Lilia isn't a perfect dad. That much is true, and while it's heart-wrenching to think about his fathering in terms of Malleus getting the short end of the stick and watching all the mistakes be corrected for Silver. I know in my heart of hearts that he is a father just like Scrooge McDuck DuckTales (2017) rough and distant in his affections, but the affection is there. Lilia means well and he raised some great kids who are kinda fucked up but still good people.

But I also think the idea of eccentric adventurer Lilia, who says even more cryptic things than usual very funny.

ace has the biggest, fattest crush on yuu and it's amazing how he's winning against the rest of the cast. and yes even malleus is losing against ace and i said what i said!

he canonically commuted during winter season when yuu sent an SOS, offered to sleep next to them twice, was the first one to worry about them when everyone vanished in the spectral soiree and had a mini tantrum when they didnt realize how worried he was!! and lastly had the guts to tell malleus to his face, a top 5 magician in the twst universe, that what he did wasn't cool just cause he was worried sick abt yuu (and grim and deuce ig) !!!! Also he was so fucking worried when Yuu went to STYX and him and deuce couldn't contact him?!!

He is winning against Malleus for me too (b ᵔ▽ᵔ)b He is a supportive and caring friend and there is so much there in game to fuel the aceyuu agenda. Honestly his little spats with Deuce are kind of funny to me. Deuce hits back just as hard (he actually has some of the better burns imho) Grim actually roasts Ace pretty good too sometimes, he's really easy to make fun of.

Malleus has always appreciated interesting people who weren't weird about being near him

so when his partner started snatching shiny things he wasn't super surprised, or even worried about it

he had actually started to make a game out of it; they would steal something from him or another Diasomnia student, and he would try and steal it back without them noticing

they ended up being very evenly matched, allowing most of the stolen pieces to end up with their original owners

he was aware that most of the other Diasomnia students were too scared of him and his S/O to ask for them back, so he'd started leaving them in the common room when possible

Malleus absolutely loved helping them clean and preen their fluffy crow wings

he found them equal parts beautiful and comforting, loving the feeling of the large black wings draped over and around him

the first time they'd perfectly imitated his voice had scared him a bit, but he eventually got used to that as well

sometimes when they were bored they liked to spook the other students by imitating his voice

(Sebek had complained several times, but stopped when he realized it was useless to do so)

of all the things he loved about his partner, first on the list was their loyalty; any and all students who'd offer them shiny or pretty things immediately gained a fierce friend for life

similarly, those who slighted them or anyone they cared for would earn themselves an eternal enemy

he admired his partner in many ways, and made sure every so often a particularly shiny and ornate piece of jewelry or small object was left somewhere for them to find

it was a practical joke from one of riddle's underclassmen (not ace/deuce). riddle might have lessened the strictness of a lot of the heartslabyul rules, but it doesn't mean that there aren't some people out there that still hold grudges against him.

during one of the birthday parties, right as riddle's attention was on the hedgehogs, the student made a move. with a swift hand, he easily wove a string of whispered words under his breath that sent riddle flying from his chair.

riddle gasped as he felt the force throw him out and up into the air, and as he saw the grass beneath get close, he could only close his eyes, with no time to react when...

"riddle! are you okay, rose?" instead of the ground, he was met by your soft embrace and a worried look in your eyes. "does it hurt?"

and for a moment everything faded away into the background, and all riddle saw was rose petals wafting off you in pleasant waves, along with romantic music in the background. it was just you.. and him.

that is, until ace started cooing about how cute he was and he suave you were being. "ooh, prefect's lifting the dorm head up, bridal style~ how cute~~~"

then riddle snaps.

azul grits his teeth as he winces at vargas, who had just finished telling him off about his flying. well, excuse him, azul thinks that this is excellent progress, especially to someone who's only started learning to walk a year ago! (jamil will happily disagree.)

of course, this stubborn dorm leader wouldn't even think of asking for help, unless there's a deal involved, so when you arrive to the scene, tasked with the goal of helping azul, it becomes quite difficult.

"oh come on, ocho." you grumble as you watch azul fly a few feet off the ground for the umpteenth time. "let me help."

"and how can I make sure I'm not investing in something that procures a loss?" he asks back. "now shush, I'm trying to concentrate." so stubborn, seriously. you hold the urge to (affectionally) roll your eyes.

"fine, oh my seven. ...oh, I am so dearly desperate for an exchange of woes." you begin with a tone as flat as ace's ass. "please, mr azul, give me a contract."

