Currently on view at Rojo Galerie in Manila, Philippines is artist Mark Barretto's solo exhibition, "Closer to Home."
Mark says of the exhibition: "Closer To Home is a series of new body of works that navigates the familiar and unfamiliar state of being afar. It sets a discourse about distance, taking chances, standing still, and holding on to hopes and aspirations. For this show I made new paintings and a sculpture, and features a mix of shapes, icons, and a new character I named OTHER."

F1 Sources
I’ve been asked a few times about what F1 sources I deem as being reliable and here’s a mostly conclusive list
Some of these are particularly reliable for news about certain teams/drivers, and some are all rounders
Magazines/Media Outlets
- AMuS (Auto Motor und Sport), German Motorsport publication, personally my holy grail. Very good for reports on technical stuff.
- Canal+, reliable particularly for Alpine related stuff
- Sky Sports UK, typically don’t comment on rumours until they’re essentially confirmed but sometimes say the wildest shit with no real bearing
- Sky Italia, reliable about Ferrari
- Autosport
- Motorsport.com
People
- Chris Medland, honestly my favourite journalist, he won’t report on anything until it’s verified. Very handy during race weekends
- Giuliano Duchessa, great technical information and also really good for Ferrari news
- Tobi Grüner, AMuS journalist. Does tech stuff but also paddock news
- Albert Fabrega, credible Spanish journalist. Good technical source, especially for upgrades
- Craig Scarborough, excellent technical source
- Andrew Benson, BBC journalist pretty decent information
- Jolyon Palmer, very good technical information (but be aware he is employed by FOM so some things that he says may be influenced by that)
- Erik van Haren, this one is so-so in my opinion. Usually has very accurate news about Red Bull/Verstappen but also has occasionally been used in the past as a mouthpiece of sorts
Less reliable sources (imo)
- ESPN, a bit of a FOM mouthpiece (compared to other sources)
- Lawrence Barretto, FOM employee typically says/writes what they want
- Will Buxton, FOM employee typically says/writes what they want
- Joe Saward, used to be somewhat reliable but recently talks a lot of nonsense
- The Race, sometimes can have good information (particularly things written by Mark Hughes) but a lot is clickbait nonsense

F1 writers mid-season about Verstappen
[Max] is so much calmer now that he’s won a title, has the air about him of someone much more at ease with everything and is being a great team leader. Plus he’s driving beautifully. It’s going to take something nuclear to derail Max and Red Bull at this stage.
David Tremayne
Verstappen is delivering a 360-degree performance in his quest to win a title with no question marks surrounding it. Even on those occasions when he and his RB18 have not been the fastest, he's taken the global view of his seasonal quest without losing any of the peak brilliance. As a combination Verstappen and Red Bull don’t have any serious competition.
Mark Hughes
Verstappen? What can you say? The best we’ve ever seen of him. Peerless and practically perfect in 2022.I can’t see them slipping up now. It’s a well-oiled machine that knows how to win titles. Verstappen, freed from the stress of trying to secure a first crown, is driving with joy over pressure and it shows. Long-game thinking coupled with fantastic racecraft.
Will Buxton
Max Verstappen has been near perfect this year. Eight wins from 13 Grands Prix is ruthlessly good. Even on poorer weekends like Monaco and Hungary he’s scored big. It's difficult to see anyone beating Max this year. He could sit out the next three races and still be leading the driver's championship.
Lawrence Barretto
Max Verstappen has been so clinical and calm throughout the season, shrugging off his two early DNFs to build the foundations for what will surely be his second championship for Red Bull.  [...] I think Verstappen and his team are on an unstoppable run to the title.

