#me: i should only use my blog for art. it shouldn't be a personal blog

Would you be ok with indivituals using some of your fallouty unique deathclaws and other creature drawings as references when theyre running a private Fallout TTRPG campaign amongst friends?
Totally ok if youre not fine with that! I just wanted to check.
it may be possibly time for another long-winded explanation that will enrage precisely two people who will send me weird anon hate over it because they don't understand the notion of transformative works but - It's hard to state in plain terms what I am and aren't comfortable with people using my art for, because even for me there's a lot of handwavey 'am i really uncomfortable with this or is it just a kneejerk reaction' kind of thing with a lot of caveats
there's often a pretty big disconnect between what people view as references - some people will view it as a single image, like "for reference, this is what it looks like" and slap the art down on the table for their players to go WHOAAAA over (repost blogs tend to do this). For an artist doing this, it's usually as a study, or results in a pretty obvious 1:1 because the idea they're pulling from isn't diluted across a range of things.
The other use of reference is several images and enough of your own personal touch to put a unique spin on all of them in a cohesive artwork or design. This is the bit that a lot of people stumble over, because they go 'but I like this thing only' and don't want to venture beyond that. If you're able to not only pull a range of artworks, but a range of artworks by different artists, immense kudos to you. The way I construct deathclaws is from an immense knowledge of weird animals and different media. For instance, Spectral makes use of a deathclaw, a ghost leviathan from subnautica, a xenomorph, and the understanding of vestigial limbs, bioluminescence, diaphanized tissue, and opalization. Transforming this in a tabletop might therefore look like the image itself, but then adding say the aquatic spinosaurus theory in there and making it swim out of an irradiated lake with a paddle tail and a huge back crest. And a bigger mouth with worse teeth that can strip a human's arm down to the bone in one degloving bite. You don't necessarily have to be able to draw it (I'm in a bit of a niche and therefore shouldn't hold everyone to my same standards) but it also says good things about your ability to host a tabletop game if you're able to be creative with the unique ideas you put in it and your ability to visualize and describe them. Embrace that. (Some of the kickback against this was people going 'well artists do this all the time, they take other artists' works for their references, that's part of the industry standard' but that's the point of transformative works and not typically modern tabletop gaming. I'm also just one person doing this. I'm not an industry professional, I'm not a huge company for which my works are publicly available in an immensely popular IP. It may be fanart and I don't own deathclaws, but I still own all rights to the art itself. Some people (that one really furiously angry anon in particular) hold me to the same standard as if I was representative of Bethesda Softworks itself and therefore it's right and proper to take my shit, because it's deathclaws, and all deathclaws are Bethesda's, and I wouldn't be this popular without that, I should expect people to take my stuff, it's the internet - I am just one person making fanart. and I am very tired.) I think the biggest problem I have with people taking my designs for TTRPG assets is that it's the only reaction they have sometimes. the 'wow cool! can I take this?' reaction akin to a little child shoving things in their mouth. That doesn't reflect well on you, and for the artist it doesn't feel good. And most tabletop gaming these days is casual sessions that usually center around getting the campaign itself done with little creativity beyond what the players bring to the table, which results in using other peoples' art they found on google without being creative about it at all, which is why you'll see a lot of artists who have beef with it, because it also doesn't feel good. All this to say - if you ask and are respectful and credit back, it still feels weird to me, but like... sure! I do this for fun and to express creativity, so if it encourages other people to also have fun and express their creativity, I'd feel bad saying no to an earnest request! It's fanart, we're all fans here, etc But also most people who aren't respectful won't ask, won't be creative, or will get mad when I say Can You Don't, so I'm kinda preaching to the wrong crowd here - to those people, you're right, I can't stop you from doing it anyway. but it will not put you in my good books

Pride Month just started, and I wanted to take this opportunity to say something I think is implicit but that everyone should be aware of:
You are a person and that's what matters.
There shouldn't be a discussion on whether or not it's okay for people to be happy, live, have rights or have those rights be respected. Every human being (and every being, for that matter) deserves respect. Unless they are harming someone (harming meaning abuse; not just existing), they can and should do whatever makes them happy. No one needs permision to exist.
The only people who can give their opinion about your relationship are you and your partner. The only person who decides what you can and can't wear is you. The only one who knows your gender is also you. How or who you have sex, kiss, marry, live with or love is nobody else's business.
The LGBTQIA+ community is for people who aren't allo-hetero-cis. That means that if you aren't all three, allo, hetero and cis, you belong here. This is a great time to show support, because the attention is on this topic. Take this chance to educate (yourself and others) about sexual and gender identities. Do your research, talk to people in the community. Always be respectful. Ask if it's okay to ask questions, always making sure what you're asking about is something you wouldn't be uncomfortable answering to yourself. Go for general questions ("what does it mean to be [insert identity here]?", "why is [insert topic/person/action here] problematic?", "what can I do to show support?") instead of personal ones, unless the other person says they're okay with it. Remember that everyone (LGBTQIA+ or not) dresses, has relationships, talks, looks, feels and lives differently: we're all just people. If it is not your business when talking to an allo-hetero-cis, then it's not your business when talking to LGBTQIA+ people either.
It is okay to not know. As long as you're willing to learn and educate yourself, to be respectful, and to acknowledge past mistakes, it's okay. I don't know everything, but if you have any questions, I can try to answer them. Send me an ask and I'll do my best.
To any LGBTQIA+ person reading this, I know this month can be complicated. Keep in mind you don't owe anyhting to anyone. The most important thing is for you to be safe. The next most important thing is for you to be comfortable. You deserve to have both and so much more. Yes, the Industry takes advantage of Pride Month to sell stuff and look good. We can use it for visibility anyway. This is your chance to speak up if you're in the right place to do it. If you can't, or you don't feel comfortable doing it by yourself, you can send me an anonymous ask and I'll post it. If there's something you want to talk about, you can send an ask too. This is a safe space (as long as you're being respectful).
Also, this is Pride Month. It is very important to use it for activism, but that doesn't mean you shouldn't enjoy it. Have fun. Make art, memes and jokes about it. Wear rainbows and pride flags. Have a good time. Feel pride, happiness, excitement and whatever else you feel. You can be angry, hurt or sad too. You can be all at once, or none.
This blog is a safe space for everyone. If you can't find it in you to be respectful, you don't belong here. Otherwise, you're always welcome.

