lee dongsik was the first person to ever, ever say out loud and explicitly that han joowon was different from his father. han joowon, boosted and burdened by his father's reputation, who walked into the story having never known a version of himself that was just "han joowon" and not "han joowon, son of han kihwan", who did a terrible job of hiding his resentment of his father, who miserably failed to pretend that being his father's son didn't bother him. who walked into the story desperately wanting to be something more than han kihwan's child, wanting to be something he could call his own. hating every mention of his father's name, hating the blood that tied him to han kihwan. all his life he'd only ever been his father's son, and then while he was away, dongsik said to jihwa—to us, the audience—i don't think he's like that. no, i don't think he's like his father at all. dongsik says, nothing about him is from his father. don't you understand? all of him is han joowon.
han joowon, who lived his whole life only knowing a version of himself tied to his father, met someone who, in spite of everything, didn't care. after the big revelation, when joowon went down on his knees before dongsik and said he would go to hell for dongsik's sake—sins of the father will be visited upon the son and all that—it was dongsik who pulled a chair up to him in ep16 after joowon nearly ruined his own life to protect him. it was dongsik who, after joowon apologized to him, said: don't you ever do anything to be sorry for again. it was dongsik who, through the unbearable agony of the last few episodes, reminded joowon: you are not your father and he is not you. you want to bear the weight of your father's sins, all right. you want to drag him into hell, all right. but i won't let you go alone.
and what a way to be introduced to love. the real kind, not the fraying thread that tied joowon to his father. what a way—to meet someone who lets him make his own choices and knows when to leave him be, respects him enough to leave him be, but will never let him walk into danger alone. joowon went forth knowing that his father might destroy him for it, and dongsik let him. but what he spent the rest of the show saying with each and every one of his actions was that when joowon knelt to him and said, "i will go to hell," what dongsik responded was, "not without me." no, not without him—joowon will never be alone again.
at the very end, when joowon still couldn't help but mention his father's appeal process, it was dongsik who didn't even hesitate. just asked, "what does that have to do with you?"
what i am trying to say is that to love is to liberate. what i am trying to say is that han joowon lived 20 years of his life as an extension of his father, and when he walked out at last it was because lee dongsik lit the way.

I've just finished reading @rumpleteasa's translated character notes from Beyond Evil's official script book (thank you once again for all of your hard work 🫶🏻) and there are two details that stood out to me.
I think these were initially written in by Kim Sujin with the intent to have these expanded on the actual show as relevant to the plot, but for whatever reason was scrapped from the show, quite possibly because of lack of time.
Beyond Evil was slated to have only 16 episodes after all, so they had to compress Kim Sujin's initial script—though I think if they had more episodes, it would've been worth expanding on, if only to also spotlight these characters more and give even more depth to the story.
Nam Sangbae was in love with Han Jeongim, Jaeyi's mother
You can read the full details in the translated script book, but this specific detail, had it been expanded in the show, would've been another (and more convincing) red herring written in possibly spotlighting Nam Sangbae as a possible suspect in Han Jeongim's disappearance: a crime of passion borne out of heartbreak.
It would've also explained why Jaeyi was so terrified of Nam Sangbae after she saw him at the station the night she was also supposed to kill Kang Jinmook. There would've been more of a suspicion why Nam Sangbae wanted Kang Jinmook killed, because of the possibility that he could've been Han Jeongim's killer and wanted to silence Kang Jinmook before he could reveal the truth, much in the same way when Jinmook revealed to Dongsik that he wasn't actually his sister's killer.
2. Bang Juseon possibly tried to seduce Lee Changjin
The script book's character notes expanded on her character a little bit more and said that "she was trying to seduce some old guy who made a fortune in the development boom" in order to "give her rotten father some pocket money."
There are two "old guys" in the story who is said to have made a fortune in the development boom: Lee Changjin and Han Kihwan (through marrying into Lee Suyeon's family).
Reading the notes, it's more likely that this old guy she tried to seduce was Lee Changjin, which, had it been expanded in the story, would've also been another red herring painting Lee Changjin as her murderer.