Always I believe its possible Alonso insists third championship title is still in his sights
Fernando Alonso says he can see himself continuing in Formula 1 for “a few more years” as he extends his overall race start record and chases a third world title to add to the two he achieved back in the mid-noughties. With more than 350 races under his belt, 41-year-old Alonso is the oldest driver on the F1 grid and recently embarked on his 20th season in the sport, marking the start of a new chapter with the much-improved Aston Martin team. BARRETTO: How Aston Martin surged up the F1 pecking order – and why there should be plenty more to come During an interview with team sponsor Bang & Olufsen about his lengthy F1 career, Alonso was asked about what the future might hold and how much longer he is likely to compete in the top echelon beyond his current ‘multi-year’ deal. “I would love to know the answer as well,” Alonso began. “I think when I started in Formula 1, my idea was to be [here] for seven or eight years. Then I won the two championships and I thought I will race maybe one or two more years, then I will stop. “Now I find myself with the longest career ever in Formula 1. I’m still fresh. I’m still motivated. I’m still enjoying every single day. I wake up in the morning and I’m happy of what I’m doing. There is a few more years, I think, for me. Hopefully, you know, with a title contender in the future.” Alonso has taken home a trophy at every race so far this season Given Aston Martin’s aforementioned surge up the order in 2023, Alonso ended his F1 podium drought with a run of successive rostrums at the opening three rounds of the season in Bahrain, Saudi Arabia and Australia. With his last race win coming at Ferrari back in 2013 and his two titles being logged at Renault in 2005 and 2006, does he believe that a third crown could finally be on the way in his new surroundings? READ MORE: Krack says Aston’s dream start to 2023 ‘not enough’ for Lawrence Stroll’s ambitions “Well, that’s the aim, for sure,” he said. “But I think at the moment we have to keep the feet on the ground. The aim for the team is just to have a good season. They [were] struggling a lot in 2022, so I think we have to, let’s say, walk before [we] run. “I think this 2023 campaign is just about getting better, getting to know the car better, start a new project from day one, and that’s where we are at the moment. “Hopefully we have more podiums, hopefully we fight for race wins, but I think to fight for the championship, we need to set the team a little bit before doing that.” This feature is currently not available because you need to provide consent to functional cookies. Please update your cookie preferences 2023 Bahrain Grand Prix: The key moves that saw Alonso race to a podium finish on Aston Martin debut Pushed on whether he still believes in his chances of becoming a three-time champion, Alonso added: “Always I believe it’s possible, that’s why I keep racing. “Obviously, you know the challenge is big, you know that you need to overcome some difficulties, some top teams that are now on top of the sport, but I race every day and I train every day thinking that the third title is possible.” READ MORE: Aston Martin hit the track at Silverstone as reserve driver Drugovich gathers more F1 mileage Alonso added that while his ambitions stretch beyond a third title, he knows he is unlikely to get close to the record of seven currently held by Lewis Hamilton and Michael Schumacher. “I think when you race for many years, obviously you start breaking records, but I think the only thing that matters is to win and to break the record of championships,” he commented. “At the moment that’s probably unreachable, because seven of Michael and seven of Hamilton are out of, you know, the possibility, but that will be the aim ultimately.” via Formula 1 News https://www.formula1.com

The Best Fania Records Soul Songs
Fania Records, the Motown of Latin music, was a New York based record label founded in 1964 by Dominican-born composer, flutist and bandleader Johnny Pacheco and Italian-American lawyer Jerry Masucci who fell in love with Latin music during a brief stay in Cuba in the early 60’s. The label took its name from an old Cuban song by the singer Reinaldo Bolaño.
Fania Records is known for its promotion of Salsa music, but the Fania sound also blurs the line between Latin music and Soul music and some of the Fania artists would mix the Latin style with Funk, Disco, Soul and Jazz.