Intro Post + FAQ!?!?!?
STRIPES TRUTHERS DNI!!!!!!!! (this is a joke)
I'm not replacing my pinned post because I like my pinned post. it's special to me. it describes my blog in a single gif. but I'll link this in my bio.
hi! I think this was long overdue. first of all, introduction!
I'm pink! she/her, 19, filipino-chinese, 🇸🇬
I am an asexual sapphic on the aro spectrum! I'm not repulsed in either department though, I consider myself mostly sex-neutral and romance... idk, ambivalent irl, favourable in fiction.
keep in mind that hazbin hotel itself has a lot of explicit humour, so canon-typical level of that kind of humour should be expected here. however, outside of text-only nsfw jokes, I typically don't post or reblog nsfw art (and IF I did, I would use community labels/appropriate tags). I may also tag certain text-only nsfw joke posts as #suggestive, just as a precaution.
and now the FAQ...
FAQ
Other than one-sided RadioStatic, what do you ship?
Tumblr media
I've actually done this before, but decided I'd update it a bit.
cherrivel is only there because of the need for velvette to have someone at the hotel to be obsessed with, refer to this post. it is currently unserious and could easily never come up in my posts I just thought to include it because of that one time I brought it up. other crackships may come up if I find it funny (ie adam x mammon).
this shouldn't come as a surprise to anyone, I do not like any reciprocated romantic alastor ships, I'm not here to police anyone for what they do in fanon, but all I ask is no one send me anything of the sort. I interpret alastor as a repulsed aroace, and the dialogue in which his asexuality is implied in canon implies to me he would never pursue dating (rosie knows alastor wouldn't be dating charlie because he is aroace, which implies she knows he is an aroace that doesn't date**). so that is how I choose to portray alastor in my posts.
**TO BE CLEAR, there IS nuance to this. because action =/= attraction. funny situations such as a fake date with vox as a distraction that he doesn't like at ALL entertain me. but I do not believe he is the type to pursue it under normal circumstances.
regarding qprs... well, as you can see, I really only care for qpr radiorose, but this is the part where it comes down to personal preference. qpr radiostatic largely depends for me, maybe if it's like an au where they never had a falling out or something but otherwise, I don't personally really see it, but that isn't to judge anyone who does. HOWEVER, I do like thinking about their past friendship, here's a post I made before regarding alastor's side on it.
Who's your favourite character?
unfortunately, it is the stupid tv man in my pfp. alastor is my second favourite though if that's not immediately obvious (wow tumblr user @onesidedradiostatic's faves are vox and alastor who could've guessed?)
Do you know [insert pre-series information here]?
I need to clarify, I am NOT a pre-series hazbin fan. I only got into hazbin properly at episode 5-6's release, prior to that I had only watched episode 4 out of curiosity due to twitter discourse. any information I have regarding pre-series stuff comes from the wiki, tumblr posts or anons who have informed me of stuff. my main source of information is the main series, that is how I first consumed hazbin after all.
What the fuck is the "Lucifer's Commissions Saga"?
it all started with an anon talking about the most unrealistic thing about vox owning an alastor body pillow being that alastor was able to be printed on it without glitches. I then dropped a stupid idea I had in my head for a bit about lucifer being offered 50k to make a sexy alastor painting for vox. one reblog later. well. it turned into vox commissioning lucifer for the body pillow. and then a bunch of asks came in related to it and it turned into a saga which is now my legacy. feel free to scroll through this entire thing. also a fanfic of it by ChaoticAce2005 now exists. go check it out. AN ANIMATIC BASED ON ONE OF THE POSTS BY NATAKARANIA ALSO NOW EXISTS. CHECK THAT OUT TOO.
The original post mentions Val commissioning Lucifer for the art for Vox, Val is canonically a talented artist, why would he do that?
in my defence, I kinda forgot about that when I posted the original joke. later asks, I've mended that val HAS drawn for vox before but vox nitpicked too much and val's not always willing to do a fully rendered sexy alastor... so vox has to outsource. and he just happens to do so to the king of hell.
Hey, hey, listen! What if Vox doesn't have a crush on Alastor but wants XXX instead!?
hey, I respect you! I respect your opinion and hc. but this blog is built around that concept specifically, I like vox wanting something he can never have, wanting romance from a guy who literally cannot feel the same way about him. so I'm probably not gonna be as passionate about other takes. but your opinion is valid! I'm just not really sure what you want me to say other than respectfully disagreeing.
Why don't you use RadioSilence for one-sided RadioStatic?
radio silence is the name of another book made by the author of heartstopper, alice oseman (which I heard also has a canon aspec character!). even though it is already a used tag for this ship, I refuse to contribute to flooding the book tag with hazbin hotel. it's already an issue I see even when searching #radio silence with the space, I think those in that fandom should be allowed to search for content without being flooded by content from another fandom. please understand.
I instead use #onewaybroadcast in accordance with this poll. I still use the regular #radiostatic and #staticradio tags in addition to it for more reach and because vox's side still technically counts under it, if anyone doesn't like specifically one-sided radiostatic for whatever reason, they may filter out the specific tag or block me.
read more about the tagging issue here
Why haven't you answered my ask?
you see. once upon a time I used to answer every ask in my askbox. but then trying to come up with intelligent responses to every single ask was kind of draining so I gave up on that. so nowadays I just answer whatever I feel like, if you don't see your ask answered for a while it may still be answered later cause I do go back to old asks sometimes (and sometimes I just forget about asks I'd wanted to answer before). currently my askbox stands at 180ish unanswered asks going back to as early as end of february, that's how much I kinda just gave up trying to clear my askbox. DON'T be discouraged from sending new asks though! I'm actually more likely to answer new ones that I'm able to form a response for immediately.
Wait, I checked your time zone, why are you posting at 2-5am?
I haven't had a normal sleep schedule for like at least 4 years now, don't think too hard about it. and don't rely on my time zone for my active hours, I could be active at literally any hour 😁👍
Can I write a fic about [insert idea posted on this blog before]?
OF COURSE!!! I would actually be honoured if you did!! credit for the idea would be appreciated (although it depends if it's mostly me or my anons' ideas, sometimes it's a combined effort), but otherwise go ahead! and do send it to me if you please, if I have the time or motivation I may read it!
-------------------------------
more may be added at a later time, but this is what I can come up with for now. I've been holding back on this for a while, trying to phrase every single little thing with tact, just understand that a lot of it is personal opinion!

Hey Nightmare! I replayed your game recently and wanted to explain why I chose music in the survey. I love the game on almost all of its sides, and a lot of them just stayed with me. The sprites are so afshsg, Keith's smug expression portrays a lot of the character that I saw in the blog when he gains confidence. His jealous/worried expression frightens me because he looks very unstable. And about Tene, he really looks like the socially awkward /and dangerous/ dork he is. I can see when he's nervous and when he's relaxed. I can read his face and not misunderstand when making choices around him. Their sprites are more than good for me, they're charming. If I have to be picky I'd say maybe the backgrounds could improve. The characters don't mix well with it, but sometimes that's good because contrast;; and also gives you a mysterious, foggy vibe like everything is just a bad dream and you don't know what is going to happen.
I love the writing too, especially the last date! I got the scary vibe (and the fae painting was great!), it gave me chills. The writing stays with me during my daily life, I love the dialogues and I repeat them all through my brain. I like how you show things, imply things instead of just saying them. I like that the MC is smart enough to know what to do in different, unexpected situations. If anything, I think you could make that feel more natural. For example, sometimes you can choose "I'm not scared" after a scene that freaked your character out. Maybe make us choose the option earlier and show during different scenes how the MC is not scared, that way MC's acts match their words. Still, the writing is awesome for me. The romantic scenes just make me all giddy amdjsk, I wouldn't change a thing about that, and the MC's options during them (i like that I have the option to say I'd put a collar on tenebris, and you can also not be into that just bc tene is). But ofc changing the writing and art is up to you! I shouldn't mention this because it's evident but it's your game and more important than making a game that people will enjoy is making a game that you'll enjoy making and you're satisfied with!
My point is (sorry that was long!) the only thing I don't remember after closing the game is the music. I slightly remember Tene's main theme (which I find funny when it starts playing because it's like HELL YES TENE IS HERE TO MAKE TROUBLEEEE BABY) but the rest doesn't really stick with me. This doesn't mean it's bad, it's actually good but I know it could be better, it could add a lot more than it does. There are some moments when the music goes off (like the first date) which I don't think is a good moment to go off because you usually get worried/scared when that happens. Walking home after the date during night should feel more tiring and nostalgic, yet romantic. There should be a way to differentiate a happy charming, magical night with the boys from a calm, nostalgic nightly path. And if there's a way to add more life to a VN, that's music! It doesn't have to be a masterpiece, but feel more 'full of life' if you get me.
I hope my review is useful and not bothering agshsgs. This is all me trying hard to find things that could be better. The demo is already so so good as it is! I was surprised to see the survey in the first place when you're already doing great and hard work. If you have to point a gun at me to choose, music is my choice. I think a lot of VNs underestimate it (not that I think you do!). I say this as a person who used to undervalue music, I can draw and write but cannot make music to save my life, I suck at it 😭 but now I wouldn't be satisfied until finding the perfect piece.
Take what I say with a grain of salt Nightmare!! Thank you for giving us this masterpiece already. 🙇 Hope you're doing great!!
Hi! Thank you for your feedback and for all the praise! 💕
Honestly, I absolutely get where you're coming from in terms of the music. But sadly, music is something I can't do all that much about. I don't have the budget to hire a composer, so I'm stuck with using whatever royalty free music I can find. I will try to plan it out a little better in terms of when certain tracks play, though!