It also now makes more sense why Kang Jinmook decided to kill her: he sees her also as somewhat of a "slut" or a "whore", which he hated seeing in women. He also hated Han Jeongim for it, his perception of these women as seductresses who need to be "punished".
If you also connect this to Nam Sangbae's character notes, it's possible also that the "man" Han Jeongim was supposed to meet up with at Mount Simu, where Kang Jinmook killed her, was in fact Nam Sangbae, who was now trying to court her and win her over again now that her husband has died.
Which, again, also would've spotlighted Nam Sangbae as further of a suspect in Kang Jinmook's death if he wanted to kill Jinmook out of heartbroken revenge.
This actually makes sense in the story too, but perhaps in the end the showrunners decided to have Sangbae focused purely on his relationship with Dongsik.
While having Sangbae focused on Dongsik had also been a good decision story-wise, I would've still also liked to have seen this backstory of his love for Jaeyi's mother play out, because it does give Sangbae more dimension and depth as a character, one who had his own heartbreaks and losses to deal with too.
And it would also explain why Sangbae was the one who had consistently established Jaeyi's butcher shop as their constant meeting place: perhaps in some way, he was also honoring Jaeyi's mother, and was also secretly hoping to find her, too.
It would also strengthen the idea of Dongsik and Jaeyi as pseudo-siblings—parallel to the pseudo-sibling relationship between Joowon and Hyeok—if Sangbae sees Jaeyi as his surrogate daughter too, out of his love for her mother, similar to how he sees Dongsik as his surrogate son.
That would've been a beautiful concept too: the parallelism of Dongsik and Jaeyi both losing their own biological families, yet somehow they have both managed to forge a new family all their own under the care of Sangbae.
2.B Bang Juseon's possible affair with Han Kihwan
This is actually the less likely scenario, but still an interesting possibility had Kim Sujin and the showrunners decided to go down this path.
Because Han Kihwan values the "image" of perfection in his life, he couldn't possibly have it revealed to the media that he had an affair with a younger woman, so when Kang Jinmook killed her, it gives him a double purpose to have the Munju case covered up because it hits two birds with one stone: his hit and run case with Lee Yuyeon, and this possible affair with Bang Juseon.
It'll also make more sense why it was both Juseon's and Yuyeon's death that were highlighted in the beginning, because of the possibility that both deaths all lead back to Han Kihwan, making him double of a Devil than he already is.
However, I can also see why, for storytelling purposes, it was whittled down to have Kihwan's sins focused on his sins against Dongsik. It gives the story more focus that way, especially with regard to Dongsik, who is the show's central lead.

dongsik would foster a bunch of dogs and cats who got taken back to the shelter for various reasons after adoption. joowon would hate it at first because animals are messy and animals with issues are even more so, but then he would come around and soften up after this one particular dog takes a liking of him and follows him everywhere in the house. and he would fall in love with dongsik all over again after seeing how caring and loving he is to the animals.

I'll wait until the show's over before getting too into it, but Tender Light is reminding me of Beyond Evil specifically in how it shows a cop becoming obsessed with his own fantasies of catching a criminal mastermind, when said mastermind is really just a guy who's been through some shit and is handling it the best he can.
Before we go any further, let me just be clear that Tender Light is not sexy about it in the way Beyond Evil is, nor should it be. The story is about the hateful, destructive force of rumor and misinterpretation, and the obsessive cop is wielding his power in a truly sinister way. I love Han Joowon, for all his many (many, many) faults. I do not love Li Fanglu. I hate him, and not in the fun way.
But as a longtime lover of mystery stories, and of Great Detective narratives in particular, I'm really enjoying seeing this story of a person who fancies himself a Great Detective but has got it all wrong, is driven by obsession and craven need rather than a commitment to truth and justice.

Love triangles
Truth be told, I’ve never been into love triangles - in fact I used to actively avoid them in the past, and still do when I’m reading fic because I hate feeling conflicted between two love interests. But somehow these stories found their way into my heart and left me utterly obsessed entranced and invested in the trope (the amount of scorching sex definitely helps 😂). So I thought I’d share these in case anyone else is looking for great stories with hot, intense, well-written triangular dynamics. Some will make you pick favorites (tell me about yours!), some are properly polyamory which is fun and refreshing to see in manga. All works are E-rated. Enjoy!

