Been practicing my comic making skills by working this one-off (I won’t be making a follow-up or anything prior to this event bc it’s purely for exercise purposes).

This is Wakfu-related, and these are my OCs. For some people who follow me and don’t know what Wakfu is, I’ll just explain the character lore in the most generic way possible (those who do know what it is can fill in the blanks).

Okay so scary old man (named Melphis) is kind of a wizard and left his home because he got jealous of his leaders and wanted to be better than them. So he trained to be the very best like no one ever was, and he’s pretty close to succeeding. But because he’s been overexerting his powers for over 100 years, his body’s starting to turn on him, and his powers are starting to get unstable.

The scared girl with the blonde hair (named Rio) is the same species as Melphis and also wants to become a super cool wizard (but for much less selfish reasons). Melphis saw her willingness to learn, took advantage of that, and became a sort of mentor to her. He tried to bring her to his side, and it worked for quite some time. But when Rio found out who he really is, she called him out on it, and he snapped. And that how this whole situation started.

Oh and the noseless lady is Siniphine (now with shorter hair). She likes to fight and she and her friends somehow got dragged into this ordeal.

Bathing in a world on the edge of war, of monster gore and exploding plants that try to digest you in their fluids is a wild run. So, trust me when I say the Dungeon folk stank a certain amount from their switch over.

Shampoo, flora body soaps, hot water - were so rare and so foreign to them it took them at least a month to understand that they never had to save water on Earth. When given the graces of a bathroom, watching shower heads, bath tubs and wash clothes with hundreds of bottles of some form of bubbly liquid? Oh, how it was a miracle to get them to leave such rooms.

Zackery never stopped washing his hair, fingers at his scalp, scratching and itching and removing grime from eons of being cold water washed on the monthly escape to a lakeside. He brushed his teeth something fierce, to the point of bleeding but he couldn't care less for that. The only reason he didn't have dental issues was because Emon's magic!

Emon's never had anything touch his body in the form of water or gel, magic cleansing was a common thing for the Magic Tower folk, though they had money and resourced for water, it was often used for water magics at most. Collected for potion making, for practical things for the storage spaces of their endless walls of concoctions. So, to be graced with a bath-tub, holding the hand of Vega and sitting amongst his people in a large shared hot bath… Oh, he nearly cried at how nice it felt. Washing his hair, feeling water in his toes, his hands warmed through and the tension in his body melting away like ice in the sun.

Nishi' didn't need more water in his life, he was born in it with his kind, but it was nice to witness a world with waters in abundance. What he found more interesting, like Aaphrine, Earth had a lot of water holes, some places that no human could dive within. Sulfuric lakes, salt lakes, chemical lacking or even oxygen lacking lakes. Ah, those were the best for him, but cleaning is a ritual he takes seriously - his scales take a bloody long time to shine so he's rather impressed with body sponges and will collect a few for his travels.

Leo, Qiang, Yuriy and Xion, they were not so much accustomed to bathing. After all, they were a species that social groom. Tongues to fur, made for their pelts and make up of layers. It was more common to see these four in a corner, grooming each other with skinship of familial notions. Over and over, they'll clean each other, but on Earth - it felt different since they didn't need to use their tongues anymore. Earth had Shampoo! For Animals! It was a life changer, they still bathe together, a social need for their species since they were the only ones of this nature on Earth now. Yet, to dig fingers into thick fur, to brush out knots, to trim and have every part of their bodies fully groomed? Heavenly. They are the pinacol of supreme fluff and shiny fur.

Arius - doesn't have a body that needs cleaning. The Demonfolk, never dirty - bathing isn't something in their nature. Raphael & the Fallen Gods - are protected by divinity, dirty and the likes can not fall upon their being.

OH GOD THE SHOE IS ON THE OTHER FOOT HDJDHDJD

Ok I’ll talk about my most OBTUSE au; the one that’s kinda based on Frankenstein (and by that I mean the musical (and by that I mean the song “Why?”)) where Melphis is Frankstein’s Monster!

Basically the idea is that Marion created Melphis but just like Victor he quickly grew to fear and abandon his creation, his child. Melphis ofc went mad and decided to ruin Marion’s life since that man ruined his before he was even given a chance to have a life. So, he kills child!Cherry (this takes place when she’s like, 8) to cause strife within the Oreo Gang and it leads to Marshe being blamed for the murder, thus being killed by Firo as vengeance for his daughter. All because Marion made a series of bad decisions

... and that’s all I got! It really has all thay thought out bc I don’t see this au as a full Frankenstein musical au or have really thought more about the plot outside of this moment. I don’t know if Creature!Melphis ends up murdering whoever Elizabeth would be and the rest of the events of the musical unfold. I’ve really only imagined this moment because of these lyrics from Why

Because. Well when you look at Marion and Melphis’ relationship... YEAHHHHHHHHH.

IDK man to me it doesn’t need more of a plot outside of that one thing. You get the idea: Melphis is getting revenge for being abandoned to rot by his creator (Father, Marion) and this version of him doesn’t draw the line at killing kids just to ruin Marion’s life, targeting his work since that’s all that matters to him. This au is just a wacky little thing. Carries the implication Melphis is probs gonna do more shit to destroy the Oreo Gang and likewise Marion’s livelihood, everything he’s worked towards destroyed because he decided to build himself an heir but chickened out at the last second.

