I DONT WRITE GOOD ROMANCE BUT LIKE UGH IMAGINE IT NOW. Alastor definitely just got himself to the V’s tower and was planning on fucking with Vox only to see he had already been kinda pissed off. Alastor wouldn’t be as satisfied if he knew he didn’t cause the frustration. He realized he could just stir the pot again. Problem solved, and what better way to solve it than using his weakness against him.. being tickled.

I’m being a little silly but genuinely Vox is so ticklish. Like most ticklish person in hell would go to him if it were an official title. That’s what I’m thinking. That being said, Alastor also knows how quickly he could get him to crumble… but wouldn’t it be more fun to take it slow.

Vox notices his presence almost immediately. He tried to ignore it as he feels his face get warm. He can’t fuck this up. He takes a deep breath and turns around. “Why hello, Alastor! What brings you to our building this evening?” He said in a semi newcaster voice. He wasn’t ready to drop the act

“Well Vox, I came here for a reason of my own but then I walked by your office and you looked so sad!” He began to walk closer to Vox. “You know, t they say you’re never fully dressed without a smile!”

Vox let out a laugh that was quite clearly untruthful. “Yes Alastor I am aware! I was alone in here and so I figured I’d just save up some energy. I’m sure you understand.”

“Quite frankly I don’t,” Alastor paused, “I think maybe I could help you get that smile back.”

Vox didn’t even have to think. He knew Alastor meant he was going to tickle him. You could ask Velvette. She’s seen those two in tickle fights that lasted for DAYS. she knows what they’re capable of, or more so what Alastor is capable of.

Vox puts up a fight for maybe a couple seconds but he just loves tickles more than he can play pretend that he doesn’t <3

It works out well for them both, Alastor gets to fuck around with Vox and well, Vox gets his shit rocked!!! And he loves that more than a lot of things.

Tips on how to write Curly,Tim, and Angela Shepard??

BUT, here r some important characteristics for their characters i think could help for writing em!! ill try to focus on things that r like, skimmed passed??? in fics??idk how to explain it

tim

-tim is a cool and collected guy, at most hes scarily calm!!! he has a good head on his shoulders and hes not ignorant to the problems in his life, and almost nothing gets past him, he knows whats wrong w his family and is very observant of it, unlike angela and curly. when it comes to tim, make sure things like his inner monologue and his movements is pretty composed and self controlled. when he thinks, he doesnt think half way, hes an analyzer and he dissects the world around him and tries seeing it for what it truly is, he doesnt let his emotions control him.

-he will always, ALWAYS, have his guard up!! even if its w small things like glancing around, always having back up plans, asking questions about before he even hangs out w em, etc etc, he can never be too sure, and he LIKES being informed, it bothers him so much if hes not, so hes always looking out. on top of that, on a regular ass day, i dont think hes OBVIOUSLY protective of angela and curly, he knows how they get when they feel cornered so he kinda???lets them do whatever???? tim being protective comes off as someone whos more annoyed than anything, other than someone who loves their family

for example he says things like: “i already said no, stop asking”, “didnt i tell u to bring ur blade with u”, things like that!!

-and finally, i think the only way u could actually get tim to b emotional, is if something happened to angela or curly. theyre literally his life lines, if it wasnt for them, he wouldve booked it half way across the country already. tim would be way more hostile and aggressive, its like hes coming apart, but thats rlly only when hes alone, out in public hes still pretty stoic but still agitated a bit more easily. everything he does at the end of the day is for them and while it may not seem like it, hes always thinking of them.

ps: hes quite honestly a lone wolf, he doesnt rlly have friends, ppl he hangs out w, ofc but friends??? eh, hes perfectly fine w being left alone w his own life, but thrives off of being around ppl bc he can use them to his advantage to further himself, but i dont say that in a “mwahahahah hes so manipulative and stone cold hearted😈” way

basically: for writing tim, make sure hes always coming off as a leader, hes always gonna have leadership qualities in whatever he does, so even the small things he does is important, it doesnt matter hiw small u think it is, if u feel like it shows his character, just add it in there. tim does have his limits, and its always gonna b curly and angela. kinda like darry, how he shows how he cares is just different and not understood, however for tim its to a higher degree.