Pspspsps i heard you read bl, u wanna give me some recs?
Ohohoho. You've come to the right place
Tumblr media
So let me give you a couple and tell you a little bit about them.
1. A Man of Virtue
If you like BDSM type stories, this is for you.
Jinwoo is a (seemingly) straight man who encounters a haechi statue while drunk one night and curses his lifelong rival Sangtae before vomiting on said statue.
The next day, anytime Jinwoo comes within 5 feet of Sangtae, he gets these overwhelming, erotic, BDSM fantasies.
The two work together to figure out the cause of the fantasies, the solution, and how to get them to stop.
It's fucking HYSTERICAL.
Their dynamic is so interesting.
It's a breath of fresh air from the normal feminine, dainty bottoms most authors write about.
2. Love or Hate
If you like love triangles... boy, do I have the triangle-ist of love for you.
Haesoo is a freelance writer who often gets sucked into the drama of his former step-brother, Joowon.
The two explored their sexuality together when their parents got remarried to each other.
Haesoo, sick of waiting on Joowon to stop being a dick and admit his feelings, encounters K, a photographer from Japan known for his lewd pictures.
He is tasked with writing a piece about K and conducting an interview, but the two end up hitting it off.
Honestly, this one was kind of gut wrenching for me. The emotional turmoil Haesoo experienced throughout was hard to get through, but it has a happy ending.
This one is depressing with a bit of humor sprinkled in here and there.
If you can read about a main character who thoroughly and 100% hates himself and make it through to the end, this one is for you.
3. The Dangerous Convenience Store
AHJUICY.
Ahem.
If you like a big, seemingly emotionless top who only gets emotional about his bottom, this one is for you.
Euijoon is a college student who works at a convenience store in a terrible neighborhood riddled with gang activity.
One night, a man shows up and saves him from a rude customer. After that night, the man continues to show up at the same time to buy alcohol and cigarettes.
Euijoon, out of curiosity more than anything, becomes infatuated with this man.
The man, who has been straight his entire life (he's like 40...), is confused about his adoration for Euijoon and decides to pursue him.
This one is a helluva ride. I dont even know Ahjuicy's real name cause Euijoon calls him Ahjussi the entire comic.
There is some violence (gangs are involved, what do you expect?)
It does have a happy ending, though.
4. Hold Me Tight
If you like a more feminine top and a more masculine bottom, this is for you.
Felix is being blackmailed into becoming Giovanni's body guard all so the guy who is blackmailing him can take Gio down.
Only, Gio has a condition where he doesn't feel warmth. Even a fire would not keep him warm. He has spent many of his nights cold and wears coats and scarves in the middle of Summer.
Until he encounters Felix. He feels warmth from Felix.
With Felix's motives not being so pure, how will their relationship pan out? Especially when Gio actively seeks out his warmth.
Felix is pretty masculine for a bottom. He is a black belt.
Gio is pretty weak as a top. He owns his own company and needs constant protection.
This was a very interesting dynamic.
It was a roller coaster of emotions, but DAMN the way their relationship progressed was too damn good.
These two hold such a special place in my heart.
5. The Unquenchable Mr. Kim
This one has a bad rep. I literally only half understand the bad rep and I'll get there.
Dooyun is half vampire, half human, but he can't drink blood to survive. In fact, eating doesn't even help him survive. He has to obtain a humans "essence" in order to stay alive. If he doesn't, he gets very sick and could die.
How do you obtain this essence, you ask? Guess. 😉
So anyway, his boss, Kangwoo, offers him a proposition after Dooyun accidentally sends him a message about finding a new sex partner. The message was supposed to go to someone else.
The only problem? Kangwoo's essence isn't strong enough to keep Dooyun alive.
As the two fall for each other, how will Dooyun survive???
The smut is A fucking PLUS.
The art isn't very good in the beginning, but it gets SO beautiful by the end.
The reason it has a bad rep has a lot to do with two important characters that were very poorly executed. It's only 65 chapters, but the author could have stretched it to over 100 so easily. As an author myself, I can overlook poorly executed characters in favor of a good storyline.
