You switched and danced with many men, after all this was how this dance circle worked. Dance and switch and repeat. People danced in sync, moving around in a circle as they do. But the middle mostly remained empty. The middle of the dance floor was usually reserved for when a couple planned to dance to a song with their partner until it finished, finally changing partner once the song change anew.

You changed partners again, smiling and nodding at your previous partner as you moved to grab another pair of hands. But this one, you instantly realized, was shorter and too inexperienced in dancing. His foot stepped on yours, his hold was wrong and his other hand clumsily on your hip. You looked at him and noticed he wasn't even in proper attire. There stood a boy no less than 20 wearing a straw hat and donning the biggest grin ever.

"I dunno what's going on but everyone's happy and dancing so I wanna join!" He said as he stepped on your foot again, barely keeping his balance right. You sighed, but a smile was on your lips. Your hand that was originally on his upper arm moved to guide his hand to place it on your upper arm, while you placed yours on his shoulder blade. "It's your first time dancing like this, right?"

He nodded with a huge grin, watching you adjusting his grasp on your hand. "I'll lead and you follow. What do you say about making this the best dance everyone's ever seen?" You said as you looked into his eyes. It's been too long since you've lead someone inexperienced, but that's your best forte anyway. He shrugged, "Sure!"

The moment you moved from merely swaying, he was starting to step on your foot less and soon stopped. The nervous gripping of his hand relaxed and the hand resting on your upper arm wasn't tensed anymore. From there you began with simple footwork. It was a little hard to do with how far he was being, but your plan was to bring him in little by little by easing him into the dance.

Maybe because he was shorter than and occasionally looking at where your feet goes, but this boy was easier to lead than the men you've had the pleasure of leading. You smiled larger, relishing on the joy of leading and the fluidity of how this boy managed to follow your every step.

Luffy wasn't one to dance, he knew he's bad at it. But when he saw the amount of people moving in sync and dancing so beautifully, he wanted to join in. But the people didn't look at him, only looking at their partners and never elsewhere. Until this lady roped him in.

He wasn't even sure if the lady realized, but he wasn't one to complain. When she took his hand in his and laid a gentle hand on his arm, he copied what other people did. The lady looked at him surprised, but he grinned at her. He was happy that he got the chance to even dance at all.

The lady said something about leading and him following, but he didn't understand. Maybe he was too happy, because he barely registered the change in his hold and the hand that wasn't on her hip anymore. He simply followed, letting her move him however she wanted.

"They're changing partners, what do you want to do, boy?" The lady asked and he brought his gaze up to her. He quickly shook his head, feeling a little sad. "I still wanna dance with you!" He protested as a pout made its way onto his lips. The lady nodded with an understanding smile. He was happy again, and this time he noticed the change in movements. She was taking long and quick steps, swaying and avoiding dancing couples with ease and grace until they emerged to an opening.

Light shone brightly at them the second they stepped into the opening and if it wasn't for the assuring squeeze of the lady's hand, Luffy would've went on a flight or fight mode. "We're at the center, and when it's the center, you have to show off." The lady spoke. "Will you follow me?"

Luffy eagerly nodded and immediately after, the lady dipped down with a hand securely at his back. Adrenaline ran through his veins the second it happened as he laughed heartily, the lady bringing him back up and dancing once more with a smile of her own. Her steps were large and unrestrained, different from when they were in the crowd and somehow it felt easier for him to follow her moves now that he didn't have to worry about hitting other dancers.

The audience on the second floor watched them with a special kind of attraction. It was clear to them that the boy has little experience in dancing, but by how the lady swerved him this way and that and even dipped her partner and doing routines, they simply had to overlook it. This couple was a strange mix of expertise and naivety but it blended well with each other. The second they were on the dance floor they already had cameras up for pictures. After all, no couples were daring enough to dance in the spotlight with someone they don't know that well.

The song came to an end and so did Luffy and the lady. She released him gently from her hold and took a few steps back to bow. Luffy followed suit, influenced in a way that if she were to do something, he might just do the same thing too. So when she went back to the crowd, he did too. Except instead of finding another partner, he went back to his waiting crew, giddily laughing on the way.

Rewatching voltron

I’m only on season one and- I want to filter my thoughts I guess

Okay so full disclosure-

I forgot most of Voltron and I wanted to watch it again just to see where it went wrong + maybe rewrite it. Most of this list is grievances and high praises. But yknow- it’s fun for me.

Hunk deserves better

I distinctly remember from the end of voltron that hunk didn’t have alot of moments to shine. I’m only in episode 5 as of writing this point and I see SO MUCH PROMISE. He’s a great middle man, he’s loyal as hell, and he’s so smart! The following seasons are gonna be painful for me I know it.

“You have a better idea?” / “Actually yes I do.”

The “we make a good team” line + TW: Klance in general

Holy shit us Klance shippers were sooooo desperate. Like- my god. We fucking ran with that shit to the universe and back god damn. And it all started from that one line. I don’t know if I should be proud or disappointed my god.

Since we’re talking about this ship- there are a lot of missed opportunities for Keith and Lance’s dynamic and individual character. Like, I think, we all forget that Lance was the person who came up with the plan, when him and Keith were supposed to sabotage the galra forces at Balmera (living mining planet). Lance was actively aware of the planets saltines and he stopped kids from acting on his impulses, resulting in them (initially) covertly deactivating  the hanger so they can prevent further reinforcements.

I also don’t like how the scene introduces Keith’s heritage. I understand that this is a set up for a greater plot point and we’re not really supposed to know how Keith activates galra tech but- fuck I need to go on a tangent in the later seasons if I go along with this series of blog posts, I guess

Speaking of, Pidge is giving 14-16, Hunk, Lance, Keith and Allura are giving 17 to 18, Shiro is giving 18-25, and Coran is at a good 34-40 not including the 10000 year long freeze Allura and Coran went through

The lions are their own characters

I really like the idea of the lions being specific with who they allow in as their pilots. However, I wish that the selectiveness was a longer process. And key situation it was a life or death one. It felt like the redline had to actively choose, whether or not to save him from the deep vacuum of space. Meanwhile, for pitch it was just oh hop in and get going you know. Same with Shiro I get that he unlocked the synchronicity of the lien and pilot relationship immediately, but it feels too give in.

Piggybacking off of that I don’t like that Alura basically assigns the paladins Hogwarts houses as soon as she sees them. I think that’s bullshit. I got that she grew up with the lions and was born shortly after their creation but still. 

I also like how during battle of the lines actively recommend which strategies and weapons, the pilot should use, and which ones they refused to go along with

Also- element powers?? I miss those

Idk the yellow goo before being refined into quintessence having healing properties- WHY WAS THAT FORGOTTEN??? That could’ve been huge! Even if it only applies to galuras

The Black Lion (the episode not the actual mech)