NOW FOR CURLY☝🏽☝🏽

-im not gonna sit here n say that hes book smart, bc generally speaking, hes not, and this may b a bit controversial, but i dont think hes 100% street smart either!!! BUT hes not completely DUMB. while yes, hes not particularly smart in one aspect, hes not CLUELESS, he can grasp complex things and knows what to do, just not everything. ppl undermine him and overplay his stupidity so theyre surprised when he shows that he can b smart, and thats if they DO even realize that, its small when he shows hes smart, but he can have his moments, pls dont write curly as completely incompetent</333

for example: maybe tims trying to come up w a plan and bc curly knows the schedule of these ppl, hes actually a big help, but ppl just dont pay attention to how important that part of the plan was so they dont realize it, maybe ponys ranting to curly about something, and curly got pony to see another side of it he never rlly thought of before, but bc of how he said it, it doesnt “come off as intelligent” but it rlly is!!! i hope this made sense😭

-part of the reason of why he acts out is bc he looks up to tim, but hes not seen as smart like tim OR angela is, hes constantly compared to them both and while he loves being a shepard and loves his siblings, he wants to b seen as his own person and make something of himself!!! this however, can get him into trouble bc hes desperate to prove himself, to who??? to himself, to tim, and to a degree everyone else. im not gonna say curlys “all bark, no bite” bc he isnt, but he can definitely talk more than what he can rlly deliver and that gets him into shit as well and also thats what causes ppl to play up his stupidity. curly is pretty misunderstood and pushed to the side!!!

-i would say that curly being around others is important to write bc i feel like thats when he truly flourishes as a character. hes way more energized and pumped up, so when u write about curly around friends or whoever hes close to, make sure hes more relaxed, boisterous, and adventurous. however, when hes upset, id say hes sorta like tim, his eyes r the same, bit more analytical, and he uses the ppl around him. becomes less of a friend, more like a leader, hes not all buddy buddy, and if they try to joke around w him while hes mad, he pushes them away, tells them to shut up, its like a complete 180.

-if u wanna write about curly going through something, i feel like its important to realize that hes in denial about the problems in his life, not ignorant about it, its pretty in his face, its not like he cant say its not there, but hes just like “yea its bad, but its not THAT bad, i could push through it”, i think thats his way of coping w everything around him, but when hes pushed far enough and forced to come to terms w it, he does some irrational things to cope and turns to drinking

and last but definitely not least, my main girl angela

-she NEEDS to b around ppl, she THRIVES off of the attention of others and if she doesnt get it, shes on edge, she rlly doesnt like being left alone w her thoughts and needs something to distract her. and just like how curly and her r tims life lines, same could b said for curly and tim w angela. she needs her brothers as her support, and if they arent there, she tries to find it in other people, even if its only for a few weeks. bc of this, when it comes to this part of her character, in writing, id say that if u rlly want to make angela go through it, but for her problem to b solved, she goes to either tim or curly, BUT if u want to show that shes really desperate to b heard out, and she feels trapped in a corner, she tries to find comfort in someone else, usually through a romantic relationship. id say that it perfectly shows that for angela, her family means everything to her and she goes to them, BECAUSE she knows they have her back, but when she goes to try and find comfort in other ppl, it doesnt rlly work out or doesnt change, so shes just reminded that “at the end of the day, all u have us ur family and nobody else, ever”, which is a huge thing in her mind as thats just how shes grown up

