I love the tenderness and love of Mareach, I rewatched the Mario Movie and I still cannot get over them in every game - and people's headcanons, how they're potrsyed just so in love it makes me cry, I love them being sappy lovey dovey dorks where they can enjoy domestic moments or high fun, this is more domestic however, just enjoying each others company with love and affections.

What was the deal with The Great Mission to Rescue Princess Peach? Was it whoever had the other half of her brooch was the one she was destined to marry? Something along those lines?

My proposal is simply to give Mario that brooch. Make him find it as a kid or something.

Better yet, if you wanted to really solidify that loving Mario is a choice Peach makes—that every day, she chooses him, despite the difference of their social classes, despite his self doubt, and despite her fear—make it so that there is no other half of the brooch. Instead, Peach has a brooch exactly like hers crafted, and gives it to Mario.

(Bonus points if she proposes to him with it.)