Talk Garden Vol.10‼︎〜Stories About Your Father/Rainy Season Precautions! Yokosuka Ghibli Edition Part 1〜
Vol.#10 of Wakana's Talk Garden has been uploaded~😊We have successfully reached a big milestone, the 10 episode mark‼︎ It's all thanks to everyone who always listens and sends submissions…✨I am very grateful😊 I would like to continue posting my podcast at a leisurely pace, so please look forward to future episodes‼︎‼︎\\\٩( 'ω' )و ////
One of the topics for this episode was "Measures against the rainy season". Here's my favourite umbrella which I talked about in the podcast☂️💕It's very cute. I want to use it a lot during the upcoming rainy season🙄Someone mentioned in their message that "the air pressure during the rainy season is tough." I feel the same. During this time of year, the air pressure and humidity are likely to make you lose your energy. Don't forget to stay hydrated and it's best to do some light exercises to get through the rainy season in good health! 🥺
And since it is also Father's Day, I wanted everyone submit "Stories about your father" as a second topic for the podcast. By the way, I had completely forgotten, but my father was really into magic 😅He liked to do magic tricks with cars ♧♤♡♢Here is his very own card set. He would always bring out playing cards and perform some tricks wherever he was. He would even do little performances in front of my friends 😂He never let me in on the mechanics behind his tricks but he was definitely really good. Now I really want to see my dad's magic again 😊One day when I get to see him again, I'll ask him to show me~💫
So, for the next episode of "Wakana's Talk Garden" on July 10th, there will be no specific talk topic. You are free to submit anything you want me to talk about or you want to ask me・:*+.(( °ω° ))/.:+ The deadline is June 30th!! Please send your submissions!! \\\٩( 'ω' )و /// Thank you so much to everyone who sent messages this time!!!
Now, I would like to talk some more about my trip to Yokosuka‼️⛱🏄🌊I already talked about it in my podcast so in this blog post I want to share some photos from the first big part of my trip when I visited the "Toshio Suzuki and Ghibli Exhibition" held at Yokosuka Museum of Art! (I'll post about my experience in Sarushima=Monkey Island in a few days!!) Speaking of Ghibli, some people were curious if I had gone to the Ghibli exhibition so yes, you finally have your answer😊 You are greeted by Chihiro at the entrance. My excitement skyrocketed right from the start😊The curtain leads to an exhibition of 8,800 books displayed in a huge bookshelf. Each book is believed to have influenced Suzuki in some way. Another source of inspiration is his collection of movies which contains a whopping 10,000 films. I was surprised at the number of movies, he must have absorbed so much information from all these works. I want to become a part of the Suzuki family. It's cut off, but at the top of the photo there is Teto's beautifully drawn paw. I also really liked the drawing at the bottom center signed with "Miya-SAN on the Cliff by the Sea". Then I I met Totoro and his friends surrounded by a starry sky♡ I should have taken this photo with an umbrella~😭Here I am looking up at The Bathhouse with Chihiro. While I was there, I imagined Haku getting mad at me and telling me to get back right away because I shouldn't have come! Next I got myself one of Yubaba's fortune telling slips. What an impact😂 You pull out a numbered tag from Yubaba's mouth and then take your fortune slip from the drawer according to the number. It looked like I was trying to floss Yubaba's teeth. I got a half-blessing related to tidying up and becoming clutter-free. Last but not least, I enjoyed the wide and open sky on the rooftop 😂
This time, I bought a file, a letter set, a keychain, and postcards at the souvenir shop 😊 I love the keychain of San's mask😍 I will send one of these postcards to everyone whose messages I've read during the podcast😊 ...And with that my Ghibli story comes to an end. Or not!! Actually, my Ghibli adventure isn't over yet😇 I still have a few Ghibli photos and stories left so I will post a Part 2 some time soon!! I also have a story about a crazy stamp rally that felt like a sports competition😂
All right, I'll leave it at that for today!! Until next time~☆( '▽')/

My pet peeves of being an average Hazbin Hotel fan:
•The hatedom: The hate and negativity towards the show and Viv honestly gets under my skin. Like it's totally fine if you simply dislike it and let people enjoy things that are not your cup of tea, but if you seriously HATE this show and the creators other work with a BURNING passion, I suggest that you don't interact with my blog or maybe even block the tags and stuff. Like, if you despise Viv, just ignore her stuff and move on with your day.
•Redesigns: Redesigning/reimagining characters can be a great thing for putting your own twist in them. Also for character design practice, expressing creativity, and for having fun. However, it can also be used out of pure hate, saying they "FIXED" them, or saying that their art is "BETTER" than Viv's which bothers me a little. Saying "OMG THIS LOOKS SOOOO MUCH BETTER THAN THE ORIGINAL" "I REALLY PREFER THIS DESIGN THAN VIV'S. SHE LITERALLY CAN'T DO CHARACTER DESIGN FOR SHIT!" "LOOKS SO MUCH BETTER OMGGG!"🙄Like, you can still critique the designs of the characters while being respectful and constructive, that's fine. I have a few critiques myself actually.
•Vivziepop: Vivzie is one of my favorite artists. Her art really inspired me so much ngl. But I'm very aware that she's flawed and not perfect. I hate when people dig up all of her controversies just to make her a villain and make her look bad. I really don't. She also responded to criticisms from antis on Twitter. In my opinion, I don't think she should've replied to them. It could be draining and also unhealthy for her mental health. I'm honestly worried for her. Maybe she should hire a social media manager or something idk. I very much care about her well-being. And some even don't support her because of her controversies.
I know you can like a show, but not the creator. I like Viv. I only support her dreams and achievements for making awesome cartoons, but maybe not her as a person. I hope she can improve and do better so she wouldn't receive any more hate.
•Guilt: Every time I see so much bashing and negativity towards Hazbin or Helluva, I would end up dwelling on it, feeling extremely guilty, ashamed, embarrassed for being a little fan. It can be very draining for me and a risk for my mental health if I constantly dwell and soak up their negative opinions. And I hate that feeling. It makes me question why I shouldn't enjoy the things I love. And it hurts.
So yeah..I don't normally post things like this, but I just needed to get that out of my system. Don't worry, I'm okay.❤️😊

I know this isn't the theme of my blog but as 1.) a genderqueer person, who 2.) has a media studies degree, I want to talk real quick about JK Rowling, the idea of separating art from the artist, and why you literally cannot consume media created by JKR without contributing to real harm against real people.
First let's talk about Death of the Author, because I see a lot of people misusing it online. Death of the Author is a theory from postmodern literary criticism that basically says that an author's intentions and personal beliefs shouldn't impact how readers interpret their work. Basically, this means that the author's own interpretation of the work is just as valid as any reader's interpretation, and vice versa.
Critics who subscribe to Death of the Author believe a work should only be judged by what actually appears in the text, not by what the author later claims it "really meant." So if, for example, an author becomes radicalized after publishing her books and later claims that her racist, pseudo-fascist villains were secretly a metaphor for trans people, Death of the Author would tell you that interpretation is utter bullshit and doesn't magically become canon just because the author said it.
I see a lot of people online equate Death of the Author with the concept of "separating art from the artist," but these are separate concepts. Death of the Author just means that the author's own interpretation of their work isn't any more valid than the audience's. Separating art from artist means we as an audience can appreciate a person's artistic achievements without condoning all of their actions and beliefs. So, for example, I can appreciate that HP Lovecraft revolutionized horror fiction while also acknowledging that he was horrifically racist -- and me condemning his racism doesn't change how influential his work was.
Setting aside that there's a huge debate over whether it's even possible to separate art from artist, the main difference between HP Lovecraft and JKR is that Lovecraft is dead and has in fact been dead for so long that his work is in the public domain. That means no matter how many times I read his work, watch films based on his stories, or talk about his role in the history of modern horror fiction, he doesn't make a penny. Whether I engage with his work or not does not change the fact that Lovecraft is dead and is not getting any money from me.
JKR very much is making money off people engaging with her work, and she's openly using that money to hurt people. (See here, here, here) As long as she's raking in Harry Potter dollars, she is going to keep turning around and funneling them into hate.
I don't want this post to get too long, so here's a quick rundown of some of the defenses I've seen and why they don't work:
"I only watch the movies on streaming services! I've already paid for the subscription, so it doesn't matter what I watch with it." That's not how streaming services work. Streaming services track views to determine what content is worth throwing more money at. This is why "hate watching" makes no sense. Streaming services don't care if you like what you watch. They only care about how many viewers it brings in, and if something gets a lot of watchers, they're going to renew contracts, greenlight sequels and spinoffs, and give more royalties to the creator.
"I only watch the movies when they run on cable." Again, not how this works. Like streaming services, cable networks track views to determine what programs are bringing in the most viewers. The reason these networks run the HP movies so often is because they know people will tune in to watch, which makes them more money. They're going to keep paying for rights to run these movies until they stop bringing in viewers.
"I checked out the books from my library! I thought we were supposed to support our local libraries!" In general, yes, libraries are great, but they also operate on supply and demand. That means if books are consistently checked out and have a long wait list, the library is much more likely to order new copies to meet the demand.
"I grew up on Harry Potter."/"It's my favorite book series."/Other appeals to nostalgia. Thankfully, the HP books genuinely don't actually do anything that hadn't already been done well, if not better, by other authors. If you're craving fictional wizard schools, allow me to recommend Equal Rites by Terry Pratchett and A Wizard of Earthsea by Ursula K. Le Guin.
Last but not least, I want to remind everyone that JKR also publishes adult fiction under the pen name Robert Galbraith. Don't buy, rent, or borrow Galbraith books either.

