I’m excited to share this new drawing I made of St Melangell, commissioned by Rabbit Retail, here surrounded by the buns from Rainbow Rabbit Rescue 🐇

Melangell is the patron saint of hares and a hunt saboteur from the 7th century - as her story goes, she saved a hunted hare under her cloak and protected them from a prince and his hounds until they retreated 🐰🌞 Her feast day is celebrated tomorrow (May 27th)

Today we also celebrate the Righteous Melangell the Abbess of Wales. Saint Melangell was born of royal Welsh lineage and was thus expected to marry. Yearning for the life of prayer and solitude, Melangell renounced her royal status and fled for Ireland in around 590AD and settled in an isolated area where she would sleep on bare rock with a cave as her cell. She remained hidden her for almost fifteen years. One day, as the Welsh Prince Brochfael Ysgithrog was hunting in the area, his hounds found a hare which they pursued with the intent of killing it. The hare ran through a bush and the Prince followed it. He then unexpectedly found the Hermitess Melangell in such deep prayer that she remained undistracted by the commotion happening around her. The breathless hare had found refuge in the folds of Melangell’s garment. When the Prince’s ordered his hounds to snatch the hare, the hounds dared not approach the Saint. Now aware of what was happening, Melangell calmly, but boldly, drove the dogs back. The Prince had never seen such a thing before and was in utter amazement. He cautiously approached the hermitess and asked to hear her life story. Deeply moved by the Saint, the Prince marvelled at Melangell’s beauty, purity, and love for God. Nevertheless, he suggested that she leave her solitude and marry him. She gently but adamantly refused, and the Prince was so impressed with her sanctity and determination that he donated a parcel of land on which she would found her monastery. This monastery became a refuge not only for animals, but for all people who came to Melangell to be comforted by her words. Saint Melangell lived for almost forty years in her monastery guiding and counselling all who came to her. During her life, no animal was ever killed on her land, and for centuries after, those who live in the area do not dare to hurt any hares as they are regarded to be protected by the Saint. Saint Melangell is considered the Patron Saint of hares and other small animals and performs miralces for those who come to her with faith. Today (27th May) is the feast day of St. Melangell who fled from her family in Ireland in the 5th century, to a valley near the Afon Tanat in North Wales. One day Brochwel, the Prince of Powys, was hunting a hare in the area which ran under the robes of Melangell seeking shelter from the ensuing hounds. After hearing her story, Brochwel gave her some of his own lands to found an abbey where she offered sanctuary to all who required it. She lived a long life as an abbess and in the 7th century she was given sainthood and often described as the Patron Saint of Rabbits and Hares.

Saint Melangell was a Welsh virgin who pursued a solitude life of prayer as a hermit. Legend has it that a Scottish prince of Powys was hunting with his dogs in hot pursuit of a rabbit. It hid placidly in the clothing of St. Melangell, which greatly surprised the prince. The dogs cowered and fled. At this miracle, the prince gave St. Melangell land where she established a community of women religious. Pilgrims today travel to this site called Pennant Melangell.

Since Guinevere is coming soon i compiled a list of MC name ideas and insipration for those who do not have 18 GB of name research on their flash drives. It is mostly old Welsh names from the 900s-1100s and Welsh mythology. I also threw in some medieval/literary French and English names for #flavor (and also because even though arthur is Welsh in origin, Arthurian legend is so heavily influenced by Anglo-Norman poetry and French chansons de geste). I excluded all names that (to my limited knowledge) already appear in Athurian tradition bc I'm expecting some of those characters to show up in the book lol. Here is a continuation of the blood cult au. In the au, I will call each of them by their nickname. (Songbird =Scratch /Boyd's) (Bunny= Leroy/Talon's) (Asmodeus/Clemont's=Wifey)

Leroy Bunny Songbird and Boyd were all in the same orphanage. Songbird left first because she was adopted by a singer who used to be famous. Bunny was then adopted by a regular couple. Then Boyd and Leroy were adopted. Boyd and Leroy had remembered a specific memory tied to them. For songbird it was her trying to sing on what was on an old television set in the orphanage. For Leroy it was a memory of when Bunny was playing with Leroy hide and seek when he was it. The thing on the old TV was phantom of the opera. Songbird tried singing the part of Christine. Leroy always thought of himself as the phantom in phantom of the opera to rescue his Christine from an evil man. Bunny had worn a headband with bunny ears before she was adopted. Also note this when the boys wear their masks. Their hair becomes red with sometimes white strikes. Their lovers all had weird dreams involving a woman in their dreams. Wifey met a woman with deer antlers with butterflies on the antlers wearing a long dress. The deer woman was Viviana. Bunny met a nun who was holding a rabbit like a baby. The woman was named melangell. Songbird met a woman named Euterpe who was holding an umbrella which covered her eyes and was wearing a long following gown. After this, Wifey, a teacher of a school for the disabled, wanted to try dating went on a blind date turned out the guy was a player so the date didn't work. Songbird went to practice for her role again. Bunny woke up and was walking in the woods until she saw a wounded rabbit. Bunny noticed an eagle trying to get near the rabbit so Bunny went to stop the bird's attack. Bunny nursed the rabbit back to health and released it back but as Bunny turned back the eagle caught the rabbit but never ate it. In stead the eagle brought the rabbit to it's nest. That fate might fall upon Bunny when their not on guard.

This is so cool! I love the dreams that they all have and the meaning behind them! I do love childhood friends to separate to a reunion but one of them isn't all there anymore. this is such a cool AU and thank you for telling me all about it!

Her name is related to food/consumption which is racist and anyone who says otherwise is outing themselves. Her story even with "discarding the name melangel gave her and living a new life" is at the very least a nod to slavery. Make her named after Rose Nicaud at least, christ.