These are all finished works that I really enjoyed. Special mentions also include BJ Alex, Insecret (about an idol group), Hold Me Safe, Love So Pure, In My Closet (also about an idol group), A Life Without You, My Way With You, and Cherry Blossoms After Winter.
Ongoing works that I am currently reading (the list is long, so prepare yourself) includes: Pearl Boy, Under The Greenlight, Jinx, Steel Under Silk, Painter of the Night, Again, Low Tide in Twilight (omegaverse), Limited Run, Speak of the Devil, The Pawn's Revenge, Aporia, The Pizza Delivery Man and the Gold Palace, Opposites Attract, Anemone Theater, The Ghost's Nocturne, Stranger Than Friends, Checkmate, Mad Place, Semantic Error, Liveta (HEAVY ON THIS ONE. It's on hiatus but I have NEVER seen world building this good), Payback, It's Just A Dream... Right?! (Heavy on this one too. The top is DREAMY.), The Words in Your Snare, Don't Build My Hopes Up (this one made me realize I have major trust issues, lmao), Punch Drunk Love, Missing Love (this one is not for the faint of heart. It is DARK.), You Get Me Going.
I keep track of what I have read with ratings and comments in a notebook. I was thinking of transferring the data to my computer and posting it sometime. I've read over 70 works so far with a lot of ongoing works. I'd be so incredibly happy to share.
There are some works that I have finished that I didn't really care for. There are also a couple of works that I am reading that are ongoing that just don't have enough oomf to be mentioned here. I have dropped one that I won't even mention. It doesn't even deserve to be mentioned. If you want my list, it will be mentioned there, but that's it.
Sorry for the long post, I just got so excited 😭

Love or Hate by Yeong Ha & Bak Dam
Status: Complete (106 Chapters)
Rating: Lemon
Warnings: Incest (Kinda)
Additional Tags: Step Brothers, Love Triangle, Actors, Artists
Summary: “Haesoo is a cynical writer of a romance column, while Joowon, his former stepbrother, is a famous actor. The two go way back - thrust together when their parents remarried, their relationship is far from simple. Brothers? Soulmates? Friends with benefits? Or nothing at all? Theirs is a delicate balance between lust and loathing, dating and breaking up, irritation and infatuation. When the mysterious photographer “K” takes an interest in Haesoo, events begin to spiral out of control. As the lines between art and reality become increasingly blurred, what direction will this story take?” - Lezhin
Review: I did enjoy this manwha, though it was not a scandalous as I wanted. Part of the love triangle is step brothers for Christ’s sake— this can’t be a perfectly wholesome love story about finding yourself!
The art is good but no panel really suck out to me. The “first season” of the webcomic was a page turner but I found myself struggle to get through the “second season”. Maybe my soul is tainted but I also felt the sex scenes was a bit too tame. All and all… I finished it.

Tag people you want to get to know better
Thank you to @ladymcres and @toppingjeffsatur I'm very honored ❣️
three ships:
Vegaspete. you know them. You love them probably if you're on my account. They're the most obsessive, codependent, devoted mfs out there and they are always on my mind. They're the most unhinged pair on the planet with such a weird complex relationship that anyone else would've broken up or never got together?? But because they're Vegas and Pete it just comes naturally to them. They thrive in their weird fucked up little world.
ToddBlack. Such little screentime but the IMPACT they had on me. I want a whole series about how they fell in love, eventually turning sour when Todd won't follow Black on his crusade against the elite, landing them in a bitter love/hate relationship where they fuck nasty and then Black says he wishes he never met Todd but he doesn't really mean it. He'll always come back to Todd and always choose this weird thing with Todd over more sensible options.
