How to Get (Free) Manga in Japanese from Honto.jp*

(*If you already have an account!)

I hope to get out a post about setting up an account sooner or later, but we'll give this a go for now!

Go to honto.jp There's an option to use the site in English, but we're skipping that for now. We're also only buying digital at the moment, so we're going to skip worrying about shipping. Close the pop-up.

2. Type the name of the book/series you're looking for into the search bar. This time we're looking for とつくにの少女, The Girl From the Other Side. (Note that I tried searching for 外国の少女 and didn't get the correct results, so do be careful how you type in what you're looking for.) Unselect the green option (紙) from next to the search bar, since right now we're only looking for digital (電子). Then click 検索.

3. You can see various volumes of the series appearing below. Right now it's showing up with the most recent at the top, so we'll scroll down until we see とつくにの少女（１）. Alternatively, they often sell sets up to the most recent volume released, so if you want to go all in, you can look for the option [全1−11 セット] とつくにの少女. In this case we need to scroll to the bottom and go on to the next page. Just a note that they do sell "complete" series even if the series is still publishing new volumes, and you'll have to buy future volumes as a new purchase. Also, it will not allow you to purchase both the full set and a single volume of the same series at the same time. Buying as a set vs. buying individually does not affect how the volumes appear in your library, but it can affect how coupons apply sometimes, if there's a deal on sets.

4. Here we are! とつくにの少女（１）! If you don't want to buy it right now, you can click 欲しい本に追加, but we're purchasing, so we're going to click the big orange (電子書籍を)カートに入れる.

5. Now you can see it's changed to カートを見る, and there's one item in our cart up top! Before we check out, though, let's take advantage of some of the perks of using honto.jp.

6. By hovering over Myメニュー at the top right, we can get to あしあと抽選ポイント and クーポン一覧.

7. Let's visit あしあと抽選ポイント first. You earn points by buying things on the website (1 point for 100 yen, I think?), but you can also enter the point lottery for a chance to win free points every day! Usually you only get one point, but it's still fun and a penny saved is a penny earned, right? Click the big blue button that says あしあと抽選にチャレンジ！

8. Next go to クーポン一覧. Go through and collect 取得する on the right side of all of them, we don't care. They're free. Most of them are for smaller publishers and only apply to specific books we're not interested in, but the ones at the top are going to help us get 20%~25% off if we're lucky! 25% is about the best deal you get on honto.jp, every once in a while you may get 30% or perhaps 40%. There are better sales, but they won't apply to the popular items.

9. All our coupons now having turned from blue to gray and saying 取得済み, we go to our bonus round... the free manga area! Click the logo in the top left to go back to the main page, and then look for 無料の電子書籍 right underneath the search bar.

There are hundreds and hundreds of free options, usually the first or first few volumes of a series. (They're to get you to buy the rest of the series, but they can save you some money!!) A lot are kind of whatever, but there's usually a few really good ones there, case in point Blue Giant (first 4 volumes) and Shadow House (first 3 volumes) are free right now! Sometimes they're only free for a limited amount of time after which they'll still appear in your digital library but you can no longer open them, but we don't care about that right now, go get your free stuff!

You can add the first volumes to your cart very quickly by clicking the orange button underneath the covers, but if you want all the free volumes, click on the cover to open in a new tab, which will take you to the page for the first volume. Click on シリーズ一覧 under the title and author, and that'll take you to a list of the volumes like we saw before, if you scroll down.

Now that we're here, go crazy hitting the orange button, but make sure you're doing it on the volumes that say 0円. They like to mix the paid volumes in with the free ones. If you look at the title you can see the free ones are only going to be available to read until March 16th, but whatever! Free stuff, even if it's temporary!

Something weird is going on with Shadow House, I don't know why there are two different free ones, I think that's an error on the part of the site. We'll just pick one for each volume. This one says 期間限定無料配信, so I think that means you get to keep it as long as you get it for free during the free availability period!

10. Now that we've rounded up what we want, click on your cart (電子書籍のカートを見る) in the top right. This'll pop up when you hover over the cart icon.

Look over your list, make sure your free books are free, and your total off to the right is what you're expecting, then enter your password on the right to continue, then hit the orange button that says 購入の手続きへ進む.

11. Now it pretty much looks the same, except we're logged in. It saves your payment information, so you won't have to enter anything (danger!! if you like buying books, there's no step of having to get out your credit card to make you think about your life choices!)

BUT we do want to save money, so we'll use our coupons and points! Click on the white box with the blue outline that says クーポン/ポイントの利用

12. Apply your coupon!! (One per purchase). But see, this is why we collect all the coupons, because apparently とつくにの少女 happens to be from one of the publishers that has a good sale on now! I think it automatically applies the best one, but it's good to check, especially if you have more than one item in your cart that costs actual money. You can see how it reduced from 605円 on the previous screen to 363円 here. By clicking 全て利用する on the right, I can also apply all my points to bring it down that much further! (Or click the lower options to use some or none of your points.) If points expire, I buy things off this site too frequently to have noticed... Then click 変更する in blue at the bottom to save your changes.

13. STOP, think about if you're ready to pay!! Then to finish, click the orange ご注文を確定 on the right! You can see I'll earn 2 pts to save on future purchases from this order. (It looks like it's less than 1 per 100円...)

