Daminette December 2023: 13-Wednesday
Paris couldn't believe what they were seeing: Marinette Dupain-Cheng was in Gotham Academy, in uniform! They hadn't see her in four years! What shocked them even more was seeing her arguing with some guy and she wasn't backing down.
The students in Gotham Academy didn't pay them any attention. Everyone ignored the shouting and yelling; they just kept walking as if they didn't see or hear them.
"Shouldn't you get a teacher?" Nino asked a student passing by.
"For what?" asked the brunette.
The class pointed at the arguing students.
"Wat day is it?" the brunette questioned.
"Wednesday." Max answered, "Does it matter?"
"It's their 'Argue Day'." the Gotham student declared.
"Argue day?" Mylene asked, confused.
"Yeah." the student stated, with a shrug, "Like clockwork. Teachers learned to deal with it. They get competitive, too."
"My boyfriend wouldn't put up with this sort of thing." Lila declared, "He hates violence."
"Oh, who is you boyfriend?" the brunette questioned.
"Damian Wayne." Lila smiled.
The brunette started laughing and pointing at Lila.
"Dude?" the blonde nearby questioned.
"This bitch said Damian Wayne is her boyfriend! She also said he hated violence!" the brunette answered and continued to laugh.
The blonde joined, howling with laughter. The Paris class shifted uncomfortably.
"Listen here, Faker," the blonde spoke, "you're not dating our ice Prince. Not to mention Damian is one of the most violent Waynes to roam these halls."
Lila sniffled, "He just doesn't want the media to know. I'm not lying."
"Well, that's lie number two." the brunette counted, "Damian doesn't care about the media. They gave him the title 'Ice Prince'."
"Do you know how many reporters have broken their arms, hands, or fingers trying to get a scoop from him?" the blonde questioned.
"You the ones lying!" Aly shouted, "Lila said he was kind and helpful Damian Wayne does charity work with her, for the environment!"
"It's not that hard to look up." the blonde scoffed, :About every other weekend, he's in the park casually talking to Poison Ivy, Harley Quinn, and playign with their hyenas as they plan 'How to green up Gotham'."
Lila paled hearing how he associated with rogues. That hadn't been what she expected.
"Supposedly, his mother is just as bad as they are." the brunette declared, "If not worse."
Lila gulped, trying to figure out how to keep her classmates under her control as her lie began to unravel.
"If anything, it sound like you googled 'rich kid+my age in Gotham' and Damian Wayne popped up first." the blonde responded.
"How can you say that about our friend?" Kim demanded.
The boys pointed to Marinette and the boy arguing still.
"That is Damian Wayne." the brunette answered, "By tomorrow, they'll be back to cuddling and kissing, like they have been for the past three years."
"They basically chose one day a week to let their frustrations out on each other." the blonde spoke, "It just happens to be on Wednesday."
The Parisians turned to Lila for an answer.
"I-I'm sure that's not it." Lila declared in a panic.
"Oh, really?" questioned the blonde boy, "Yo, Mari! How many times did Damian drug your coffee and drag you to bed, last week?"
"Four!" she shouted, still glaring at him.
Damian scoffed, "It was three."
"Liar!" Marinette screamed.
The class watched on in confusion.
"Damian, how many times did Mari make you new clothes last month?" the brunette asked.
"Ten!" Damian exclaimed in frustration.
Marinette scoffed, "Like you don't complain about those 'monkey suits' and how uncomfortable they are."
"I didn't ask you to go out of you way, Angel, and make me those things!" Damian rebutted.
"Oh, so now my designs are things?" Mari declared, "I just wanted you to be comfortable!"
"I'm fine!" the young Wayne sighed, "You need to sleep!"
"How long did she stay up?" the blonde questioned.
"She didn't sleep." Damian growled.
Marinette threw her hands up before resting them on her hips, "I slept on the drive over. I drank Tim's coffee. It usually has at least five espressos. Not the most I've had."
"What?" Damian shouted.
"Ah, so that's the reason this time." the brunette spoke.
"Sorry, Liar, but no one in Gotham will believe that you are anything to Gotham's Ice Prince when there are pictures being posted, like this, by his very own brothers." the blonde declared.
He turned his phone around to see Marinette and Damian dressed in pajamas and curled up in bed together.
"Everyone in Gotham Academy knows they live together at Wayne Manor." he continued, "Not to mention, the moment someone tries to touch her or get in her personal space, he threatens to kill them."
"He had five knives taken away this month." the brunette stated.
"Actually, it was eight." the blonde commented.
"Oh, when did I miss those?" the brunette questioned.
"You were sick for a week." the blonde answered.
"Gotha." the brunette spoke, "So, good luck and welcome to Gotham."
"Have a good Wednesday." the blonde spoke as they walked away.
Marinette yawned, "Why am I yawning? I drank Tim's coffee."
"Todd switched his coffee with decaf." Damian smiled, "You just happened to drink it, instead."
"No." she whined, "You did this on purpose!"
"I did not force you to drink Drake's coffee not did I force you to stay up all night." he answered, "If anything, Todd is upset that you ruined his prank."
"But-" Mari yawned again.
Damian smirked and picked her into his arms, "We are going home and you are going to bed."
"School." Marinette replied.
"I already messaged the teachers on the ride over that e would be missing the next two days." the young Wayne answered, "I've also paid Todd $100 for messing up his plan. In exchange, he will bring you lunch and dinner."
Marinette didn't respond and curled up in his arms. Damian just walked out of the school.
"Okay!" someone shouted, "Who had them making up under fifteen minutes?"
"Awww, man!"
"I could have sworn they would argue longer today."
"Didn't expect her to not sleep."
"Or have decaf."
"If she had just had that coffee."
"How much did you lose?"
"$20."
"Lucky; $30."
"50."
Paris watched on as money was exchanged. Marinette and Damian Wayne's couple argument had gotten so common that people were gambling on it. They started to turn to Lila, who obviously had no idea how to explain what had just happened.
"So, you really were a liar." Nathaniel whispered, "Marinette was right, all along."
"I don't think we'll get to apologize to Marinette," Rose sniffled, "But she looks happy."
"Can't say you will be by the end of this trip, Lila." Alix sneered.
Lila was out of her element as Gotham had quickly spread her lie about dating Damian. No one believed her and if she said anything, they would just laugh at her. Not to metion her own classmates were now ignoring her. This hadn't been what she had planned; it was just another Wednesday. Nothing special about it.

breaking more hearts than mine - part II
Lilith’s home is nice, on the end of a fairly steep road far out of town and perfect for gatherings like this.
It’s not at all the kind of place Beatrice would have imagined for her. Lilith seemed so caught up in the hustle of the city. She was forever moving and seeking - trying to find something that wasn't there, that certainly wasn't here.
Yet, it suits her. It’s rough, winding roads and a long drive to even reach the store.
What it is, really, is just like Lilith. If you want to get to her, you have to put in the effort.
Once welcomed inside, the sounds of music Beatrice couldn't name, but recognizes all the same, plays through the speakers. There are bowls and plates of food on the counter, the sizzle of cooking from the wide open sliding glass door.
It’s such a far cry from the parties her parents would throw in this same town, on the rich side of it, where nobody laughed or smiled - the food was kept separate and cooked by people paid to do it.
Now, Mary’s at the grill with Camila hovering around her asking a dozen questions that Mary seems thrilled to answer. Shannon is chatting up with Yasmine and Michael - seemingly enthralling them with some kind of story.
“This is nice,” Lucia says, tipping down her sunglasses as they step out.
Beatrice nods. “It is. Mary’s a very good cook according to Lilith.”
“Well then I can't wait.”
“Okay, it should be good!” Lilith’s voice carries over the whole yard and catches Beatrice’s attention. She turns to see Lilith holding a hose, her gray shirt wet from the waist down and beneath her is an inflatable pool with little fish painted all across it.
“You ready ducky?” Ava says and Beatrice turns to see her.
Ava’s dressed to swim, a pair of trunks with shrimp on them, flip flops on her feet and a strapless white bikini top.
In her arms is Aly, wearing a blue one piece of her own with an adorable look on her face as her big brown eyes stare at the pool with a mixture of caution and wonder.
Beatrice feels something fit into her hand as Lucia leans her head on Beatrice’s shoulder. “She’s cute, isn’t she?”
For a half second, Beatrice thinks Lucia is talking about Ava. Because Ava is…something else entirely in that bikini, but then her brain catches up. “She is,”

Fashion Disaster, But Maybe Not
Mari POV
Even after leaving Ms. Bustiers’ class, anytime one of my ex-friends had a problem, Bustier would look to me to fix it. Before transferring to Ms. Mendeleiev’s class I was planning on debuting my first fashion line with a fashion show. My brand MDC was taking off and I wanted my friends to share in my success. I planned on having my classmates model for me but then Lila came along and most of them now thought I was a mean bully.I had;Nino, Alya, Adrien, Rose, and Juleka. Kagami and Luka also believed me but since they were both home-schooled, they couldn’t really do anything. I was upset that most of my ex-friends thought I would bully someone, especially since I was bullied by Chloe for years. Instead of letting it get to me, I decided to continue with my show. Rose, Juleka, and Adrien would model, Alya would live to stream on her blog, and Nino would provide the music. I set up in the park near my house. As I was setting up I heard footsteps and assumed it was Rose and Juleka. “I think we should begin soon so you can go ahead and get ready,” I turned to see Ms.Bustier and the rest of my ex-class. “What do you want?” I was confused as to why they were there. “Well I saw you were setting up a fashion show and thought this was the perfect time to apologize to your classmates by letting them into your show,” Bustier said as if she had any right to tell ME what to do at MY fashion show. The class looked at me expectantly as If I owe them anything. Even Lila looked as if she thought I would agree to this. face.“No!” I blurted out. “No? Now Marinette you know you’re supposed to be an example for your class, stop being selfish and let us into your show” Ms.Bustier. I had enough. This teacher not only let my class walk all over me but expected me to let them, expected me to plan trips and fundraise by myself, she left me alone and she still expects me to coddle to my ex-classmate's whims! No way am I letting her dictate my life anymore. “No, My former classmates are not going to be allowed in MY show. I have nothing to be sorry for. They turned their back on me and now they want me to let them into the fashion show I worked hard on, no way!” I yelled. “Now Marinette you are my star pupil and you should be helping your classmate and not acting like a spoiled child” Bustier chided me. I smirked before answering “You are no longer my teacher if you remember and they are no longer my classmates, even if I were still in your class. This is not a school event and you have no authority here. So leave before I have the police throw you out. This is a private event, meaning invite only and none of you have an invite” I pointed toward the exit. Bustier and the class looked stunned. “Kindness and compassion are honorable but not when you use them as an excuse to not punish bullies for their wrongdoing,” Said a voice behind me. I looked and saw Kagami along with Luka beside her. “ You Ms.Bustier are not fit to be a teacher and I will be sure to complain to the school board about your incompetence,” Said Kagami glaring at Ms.Bustier and the rest of her class. “Hey, rockstars” greeted Jagged Stone walking up to me. “Congrats on your first fashion show, little lady,” said Jagged. “Hey Jagged, Why to talk to that bully when you can talk to Lila?” asked Kim. “who? I don't know any Lila” replied Jagged confused. The class looked confused and looked to Lila for an answer. “And Lila I texted Ali and it seems he’s never heard of you or your charity before” Added Rose. The class was shocked and no one moved for a second. “Now class Lila has a disease and you shouldn't blame her” Said Bustier trying to calm the enraged teens. Then a woman came towards us "Lila, you are grounded. How dare you lie to me! . "screamed Lila’s mother. “There seem to be a few celebrities that want to sue you for defamation” Lila’s mom seethed. I continued with the fashion show. The rest of Bustier’s class tried to get back in my good graces but I didn’t forgive them, not yet at least. Maybe I’ll forgive them but for now, I just want to hang out with my real friends.

dorothea (part three of five) | h. targaryen
Description: Helaena can't get enough of you. She accidentally likes your post with the 'Dorothea Mae' alter ego.
Pairing: helaena targaryen/cam-girl!reader
part two
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Helaena found herself booking another session the following day. She found her conversation with the girl to be - interesting. Like she's known Dorothea since they were babies.
Booked another session, huh. Will you finally let me dance?
She smiles while reading the email - she was seventeen again. Fangirling over a message that you sent on myspace. She types on her keyboard furiously, not wanting you to waste another second.
Depends, will you wear the black and red lingerie? (;
She answered in return - not knowing if it was appropriate to send these messages to someone that she didn't know in real life. Maybe, it was time to read the terms of conditions in onlyfans. Or was that not applicable since the both of you were talking in another website? (a.k.a the bootleg email she used for pornhub in 2018.)
For you, maybe...
The girl replied, and all of the air was taken out of her lungs. She wouldn't have fallen this deep if Dorothea wasn't a damn temptress with the messages that she sent. It was probably foreplay - but she couldn't help but think that there was another meaning to her words.
Hmm, Intriguing (:
Helaena typed back slowly - not wanting to seem desperate of cunt. She needed to play a role - not the normal Helaena, but the one who could actually afford to be a bad girl. She glances at her open door, eyes interlocking with the Statue of Virgin Mary.
"Lord, forgive me." she looked at the sky, standing up from her bed and locking the door shut. 'We are all made in God's liking. There's nothing wrong with me' she repeated in her mind like a mantra.

Your eyes narrowed at the notification.
Helaena?
You took a deep breath - trying to understand the situation. It was something that you expected to happen, but not with your best friend? As far as you knew, she was straight as a ruler - despite your 'smooth operator' moves on her in highschool.
You press on the picture, breathing a sigh of relief now that her like was removed.
She probably pressed on it by accident, right?

Summary: Eddie and Chrissy have been arrested, and during their time in their cells, they both have a realisation. Meanwhile, Jason does something that might cost his relationship with Mary.
Warning: swearing, smoking, weed consumption, mention of abusive parent(s), blood.