•now, im sure we all see the shepards as poc, and considering this is the 60s (or 70s or whatever time period it rlly doesnt even matter, poc have never rlly been respected), i think to a degree, angela is sexualized, but its also a way she protects herself. i dont think angela is respected and thats for a multitude of reasons, its bc shes a woman, shes a shepard, and shes a poc, cards r pretty stacked against her. BUT, shes not clueless☝🏽, tim taught her from a young age about the world around her, bc he NEEDED to, its to SAVE her from getting taken advantage of. so to protect herself, she uses the things stacked against her, against em, she knows how hard it is to fight it, so why fight it when u can use it to help u is the way she sees it. and her being sexualized is just one of those things. angela in town is seen as “the forbidden fruit” ig u could say and she knows about it, so she uses the way how ppl see her as an object to use them as her puppet. they dont think shes aware so they dont rlly suspect much from her, hell, they dont even think she can fight, and theyre wrong w that. they just see her as an “easy” girl and if thats what they think, so be it, she’ll fuck w em one day, thats just her survival tactic and how she can survive. as far as this one goes, id say that its important to understand how the ppl around her interact w/see her, as that can help u understand what her next course of action will b, she NEEDS people in order to further herself, shes like tim in that aspect. however it will also somewhat impact how she sees herself, at the end of the day, shes still vulnerable but she doesnt let on, shes spent such a long time trying to cultivate how she wants ppl to see her and she doesnt want that ruined, she’ll do anything to keep that intact, ESPECIALLY lying. so if u want to write her coming loose emotionally, dont add small hints of it when shes in front of other ppl, MAYBE only when shes in front of tim or curly u can do that, if u wanted. in front of other ppl, she hardens up and comes off a little more smarter than she lets off, so she CAN b scary, and thats when ppl remember that shes a shepard. shes too grown for her own good but she just wants control in her life.

-speaking of her life, like curly, shes in denial about the things in her life, but its more so about how they impact HER. she knows their life is completely fucked, she knows how bad it is, but she just says it just doesnt hurt her as much, and to a degree, shes right, but then again, some days r harder for her than others, so while yes, shes vulnerable, this doesnt mean that she cant handle what tim and curly go through, shes not fragile, and i think thats important to remember, shes tough!!!she has to b, she will bite back if she has to. dont JUST write her in high school dramas, she has to deal w some of the gang issues curly goes through, while not AS much, its still there

-ANNDDDD FINALLLYYY, when it comes to angela, while yes, she is analytical, but she can let emotions drive her sometimes, and thats potentially her downfall, shes a pretty impatient person, so when she wants results, she wants it FAST, and it agitates her deeply if things dont go her way, some leadership qualities from tim rubbed off on her, she acts more like tim while curly looks more like him. when it comes to her inner dialogue, u should have a comfortable mix of her being observant and her having a bitttt confident and self assured, let her b a lil cocky!!!

i wanted to kinda talk about my opinion on some things related to Ana Huang and the romance genre in general- sorry for the rant!!!

finished king of sloth by ana huang and urgrhrgrhrhrh i actually really really enjoyed it!!!! (i say that ab everything i read tho tbh, i've just never been the type who criticizes the media i consume so PLEASE don't ever base ur opinions off of mine :)

my post isn't about the book specifically or even the author. i lowkey have a bone to pick and its NOT with ana huang or the book but moreso the reaction i've been noticing about the book (specifically from people who have been making fun of it and/or people who read it)! this isn't meant to start discourse or anything but i am open to polite discussion about some of the points im bringing up. this is generally focused around ana huang but also a lot of majority-feminine centric media has this same problem.

anyways, i'm gonna try to express how i feel as best i can without being rude or offensive ajshsjs-

it just lowkey irks me that sm people have been hating on ana huang now that she's getting attention, and since she's a romance writer, her fans and fanbase is mostly women and/or girls, (which is totally ok)!! however, i genuinely feel like this is just another barbie movie or sarah j mass or taylor swift scenario where the second something/someone that a lot of woman like starts to get publicity, people (mostly men) start excessively hating on it.

i have genuinely seen sm people dissing not only ana huang but her writing as well. now i don't know much about her as a person and i know that a lot of people are flawed so if she's genuinely done something wrong PLEASE lmk, i don't keep up w that stuff. and hey, maybe you just didn't like the book and thats ok too!!! its totally valid to not like something, but to make fun of an author and the people who enjoy her content just seems.. ehh.

a lot and i mean a LOT of people claim that she's only popular because of her smut but i actually enjoy her books more than just for the smutty/romance aspect. maybe that's just me, but i genuinely find it interesting and a lot of other people i know also enjoy it for the plot. and if u are reading for the smut that's ok as well, this is a totally safe space, and nobody should judge u on your reasons to read a book. the books are INTENDED to be fluffy and spicy and overall are just fictional romantic stories. they're smutty, funny books, not the bible. it shocks me how much people make fun of them.