14. DONE! You can open up the app on your preferred device, download your new purchase(s), and start reading! You can also read in-browser by clicking ブラウサで読む.

Hover over the cover to bring you to this screen, then select シリーズの本棚を見る to go to the mini-bookshelf for all the volumes in that series (I only have one of とつくにの少女, but that's what shows up anyway).

It shows me the volumes that are missing in gray, but if I hover over the one I have, I again see ブラウザーで読む. Click on that to finally read!

Ta-da! I think it also pops up with instructions about using the arrow keys to move the pages, or your can click on the sides of the pages to get them to advance in that direction.

hey!!! this is less of an ask and more of a fic rec tbh 😭 but have you read 'I May be Invisible, but I Still Look Good" by Dandy over on Ao3???? It's after the movie AND Leo-centric and like he gets cursed so his spirit is ripped out of his body. It's like 125k words of wonderful storytelling

OH- but for an actual question, do you have and fic recs?? or any AU's you think people should go check out?

ANYWAY YES I HAVE read this and I absolutely love it with every fiber of my being.❤️ 100% one of my top fics to read in this fandom that I even go back to for a reread more than once. The characters are perfectly done and the set up for the story is believable with a fantastic payoff, highly highly highly recommend to anyone who hasn’t read it yet.❤️

As for recs, I’ve always been terrible at giving recs since my memory is very bad especially for ones I haven’t read in a while.😭 Off the top of my head I can recommend (note these are practically entirely Leo-centric since he’s my special guy you understand (the others aren’t forgotten at all though!!!) - and most of these are very very well known so you’ve likely already read them…):

- The Neon Void by sugarpastels is absolutely incredible, the dramatic irony of it all as we follow Leo in the state he’s in and see just how broken all the Hamatos are by his “death” is just 👌👌👌 The fact that this places with one of my favorite tropes aka “Leo being in the Prison Dimension longer than canon” is just so good. Genuinely a thoroughly gripping tale that I highly recommend. It’s not complete yet (a lot of this list isn’t) but what is there is so amazing please read (though you most likely have read it already haha)

- little kid with a big death wish and firefight by remrose are another two you’ve likely seen but by god are they worth the read. Firefight isn’t done yet but it and death wish are so amazingly well written and really go into how trauma affects people differently and how ties with family can be tested in traumatic situations. Hard subjects definitely but very maturely done. (Also I misread firefight as firelight for way too long before I realized it-)

- Power Up and Times Five by pickedcarrotsandradish are both unfinished but I can’t care because what we were given is so good that I’m fine with them as they are. Both deal with Leo’s insecurities and bad feelings about himself and, very importantly, the fics go into how these insecurities establish a base for Leo’s very real flaws and how those flaws push him to act the way he does. Very interesting and compelling stuff here!! Power Up especially does really cool things for the boys’ mystic power ups, especially Leo’s, and I loved reading about the ins and outs of what they could do.

- Race Against Life, Death, and the EPF by Cass_Phoenix is just so engaging to read??? Like I love the entire set up for it - it’s feels so fresh and like you’re in Leo’s desperate situation yourself. I was so excited whenever a new chapter came out because the atmosphere was so well done.

- A Mixed Bag by GreatlyBlessed is SHOCKINGLY not Leo-centric for once haha. It’s not completed, but again, like the others above it is so good that I recommend it anyway. This story is actually a crossover between four sets of TMNT (‘87, ‘03, ‘12, and Rise) and the dynamics set up in it are SO fun I love it. Team 2 is my fave because you have literally all my faves on that team how could I not?? I also highly appreciate that everyone gets a chance to shine and that there’s no bashing at all, they’re all just very much in character and it’s refreshing to read ❤️❤️❤️

There’s a LOAD more that I could recommend I’m sure but I don’t remember them off the top of my head at the moment.😭 If I remember I’ll come back and add them in!

(Forgot about AU’s- honestly there’s some that I see and catch up on when I see them but there’s just so many that it’s a bit difficult to keep track of sometimes! I’d have to go around and fully look through many before having a solid answer haha! The ones I do see are always so well done though, I may come back and add them here if I remember 😅)

trey’s never really dealt with arguments before, so he’s kinda clueless on what he should do. should he just give you your alone time?? should he go over and apologize?? he’d be kinda nervous to, since you clearly don’t want to talk with him right now— so he ends up just sitting in his room, thinking until he eventually gives up and just goes to bed. maybe he can sort things out with you tomorrow? :’<

cater had this instinct telling him that you were going to, so earlier that day he went and prepared by buying you a box of chocolates to leave at your doorstep and a cute apology letter to go with it. he’s sure it’ll get you to forgive him! who wouldn’t melt at an act this cute?

