Possible galaxy-brain thought: what if they introduce Mazrim Taim onscreen in S3 to lay the groundwork for the Black Tower in S4...and also tie him to Elaida's introduction and the Tower Coup plot. He was namechecked in S2 as a False Dragon; his existence and Logain's could be used by the Black Ajah to muddy the waters SIGNIFICANTLY on what Siuan and Moiraine are doing with Rand, making the decision to depose Siuan even more understandable from an outside perspective. (Elaida can easily be convinced post-Coup Rand is the real deal DR after all via Foretelling or other evidence).

Additionally...if they go full Taimandred...then he could be the Forsaken in disguise that has been referred to...and that would firmly centre the Tower Coup as a deliberate strategy of the Shadow but only once we know who he is (which presumably you'd save for post-Dumai's Wells for full OH SHIT potential). Yes he'd have to have replaced the real Taim, but AFAIK that's what happened in the books until the reality-switch in WH where Taimandred was no longer a thing.

I adore that one of the first things we learn about about Logain and Taim relationship in the books is just Logain going: “I can’t stand the man. He’s awful and wants me to do farming. Disgraceful, hope Taim has a terrible day.”

And the guy he’s talking to is just like: “But I thought you guys were besties?????”

Like what is going on at the Black Tower? Logain, why do all the other Asha’man think Taim is your closest friend and is giving you special privileges? How long has this been going on for?

My obvious assumption is that the entire Black Tower thinks they’re in some kind of enemies to lovers situationship and I find that immensely funny.

Just learned that some fans thought that Taim was Demandred. But wasn't Taim around before Demandred got out of prison?

taim being demandred would turn rand neglecting the black tower into a comedy instead of an infuriatingly stupid decision. demandred just repeatedly does increasingly obvious shady shit at the black tower to try and lure rand to come give him attention, and rand doesn't care at all.

Since Mazrim Taim was already mentioned before the other Forsaken were released chances are he isn't going to be Demandred in the show, unless they have him assume Taim's identity.

Hot take but I love Mazrim Taim.

Is he obvious evil and plotting? Yes. Is he going to betray Rand? Absolutely!

But my god is he having a ball doing all these things and I can’t help but love him for it!

Just got to the end of TPOD and this man strolls into the actively on fire Sun Palace after just being menacingly in the background of the last book and a half and finds his boss and his bosses girlfriend in an absolute state in said palace basement and is just like: What’s this, some of my Ash’aman betrayed you?! What a coincidence! I never saw this coming. Don’t worry my Lord Dragon, I the man who doesn’t even bow to you, will totally sort this out don’t even worry about it!

And then Rand just doesn’t worry about it and dips with Min.

It’s insane and I need a book of Mazrim Taim’s shady Black Tower shenanigans ft. Logain ‘apparently his workplace worstie’ Ablar just being very petty with one another. Or kissing. I think either seems feasible and very funny.

Rereading Lord of Chaos is SO funny when you read it knowing that RJ was writing Taim as Demandred at the time. Bashere thinks Taim looks wrong and he’s just like “oh I shaved.” Rand tells him “Taim at least you didn’t do anything as evil as Demandred, who murdered two whole cities.” Taim smirks the entire time he swears loyalty to Rand. The man’s vibes are rancid and I love it