i just keep seeing this trend of people negatively nitpicking anything and everything about authors and their writing ESPECIALLY when its romance and it just rubs me the wrong way. ive seen a LOT of people upset about huang including cameo's of her other characters in her latest book, and if you don't like those other characters so much then why... are u reading it??? THAT SOUNDS SO MEAN IM SORRY but its just so strange that people are upset about her including her own characters from her own series'?

its just disappointing that whenever someone or something becomes popular, there are always people who are just trying to be negative and diss it along with the people who enjoy it. i'm NOT making this post to be rude or offensive to people who genuinely don't like the author or the series, ur absolutely entitled to ur own opinion!!! however i have just seen this link SO MANY TIMES of people suddenly disliking something/someone bc a lot of woman seem to enjoy it and it just makes me a bit sad and disappointed.

Imo the new PJO shows greatest strength is definitely Riordon’s craft maturing since the lightning thief in terms of…. Thematic coherence?

I think PJO has always been fairly thematically coherent & impactful in its messaging but especially at first the books feels much more like fairly lighthearted action adventure road trip narratives that are extremely episodic and more focused on being entertaining than having something To Say. Which, they’re books for middle schoolers, I think an “adventure road trip with some unserious monster slaying” is a perfectly serviceable concept and in execution riordan is admirably gifted in that his writing can be entertaining for both the primary demographic kids but also adults.

But they’re not books that just suddenly decided to half-heartedly have a theme (unlike other kids fantasy from the period I don’t dare namedrop lmao), because of all the foreshadowing and the motivations behind the antagonists (one antagonist in particular), it’s clear he probably had a thematic direction for the series, even if I don’t know how planned the initial 5 book run was. I really do admire what the book has to say abt bad systems that are set up to leave certain folks behind, and what parents owe to their children, & abt how easy it is to fall for charismatic leaders promising for a return to glorious prelapsarian past instead of trying to provide real solutions.

In the series, what I’ve really been enjoying is how every interaction and monster doesn’t just feel episodic, each monster feels like a facet that is part of the central thesis regarding the gods & their relationship to their children. I think the writing strength does a lot of heavy lifting because while overall I think the show is pretty solid, I do have a few critiques.

Mainly one of the frustrating things probably has something to do with budgeting. Scenes that are very thrilling and action driven in the book are truncated & often replaced with a lot of kinda slow oddly paced walk-&-talk scenes. Probably bc that’s much cheaper to shoot. Riordan himself seems to be fairly transparent about the changes he’s made in adaptation due to those limitations.

The effects for tv show cgi are not perfect but pretty impressive (I’ll reiterate, for tv cgi, the bar is on the floor….) but there’s a weird emptiness or sterile quality that makes the world feel not so lived in. Idk I think this was the most apparent to me in the casino episode, which I know riordan hates the movie & we joke abt the poker face scene but I was honestly kinda bewildered at how lifeless and boring they made the intentionally enticing distraction of the lotus casino seem. I get there can’t be gambling, but maybe an arcade? A buffet? Something?

I sound like I’m really going in on the show but I’m really not, I’ve been really enjoying the adaptation so far. The flaws are not show-ruining but I do think they culminate in a result that struggles w pacing & lacks the propulsive energetic quality of the books. Which, adaptations can be different, but to me that quality was always a strength of the series that imo I would’ve prioritized in adaptation. What saves some of the problems for me is that even tho a lot content is kinda delivered in this weird inert way of the actors doing their best to bring life to scenes where people are standing around stiffly and exchanging dialogue, the content itself is really good. His knowledge of his own characters & their dynamics, their desires, their place in the narrative, is so clear. The emphasis placed on Sally Jackson in particular & her influence on Percy & his values is a great additive element to the show. Again, the thematic coherence that has evolved since the lightning thief is in full display. For example, before last nights episode, I was actually saying to my mom that I hoped they would cut the procrustes water bed scene bc that chapter always felt weirdly fillery and goofy in its tone, but it was integrated in such an organic way that I really liked it!