Eddie and Chrissy were standing in a police station in Malad City, as they were asked to empty their pockets, while one of the officers stated, “Let’s see...arrested for drug possession and assaulting a police officer.”
Chrissy lowered her head as she took out her pack of chewing gum, while Eddie took out his bandana, his lighter and pack of cigarettes. As they placed the items in the tray, the officer asked them if they had anything else.
“No sir,” Chrissy meekly replied, when Eddie felt his back pocket, realising that he had the photo of you and the Hellfire members inside. He slowly took it out and gazed at it, before putting it in the tray. Chrissy noticed a sad expression on his face as she watched him.
Both Eddie and Chrissy were told that they were to have their mugshots taken.
Once that was done, the officer told them,
“You get one phone call.”
Eddie turned to a worried Chrissy and said, “I’ll do it.”
Chrissy was escorted by one of the other officers while he approached the desk to make a call.
He couldn’t call Wayne, because he was scared of his reaction, and he couldn’t call any of Hellfire, as they probably wouldn’t bail him out. Then he thought about you, hoping that you might help him, but then he remembered how he treated you earlier, so that was you off the list. Suddenly, he thought of Steve. He knew that he was working, but maybe he could help, so he dialled the Family Video landline.
He pressed the phone against his ear, waiting for a response, when he heard Steve’s voice, “Family Video, how can I help?”
“Harrington, it’s Eddie,” Eddie replied, before he told Steve quickly. “Chrissy and I are in Malad City, and we’ve been arrested-“
“Woah, wait! Slow down, Munson. What are you trying to say?”
Eddie huffed before slowly telling Steve, “Chrissy and I are in Malad City. We’ve both been arrested-“
“Arrested? Both of you?”
“Yes, for drug possession-“
“You’ve been arrested for drug possession?”
“Yes, and for assault-“ Suddenly Eddie heard Robin cry, “Steve!”
“What?!” Steve shouted from the other end.
Eddie noticed the silence, when he asked, “Steve, are you there? What’s going on?”
“Shit,” Eddie heard Steve say.
“Steve, what’s going-? Hello? Hello, Harrington?” The long dialling tone was the only thing Eddie could hear. He slammed the phone down, before he was escorted by another officer to a cell.
Meanwhile, in Hawkins, Mary and Jason were watching a movie with Cain when the phone rang. “I’ll get it,” Mary said as she got up. She then went up to the phone before answering, “Hello-“
Mary was cut off my Robin’s rambling, when she told her, “Robin, breathe...Now, start from the beginning.”
Robin explained that you had cut your hand and Steve took you to the hospital, before she blabbed about Eddie and Chrissy being arrested.
“What? You’re kidding,” Mary told her. “Thanks for letting me know. Bye.”
After she hung up, Mary went back into the living room, as she told Cain and Jason what happened to you.
“Is she okay?” Jason asked.
“Steve’s with her,” she replied, as she grabbed her bag, before quietly telling him, “Robin also told me that Eddie and Chrissy have been arrested.”
“What?! What for?” Jason whispered.
“Not sure, I’ll ask Steve if he knows something.”
“I’ll go with you.”
She then turned her dad, as she asked, “Will you be okay on your own for a while?”
“Of course, you two go and check on her,” Cain replied.
Later on, you were having the top of your hand stitched up, while Steve was in the waiting room, when Mary and Jason stormed in.
“Where is she? Is she okay?” A worried Mary asked Steve.
“She’s getting her hand stitched up, but they said that she’ll be okay,” Steve replied.
“What happened?” Jason asked.
“She said that she was opening one of the shipments and she accidentally cut her hand with the Stanley knife,” Steve explained. “I guess she overheard what I said to Eddie and got distracted.”
“Robin also said that he and Chrissy got arrested.”
“Yeah, for uh...drug possession and something else. I didn’t hear what he said, as Robin was calling for me.”
Mary sighed, when Steven suddenly snapped his fingers and said, “Oh! He said that they’re in Malad City.”
“Malad City?” Jason repeated, before telling Mary. “You stay with Harrington. I’ll see if I can get them out.”
Mary was about to protest when Jason ran out of the hospital. As she turned back to face Steve, she couldn’t help but worry that Jason may still have feelings for Chrissy and that it was the reason why he decided to go to Malad City.
A moment later in Malad City, Eddie and Chrissy were in their cells, awaiting to be interrogated. While Chrissy was sitting down with her chin on her knees, Eddie was pacing around, panicking. “I’m not gonna able to graduate. I’m not gonna be able to graduate,” Eddie muttered frantically over and over.
“Can you stop?” Chrissy quietly snapped. “You’re making me nervous.”
Chrissy looked over to the officer carefully taking out the bag of weed out of her rucksack, as she said in a hushed tone, “If you hadn’t yanked my bag away, they wouldn’t have known that I had it in there.”
Eddie went up to her, as he quietly told her, “I asked you before we left my stuff at my place, if you had any weed on you, and you said no.”
“Well, excuse me for leaving it in my bag,” she retorted. “But I couldn’t just leave it in the house or in school, my mom would’ve killed me.”
Eddie rubbed the back of his head, as Chrissy rubbed the palm of her hand. “How’s your hand?” Eddie asked, as he lowered his arms.
“Still sore,” Chrissy replied.
Suddenly, Eddie started bursting into laughter, before telling her, “I still can’t believe you slapped that cop in the back.”
“Well, I thought he was hurting you.” Eddie smirked at her, before she started laughing, “The way you kicked that officer was pretty funny though.”
“Hey!” Eddie exclaimed. “I hurt my ass doing that.”
After the pair finished laughing, Eddie sighed before telling Chrissy, “I’m sorry, Chrissy. For this, for everything.”
Chrissy silently listened to Eddie, as he continued to speak, “I guess I got so caught up with everything that I lost sight of things. I mean, I thought dating the most popular girl in school was the best thing that had ever happen to me, but all it did was cost me so much. Hellfire, the band, everything.”
Chrissy stayed silent when Eddie stuttered, “D-don’t get me wrong. I’m not blaming you, it’s just-“
“It’s okay, I get it,” Chrissy interjected. “I also lost sight of things too.”
Chrissy then stood up, before continuing to speak. “I thought breaking up with Jason was best for me, but I wonder if I made a mistake. Maybe if I had been more open with him, we would’ve figured something out.”
“Do you still love him?” Eddie asked.
Chrissy silently nodded, before admitting, “There’s still a part of me that still does. When I saw him with Mary, it made me realise how much I miss him.”
Eddie sat down and sighed, before he asked, “I guess maybe we were better off as friends?”
A tear fell down Chrissy’s cheek, as she began to apologise, “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t be,” Eddie replied. “It’s the best for the both of us.” After Chrissy wiped her tears, she asked about you.
“What about her?” A confused Eddie asked.
Before Chrissy could ask, she and Eddie heard a familiar voice ask the chief, “Where are they?”
It was Jason.
Eddie and Chrissy moved closer to get a better look, seeing the back of the familiar varsity jacket.
The chief asked him who he was. “I’m their frien-classmate,” Jason replied. “What are they being charged with?”
“Drug possession and assault on an officer.”
Jason wasn’t sure what to do about the assault, but as for the drug possession, he had an idea. Even if Eddie and Chrissy, also especially if Mary was going to hate him for it.
“Look, I don’t know about the assault, but as for drug possession. I’ll tell you this, Chrissy doesn’t do drugs. She’s straight as an arrow.”
“Well, clearly you don’t know her well enough-“
“We were together for two years. Our families are friends. I mean, tell me. Does she look like the kind of person that would do drugs?”
The chief looked over to the cell, observing Chrissy and then Eddie, before turning back to Jason, as he told you, “Maybe not, but her boyfriend on the other hand, does.”
“Okay, he may look...rogue, but he wouldn’t be stupid to take drugs with him if he had any,” Jason replied. He then sighed, before asking him. “Listen, if I tell you who the drugs belong to, would you let them go?”
“That depends,” the chief leaned back as he asked, “What kind of information do you have?”
Jason sighed, before asking for a pen and paper to write on. Eddie and Chrissy watched Jason leaning forward, as Chrissy asked, “What’s he doing?”
“No idea,” Eddie replied.
Jason had finished writing and passed it to the chief, as he said, “Here.”
The chief read the note, as he said, “We’ve heard of him. We’ll look into it.”
“So, does that mean that you’ll let my friends go?”
The chief sighed, before calling one of the officers and told them to release Chrissy and Eddie. The chief told him about the fine, which Jason was happy to pay for them.
The officer grabbed his key and approached the cells, as he said, “Cunningham! Munson! You’re free to go.”
“Wait, what?” A dumbfounded Eddie asked.
“Unless you want to spend the night in here.”
Eddie shook his head, as the officer unlocked the cells, before Eddie and Chrissy stepped out. They were then escorted to the desk, as they were asked to sign some forms. As they were given back their possessions, Chrissy began to ask Jason, “How did you-?”
“I’ll explain later,” Jason replied.
Back in Hawkins, Steve took you and Mary home after you had your hand stitched up. “Thanks for taking us home,” you told Steve, as you and Mary got out of his car. “No worries,” Steve replied.
“I can come in tomorrow, if you and Robin need help.”
“Don’t worry, I’m sure we’ll both manage.”
“Well, hopefully Keith’s okay.”
After you both said goodbye, Steve drove off.
As you and Mary went back in the house, you noticed a vacant expression on her face. “Are you alright?”
Mary looked at you and nodded, as she gave you a small smile.
You both went into a living room, and greeted your uncle, who asked, “How’s your hand?”
“Well, I can’t do anything physical with it, but other than that, I’m okay,” you replied.
“Where’s Jason?”
You turned to Mary, waiting for her response, but she didn’t say anything. You quickly told him, “He said that he had to do something.”
“That’s a pity, he was enjoying that movie.”
“I’m gonna take a shower,” Mary suddenly announced, before asking you. “Will you be okay with looking after dad until I come back down?”
“Sure,” you replied as Mary went upstairs.
You turned around and sat on the couch. You were worried about not being able to play with Corroded Coffin. You looked at the clock, as you thought, I can’t disturb the campaign now. I’ll call Gareth tomorrow.
Meanwhile, Mary was entering the bathroom. After she had locked the door, she sat on the edge of the bath, before she started sniffling. She couldn’t help but think that Jason was still in love with Chrissy and was going to win her back.
In Malad City, Jason drove Eddie and Chrissy back to the parking lot, so Eddie could get his van.
“Thanks for the ride, Carver,” Eddie said, as they got out of the van. “But how did you know that we were here?”
Jason explained that Robin told Mary that you and Steve were at the hospital for your hand, before explaining that Steve told them what happened with Eddie and Chrissy.
“Shit, is she okay?” Eddie asked.
“Harrington said she needed stitches. Other than that, she’s okay,” Jason replied. “I didn’t get a chance to see her-“
Suddenly, sirens were going off, as police cars drove past the parking lot. “I wonder what’s going on?” Chrissy asked.
“Guess they’re gonna do it,” Jason muttered.
“What?” Eddie asked.
Jason shifted his attention back and forth between Eddie and Chrissy, before confessing, “I told them that the drugs belonged to Reefer Rick.”
“What?” Chrissy asked.
Jason scratched his head, before telling her, “I know it was stupid, but I had get you out. Both of you.”
“Shit,” Eddie muttered under his breath, before he ran to his van. “Eddie? Where are you going?” Chrissy asked, as he got into the van.
“Something I need to do,” Eddie replied, before he drove off.
“Can’t believe he didn’t take you,” Jason began to speak, before he said sarcastically, “Some boyfriend.”
“Eddie and I broke up earlier,” Chrissy admitted.
“Oh,” a surprised Jason exclaimed, before he placed his hand on her shoulder and said, “I’m sorry, Chris.”
“It’s okay. It was a mutual decision,” Chrissy told him, before asking him. “Why did you do it?”
Jason gazed at her, as Chrissy asked, “Why did you tell them that it was Rick’s?”
Jason sighed before telling her, “You’ve been through enough with your family, and I knew that this was the last thing you wanted to happen. That’s why I bailed you and Munson out.”
Chrissy smiled at him, before thanking him, as she hugged him.
“You’re welcome,” Jason replied when suddenly, Chrissy turned her head and kissed him.
Jason immediately pulled away, as he exclaimed, “No.”
As Jason moved back, Chrissy’s voice cracked, “I-I’m sorry. I shouldn’t have done that.”
She then began to sniffle, “I just...I just miss you. I thought I would be happier with Eddie, but I feel like I’ve made a mistake.”
Jason shook his head, as he sighed, “Look, Chrissy. I still care about you, but I’m with Mary now.”
Chrissy lowered her head, as Jason quietly apologised. Chrissy then shook her head, and said as she raised her head to look at him, “It’s okay.”
“Come on, I’ll take you home.”
Jason opened the passenger door for Chrissy. After Chrissy got in, Jason closed the door, before he got in. As they buckled up, Jason said, “Chrissy?”
“Yes, Jason?” Chrissy looked up as she asked.
“I want you to know that, if you need to get away from your mom...you’re welcome to stay with my family for as long as you need. Your brother too. You’re both welcome at ours.”
Chrissy tearfully replied, as she smiled, “Thank you.”
Jason smiled back at her, before he started driving back to Hawkins.
A few moments later in Hawkins, Mary was coming out of the bathroom, wearing her pyjamas, as she went to her room. She sat on the edge of her bed, when she turned to look at her telephone. She sighed, deciding to whether or not to call Jason, as she reached for it from her nightstand. After a short while of thinking, she decided to pick up the phone and dialled Jason’s number. However, no one was answering. Mary huffed, as she put the phone back on the nightstand, before she had put on her hoodie and sweatpants over her pyjamas, and went downstairs. “I’m going out, I won’t be long,” Mary announced, as she grabbed her keys and left. You and Cain looked at each other, confused with Mary’s sudden departure.
A moment later, Mary was in her car, driving through a street, when she spotted Jason’s car outside his house.
She was about to get out when she noticed Chrissy by the window. Mary stared at the window as she watched Jason walking towards Chrissy.
She could see the two of them talking before she watched Chrissy give Jason a peck on the cheek, before hugging him. Mary felt her heart break, as she noticed him smiling as they hugged.
Tears ran down her face, as she started to car and drove off, missing a chance to see Jason’s mother giving Chrissy a spare blanket.
The next day, you called Gareth to let him know what happened, before telling him, “I’m sorry for letting you guys down.”
“Don’t be,” you heard Gareth reply. “We’ll figure something out. You just focus on your recovery.”
“Thanks. I’ll see you guys on Monday.”
After saying goodbye, you hung up the phone.
A few seconds later, Mary came into the kitchen, as she asked who was on the phone, while pouring herself a cup of coffee.
“That was Gareth,” you replied, as you put on a clean bandage to cover your stitches. “I told him that I can’t rehearse with them.”
You looked up at Mary, as you noticed that her eyes were puffy, “Are you okay?” You asked, before you sighed. “Of course you’re not. Stupid question.”
“It’s okay,” Mary replied. “Just still in shock I guess.”
“I can’t believe Jason went back to Chrissy.” You took a bite of your sandwich, before you continued to speak, “Then again, after the shit Eddie pulled recently, it wouldn’t have surprised me if she left him to get back with Carver.”
Suddenly, Mary had burst into tears. You got up and hugged your cousin, as you apologised, “Sorry, I didn’t mean for it to come out-“
“It’s okay,” Mary sobbed as she hugged you tightly. “I really liked him.”
“I know. I know you did.” You pulled away and wiped her tears, as you suggested, “Look, why don’t you have the day to yourself, and I’ll look after Uncle Cain?”
“Are you sure?” Mary asked.
“Well, I can’t exactly do much,” you replied, you raised your injured hand.
Suddenly, the door knocked. “I’ll get it,” you told her, before you went to open the door. “Hey.”
It was Jason. “How’s your hand?” He asked, when you crossed your arms as you sternly glared at him.
Jason‘s face fell, as he asked, “What? What’s wrong?”
“You tell me,” you spat.
Before Jason could answer, Mary poked her head through the door to see who it was.
Jason noticed her, as he said, “Mary, I-“
Mary stormed out and ran upstairs to her room as Jason called out to her, “Mary, wait.”
As Jason followed her, you heard Mary say, “Go back to your girlfriend and leave me alone.”
As a confused Jason followed her into the bedroom, he asked, “What are you talking about?”
“Chrissy,” Mary cried, as she turned to face a wide-eyed Jason. “I saw you two last night. I came over, because no one was answering the phone and I got worried. But there you two were, cuddling.”
Jason rubbed his jaw, before telling her, “I can explain-“
“Explain what? That you’re still in love with her?”
“I’m not still in love with her! I’m just letting her and her brother stay because she’s having problems at home.”
“Yeah right,” Mary sarcastically replied.
“It’s the truth.”
You furrowed your brows, as you tried to listen to the muffled argument. You were about to check on them when suddenly, the phone rang. You picked it up, and answered, “Hello?”
“Hey, it’s Wayne,” you heard Eddie’s Uncle reply. “Is Eddie there?”
“No I haven’t seen him since yesterday lunchtime-“
“Before he skipped class, I know. The principal called.”
You were silent for a moment, as you heard Mary and Jason’s muffled argument, when you heard Wayne say, “If you see him, tell him I’m not angry with him. I just want him home.”
“I will do. If he drops by, I’ll let you know.”
Wayne thanked you, before you both said goodbye. As soon as you hung up, you couldn’t help but feel worried about Eddie. You knew that you shouldn’t, especially after the way Eddie treated you. But after yesterday, hearing about his arrest, and also finding out that Chrissy was with Jason, you couldn’t help but worry for him. Without giving a second thought, you grabbed your helmet, and put it on, before leaving the house and taking your bike.
Meanwhile, Jason and Mary were still upstairs, arguing. “Why would I take Chrissy back when I want you?” Jason cried.
“Cut the bullshit, Carver,” Mary replied.
Jason slowly approached her, when Mary stormed out of her room, with a pleading Jason following her.