fanfiction being bad is actually a good thing
sorry that one post has just put me into a musing mood abt like. the way people respond to "bad writing" in fanfiction. so i have written a little essay xx
anyway. first off, any measure of "bad writing" is going to be inherently subjective, whether or not people want to acknowledge that. no matter what critera you use to try and claim that ur measure is more "objective," you will still be able to find published fiction that does not meet those criteria, which is part of the reason that i think it is ridiculous in the first place to act as though "book" and "fanfiction" are two diametrically opposed categories of literature in which "book" = good writing and "fanfiction" = bad writing such that the only way to express a book is bad is to claim it's "more like fanfiction than a book" and the only way to elevate fanfiction is to claim that it's "more like a book than fanfiction." and of course there are all the underlying issues with classism racism ableism etc when buying into the myth of the meritocracy of publishing.
but even acknowledging that any measure of "bad writing" is going to be subjective, i don't think it's unfair to cultivate your own standards for what makes writing good versus bad. everyone is going to do that anyway, so what's more important to me is that a person understands what factors are influencing their measurement and acknowledges the subjectivity inherent to this sort of critique. and i do think, generally speaking, that media which exists within a profit economy is fair game for critique as to whether it is "good" or "bad," as i have talked about before on my blog. and i think depending on what criteria you are using to define bad, there will be instances where it makes more or less sense to make normative judgments about the popularity of such media. for example--if someone says "marvel movies shouldn't [normative judgment] be so popular because the writing is cringey," i find that a less compelling argument than "marvel movies shouldn't be so popular because they are military propaganda."
but i don't think that sort of critique about whether writing is "good" or "bad" has a place in fanfiction spaces. aside from the fact that fanfiction exists primarily outside of any profit economy, the reason that you will likely encounter more "bad" writing in fanfiction is that it's a space where many people are actively learning how to write--and that's a good thing. the only way for someone to become a good writer is to do a lot of bad writing first, so i actually think it's great that there's a bunch of shitty fanfiction out there on the internet--every bad fic u come across is a developing writer who's honing their craft, and they've found a perfect space to do so.
and yet i see "bad writing" get brought up a lot regarding fanfiction in two specific ways.
1. the idea outlined above, where people devalue fanfiction as a whole and act as though "fanfiction" is synonymous with "bad writing" or somehow an inferior medium.
i see this happening both with people who scoff at fanfiction and with people who try to redeem or elevate fanfiction by placing it in closer proximity to published books (i.e., THIS fic isn't like those other, shitty fics! this one is as good as [insert classic novel/published author/etc here]!!").
quite frankly i think this is evidence that these people have bought wholeheartedly into the publishing industry's myth of meritocracy, something that we should seriously question. but if anything, i also find it sad because i think it is a very limiting way to view fanfiction, which is its own unique art form in my opinion. fanfiction has its own conventions and strengths independent of published fiction, and there are many stylistic and structural elements unique to fanfiction that just don't really work in published books. for example--those 15k oneshots you'll come across every so often with lowercase song titles and prose that kicks your teeth in. that is a style of writing that is pretty unique to fanfic. or those sprawling, 400k+ works where tons of time is spent meandering through characters' lives and relationships--those, too, are somewhat unique to fanfiction, as in published books stories tend to get pared down more. i think those who want to convince people that fanfiction is good should spend less time trying to place it in proximity to published fiction and more time considering how fanfiction functions as a unique art form that is worthy of merit thanks to its uniquity
2. people who throw a fit when they see a fanfic with "bad writing" get attention and praise. usually i see this happen if a fic gets some measure of popularity--suddenly, people will begin to pop up talking about how the fic has "bad writing," and therefore shouldn't be popular.
i think that what gets me with these folks, aside from how obviously their own subjectivity regarding what makes writing good or bad has gone unexamined, is how....vindictive they seem. as if the idea that something they deem "bad" writing could ever be widely enjoyed is personally offensive to them. and i just think this sort of behavior is so stupid for two reasons--first, of course, there is the obvious issue of subjectivity. even if you think something is badly written, your opinion isn't somehow more important to the world than everyone else's. if other people are enjoying a fic, clearly they do not agree with your subjective opinion, and that's fine! you don't have to read a fic if you don't like it, and you can let other people enjoy the story. they are reading the exact same writing as you, and they can draw their own independent conclusions about how good or bad they think it is.
but second--you are not doing anyone any good by screaming about how bad a fic's writing is. like. i think there is perhaps this idea of like "oh this writer is bad but their writing is popular and everyone is telling them it's good, which means they are going to think their bad writing is good and keep writing badly forever." which, again, disregarding the obvious subjectivity, i just....don't think is true. like--if someone is writing badly, and people are going "hey i like this story keep it up!" what will most likely happen is that that person will keep writing, developing their skill the more they write and becoming a better writer. like, it's pretty difficult for writing to just remain stagnant; your writing will change the more you write, inevitably. especially when it comes to fanfiction, where many people are, again, developing their writing skill. but if someone is writing badly, and people are going "boo this sucks!" that writer is much less likely to do the actual thing that would make their writing better (keep writing) and instead more likely to just. stop altogether. in which case it's just like--congratulations on removing some more art from the world! cunt.
anyway. the conclusion i am trying to get at here is that i think people need to stop being so preoccupied with "bad writing" in fanfiction spaces. it's impossible to objectively measure the "goodness" or "badness" of writing in the first place, and trying to do so for any purpose other than making personal decisions about whether you want to read something or like, discussing in private groupchats with friends, usually just results in driving developing writers away from writing entirely and promoting the myth of meritocracy in publishing such that we reify the book/fanfiction dichotomy in which fanfiction will always be assumed to be inferior.

okay so I'm gonna share my personal experience with you. Im 29 and two years ago I ended a relationship with my former boyfriend. We dated for 5 years. I overromanticised every single aspect of that relationship and told people that we're totally fine even if I knew deep down that that wasn't true but I guess I never realised it back then because I was so caught up in that lavender haze (no pun intended). only when I got out of that relationship I realised that those 5 years were the absolute hell and it was just me being too optimistic about everything. That being said, if Taylor feels that way too (which we don't know! And we shouldn't because it's not us!) I get her changing those songs because idk maybe she sees the song lover as something else now (that it actually was never that good) BUT she should know better to not put it out in the world like that. She knows her power and influence and she knows her massive fanbase that will eat this shit up. She's allowed to feel like that but she shouldn't make it public. That's what these people need to realise. None of us is telling her she isn't allowed to feel how she feels but she shouldn't force all that information onto us because she's in her 30s and at that age you should know better what your rabid fanbase will do with that information.
Anyways! I love you and your blog and I hope you don't take all the hateful messages you're getting right now too much on your heart, I appreciate you and your opinions very much Sarah, I hope you have a lovely day🤍
yes exactly! lets use the hypothetical scenario that you brought up: lets say your situation is what taylor is going through and she wrote a song on ttpd that has a lot of ties to lover but references how she feels now, like there are parallels to how she used to feel vs now. that's great! thats a beautiful and common practice, if she were to do that it would also be very mature of her to be aware of how immature her fanbase is and do something like ariana grande did with her album and post something like this:
Tumblr media
her expressing and processing her emotions through her art while also corralling her crazy fanbase and trying to prevent them from harassing and hurting people would be great, but instead, she's pointing out old love songs and being like 'no this song is actually about ignoring red flags' and changing the entire identity based on how she feels at any given moment, while also riling up her fanbase even more is just messy.

