Maanta the Ray, Kwami of Immersion

Maanta is a very calm and relaxed kwami, and it takes a lot to unease her. She tends to get along with most holders, and often manages to befriends ones who intend to use her powers selfishly. Her powers allow one to interact with matter in a unique way, such as moving through solid objects or swimming through the air.

Maanta's Miracuous is a polished marble ray pendant necklace, and their weapon is a fishing rod. Their favorite food is broth, and their transformation phase is "Maanta, fins flare!".

Maanta currently resides in the Drifting Box, which can be found wandering with its Guardian across the Pacific Islands.

I mean 😪, fifth 5️⃣ in line 📉 for the throne 🪑 and the crown 👑 rests 🛏️ on your head 🙆‍♂️. And each of your sisters 👯‍♀️ better 🥇 and more clever 👩‍🏫 than you. It really makes the unfortunate 🍀🚫 minor lord 🤵 of a less ↘️ than wealthy 💵 barony feel… well, a little underwhelming 😑😴.

Oh, I’ll say 📢, your sisters 👯‍♀️ were a little less lucky 🍀. The least 🥉 lucky 🍀 thing that ever happened to Rococoa 🍫 was when she found out 🕵️‍♀️ that I was selling 💰 weapons 🔫⚔️ to the Ceresians 🍞🥯. That… that had to be dealt with ☠️. And I think 🤔 you’ll remember how odd 🤪 it was that she was found riddles with arrows 🏹 so far behind our own lines 〰️. But that’s war 💣, and strange things happen in war 💣🧨 all the time ⏰.

The Ceresians 🥖🍞, I find are very reasonable, very reasonable and you can see 👓🔎some of their tents 🏕️ out here in the field 🌾.

My sister is sorta into Miraculous and wanted me to make kwamis for her and myself. I’m not personally that into the show but I admit kwamis are super fun to design and draw. Ruto is my sister’s and he’s the kwami of light while Vyraa is mine and is the kwami of power/strength.

This is a manta ray themed kwami OC idea that I had for Kagami. I figured the user would probably wield a sword, and gets from rooftop to rooftop by gliding. I’m not too sure what the special ability would be yet, but something involving flight or levitation would be pretty neat. Still brainstorming on that front =p!

Oh and I think I’m going to keep Kagami’s superhero name pretty straightforward: Mantaray!

Occurs in “Heroes day”

Unmoving.

Silent.

Unnoticed.

For months, the immobile and comatose body of one Emilie “Agreste” (for she denied the association to the name last time she was awake) was locked inside the cryochamber “preserving” her body.

Nothing seemed to happen, then suddenly, her eyes opened, and a wave of power shattered the cold prison she was in, and she stood, moving her body that was quickly recovering even after months in coma.

::Duusuu, it’s time.::

She spoke to her friend, so they can prepare for the final battle with Gabriel, something they were preparing for even when she was in her magical coma.

Meanwhile, Hawkmoth had just left his lair to get a better coordination of his army of scarlet akumas, leaving Nathalie as Catalyst along with Duusuu’s miraculous, not realizing what’s going to happen.

Just as he left, Duusuu appeared out of their miraculous, and promptly used their magic to make Nathalie ignore them as they took the miraculous towards Emilie who greeted them gently.

“It’s time, Duusuu, are you ready?”

Duusuu happily nodded, then told her that they need to be quick.

“I managed to restore a bit of power, so for now, we can transform and use our power for an hour before feeling side effects of using the broken miraculous.”

Of course, Duusuu didn’t tell Gabriel that, because why would they? And also, Gabriel was still possessed by the Amok hampering his planning and judgement so Duusuu was not forced to divulge any important information.

Emilie smiled in triumph, and viciously twisted off one of the buttons of the suit she’d been put in.

“Then, let’s give him hell. Duusuu, bright wings, rise!”

Once the transformation ended, Emilie lifted up the button she’d pulled off, and focused all of her rage and hatred towards Gabriel on it, fueling it with all the negative emotions she’d felt for what was now most of her life, until it blossomed into an Amok shaped like a giant silver and blue manta ray, her favorite animal since childhood, imbued with the power to completely destroy the Miraculouses and Miracle Box, with the goal of defeating Gabriel, rescuing her son and keeping him safe, and freeing the Kwami once and for all.