Mary then opened the front door, and told him, “Get out.”
An upset Jason pleaded, “Mary, please I-“
“Just go, I don’t want to hear it.”
Jason slowly nodded, before leaving. After shutting the door, Mary leaned against the door and started sobbing. Not only did Jason tell her about letting Chrissy stay, he admitted that he dobbed Reefer Rick in to the police, as well as to confessing that Chrissy kissed him. Mary didn’t know which one was worse. All she knew that she didn’t want any more to do with him.
Suddenly, Mary heard her dad call for her. She wiped her tears, before heading to his room, thinking she was needed to help you lift him to his wheelchair. But when she got there, she found out that he was alone.
Mary asked where you were, when Cain replied, “I haven’t see her since this morning.”
“What?” Suddenly, a panicking Mary ran around the house, calling your name. However, there was no response. She went back to Cain’s room, as she told him, “She’s not here.”
“Maybe she’s outside,” Cain replied.
Mary was about to go outside, when her dad stopped her, and told her, “Love, whatever is going on between you and Jason right now, I hope you both can work something out.”
If only you knew, Mary thought, before heading outside.
Meanwhile, Jason was in his car, parked opposite your house. His forehead was leaned against the steering wheel as he was crying.
Suddenly, he heard Mary call your name, which made him sit up. He wiped his tears away, before he got out and went up to her, “Mary, what’s wrong?” He asked.
Mary asked him if he had seen you.
He shook his head, when Mary noticed that your bike was missing.
The two of them went back inside, Mary checked the table for any messages. “She hasn’t left a message,” Mary said.
She then grabbed her car key, as thought about going to find you, when she remembered that she couldn’t leave Cain on his own for long and your parents wouldn’t be back until the evening. Jason suggested to her, “You stay with your dad, I’ll go and find her.”
Mary nodded, before Jason rushing out of the house. He then got into his car and drove off, thinking of where you could be.
A few moments later, you were riding around Hawkins, searching for Eddie and his van. You looked at the places he would go, starting with the Hideout. Unfortunately, Tom told you that Eddie hasn’t set a foot there. You then went to Thatcher Tires, where Eddie worked. You asked the manager if he was in, but the answer was the same. You then turned your bike and started peddling to your next location. The next place you thought of was Reefer Rick’s place. But when you got there, there was police officers coming in and out of the place. You figured that Eddie wouldn’t be that stupid to go there while the authorities were present, so you decided to go to Skull Rock. You were cycling through the woods when you suddenly heard something hiss.
You stopped and got off your bike, before you checked one of the tyres, realising that it had a puncture. “Shit,” you groaned. As you pushed your bike along, it started to rain. “Brilliant,” you sarcastically said, as you made your way to Skull Rock. Once again, you had no luck. You leaned your bike against the rock, and squatted down, hoping that the rain will stop.
A couple of hours later, a soaked Jason had returned to your place. He knocked on the door, waiting for Mary to answer. When she opened the door, she asked him, “Well?”
Jason shook his head silently, before walking back to his car when Mary suddenly told him to come in. Jason turned to face her as she told him, “Get in, before I change my mind.”
Jason stepped inside the house, as Mary helped take off his jacket and hung it up.“I’ll get you a towel,” she said, as she ran upstairs , when Jason called out to her, causing her to turn to him. He smiled up at her as he said, “Thanks.”
Mary gave him a small smile, before going to the airing cupboard and grabbed a towel for him.
Meanwhile, you were walking on the edge of the road somewhere, pushing your bike, as you were soaked through. You tried every place that Eddie could’ve gone to, but he was nowhere to be seen.
You swiped your hair away from your eyes, and looked up when you saw a familiar vehicle. You approached it, recognising the license plate. Found you, you thought as you raised your shivering hand and knocked on the back of the van door. Unsure if he was asleep or if he was actually there, you knocked again, with more force.
“Alright alright, I heard you the first-“ Eddie opened the door, letting cigarette smoke escape. He paused when he saw you shivering in front of him, unable to respond.
Suddenly, a concerned Eddie immediately grabbed your hand and pulled you inside, leaving your bike outside. He then threw his cigarette onto the road and closed the door. As you sat on the van floor, quivering, Eddie grabbed a blanket and towel from the corner and moved closer to you, as he said, while drying your hair with a towel, “Don’t worry it’s clean...kinda.” After drying your hair, he had put his hands on your shoulders, as he softly told you. “I need to take your clothes off, okay? I don’t want you to catch pneumonia.”
You slowly nodded, letting him take your clothes off, while he looked away from you, before he quickly covered you up with his blanket. He moved your clothes to one corner of the van, laying them on the towel, before he started stripping off down to his boxers. He then moved back to you, before he pulled you in, embracing you, so you could feel his body heat. You rested your chin on his shoulder, as you felt him rubbing your back. “It’s okay, sweetheart,” Eddie softly said. “You’ll be warm in no time.”
As he held you, Eddie sighed, realising how much he missed you.
A moment later, Jason was coming out of the bathroom, wearing Cain’s clothes which Mary found for him. He then went downstairs and went into the living room, catching Mary light a roll up for Cain. “Thanks for letting me borrow your clothes,” Jason told Cain.
“No problem, son,” Cain replied. As Cain took a puff, Mary informed Jason, “I’ve called everyone she knows and they’ve said that they haven’t seen her. Steve said that he and Robin are gonna help look for her.”
“Where could she have gone?” Jason asked, when Mary told him, “I think she’s gone to look for Eddie.”
“What?” A wide-eyed Jason asked.
“When I called Wayne earlier, he said that he called this afternoon, asking if Eddie was here.”
“She wouldn’t really go looking for him, would she? I mean, after what he put her through-“
Suddenly, the phone started ringing. Mary rushed to the phone and answered, while silently praying that it was you, “Hello?”
“Hello, this is Jason’s mother. Is he still there?”Jason’s mother asked with a concerned tone.
“Yes, Mrs Carver, he’s still here. I’ll pass him on to you.”
Mary passed the phone to Jason, before sitting back down next to her dad. “Hey Mom,” Jason spoke. Mary and Cain watched Jason’s face fell as his mother told him, “Patrick’s here, and...he’s in a bad way.”
“I’ll be right there,” a worried Jason replied, before he hung up.
Jason turned to Mary, as he told her, “I have to go, Patrick’s at my place. Mom said he’s in a bad way.” Jason grabbed his car key from his damp jacket, and left. Suddenly, Cain told Mary, “Go with him.”
“But Dad,” Mary began to protest. “I can’t leave-“
“I’ll be fine. Your aunt and uncle will be home soon, so don’t worry about me. Go.”
Mary hugged her father, before she ran out of the house. When she got outside, Jason was about to start the car. “Jason, wait!” She cried out.
Jason looked up at her, as Mary ran across the street and got into his car. “What are you-?” Jason began to ask.
“Dad told me to go with you,” Mary interjected.
A surprised Jason gazed at her for a moment, before starting up the car. Mary buckled up, as Jason drove off.
Meanwhile, you had dozed off in Eddie’s arms. He used one hand to adjust the blanket wrapped around you, keeping you warm, while stroking your hair with his other hand. He then gulped, before softly telling you, as he gazed at you, “I know you probably won’t hear this, but I want to say that I’m sorry, sweetheart. I thought dating Chrissy had really made my year, but all it did was cost me so much. I was angry with you and the guys, because I was too much of an ass to realise how much I’ve neglected all of you and everything.”
Eddie stroked your arms, as he continued to softly speak, “I really thought you had the guys on your side because you wanted to spite me, but now, I realise that all you did was help them out. Even though you’re not part of Hellfire, you still did your best to support them. I wish I was able to convince you to let me teach you how to play. I think you would’ve made a great permanent addition to the club. I probably won’t get that chance. Not that I deserve one anyway.”
He stroked your arm, when he noticed your damp bandage. He gently unwrapped it, revealing your stitches, before he grabbed his bandana from the pocket of his jeans and gently wrapped it around your hand. After tying a knot, Eddie held your covered hand, as he continued to speak, “As for the band, well...” Eddie quietly chuckled, before confessing, “I have to admit, you were a pretty good drummer.” He suddenly stroked your hand before he admitted, “I miss you, sweetheart.”
Suddenly, you squirmed, as you started to slowly wake up. As you opened your eyes, you looked up at Eddie, as he leg go of your hand. You groaned, as you sat up. “You...didn’t hear what I said, did you?” Eddie asked.
You didn’t answer. Instead you yawned, as you rubbed your eye, before asking, “What time is it?”
Eddie looked at his watch, as he told you the time. “You’ve been asleep for quite sometime,” he mentioned.
You were about to reach for your still damped clothes, when Eddie handed you his shirt, as he told you, “You can wear this.”
You blankly looked at him, as he sternly told you, “Unless you want to catch a cold.”
You took the shirt from him as you thanked him, when you noticed the bandana on your hand. “Your bandage was damp, so it was the only thing that I had.”
“Thanks,” you told him before you turned away from him and put the shirt on, as Eddie passed his spare work overalls to you. While you slipped them on, Eddie had put on his jeans when you noticed something fell out of his pocket. You picked it up and looked at it. It was of you and the Hellfire club. You suddenly remembered the day it was taken...
You were in the theatre room, preparing snacks and drinks for Hellfire while Eddie, who was sitting on his throne, began to whine, “Oh come on, sweetheart. Let me teach you. Don’t you get bored of just watching us play?”
You laughed as you laid out a couple of cakes, which you got from the bake sale, on the second table, before replying, “You know that I would like that Eddie, but I have other commitments, so it wouldn’t be fair on you guys if I join Hellfire and then rarely show up.” As Eddie got up and started setting up the campaign, most of Hellfire showed up. Gareth made his way to the food table to grab some snacks when you stopped him, “Sorry, those are for after,” you told him.
“Oh come on, just one slice?” Gareth begged.
“You’ll have a death wish if any ounce of frostings end up on my die,” Eddie interjected.
As everyone else sat down, Eddie asked Dustin, “Where’s Wheeler?”
Before Dustin could reply, everyone could hear Mike’s voice from outside. “Mom, I can’t look after Holly,” you heard him say. “I have a campaign to get to.”
The door opened, as Mike came in, followed by his mother, Karen, who was carrying Holly. “Why can’t Nancy do it?” he asked.
“She’s writing up an article about the bake sale,” Karen retorted. “I can’t expect her to do that, and look after your sister as well.”
“But Mom, we’re in a middle of a sadistic campaign-“
“I can look after her,” you interjected.
Mike and Karen turned to you, as you told her, “I’m not in Hellfire, so I’m not going to let them down.”
“Are you sure?” Karen asked you. You nodded, as Mike sat down, while he mouthed, “Thank you.”
As Karen had put down Holly, she suddenly got out her Polaroid camera from her handbag. “Mom, what are you doing?”
“What? I want to take a picture of all of you in your matching shirts,” Karen retorted as she lifted the camera to her face, when she told you, “And you.”
“Oh, um...,” you stammered. “I’m not-“
“I know, but I’m sure the boys won’t mind.”
You were about to say something when Eddie told you, as he got up and grabbed a spare chair, “You can sit next to me.”
As he placed it next to his throne, Karen gestured you to join in the group photo. As you went to sit down next to Eddie, Karen lifted the camera to her face, as she said, “Okay, big smiles.”
Everyone but Mike smiled, as Karen took the photo, before telling them, “Oh, just one more.”
“Mom,” Mike groaned.
“Well, someone else might want another picture.”
After Karen took more than a couple of photos, she gave a photo each to everyone, before leaving Holly with you, as she said goodbye. After you had put your photo safely in between the pages of your book in your bag, you picked up Holly, as you told the boys, “I’ll see you guys later. Save me some of that cake.” As you were leaving, Eddie replied, “Will do, sweetheart.”
He then placed his photo in front of his folder, before he started the campaign...
You quickly put the photo in the overall pocket when you noticed a bag of roll ups in the corner of the van. “Uh, Eddie?” You began to speak, making Eddie turn to you, “You were arrested for possession. Why do you have that-?”
“Oh! After Jason told me and Chrissy that he gave the cops information about Reefer Rick,” Eddie began to explain. “I immediately went to see one of his associates to get any supplies I can get hold of.”
“So that’s why the police were at his place,” you said as you looked at the roll ups, realising that there was so many of them. “That’s a lot, there must be-“ You began to speak when Eddie interjected, “Three months worth, more or less. They’re actually...for Cain.”
“What?” You asked, as you looked at him with a confused look on your face, when Eddie said, “Call it a parting gift.”
You gaped, as you stared in shock at the roll ups. “T-there all for-?” You began to ask. “Wait! What do you mean ‘parting gift?’”
“I figured that neither you or Mary wouldn’t want anymore to do with me, so...yeah. Three months of weed, plus I’ve got the number for the guy if you need more.”
You were dumbfounded. Eddie was arrested over twenty-four hours before and yet, he still risked getting arrested again, just so Cain could have his supplies. The first thing that came out of your mouth was, “No.”
A confused Eddie furrowed his brows, as he asked, “What? You don’t want it?”
“No, I mean...I don’t want it as a parting gift.”
You turned to Eddie and sat down, crossing your legs, as you told him, “Eddie, I know that you were a dick these past weeks, but that doesn’t mean that I want to cut you out of my life.”
“What? Even after the shit I put you and the guys through? I humiliated you in front of most of the school. Not to mention what I said about Mary, which by the way, I’m really sorry for that. You have every right to cut me off.”
“But would that make me feel better? If I wanted to cut you off, I wouldn’t have looked everywhere for you.”
Eddie was now dumbfounded. “You came out here, to find me?” He asked.
“Wayne was worried about you,” you began to reply. “And after Chrissy dumped you for Jason-“
“Wait! Chrissy didn’t dump me,” Eddie interjected. “It was a mutual break up.”
“What?”
“We both realised that we were better off as friends. Chrissy thought she made a mistake breaking up with him, and I was an ass for neglecting everything.”
You blinked, taking in what he said. “So, Jason took her back?” Eddie asked.
“As far as I know,” you replied. “Mary went over to his place and saw them hugging.”
“Shit.”
“Yeah...I should’ve known that Jason hadn’t completed turned over a new leaf.”
You looked down at your lap when you felt Eddie rubbed your back. You looked up at him, staring at his doe eyes when you heard the door open. You both turned to find Steve and Robin outside of the van.
“There you are,” Robin sighed with relief.
“What are you guys doing here?” You asked.
“Mary asked us where you were,” Steve began to explain. “So, Robin and I closed early to find you.”
“Shit!” You exclaimed, before turning to Eddie and told him. “I forgot to leave her a message about finding you.”
Meanwhile, Jason and Chrissy were on the couch, seeing to Patrick, who was beaten to a pulp, when Mary came in with a bowl of water and placed on the top of the coffee table. “Thanks,” Jason told her. As Jason rinsed the bloodied cloth and cleaned up remaining blood on his face, while Chrissy was wrapping a bandage around his arm. “I still think that you should go to hospital,” Jason told Patrick, who frantically shook his head.
Jason sighed, before telling him, “You might have internal injuries. We can-“
“I can’t!” Patrick sobbed. “If I go there, they’ll call my Dad, he’ll kill me...”
Patrick continued to sob, when Chrissy lightly rubbed his back, as she softly told him, “We’ll make sure that he doesn’t. We’ll call Chief Powell, and we’ll ask him to have officers with you, okay?”
Patrick gazed at her, before silently nodding at her.
“I’ll take you there,” Jason said, before asking him. “Can you stand?”
Patrick nodded, before Jason and Chrissy lifted him up and took him to the car. Mary watched them through the window, as they put Patrick in the car. Mary noticed Jason putting his hand on Chrissy’s shoulder while talking to her, before Chrissy nodded at something he said. After Jason got in his car and drove off, Chrissy went back inside.
Mary gazed at Chrissy, who grabbed the bowl of water and took it to the kitchen, while telling Mary, “Jason said that he’s going to call Powell when they get to hospital.”
By the time Chrissy came back, Mary was heading to the door when Chrissy stopped her, “You’re not leaving, are you?”
Mary turned to her, as she told her, “I can walk home. It’s not like Jason needs me now you’re here. I hope you two are happy together.”
Mary sniffled as she was about to open the door, when Chrissy told her, “We’re not back together.”
Mary stopped and turned to her, as Chrissy asked, “I take it that Jason told you what happened?”
“Yeah,” Mary replied as she crossed her arms. “He told me that you kissed him.”
“Did he tell you that he turned me down because he wanted you?”
Mary nodded, before telling her, “I didn’t believe him though. When he said he was letting you stay, I thought it was because he was still in love with you.”
“You thought wrong,” Chrissy raised her voice. “He let me and my brother stay, because when he took me home, my mother threatened to lock me up. When he saw what she was really like, he helped us pack and leave.”
Mary gaped, as Chrissy began to sniffle, “My mother, she...She had always force me to have a perfect figure and image, and she would get mad if I objected anything she told me to do. And the worse part is...my dad didn’t do anything to stop it. He just...stayed silent.”
“I’m sorry, I had no idea,” Mary apologised while sympathetically looked at Chrissy, as she handed her a tissue. She then sighed before confessing, “I know that you may not think I don’t know what it’s like to have someone like that as a mother, but...I do.”

