Note
Not the original asker, but how would you make NPC equivalents of PC mechs? Some stuff feels fairly intuitive, but there are some others that I'm less sure of/not sure how to do.
IPS-N
IPS-N mechs are probably the easiest, since there are many mechs that are close to being 1-to-1 NPC approximations of IPS-N mechs.
Blackbeard - One of the easiest, since the Berserker NPC is basically just a Blackbeard. It has the Chain Axe, it has the reckless speed and it has the inability to properly determine between friend and foe. It doesn't have the Blackbeard's enhanced Grapple shenanigans but those aren't really appropriate on an NPC mech anyway.
Caliban - Give an Assassin the Devil's Cough Shotgun and Explosive Knives.
Drake - Take the Bastion, increase its HP just a little, remove the Rotary Grenade Launcher and give it the Scourer's Thermal Lance, except make the Thermal Lance do Kinetic damage instead of Energy.
Lancaster - Another easy one. The Support NPC is just a slightly slower Lancaster. It has a Latch Drone, it has Restock Drones, it has Whitewash, it's got all the fun stuff.
Nelson - Yet another easy one. The Cataphract does pretty much exactly what the Nelson does, just with added trample.
Raleigh - This is much more difficult - so much so that for In Golden Flame, I created an entirely new NPC class, the Slinger, just to simulate it. If you don't have IGF, start with an Assault. Remove the Assault Rifle, Combat Knife and Hunker Down. Take the Drum Shotgun from the Goliath and call it a Hand Cannon. Give it the Archer's Impending Threat optional.
Tortuga - This one's fairly simple. Take a Sentinel, upscale it to Size 2, give it Punisher Ammunition and the Bombard's Siege Armor.
Vlad - Take a Berserker, give it the Nail Gun optional, and then give it the Bastion's Near-Threat Denial System.
Zheng - Take a Berserker, give it Juggernaut and Retribution, remove Aggression, remove the Chain Axe and replace it with the Demolisher's Demolition Hammer.
SSC
SSC mechs also have a lot of parallels, so it's pretty easy to model them.
Black Witch - Probably the hardest mech to model with existing NPCs. I created another whole new class, the Lodestone, just to simulate these guys.
Death's Head - Take a Sniper, cut the damage on its Anti-Material Rifle to 6/8/10, strip the Loading trait and permanently give it the effect of Deadmetal Rounds (shots become Line 20 instead of Range 25).
Dusk Wing - Literally just a Hornet.
Metalmark - Take an Assault and give it the Operator's Fade Generator.
Monarch - Depending on the exact flavour of Monarch you want, you can do two things. Either take a Rainmaker, scale it up to Size 2 and give it Atlas Missiles the Ace's Missile Swarm, or take an Ace, scale it up to Size 2 and give it Missile Swarm.
Mourning Cloak - Literally just a Specter.
Swallowtail - Literally just a Scout.
HORUS
HORUS mechs are where we need to get a little bit more inventive. This shit ain't natural boys.
Balor - Take a Hive, give it Electro-Nanite Cloud and the Berserker's Harpoon Cannon, then give it the Exotic template and choose Regenerator. Or, if you have No Room For A Wallflower, just use the Lurker NPC.
Goblin - It's a Witch.
Gorgon - Take a Sentinel, scale it up to Size 2 and give it the Archer's Impending Threat and Suppress reactions.
Hydra - There's not really an NPC that simulates a mech deploying 800 drones and honestly that's probably for the best.
Manticore - Give a Berserker the Superhot optional, the Cataphract's Capacitor Discharge, the Sentinel's Combat Shotgun and the Operator's Self-Erasure.
Pegasus - Do not attempt to simulate me, ha ha.
Harrison Armory
Home stretch here.
Barbarossa - Take a Goliath, give it the Ultra's Short-Cycle Lance or the Bombard's Bombard Cannon.
Genghis - Literally just a Pyro.
Iskander - This is just a Seeder.
Napoleon - Why does this mech exist
Saladin - Scale up an Aegis to Size 2.
Sherman - Take a Scourer and give it Emergency Vent.
Tokugawa - Take a Berserker and give it Superhot. Make its Chain Axe do Energy instead of Kinetic, and instead of Shredding on crit, make it do a couple of Burn damage.

Side-effects.
When you wake up in the morning, your mind typically expects a human body to be looking you in the mirror. So why is it that this feels so normal? Why does the change feel like no change at all? Why is the thought of inhabiting a human body suddenly so foreign and disturbing?
When you wake up in the morning, your stomach typically asks to be filled with carbohydrates and proteins and vitamins. So why is it that all of that seems so unappetizing now? Why are you suddenly craving kerosene?
After a moment, your thought process returns to normal. You’re hungry. You should brush your hair this morning, too. So you decide to get up and take care of your morning routine.
You should probably report these side-effects to someone. But you aren’t sure who. Besides, won’t they ground you for a while if you tell them this is happening? You wouldn’t want that. To have your wings taken away from you.
Making your way down the hall to the hangar, you pass by one of your fellow processors. They greet you with a wave and a “Good morning.” Their voice sounds like a lo-fi transmission. You try your best to ignore it and simply return the greeting.
Upon entering the hangar, you’re met with a peculiar sight. That’s you in there. But that can’t be you. You’re right here. But that’s definitely you... That fuselage, the cockpit, the wings and fins...
That’s you, beyond a shadow of a doubt!
But it isn’t you. Not right now. That’s only you when the mind bridge is active. You’re feeling echoes of that link. The lingering sensation of the connection. That’s what these side-effects are, you remember reading about them.
Maybe you ought to report them after all...

