Greta Thunberg: Because of racism, that’s the simple answer, I would say. Racism, and basically desperately trying to defend a deadly, destructive system that systematically maximizes short term economic profit and geopolitical power over the well being of humans and the planet. Right now, it is morally difficult to defend that – it is impossible— but they’re desperately trying which is …. absurd is not the word, but there are no words to describe it.

whatever the Freedom Flotilla/Madleen had less than a truckload of aid, I don’t care. The point wasn’t to bring a lifesaving amount of aid.

The point was to break the blockade. To say “Hey, we did this and now we need you ALL to do it, too, for it to make a difference!”

And though they’ve been detained by Israel, the message is clearer than ever. The message is STILL “Hey, now we need you all to do it! Our one little boat got 150 nautical miles from the shore, imagine what we could do with 100!”

‘If you see this video, we are being intercepted and kidnapped’

Greta Thunberg has shared a pre-recorded video appealing for international help.

“My name is Greta Thunberg, and I am from Sweden,” Thunberg said in the video recorded on board the Madleen, before tonight’s events.

“If you see this video, we are being intercepted and kidnapped in international waters by the Israeli occupational forces, or forces that support Israel,” she said.

“I urge all my friends, family and comrades to put pressure on the Swedish government to release me and the others as soon as possible.”

The only reason the Israeli military didn’t bomb the Madleen is because the whole world is watching.

Because of who the people on board are, noted and acclaimed activists and a member of the French European Parliament.

It was only a month ago that the last Freedom Flotilla was bombed by the Israeli military.

We may have lost eyes on them but we are still watching.

Reach out to your minister of foreign affairs, demand that these civilians be released.

hey so the Israeli military sprayed a chemical irritant on a civilian UK flag carrying ship carrying aid to Gaza. And then boarded and kidnapped the humanitarians and journalists on board, including Greta Thunberg, Rima Hassan (French MEP), and 10 other humanitarians and journalists.

In International Waters, ships are considered the territory of the state whose flag they carry. Israel just kidnapped civilians from 7 different countries from UK territory after spraying them with a chemical irritant. I'm pretty sure that's an act of war against the UK.

June 12, 2025 - Rima Hassan, French member of the European parliament and crew member of the Madleen freedom flotilla boat, refused to first change out of her Israeli prison clothes and instead immediately joined the anti-genocide demonstrators in Paris upon her arrival back home, where she gets a hero's welcome.

Rima Hassan was put into solitary confinement after her kidnapping by Israel because she had written "Free Palestine" on the walls of her cell inside Israeli prison, and refused to sign the deportation papers. [video]