Emilie then used her emotion sensing power to go straight to Nathalie, and defeated the unprepared assistant who was completely outclassed, and her Akuma butterfly was burned just as the Akumatised object was destroyed.

Emilie and Duusuu would have liked purifying the butterfly, but they unfortunately didn’t have the time to do so, and though it felt cruel, one less butterfly meant one less Akuma her soon to be late husband would be able to create.

And with Catalyst no longer active, the power-up Hawkmoth gained was also ended.

Just as Hawkmoth was about to attack Ladybug who had just saw through Volpina’s illusion, and she went to dodge, he felt pain in his body, and he felt himself become weaker, and his Scarletmoth power vanished, and along with it, his power to make multiple Akumas, causing all of the Akumatised polulation to return to normal.

“Wha- what’s happening!?” he exclaimed, shocked and horrified.

His shock didn’t last long as Marinette, quick to adapt, gave him a swift and brutal punch to his head that he wasn’t prepared for, knocking him to the ground.

He quickly stood up, and managed to hold his own against her and Chat Noir solely due to being an adult with more strength and stamina, but even then, he was struggling, and soon the rest of the heroes came, and then he was just barely managing to hold his ground, still trying to find a way to escape.

“The power of the concepts themselves.”

A feminine voice was heard only to the heroes and Hawkmoth, none of the civilians hearing it, as the Eiffel Tower was isolated in an ethereal blue sphere.

Gabriel froze, Adrien gasped.

“The power to govern the universe.”

Gabriel looked up and saw a figure he didn’t think he would see again so soon, and his eyes widened with shock and fury.

“YOU!” He bellowed.

The heroes were completely shocked at this new Miraculous user, and were mentally preparing for the worst, but were also concerned at the level of rage in Hawkmoth’s reaction.

Emilie simply looked down at him with a deadly glare, before she looked at her Amok, who was forming a magical white sphere between her fins. The Amok was the one who had spoken, in a near perfect copy of Emilies voice, filled with rage and hatred and the need for vengeance and freedom.

“Concepts, I beg you! Stop that fiend from using your power any longer!”

With that, light engulfed the sphere, and an explosion of blinding light consumed the world for a few painful seconds. Not even closing your eyes protected you from it. It was almost more like a mental light than a real physical one, but the affect was the same.

When the light vanished, nothing happened for a moment, and then came the the sounds of cracking and shattering, and a second flash of light engulfed everyone there.

When this light faded, it took Marientte a second to comprehend that she was in fact, no longer transformed, and panic swallowed her.

Everyone knows she iss Ladybug!

Hawkmoth now knows who she is!

Everyone she knows is in danger!

She can quickly see Chloe, Nino, Alya, and Adrien’s shocked faces as they realized each other’s identity.

Wait- Adrien?!

Her panic stopped for a moment to look at Adrien, trying to comprehend why he is here, and she pales when she connects that her crush is her very same reckless and irresponsible partner who is harassing her, and she barely manages to hold her horrifed scream at the discovery, latching to a confused and bewildered Alya and hiding behind her as she tries to force herself to be brave but it is harder than she expects and small tears fall from her eyes at this cruel twist of fate. Not only does Hawkmoth know her identiy, Chat Noir does! And he’s the person she thought was nice! 

The children are so immersed in their own shock and horror (like Chloe seeing that her idol Ladybug was actually the girl who she tormented for years, and that Chat Noir, the person who was so rude to her when he had to give her the Miraculous, was her “Adrikins”. Yeah, that sucks for her) that they barely acknowledged that Gabriel was Hawkmoth, or that the kwamies are just around them as well, crying happily as they now became truly free.

What managed to attract their attention though is Gabriel’s furious and horrified screams at Emilie, something that made Adrien and Chloe more shocked, especially when they saw Emilie herself, now with no magical suit, and she was glaring at Gabriel. Duusuu was held carefully in her arms, weakened by the effort of transforming her without allowing her to be hurt by the still-broken Miraculous.