"that's better." azul gives you a business smile. "what would you like? name your price."

"how about..." you eyes him mischievously. "a show?"

"a... show?" by now, azul's concentration is off his broom and on you, staring curiously at your preposition.

"mhm. in exchange of me helping you- oof!" but alas, he falls off, but it's a good thing you're there to catch him, pulling him close against your body as you, too, fall onto the grass.

"you okay, ocho? man, 's a good thing that wasn't too tall." you brush the stray hair off his forehead. "but, I gotta say..."

kalim's told you, with full honestly, about his past experiences with kidnappings. although he doesn't seem bothered by it, deep down, you're pretty damn sure trauma like that doesn't go away.

so when you visit his home town, land of the hot sands, you're on your guard, even if kalim tells you to relax.

"I'm not that easy to fool anymore, you know? just calm down, prefect, I'll be fine!" even if he says it casually, it all but eggs you to protect him.

...which is how it lead to you sleeping on his bed. for protection sake's, even if jamil raised an eyebrow at your reason. shh, what jamil doesn't know won't hurt him, but... it's also partially because kalim's cute. … jamil probably knows, though.

kalim's fast asleep, lightly snoring beside you as you run your hands softly through his white hair. how cute.

unfortunately, the moment's ruined when a number of menacing people appear in the room, clearly looking for a hostage.

fortunately, there's you, and you swiftly woop all their asses silently, where the only sounds are the defeated groans of kalim's possible captures. with the security guards alerted and the goons taken away, you lie back besides kalim, who's still peacefully snoozing away.

"good night, sunshine." with a last affectionate ruffle to his hair, you fall fast asleep.

when kalim hears of your heroic feat, he rushes to thank you, offering his wealth as compensation for your kindness.

"kalim, hey- hey." you mumble, looking at kalim's confused face. "look, I don't want this. seriously. I'm just glad I was there at the right time, or it things could've gone worse. I don't want that happening to you, okay? you're precious, got that?"

"but you helped me, so I should at least-!"

"then give me some of your fun." you shoulder kalim with a friendly smile. "now that that's behind us, won't you show me your country and how things are here, hmm? we haven't a lot of time, right~"

the shine in kalim's eyes appears back, and he quickly loops his arm around yours. "right! you know, I better get started right away! let's go get you dressed up first! there really is a lot for you to explore, and I'll make sure you don't miss anything!"

lord malleus is one of the strongest wizards in twisted wonderland- nay, the strongest. what could a mere human do in his presence? is what sebek angrily barks when you tell him you could protect malleus.

even malleus is amused at your suggestion, and even plays along. "i'll be overjoyed to receive your help, child of man."

days past since that conversation and now, you hold an invitation straight from malleus himself who invites you to his humble abode during vacation. you happily accept- beats running errands for crowley, right?

yeah, too bad it came at an expense of enemies waiting to seize the crown to briar valley. malleus can damn well take care of himself, but with so many things coming at him, there's bound to be a blind spot.

"MALLEUS!" he whips his head around, just in time to see you kick one of his enemies into fatal injury. "be careful! watch for your back!"

well, color him impressed- you can protect him, can't you? even sebek is impressed- not like he'll ever tell you, but eh.

like kalim, he doesn't know what to offer you other than his riches, but again, you refuse it.

"I want to be paid back with time, malleus."

"well..." malleus frowns. "time warping as quite the difficult spell-"

"oh my- I mean with you, treasure." you snort. "I want to spend time with you, I didn't mean warping time."

malleus is stunned to say the least. time, with... him? you want... his company? he asks several times if you're sure and yes, you are positively sure about your choice. he'll laugh, both in amusement and joy.

"very well. my time is now yours, child of man."

