Est-ce une chose si infime que d'avoir vécu la lumière du printemps, d'avoir aimé, d'avoir pensé, d'avoir agi, d'avoir servi de véritables amis? Non, ça ne l'est pas.

One of the few examples where the movie is better than the book

Okay, okay, okay. The Guernsey Literary and Potato Peel Pie Society. The movie: stunning. The book: unbelievably better. So I watched the movie first—I know, cardinal sin—but I honestly enjoyed the book more because I had already seen the film. Sort of like reading a detailed plot summary before you watch a play or musical. I knew what was going on already, so I could focus more on the details than the plot. My read felt like a reread in terms of what I picked up, but had all the excitement of a first read-through! I also grew to appreciate the discrepancies between the book and the movie. Maybe I need to rethink this 'book before movie' policy... Also, also, also. It’s an epistolary novel! One of the coolest literary formats of all time. And the soundtrack is gorgeous.
TL;DR One experience enhances the other, so watch the movie and read the book in whatever order you want and rewatch and reread liberally.