I’ve been saying for like a decade that I thought PJO’s monster of the week episodic structure would make a better show than movie, and like. All im saying is that being apollo cursed with the gift of prophecy isn’t always a bad thing

Haha, I also hope this is somewhat coherent, but I am very bad at assembling my thoughts into something that resembles a narative, but here are some thoughts that has been carouseling my mind:

Recently, I have been thinking abou beyblade fantasy AU's: A grant adventure, a world fractured into many fighting factions (some human, some elven, some with magic powers and so on), soon to be overshadowed by The Great Dark Lord Nemesis™️

The legendary bladers are propheciesed to save the world, and as of now most of them traveling together on some great mission to raise an army to defeat Nemesis or smth (everyone except Ryuga? Have a very hard time imagining him going anywhere with anyone). However the legendary bladers are NOT a cohesive unit, they are from different factions and have a hard time trusting each other 😔 </3

Along with this, I've been thinking a lot about armor: how to make it functional and actually protective, while still evoking the feel of the bladers original outfit... (ok actually I've mostly I have been thinking about how to make armor, that looks like a crop top with a big billowy coat for Kyoya, but at the same time actually protect his vital organs)

My solution for now is probably layering some chain mail under some cut up shirts, but then I ran into my second problem: that much armor is heavy, noisy and warm (since you'd also need layers beneath the chain mail), would an adventurer even wear that much armor on a day to day basis?... So now I am trying to come with a way to balance that out... (Actually after writing it down tho, Kyoya specifically would absolutely see wearing heavy armor as a great training exercise...)

Also bc Kyoya gets special treatment as my favorite character, and I think he could use more "great-destiny-I-didn't-pick-and-thus-don't-want" issues: Mayhap his mother is the heiress to one faction, but she was driven away by an usurper, who is now out to kill her and her descendents? (No scars from *accidently* falling windows in this AU)... (Also maybe the usurper is paying Chris to take care of her descendents?)

fantasy au my beloved!! the idea of the legendary bladers roaming around the lands and trying to rally an army while constantly bickering with each other is so funny. i have to agree that ryuga probably wouldn't travel with them but! imagine the kenta & ryuga interactions in this scenario :(( kenta tries to learn magic from ryuga who is so so good at it but unwilling (and without the patience lbh) to teach. kenta just stares at him really hard and tries to learn by observing ryuga do impossible feats of magic. ryuga acts annoyed but he also loves the attention lol

plsss kyoya in fantasy armor is simply amazing and badass. id love to see it. i know its impractical but i do imagine him in a chainmail crop top or something similarly unnecessary but stylish. anything for the glam. could also imagine some kind of corset top-like leather armor? i think leather armor would be the go-to for adventurers anyway.

Hi Cross (and Roxie)!! Sorry for the late ass response lmao- y'know how it goes, but I've gotten to it now.

I personally have conflicting thoughts on plural Vanny/Vanessa. Thing is, I think Vanessa is in the position to have formed a system given how she describes her childhood. I think that her being plural prior to the “vannification” as I call it is a good start, but ultimately my big concern- and one I do have while writing Vanny- is that when it simulates or is a mental illness, it pins those symptoms as dangerous or causing violence. That being said, I also feel that there are good ways about it.

Her being an actual system and not becoming one because of Glitchtrap helps. One mistake a lot of people make is making Glitchtrap almost.. "give" her DID.

As for how I think it would work best, I would say something probably akin to my own writing of Vanny, which isn’t me boasting, just that that’s how I think Vanny works best. Basically, I would say that maybe not just one headmate gets manipulated but the whole system, and Vanny is a headmate that split/formed to cope with their situation through a complete and total disconnect from and desensitization to what they’re being made to do. I think that the idea of Vanny being just an “evil alter ego” is a problem for me, and this interpretation (as well as my own writing of her- V.A.N.N.Y- where the V.A.N.N.Y. mask serves as a manufactured persona that serves the purpose of letting Valerie pretend that she’s not herself so she can cope with the fact that she feels she has no choice but to do this) kind of clears that up for me. Bc ultimately alters are people too and portraying them as just the evil ones rubs me the wrong way. So instead of Vanny just being the evil alter ego that people usually write her as when using the DID path, making her an actual alter who has a purpose that’s important to the system and stems from their situation is more realistic and respectful imo.