I think that last anon was incredibly rude and very, very suspicious. I'm also a fat person, and I think your art is just fine the way it is.
This anon accuses you of having a fat fetish for using peach to shade, doesn't give you the name of the artist they think you're emulating, and then tell you (not asking politely, on your own blog where they are a guest, TELL) you to put body hair on Miku.
Not to mention, why are they recognizing a style from a fat fetish artist if they aren't on the fat fetish side of twitter themselves, enough to have picked up on this supposed artist's style, down to the shading?
Sure, Twitter is wild, you'll see plenty of things you aren't necessarily looking for, but this reads as someone who is trying very hard not to let you see them sweating. What are they doing at the devil's sacrament, pointing out all of the sinners there, tactfully not pointing at themselves as one of the people included amongst the crowd.
If they didn't say "teehee I'm a fat girl btw <33 nasty nasty fetishists <33" at the end, wouldn't you think this message is situationally inappropriate? This is the internet, this person is anonymous, and that means they can lie if they feel like it.
You shouldn't even believe me or care when I say I'm fat, because I too am anonymous, and you simply can't fact check me. Even off anon, I don't share pictures of myself online, because I know better than to trust the internet at large.
If they are not outright malicious
(people will do this when they themselves fetishize fat women for the sake of getting art they think is hot; kind of like people saying "fat women can't be sexy" so fat women will post suggestive pictures of themselves to prove the statement incorrect, especially so they can pick and choose through which images they like. This is Creep Behavior, to use negging to manipulate people into sharing racey pictures)
then they are outright very, very rude, despite their friendly tone. This is YOUR blog, your art is fantastic, and nobody should be coming into your house, telling you how to run things.
Personally, I think the shapes and textures you draw are aesthetically pleasing, and your color choices always go together very nicely, especially when pink and green can clash really bad if you're not careful. Please don't let some misguided person (or worse, a creep) tell you what to do. You've gotten as far as you have on your own just fine, because you're doing your own thing.
In your response to anon, you said
"I find it weird that when a “normal” character is posed something suggestive its just a drawing but when added a bit weight it becomes a “fetish” ????"
and I could not agree with you more.
Why is it a fetish that Miku is fat? I look an awful lot like her, and it's nice to be represented in art, suggestive or otherwise. Why is this person coming at you like you're a freak pervert that needs to be corrected, when you're just drawing a character?
Why is fat considered inherently unattractive, the only people allowed to enjoy it being (implied) nasty, disgusting, morally deficit fetishists, when "normal" or "skinny" body types are left alone? Why are we treating body fat as morally reprehensible, and not just a thing people sometimes have?
If this person really is fat, they have a lot of internalized fatphobia to let go of, and if they're a fetishist they need to learn better manners.
And thank you, for being generous enough to share your art with the world. Sorry for the lengthy message as well. Your Miku is very cute, and I look forwards to seeing more of your art in the future :]
- 🐺🕷️ (Wolf Spider Anon)
Ive been self debating and doubting if what I’m doing is bad or that Ive done something wrong especially on illustrating her in a suggestive manner
Thank you for understanding my view. The reply timing is off as I’m still trying to understand myself if my coloring it self was wrong… are my poses off? Is it rude to draw her like this? I didnt take the anon’s comment as rude but i did feel some guilt that i feel i shouldnt have? Man i dont understand I’m dumb when it comes to these sort of stuff. I just answered truthfully on thoughts about that. All I know is I enjoy painting her, suggestively, happy, innocently or cute! I just like drawing her. Youll see more of her in blog hopefully :D

Maybe this is "chronically online" of me but I feel it's disrespectful, or at least tone deaf to be posting about films made in "israel". Maybe you could skip them at least for the time being, if not disregard them entirely? Given the ongoing genocide, it puts a bad taste in my mouth to see things they've made be put up without any sort of acknowledgement of it or anything. I don't believe it's a political statement or whatever (and this isn't meant to be a call-out) it just seems weird. Cheers for considering it if you do.
I'd like to first make a reminder, that this answer is exclusively written by mod Sus only, and should not be considered as entire blog's or other mods' (or its original mod's) collective opinion. They can make their own statement if wishing so, but I take the full responsibility for this answer.
I don't think you can make this kind of topic apolitical considering what it involves and touches. If you make a statement about something that involves something as heavy as war, it's going to be political.
It's not like the thought of "is this right thing to do?" hasn't ever occured my mind when I've seen these movies in queue and their country of origin is Israel. But I, personally, have been looking at this topic through the lenses of "separaring art from the artist." Movies are a form of art, and they are made by the groups of invidiuals with their own ideas and views. While I do understand the idea of not wanting to give an artist, group or in this case, a country, visibility and wanting to boycott them, I don't think it can't really be applied in art. Not if the said problematic target is not even the one who created it or benefiting from it. These israeli people who made these movies are not their goverment. These movies were made before the current political climate boom (the conflict itself has been going on for longer than some of us are old) by individual people because they wanted to create. The country or the people causing the fuckery are not benefiting from the visibility enough to make it matter.
That being said, I think trying to ignore or erase something that's not directly related to the problematic thing in attempt to not support it is the laziest from of activitism. It's "boycott everything russian" again. Us refusing to acknowledge these movies made by people who are not benefiting their country does not help people in need and facing horrible, awful things in their own home.
This is under no circumstances, in any form, meant to be taken as supporting the genocide, Israel or to erase the existence of the conflict and genocide going on. As much as here in the horror circles we love joking about violence and killing, causing deaths of any real life people is awful and one of the most unacceptable things there can be. We acknowledge there's horrible things going on in the world and don't want it to be not acknowledged. But this is not a place for that.
Art, that was not made to reflect and represent those awful times, should not be the victim of sins of someone who didn't create it. The artists should not be the victims of sins of their group. The movie creators and their creations shouldn't be blamed for awful acts their goverment makes. Blaming them does not help the people that are the real victims.
I'd like to imagine Tumblr, as a social media site, as a place of escapism. This might of course not be same for everyone, but when I come into Tumblr, that's when I want to leave all the real world news behind and just enjoy things I like without remembering world has awful things in it. This is a mere small, independent horror movie tumblr blog, where we encourage people to talk about movies and horror genre. I'd wish we could leave as much of these heavy real-life topics outside the blog and posts we make, even if they are good to be acknowledged. (Now if other mods of course want to be the ones to discuss these things, they can. I'm not taking part of them.)
Now, what you can do if you don't want to see movies that were made in Israel by israelis?
We tag movies by country of origin, using Wikipedia as source for these. You can block "israel" tag to avoid seeing them. You can not vote in the poll. If following a blog that allows Israeli movies to be published in it, you can unfollow us. Curate your own social media feed. If you see something you're uncomfortable with, erase that from your own exposure.
As the final statement, as a singular person in the Internet. You don't have to agree with me and in places like Tumblr or anything, I don't think we can agree with everything. But the kind of black-white thinking, where you think everything with any kind of connection to problematic thing is bad and people attached to it are bad, is not healthy. It will make you stay on your toes all the time, and it's not flexible way of thinking. You're not going to make it in the world if you see everything inside it only that way.
Focus on what matters. If you're going to fight, fight the actual enemy, not the gravel under its shadow.