Dongsik/Joowon. Have I finished Beyond Evil? No. Do I fully believe Joowon wants to get down with Dongsik? Yes. Dongsik has dilf energy and Joowon has daddy issues they're a perfect match. Let Joowon fuck the old man!! Like at the very least just to piss off his shitstain father
first ever ship: Johnlock. No I won't talk about it.
last song: Louder than bombs by BTS
last movie: I haven't watched a movie in like. Months. It was probably Glass Onion though
currently watching: Beyond Evil, Island, Between Us, The Untamed.
currently reading: the final chapter of Yours and Mine by the lovely @raelle-writing just. Such a wonderful VegasPete fic. Uh haven't read a real book in like 84 years sorry :( it's the ADHD
currently consuming: water 🌊💦🌧️🧊🍶
currently craving: some gottamn motivation to write fic
As always idk who has done this so I'll be tagging some chill moots and no pressure at all!!: @sapphicblight @thisautistic @bi-wuxian @thoresque @kinnbig @aikinn

Can you list out any enemies to lovers ships you’re invested in? It’s great to see we have the same taste. I also love Batjokes, Cherik, LLight, and Hannigram. I’d love to discover more.
All great ships to love! Ah man, my taste in other enemies-to-lovers ships runs from Ye Olde 2012 Tumblr days to Kdramas/Cdramas I would recommend with my dying breath, so I'll just... take you on a journey. Trying to limit myself to ships that lasted a while and for which I read fics for, and almost wrote fics for myself, yet somehow this still got super long (sorry).
But to start with the bigger ones... when it comes to other enemies-to-lovers ships that are well-known and quite big, I am also partial to Obikin (Obi-Wan Kenobi and Anakin Skywalker), Silverflint (James Flint and John Silver), Wangxian (Lan Wangji and Wei Wuxian), JWDS (Joowon and Dongsik), Thorki (Loki and Thor) and Harrymort (Harry Potter and Voldemort).
Obikin has more of the Cherik & Megop set-up; they had a very close relationship before one of them became the "enemy", ending up on opposite sides of a conflict. Don't know how familiar you are with Star Wars, but the recent Obi-Wan Kenobi show is just... so incredibly shippy. And angsty, and well-written. I fully recommend it. When it comes to Silverflint, it's a bit more complicated. They're not classical nemeses or part of fantastical worlds. It's more like Hannigram, in the sense that they're more grounded, darker. Flint and Silver don't get along, and then they do, and then they don't. It's such a complex, fascinating dynamic, and I recommend watching Black so so much. And man, I also recommend getting into The Untamed or any of its corollaries; the novel Mo Dao Zu Shi is the original, but if you prefer anime, there's also that. Lan Zhan and Wei Wuxian (Wangxian) are... complicated, in the sense they're not quite enemies-to-lovers (they never truly hated each other), but they also are, since they definitely were on opposite sides of a conflict and fought each other. The thing about Wangxian and The Untamed is that it's a tragedy at its core, but one that gets a second chance. It's rather unique in that, and heart-wrenching. Then there's JWDS from the Korean show Beyond Evil; it's the ship between Joowon and Dongsik, the main characters. You've got Joowon who literally starts out suspecting his police partner of murder, and Dongsik who's... well. A wreck of a man for multiple reasons, but a manipulative one. Their enemies-to-lovers arc pretty much happens in the show, and it's brain-rot inducing, ugh. Fully recommend it. (If you watch Beyond Evil and like it, tack on The Devil Judge and Strangers from Hell on the list as well. Very Hannigram-like dynamics in these, with Strangers from Hell being... speedrun Hannigram on steroids that's somehow darker.)
Now to get into the last two rather "problematic" ships :)) When it comes to Thorki, I guess it depends on what squicks you. Back in my youth (read: a decade ago) the ship was thriving, and while there were some pearl-clutching voices here and there, they weren't the majority. Now you're likely to get people going "oh my god?? incest??" even though Thor and Loki are not even the same alien race, nevermind of the same blood. You can only call it pseudoincest, since they did grow up together. But hell, even if they were real brothers, it's a fictional pairing that's harming no one; and enough said on this front, before I get annoyed. I loved both characters and their dynamic a lot... up to Thor: Ragnarok and everything since then. No idea how familiar you are with Marvel stuff, but basically the first Thor movie, Thor: The Dark World, and The Avengers (2012) are peak Thorki-- to me. And lastly, to get to Harrymort... [sigh]. Mentioning it because I definitely ship it, but my enjoyment of anything Harry Potter has been poisoned by JKR and recent events. I don't engage much with material anymore, but dammit, the fandom has some incredible novel-length fics that do these characters and their potential more justice than the author ever did. The quality of fic for these two is unbelievable, and I'm basically... a fan of fanon Harrymort, because I could write a whole-ass essay and then two books on top about how JKR completely failed with this dynamic in the books-- and I don't mean in any way romantically, but just as nemeses or parallels supposed to teach a lesson or send a message.