I think that system!Ness & Vanny would see Vanny being most like a secondary host, fronting to handle the things that Glitchtrap is making them do to provide Vanessa and the others with a mental barrier that allows them to cope with it, with Vanny herself being formed to be detached and apathetic so she can get the job done. Having Vanny as a headmate then be still sympathetic, still redeemable and still a victim of that same abuse clears up a lot of the problems imo, and doesn't paint Ness being a system as the reason for the murders.

That's the route I personally would go- Vanessa is plural prior and Vanny is split thanks to Glitchtrap's abuse to cope. As for the other ones you suggested, I'll run thru my thoughts on those fast too bc genuinely I love plural characters and this concept does have a lot of potential.

Vanessa is plural prior and a headmate is manipulated by Glitchtrap- not too unlike "Vanny splits thanks to Glitchtrap". Has similar potential to me. Vanny is an alter who maybe handles that kind of situation thanks to their dad, which unfortunately places her in Glitchtrap's way. Very cool. Also keeps Vanny feeling realistic and sympathetic.

Vanny is her headmate post-sb- could go either way. I think that Vanny having kind of a slow redemption post-sb as she's released from Glitchtrap's hold and has to find her footing again is interesting, and Vanny being Vanessa's headmate could work for that.

Vanessa forms headmates post-sb- not realistic, however, I do like the idea. Again, it comes from my whole "Vanny is a persona made to distance Vanessa from her crimes" thing. That could form into an alter, if you consider her being "possessed" and how that might fuck with her mind long term. I like this. I really don't mind a bit of well meaning fantasy/sci-fi writing of systems, in fact I think they're fun!

Glitchtrap is her headmate- this is the one I have a problem with, akin to a simple "Vanny is Vanessa's evil serial killer alter". It makes the villain- the murderer- Vanessa's headmate, and by proxy the danger her plurality yk?

In general, I like the idea of well-meaning and informed system Vanessa interpretations, and Vanny being a headmate, but I get picky about the execution. I only like them if Vanny is treated as sympathetic or redeemable, since I think that minimizes the risk of "evil DID" narratives and treats them rather as survivors of abuse who've done really fucking wrong because of it.

once he 'recovered from his illness' he def tried to pretend it was nothing by being in particularly good spirits (supposedly) when she was around, and generally tryna play it cool, but i think he ~does hold her a touch more at arms length emotionally than he ever did before bc he doesn't wanna get hurt again, but he also can't resist being around her bc he still has feelings and, even if he didn't, she'd still be his bff and he will always love her etc and it's just...extremely complicated

anyway, idk how long ago the not!breakup happened? but that would def play a role in ~where he is now~ in this emotional journey, but i can say i do think that cassandra has made it at once better AND worse????? bc, like, its really nice to feel wanted after being rejected etc and he genuinely enjoys her company!!! but then he gets back from that and he kinda feels like a jerk bc he's lying to her and using her to help destroy her fam which is obv not a great (boy)friend move lakjdsfkjldsf but also like there's brigit right there and what is he doing messing around when the person he's always loved is right there and maybe he can still convince her they belong together, and, like, he just feels like hes cruising to get EVERYONE hurt and yeah its a M E S S and i feel like the result is that he just acts kinda...strange, like kinda running hot and cold and its all v emotionally confusing for everyone probably alksdjfkljdsjkf id say im sorry in advance but i know you're not even a little bit surprised me and my characters are out here causing chaos hahahaha

