Manastir Manasija je jedan od najznačajnijih srpskih spomenika srednjevekovne kulture i pod zaštitom je države. Pripada takozvanoj "Moravskoj školi". Manasiju je podigao despot Stefan Lazarević, poznat još i kao Visoki Stefan. Smatra se da njegove mošti danas leže u ovom manastiru, tačnije u južnom delu manastirske crkve ispod bele mermerne ploče. Izgradnja manastira je započeta 1407. godine, a završena je 1418. godine.