“do they think i’m gonna chase after them? as if i’d do that.” —is what ace said, minutes before chasing after you. he misses you and is actually kind of sorry, but he cannot admit to that under any circumstances, so he just ends up bantering when you open the window— which you misunderstood as him trying to start up another fight. this certainly was not the best night for you, but at least ace begging you to not go when you were about to close your window was a funny sight.

it doesn’t matter if he was in the wrong or not; deuce is a simp and overwhelmed with feeling the need to apologize. so he sprints up to your dorm, knocks, and starts giving a clumsy (but heartfelt!) apology for the fight.

leona doesn’t care to move an inch when he realizes— he’s one stubborn guy, and if you want to sleep in that grimy bed, then fine! he won’t come after you. (until he’s tired of all this, that is. he’s eventually gonna drag you back one day since he misses you as his cuddle buddy.)

ruggie decides to give you your space. but as he’s getting ready for bed, he’s grumbling to himself about ‘how lame this fight is’ and ‘how lonely he’s gonna be tonight’, ears folded down against his head.

jack, after like two hours of trying to decide on whether he should leave you be or try to reach out, sent you an awkward “are u ok” text— and immediately wonders if he shouldn’t have and just let you be alone to collect your thoughts for the night. he’s not the best at this whole relationship thing, but he’s workin’ on it.

azul scoffs, muttering “good riddance” as he crawls into bed. half an hour later, he’s still awake and staring at his ceiling— then, his anxiety leads him to contact idia of all people. and idia’s like “if u don’t try and work thingz out rn u might wake up single” so.. azul ended up giving you a call.

jade just goes to sleep. dreaming about finding a really cool mushroom. but no, he’s not all too concerned about this— he’ll work things out with you tomorrow! he sees no need to get worked up over one little night alone when you two will be back to spending every night together again soon enough.

floyd very rudely breaks into your dorm. and you’re upstairs terrified because you might be in danger. until you hear a faint “shrimpyyy~!” —then it’s clear. you stomp downstairs to yell at him, but he hushes you and sits you down on the couch, telling you he won’t leave until you guys make up. (he doesn’t leave even after you two make up, and you end up having to host an impromptu sleepover.)

kalim, due to like.. his whole life, got really worried when he saw you weren’t in his room like you were every night, automatically assuming something bad must’ve happened to you!! the thought you might’ve still been mad about that tiny fight earlier hadn’t even crossed his mind, and he ended up asking for jamil to search for you— he’s super relieved you’re alright after all, but still displeased about something— he saaaid sorry about the fight~! what can he do to make you not mad?

jamil, much like kalim for the same reasons, also panicked a bit. (not nearly to the degree that kalim did though; he’s level-headed and knows that you’re mostly likely perfectly fine. but you can never be too sure, so he seeks you out.) he stands awkwardly at your doorway, not sure what to say, and if he should apologize about the fight— but it didn’t matter anyways since shortly after, you softly told him goodnight before closing the door on him.

vil is still irked about the fight, but he is not going to let you stay in that shabby, dirty room because.. ew. (it’s scary to him how you can stand to be there.) he ends up nagging you as he picks little bits of dust out of your hair and clothes. 

rook… this man….. he climbed his way up to your window, pretended that he was about to fall off so that you would let him in, then the second he was inside, suddenly bowed and started formally apologizing for the argument earlier. if you (somehow) weren’t sure that he was crazy before, you do now. (but you ended up forgiving him.)

epel doesn’t like this. he’s sorta petty (??) when it comes to fights, and you doing this makes him feel like he’s been one upped, if that makes even the tiniest shred of sense. but anyways, you’ll probably have to be the one to make the first move in making up.

idia’s mind is chaotically jumping between “lololol they’re so immature avoiding me” and “omg they hate me we’re over” then crying. it’s a lot. what does he end up doing? sending you this long ass clusterfuck of an apology text, and it is so!! damn! difficult!!! to read!! it was all just everything on his mind (a disaster), no proofreading, and the desire to give you an apology out as soon as he could. you probably had several strokes trying to make sense of it.

malleus swears he’s not concerned and that you’ll be over the fight by morning, but then finds himself talking to lilia at like 1am. of course, explaining about how worried he is that he’s crossed you. lucky for him, lilia’s great at advice and tells him that if he’s so anxious, he should try and make up as soon as possible— so malleus instantly teleports into your room to apologize.

lilia predicted you doing this from a mile away. he finds it a bit upsetting that you’re still mad about that little fight earlier, since he thought everything would be fine by now. but hey, a funny little trick should fix everything up, shouldn’t it? he sure hopes it does— wants to see a smile on your face!

sebek immediately shows up, bangs on your door, and demands to know why you’re staying at ramshackle. long story short, the conversation quickly snowballed into another fight— the whole thing gave big “the neighborhood unhappy couple that always fight on their front lawn” energy. you’ll probably have to get ace or someone to get you two to make up, sigh.

silver was out like a light since probably 6pm and wasn’t awake to realize you were sleeping at ramshackle. but he did when it was morning and you weren’t beside him, like you always were. but being the sweet boy he is, he went to apologize as soon as he saw you. “i didn’t know that the argument had upset you that much.. i’m really sorry about it.”