Tumblr media
Hello, pile one!
Right off the bat, you're someone who is incredibly strong. Perhaps that's why you were drawn to Chihiro? Regardless, you are known to be strong in moments that are intense and stress-inducing. This is a great trait to have, and I don't believe that this is something you need to change in order to be free.
In fact, I think you're quite ahead of others. I believe that this quality about you is bringing you closer to your goals.
You're someone who has achieved anything they put their mind to, but I don't think you believe this about yourself. You may be reading this and thinking, "What? Me?" You may not believe in yourself the way others believe in you. Which, frankly, is absurd considering how incredibly powerful you are.
You'll never achieve your fullest potential if you never recognize your good qualities, and I assure you — there's a lot.
You're someone who's felt as if they've had to fight for their existence. You've had to fight for love, acknowledgement, and consideration. Nothing has come easy for you like it has for others. Yes, this has made you stronger, but it's also something you shouldn't have had to go through. You shouldn't have had to seclude yourself and teach yourself things that others wouldn't bother to do. Yes, you are strong — but it came with a price.
You may also be someone who compares yourself to others a lot. You weigh your "greatness" with theirs. You weigh your worth as if you were sitting on a seesaw with a friend. You look down at them, swaying your legs slightly. You both exchange compliments, but you know they don't mean theirs. You rub your arm sheepishly, wanting this exchange to end because you don't feel worthy of their words.
Although that's where you're wrong, you're incredibly unique. You need to learn how to appreciate yourself for who you are, not who you desire to be. People are individuals, and despite the fact that some may seem "better" than the rest, we're all trying to get through our struggles.
You need to look within yourself and find out why you feel you're not good enough. Perhaps it's due to some past experiences with friends and/or family. Regardless, there is something inside of you that's not letting you love yourself.
Decide whether you need to nurture it or destroy it.
I want to mention that freedom doesn't mean the same thing for everyone. For pile one, I believe that you are freeing yourself from your mental restrictions. You'll be free of your need to please people and of others’ opinions weighing on you.
Now, when you've decided what to do, I see a lot of success ahead. Not only spiritually, but mentally too. Your experiences may have been hard to deal with, and it's a shame you need to pick up the pieces, but when you do, you will feel more at peace. I believe in you. You can do this!
Another thing is that you may need to watch those who you consider your friends. They may not be as genuine as you believe, and this is limiting you.
You're someone who's sweet. You're a giver, and people love to take advantage of those who are compassionate. Your time is expensive. People should be willing to put effort into you. Your friendships should be mutual. You shouldn't have to put all the effort in only to get crumbs in return.
More importantly, you need to become more protective of your energy. A person's energy is one of the most, if not the most, important things a being can have. Your energy and your peace need to be protected. You need to learn how to be “selfish.” You're willing to sacrifice parts of yourself for others, and I think we're both aware of how unhealthy that is. Don't change yourself for others solely because they don't like who you are as a person. There are billions of people on planet Earth, and I promise you'll meet people who appreciate you for who you are.
Pay attention to your personal needs and desires. Do you feel like answering that text right now? No? Then don't. They can wait. Don't allow yourself to be pressured by your own self-consciousness.
You need to let go of your past to rebuild your future. You may have been betrayed in the past, and you need to heal from that. You allow your past experiences to affect your current relationships. Those people who hurt you were horrible, but they can't hurt you anymore. Allow yourself to learn how to feel safe. You deserve more than anything to be at peace.
Overall, you need to allow yourself to be happy. You need to work on healing yourself so you can finally be happy. Be yourself, and love yourself for doing so. Don't allow others' projections to get the best of you. You are strong, but you deserve rest. You deserve to have someone hold you close and keep you warm. Allow others to do that for you.. and if they still betray you? Cut them out. Learn how to be true to yourself and catch yourself if you're not being cared for. Improve your standards and your idea of what you're worthy of. Take care of yourself, and allow your mind to be at peace.
Tumblr media
Hihi, pile two!
You're someone artistic, I believe. Your perspective on the world is beautiful. You're creative and perhaps confident? If not, you definitely radiate confidence, so don't worry about that. You may be brave, and you know your needs and wants.
Although you are brave, I think that only comes out when you're defending another person — perhaps your close friends? Regardless, when you are in intense situations that involve you specifically, you're polite and neutral. You try to ease the conflict before it gets out of hand. This might lead to others walking over you, but you don't take it personally. You're true to yourself, but privately. You don't need other people to know your true thoughts if you understand yourself. You're independent. You'd be content with being alone.
You're also strategic. You don't act before thinking. You take time to think your options through, and you won't let your emotions get the best of you. Yet, I can't shake the feeling that you may be forcing yourself to do this. Yes, you believe that this is the most reasonable answer, but it comes with sacrificing your own feelings. Sometimes it's best to be emotional and allow fights to get out of control. You don't need to be the mediator every time a conflict arises. You deserve to be upset and make others aware of it.
You always lend a hand to those who need it, so why not let them do the same for you? Are you worried they'll see a part of you that you're ashamed of? Let go of your pride. Allow yourself to be in embarrassing and emotional situations.
You may be someone who is always working towards being a better person. I honestly think you may be an overworker in general. Working makes you feel as if you're making progress. You can't sit still without knowing you're doing something productive. You always set goals for yourself. You overexert yourself because you need to be doing something at all times. You must allow yourself to rest. I promise you won't miss any opportunities if you take a nap or do something you enjoy doing. Time is in your hands, and it'll wait for you.
As shifters, we have all the time we could dream of. Don't worry about it; you'll be okay.
Due to your overworking tendencies, you're stressed and worn out. You need to separate yourself from your situation in any way you can. You need to allow yourself a few moments of peace so you can just... think. Allow yourself to breathe.
Hold yourself tightly; you're the only “you” you'll get. Don't ignore what your body needs. You truly value your own company, but you work yourself to the bone. Take time out of your day to be kinder to yourself.
Being independent doesn't mean you don't need the support of others. It may be hard for you to let your walls down and seek help, but that's something all humans need. Trust more. I believe that you truly do enjoy your own presence, but you make me think that you're the only one you can trust. Humans can be deceptive, yes, but you must take a leap of faith. If you're afraid of missing out on opportunities, why would you limit yourself to those around you? Take advantage of your resources.
You may currently be burned out and unsure of what your next step is. In our shifting journeys, we're not always certain what our next step is, so we're often left in the unknown. Despite these circumstances, we try our best not to give up hope. The truth is, your current mental state needs to be dealt with before you can make any new progress. You need to pick up the pieces before you can put a vase back together. Allow yourself to recollect.
Overall, you need to be more patient with yourself and allow your walls to come down a bit. I mean, I don't expect you to walk up to others and tell them your life story, but you should at least try opening up some more. It doesn't have to be much. I think the interpretation of freedom for this pile is for you to determine, but if I had to guess, you deserve to be freed of your own overworking tendencies, and you deserve to take some weight off your chest. Please, rest up. You need it.
Tumblr media
Hey, pile three!
You're someone who doesn't want to follow the rules, and you hate being restricted by anyone or anything. I have a feeling you need to control every aspect of your shifting journey. You may be constantly asking for divination so you can feel a sense of control. Which honestly reminds me of no face due to the fact he lets his greed get the best of him and demands more gold.
You're way too dependent on divination. You need to let go. Things will work out the way they work out. You don't need to be in control all the time. Sure, it's scary not knowing where you stand in your shifting journey, but life isn't all about finding answers.
You may be wondering what you should do instead. Well, enjoy your journey, because it's supposed to be fun. Take a moment to think about how far you've come. Don't ignore your achievements; you've come a long way. No shifting journey is linear. You'll make progress, and then you won't. There's nothing to stress about, we'll all shift eventually.
You may be a bit obsessed with your DR, and that's normal. We're shifters for a reason, you know? We all want to get out of this reality, but sometimes to make progress, we need to have a clear mind. To have a clear head, we must give ourselves time.
Another thing I want to note is that you don't have to try to shift every night. You may feel that if you don't try tonight, you'll miss your chance. As I've already mentioned, we have time. We're allowed to take breaks — we need to take breaks.
I have a feeling you have a lot of emotional turmoil when it comes to shifting. Your journey is a lot more stressful and intense than it needs to be. You might have some limiting beliefs that you can't get out of your head. Your fears are consuming you. You need to calm down and rest.
Shifting shouldn't give us anxiety or self-doubt; shifting should inspire us. Anything is impossible, and if it's just a matter of time, then I believe it's worth it, do you? Think about it: lifetimes from now, we won't even remember the struggles we experienced in this reality. All of this will be a faded memory. Think of the possibilities, not the restrictions.
Perhaps you need to take a moment and let all of your emotions out. You could put on some music and just… cry. It's okay. Shifting is frustrating. You're left in the dark, and that makes you angry. I understand. If I could sit you down, hold your hand, and tell you everything was going to be okay, I would because it is.
If you don't know what to do, seek advice from yourself. Listen to that little voice in your head. You need to stop depending on others and start going to yourself, regardless of whether or not you do divination yourself or seek it from others. You need to begin relying on your own intuition and inner voice. You're incredibly wise, and you know yourself better than anyone else does. If anyone was going to know the answer to your question, it'd be you.
You're hesitant because you trust others' abilities over your own, but you must recognize the amount of power you have. No one is weak; our strength is just distributed in different ways. We all have aspects of ourselves that might be stronger or weaker than someone else. It's not about what others have and what you don't have; it's about learning to take advantage of what you do have. You're not weak.
You may be more sensitive to what others think of you, but their views of you are just opinions, not facts. You decide who you are. Remember, you're the creator of your reality, right? Your opinion is the only one that matters.
You may have a lack of support, which is unfortunate, but don't let this get to you. You are worthy of love, and it is possible for you. No one isn't worthy of love. We all make mistakes, and we all have things we dislike about ourselves, but in no way does that make us unlovable.
Overall, I believe you need to let go of people's opinions and perspectives on you. You need to allow yourself the freedom to not care. Be yourself, and be patient. Don't rely on others as much as you do. You must grow more independent because, at the end of the day, all you have is yourself. You're amazing, and don't let anyone else tell you otherwise.
Tumblr media
Hiii, pile four!
You're someone who never runs out of ideas. You're always expanding your limits and pushing yourself to know more. You love researching and educating others. You might be a bit self-conscious and nervous. You get along with others well, and you always know what's going on within your community. You're always thinking of ways you can help others around you.
As I said, you're someone who's nervous and, most likely, insecure. Don't be; you're amazing! You're smart, and you're passionate. You take pride in your work, but your own views of yourself may get in the way of you becoming the best version of yourself.
You may have a good idea, but you might be a bit too insecure to bring it up to those around you. Give yourself a pep talk, and tell others about your ideas! I promise you, they're great.
Remember, don't take on too much. You have a tendency to accept more than you know you're capable of. You need to find a balance between being assertive and knowing your limits.
You're someone who's looked up to by others. You're wise, and your energy radiates it. People may come to you for advice and guidance. You may not like this about yourself. Perhaps you don't like being seen as wise and mature; maybe you want to be left alone. I have a feeling others may not listen to you the way you listen to them. You hardly have anyone you can rely on.
I do think a part of you is glad people see you this way, but you hate the responsibility that comes with it. You have to deal with others’ problems, and you may not have the heart to turn them away. You do care for these people, but it might be too much for you to handle, and they don't seem to be thinking about you in these situations.
You need to learn how to get the courage to bring these problems up. People admire you; they do. You don't need to hold others’ hands for them to like you. If you do, then they're not worth it.
You and those around you need to find a balance between being able to rely on each other, but not an extensive amount. You're human, and you need breaks.
Communicating can be hard, but standing up for yourself is worth it. Your feelings and mental health don't deserve to be ignored.
Your friends may not be giving you the care you need. They may not pay attention to you or listen to your opinions. They may only talk about themselves. If this is the case, you can either bring this up with them or leave.
You need to be more upfront with your boundaries. I also think you need to pay more attention to your own feelings. As I've mentioned, you ignore your own feelings for the convenience of others, but your feelings matter too. Perhaps it's the amount of responsibility that's been put on you that's made you feel this way. Regardless of the reasons, you need to put your foot down.
You need to take time for yourself and ask yourself what you think you deserve. Do you deserve to be treated this way? Do you deserve more? I suggest doing shadow work and evaluating your self-concept.
You're restricted by preconceived ideas that others have placed on you. You feel as though you have no room to breathe because people act as if they know who you are when they don't. It bothers you that people seem to put limits on you as a person. You need to keep an eye out for those who do this, and you need to cut them out. You don't deserve this treatment.
Overall, I believe you need to stand up for yourself more. You may let people walk over you because you don't want to come off as mean, but you need to understand that it doesn't matter what others feel if they're ignoring your feelings. You deserve more compassion and consideration because it's clear those around you don't give you that. I wish you luck with this. It can be hard to teach yourself to stand up for yourself, but I believe in you.

