see now the theme of soulmates is sprinkled throughout the romances of wayhaven chronicles. the detective can help control m’s pheromones and touch them without causing them pain (something no one else has been able to do), n states that they knew from the moment they met the detective that they were meant for each other, f (who feels like they don't belong anywhere) finds a home in the detective, and a’s shell that they have built up starts to disappear which has been something no one was able to do before (not even unit bravo). furthermore, the temptation of the detective's blood represents their connection to their love interest: they have special blood and vampires drink blood, showing that the detective contains something that the love interest needs to live (both metaphorically and physically). therefore, the detective has an intrinsic and unexplainable connection to their love interest that indicates that they were made for each other since the detective gives them something they have been lacking.
victor hugo really said gay rights like...literally every gay ship goes so hard.
valvert? redemption....remaking oneself....the shifting hierarchy....punish me monsieur le maire....bondage chicken at the barricade....the decades-long pursuit....enemies to lovers...
rating: SLAPS.
enjoltaire? canon comparisons to achilles/patroclus....not to me not if it's you....be serious i am wild....anything for you....
rating: SLAPS.
éposette? we grew up together but never really knew each other....i was cruel to you but we were children...do you even recognise me now...you are kind to me even though....
rating: SLAPS.
courfius? well obviously when marius doesn't get with cosette, he absolutely hooks up with courfeyrac after he's done sulking. marius is the epitome of a useless bisexual.
IT'S THE BOOK OF RUTH JONATHAN IS QUOTING FROM THE BOOK OF RUTH
Jonathan Harker to Mina Murray Harker (Dracula, Oct 3): "May God judge me by my deserts, and punish me with more bitter suffering than even this hour, if by any act or will of mine anything ever come between us!"
Ruth to Naomi (Ruth 1:16-17): "Where you die, I will die, and there I will be buried. Thus may God do to me and more if even death separates between me and you”
If you like fantasy romance then I recommend you check out T. Kingfisher's Saint of Steel series.
It's about a group of paladins whose patron god (the titular Saint of Steel, a warrior-protector god) died and now only 7 of them remain. Each book is about a different paladin finding love while also dealing with an ongoing magical threat.
The characters are interesting and likeable, the prose is good, and the combination of dark fantasy, romance, and a light-hearted tone (there're a lot of jokes) works surprisingly well. The romances are all wholesome and unproblematic (not something to be taken for granted in the romance genre or dark fantasy genre) but not without flaws and issues that make them interesting.
The series also doesn't do the problematic trope of "love heals all" where romance can magically cure your mental illness. The "broken" paladins and their often equally-broken love interests are still broken even after they got a romantic partner. I appreciate that.
Here is the comparison of 6 bi books' Western and Japanese covers.

things i predict will happen in the upcoming books
• the detective will be cage-gassed. (it's physical also i doubt that it's magic so it would work on them)
• Tina/Verda will get kidnapped if they know.
• N will go into the berserk state and hurt detective (im willing to bet my money on that this is book 5 stuff)
• A and M relationship inevitably begins at the end of book 4
• The mayor learns/ already knows the stunt Rebecca has been pulling (Book 4 since Sera has been saying he will have an intense role in book 4)
• Douglas will go rogue if you are hard on him enough
• Aunt big baddie reveal either at the end of book 4 or in the middle of book 5
• book 6 has no direct villain and is more so focused on picking up the pieces of whatever the fuck is gonna happen in book 5
• murphy will come back by attacking the detective if he escaped in the first book
• book 7 is like an endgame event where everyone the detective won over as allies (maa-luse, sin etc) comes back to fight the supernatural rogues.
• rook will make an appearence one way or another.
• rebecca will not die but will get very hurt (book 5)
• F will get kidnapped in book 5 (there is this ask where someone asks sera what would each UB member would tell to past version of themselves about their romance with the detective and F says 'They came for you')
• Drinking the detective's blood thing will happen as a last resort after the LI takes a mortal wound from the aunt big baddie. (book 5)
• If your relationship with bobby is good, A's route will use this factor the most and the detective will have the choice to get closer with Bobby while A foams at the mouth in the background.
• M's crystal is going to be broken by a villain (maybe book 5) and theu will go delulu for a while as they regain their memories.
• Douglas will hurt the mayor bad in an argument they have if he is a supernatura
• If Auntie exists, her name will be either choosable or just the whitest name you can imagine
• ending of the LT (who you will be sticking permanently with will be at the end of book 4 OR towards the end of book 5
•In book 5, LT, A's and M's routes will take a back seat when it comes to angst while F and N's will get worse.
• Alima (the girl thats in love with M) will come up to the detective and be like 'leave them while you can before they hurt you' ORRR 'whats so special about you? why didn't they want me but they want you?' OR BOTH before M shows up and goes 'go the fuck away' and has a fight with her.
• A's love confession will be right before the offical relationship starts. So like they will go 'I LOVE YOU!!!' and then, like maybe a few chapters later or right after it will be offical
this is it for now. i will add as i come up with more.
Happy Halloween! I wanted to do something a little spooky with the ladies in addition to my costume drawings 💖 It was fun to tap into some fears with them
is officially open! (Although still new and I am sure there will be issues we discover as we go along.)
This is a blog for readers of queer romance and queer romantic fiction to submit recommendations so that others can discover the treasure trove of queer joy out there.
How does it work? Well, you can follow the blog to receive recs, and hopefully occasionally reblog anything that might strike your fancy, and likewise read anything that looks interesting to you. You can also submit recommendations. All you have to do is follow the format guidelines.
Some quick answers to some possible questions you might have:
Queer means LGBTQIA+. Exclusionists can make their own sad little space.
Romance in this case can mean the genre of Romance (which has certain expectations, like a Happily Ever After or a Happy For Now ending) and other types of fiction with a strong romantic element involving one or many of the main characters. Yes, erotic romance counts.
This means f/f or m/m romance novels, and it can mean a bestselling fantasy or sci fi series with a queer mains and some sort of love story in there. It means gay and lesbian and trans and ace love stories. It means nb stuff. It means aro stuff. It means genderqueer or genderfuck or agender. It means yes polyam too.
And in fact, right now, with the current affairs being what they are, if you have some trans love stories you adore, I'd love to have them recced here.
It also does not just mean written works. Graphic novels and webcomics are welcome! Maybe we can include tv shows or movies in the future but the link part might be tricky? It's possible, anyway.
This blog was originally an idea to help support indie and self-published creators (since a lot of queer creators tend to take that route) but you are welcome to rec traditionally published works too. And original and free stories as long as they are not fanfiction. The more the merrier! This blog is about spreading joy and community support (and a bit about defiance tbh)!
Queer Romance Recs
...but yes this is brand spanking new and there will be a few bugs at the start. Please be patient. :)
In lieu of Stuff Your Kindle day, can we talk about the issue of how the m/m genre of books, romance or not, is almost entirely dominated by women? Can we talk about how the most recognisable gay couples in media are written by women? Can we talk about how queer men can't even write about ourselves, how we are only allowed to exist when it's from the point of view of a straight woman sexualising us?
Can we talk about that? Or am I going to get called misogynistic for pointing out the disparity between who gets the writing deals, & who gets their books turned into movies, & whose shit gets popular versus whose doesn't? Can we talk about how m/m fiction is only allowed when it appeals to a cishet gaze, or is that too much for tumblr to take?
Can we also talk about how trans queer men are even more hated by publishing? Can we talk about how we get shit from both sides? Can we talk about how books about the experiences of being a queer man, written by queer men, never get the same recognition as books written by women on this subject (barring academia which has its own problems)?