BUT AAAA speaking of the event... isnt Crowley also act like the villains of Pinocchio ??? Main part of his humor is that he uses the students' excellence to boost Night Raven's supremacy after all like how the villains in Pinocchio tries to profit off of his 'unique trait of being a puppet'👀👀

Additionally, the Pinocchio movie is about Pinocchio finally becoming "a real boy" by following The Fairy's conditions 👀 I think Idia and Ortho are the obvious parallels of this but I believe its Yuu/Grim and Crowley because I'm desperate for Ramshackle 😂

The parallels between Crowley and Honest John are legitimately driving me insane. They even share a similar type of “swindler” character, with Crowley being very obvious about his greed and tricks. And with recently in the Glorious Masquerade event, he goes as far to consider himself the one that “raised” Malleus into a powerful mage

I definitely have to rewatch Pinocchio, or at least the scenes with Honest John. And no, you are so right about Yuu and Grim because they are LITERALLY the puppets to Crowley- it’s not even funny. Ever since Yuu arrived to Twisted Wonderland, they’ve been forced to bend to Crowley’s will- and because of him, they’ve been involved in every single Overblot/disaster. And the Overblots boys and their Phantoms feel a lot like a puppet and a puppeteers relationship, don’t you think? The Overblotters are simply the means for their Phantoms to gain strength and blot. Malleus Draconia

The longer he spends with humanity, the more Malleus realizes just how different man is from fae. In biology, in morality, in social structure, and in tradition. A prime example being birthday celebrations.

The fae see many more anniversaries than humans. Celebrations are typically reserved for children as they hit milestones in development, but after some decades the shine of life begins to fade. The day blends in with all the others on the calendar, until it’s relevancy has dwindled to a mere recognition. ‘Ah, another year gone by,’ being a fleeting thought as the day passes.

Malleus being a prince makes him an exception, since he is celebrated by many fae every year. Yet not in the way he’s witnessed at NRC. When his peers age, there is always a boisterous gathering. One full of laughter, games, food, and jubilation. A stark contrast to the regal dinners that he is used to attending.

He has never been invited personally. He is not offended, per-say, yet he does watch at a distance. He witnesses humans celebrate life as if it is a gift to cherish.

A short life, yet one well lived. Malleus begins to understand humanity’s philosophical take on how, “life is bittersweet”.

Which leads him to a dilemma. How should he go about celebrating your birthday? If a large party was being thrown, then he had not received any invitation. Yet, he is not satisfied with letting the day pass by as many fae do. Spontaneous partying is not for him either, as he does not feel comfortable celebrating you living as if it could have been your last year.

Needless to say, your birthday is a serious matter to Malleus. It makes him recognize your mortality, and the cultural differences that divide you both. So, he turns to Lilia for advice. On both philosophy and regarding your celebration.

After a discussion full of sarcastic quips and riddles, Malleus chooses to blend the traditions of humanity and fae. In the daytime you can enjoy your party with friends, and in the night you will come to Diasmonia. Lilia, Silver, Sebek, and himself will host a casual dinner—one that Lilia is not allowed to cook, and where Sebek is forbidden from lecturing your table manners.

The evening feels so foreign to Malleus. He takes his meals with his family every day, yet the table is never as lively as it is when you attend. As you both engage in pleasant conversation, the fighting between Sebek and Silver fades to background noise. When he turns to talk with Lilia, you are soon wrangled into the fight, yet it becomes more playful than tense. Malleus watches in amusement as you draw a whip-cream mustache on Silver when he falls asleep. Sebek even ends up with icing in his hair after making fun of your art skills, and Malleus nearly chokes on his cake.

It’s perfect. You are perfect. He can hardly keep himself from giving you your present then and there—something Lilia notices, urging Malleus to walk you home since, ‘it is a school night fufu’.

Leading you through the forrest, Malleus feels his heart soar when you thank him for the wonderful evening. He stops you mid-stride with his hand on his chest, and reaches to pull something from his uniform breast pocket. A sigil. More specifically, a sigil that grants entrance to Briar Valley.

“Child of man—no, (Y/N). You and I are different in so many ways. Compared to my people you are merely a child, yet I find myself learning more from you than any elder has taught. Not only in terms of humanity, but of my heart. You have beseeched me in body and soul. I dread the day we must part; and so, If you choose to remain in this world then know that there is a home waiting—you need only want it,”

Birthdays are important to Lilia. They celebrate the gift of life, yet also remind us of the past. Lilia knows many birthdays. He’s old enough to fill books with his companions — he actually has. You need only open a textbook to hear about some of his past friends — and the list keeps growing. Even after people have long passed on, he remembers their birthday. The day will come and he will remember their life. Their shared memories.

You are no exception, although you have yet to pass on (which he is hoping does not happen anytime soon. The next time someone overblots he will be reporting NRC for student neglect). Being the sleuth that he is, Lilia learned about your birthday through snooping.

It was a difficult task considering how you are an enigma to Twisted Wonderland. With no documentations to smuggle, all Lilia could do is rely on gossip. How fortunate he was to be in the area when his heightened hearing picked up talk of a surprise celebration.