Okay, first of all: This isn't a bad book. I want to preface my review with that, even if 'bad' is a nebulous term. I want to make it clear that at this point, I'm absolving Ali Hazelwood of her sins with Love Hypothesis. While I hated Adam, I loved Jack from Love Theoretically, and I do like Sawyer… to a degree. I think her heroes have evolved slightly since Adam, and now they're kind of at a very acceptable Jack-Sawyer stage.
I'll elaborate on the hero part in a bit. But for now, I also want to make it clear that while I don't love this book anywhere as much as I loved Love Theoretically, I can see a lot of people loving this, and I understand. It really all boils down to personal preference. (Though that… pretty much sums up any kind of book review, so you can ignore this statement, really. But I guess what I'm trying to say is: Love Hypothesis pissed me the fuck off. Its issues were egregious to me. Chess & Mate got on my nerves a bit, but I recognise it was just due to my own weird preferences as a reader.)
Anyway. Spoilers ahead.
Things I liked:
Sawyer. He's very similar to Jack and if that's the kind of hero Ali likes, I ain't complaining. He knows what he wants; he's mostly straightforward with his feelings and is unabashed about them. Neither is he growly or saying "babe" and all that cringe stuff. He's just… calm, same as Jack. It's very attractive. And ALSO. He is a virgin. I so, so love that? Too bad this was YA so the sex scenes were closed-door, because I felt that would have been a fun dynamic to explore in an adult book.
I like that for once, Mallory (the heroine) is the one who sleeps around. It's all very sex-positive and I support that immensely. Also her being bi? I 100% am for it.
I really liked Oz, for most of the book. And Dfne? I think that's how you spell her name. [But I may be wrong and I'm too lazy to check.]
I think all the loose ends were tied up rather conclusively, re: Eaton and Mallory's family.
Now…. The things I did not like. Hoo-boy.
I'm not into the Mary Sue scene. This is my biggest, biggest gripe for this book. Mallory being this good was not to my liking. She was just winning match after match even though she hadn't played in years. She felt unbeatable, and it took a lot of narrative tension out of the story for me. At some point, I was just like: Okay, I get it. You're the best. And Sawyer is also the best. You are both the best, and you two can sit above the plebs in your couple-y thrones. Reading this book felt like I was reading a power fantasy between two people, and while I get that being everyone's cup of tea, it wasn't mine. At some point, it felt like Sawyer was only ever interested in her because she could play as well as (or better than) he did.
I wished Sawyer hadn't been interested in her from the start. It would have been fun to really lean into the 'enemies' angle for a bit and have her slowly climb her way up to face off against him later. But then again, that's asking for a major rewrite, and that's a whole can of worms I'd rather not open.
But speaking of interest, I was conflicted on the insta-love on Sawyer's part. Him showing up at her house early on in the book and eating dinner with her family was really abrupt and it took me aback. They went from almost no interaction save for her beating him at the first match and the encounter at the pool to… this? Or maybe there were more encounters that I can't recall off the top of my head now, but it just felt too soon for me.
Oh gosh. Her family. Her mom was fine, but her sisters, especially Sabrina? I was being driven nuts. When Sabrina called Mallory egotistical, I was like: wtf? Mallory was practically slaving her ass off to support her family and she made so many sacrifices for them. I get that that was the point—Mallory was clinging to martyrdom and refusing to let herself need them and it upset them. But being antagonistic to Mallory was NOT the answer. Her martyrdom stemmed from a place of self-loathing and trauma. I hated how everyone at the end of the book was yelling at Mallory to get her head out of her ass. Maybe this wake-up call works in books/fiction, or maybe it works for some people, but it's not ideal. It's callous and cruel. I approved only of how Mallory's mother handled it: she very calmly talked things out with her.
Mallory had EVERY right to be angry with Sawyer. I hated how everyone, including Eaton, fed this narrative that Mallory was completely in the wrong for her blow-up at him and how everything he did was right for her. If a man I was developing a romantic relationship with was paying for my fellowship/my fucking SALARY all along and omitted telling me (don't give me the bullshit about "you could have just asked"—omission is still lying), I would be furious. This is crucial information that should have been voluntarily shared sooner. Even if he came from a good place, it doesn't make it okay to hide this imbalance of power from me.
I also want to say that the bad guys are cartoonishly bad. Like you know right away who the 'villain' of the book was going to be, and it felt rather juvenile how unapologetically dickish he was. There wasn't a lot of nuance to it, but eh. Whatever.
The PDA between Sawyer and Mallory (her sitting between his thighs and him… biting her earlobe? I… Okay) while they played chess with his friends was… not for me. I had the same complaint with a hauntingly similar scene in Love Theoretically. I get it: this type of thing is just not my cuppa, but Ali loves it.
All in all, while it sounds like I'm complaining a lot, I don't hate this book. I just don't really love it. Or… like it very, very much. But it had its cute moments, so it's, well, not that bad? I think?