Anyway! My main enemies-to-lovers and most enduring ships are definitely Batjokes, Lawlight, Hannigram and Cherik (in this chronological order of emergence, hah). Out the other ships I mentioned, I most heartily recommend watching Black Sails, Beyond Evil and Obi-Wan Kenobi. Also, maybe you'd enjoy Interview with the Vampire and Loustat, which is very... Hannigram-coded and incredible to watch. And Killing Eve, which hinges on the Villanelle ship? I liked these two shows a lot, although they did not quite activate Hyperfixation Mode in my brain. Perhaps they will for you. If you get into any of these, hope you enjoy <3

Thank you so much for sharing my ask list!!! 💛 Here are my questions for you! 💀😂🌊
from this post!
💀 do you have any secret ships? including friendships
especially for friendships, anyone with kwon hyuk tbh. i have a deep rooted need for him to be involved with joowon and his life and help give him all the love our poor pathetic boi needs. i think he and dongsik would have lots of fun annoying joowon together. i also like the idea of kwon hyuk dating oh jihwa for the very specific reason that she’s badass and kwon hyuk would crumble at her feet and love her more then anything and that’s what she deserves.
😂 what’s your favorite han joowon quirk?
this might sound weird but i love joowon’s anxiety reactions. the way his hands shake and he can’t catch his breath, the way he hits or clutches at his chest. it’s very reminiscent of my own anxiety and idk but it’s my favorite!
🌊 what moment makes you want to walk into the ocean?
the part where joowon comes out of the house covered in blood and is just like ‘welp it looks like I killed him’ because it’s self-sacrificing and stupid and he hates germs and dirt and it just sends me through it.

two tag games involving fic stuff under this
one line any fic! rules: pick ten of your fics, scroll to somewhere midpoint, pick a line chunk and share it, and then tag ten people.
tagged by @b1uetrees, thank u so much!! i’m a little late but i finally got the time!! i don’t think i can pick 10 fics tho; i’ll get to posting a 10th fic someday. 😂 also not putting the entire titles because i’m on mobile 💀
1. this one is from rivers aka one that is still very dear to my heart 😂
Instead of saying anything, Joowon chooses to act: he lets his breath ghost Dongsik’s nape, watching the hairs there stand before he leans in and kisses the skin between his shoulder blades, at the first knob that formed his spine.
2. this is perhaps my fave line from hook, only because i have a vivid image of ds tearing down the walls caging yy’s remains with his hands after he saw there 👀
Dongsik knows how to be gentle, but sweetness eludes him.
3. to the sun features jw and hyuk having a moment and looking back, i still like it so:
Joowon is steadily working past all these preformed prejudices in his mind, and he’s long realized that he’s been treating Hyuk like shit because he never saw Hyuk’s concern for him as something sincere.
4. from waterworn wishes, aka perhaps me at my cheesiest
Dongsik wonders if this is how it feels to be loved.
5. from tall ships, which i think still has the intro i’m really proud of:
There’s no guitar, but Dongsik’s heart sings nonetheless.
6. from as the world, one of my stuff that i look at rarely, but doing this fic meme thing reminded me that i had this bit in it
It takes him back to the reed fields, to wind against his hair as he tugged Joowon away from meeting the brunt of it.
7. this one is from company policy, and i really like it only because i think it hones in on the fact that jw is the “get out of my school” meme the moment he developed a crush 😂😂😂
He hates how everyone is entitled to Lee Dongsik’s kindness, but his dislike is reserved only for him.
8. this is part of wasted love’s summary, but eh, i think it says a lot about my hcs about these two lmao
The longer he remained here, the more he realized that this was exactly where they differed: Han Joowon was capable of loving only one person, but Lee Dongsik possessed a heart too big to love just one.