And how unfortunate for the party planners, because you will have other plans that evening. Fufufu~

With a special day quickly approaching, Lilia is in chipper spirits. Silver does not miss the extra carton of eggs, sack of flour, sugar, etc. stashed in the kitchen and fears for his life. All of Diasmonia is on edge, thinking that their senior is planning to craft them a new dish

Tensions diminish when notice of your birthday reaches everyone else, until an entirely new problem arises. This being that Lilia plans for you to eat one of his monstrosities, on your birthday no less

It wouldn’t be so bad. Except that it’s been literal decades since their elder has been in love good friends with someone, and your death would end that. If not death, food poisoning would definitely cause Lilia to lose good noodle points

Time skip to dinner, where the four are sitting down to one of Lilia’s delicious homecooked meals. Malleus asks Silver if you both had already celebrated, which leads to a shameful admittance of forgetting…

Que Sebek fury. Uncontrolled rage because Silver ditched you for duties that Sebek could have easily covered. “Humans only live so many years,”… “You lazy bastard,” yada yada. Wow. Sebek chewing Silver out for something unrelated to Malleus??? And he’s right?? Someone get a camera.

Nevermind that he is also human, and Sebek half-human. The point is that Silver royally fucked up, and his family now has to fix it. Half-way through the argument Malleus disappeared to kidnap invite you over. Lilia’s on his way to see if Sam has any treats for sale (since there is not enough time to bake), and the two fighting are left to scream. They only stop when you return with Malleus, confused and in need of an explanation

Which you do not get. Instead, Silver composes himself and thanks his liege before pulling a chair out for you to sit. Lilia returns with store-bought sweets, and apologizes that they are not homemade. While there are no gifts, the four of you all enjoy the evening together.

Eventually it is time for you to return home, and despite the enjoyable evening there is still something missing. Silver is grateful that his family gave you both the chance for quality time…yet something still feels unfulfilled

As he walks you home, it hits him. An idea that’s been in front of him the entire day. Not ready for the day to end, Silver asks you to wait on the steps of your dorm as he runs to fetch something. He runs back into the woods with purpose, and soon returns with small bouquet of wildflowers.

“I am sorry for making this day a mess. If not for everyone else, I may have let a precious moment like this pass by. Happy Birthday, (Y/N). I may not voice it often, but I care for you. Deeply,”

Sebek would not dare bother Lord Malleus or Master Lilia with his personal matters, but on the other hand he does not have anyone else to ask. He could write home but that is unwise for many reasons.

Thankfully, Sebek is awful at lying and Lilia was able to dig up his worries. The bat could have pulled a prank and offered bad advice, yet even he knows a joke would be in poor taste. Not with such pure-hearted love at stake

In the end, Sebek was told to stick with human tradition. A present, and a sweet. Easy, right?

Haha. Since when is anything involving Sebek been considered easy. He cannot decide on the “perfect” present, and ends up accumulating a multitude of gifts. He had only gone out shopping once, yet at every shop he found something that reminded him of you. No gift felt, “perfect,” and so now he has around a dozen different presents to choose from. All stashed under his bed.

Next came the wrapping. Should the paper match your eyes or your hair? Should he get a large bow, or make one himself? There are so many gifts, should he wrap them together or individually?

Then comes the sweet. Sebek wanted to get your favorite, but had no clue what it was. What if it was a complicated recipe from your world? He would make it, of course he would. Yet how can he make what he’s never tasted himself?

It goes on like this. Every detail has to be perfect, or else it is not worthy. He begins to stress himself while doing a horrible job at hiding it from you. Eventually it becomes too painful to watch, yet all becomes clear on your birthday.

It’s at breakfast when you feel a tap on your shoulder, and Grimm points over to Diasmonia’s table with a shaking paw. Confused by his sudden fear, you turn to see your boyfriend glaring daggers into the back of your head

When your eyes meet, he shoots up and a loud bang resounds as his leg collides with the bottom of the table. Smooth.

After composing himself, he marches to your table with determination and demands that you meet him in the botanical garden after classes. Leaving no room for response, the man is back at his table and likely being laughed at by Silver

When you arrive, there is a table with the presents he bought stacked on top. All perfectly wrapped and arranged. You admire them briefly when the clatter of cutlery, followed by the sound of a match being lit catches your attention.

-However like Riddle they slowly got along but their bickering is still there