Gabriel raged, shouting so loudly people for blocks could hear the echoes, “I did everything for you! Everything so we can rule the world together! Why did you destroy my powers?!”

Emilie simply smirked at his raging face “We?” She asked sarcastically, “Your power? Don’t get too arrogant, Gabriel. After all, the kwami you treated like a slave is no longer under your control.”

“What are you talking about…” Gabriel’s puzzled expression slowly morphed into dread as he felt a powerful, angry aura, and looking at the source, his terror was matched only by his anger.

Nooroo, the kwami who Gabriel had forced to be silent and submissive, was now having a terrifyingly furious look on his face, targeted solely towards Gabriel. The air around him was literally vibrating with his rage, purple and black tears in reality opening up and closing like the eyespots on a moth’s wings.

When he spoke, the words were filled with all the rage and sorrow and pain he’s experienced while held as a slave by Gabriel. “So, Gabriel. Do you like where we are now? Or did you like it when I was your slave?”

The emotions forcefully pushed into the words along with his own instinctual fear drove Gabriel to his knees, and he stared up at the kwami he’d abused, completely helpless as he was forced to feel every emotion he had not only inflicted on Nooroo, but all of the people he’d Akumatized. Helplessness. Terror. Shame. Grief. Horror.

“Did you like it when you were forcing me to use my power for evil? When you forbade me from eating? When you took away my mouth? When I begged you to stop?” Every word Nooroo spoke drove the emotions deeper into Gabriel’s mind, forcing him to feel what Nooroo had felt.

The moth kwami raised his tiny hand.

“DIE.”

Another tear in reality shaped like an eye spot opened up right behind Gabriel, and snapped shut around him, removing Gabriel from existence permanently. 

Nooroo continued to float where he was for a few more seconds, seething with rage, before slowly, the eyespots closed, and didn’t open again, and he broke down crying as his tormentor was finally dealt with, he was finally free.

Dozens of kwami immediately flew to his side, tackling him in a group hug as they all cried together and tried to console him while they dealt with their own turbulent emotions about finally being freed.

Adrien wasn’t paying attention to the kwami group hug. He was still processing the fact that his father had been the villain, and was now dead. He kept finding himself staring at what he thought was his mother. But it couldn’t be, could it? He managed to ask her if she was really his mother, and then asked where she’d been, what had happened to her, 

Emilie knew that she will have to tell him, and she knew that Adrien needs her to be with him to deal with the abuse he was subjected to by Gabriel, and the trauma of watching his father die.

But, she also did not miss the fear and horror that Marinette, the girl who’d been the ladybug hero showed when she looked at her son. Emilie hadn’t seen alot, but Duusuu had caught her up on what she’d missed while she’d been in her coma. She knew now that Marinette and Adrien had been partnered superheroes fighting her now late husband.

And...Duusuu had also told her some of the details of the fights--especially the fight where Nathalie, that traitor, had created a fake Ladybug sentimonster to trick Chat Noir into betraying the real one...

...becaues it was a well-known fact that Chat Noir was obsessed with Ladybug, and would stop at nothing to control her, even though she’d rejected him many times...

...and now she knew that Chat Noir had been her son. 

She had just awoken and she was already starting to get a headache from the stress of it.

Just what happened when she was in a coma?

The aftermath of Hawkmoth’s attack spreads like a wildfire, and a lot of mysteries were discovered, and shown to the population of Paris.

Who Hawkmoth was.

The reappearance of Adrien’s mother, Emilie.

The identities of the heroes (this one is optional).

And of course, the horrors of what Gabriel did, both in the mask and out of it. To his employees, to his son, to his wife.

Dealing with all of that was tiring to Emilie, but she believed that it was worth it.

The first thing she did after dealing with Gabriel is to use the monsterous amount of money Gabriel had amassed, and distributed it through the city, destroying those damned Agreste mansions and turning them into apartment buildings where there was no rent, anyone could live there for free. She’d spent too long trapped in her abusive marriage in that horrible mansion to ever consider it home again. That one in particular she and Duusuu teamed up to clear out the items inside, giving them away for free, before joining the demolition teams and physically kicking and punching walls into pieces, able to fuse together without a Miraculous, thanks to the magical bond they’d formed while she was in her coma.