what happens after they get four back?
The Squad gets Four back during the final battle with Mr. Grizz!! Along the way while fighting him, Shrimp (the Smallfry partner of this au c:) eats enough Golden Eggs to power up and cleanse Agent 4, who helps get rid of the Fuzzballs alongside Ross (Agent 3 in the au/my Splatsona) in the actual final level.
After the world is saved, Agent 4, ashamed, apologizes to Callie, Marie, Captain, Cuttlefish, and Ross. They all forgive her, but she still has to answer for all the awful stuff she did. So, he's tasked to be part of a cleanup crew, lead by Ross and Shrimp, to get rid of the last of the Fuzzy Ooze in Splatsville! Alis afterwards does have to keep up a steady diet of power eggs to help fight off any remaining traces of Fuzz inside of her as well.
Four enjoys having her freedom back and starts to smile a lot again (though a little less than usual) and hangs out a lot with the Squid Sisters, but also thinks Deep Cut is neat as well. Things with her and Cuttlefish are a little strained still, but definitely better than before. They're working on repairing their prior friendship together c:

Diner Girl
"So, we finally get to meet your girlfriend, in person?" Tim questioned.
"I'm already regretting this decision." Damian declared.
Jason chuckled, "Why? You think she'll like us more?"
"More like drive her away." Damian snarled.
"Relax, Little D." Dick smiled, "We won't do anything of the sort. Besides, it's been three years."
Damian sighed as they pulled up to the diner. Marinette had stated she was busy working until 5pm. The Wayne boys couldn't wait to meet her and asked if they could meet her at her work for a quick bite. They even said they could head out from there and take her home. He knew his brothers would try to convince her to change and go out instead.
Marinette heard the ding of the door opening and turned to see her boyfriend and his family. She smiled and looked at the clock.
'Thirty more minutes until I get off the clock. Maybe they'd like some appetizers.'
The Waynes sat down and saw Marinette subtly wave at them.
"My God, did you see her?"
"It suits her."
"I'm shocked she hasn't dropped anything yet."
Tim quickly took out his phone. He made sure to look interested at it, as he noticed the people in the booth behind them point at Marinette. He made sure his phone was still focused on them as his little brother's girlfriend approached the table.
"Sorry, for the wait." Mari spoke, "What can I get you to drink?"
"Hey, Pixie. Can I get a strawberry milkshake?" Jason questioned.
"Pixie?" she repeated.
"Because you're tiny and cute." he smiled.
His answered earned him a quick kick to the shin by Damian.
"Ow! You brat!" Jason yelled.
Damian flipped him off.
"Ignore them." Dick commented, "I'll take a limoncello float."
"Black coffee." declared Tim.
"Damian?" Marinette questioned, "Chai tea?"
"Yes." he answered.
Marinette smiled and walked away from their table.
"Oh, so she knows you favorites now?" Jason teased.
"Shut up." Damian growled.
"The butter knives aren't sharp enough and you know it." Tim sighed, noticing the girls in the next booth glaring at them.
Tim continued to appear interested in his phone.
'This isn't going to end well.'
Lila smirked as she tipped over her drink and it clattered to the floor.
"Oops." she spoke.
Alya snickered as the drink covered the floor.
"Clean it up, Lila." Adrien declared, "Now."
"Why would I do that, Adrien?" Lila questioned, "I don't work here."
"Well, if that is how you think, I can say you won't have a job anywhere." he replied.
Alya, Nino, and Lila looked at him shocked.
"You can't do that!" Alya shouted.
Adrien smiled and leaned back, "It's my father's company. Father expects perfection everywhere; especially in public."
"But my wrist hurts!" Lila whined, "It's why I spilled it. It was an accident."
He sighed, "We both know you're full of shit."
"Adrien!" Alya gasped.
"You are only special in your own head and it shows." he declared.
"Dude!" Nino cried out, surprised.
Marinette walked towards the table behind them and slipped on the scattered ice. Damian quickly grabbed her, preventing an accident, but the drinks still fell to the floor.
"Marinette!" the manager shouted.
"It-it wasn't my fault!" she stammered.
"You're fired!" he roared.
"But-" Marinette tried to refute.
"It's fine, Habibiti." Damian spoke.
"Yeah." Jason replied, "We'll leave."
The manager glared at her, "See! Now, you are making the patrons leave."
"The only reason we came here was to see Marinette." Dick annouced.
"Besides, " Tim spoke, "maybe you should hire Sausage Hair, there. Seems she'll be out of a job soon."
"Were you spying on us?" Alya shrieked.
"Recorded your conversations, too." Tim commented, "Planning to trip her? Classic."
"You're just jealous that Pixie Pop is better than you." Jason replied.
Lila stood up, in outrage, "I'm the daughter of an ambassador! I am a model for Gabriel Agreste! I travel the world and help with various charities! I know Prince Ali of Achu and Jagged Stone. I help Prince Ali in his environmental charities and I'm Jagged Stone's niece!"
The Waynes laughed. The manager noticed Marinette covering her mouth, but she was laughing, none the less.
'What is going on?'
"One: Prince Ali works in children's hospitals, not environmental projects." Dick stated, "He donates to our charities, all the time."
"Two: Marinette knows Jagged Stone. She is his 'niece', as well as his personal designer." Tim declared, "She doesn't even need this job, but she thought it would get her out of having kids thrown her way for unpaid babysitting gigs, at the last moment."
"Three: You are a waste of space from what Blondie was saying." Jason scoffed.
Damian smirked, "Go ahead. Tell her who we are Agreste. You've spoken to us before."
Adrien relaxed and smiled, "You're the Waynes. Your father is an international billionare."
Lila and the manager's faces drained of color.
Damian turned his glare to the manager, "Four: The only reason we were in your pathetic place was because of the angel in my arms."
"What's so special about her, anyways?" Alya snapped.
"She's my girlfriend." Damian announced.
The Waynes smiled behind him. Lila tensed up and looked between Marinette and the Wayne. Adrien just smiled and the manager sensed he had made a huge mistake.
"Come along, Angel." Damian spoke, "We'll take you home and we'll treat you to dinner."
"I have five restaurants ready to take our reservation in three hours." Tim declared.
Dick smiled, "We can settle it in the car."
"Sorry, I was such a bother, Damian." Marinette whispered.
Damian leaned down and placed a kiss on her lips, "You are never a bother to me. Though, you also have to thank Agreste there. He was trying to get the bitch to clean up the mess she made, before you came over."
Marinette smiled, "Thanks, Adrien."
"Oh, you're welcome, Mari." Adrien replied,, "Sorry, you ended up falling and getting fired."
Marinette just shrugged it off, "Like Tim said, I don't need this job. I just tired of Alya and Nino dumping their siblings at me for free babysitting gigs. I mostly took this out of spite. I'll be moving out of my parents' place this year; I didn't want to deal with packing and trying to take care of kids for some people who hate me."
"Come on, Pixie Pop!" Jason shouted, "Let's blow this popsicle stand!"
Dick smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder, "We can drop you off and we can go change in our suits that you made us."
Marinette smiled brighter, "They fit, right? Nothing needs to be adjusted?"
"Are you kidding me?" Jason asked, leading the way out the door, "Like a glove! Best monkey suit I've worn!" making her giggle.
"Do we need to stop anywhere to get you dressed up?" Tim asked.
Mari scoffed, "You think I wouldn't have dressy clothes? I have to travel with Jagged to his functions."
"Rock and Roll!" Jason smiled.
Damian kept his arm snug around Marinette's waist as they left the diner with a smile.
"Move, Lila." Adrien demanded.
"Huh?" she spoke, confused by the hostility coming out of his mouth.
"I need to leave." he declared
"But-" Nino spoke.
Adrien pointed to the door as Natalie walked in. She quickly spotted the blonde's coiffed hair and walked towards them.
"Adrien, those were-" she bean.
"The people Lila just humiliated herself in front of and they recorded the whole thing?" Adrien stated, throwing her fully under the bus.
Natalie glared at her as she quickly moved, allowing Adrine out of the booth. Adrien walked around the mess and spotted one of the dishtowels that Mari had dropped onto the floor. He picked it up and threw it right in Lila's face. She sputtered as she removed the soaked towel from her face. It was painfully obvious by the two toned skin color that most of her makeup was wiped off on the wet towel.
Adrien smiled, "You might want to get use to your new job."
"They know Marinette Dupain-Cheng?" Natalie questioned.
"Marinette is dating the youngest Wayne. Unless, Mari puts him in a good mood, Lila is likely to-" Adrien declared as his phone went off rapidly.
He pulled his phone out as Natalie looked towards her tablet.
"Oh, never mind. Timothy Drake-Wayne blasted Lila on twitter. The co-CEO of Wayne Enterprise just showed the world how two-faced Father's model really is." Adiren overdramatically sighed, "He posted the whole video of Lila pretending to be injured and purposefully making Marinette slip. He also posted Marinette getting horribly fired and all of the Waynes calling Lila a huge liar to her face. That's really not a good look for Gabriel."
Natalie tightened her grip on the tablet, "I'll call your father to see how he wants to deal with this new situation, seeing as we were suppose to meet the Waynes tomorrow."
Adrien smiled, "I'm pretty sure that the girl Lila got fired is the Waynes' personal designer."
Lila gulped and slowly sat back in the booth.
"If that is the case, I agree with Adrien, Miss Rossi; I would start looking for a new job." Natalie commanded.
Adrien walked out of the diner with Natalie in tow. Lila sat there frozen until Alya reached out and touched her hand.
"It's gonna be okay, Lila." Alya smiled, "It's-"
Lila tore her arm away from the journalist grasp and glared at her. She got up quickly and tried to rush out the door. In her hurry, she had forgotten about the spill and slipped. Lila fell forward but landed awkwardly, attempting to catch herself. She was rushed to the hospital with a broken arm.
As Nino drove Alya home, she sniffled as she looked through her phone. Her blog was being torn to shreds by people around the world. They were pointing out every lie and detail on how everything Lila said was fake. The comment that hurt the most was: I can't believe this blogger wants to be a reporter! Doesn't this girl know the basics for a reporter? It's called fact checking! Google isn't that hard to use!