How does failteacher Yuri interact with the greater plot of persona 5? I remember Toriumi mentioning 'some weird shit in 2010', but do the two of them have to deal with stuff like Kamoshida's change of heart and the principal's death?

the current policy is that unless something directly and immediately relevant comes up the answer is "it doesn't"

for 2 reasons. number one is that i don't feel like binding myself to the month-by-month timeline of p5-the-game in too much detail, because i'm lazy, and making my AU up as i go (lol). and the second reason is that observing the plot from a completely uninitiated unrelated POV is just not very interesting to me....... orz

one important thing about my failteacher AU is that it's a casual n sloppy style(!!) project that i do this way because it's fun (and as soon as i stop having fun i will stop making it). the vibe of creating it is just as important as the vibe of reading it. my worry is that committing too hard to ~The P5 Plot Is Happening Among Us~ would have me too distracted by logistics and timeline puzzles that aren't even relevant to the story i'm trying to tell, and suck the fun out of the project for me...

due to the year difference btween the 2 games, the plot of P3 did happen in 2009-2010 (the "weird shit" comment was in a doodle but yes it did happen and parts of it will be Main Comic Material later when relevant) (and i think its obvious enough from comics like #3 and general characterization that the Hermit 1-10 arc took place) (BUT MODIFIED IN VERY IMPORTANT PLACES. LOL) but obviously toriumi was an uninitiated & unrelated POV to that game so she doesn't really know that much about it outside of the parts that directly impacted her (which to be fair. are pretty serious)

p5 is much scarier because its looming on the horizon in FRONT of us and i hate being confined by a tangentially-related-at-best timeline. directly dealing with stuff like the fallout of palace 1 is a MAYBE? but ONLY because there are tangible Relevant consequences for -us- (more scrutiny placed on shujin teachers -> ms chouno gets on kawakami's ass, etc)

im gonna be real withyou i didnt even remember the principal dies. MDHNBFGB sorry to this man

all in all its just like. 99% of the plot of p5 is stuff these people are not privy to (kawakami's % is removed due to her no longer being joker's confidant thanks to hermit meddling) + committing to that timeline too hard would be abrasive to the comic + im much more versed in p3 minutiae anyway (especially later on in the p5 year). so its kind of like. well. just try not to Expect anything too major xD

if smthg catches my interest and i can work with it to make an interesting development, sure. but in the end its like why would i risk binding myself to specific points of a timeline and incurring Untold Rammys when i could simply not do that to myself. you know 😭

HOWEVER. FOR UNRELATED REASONS THAT ARE IMPORTANT BUT MAY OR MAY NOT PAY DIVIDENDS LATER (<- what did he mean by this?) it is seeming INCREASINGLY LIKELY that we might in fact currently be in the autumn -before- p5, meaning joker enrolls come spring in a few months and the game starts then.

^this paragraph directly contradicts everything above it but its fine. i have my reasons. just don't hold me to it TOO closely. i don't want to commit to a timeline just to be boxed in by unforeseen consequences later. but if you were curious there is a quiet notion in the background that says the plot of p5 proper hasn't started yet.

it's a "soft fuzzy timeline" but that's Secretly where we're at in it . kawakami bitching about her awful new student come April <3

Hey Mera! I have a question, and sorry if this is a dumb one, but I recently read your yandere sk Floyd work for the lunar love event, and I was wondering um what colour is Stygian? Google said it’s a dark colour so is his hair just a darker shade of blue or is just rly dark, like almost black?Also, has his hair grown out a bit while he was in prison? Like by a bit or a lot? Sorry it’s just small curiosities but I was wondering what he would look like, (I’m not sure if you’ve posted something already talking about his appearance), I love the idea of (ex) prisoner Floyd and am thinking of drawing him so I just wanna know the juicy details (like any piercings or tattoos cause I’m a thirsty anon)

Hello!! It's not a dumb question at all. It is a word meaning "very dark," but it can also mean black or ebony. I pictured Floyd dying his hair black when I wrote it. I feel like he wears blue-colored contacts for all of a few days before he tires of that and switches to his regular contact lenses or maybe even glasses since moray eyesight is terrible. <3 thinking of Floyd with black hair and glasses... aaaa he's cute even if he's dangerous!!

But then appearance-wise, I think he'd definitely look more intimidating than adorable. I like to imagine he has sleeve tattoos on his arms. Maybe even an eel tattoo on his chest or curled around his bicep. It's fun to imagine him with tattoos that tie into his Coral Sea origins. Omg and maybe a tattoo referencing his unique magic "Bind the Heart"!!! Many thoughts... orz perhaps he even got some of the tattoos while he was in prison. He definitely has a shrimp tattoo or maybe he's tattooed your name onto him. Normally Floyd would find it boring or cheesy, but he's so devoted to you! If he can't have you physically pressed to him, then your name will suffice (for now).

As for piercings, I like to picture sk!Floyd with a dick piercing (while sk!Jade has his tongue piercing), but maybe that's irrelevant. ^^;;; his hair probably did grow in prison, unless if it was a regulation in the prison that his head had to be shaved. But pretending that that wasn't the case, Floyd probably cut his own hair while in prison (or attempted to with what little tools he could sneak back to his cell). He had to look nice and handsome for his interviews with Shrimpy, after all! <3 maybe he even likes the longer, messier-than-normal style when he escapes. Maybe he keeps it in a short, loose ponytail or maybe he complains about the hairstyle and cuts it back to his preferred length some time later. I think it really is mood-dependent for him. >_< but Floyd with Shinpei's hairstyle is so omg!!!!!

There are just so many possibilities with Mr. ex-prisoner sk!Floyd. :D if you do end up drawing him, I would love to see!!!!!

Summary: You’ve been in love with your best friend Mingyu. But he’s marrying someone else and Minghao shows up to comfort you.