BREEZIN GEORGE BENSON YOUTUBE CRACK
Listen to I Hear You Knocking or Memphis, Tennessee to hear a jazzman’s take on the fathers of rock. Here, George returns to his early influences with versions of Fats Domino, Chuck Berry and others. Produced by Quincy Jones, Give Me the Night won three Grammys and dropped another hit with its title track that scored in discos worldwide.īenson sailed on to great heights before things wound down a bit in the 21st century, His tribute to Nat King Cole in 2013 was a natural fit for the crooner in him, but our final pick here is 2019’s Walking to New Orleans. This Masquerade, composed by Bobby Womack and Leon Russell, brings Benson’s vocals upfront, helping to push the LP to triple platinum and a Grammy nomination for album of the year. He rolls out cool melodies and fast, fluent licks with a bright and clear sound. With Breezin’, George Benson hits his instrumental stride. With the aid of producer Creed Taylor and an orchestra in the tradition of Montgomery, George spins on the Fab Four alongside the likes of Herbie Hancock, Bob James, Ron Carter, Freddie Hubbard and Ray Barretto. Check out the take of Donny Hathaway and Gene McDaniels’ evocative When Love Has Grown.Ī few years after Wes Montgomery’s A Day in the Life, Benson followed with his own interpretation of The Beatles songbook. The title track says it all, a physical romp showing off Benson’s soul-jazz stylings in a funky setting with an all-star backup band, including the introduction of Earl Klugh on second guitar. By 1973, Body Talk shone the spotlight onto this still emerging talent in six lingering cuts. George Benson began his recording career in 1964. But if you’re looking for an entry into his repertoire, these are five fine examples of Benson’s exemplary ability to cultivate crossover appeal while still honouring the spirit of jazz. With a career as vast and deep as George Benson’s, narrowing it down to five essential recordings is just scratching the surface. Word of this virtuosity spread, and soon he was offered the chance to record. Benson’s own path to fame involved gruelling nights on the road away from his hometown of Pittsburgh. This chestnut almost ran the brilliant career of guitarist and vocalist George Benson into the ground once the backlash of all. Each took their blues-infused jazz to sophisticated new heights. There’s a direct line from Charlie Christian through Wes Montgomery to George Benson. Pictures from his youth show George Benson holding the instrument like a lad who was born to play. It was then that two love affairs were born: Tom Collier became George’s stepfather and first musical mentor, and young George Benson fell hard for the guitar. Originally recorded by singer-songwriter Leon Russell, This Masquerade comes from George Benson’s 1976 album Breezin’, which was a major critical and commercial success for the guitarist.Benson’s firs ever single, the song would eventually reach as high as No. As soon as the man left the room, George ran to the instrument. One day, a man came calling and told George not to touch the guitar he’d brought to serenade the boy’s mother. Growing up with a single mother, the young George knew he loved music but couldn’t warm up to the old piano in their living room. Looking back to his earliest days, Benson seemed destined for greatness as a child prodigy. George Benson first made it to the top of the pops in the 1970s, scoring multiplatinum with his smooth singing and superb musicianship. By Danny Marks George Benson Austin Hargrave These five albums show his exemplary ability to cultivate crossover appeal while still honouring the spirit of jazz. In the greater scheme of Benson's career, Breezin' is really not so much a breakthrough as it is a transition album the guitar is still the core of his identity.George Benson was born to play the guitar. The attractive title track also became a minor hit single, although Gabor Szabo's 1971 recording with composer Bobby Womack is even more fetching. Yet it is the sole vocal track (his first in many years), Leon Russell's "This Masquerade" - where George unveiled his new trademark, scatting along with a single-string guitar solo - that reached number ten on the pop singles chart and drove the album all the way to number one on the pop (!) LP chart.
BREEZIN GEORGE BENSON YOUTUBE CRACK
Most of Breezin' is a softer-focused variation of Benson's R&B/jazz-flavored CTI work, his guitar as assured and fluid as ever with Claus Ogerman providing the suave orchestral backdrops and his crack then-working band (including Ronnie Foster on keyboards and sparkplug Phil Upchurch on rhythm guitar) pumping up the funk element. All of a sudden, George Benson became a pop superstar with this album, thanks to its least representative track.