Hello there. I haven't realy been up to date with the discourse - as it takes a lot of spoons and ruins my mood - so I missed the existence of your questioning blog outside a mention of it on a place that isn't tumblr. I have been quiet on mains when several shitstorms happened (you getting accusations of stuff and Nart's leaked private comm). But it has put a damper on my enjoyment of my fav train men a lot. Seeing them on my dash doesn't give me the joy it used to give me. And in some of the more angsty things, I even fear that the creators of those might be the next targets of drama. I personally dislike incestious shippings, but I am also aware that the people who like it are people. And thus shouldn't be hunted like monsters. Demonising a person or a group only breeds negativity and drama. I have seen people being in doubt if they should still follow/like/reblog your stuff due to your neutral stance on things. It is a sad form of irony that some people have such a black/white stance on the whole situation. If Submas is a small ecosystem, then there are several smaller niches within that. Some of these niches don't suit everyone. But that doesn't mean those who don't fit a niche should try to remove that niche altogether, as that has rammifications for the whole ecosystem. Difference and variation is a sign of a healthy ecosystem. So yeah, the blankship is not a niche I would forage in. So I will leave it in peace. I have seen folk in other spaces who enjoy Submas. Could they be a blankshipper? Maybe. Do I ask? Nope. I just want to be able to get a smidge of joy in peace. Just like the sentiment of ''your kink is not my kink and that is okay'', I'm not going to throw a fit when someone admits to me they like that ship. I will just politely tell it isn't my thing. I want to keep things civil. I have been sharing a lot of my thoughts right now. And I'm slightly afraid someone would realise who I am and raise hell for my stance. So I will stop now. Maybe I contact you again in another way in case you want more of my thoughts.
Hi there! I don't usually answer long asks like this on my art blog, but I found this one particularly interesting -- and if you're willing to contact me further in another way, I'm totally down! (Your identity is safe with me, I promise. But if you'd like to contact me on a burner, that is fine too.)
Unfortunately, I'm aware that there's quite a few no longer in support of me since this whole shebang -- but in a way, I don't mind it too much, despite some depressing cases. They're sort of curating my own experience for me. I don't want to be hurt in the future by people who would drop me in an instant for having an opinion on fiction, so I would rather not interact with them at all.
(Fortunately, my own dramas had nothing to do with Submas, they were just particularly immature people who started it for fun and/or other motives. I'm very social within servers and stuff, and eventually you're gonna find a bad apple or two.)