Notes: Sorry for the bad summary. Written after the song Bride or Groom by India Parkman. Not very well proofed. The beginning drags a little because I wanted to add backstory. I’m sorry. orz  Also excuse me while I learn how to add a gif.

"--e or groom?" The question fazed over you as this day drew to its peak. You look up at the woman who's manning the guest list and try not to seem so lost.

"I'm sorry. What was the question?" You felt the heat of embarrassment warm your cheeks as you asked her to repeat herself.

"Bride or groom?" She asked again. Now that you knew the question you still had no idea how to even answer.

"Oh. Umm. Either? I'm friends of both."

"Alright. And you said your name was Y/N?" You nod and she writes it down. "Alright. Please head inside until it starts."

You give a slight bow of acknowledgement and headed in.

Your two best friends in this whole world were getting married. Mingyu and Ali. You had known them both since middle school. You went to high school together and then you all enrolled into the same college together. Mingyu studied Music. Ali studied art. And you studied production. Together you three were to be the ultimate team.

And then you fell in love. Mingyu and you were so close. If you needed someone to come watch that scary movie on Halloween. He was there. If you had a boyfriend break up with you and you needed a shoulder to cry on. Mingyu was there. When your father died of cancer, he was there. Ali was too of course. But the closeness you felt for Mingyu was different.

Then Ali came to you one night because she needed a friend to talk to. "Mingyu asked me on a date." She giggled a little and bit her lip as if she really wasn't sure she should be telling you. You wished she hadn't. Your world shattered. "We're going on another one tomorrow." She spent the next couple hours reminiscing about your school days and could never have imagined that Mingyu would choose her.

Most of her chattering went over your head. You tried to congratulate her with sincerity. But it was hard.

Then two years later, they got engaged. There was a huge announcement dinner with you and his music buddies. You knew most of them. You had grown close to Sungkwan and Seokmin and Soonyong. You came to learn those three could defuse a room in just a matter of moments. The only member you couldn't seem to get along with was Xu Minghao. He was always teasing you or just seemed relatively abrasive.

Of course they were all here at the wedding. Mingyu and Ali had agreed not to have any wedding maids or men of honor. They couldn't share you after all so Ali's niece was the flower girl and only Sungkwan had any nephews so they asked if he could be ring barer.

So next to Sungkwan you sat. Your gaze on Mingyu who was anxiously waiting at the alter. You couldn't look away. He was so handsome in his suit. He looked away just long enough to see you looking at him and as his oblivious nature, he smiles a thankful smile your way. Your heart catches and it takes everything out of you just to stay in your seat.

To your luck, the music starts playing. It was beautiful and nothing you'd ever heard before. Maybe he got Jihoon to write something for them. You turned as Ali came through the doors. Her dress was stunning. Scoop neck with off the shoulder sleeves. A lace overlay with a moderate train.

She didn't even second a glance at you as she walked passed. Not that you blamed her. Mingyu held her full attention.

The rest of the ceremony went by in a blur. You were definitely ready to drown yourself in cake and whatever else they serve at weddings. With the wedding being at a winery, guests were able to go in and out as they pleased but outside the chairs were moved and a few more tables were moved in to make room for people to sit out doors and the alter was changed to be a place for the bride and groom to have their first dance which wouldn't be until later.

You decided to sit outside and stabbed your fork into a roasted baby potato, paying no mind to the person who took a seat next to you. "You look thoroughly unexcited and ready to leave." You recognized the voice as Minghao. Which you simply replied to him with a sharp look before raising your facade. "I have absolutely no idea what you could be talking about. It's my best friends' wedding. Of course I'm happy to be here celebrating."

"Mhmm." Minghao gave you an incredulous look. "You know what I think you need." He paused and looked around for a moment before getting up just long enough to nab two flutes of champagne off a tray. "You need to relax." He handed the glass to you and softly clinked them together before taking a sip and ignoring the glare you were shooting in his direction.

"I heard you helped pick the flowers." Minghao said idly as he softly touched the hanging blue wisteria in front of him.

"Amongst other things." You stabbed into another piece of food and your champagne was gone almost too fast. But dutiful Minghao got her another drink and you just had to tease him. "If I didn't know any better, I might accuse you of trying to get me drunk."

Maybe it was the alcohol but you heard him chuckle and it brought a soft flush to your cheeks. "I have more class then that Y/N."

You heard another clinking sound as Mingyu walked outside and went over to the DJ booth where he was handed a microphone.

"I want to thank everyone who came here today," he started. "Ali has been planning this since before I even proposed. If you can believe that." He teased and the crowd let out a soft laugh. "I also want to thank..." there was a pause as he held his glass up and looked around at everyone, smiling, and you sucked in a sharp breath, "all of my friends who helped us. Who supported us. We will treasure all of you." He raised his glass and took a sip as everyone clapped and handed the mic back to the DJ before returning to Ali. The music started, signaling the bride and grooms dance.

You couldn't stay. You tossed back your champagne and tired to slip away before the tears could come.

"Y/N. Wait a moment." Minghao called you but you felt you'd been completely abandoned. You grabbed another glass on your way and downed that just as fast.

