*drags Jason scenarios into your inbox like a cat with a live chipmunk into the kitchen*
I keep thinking about Jason interacting with Bruce (and maybe also Dick) when he was little. Ships passing in the night, the briefest of encounters. And no one ever puts two and two together until it's far too late.
Like, a flicker of a bat out of the corner of the eye. Maybe Jay pickpockets one of them when he was 8. In line together at the ice cream shop. Little things. Inconsequential things. And yet they add up.
Idk I just thought you'd appreciate the thoughts I'm gonna probably do nothing with.
I love the idea of Bruce having encountered all of his children at some point, even briefly, before he formally met them and adopted them. Almost like Gotham is testing them, and then eventually says, yes, you can adopt them now. Time for you to meet them <3
Maybe it's so unremarkable of a crossing of paths that neither party remembers, but Gotham does. And the ripple effects of Bruce's work have always reached his children, whether they knew it at the time or not. They always were his children, if you ignore the whole temporal stuff.

the beautiful thing about life is that you can always change, grow and get better. you aren't defined by your past. you aren't your mistakes.