I just think it needs to be said that adults have to regulate themselves in online spaces in a way that is responsible for minors in fandom spaces. This will be long im sorry.
And im not specifically talking about adults with lists of DNI minors and block anyone at or under a certain age as well as make it clear their blog may not be safe for minors (ie spaces with a lot of nsfw content). Though curating an experience is a big part of being responsible of course. This post though is mostly delving into adults' behavior and how you need to be aware of your behavior.
For example, if you're an adult who purposefully curates a blog dedicated to fandom discourse, harming other people in the fandom, vagueing, and just having general toxicity about people ESPECIALLY when the targets of said harassment and toxicity are often the youngest in the fandom this is something you really need to reevaluate yourself about for a million reasons but including how this harms and serves as a poor example to younger people what a fandom space is meant to be. Like when I see minors involved in these types of toxicity, not to say they shouldn't be informed or held accountable or the ppl harmed should forgive them, but as an adult I mostly feel sad. I feel sad because I hope they're going to be okay when they're my age and look back on themselves. I hope they're safe esp when the adults around them act like this kind of behavior is normal and okay even though they've long graduated high school (even though ot wasn't okay then either for the record). Like does it not bother you that you're an adult who feels superior sending hate campaigns and ask box harassment and cyberbullying to minors on the internet because you're insecurities are that large and you've no ability to regulate them healthily? Does it not bother you that you teach young ppl in the fandom to do similarly by your actions, and affect their experience? Does the harm not bother you?
Because it should bother you. When you grow up especially in online fandom spaces you do need to be more aware of not only your words in general, but how many people may look up to you and use you as example and that you have a responsibility to be healthy online for the sake of yourself, others, and esp the youngest of the fandom.
Because it hurts to think ppl can grow up in fandom to think "oh sending kys and gore and dead animals over [insert discourse] plus potentially bigotry is normal because everyone around me does it and I want to fit in and I also fear speaking up against the adults who do this because you know the harassment".
And you might say "well cup im just gonna block all minors the end I get to harass people forever hahaha haha!" And well okay, but for another post (plus ones I've made before) there's still a million reasons this is fucked up you see but I'm just focusing on one aspect rn in this post.
And then there's the adults in fandom who all of a sudden hit my age and all they do is belittle kids and the way they act and there is all of a sudden a Certain Maturity that needs to be upheld for Everyone but Especially Adults.
So on the first point this includes adults who are like "I hate kids!!!! They are so [insert anything negative]" and it includes any comment to meta/writing/art/etc that is like not allowing a younger person in fandom to grow. Like the way I talked as 11 years on the internet was incomprehensible and frankly would've been subject to "omg kids are so cringe ew!" For sure these days, ig I was lucky my online friends were also 11 at the time. Looking at my old fandom Meta posts when I was 15, like I could imagine the way I see adults talking about takes like "oh shit I was worse!" Which is just a bag full of insecurity for me, but I also can't imagine being young in fandom and directly experiencing such critiques all the time. Like does it not bother you, once again? That you don't want to see kids in fandom grow into their creativity and co-exist safely in fandom as they do in public and experience overall and public joy? Why do you hate I mean hateee kids as an adult and why does their joy spark hate and misery in you (you might need therapy or to work that out srsly). And do the effects of your actions not bother you? What do you think you're doing other than silencing the creativity and joy in people and invoking ways to people please or for minors to Act Mature (in reality acting the way these adults want to avoid harassment ofc!) Instead of of course just experiencing joy and fun and community as they would normally.
And that brings me to my last pt of the effects of you hit [adult age] and must Act Mature and not Care About Cringe Fandoms or Watch Cartoons and do anything that would indicate you god forbid Don't Have a Real Job. This is the reality for growing up in fandom its finite once you're 19 no more Cringe of course /s! Because I've been subject to this take before as a criticism, and I've seen essays about how adults who watch Bluey are destroying the world forever, and I can take it because I go to therapy and I'm secure in my own maturity where it matters and joy where it matters. But imagine how younger people in the fandom feel. Like you're basically telling kids "btw once you're at Adult Age you must stop having fun forever and you must have a Real Job (or Education) and stop enjoying Immature things like fandom (even though I am in fandom btw im not a hypocrite saying this) or you're a freak immature adult who will never grow up". Like wow.
Like the conservative and near unnuanced take of to be Mature you need a real job (whatever that means) and to only watch adult shows in a normal manner (again whatever that means) aside, like you're really telling kids to grow up and be insecure. I'm serious! Like of course as you grow up it's important to mature no duh, but with real maturity means realizing there are times to be serious and there are times to enjoy things. Maturity doesn't mean I can never watch bluey god forbid else I have a not real job or become media illiterate as a consequence (esp when actually marketing wise a lot of kids shows are meant to also be entertaining for adults watching with their kids... and lo and behold your media literacy doesn't go away magically the moment the show starts). Like you really want younger ppl in fandom to be miserable and grow up miserable and create a cycle of miserable lest they become Cringe Adults that watch a harmless cartoon and enjoy it.
I'm never good at ending rants like this but conclusion. Get a grip on yourself and insecurities and be really careful how you foster fandom community for yourself but also to those that grow up in these spaces too.
As always add on/send asks/correct me/add nuance/etc. ❤️

why are there pictures of random people on your blog. were they paid/actors/models or just random people off the internet? you shouldn't put someone's picture on the internet without their permission. also, you should remind people that if they take inspiration from someone else and get proceeds from their art franchise that it should got to whomever inspired the art.
please have some respect for other people's privacy. its not okay even for a seemingly harmless art tutorial to use someone else's stuff for your own gain.
you might be infringing on copyright laws or something else that's related to personal information and the internet.
No way this ask isn't a troll svshdgc. I can only assume this is referring to my Native art tutorials because those are the tutorials I've done.
The "random people" I used in my art tutorial are all famous Native American celebrities, and all the photos are from professional photo shoots (many of them were placed there on sites like IMBD or their own official site by the actor themselves) and/or screenshots from films they were in that they were definitely paid for, and I can assure you they all have more money than I do and don't need my money. It's a little unfair, I think, to say "respect their privacy" about celebrities in these photos that I pulled from, who consented to having their likeness placed & seen by the general public that they then placed on the internet for the purpose of being seen.
How am I "using" them for "my own gain" exactly. I'm also Native American, and I made the tutorial as a response to the fact that I was constantly seeing White artists draw Native American people and characters as racial caricatures and with red skin, so I made it to show people to NOT do that and why it was wrong. I did it to widely benefit Native people and other artists, not myself. I didn't get any financial or popularity gain from this either, and so I fail to see how this was benefitting me or "selfish" on my part.
Do you say this & send this anon to every artist who makes an art tutorial or just the Indian?

New to Tumblr? Read this.
I know there's a lot of new people joining tumblr as of recently. To that I welcome you! I hope you find what you're looking for here.
There is one very, very important thing that you should know:
You may come here thinking that taking images off of google/pinterest is okay and that it's totally fine™ to post them on your blog because 'it fits the aesthetic' or '✨this is totally me~✨.
But I'm here to tell you bestie, it's not.
That is considered art theft.
If you can't take 3 minutes to use Google Lens or TinyEye to reverse image search the image you found to find the source? Don't post it.
Period.
I don't care how 'cool' or 'hot' or how 'fitting' it is for you or you blog.
It is a huge disrespect towards content creators who spend their time and effort creating art for the community for others to enjoy, only to have some random person rip it off google/pinterest/tiktok/twitter/insta saying:
'I just found it.' 'I don't know the source.' 'idk who the artist is.'
Stop.
Be more respectful towards content creators. The bare minimum you (the person posting art without asking) can do is credit the artist by citing the source of where they originally posted it.
If you can't go the extra step and ask an artist if you can post it, knowing they will probably say no?
You shouldn't be posting it anyway.
And don't use peoples art in transformative works involving 'memes' or 'mood boards' that they didn't consent to their work to be used in.
TL:DR Don't post someones art without asking.
And if you (someone browsing a # for content you enjoy) see this happening and the person refuses to find and cite the source? Please report it to the original creator of the art being posted.
Thank you for coming to my ted talk.