mw fcs in general?
hello,  anon  !!  and  i'm  so  sorry  it  took  us  so  long  to  answer  this  question  but  it  was  so  hard  for  us  to  narrow  it  down  to  only  a  handful  of  fcs  and  ultimately,  we...  failed. 😔 jokes  aside,  it  really  was  a  struggle  to  cut  down  our  list  to  a  "relatively"  "reasonable"  number  because  there  are  so  many  fcs  that  we  could  see  working  for  our  open  skeletons  and  we  really  don't  want  to  limit  anyone's  creativity. we  hope  this  non-comprehensive  list  of  fcs  we  would  love  to  see  in  our  game  is  of  help  when  coming  up  with  your  character !

Miraculous Ladybug and the Valiant Annuler     By: Haphira
34. Called Out and Caught Up - News crew does their business good, and Alya feels remorse and does her research
“Heads up!” Hachi shouted.
The Akuma flew by as Ladybug ran after it, dodging chimney tops and ledges. The team moved in place surrounding the Akuma, as Ladybug called her Lucky Charm, a rope. Seems straight forward, the Heroes danced around the Akuma, calling out to them confusing them and giving Ladybug the opportunity to sneak up and tie up the Akuma.
Overall, the battle only took 10 minutes, which Ladybug was pretty sure was a new record. Ladybug raised her fist out as the others joined her in a celebratory group fist bump.
“A word, Ladybug?” A voice called out; the group turned to see a news crew running to them.
“Just a moment, Ladybug, this has been the fastest Akuma battle to date, care to- Oh.”
The news anchor stopped short when she saw the group of new heroes and no Chat Noir. She recovered quickly.
“I assume this new team of yours is the reason for how quickly the Akuma battle ended?” Ladybug squared her shoulders and stepped closer to the news reporter to answer.
“Yes, this is my team: Sionnach, Hachisasare, and Dìonadair. Expect to see them more often, if that’s all, Bug Out!” Ladybug threw her yoyo to leave, and her teammates followed suit in different directions. Ladybug landed nearby to listen to the news crew a moment without being spotted.
“Did you get their names down?!” A murmured confirmation was heard before the reporter squealed.
“Oh, this is great! New team members AND their names?! Ladybug was very generous today, let’s make sure we get this right.” Ladybug was curious, would they do a good job or turn this into another Tabloid piece?
“What about ‘Chat replaced, 3 new heroes!’” one commented. Ladybug froze and dread filled her stomach.
“NO. Not doing that Jake, get your head out of your ass. We are not doing a slam/tabloid piece on Ladybug. She deserves better than that.” Ladybug smiled. This reporter was a good one. In a flash of light, Marinette stood, in place of Ladybug. Digging around in her purse for a treat for Tikki, Marinette listened once more.
“-present the new heroes as the help Ladybug wanted and got. It’s time we support Ladybug as a person, not just an idol.”
Marinette almost cried at hearing that. Finally, people were starting to take her seriously. Nodding at Tikki, Marinette transformed once more and jumped on the roof tops to home. She would give this small news station a chance, and maybe endorse it too... speaking of which, Marinette frowned as she passed by Alya’s window, the girl looked hard at work on her computer. Marinette still needed to have a few words with her concerning the ‘Lila at the boat’ thing.
Humming to herself, Ladybug lands on her rooftop and releases her transformation. The spring day was wonderfully warm, and Marinette knew it would be a good time to sketch for a while then address Alya in the late afternoon. She set an alarm for 4pm and got the things she needed for a designing afternoon.
Marinette set herself up on the balcony chair and thought about a certain blue hair guitarist that she drew inspiration from, prompting three pages full of designs; from clothes to hats and jewelry, Marinette was on a roll.  After what seemed to be no time at all, Marinette’s alarm went off.
The beeping noise drew Marinette out of her headspace and back to the present. After putting everything away, Marinette messaged Alya.
Mari: Do you have time to talk?
Alys: What’s this about?
Mari: What happened at the boat on Friday
Marinette bit her lip as she watched the bubble pop up with the dots moving, showing that Alya was typing. This went on for a few minutes before a message finally delivered.
Alys: Yeah, meet me at the park in 20
Marinette closed the app and tossed her phone into her purse and motioned Tikki inside. She walked down the stair to the living apartment space where her Maman was relaxing.
“Oh, hello, sweetie. What are you up to?” Sabine asked.
“I’m going to the park to meet up with Alya.” Marinette must have let some emotion slip because Sabine furrowed her eyebrows in concern.
“Everything alright?”
Marinette debated for a moment, but her parents were trying to be better, opening up to them would probably help.
“Not exactly, but it will be once we talk.”
Sabine softened, “Okay, if you need any help or advice I’m always here.”
Marinette smiled and waved her mother goodbye as she strolled out the door. When she reached the park she saw Alya already there, waiting at their usual bench.
Alya glanced up when Marinette drew nearer, the expression on her face was one of regret and guilt. So, this might be a decent conversation.
Marinette sat down next to the ombre haired girl but left a foot of space between them, Alya glanced at the space but made no comment. The silence stretched between them but Marinette spoke up.
“You brought Lila to the boat, when I had specifically asked that you not do that.” Marinette was proud of how she controlled her voice. No wavering, no outright anger, just stating a fact.
Alya bit her lip and nodded. “That was a shitty thing for me to do.” She acknowledged. Surprise filled Marinette's face.
“I thought that... well I wasn’t thinking, which is the problem.” Alya sighed. “I’ve been a shit friend to you,” she continued, rubbing the back of her hand holding her phone. “You set boundaries and I ignored them, and with the way things played out at the boat, you were right to.”
Alya glanced at Marinette then looked back down at the phone in her hands. Marinette wasn’t sure what to make of this new side to Alya, she was nervous to try and trust the reporter again.
“I’m sorry, I should have never invited Lila to the houseboat.” Alya apologized.
“You also owe apologies to Luka and Juleka,” Marinette commented softly, Alya froze then hunched into herself. “But, thank you for apologizing.” Alya nodded and straightened up.
“It seems that I have work to do,” she paused and turned to face Marinette, “Can we talk again soon?” Marinette nodded, knowing there was going to be more to talk about and deal with when it came to Lila, but this was a good step in the right direction.
Alya stood up and walked back to her home. Her sisters were out with Nora so she had time to do some research. Sitting at her computer Alya got to work.
An hour later, Alya stared at the screen, willing her eyes to see something that wasn’t there. She finally looked up Lila’s “adventures”. The only thing to pop up in support of Lila’s claims was the Ladyblog. Nothing with Prince Ali, nothing with charity events, no drives events or stories on news about Jagged, well only that Jagged was allergic to organic flour and the only pet he had ever had was Fang.
Alya slumped in her chair, Lila was a liar. She had pushed Marinette away for some pretty stories and believed it was all due to some jealousy. Alya sighed and rubbed her forehead, she glanced at the blue folder Nino had given her; evidence of Lila’s lies, all compiled by Marinette.
Oh god, Nino, she had yelled at him the last time they talked. Alya knew she had a lot of making-up to do. To both Nino and Marinette, but first she needed to make a video for her blog. A big, “I messed up and didn’t do my research, I'm going to be better and make it up to you” kind of thing. And a lot of apologies to make, but those would have to wait until she could do them in person.
Alya set up her camera and jumped right in, “Hey, Ladybug fans! I’ve got an important announcement to make…”

Below the cut is a description of the night, the party, and basically how it all played out. There are spoilers, as well as a link to the full solution/scenario I used for the inspo of Haven's party, so please read with caution. (There will be a note at the beginning of the paragraph that starts to reveal the answers.)
Note: The characters tagged in this post were not the only people invited to the party. These are just simply the characters of the people that reacted to my post on the discord, which is what I based this summary off of. If you are not someone tagged below and you wanted your character to be there, we'll say they were one of the non-role-playing detectives as listed on the instruction sheet that I used.
Tumblr media
In true Haven fashion, the guests arrived at Haven’s house close to 6PM - with the exception of the few that came early to help set up - and where probably not surprised to see the decorations that filled her house. Sure, she could blame the fact that she had an eleven year old at home who was just as obsessed with spooky things as his mother, but, in all honesty most of this was for her party guests. Decorations filled the kitchen and living room mostly, but she’d tried hard not to take away from the snacks and drinks - especially the margarita bar she had placed strategically in the kitchen. It was a lot of work,  but Haven enjoyed this type of thing.
[This is where I start talking about the party so if you don’t want things spoiled for you, please don’t read ahead.]
ROUND ONE
As the guests began to arrive and Haven had given them the opportunity to enjoy some treats, she handed out name tags to each guest - all which were selected at random - and instructed they’d be on teams seeing as how there were only 6 suspects and more than that attending her party. Along with the name tags, guests were handed character dossier’s - which they were instructed to remain closed until further told to read -  as well as some business cards with the character’s description on them. The groups went as followed:
Penelope Ruiz, Orion Blakely, and Ann-Marie Siegert were working together as Dr. Chelsea Barren; the neighbor. @nelxruiz @orionxblakely @ann-marieseigert
Genevieve Hernandez, Stevie Wagner and Apollo Williams were working together as Kathryn Lawless; the friend. @genhernandez @steviexwagner @counselorapollo
Summer Cassidy, River Jackson, and Ali Webster were working together as Enrique Graves; The Farmhand. @summercassidy @riverxjackson @alitwebster
Beyza Senkan and Aindreis Blythe were working together as Michael Nightshade; the land developer. @beyzaxsenkan @aindreisblythe
Julian Heywood, Brady Levitt, and Amerie Chen were working together as Norman D’Adly; the brother in law. @julianxheywood @ameriechen @bradylevitt
And the last group to be assembled was Amayah Fontenelle and Nora Sinclair who were working together as Vicki D’Adly; the sister. @amayahxfontenelle @norasinclair
Once all groups were formed, groups were instructed to flip to their character dossiers (pages 29, 36, 43, 50, 57 & 64) and read only the scenario and who you are sections aloud. You all took turns doing so, starting with Chelsea and ending with Vicki. It is revealed with Michael’s info that a map has been sketched out, and now everyone knows the general layout of the property. To complete Round One, Haven read the scenario aloud, before giving further instructions. “One year ago, Robert Killingsworth bought the farm. Six months later, he was dead - leaving his widow Elizabeth to tend to their fledgling vineyard and winery on the outskirts of California’s wine country. With mounting debts and no idea how to run a  business, Elizabeth is desperate to sell the farm and recoup her losses. The fierce drought and shaky economy, however, have left Killingsworth Farm on the market for far too long. One early autumn day, six people passed through the gates of Killingsworth Farm to see Elizabeth.. One of them, a cold-blooded Killer.”
Round Two
Once the pages were turned, you all were instructed to read the section titled “The Scenario” aloud, in the same order as before. It is at this time that guests were allowed to begin questioning each other, and Haven suggested that you all take notes so that you could help yourselves figure out who committed the crime. It was revealed when Norman announced they had gone into the bedroom in search of Elizabeth, they found a shrine of Elizabeth’s late husband, and one article caught their attention, revealing the newspaper article that revealed the cash reward which rose the question: who would need enough money to find out the answer, or come forward? Some questions were asked, while everyone made notes and Enrique’s team was challenged by Chelsea’s team when it was revealed that she’d seen him there a lot but he wasn’t checking anything out. Enrique’s team revealed that they were getting Kathryn’s help with homework, and that’s why they were there so much recently.
Round Three
Haven instructed you all to turn the page and begin reading “The Scenario” aloud, just as before. Questions continue to arise after all things have been read. Michael’s team asked Enrique’s team who the woman was that joined him in the cellar, but it is later understood that it is Chelsea, and that the two were sleeping together. Though, that doesn’t stop Chelsea’s team from noticing that Enrique’s team helped the D’Adly’s with their luggage and noticed the boxes, causing Vicki to reveal that they are staying in their RV and sold their house because of Norman’s debts. It is not revealed that Enrique has a hand written note from Kathryn by a Samuel Friedmont.
Round Four
Now onto the fourth round of the game, Haven instructs that you follow the same instructions as before, and to really start to pay attention to what is being told because you are that much closer to finding the answer to the murder. It is revealed during this round that Chelsea saw Vicki head to the wine vault, Enrique was heading to the wine vault with Michael at 5:30PM, Kathryn found a note next to Elizabeth’s body, and Michael revealed he was drinking with Elizabeth when the lights went out in the wine vault. Finally, Norman overheard Michael call Kathryn ‘Aunt Kathryn’ and saw them together in the car, which had Norman’s team questioning it, where he revealed that Kathryn told him to hold onto sleeping pills, and revealed that if Elizabeth wouldn’t sell him the farm, he was to use it. Vicki was caught guard a little when her conversation with Kathryn resulted in a sly grin, and Kathryn’s team had to reveal that she had quit her job at the library that day to pursue Hollywood.
Round Five
With the guests in full sleuth mode, things keep progressing quickly. It is revealed in this round that Chelsea’s team had showed the paper that Enrique lost to Elizabeth. Enrique’s team revealed that the day that Robert was killed, Chelsea had had lunch with him and begged him to see her the next day; Robert used the term ‘over my dead body’ would she be allowed on his property again. Kathryn notices that one of the candlesticks in Elizabeth’s study is identical to one that Enrique gifted her months ago. Michael revealed that the handwriting on the bottom of the Samuel Friedmont note from the library is the same as the handwriting on Elizabeth’s suicide note. Norman reveals that he heard Elizabeth and Dr. Chelsea arguing earlier in the day about Robert’s killer, but Elizabeth wanted no part of it, and lastly, Vicki reveals that she saw the empty bottle of sleeping pills next to a corkscrew with the engraving To Elizabeth, I will always love you. Cheers to a new life together.” Questions begin flying as the teams began to figure out who did it, as more and more things are revealed. Once ready, the group opened up to pages 34-69 of their character dossier’s to reveal the answer to the murder.
Round Six (The Conclusion)
The code words were assigned to each group and one person from each group read allowed the confession statements in order: Kathryn (Mystery), Michael (Mayhem), Chelsea (Murder), Enrique (Malice), Vicki (Mastermind), Norman (Madness).
Kathryn started off by stating that she was innocent, and that only people that had been in the Rose Garden that afternoon could have access to the murder weapon (a corkscrew which was gifted to Elizabeth by Norman.
Michael confessed that he was in the Rose Garden, but that he did not pick up the corkscrew, and that his mind was elsewhere because his aunt Kathryn wasn’t the best friend to Elizabeth that she made everyone believe. He stated that Kathryn was trying to inherit the farm through Elizabeth’s death, and that he was no part of the picture anymore; though he did try to kill her, but someone else got to her first.
Chelsea revealed that she’d been sleeping with Enrique for inside information on Robert’s killer as the two of them (Chelsea and Robert) were having an affair. She struck gold to who really killed Robert - she thought it had been Elizabeth for the life insurance all along - but Elizabeth was having no part of figuring out who it was.
Enrique revealed that he was the one that killed Robert with a candlestick blow to the head when he tried to have Enrique arrested after his past with drugs came back to surface. He was unconscious at the time of Elizabeth’s death and said ‘his word’ says he wasn’t the one that killed her. The group didn’t hesitate to give him side eyes though (they still aren’t convinced that he’s telling the truth)
Vicki revealed that she had the motive to kill her sister as she was trying to get money to move to Hollywood, and she was tired of being married; she also mentioned that her husband Norman wanted to be part of Elizabeth’s life again. She says she didn’t do it though, that she realized it would be easier to divorce Norman first, and that she’s certain Chelsea was spying on her and can vouch that she is innocent.
Norman revealed that he saw Enrique and Vicki kissing from the Rose Garden and was so enraged he acted on it; so he flipped on the electricity, shocking Enrique and causing the lights to go out. Because of this, when he picked up the corkscrew moments prior, he used it as the murder weapon, only to realize when everyone was gathered in the Farmhouse that his eyes had deceived him, and that when he thought he had killed his wife in rage, he’d actually killed Elizabeth, his wife’s sister and the only woman he’s ever loved. I guess practically marrying wife’s twin doesn’t pay off after all, does it Norman?
With the reveal, which had been mentioned as the potential outcome by Enrique’s team, the party ended with drinks, snacks and talking. It was overall a great night, and Haven’s already talking about how she can host an even better party next year.
Teams, who ‘figured out the answer’ and anything that required a selection was done so via random wheel. I did not personally select anything myself.