9. from qualm, the only fic i have that had the scenes flowing in a pace that didn’t require any separator, which, i think, is really interesting fsr bec i never trusted myself to have a piece that had one cohesive flow
There is no torrential downpour soaking them, no more darkened, dusty basement concealing decades-old secrets, and still Han Joowon is pleading.
second meme starts here, the fic writer interview. @b1uetrees was very kind to tag me once again, thanks very much!! 💕
name/nicknames: j
fandoms: be nowadays; gotta love how insane those characters made me
two shots: hmmmm to the sun and hook, perhaps? hook is so self-indulgent lmfao i wanted service top jw shaving off ds’ stubble and it was so specific that i knew i had to do it myself if i wanted it to exist 😂😂😂 to the sun was also self-indulgent, (all my stuff are lbr) but not as much as hook, i think. it did have jw in eyeliner tho, which ngl, i wrote for me 😂
most popular multi-chapter fic: exec horny/company policy 😂😂😂😂 funnily enough, it was 50k when i completed it and i thought “yeah i can post this in chunks” because i like finishing stories before posting, but idk. sth happened and it turned into an 80k thing somewhere along the way.
actual worst part of writing: oh, writing itself, i guess. like, wdym i gotta do it myself and that idea won’t spring out of my head fully formed like athena?? what
how do you choose your titles: unless something fits for the whole thing (like company policy), i go through a bunch of instrumental osts
do you outline? the better question would be “do u follow the outline” imo because that’s when i’ll start sweating 😂😂😂 i mean i do outline, but only for significant stuff i’ll likely forget (covid did me so bad and gave me horrible brain fog), but how to get from one plot point to another…………i wing that most of the time 💀💀💀
ideas you probably won’t get around to, but wouldn’t it be nice?: mafia au, i stg, i did this little meme re: zodiacs and battery percentages on the cursed bird app and it revealed a “gang au” which is basically the same thing?? yeah. i do have an idea for it and the whole vibes, but wdym i gotta sit down for it to see it happen? 🙃
callouts @ me: ur phone is not a suitable device for writing
best writing traits: i think it’s the fact that i always write for me 😂 like, i write what compels me, what i want to see, what i enjoy. other ppl liking it is a very nice bonus, but me liking it has to be the most important factor here. i’d hate for the joy of writing to be taken away from me.
spicy tangential opinion: this might come as a shock to some ppl but if u don’t like sth, pressing the backspace key usually makes the thing go away. also if u’re going to be nasty to some fics, do it in ur dms and gcs and not on the cursed bird app bec u don’t know who sees those and don’t, ffs, bookmark the fic and tag it with “meh” or put a rating 💀💀💀 i’ve seen these things happen and with all due respect to ppl who do these: wtf is wrong with u??? (if u dont have gcs or frens to trashtalk stuff with then guess what, u’re probably a nasty fandom police that everyone has blocked)
not tagging folks bec i think everyone has done this by now 😂😂😂 if anyone wants to do it tho, say u’re tagged by me!! 💕

💛🌊 😡?
hi! hi! thank you for humouring me with this ask <3
💛 Give five people in the fandom a compliment
firstly, you!! i know we haven't interacted much but it was really sweet of you to do this ask. i hope we get to talk more in the future!!
ヾ(@⌒ー⌒@)ノ
@tiffanylamps for being a genius and making this ask for the fandom!
@cafedecanela my bestie here, who sent me all the BE art this morning that i missed on twitter. it really made my day so thank you!!
@chaoticdweeb i still remember you were the first one who tagged me in the post when i first got into the fandom on tumblr! thank you for welcoming me and i hope you're doing well <3
@katierosefun i love your writing and thank you for your lovely jwds fics (❁´◡`❁)
🌊 What moment makes you want to walk into the ocean?
'i will go to hell' of course!! that's peak romance to me. there's nothing else that sends me into spiral than seeing joowon going down on his knees to dongsik and professing pretty much his undying loyalty to him. the desperation in his voice!! the despair in dongsik's eyes!! ah, that's love!
