CONFESSION:

I once had a spinning instructor play the lower level Afterlife music on a loop for the entire class. It was one of the most grueling classes I ever experienced and there was a moment I actually pictured Shepard using a bike on the Citadel and leading a class.

Omega

Built in the mined-out husk of a metallic asteroid, Omega has been a haven for criminals, terrorists, and malcontents for thousands of years. At times, the station has lain idle and abandoned for centuries, only to be reactivated by a new group of outlaws seeking a fresh start. The space station's original elegant design has given way to haphazard expansion by scrabbling factions of every species. There is no central government or unifying authority on Omega, and nobody can recall a time there ever was one.

“Can I use your mouth to wipe it off?” The 'cute, smug' look is only amplified by the mischievous glint in the Commander's eyes. She’s leaning over from the co-pilot seat, closer to her helmsman, one hand holding onto the seat to hold her up while the other hand is occupied with a bottle of wine. Asari in make and procured from Illium, Liara had acquired it for Shepard, seeming to have remembered the passing comment she had made about not finding a good drink since she woke up. Suffice to say, Liara knew exactly what Blair needed.

Climbing over the seat, taking care not to tip over the open bottle and lose its contents, there’s little apprehension as Shepard positions herself to hover over Joker. “Come on, Jeff… this isn’t an Alliance vessel. No one’s going to say anything if you have a sip or two. EDI can take control while we’re in transit to the relay. You deserve to take a little break.” Shepard’s voice lowers, her position shifting as she seeks to reduce the space between the two of them. Her free hand presses against the side of his chair’s headrest, only inches away from his face, as she brings one of her legs to straddle him.

Whatever was on his screens behind her, he’d have to leave to EDI.

Unable to keep her hands in one place for long, Blair’s unoccupied hand shifts to rest against his chest, palm pressing against his torso only just enough to feel his heartbeat beneath his uniform. Her gaze demanded his, keeping eye contact maintained as she brings the bottle to her lips once more, imbibing in, per her words, “the strongest asari wine Liara could find in the Terminus Systems.” The lights from his displays behind her leave her silhouette haloed in an amber glow as she continues to obstruct his view, her shadow-casting figure the only thing she wants Joker to focus on.

As lawless and dirty as Omega is, I do like the look and feel of it. It has that old, rustic but futuristic space station feel to it. It's made out of an asteroid! You couldn't design a cooler station that Omega!

Even after all these years when my Shepard enters the Afterlife on Omega, I always groove to that music. And after all these years it still sounds great.
