Peyote Deer screen printed onto a super comfortable cotton shirt. I drew this design back in 2013 when i first opened Closet of Mysteries on Etsy. Of so many designs from that time, this is one of the few remaining in my shop. The psychoactive compound in peyote is mescaline which opens the door to the spirit world. Mescaline, on its own, extracted from the cactus will provide an experience but without the plant spirit as a guide. The same goes for all plant medicines and psychoactive compounds. Mescaline is also in San Pedro cactus but the experience is not the same. Why? I think it is because of the different plants have different spirits in them. The special compounds in some plants allow us to communicate with them. Peyote’s spirit is often called Grandfather Peyote. This spirit tends to be a stern but loving teacher. Unfortunately, peyote habitat is under constant threat - mostly by encroaching residential development as the country’s obsession with fast, low quality housing spreads across the landscape. The survival of the cactus is going to be greatly dependent on cultivation. Hopefully, we will see the end of plant prohibition soon and more people will be able to keep this sacred plant in the world. . . . . . . . . . #closetofmysteries #peyote #magiccactus #peyotecactus #mescaline #sacredplants #plantmedicine #plantmedicines #naturemagic #naturemagick https://www.instagram.com/p/CcGWBYzpTJD/?igshid=NGJjMDIxMWI=