😡 Least likeable character?
kang jinmuk? han kihwan? 🤣 tbh, there's not anyone that i particularly hate in this show. i think even the dislikable ones seem interesting.

I tried to format this with a comma and a capital letter to show where a new line is in these songs/quotes bc tumblr hates formatting!
"Don't you ever, Tame your demons, But always keep them on a leash" - Arsonist's Lullabye, Hozier (maybe vegaspete or beyond evil?)
"And from these rooftops, I'll scream your name, Bravely to the dark" - Tyler Knott Gregson (rooftops always give me patpran vibes but anyone else if good too)
"How much should my longing fall like snow, Before the days of spring return, friend?, Snowflakes fall down, And fall apart little by little, I miss you, I miss you, I miss you" - Spring Day, BTS
Also basically any of Do I Wanna Know by the Arctic Monkeys gives me patpran vibes but idk if this is a basic choice? It could be overused but im not sure but anyway!! "I dreamt about you nearly every night this week, How many secrets can you keep?, 'Cause there's this tune I found that makes me think of you somehow and I play it on repeat, Until I fall asleep, Ever thought of calling when you've had a few? Because I always do, Maybe I'm too busy being yours to fall for somebody new."
Also I'm happy to take literally anything for The Eclipse (I feel like I really dont see many edits of it? But I feel like its difficult to pin down a specific vibe because it was so much grief but it is maybe my favourite right now!) or Between Us/Not Me/Bad Buddy/Vice Versa/Beyond Evil!
hello lizzie ^^ i hope you've been well!
this is for you!
i hope you like what i came up with even when i took some liberties with the prompt. you gave me so many options to choose from, so many good options, but ever since i first got this ask, i was fixated on that hozier line. it just seemed to fit beyond evil so perfectly and i was so excited to make something for that drama bc i never did back when i watched it. thank you so much for it! (and also special love for throwing spring day at me, it made me smile fondly ♥ maybe i'll end up using it when i find something fitting to use it for)
(more blabberings under the cut bc this edit made me think some thoughts!)
first of all, i have to admit that i have almost forgotten everything that happened in beyond evil. it's been over a year since i binged through it and it never stuck with me the same way as, let's say, the devil judge did. but i still found it super interesting and with this prompt, i came to think about the themes in it once more. i came to think about the story, and the world, and the people. most of all, the people.
bc, second of all, i am obsessed with the dynamic of our two main characters. they are like fire and ice, and they struggle to understand each other bc of it. joowon is young, righteous, hopeful, and naive. dongsik is older, has already seen the cruelty of the world, and knows how much it can hurt. but he has not given up, and instead, there is this plan and then –
well. joowon comes and messes it up. kind of. tho he also becomes dongsik's ally, and then comes to see how unfair the world can be, and watching all of this happen hurts dongsik who, until then, has not shied away from sacrifice. he has let the people around him be hurt. he has been selfish in that sense. and then this one person more threatens to tip him over.
so, i had thoughts. and then i somehow tried to put all of them into this edit: the differences between joowon and dongsik, their individual journeys, their joined moments. there's dongsik with his undying fire, the only thing left pushing him through as he loses, and loses, and loses again and again. there's joowon with his one goal: to serve justice. he's willing to try and reach this goal by any means necessary. he almost becomes blind to how impossible reaching it can be.
they both have their demons. dongsik's are vengeful, full of years-old rage. they're simmering somewhere behind his smiles and in his stern eyes and under the tears he so unwillingly sheds. he cannot tame them despite all the time that has passed. he doesn't want to.
and then there's joowon with his newly found demons, the ones that are out of his control, the ones that would like to drive a bullet into his father's chest or smash a golf club into his head. the demons that turn the calm and collected detective han into someone he didn't know he could be. the demons that are born out of his old and new grief.
the caption seemed to put all of this so nicely. it's one of dongsik's lines said to joowon. there's something scary about how far ppl are willing to go out of love and attachment. we're terrifying creatures once someone takes something we care about away from us.
i hope you didn't find my ramblings or the edit itself boring. i personally love the simplicity of it all. i haven't done anything black and white in a long while so this felt refreshing and fun.
thank you once more for your prompt and have a good weekend ♥
