto never left. the blue spring goes on for longer. he gets to be a teenager for a little longer. you know!!!!!

Like first of all, Seiya can only say that because he knows the truth already and honestly, was undermining anything Aioria had to suffer, that led him to hate his brother in the first place. I wouldn't imagine that Aioria would believe it right away either but just never receiving any clarification of it for over 13 years, you're bound to give up especially when people treat you badly because of something someone else did. And there was literally no evidence Aioria could've found to contradict those points other than just simply knowing who Aiolos is as a person which basically gets so warped on him anyways that how could he ever believe if the good in him was real if it's said that he tried to kill Athena? Like you have to really look at how those events go before you can say shit like that honestly, it's not easy to "believe in your heart" when you get all the consequences of their actions dumped onto you

Then thinking of how it's basically escalated up to 11 in the reboot kotz show, where he gets mind-controlled and it's his fault? Milo's like "Don't you realize the Pope weeped when he mind-controlled you against your will to unknowingly murder people because he was afraid of you betraying us? idk if it makes it better or worse that I actually based this around the trenches of WW1 ngl 💀 like, Max is willing to commit the ultimate sacrifice for his s/o who, in turn, is willing to commit very much the same for him - but they're both stuck in this situation where the ultimate sacrifice isn't worth the cost to the other person. the reader's humanity, their heart, even their soul is trusted to Max bc they know that no matter what, Max will keep it safe - so for him to "die", for him to abandon them and leave them heartless, soulless, inhuman is for him to break that in very much the same way that war breaks everything around it. the reader's calling is very much a sign of just how MUCH they need Max with them, and how the two compliment each other and make one another have strength when everything else seems to be making them the opposite. without Max, the reader would just give up; without the reader, Max would give up.

An Unwelcome Distraction

reader is a little bit of a slut, just taking one look at Max and going "right. gotta flirt. gotta be a little bit cheeky." fjgldkfkskg slut behaviour!!!

"security" Max is just doing everything he can to DENY that he thinks they're attractive bc even tho they don't see it, Max feels like he's too broken, too far gone to even entertain the idea of flirting back; he likes them, sure, he doesn't want to admit it but he's entertained by their advances and flirting - but in his mind, they're too GOOD for him. the tactician is too respected, too whole, too good.

we've gone from having the slutty button pop to the slutty unzipped jacket and we'll sure enough see both again soon enough 💀💀💀 Max knows what they're doing, that's why he's not being TOO much of an ass about it - he does find it entertaining and he does like the tactician. but he just needs to understand that they're looking at him DIFFERENTLY to how he sees himself; he's not broken and jaded and too far gone, not in their eyes. he needs to give himself a little credit.

Mutual Protection

we normally see Eddie being the possessive and protective one, but reader came out SWINGING and GUNNING in Eddie's defence bc at the end of the stay, Eddie was the one who stayed. he was the one who was there for them and he was the one who routinely showed up the way that a significant other SHOULD. Eddie knows EXACTLY what Logan did to them, and he isn't happy about it bc why should he be? Logan treated them like shit! but the reader is over it... until Logan chats shit about Eddie and then suddenly, it's a different story altogether. reader is literally squaring up to a guy who is named after one of the most vicious animals on the planet and has fucking metal bones - LIKE IT'S NOTHING!!!! reader is gonna kick ass... or at least would, if Eddie wasn't there to stop them going too far.

The Imperfect Couple

DAMN EDDIE AND HIS IRRESISTIBLE PUPPY DOG EYES 😭 he just goes 🥺 and suddenly reader will give him whatever the fuck he wants, no questions asked. ultimate weapon. but reader loves him for that, as well as everything else, they really do absolutely adore and love him as much as he adores and loves them in return; they're happy together, and they want to be together even if being together means sitting on opposite sides of the room doing two different things - even if it means sitting right next to each other but not talking or even focusing on each other. just existing around each other. they really, really do love each other.

Fire

reader and Forrest compliment each other quite naturally; reader's temper is brash and quick, it's the snap of a finger. the bite of a dog. it's the slash of a blade. but Forrest's is subtle and slow, it's the hidden whisper of a tiger's growl. the circling of a shark's dorsal fin. it's the rumble of the earth before an earthquake. yet, all the same - they have this incredibly deep and passionate affection, respect, and love for each other; they compliment each other at every turn, not necessarily making the other a whole person, but certainly complimenting what's best about their personalities and themselves overall. they really, really, love each other and Forrest would 1000000% put anyone through the wringer and then some if they so much as split an end of a singular heart strand.

Even If I Could

Forrest really, really traumatised by what happened, but who wouldn't be? dissociation and flashbacks and anxiety is probably the most tame experiences stemming from that amount of trauma, tbh. but he still just can't find it in himself to be honest and open about what he's going through w his s/o bc he's just... not that type of guy, even tho it's causing him more damage to be like that. they're very much in sync though, they really do go together really well bc the reader doesn't expect Forrest to be 100% happy and fine all the time and doesn't force him to speak - and in return, Forrest is just grateful that they continue to stick around and give him someone to listen to, someone whose heartbeat and breath he can feel when he needs a reminder of what's real. they go together like... jam and cheese!

Something Is Always Better Than Nothing

they're so scared and so anxious, like, they don't really feel like they can be safe ANYWHERE, but it's once they actually realise that, "oh, wait, I'm with Tommy - I'm okay", that's when they kinda settle down. they know Tommy's protective, that he's supportive and he's affectionate towards them. they know that he's a safe person to be around. Tommy also recognises what they're going through, and he knows that the best way to deal w it is to allow the reader to just take things in their own time; to just let them do things when they feel up to it, and he's willing to give them that patience and that time as much as he can. he's willing to keep being a safe person.

Protection

James has 100% been in that situation w the reader before, Brace has already provided them w some sort of familial and platonic love to rely on and to keep themselves propped up a bit, so James has definitely been there as well. the only difference is that, this time? he's not going anywhere. he's got Brace and Lorna to back him up and to help him keep his s/o safe and secure and he KNOWS that bc he's not stupid. he knows that the reader is better off with them, regardless. and he's willing to do ANYTHING for them.

Still There

PUPPY DOG 😭😭😭 he's been through so much and been denied so much basic human touch and kindness, but he KNOWS that he can get it regularly from the person he loves most in the world and he's aware that he can get it whenever and that the reader is more than happy to give him an endless supply. he definitely picks up more on the feelings of others bc of what he's been through, he's learned how to read moods and demeanours better than most people bc of the things he's been through, so he can read his s/o like an open book without even thinking about it ESPECIALLY bc he trusts and loves them.