BIOGRAPHY
EARLY BEGINNINGS
Alice was born on October 30, 1993 in Meteora, Greece via C-section. While she greeted the world, she left her fraternal twin brother, Atticus, behind. Alice and Atticus do not share the same father and therefore are twins due to heteropaternal superfecundation
Alice's father met her mother while on a business trip in Greece. They had a brief yet torrid love affair and afterwards, her father went back to Chicago, planning to never look back. However, when he found out that he had a daughter on the other side of the world, he couldn't leave her behind. Shortly after Alice was born, her father flew back to Greece and collected his daughter. Growing up, Alice had no idea about her origins
Alice's father, David, didn't know quite what to say when he brought a little girl home to his wife. Needless to say, she was furious and swiftly filed for divorce, leaving David to be a single father to young Alice. While Alice was growing up, David tried to be there for his daughter, despite his busy work schedule
Growing up, Alice was very close to her father, even though he had to go away for work a lot. Being a hotshot lawyer, David had plenty of money to supply Alice with nannies and practically anything she could ask for, though she didn't really care about any of that. Her favorite thing was getting to spend time with her father. However, she always felt the aching absence of a mother figure and David never really had a good answer when Alice inquired about her mother. Her father just felt like it was too complicated a situation to explain to a young child
As a young girl, Alice got involved with figure skating and at the very beginning, she'd wanted to be a professional figure skater. While her love of writing overtook that dream, she never stopped skating, as she always loved the feeling it gave her
While Alice was relatively well-behaved throughout her childhood, she developed a rebellious streak in high school and began to act out. She would sneak out, go to parties, and get drunk. David was at a loss of what to do for his daughter. He tried disciplining her but that only pushed her away. Alice felt like she deserved a little freedom and it was all just good fun--at least, that was until she met Tristan
Tristan was a few years older than Alice and was your classic misunderstood bad boy--though when they met, Alice didn't realize how bad he truly was. What started out as a whirlwind romance quickly spiraled into a cycle of abuse. Even worse, Tristan introduced Alice to heroin and she was instantly hooked. Alice, who desperately wanted to feel loved and cared for, quickly fell into this cycle and once she was in, she had no idea how she was going to get out
Alice, a 17 year old who had once been a straight-A student, was now regularly skipping school to meet up with Tristan and get high. Her grades quickly plummeted and it wasn't long before her father figured out what was really going on. After a huge fight with her father, Alice sought solace in a needle Tristan. In a desperate attempt to numb everything out, Alice accidentally overdosed on heroin and when Tristan realized what was happening, he bailed, leaving her for dead. It was only thanks to her father finding her in the nick of time that she was able to be saved
THE BREAKING POINT
What no one realized at the time was that Alice had been suffering from hallucinations for over a year at that point. The first time she experienced the hallucinations, she thought she'd been drugged. But she quickly discovered that she was having at first auditory, and then visual hallucinations, even when she was stone-cold sober. Being a teenager, she felt like if she told anyone, they'd think she was crazy so she kept it to herself. Sickeningly, it seemed that heroin was the only thing that gave her relief from her hallucinations, which only further fueled her addiction
When Alice came to in the hospital after her overdose, she was met with a look of frightened relief from her father. David was at his wits end and didn't know how else to help his daughter. He informed Alice that she would be going to a treatment center to get the help that she needed. Though Alice went kicking and screaming, quite literally, it didn't change her reality--she was stuck in that hospital for what felt like forever
Alice certainly wasn't cooperative at first. In fact, she spent about a year-and-a-half treating her treatment plan like a joke. She would sneak around, find the liquor that the staff had stashed for themselves, and get wasted. Unable to get her hands on any drugs, she settled for alcohol instead. While alcohol hadn't been a huge problem for her before, it now became her crutch. While in treatment, she was diagnosed with severe depression and she found out that the hallucinations had stemmed from a bout of psychotic depression which occurred due to lack of treatment. Even with this information, Alice was perfectly fine with rotting away in the facility for the rest of her life, too lost in her self-loathing to better herself. It wasn't until Alec showed up that everything changed
For better or worse, the prospect of love is what motivated Alice to really work on her recovery. Alec, who had once been one of Tristan's old friends, showed up one day out of the blue--and as a patient nonetheless. Even though he'd hung out with Tristan back then, Alec wasn't anything like Alice's abusive ex-boyfriend. Alec was kind and sweet, if not a little lost, and their romance quickly blossomed. After another year spent actually working towards her recovery, Alice was finally released from the hospital and things moved quickly with Alec
A FALSE START
After getting out of the hospital at 20, Alice was ready for a fresh start. Sober and feeling happier than ever, she enrolled in college where she studied journalism, as she'd always wanted to be a writer. She and Alec moved into together almost immediately and everything was bliss
During her second year of college, Alice was reunited with her long-lost brothers, Atticus and Cyrek. After spending her entire life as a lonely only child, she suddenly had a twin brother and an older brother to bond with. At first, she was unable to forgive her father for lying to her for so long. She'd asked so many times about her mother and where she was and all he'd done was lie. She didn't speak to her father for about 6 months but eventually, they reconciled. After all, she couldn't deny that David was the one person that had been there for her as a child. Sure, he hadn't always had the right answers or known what to do but he had stayed and that's what mattered to her the most
While Alice's life was seemingly cheerful on the outside, inside, she was struggling with her recovery and she relapsed a couple times. Still, even with a few bumps in the road, she never gave up. Through each relapse, her loved ones were always there for her, especially Alec--which is why it was so devastating to discover that Alec had been dealing drugs behind her back to make ends meet. One evening, Alice had found a massive load of pills stashed inside the toilet tank and she almost lost it. Oddly enough, a huge blowout argument resulted in Alec asking Alice to marry him. In hindsight, it was clearly doomed from the start but Alice was so happy at the prospect of having someone to love her for the rest of her life, she was willing to look past this mistake
After a long engagement, as well as some trials and tribulations, Alice graduated college with her Bachelor Degree in Journalism and got married to Alec. It was a beautiful wedding day that was filled with all of her loved ones. It was the start of something so promising--Alice couldn't wait to build a family with Alec and grow old together. But unfortunately, it was never meant to be
Alec had been struggling mentally, though he'd kept it a secret for Alice--that is, until he could no longer keep it hidden. One night after Alice got home from work, she found Alec in the middle of a mental break. She'd tried to calm him down but nothing worked and he eventually ran off into the night. He disappeared for 2 straight weeks--Alice had had him declared a missing person and everything. However, when he finally did re-emerge, he apologetically told Alice that he needed help and space. Though she insisted on sticking by his side, in sickness and in health, he insisted that he didn't want her by his side. This broke Alice
Alone and abandoned, Alice spiraled into a depression and relapsed with heroin. Thankfully, her brothers quickly helped her get into rehab where she was reminded why she had worked so hard to get clean in the first place. Since then, Alice has proudly remained sober
A NEW LEAF
Life after marriage was difficult for Alice and she went through a period of feeling very ashamed of her failed marriage and the fact that she was a 25 year old divorcee. Even though all of her loved ones knew it wasn't her fault, she couldn't help but feel embarrassed and for a time, she foolishly swore of love entirely
Though she was still heartbroken over Alec, what was even more devastating was the fact that she'd planned to have a family with her ex-husband and now, that had all been seemingly ripped away from her. However, after a while of being stubborn, Alice finally realized that she didn't need a partner to have a child. She made the decision to go forward with invitro and in December of 2019, she found out that she was expecting
On August 12, 2020, Alice gave birth to a beautiful baby girl and named her Rhea. The little girl, now almost 4, is Alice's pride and joy. Even though one day, she would still love to find someone to share her life with, her daughter, her amazing extended family, and her wonderful friends have truly made Alice the happiest she's ever been
Alice is currently a journalist at the Anchorage Daily Diem. While she tries her best to only stick to the stories that her boss wants her to cover, due Alice's natural curious mind, she often finds herself getting into sticky situations and putting her nose where it shouldn't necessarily be
Alice still figure skates as a hobby and you can usually find her down at the rink early in the morning--her favorite way to greet her day is with a hot cup of coffee and a loop around the rink

Summary: It’s been over a month since you and Eddie agreed to keep your distance from one another. But when an incident occurs at Family Video, you feel conflicted about your decision.
Warnings: swearing, smoking, underage drinking.