Unlike transforming using a Miraculous, this was a true symbiotic transformation, with both parties equally in control and conscious. Duusuu and Emilie became a shared entity, with physical traits from both of them, so that they ended up looking definitely not human, but also definitely not kwami. 

She decided to rent a normal house to live in with Adrien, to bond as mother and son.

This did not stop her from being horrified when she realised how cruel her son acted, and the trauma he caused to Marinette, and many others. She was absolutely horrified to realize just how much like his father he’d become. 

She can still remember the girl’s raging and broken voice telling (yelling actually) Adrien that she will never ever trust him again, or want to be anywhere close to him for that matter.

Emilie can hope that Marinette’s therapy will help her deal with that, along with the rest of the trauma that came with being forced to be a superhero as a child.

Emilie took it has her parental duty to get Adrien to therapy, and to teach him to be a better person, and to end his abusive behaviors. 

It was not easy, and Adrien was also stubborn, but as she, and Henri, his bodyguard --who lives next to them (he didn’t want to bother them when she asked him)-- were there for him, he was slowly trying. 

It’s a long way, but at least, he is going on the right path.

Aside from putting money into housing, Emilie also created shelters for abused kids and adults, and paid therapists in the city more than five years wages so that they would be able to treat any patients who asked them for free.

The kwami, for the first time in many human generations, were free, and though they still needed to get used to it, they were overall overjoyed and estatic at the change, and could be seen all over the city at any time, zipping through the air, exploring new things, and talking to people if they felt like it. 

All in all, there’s hope of a better future.

This is weird and it only just occurred to me, but it seems there’s only really only miraculous for an aquatic creature (the turtle), no dolphin or fish or manta ray or anything

I heard there was a gamma squad of miraculous users so I thought I'd sketch out what I would be with the mouse miraculous. :) Also I got to play around with markers.

The costume is a little busy, but I really liked the idea of a cape with mouse tails. (I drew a rear view; it kinda looks like a manta ray). Each time you separate the tails split until each mini mouse has one.

It'd be less busy with choosing either the cape OR skirt, but I do like skirts so here we are.

I'm gonna go with a frisbee. Mostly because manta rays don't have stingers, and we haven't seen a frisbee yet.

DAY 1 OF MY MIRACULOUS OCTOBER PROMPT LIST: MIRACUSONA

I really like manta rays! So that’s what I chose. The original colour palette was light blue/white/black and it looked too similar to Bunnyx. So i said fuck it and used pink n now im living my best life. Hero names??? I thought Atlantis was pretty cool, but now that the design isn’t blue it makes less sense in my head, so I’m renaming them Pancake. They aren’t a very serious hero. Their power would be something to do with Regeneration (like the opposite of Chat’s power, being able to fix broken things!) They can fly/glide and their tool/weapon would be something similar to a whip? Kinda like a manta rays tail? They use they/them pronouns, they love candy, and they don’t really like doing anything productive in the slightest.

you have a stuffed buffalo? cool I have a wolf! it's like a pillow so he is long and very squishy.

Luna has one! It's a little wolf plushie that she bring everywhere. It helps with her anxiety and if Max isn't with her she has her wolf.

Olli has a Manta Ray! He LOVES Manta Rays! They are his favorite animal!

I feel like Frost had a plushie when she was a pup but she no longer has it.

Svetlana might have a few. She definitely has a wolf (haha funny, she's the holder of the wolf miraculous)

Brooke has a Djungelskog.

Emily has one that her father gave her. It's a Lion, he always called her his little lion.

ML verse -- Raava is the kwami of the Manta Ray miraculous, which is an anklet. She grants the wearer the power of the four primal elements: Earth, Wind, Water, and Fire using ancient martial arts techniques, specifically kung fu, tai chi, and baguazhang. Her Miraculous power up is a supercharged energy boost that lasts for the entirety of the power-up. The user’s eyes glow, and if any tattoos are on the chi paths, they will glow as well. After five minutes, the user’s eyes cease glowing, and they detransform.

More advanced users can master this and go in and out of this power at will during their entire transformation.

The hero name is Elementris.