I was thinking about how things change and I find it kind of interesting but I remember around 2015 was when mainstream social media eg instagram started to become somewhat political (for the average user) and became a source of education additional to selfies.. I remember around that time being referred to as “woke” (to be fair my wokeness has likely majorly regressed over the past 6-8yrs as a result of hibernation) but when someone called you “woke” it was a positive term like I genuinely remember hearing people talk about how they wanted to be as “educated” and “woke” as me or admired me and wanted to be friends with me for this reason (as a 15yro LMAO) and it was only the “alternative” kids who dared present themselves as educated and woke online bc it wasn’t common knowledge to be politically and socially knowledgeable (at least where I grew up) and doing so was kind of like making a name for yourself.. whereas now I feel like it’s just expected of young people to be socially and politically educated to some extent.. and I mean it’s not hard, because public discourse on so many topics are EVERYWHERE... While I think education is great and we should all be more informed I can't help but wonder/almost assume that this change/progression of political social media (within the mainstream ofc bc I'm aware it always existed w good intent prior) has maybe spread cause of performative factors/people wanted to make that name for themselves..to the point it all kinda became a trend.. although people realised it was so real at the same time..so then its intentions became mixed and now it is just expected idek if this makes sense... but also what is even more strange is that the connotations of the term "woke" COMPLETELY changed from something admirable like "wow that person is really woke they seem cool"(something I commonly heard in 2015) to now something that's make a mockery of eg "lmao they acting woke" along w the whole go woke go broke saga (idk if that's just in aus or worldwide... aus seems to have a problem w performativity of any kind anyway despite the fact we are endlessly playing into our own character as Australians but that's another story).. anyway idk what the point of this was cause i started writing it on my phone but then my phone died and my charger broke so I swapped to my laptop and my adhd cant hold a single thought for a second if u literally cant tell.. but its crazy how things change.. I just feel like that was such a small time frame but then again I guess that's how my parents felt like there was no internet and all of a sudden there was and the entirety of western society revolves around it so i guess change is super duper normal and we all have the same experience of it despite thinking we are unique in our experiences..I'm not really mad about change at all.. I was reading that post about rewriting the cerberus side of things and it was interesting

i do think its silly how many missions are fighting cerberus forces bc a good chunk of those would have been more tense & improved if theyd been reaper ground forces instead But..

i like cerberus being an antagonistic force in 3.. i know it creates problems technically-wise and it leads to the ending being flatter & thinner and with less to chew on.. but i like it lmao.. if they’d genuinely offered cerberus as a faction you could ally with versus the council or whatever they should have kept them as is with the weird reaper tech experiments and evil lab shit ..

Tim makes a lot of sense to me as a guy who thinks he knows best for the galaxy and has the resources to throw his word around.. the parallel he runs w the player character as well as other major players (hackett, council, liara to an extent) has always been interesting to me

i really cannot speak about it fully as an able body person for sure

while i feel Johnnys whole complex issues with his disability is real as its can be for some people. But Araki, like most topics in SBR does NOT have the place or nuance to speak on these topics a lot of the time.

Johnny's writing on his disability is messy, i do think it being more about his self deprecation over a disability he had only within recent years gain in an act of his hubris coming back to get him. Him struggling with his own turmoil or the many ways his life changed and his ability to do everything the way he used to. Him having thoughts of wishing he was able to walk again. This isn't new in terms of writing a disabled character, this is the way many are written. But i think in terms of Johnnys character as a starting point it worked. Johnny character was like that before he was disabled. he's not one for moving forward emotionally without a push. He will wallow and be a sad sack shit head about whatever until he dies unless something comes along

Had his story insteed of just being miserable about being disabled and it a focus of his character and the end goal being that he can walk again and its kinda meant to be one of the only good things he gained from the end of the story. But instead been about his obsession with the spin and then later the corpse and believing it to be some magic cure all that would make him walk again. Thinking this was the path to making his life better if he could walk again. Then the story devolving into realizing this wasn't going to make him happy, and how far he'd come as he was and how his drive has led him to be able to do all the things he loved doing before his accident and choosing to wallow in his breaking point, and the way he'd become happier than he had been in so long because he was improving himself as a person. the person he'd become and grown into because of who he was then and there, and because of the connections in his life like Lucy and Gyro.