"Hey hey hey. Let me help." Minghao didn't think you could get drunk off only a few glasses of champagne (that he knew of) but he didn't like the risk. "Come on. I'll give you a ride." He saw Sungkwan start to head over but he shook his head and guided you out the door.

You managed to make it to the car before you let out a sharp scream and then the tears started to flow. "I helped them with everything! The flowers! The caterer! Her dress! His tux! I did it ALL." You simply yelled into the void before putting your head in your hands and sobbed.

Minghao helped to buckle you in and drove you to the hotel that the guests were staying at. By the time you got there, your eyes were red and swollen but you had stopped crying. You figured you had just run out of tears to cry.

"Will you be alright?" Minghao actually sounded concerned. Something he had never done for you before. Usually he called you stupid for caring too much about the small stuff. It took a moment but you looked up and met his gaze. "Can you...stay with me? Just for a little while."

You didn't want to be alone tonight. You needed someone who understood and you were thankful that he agreed. "Just until you're asleep."

He was surprisingly doting. He guided you to the couch and brought you a glass of water before sitting down next to you. "Do you want to talk about it?"

Tears formed just at the thought of it all and you were about to speak when you heard your phone vibrate. Minghao was kind enough to retrieve it but instead of giving it to you, you saw his jaw flex and he answered it.

"Hey Mingyu." You felt sick.

"No. She's alright."

"I don't think that's a good idea. Enjoy your wedding and she'll call you when she's ready." And he hung up. Simple as that. You stared at him dumbfounded as he turned your cellphone off.

"Thank you." You said weakly and once he sat back down next to you, you laid your head on his shoulder. Minghao went slightly stiff under the contact but being so exhausted, you didn't notice.

"Should we get you more comfortable?" He cleared his throat a little and stood back up, heading for the bathroom. You were about to ask if you had done something when he came back out with your entire bathroom kit. He took out the make up wipes and helped clean your face off. It felt much better then you ever would admit. He helped you take your hair down. And while you changed, he refilled your water glass and set it by the bed.

"I said I'd stay until you fell asleep but..." He looked around before going to get the chair they kept at the desk in the hotel room.

Feeling awful you patted the bed. "Just sit here." You saw him shift but give a resigned sigh and sat on the other side of the queen sized bed.

"Why don't you tell me everything and I'll listen?"

The words hung there for a little bit. Your brain whirled as you weren't sure where to start. Or how to start. But eventually it just poured out.

"I was so stupid. I was so in love with him." Your voice quivered as you fought another round of tears. "If I had told him sooner...do you think it would have made a difference?" You didn't really want an answer and Minghao knew it. He let his hand leave his side and he brushed a few fingers through your hair.

"I don't know. But I do know you're definitely stupid." Your head shot up and you pouted at him. Minghao had to restrain a chuckle. For awhile now he kept looking and looking and looking for an excuse to meet up with Y/N. He knew he always picked on you. But he had seen that being nice to you like Kwan, Seokmin, and Soon got a guy nowhere. He knew he could barely compete with Mingyu (everyone saw the way you looked at him). He ruffled your hair a little. "Don't worry. Love makes people do stupid things so you're not alone."

You relaxed a little at his jest and with the silence that fell, you felt sleep start to wash over you. "Hao...?" You called out sleepily and waited for his soft hum of reply, "Thank you for being here."

Minghao softly chuckled. Gods above he thought you were so damn cute. "Like I said. Love makes us do stupid things." He murmured into the room and knew you were to sleepy to understand and once you were asleep he leaned over and placed a soft kiss to your temple. "I'll be here until morning."

Light filtered through the blinds and stirred you awake. A headache was forming but you didn't know if it was from the drinks or the crying. Not that it mattered. Then you remembered Minghao and sat up with a start. "He's not here." You murmured to yourself and tried not to cry again. For some reason if felt like you were being abandoned again. You didn't have much time to process this as your hotel door clicked open and you jumped out of bed with a gasp. Who could possibly have a key?

Minghao jumped slightly when he saw you hiding behind the wall. "What are you doing there?" He sounded exasperated as he placed a bag down on the table and started to unpack food. "I hope you don't mind. I grabbed your key and wanted to be back before you woke up."

You felt your heart swell. "Not at all. I appreciate it."

You two ate in relative silence before he put his food down. "Y/N. I want to ask you something." You hummed so he knew you were listening. "I know you're getting over Mingyu but I want to ask you. Will you let me help you?"

You started to cough a little as you had inhaled your food over his words. "You what?"

You looked at him stunned and watched him turn his entire body and attention to you. "Will you go on a date with me?"

This was it. This was your chance! If the last 24 hours had taught you anything, it was that Minghao was a good guy. That his teasing was his way of caring. You started to realize that his poking fun was his way of getting close to you but you had just been so blinded by Mingyu.

You hummed a thoughtful hum as you set your food down and pretended to look like you were thinking. "On two conditions."

"Name it." He tried not to look too excited as he waited for you to continue.

"One: No kisses until the second date." You saw him pout but you giggled. "Two: This is date number one." He laughed at that and it was the sweetest thing you had heard in a long time.

"Deal."

Okay, okay. I'll just be dropping this here based on the previous post found. Maybe this "could" fix Wallace issue.