Author’s Note: Hi! I’m sorry for not updating in a while. Been having massive writer’s block, and I had to rewrite this chapter as I wasn’t satisfied with the previous attempts.
“And smile,” your mother said, as she held the Polaroid camera to her face, taking a couple of photos of Mary and Jason in their prom outfits, while Cain smiled at the couple, as he wiped a tear away. “You look so beautiful, darling,” he commented.
Meanwhile, you were in the kitchen, finishing your dinner before heading back to work. You had decided not to go to prom so Mary could go with Jason, even though they wanted you to come too. However, you swapped shifts with Steve, so he could do something before going with Robin and Vickie.
You were straightening your badge and got off your chair. You then grabbed your bag, as you called out, “I’m off now.”
You were about to head out when Mary call out, “Hey! You’re not leaving until you have a picture with us.”
You rolled your eyes, before letting out a giggle as you went into the living room and stood next to Mary. You then smiled for the camera, as your mother took the photos. After the photos were taken, Mary asked you, “Do you really need to work tonight? Come to prom with us. I’m sure Keith can manage.”
“I wish I could, but I still have to cover Steve’s shift. Apparently he’s got to do something before taking Robin and Vickie,”you replied.
“Well, I can drop you off on the way there,” Jason offered.
“Thanks, but I can cycle.”
“Be careful,” your dad chimed in. You nodded, saying goodbye your family and Jason, before telling him and Mary, “Have fun tonight.”
The couple thanked you, as you headed for the door.
Not long after you had arrived back at work, you were setting yourself up at the counter when Keith came out, wearing a tuxedo, carrying a box. “A bit overdressed for the rest of the shift,” you joked.
“Very funny, Cinderella,” Keith retorted, as he was about to leave when you called out, “Uh, hold on! You’re not really going to prom, are you?”
Instead of answering you, Keith started walking out, humming.
“Hey! You can’t expect me to serve the customers on my own.” As soon as Keith left and got in a car with Ally, you groaned, as you started banging your head on the counter. “Great,” you sarcastically muttered, as you lifted your head up when a couple of customers entered the store.
An hour or so later, Jason and Mary had finished slow dancing and made their way to a table, Mary was greeted by Steve, Robin and Vickie, before waving at Nancy, who was with Jonathan and his friend from Lenora Hills, Argyle. Earlier, Steve had picked up Jonathan and Argyle at the airport, so Jonathan could surprise Nancy. They approached a table, and sat with Andy and Chance. “I can’t believe Patrick didn’t come tonight,” Andy said loudly over the music. “He’s missing out.” Suddenly, a couple of girls from the cheer team went up to Andy and Chance, asking for a dance, which they accepted.
After the boys joined the girls on the dance floor, Jason and Mary watched them, when she asked, “You’re okay…with Patrick being with Chrissy?”
Jason smiled, as he responded, “Yeah, I am.”
Mary tilted her head, as she continued to ask, “So, have they actually…?”
“They haven’t exactly said, but if they do tell me that they’re together, they’ll have my blessing.”
As he put his hand on top of hers, Jason told her, “I’m glad that you came with me tonight.”
Mary smiled, as she replied, “Me too. Months ago, I never thought that I would end up going to senior prom with you, let alone date you.”
Jason chuckled, before telling her, “Yet here we are.”
Mary laughed, before he leaned closer to her, as they both shared a kiss, only to be cut short by a sound of a slap. They turned to find an angry Ally stomping away from Keith. “What the hell?” Mary exclaimed.
“Why’s he here?” Jason asked. “I thought he was working tonight.”
Mary was about to go up to Keith, only to be stopped by Jason when they saw Keith take a swig from his flask. “I hope he’s not gonna do something stupid tonight,” Mary muttered.
A few moments later, you were serving Chrissy and Barnaby, who were renting The Black Cauldron, as some of the other customers had left with their rentals.
As you were checking out the tape, Chrissy said, “You must’ve served half of Hawkins tonight.”
“Yeah, no thanks to Keith,” you replied.
“Still can’t believe Keith left you to do the shift by yourself.”
“I still can’t believe that he’s got a date for prom. I’m pretty sure that he bribed Ally to go with him.”
After checking out the tape, you passed it to Chrissy, who gave you the money for the rental, as you asked her, “So, you’re really not upset about not going to prom?”
Chrissy shook her head, before replying, “After what happened with me and Eddie, we didn’t deserve to go. Besides…” Chrissy had put her arm around her little brother, as she continued to speak, while tussling his hair. “I get to have a movie night with this little guy.”
“And Patrick too,” Barnaby blurted, as he moved her hand away.
“Oh,” you exclaimed, you gave her a surprised look. “Jason didn’t say that Patrick wasn’t going.”
“It was a last minute decision,” Chrissy replied, when you noticed Barnaby was making kissy face behind Chrissy’s back, causing you to let out a giggle. As soon as she turned to him, Barnaby stopped, expressing a mischievous smile.
Chrissy shifted her attention back to you, as she said, “We better get going, before he gets more mischievous.”
She had put her arm around Barnaby, as they were leaving when Chrissy stopped and turned to you, and told you, “Listen, I know you guys aren’t talking anymore, but I thought you should know that Eddie misses you.”
Your face fell, hearing her comment. Ever since you and Eddie had agreed to keep your distance, you tried your best to avoid any conversations involving him, and the places you would go with him, even the Hideout. You were about to say something when Chrissy elaborated, “He didn’t actually say, but I’ve seen the way he looks at you in class.”
You silently looked down at the counter, whilst fidgeting with the stacks of returned tapes, wondering if what she said was true.
“I’m sorry,” Chrissy began to apologise. “I shouldn’t have said-“
“Don’t worry about it,” you softly replied, as you shook your head.
As you looked back up, Chrissy gave you a small smile, before saying goodbye to you.
As soon as they left, you rested your chin on the stacks as you sighed when you heard Barnaby clamouring, “Chrissy and Patrick, sitting in a tree, K-I-S-“
“Stop!” You heard Chrissy cry, making you giggle, as you sat up and picked the tapes up. After you had rewind some of the tapes, you had put them in their designated shelves. After putting the last video tape on the shelf in the science fiction section, you couldn’t help but look at The Planet of the Apes cover. You picked it up, as thought about the first time you watched it with Eddie, reminiscing about how he would make you laugh by re-enacting the ending scene. You thought about that memory when you thought about Chrissy’s comment. Does he really miss me? You shook your head, before putting the tape back on the shelf. You then went over to the drama section and picked up Nineteen Eighty Four, deciding to play it during your shift.
After you took the tape out of its cover and put it in the VCR player, you sat down on the stool and grabbed the controller, before pressing the play button, waiting for the film to start when you heard the bell ring at the door, making you get off the stool, as you began to greet, “Welcome to Family Vi-“
You froze when you saw Eddie standing in front of the counter, holding a tape.
For the first time in over a month, you were facing him. Trying your best to be professional, you cleared your throat, before asking him, “How can I help?”
Instead of answering you, Eddie looked at the video cover and smirked, as he picked it up. “Trust you to pick a dystopian movie on your shift,” he lightly chuckled. “Last I remember, you picked Soylent Green-“
Eddie paused as he watched you give him a stern look, making his smile drop. As he placed the cover back on the counter, he cleared his throat. “I’m just…returning…” He hesitated, as he put down his copy of Nightmare on Elm Street. You took the tape, trying to avoid eye contact with him. You then checked if the tape had been rewound. After seeing it had been, you checked it in when Eddie spoke, “It’s quiet tonight. I thought the place would be packed with half of Hawkins.”
He quietly chuckled, as he watched you typing on the database.
He sighed as you continued to avoid meeting his gaze. He had no idea that you were working. If it weren’t for the fact that the rental was due, he would’ve come back another day, saving you the trouble of seeing him.
Eddie gulped, and began to speak, “Look-“
Suddenly, the electricity went out in the store. Eddie heard you swear, as he padded closer to the counter, only to hear your footsteps move further away. He leaned over, as he called your name when he heard a loud bang. “Shit!” You shouted from the back room.
A worried Eddie looked up at the door, and rushed into the back room. After he took out his lighter and flipped the lid off, lighting it up, he began searching the room when he found you squatting down on the floor, looking for something.
“Where’s the flashlight?” You growled, “Why can’t Keith put things where they belong?”
“You okay?” Eddie asked, before realising that Keith wasn’t here. “Where’s Keith anyway?”
You quickly turned your head to face him for a second, before turning back to look for the flashlight, as you mumbled, having no choice but to answer him, “He’s at the prom.”
Eddie’s eyes widened, as he asked, “What? You’ve been working on your own this whole time?”
You didn’t respond. You continued to search for the flashlight when you heard Eddie sigh, before hearing his footsteps move away from you. You turned around again, finding Eddie opening the fuse box with his free hand, before he slipped the switches, bringing the electricity back.
“And then God said let there be light,” Eddie dramatically cried. He then chuckled as he flipped the lid back on his lighter. As he turned around, his smile dropped when he noticed a cut on one side of your forehead. “What?” You asked, looking confused, when Eddie suddenly grabbed your shoulders and gently sat you down on the chair, as he asked, “Where’s the first aid kit?” You silently turned your head to the cupboard, and you were about to get up and get the first aid kit when Eddie stopped you. “No, you sit, I’ll get it,” Eddie said, before going to the cupboard and picked up the first aid kit. You lightly touched your head, and winced. As you looked down at blood on your fingertips, you thought, Shit, I must’ve cut my head when something fell off the shelf.
After grabbing what he needed, Eddie squatted in front of you and took out a disinfected wipe, before he started gently dab it on your wound, making you wince.
Eddie apologised, as he continued to dab the wipe on your forehead, when he began speak, “Can’t believe Keith left you on your own.”
You glanced down at the floor, biting your lip when Eddie mumbled, “When I see that asshole, I’m kicking his ass.”
You gave a small smile, as you looked up to glance back when Eddie quickly looked down, tearing a plaster out of the cover and stuck it onto your wound, as he said, “There we go.”
He was about to tousle your hair when he stopped and refrained himself.
“Thanks,” you mumbled, as you were about to stand up when Eddie stopped you, “Woah! I think you should stay still for a while,” he told you, as he had his hands on your shoulders.
You moved his hands away, as you retorted, “I’m fine.”
You stood up and took a step forward when you started to feel wobbly. Eddie held onto you, steadying you, as he sat you on the chair. “Easy, sweetheart,” Eddie softly spoke, as he lightly rubbed your shoulder.
“Do you need me to drive you to the hospital?” He asked, as he squatted in front of you.
You silently shook your head, when he suggested, “Well, maybe I can take you home. I’ll let Harrington and Buckley know what happened-“
“I’m fine,” you snapped as you glared at him. Eddie’s eyes darkened, as he angrily muttered, “Fine.” He stood up straight and turned away from you, before walking away, as he continued to mutter, “Don’t come crying to me when something else falls on your head.” Your eyes softened, feeling guilty for shouting at him, while Eddie stormed out. “Eddie-“ you called out when you heard the bell ring. You leaned forward, covering your face and started to quietly sob.
Back outside, a grumbling Eddie stormed towards his van and opened his door, before getting inside. He was about to switch on the ignition when he heard the radio from another vehicle, belonging to a kissing couple, started playing Chicago’s Hard Habit To Break. He then looked up at the store, face softening, as tears fell down on his cheeks, before he pressed his forehead against the steering wheel, sobbing, wishing that he could take back what he said.
Meanwhile in the storeroom, you heard a vehicle driving off. You had wanted to keep your distance from Eddie, but with him leaving the way he did, you began to realise how much you missed him. Your thoughts broke when you heard the bell ring again. Assuming it was a customer coming in, you called out, “I’ll be with you in a few minutes.” You wiped your tears away, as you got up to get a tissue from the toilet when you felt wobbly again, before your vision started getting blurry. You faintly heard someone calling your name, before you started losing consciousness…
“Has she had any previous head injuries?”
“Well, she, uh…hit her head at school awhile ago, but I don’t think she went to the hospital for it.”
You fluttered your eyes open, finding yourself in a hospital bed, before shifting your attention to Eddie talking to the nurse.
“Will she be okay?” You heard Eddie ask with concern in his voice.
“We’re still waiting for the results,” the nurse informed him.
“Eddie?” You croaked, as you slowly sat up. Eddie turned around and realised that you were awake. As he went over to sit down beside you, he softly greeted you, “Hey sweetheart, how are you feeling?”
You rubbed your eyes, as you asked hoarsely, “How long have I been here?”
“Several hours,” Eddie replied, as the nurse approached you.
“You were lucky that your boyfriend was there when you fainted,” the nurse told you, as she checked your fluids.
Boyfriend? You thought, as you watched her walk away. You were about to tell her that he wasn’t your boyfriend, when Eddie asked, “When’s she allowed to leave?”
“Like I said, we’re still waiting for the results,” she replied. “But if she starts vomiting or anything like that, let us know immediately.”
Eddie nod at the nurse, before she left the room.
You noticed that Eddie kept yawning. “Have you been here all night?” You asked.
“Pretty much,” Eddie replied, as he stretched his legs, before he checked his watch, and continued to reply, “Had only a couple of hours of sleep.”
You gasped, only realising that you’ve been in bed overnight. “Shit,” you exclaimed. “The video store-“
“Don’t worry. I called your folks and your dad locked up for you.”
You sighed, before mumbling, “That’s a relief. Otherwise, Keith would’ve been pissed.”
“I don’t think that you need to worry about Keith. He’s got bigger problems right now.”
You furrowed your brows, as you asked, “What do you mean?”
Eddie sighed, as he stood up. “You’ll probably see for yourself later,” Eddie said. “You’ve got Mary and Carver waiting outside, I’ll get them now.”
You tried to speak when Eddie left the room. You sighed, as you heard the door open once more. Mary and Jason came in, still wearing their prom outfits. “Hey,” Mary greeted you, as she and Jason sat beside you. “How are you feeling?” She asked, as she took your hand.
“I’m okay,” you croaked. “Have you guys been here all night too?”
“Yeah. Mostly went to cafeteria and got coffee for Eddie while he insisted on staying with you.” Mary explained that your dad had left a note, which Steve and Robin found, about you going the to hospital.
“Munson explained how it happened,” Jason said. “You were lucky that he was there when he was.”
“I wouldn’t say that,” Mary chimed. “If Keith had been at work instead of prom, you wouldn’t be here.”
“Eddie said that Keith has bigger problems, what did he mean by that?” You asked.
Jason and Mary explained that Keith and Ally had a fall out, because he kept talking about Nancy and by the time Higgins had announced Prom King, who was unsurprisingly Jason, and Prom Queen, to everyone’s surprise, was Nancy, Keith had stumbled onto the stage, drunkenly professing his love for eldest Wheeler, before he fell off the stage and hurt himself.
“Shit, is he okay?” You asked.
Before any of them could answer, you heard a familiar male voice yell, “My head!”
“Was that…?” You began to ask.
“Keith? Yeah, it was,” Mary replied.
“How serious are his injuries?”
A few moments later, Mary and Jason wheeled you to Keith’s room, seeing a badly injured Keith with casts plastered on both arms and legs, as well as a neck collar.
Keith had let out an exaggeration groan in pain when Mary and Steve silently glared at him, making him stop.
“I know you said he fell off the stage, but I never thought it would be this bad,” you said.
“He’s gonna be off work for quite a while,” Steve replied, as he knocked on one of Keith’s plastered legs, making Keith groan. “But I’m sure Robin and I can cope.”
“Uh, and me,” you retorted.
“Well obviously,” Steve had put his hands on his hips before telling you, “But you need to rest. Speaking of which…”
Suddenly, Steve came up behind you and started wheeling you back to your room, with Mary and Jason following you. “I’m taking you back to your room,” Steve said, while Keith continued to groan. As Steve wheeled you through the hallway, you heard a frantic male voice say loudly, “She’s not in her room. She hasn’t discharged herself, has she?”
As Steve continued to push you, you saw a nurse walking fast down the hall with a frantic Eddie behind her as she apologised and informed him that she needed to see another patient when he spotted you and the others. You saw him sigh with relief, before he ran up to you, nearly knocking you over.
“Woah! Easy Munson,” Steve exclaimed. “You could’ve knocked her out of her chair.”
“Sorry,” Eddie panted. “I just went inside and she wasn’t there. I thought something happened.”
“I’m okay,” you assured him. “Mary and Jason just took me to see Keith.”
Eddie rubbed his forehead, feeling relieved. “How are you feeling now?” He asked.
“Well, I haven’t vomited,” you replied.
“That’s good.” Eddie cleared his throat, before announcing, “Well, I guess I better go, you don’t need me…”
He began to turn around when he heard you speak, “Eddie?”
He turned back to you, as you asked, “Maybe you could take me back to my room?”
Everyone gaped, as an astonished Eddie asked, “Really?”
“Are you sure you want him to?” Mary asked, worried that Eddie’s presence might upset you.
Eddie gazed at you, when you nodded. “I’m sure,” you replied.
Eddie smiled as Steve moved back, telling him, “She’s all yours.”
Eddie went behind the wheelchair when Mary asked, “Do you need us to stay?”
You shook your head, telling her, “You guys should go home and rest.”
Mary gave you a goodbye hug, before walking with Jason, who lightly tousled your hair.
“I better get going too,” Steve announced. “I gotta pick up Robin.”
Steve lightly patted your shoulder, before leaving with the couple, while Eddie wheeled you back to your room. “Okay,” Eddie said, as he walked backwards, entering your room. “Do you need me to get one of the nurses to help you get on the bed?” He asked, as he wheeled you closer to your bed.
“I think I’m okay,” you replied, as you slowly got up from the wheelchair and moved carefully to the bed, and got in it.
As soon as you settled, Eddie moved the wheelchair near the wall, before announcing, “I better get going.” He went up the door, as he continued to speak, while reaching for the doorknob , “I’ll see you around, maybe-“
“Eddie?” You interjected, causing him to stop, and turn to face you.
“Can we talk?” You asked.
A worried Eddie asked, as he approached you, “This isn’t about the boyfriend thing, is it?”
You silently looked at him when he sighed and sat down, as he began to explain, “Look, I only said that to the nurses, so I could stay with you until-“
“It’s not that,” you interjected.
Eddie furrowed his brow, as he asked, “Then, what is it?”
You took a deep breath, before telling him, “It’s about our…agreement.”
Eddie shook his head, before telling you, “I know that we agreed to keep our distance. And I didn’t intend on coming on your shift. I only went because I didn’t wanna get a fine, or else Wayn-“
“I made a mistake,” you confessed.
Eddie’s eyes widened, as he croaked, “What?”
“I thought…keeping my distance from you would help me get over you, but…after you walked out last night, I realised that…I miss you.”
A stunned Eddie gazed at you, as you continued to speak, with tears brimmed in your eyes, “And I know that I said I didn’t want to latch onto you like a lovesick puppy, and still don’t want to do that. But, you mean so much to me, as a friend, and I just-“
Suddenly, Eddie shot up from his chair. You anxiously looked up at him, feeling sure that Eddie was going to leave when he suddenly wrapped his arms around you, embracing you. “E-Eddie…?” You whispered, as you heard him quietly sob.
“I’m sorry for leaving you like that,” Eddie wept, as he held you close. “If I hadn’t come back…Jesus Christ, I wouldn’t have forgiven myself if something happened…”
“It’s okay,” you softly replied, as you returned the embrace.
Eddie quietly sobbed, while holding you tight.
“Eddie…”
“Yes sweetheart?”
“You’re squeezing me too hard.”
“Oh,” Eddie exclaimed, as he let go of you. He let out a nervous laugh, before he began to apologise. The two of you wiped your tears away, when Eddie softly spoke, “I guess I’ve missed you too much.”
You lightly chuckled as you opened your arms, when Eddie asked, “You sure?”
“As long as you don’t squeeze me to death,” you joked.
Eddie chuckled, before embracing you once more.
After the two of you had let go of each other, you both began to talk about slowly rebuilding your friendship.
Weeks later, after your reconciliation with Eddie, you and the Hellfire club, as well as Erica, were in the back of the auditorium, in the middle of a campaign. Will, who came back to Hawkins with his family including El and Hopper for the summer holidays, also joined in. You promised Eddie that after the graduation ceremony, you would join in the campaign. For the past few weeks, while rebuilding your friendship with him, Eddie had taught you how to play.
Surprisingly, you all managed to beat Eddie’s campaign, even though you had a rough start. After finishing the campaign, you all agreed to watch a movie. Eddie leaned towards you, before telling you, “Now, seeing as you’ve survived your first official campaign, you get to pick the movie.”
“As long as it’s not a chick flick,” Gareth chimed in.
You rolled your eyes, as you chuckled, when Eddie told the others, “You guys are in charge of snacks, we’ll meet you at Henderson’s after we pick up a movie.”
“Why my place?” Dustin asked.
“Because I’m the club leader, and I said so,” Eddie retorted.
“Well, as you’re club leader, why don’t you host at yours?”
Eddie was about to bark back, when you said, “Actually Eddie, I haven’t seen Wayne in a while, and I’d like to see him. So…maybe we can watch the movie at yours instead?”
Unable to resist your puppy eyes, Eddie raised his hands, replying, “Okay, fine. We’ll watch at my place. But I should warn you, the maid took the week off again.”
After Eddie told them what snacks to get, some of the members left backstage, while you, Will and Dustin helped clean up. Eddie was putting away his D&D set, as he was having a discussion with Will about the next campaigns. After filling up a bin bag, Will told you that he was going to find a trash can, when Dustin said, “I’ll go with you, I gotta call Steve anyway.”
As they were leaving, Dustin asked you what movie you wanted Steve to reserve for you. “Planet of the Apes,” you called out.
After the younger boys left, you were putting the chairs away, as Eddie continued to put away his set when you knocked over a paper bag. You knelt down and picked it up, while Eddie paused with packing and turned his head to look at you when he noticed you holding the bag. “Oh shit,” he exclaimed, as he snatched it from you.
“Don’t worry, I wasn’t going to open it,” you assured him. “I swear.”
As Eddie held the bag close to his chest, you asked, “So, whose it from?”
“Huh?” He exclaimed.
“Well I didn’t see anyone give it to you at graduation, and it must be something so important that you wouldn’t want me to look.”
Eddie sighed, before telling you, “The guys will kill me for giving it to you now, but…”
He handed the bag to you, as he continued to speak, “I can’t wait any longer for you to see.”
You giggled, as you carefully opened the bag, and took out a Hellfire shirt.
You gasped, as Eddie moved closer to you, telling you, “I figured that now you know how to play, you’ll need the gear.”
“Really?” You smiled, as you gazed at the shirt, before looking up at him, as you thanked him.
“You’re welcome, sweetheart,” Eddie replied, as you neatly put the shirt back in the bag. “Listen, when I give you the shirt in front of the guys, could you act surprised?”
“Like this?” You asked, before letting out a dramatic gasp.
Eddie chuckled, as he helped finish tying the bag and placed it on the table.
“Thank you, Eddie,” you said, as you wrapped your arms around his neck and embraced him. “It’s one of the best gifts I’ve ever gotten.”
Eddie chuckled, as he held you close. You then moved back as you let go of him when all of the sudden, Eddie crashed his lips into yours. You froze, feeling confused by his action. However, you gave in, mewling as you kissed him back when you felt him stumbling back. You opened your eyes, as you heard him gasping, as covering his mouth with both hands. “E-Eddie…?” Your voice cracked.
“I-I have n-no idea why…?” Eddie tried to explain his actions when you both heard Dustin and Will talking, as they entered the room. “Bad news, someone else has rented the last copy of Planet of the Apes, so it’ll just have to be either-“ Dustin stopped talking, as he and Will looked at the pair of you. Sensing some tension between you two, Dustin asked, “What’s going on?”
Before either of you could say something, Dustin pointed at the bag, and asked, “Did you peek?”
“Peek at what?” You denied. Dustin gave you a suspicious glance, before Eddie quickly asked, wanting to divert attention from you, “So, what’s Harrington reserved?”
After picking up the video Steve reserved for you, which was Back To The Future, the four of you drove to the trailer park. While Will and Dustin were sitting in the backseat, catching up, you and Eddie sat in silence, which made Dustin suspicious.
“Okay, what’s going on with you two?” Dustin asked, as he poked his head between you two.
You turned your head and asked, “What?”
“Ever since we came back, you two have been acting weird. You haven’t falling out again, have you?”
Both you and Eddie denied falling out, before Eddie pushed Dustin’s head back, as he said, “Now are you done with the interrogation, Columbo? I need to focus on the road.”
Dustin huffed, as he sat back in his seat. While Eddie was driving, he looked over at you, as he thought, Why did I kiss her? I’ve never been attracted to her. But, that kiss-
“Hey!” Eddie’s thoughts broke, as he heard Dustin yell. “Eyes on the road!”
A few moments later, Eddie drove through the trailer park and parked his van outside his place.
As you all got out, Wayne was coming out of the trailer, as he greeted you all.
“I’ve let your friends in,” Wayne said, as he got in his pickup truck. “Whatever you have planned tonight, be sure to clean up.”
“I thought you had the night off tonight,” Eddie replied.
“I do. Cain called and asked if I wanted to come over. I’m sure that he wanted Mary out of the house so she can go to the graduation party with Jason.”
After Wayne said goodbye, he drove off, as you waved, while Dustin, who was holding the bag, called, “See ya, Mr Munson.”
The two younger boys were walking to the trailer when Eddie came up to you. “Listen, sweetheart,” he began to speak. “About earlier-“
“Don’t worry about it, let’s just forget about it,” you quietly replied with a sad tone in your voice, before catching up with Dustin and Will. Eddie stood still and watched you walk away, figuring out how to approach you about the kiss, before catching with the others.
As you all went inside the trailer, you noticed that El and Max sitting on the sofa, chatting with Mike and Lucas. As the girls greeted you, Lucas told Eddie that they invited the girls over to watch the movie. Before Eddie could say anything, Dustin began to announce, “Before we watch the movie, we want-“
Suddenly, Eddie took the bag from him. “Hey!” Dustin exclaimed, “I haven’t finished.”
Eddie glared at him, as he retorted, “I’m still club leader and Dungeon Master, so I’ll make the announcement.”
“Okay, no need to act like a child,” Dustin mumbled.
“I heard that, butthead,” Eddie retorted, making Erica let out a stifling laugh.
Eddie turned to you, and said, as he smiled, “On behalf of Hellfire, I present you with this gift.”
Eddie handed over the bag to you, before you opened it. You pretended to be shocked, as you lifted the Hellfire shirt up, “Holy shit!” You exclaimed. “Thank you so much guys.”
As everyone clapped, Dustin leaned towards Will, as he whispered, “She’s definitely seen it already.”
After everyone congratulated you, Eddie suddenly announced, “Oh, and another thing. The band and I will be in California next month for an audition for a record company, so we won’t be attending Hellfire during that time.”
While everyone else cheered and clapped, you quietly clapped. You had no idea that the band was going away. Not once did Eddie mention it to you when the two of you had been spending time together. While Eddie padded towards the television, everyone else started sitting down when you plopped yourself down next to Max on the sofa. Eddie had inserted the tape into the VCR, and went to sit next to you when he saw that Dustin had commandeered the seat.
Eddie was about to make Dustin move when he looked at you, noticing that you were avoiding his gaze. Eddie sighed, before sitting on his uncle’s armchair, as the film started to play.
You were snacking on the popcorn while the film was showing the prom fight scene. While you and everyone else cheered for George McFly, Eddie sat silently with his hand resting on his cheek, unable to focus on the movie. All through the film, he kept looking at you, as he still thought about the kiss. He still didn’t understand what came over him. Not once, had he ever thought of you as more than an friend.
I just don’t get it, he thought to himself. I don’t know why I kissed her. Not gonna lie though, I kinda liked it.
He then remembered what Mary told him that night at the Hideout, about why you hid your crush on him, and how things would be awkward with him being your dealer if you had got together and broke up.
I’m no longer her dealer, he thought, as he continued to look at you. And we’re both single. So, maybe if she wants to-
He snapped himself out of his thoughts when he heard Gareth asked him, “Eddie, man. Why aren’t you watching?”
“Huh?” Eddie exclaimed, as he noticed that everyone, including you, were staring at him. He was quiet for a moment, before he suddenly stood up, as he mumbled, “I’m going for a smoke.”
Eddie walked past the counter, grabbing his packet of Camel’s, before heading out into the porch. You heard Jeff ask Gareth, “What’s up with him?”
You looked over at the door, wondering if Eddie was okay. You knew that you told him to forget about earlier, but you decided to check on him. So, you got up and made an excuse that you were going to the bathroom. You approached the bathroom door, as you checked that no one was watching you, before heading out to the porch, where you saw a spaced out Eddie, frantically smoking his cigarette, unaware that you were standing behind him. “Penny for your thoughts?” You asked, startling Eddie.
“Jesus Christ…” he groaned. “You could’ve given me a heart attack.”
You sat down on the old sofa, as Eddie continued to puff. “I thought you were watching the movie,” Eddie said. “You’re gonna miss the prom scene. I know that’s your favourite part.”
You giggled, surprised that Eddie remembered your favourite scene, before replying, “I’ve seen it like a gazillion times. I just wanted to check on you.”
You watched Eddie silently smoking, as you asked, “Is this about earlier? The kiss?”
Eddie stopped taking a puff, unsure what to say to you.
You sighed, before telling him, “Eddie, it’s okay.”
Eddie took notice of the sad tone in your voice, as he stubbed out his cigarette on the ashtray, when you continued to say, “I know that you didn’t mean it, and I’m sure that you want to forget that it ever happ-“
“I don’t” Eddie interjected, making you furrow your brow. “Look, I don’t know what came over me. I never once thought of you as more than a friend…”
“No, I get it,” you retorted, getting teary eyed, as you got to your feet and went back inside. Realising what he just said, Eddie got up and grabbed you, pulling you into his bedroom, making you yelp, before he shut the door. Fortunately, the others were so engrossed with the movie that they didn’t hear you two.
“What are you doing?” You asked in a hushed tone. “You can’t just-“
Before you could get another word out, Eddie cupped your face and passionately kissed you.
You heard Eddie moan, as he deepened the kiss.
To his surprise, you pushed him away. Eddie mumbled your name, as you slid down against the door, feeling confused.
He called your name once again, when you asked, “Why?”
Eddie furrowed his brow, as you asked, with tears brimming in your eyes, “Why did you…? You just said that you never thought of me as-“
“I know what I said,” Eddie interjected, as he squatted down in front of you. “But what I was trying to say was…I never thought of you like that, but after I kissed you, I couldn’t help but think that-“
You shook your head, as you interrupted.“Please don’t do this.”
“Do what?” Eddie asked.
“Make out that you suddenly have feelings for me-“
“What if I do?”
You glanced at him, as he sat on the floor, with his legs crossed, before he asked, “What if I do have feelings for you?”
“Eddie…” you mumbled, as you frantically shook your head. “We can’t-“
“What?” Eddie asked.
“We can’t be…” you quietly sobbed, as he crawled towards you and sat next to you.
“I don’t get it,” Eddie softly spoke. “I thought that you like me.”
“I do, it’s just…We’ve only just become friends again. And you’ve broken up with Chrissy not so long ago.”
Eddie sighed, before he asked, “Is it just because you don’t want to be a rebound? Are you worried about things getting awkward between us if we did break up while I was still your dealer?”
You continued to quietly cry when he asked, “Or are you worried that I’ll become an asshole again and neglect everything and everyone?”
You sniffled, when Eddie sighed before he said, “Look, sweetheart…” You felt him wrapping his arm around you as he explained, “That won’t happen. For one, I’m not dealing now. I promised Wayne that I won’t do it anymore.”
You stared at him in disbelief when Eddie confessed, “Also…I’m over Chrissy. And besides, I don’t want to go back to being that guy again.” You sniffled, as Eddie wiped your tears away, before you asked, “What about the band though? You’re going to California soon, and even if we did get together, it probably wouldn’t work out-“
“We’re just going a week,” Eddie interjected. “And it’s just to audition, we’re not moving there. Jesus, if Gareth’s mom thought that we were moving there, she wouldn’t let Gareth stay in the band unless he graduates.”
You gazed at him, as you blurted, “I didn’t know that you guys were even going.”
“Well I wanted to tell you straight away, but the guys wanted it to be surprise.”
Eddie started stroking your hair, as he continued to speak, “Look, I can see that you don’t want to jump into a relationship right now. Like you said, we’ve only just become friends again, so…I can wait.”
“Really?” You whispered.
“For as long as you need, sweetheart.”
You smiled, as you thanked him. Eddie leaned towards you and kissed the top of your head.
He then got to his feet, and pulled you up, before telling you, “We better get back, before the others wonder where we’ve got to.”
You nodded, as Eddie opened the door, and to your surprise, the most of the boys fell forward as they yelped, while the girls, Lucas and Will stood behind them.
As they got to their feet, letting out groans, you asked, “Have you been spying to us?”
“I told them not to do it,” Max told you.
Eddie was about to scowl at them when he noticed that the three older boys were sniffling. “Are you guys…crying?” He asked.
They denied it, claiming that dust was in their eyes. You giggled, as you and Eddie stepped out of his room.