Obsessed with the very concept of mech pilots having handlers; and specifically the usage of the term. They aren't a navigator or support, they're a handler. Mech pilots may be unparalleled agents of war on the battlefield, but they're raw, uncontrolled. A pilot needs a handler to point it to what to shoot, because otherwise they just don't know what to do. Brains so melted by their training, overwhelmed by neural linking, that they need a voice they can latch onto and follow unconditionally. An unconditional obedience that carries over outside their mechs, where they're oh so weak and broken. Where the veil comes down and the true power dynamic reveals itself. A tool that follows orders without thinking, and the one who wields them.

THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN MECHS AND TANKS
THE DIVINE AND AWESOME MECHS:
-made in our image and so by extention, God's
-punches and kicks with righteous fury
-symbol of the peak of evolution, moulded for a Holy Purpose
-ignores the square cube law like any advanced being
-has aplications outside of conflict
THE CRINGE AND UNHOLY T*NKS:
-crawls in the mud like the serpent Lucifer
-absurd appendage to launch its cowardly Shells from afar
-symbol of humanity's obscene wheel fetish
-cursed to be a victim of gravity itself
-the fucks a tractor

Aside from the great round table of the town hall and the fierce-looking seat at its helm, there was one other thing that had been in Camelot since before history: the Hanged Man.
It's honestly barely short from a miracle that I hadn't drawn Merlin yet, like the vibes are so up my alley. Finally did it, and I'm glad that I did. I haven't loved loved my art in a while but this I do.

MECHANISMS REF IMAGE MASTERPOST
Okay, so I put together refs for each of the mechs as best I can. I tried to avoid anything in a show lighting, but sometimes it can't be helped. Notes will be underneath each section
Whole cast
Tumblr media
Ivy is the only character leaning on the wall in the second image, but is roughly as tall as Ashes
Jonny D'Ville
Tumblr media
Jonny in earlier shows like TTBT wears a black shirt underneath instead of the white. He occasionally has red or black painted nails and his goggles are either black or bronze. He has a black 7 of diamonds. He often holds a mic - which is a Shure Super 55
Tumblr media
Drumbot Brian
Tumblr media
He usually has just the flower in his hat, but sometimes it's replaced with RAM or his drumsticks. His goggle has a very small crack at the base. The rings seem to be a bit of a motherboard and screws? The visible heart is something I can only find in one picture, but it's cool
Gunpowder Tim
Tumblr media
Sometimes wears jeans instead of dark brown trousers. His eye scars are more geometric than Jonny's, and he has dark eye shadow around the eyes where Jonny uses just eyeliner
Raphaella la Cognizi
Tumblr media
The top is three layers: a white/cream shirt, a brown puffy shirt and a a top layer which has a halter neck. Occasionally one or both of the undershirts won't be worn (see HNOC liveshow). Tights can be blue or black. Light up wings from DTTM
The leggings/tights are sometimes black and sometimes deep blue
Ivy Alexandria
Tumblr media
A few different outfits, in liveshows they're also wearing some outfits not shown here - but always black and red with a waistcoat of some kind.
Nastya Rasputina
Tumblr media
The necklace is a little cat :3
Marius von Raum
Tumblr media
Kneepads in DTTM. The cards are a jack and ace of hearts. Necktie either has a white or gold pattern on it, but they don't always wear it. The green jacket has a tailcoat
The Toy Soldier
Tumblr media
Hair varies a lot. Sometimes it's worn down, in a ponytail or hidden under the hat. Sometimes nails are painted red or black
Ashes O'Reilly
Tumblr media
In live shows they often wear this eyeliner which has thick bars that go behind the ears - but I couldn't find any clear pictures of this. Though their outfits changes, always mostly black with some red in the hair
Dr Carmilla post can be found here
I hope this was in some way helpful to anyone who wants to draw the mechanisms. If you have questions feel free to ask me in the ask box and I will do my best to answer them and provide some photos <3 have a great day

Mech pilot handler playing Armored Core VI and ranting about all the inaccuracies to her pilot. (who is on the floor between her legs, too twitchy and blissed out by continuous battlestim use to actually understand anything other than direct orders)
Sometimes she says the word "combat" and the pilot looks up at her and shivers like an eager puppy. She pats its head fondly and then roughly pushes it back towards her crotch as she continues to complain about the implausibility of mechs being so mobile flying in Earth's gravity.