We know that there existed like two ways to become a Chosen Child/Digidestined (or whichever worldwide dub term you would like to use) -- One by "The Ones Who Desire Stability" (aka "Homeostasis" in the novels), and by the Holy Beasts. Those are the ones i've noticed and were stated in canon (and i'm... i think it's too complicated for myself to find a place for the games, sorry orz and i'm sorry i can't make ▽ work with this either... orz)

For now we know Taichi's group were selected by Homeo. And Dai-Miya-Iori by the Holy Beasts. We don't know about Ken or the rest, especially Wallace and Rui.

To be honest, poining out Rui here because the footage from DigiFes had shown a very different model from Taichi's digivice. Like, the shape and style is easily mistaken by the "Standard" Digivice, except when you look it closely (sorry, i won't find the footage and i wouldn't post it to avoid spoiling things to peeps who do not want to see even a PV or preview of this movie) the details of it are pretty different.

Which... I suspect Taichi's digivice (and the one everyone but the Dark Seed kids has) were an upgrade of the previous model. Not sure IF from Rui's model, just... An older version of it was revealed.

"Okay, you mentioned this could fix Wallace contradiction to the canon. How?" Well, it's simple (i think): In Adventure we did get Homeo explaining things to Taichi and co., showing them holograms and leading them to the places their digivices, crests and possibly partners were made. I remember they all were working on stuff, and i suspect it was digivices and possibly crests or even digimon for other Chosen Children. We also saw that the Dark Masters invaded the lab-factory-idk-what-was-that-place-now, and we definitely watched the end of Gennai's kind. BUT! 02 shows three different hooded people on Imperialdramon's debut episode and they were different from Gennai (the first to pop in in the flashback scene) -- different skin color and robes were all there. Since Gennai is said to serve Qinglongmon... Yeah, you could expect the other three Holy Beasts got their own section of servants. If each servant was working on delievering digivices and digimon to children, this means there's a possibility that Gennai's "sector" had a delay. This could mean the Chosen got their digivices only when idk the Gennai clones appeared. I have no idea what happened, but something something some of those kids got digimon first but their digivices later. And all of them were the "recent" model -- Taichi's model. Wallace could've gotten his twin-mons first when he was a baby, at the same time as Taichi, but maybe the kid only got his digivice... later.

Do i make sense? I hope so.

that name doesn't really feel accurate i just literally don't know what else to call it but its my AU where MC is from miami (aka self-insert au ig?? even tho its supposed to be a self-insert anyway?? idk idk) and i just kinda wanted to explore the ramifications of an MC that knows a Miami that's very different from the one that miguel is in, not only bc its the 80s but also the criminal element and also the general areas of miami that i grew up in are very different from where miguel grew up... i also wanted to do HEAVY research about miami in the 80s (maybe i can show off my reading list lol) to get a more "authentic" portrait of the city ??? SO LIKE all that mixed together would kinda end up changing the plot up bc like ofc it'll still be romantic bc im a simp BUT bc im writing like a narrative with other themes and an "OC" and not a romantic visual novel, the elements i'll steal from CMIM are more like the skeleton of the plot and not a scene-for-scene remake, ykwim? so bc of that, i also imagined it shorter and also like a movie script - three-act structure and all that jazz SO!! its an action/adventure/crime/romantic/comedy taking place in 1980s miami!! ALSO U WENT TO SEE A MOVIE AND GOT SUCKED IN SO LIKE i wanted to explore that and the "man out of time" angle that the visnov can't rlly get into bc it can't assume anything about what time period ur from without breaking the self-insert illusion AND ALSO i rlly wanted some ängst re: if this is all real or if everything is gonna end once the "movie's over" ya kno i just love that drama spice of "do u love me bc ur supposed to love me, is any of this ur choice, what will happen when i wake up" and all that jazz 🤭 heehee hoohoo

After luring Chiaki into a false sense of security and getting her to come out of the closet, Jade and Floyd then chase her down the hall, apprehending her and attempting to use a chloroform cloth (like in the movies but don’t actually use it on someone, I believe that is toxic and dangerous orz) on Chiaki,,,

The twins suddenly get intercepted by the Police, including Crowley and Yuu. This forces the twins to flee from the scene. [Although they do get the necklace from Chiaki]

Crowley: Oh, how generous of them to leave the door unlocked!

???:

???: You didn’t lock the door?

???:  Haah? I was supposed to lock the doooor?

Yuu: Hello? The place looks wrecked,,, maybe a break-in? Crowley: My my, such a keen eye my Ramshackle unit…

???: Floyd. 

???: Ugh… let’s just take the necklace, we don’t have enough time to take the girl with us.

The two intruders flee the scene, leaving Chiaki half asleep on the floor from the chloroform rag.

Yuu: Sorry, that you had to sleep at the police department,,, and at an empty cellar-

Yuu: But anyway- My name is Yuu, pleasure to meet you. We found you unconscious, but we couldn't just leave you unattended and still unconscious at your home alone… who knows if those men will come again to get you.

The file shows blurry profiles of the same men who broke into Chiaki's house, the only information added into the files are their names, affiliation, and employee position in a cafe called Monstro Lounge.

Crowley: Those rascals are known as the Leech twins… Or the boss of Octavinelle group's right hand men,,,  No wonder they were swift enough to flee so professionally before we caught them at the time we arrived.