Johnny learning to love his body and grow into his new strengths and weakness. That his shitty feelings weren't all based in his inability to walk, but lots of other things that he let pile up in his heart. and stuff instead of a story where, "yay some magic corpse 'fixed' me/my problems"

like yeah again, maybe im not the best person to interperate the 'right' way to tell this story, or explain my full feelings on it. But i do feel that Johnnys whole character arc and story about his disability and goal to walk again could been handled better at the very least! idk, again. im sure theres gonna be a lot of different points to be had about Johnny's character in a lot of different ways ykno.

sorry the bit abt souls in kagepro drives me crazy. we dont know it with any other snakes other than awakening/konoha and haruka(and saeru but we dont talk abt it). the ending of mca is MESSY messy. personally i dont know if i Really understand it, I've always explained it to myself like konoha/awakening GETS ITS OWN wish bc despite being just a snake, it became its own person, and its wish is to have hiyori live which is how saeru "dies" bc it has to resign to be a surrogate life for hiyori right?? its never explained Why konoha gets a wish but that's it to me. awakening and retaining being opposites bc one is a snake that became a person and the other a person who became a snake.

anyways coming back to the soul thing, it's rly all in haruka and konoha's situation bc konoha becomes its own person, "gains a soul" lets say, and that very soul puts it in conditions of making a wish. haruka was the only one in the daze who wasn't PHYSICALLY there, and his wish never finished getting there bc awakening was like My body now. <- like this is so interesting there's a lot of potential to konoha being even more interesting, maybe being a snake that's always wanted its own body or something. i KNOW its bc haruka's personality wasn't strong for it but that's an ass explanation and it always has been😘

anywyas so haruka coming back by the end to me is explained thru his wish being Actually listened to and konoha retreating back to its original role though it is still a person. i think it becomes a case of reverse, from str onwards it is konoha watching through haruka instead of the other way around. this is kinda the logic behind why ive always loved the konoha reborn hc... with the whole soul thing. like konoha finally cutting ties with being a snake and not being awakening anymore, just konoha!!

One thing about this game that really irks me is how Laura keeps saying how the werewolves “aren’t people” but is never really challenged on it. i can absolutely see where shes coming from and why she says what she says, but you're right, that sort of thinking is definitely flawed. especially in the grand scheme of things. because yeah sure you're killing a werewolf but literally SECONDS later they transform back to human form.... and THEN you'll be forced to face reality. maybe there's no irl "equivalent" to this kind of situation, but going into it deeper wouldn't have hurt anyone. in fact, it would have been quite interesting, now that you mention it!

the idea that theres a chance where the creature nd antagonist of the game is actually someone you know nd love? only for a short amount of time too? meaning its not even permanent??? like. which is more important, yr own safety or that of yr loved ones (despite it being a gamble every time a werewolf enters view)? it's a fantastic concept. and yet they didn't really deliver, as you said

and like.... the one time they COULDVE done more with that topic (albeit w/ different characters) was with emma... when she gets bit in ch 4 and transforms in the van in ch 8? kaitlyn's able to shoot and kill her and yet. the game. doesn't have it so she and dylan find emma's body afterwards? they don't make them have that moment of. oh... i literally just killed my friend. like yes she did essentially kill only a werewolf but there's still someone BEHIND that werewolf, yk? and that someone is someone who she's spent the last 2 months living with and befriending

they do have kaitlyn be like "what if it's nick?" to which dylan responds with "what if it's not." which is a valid view, sure, but even if it were someone they didn't know, that's still a human person????

if Only the game presented and applied that specific dilemma to the characters more... bc even kaitlyn during her fight with caleb... i find it interesting that NO one ever had a moment of. ....i just shot and killed a person. like YEAH the person in question was under a different form and ATTACKING but, there's no way that still isn't in the back of their minds eating away at them yk?

the same thing can apply to silas too! and it's interesting to me because if you choose to not lift yr gun, laura DOES have a moment of "this is a boy im about to kill" but that's kind of IT........ so we KNOW that she understands theres a person behind the werewolf. but because there's no huge spotlight put on it in general, or shown to have been a problem for laura before, it doesn't really like. matter? it appears so. little. in comparison to everything else, i mean

the difference between chris and silas for laura was obv. max. but it is irritating how laura holds a certain view for chris' situation and a different one for silas'. especially when it's only seen in ONE potential choice during that scene. maybe it was to show laura's complexity nd duality, but i mainly think it was. poor writing. they should've made that predicament, that battle of morality, a bigger thing, for laura, for kaitlyn, for everyone
