9th house - what’s your favorite quote? god, this is hard to answer. one that always gets me is a line from the poem litany in which certain things are crossed out by richard siken (my favorite poet) which reads

“love, for you, is larger than the usual romantic love. it’s like a religion. it’s terrifying. no one will ever want to sleep with you.”

Music Tag

I was tagged by the wonderful @thelastnero to list 10 musical favorites of mine and tag 10 mutuals! My favourite music shifts all the time so I’m not going to try to do my top songs of all time but rather what it is at the moment. Sort of. 

Hostiles on the Hill by Bad Lip Reading. It came out recently. It’s a jam. I love my boy Luke Skywalker.

99 Red Balloons by Nena. Obviously a classic, it became endeared to me through my gamecube game Donkey Konga when I was a kid, and for some reason in the past 2 months it’s been constantly stuck in my head.

Elmo’s Song by Sesame Street. No judgement. When I was super little I loved Sesame Street and my mum later bought a CD with this on it and liked to play it in the car. This also has been stuck in my head for no reason at random points in the last month.

National Anthem by Lana Del Rey. I’ve been listening to loads of Lana gradually for the past year or so. This happens to be the song I’ve chosen for this list bc I’ve been playing it a lot recently. 

Christmas Time (Don’t Let The Bells end) by The Darkness. It’s my favourite Christmas song if you don’t count All I Want For Christmas, and it’s Christmas. I also happen to have seen The Darkness live around Christmas, and they performed this. It was awesome. 

Where My Heart Will Take Me (the Star Trek: Enterprise theme song). I’ve been super obsessed with Star Trek recently, to the surprise of no-one at all. While I haven’t reached Enterprise on my rewatch/watch through yet, that hasn’t stopped this song from wiggling its way back into my thoughts, having been something of a backdrop when I was younger and Dad put the show on in the background of whatever we were doing.

Beyond The Sun by Shinedown. Technically this song could be replaced with multiple other Shinedown songs. I find this song so powerful and emotive (like the others I could have put of course) and I listened to Shinedown’s entire discography again last week while playing Carcassonne with my little brother which allowed my love for Shinedown to take a front seat again. 

Hi-Lo by Evanescence. This is one of a few original songs from Ev’s newest album which I adored as soon as I heard it. I’ve loved Evanescence for as long as I have been capable of finding music for myself, and this song in particular showcases Amy’s vocals so well.

Nobody Can Save Me by Linkin Park. While the title seems somewhat depressing, the song itself is so positive and uplifting, with the line in the chorus “nobody can save me” later being replaced with “only I can save me” which I absolutely adore. And of course, needless to say, I love Linkin Park with my entire goddamn heart.

Ease My Mind by Hayley Kiyoko. Need I explain? What a bop.

I think stability, whether financial or personal, is super important in life; i’d love to have a family in the future but to me its more improtant to have an established basis prior to brining other people into my unstable world…does that make sense?