Yuu: No time to praise them for their schemes, Crowley. They just left and probably stole something from this young lady!

Chiaki: They took my necklace…! 

Yuu: Your necklace…? *Starts rubbing his chin while thinking * Out of other kinds of possessions, and being sure that they weren't looking for money using this kind of trespassing- there must be something about your necklace that might make Octavinelle desiring to steal it.

Chiaki: It used to belong to my great-grandmother, it’s very old and important to my family. But it’s old,,, probably not worth that much money… why would they steal something stupid like that? And right off my neck too,,, ugh.

Yuu: *looks at Crowley* We need to fetch that necklace back, they must be planning something vicious with it-

Crowley: but before we can get the grasp of that necklace, we need to blend in some kind of Mafia connection… Octavinelle is a very private Mafia group, so they definitely have more than one whereabouts besides Monstro Lounge cafe to hide Chiaki's necklace…

Chiaki: How can we… get Intel and connection?

Crowley: Is more simple as said than done, we're talking about mafias after all…

Crowley: To make our investigation be worth the time, we should start looking after the Mafia group Heartslabyul… Rumors are that its leader recently became business partners with Octavinelle's boss. If we go to their whereabouts, which is at their main casino building, we may fetch some valuable information…

Crowley: Only youthful and fast people like you two can handle this main task!

JUST finished heishi’s route in norn9 hold on i wanna talk about whatever i just witnessed (also might have spoilers for kakeru and senri since those are the other two ive finished) (also also spoilers for amnesia memories because i always wanna talk about amnesia memories)

SO LIKE ive been playing norn9 in the slowest way humanly possible (started in 2017 and im three routes down half a decade later LOL not a bad game tho!! the soundtrack is fantastic and the comedy writing is really great even if the plot stuff so far feels a little disjointed, its just a 9 love interest game is a little overwhelming hfjdksjsfkdls) and like i have a tendency to take several month long breaks between routes as well as whatever my brain decides is a natural stopping point and last time i played heishi’s route was like. some time last year. i was unmedicated at the time so i dont remember where exactly but it was like JUST before his first attempt at a confession on the top floor/roof thing of the orb they live on, and like

i think ive mentioned before how while ive heard that Toma’s behaviour is explained in the amnesia fandiscs as his mild possessiveness being amplified by time loop wackiness, i still choose to believe he’s just Like That because i think its hilarious to add just one more strange incongruous thing to a simultaneous grounded and out there game like amnesia (like how mathematicians in this universe seem to wear a lot of belts????????). well ive decided in my head to view heishi’s route as the opposite HJFJDhjlkfdssjflkd

like RIGHT after he got his confession wiped from his memory by nanami to stop ron from shooting him, he got like WACKY like it felt like i was playing a different route with a different guy and i dunno about the fandiscs yet but in game its explained as heishi losing control over the emotions he’s been suppressing because he’s in love and stressed out but I CHOOSE to believe that the mind wipes scrambled his brain because i like. the speculative fiction implications of that JKDLSDJs

the other bad ends i played werent quite this level like kakeru’s had him getting wacky cause of his mind control earring which was nuts and i loved it but it like. was foreshadowed. and i dont remember senri’s bad ending at all (as forementioned i was unmedicated while finishing it so i dont remember everything orz i do remember natsuhiko being like ‘jesus christ is that a fucking gremlin” every time he saw him tho which was hilarious) but i cant imagine it was that nuts, but girl. oh my god

everyone always talks about ron (haven’t gotten to him yet but like. looking at him in other routes i can guess how he’s gonna be. which is kind of a shame and why i dont really care for the yandere routes being obvious LOL like okay the sketchy amoral guy is sketchy and amoral. who coulda guess. im being mean sorry i think i just love wild shit happening in otome games, i just think itd be really funny if instead of being fucked up, after all his behaviour in other routes, ron was just like a normal dude in his own. keep my on my toes otome games) but i hadnt heard a LICK about heishi. actually maybe thats why it worked so well... i was so prepared for whatever’s gonna go on with ron that i let my guard down with heishi fsjkldkfjsd

gonna be like 28-53 business days until i play another route but im gonna do akito next, hope he’s normal, koharu had a reasonable time with kakeru and a great time with senri yet nanami can’t seem to catch a break orz praying for her

favorite color: i love all the colors dearly but most of all i would say blue, orange and brown... I love all the blue shades!! They remind me of the sea and the islands and generally happy sunny days or calm cool nights. I love the specific shades of orange that fruits have! Like, the tangerine one? Magnificent. The peachy one? Show-stopping. I just... really love orange. And all the shades of brown are good to me except maybe the kinda green-y ones i guess... Anywayzz sorry for the ramble i just really love colors lol

currently reading: fanfiction!! i really don't have energy for anything else rn!! it's a sakuatsu fic btw called "Again, until it's perfect." by fairycake on ao3 and i just started it so i don't have any comments yet lol (and it has manga spoilers!)

last series: the last non animated one was "Our flag means death"!!!! Which i really really loved!!!! i finished it in one afternoon while needing to study for my exams and i was an emotional mess for 1-2 days afterwards (i didn't study much for the exams ofc orz) It was really nice and i recommend it, 5 stars 10/10 would watch again etc etc