All I got is that I imagine Donna and Gleo don’t exist here. And honestly maybe Sugao doesn’t either! My idea is that Marion decided to make workers for the gang like he does in canon, but because he doesn’t have a family and ig no one wants to bang him, he had to. Well. Make a man out of corpses! Very fun!!!!!!!!!

I wish Creature!Melphis the best of luck being unhinged and making Marion regret being born!!!!!

Random thing I noticed watching a let’s play of FFVII. Not a single one of the 9 playable characters has any siblings.

Cloud - Father died when he was young and his mother was killed by Sephiroth. No siblings.

Tifa - Mother died when she was young and her father was killed by Sephiroth. No siblings.

Barrett - Lost his wife, his best friend, and his best friend’s wife and adopted his best friend’s daughter. No siblings.

Aerith - Father killed by SHINRA shortly after she was born, mother killed a few years later. Adopted by Elmyra Gainsborough. No siblings.

Red XIII - Mother “left for dead” by father, who actually died defending Cosmo Canyon. No siblings.

Reeve/Cait Sith - I’ve read that he has parents he is close to. No siblings.

Vincent - Father was a scientist who died. Could’ve been Sephiroth’s dad if he wasn’t cucked by Hojo. No siblings.

Yuffie - Mother died when she was young, father still alive. No siblings.

Cid - Has a live-in girlfriend/assistant. No siblings.

Additionally;

Sephiroth - Mother encased in ice shortly after birth. Presumably no siblings because if Hojo got it on with anyone else you can bet he’d do the same to them what he did to Sephiroth and we’d know about it.

Zack - Both parents alive. No siblings.

Kadaj, Loz, and Yazoo - Literally the only siblings in the entire FFVII universe, and they’re not even really siblings, they’re just Sephiroth split into three different bodies.

Where’s the deep dive conspiracy theory about the world of FFVII having a law forbidding families to have more than one child due to overpopulation/resource shortage concerns to make it extra dystopian? Maybe with SHINRA leveraging that to their advantage by convincing people if they let them build reactors someday the prosperity will allow for siblings to exist in the world again.

--Melphie is a half-drow Tempest Sorceress, I figured it would be easier to show you what she looks like:

--Melphie is Neutral Good, she is a cinnamon roll who just wants to help whomever she can, but obviously with her urges she doesn't really get to follow rules too much. I debated Lawful Good but she isn't compelled to follow rules, just to help. Don't judge a book by it's cover everyone in this world learns about her very quickly

--As a sorceress, her preferred weapon tends to be staffs and her magic, and she would really lean towards lightning magic like Call Lightning, Lightning Bolt, Chain Lightning, etc. Her fave staff is Markoheshkir from Lorroakan's Tower

--She's romancing Spawn!Astarion, as they are helping each other grow as people in their own rights. She warmed his dead heart right up--killed him (again) with kindness!

Birthdays were something of a rarity to her, many years spent at the orphanage where she just got told congrats on living another year and then ignored save for the occasional year that Gebel managed to find a way to celebrate in a way that was more than just sitting on her bed chatting idly and yearning to have a proper family. After Gebel's death though, none of her birthdays really mattered and that fact had only been amplified by her former boyfriend who conveniently always forgot and always went off to do something else with his brother on her birthday. Every year. It never bothered her any though, such was life and honestly Miriam had better things to worry about than the fact that her age was one year higher than it was the previous day.

Waking up felt the same, for once she managed to wake after her boyfriend and while usually she wouldn't be too concerned with the fact, it confused her that the man wasn't still in bed; Usually he was still curled around her even if he'd woken first simply because he needed a moment to fully wake up and because usually she was always sprawled half on top of the poor man and he was too polite to wake her up himself unless he really had to get up. ( Wonder what he's up to... ) She muses to herself, a smile creeping upon tired features. Bones crack as the pallid woman stretches, laughing softly at the old t-shirt she'd stolen from Sonon flooding her senses for a moment before she stands up and shakes the tiredness from her body with a soft hum. The house smelled good, really good actually, as she pads out from their shared room, feet leaving gentle thunks against the wooden floor while she draws closer and closer to the dining room.

She peaks into the kitchen, icy blues gleaming with a reserved warmth only ever seen when gazing upon her little family; She may not have been formally adopted like she'd dreamt of as a kid but a loving boyfriend and his kid sister was just as good, waking up every morning and seeing Melphie's tired grin was more than enough to ease her heart into a ridiculous state of comfort as was being able to watch Sonon hum whilst making breakfast for the household and she'd happily stand beside him whilst the two cleaned up after eating their meal, it may not be what one would think of as typical for a family but it was hers and she loved it.

“ Good morning lover. ” She cooes softly, leans against the doorway with a tired smile sat atop pallid lips, “ You don't happen to be up so early for a specific reason, do you? Aside from making breakfast seeing as Melphie is still in bed and you left me all on my lonesome. ”

within the kusakabe household, huge birthday celebrations weren't really a thing. lucky for sonon, his birthday often fell on the first autumn festival of the year. and for melphie's — born only a handful of days after his — birthday, they'd usually still go to practice, then return home and cook up a miniature feast: left up to sonon to do all the hard work, of course. despite it only being the two, they'd always managed to have some fun, so when melphie sighed a mere week ago, annoyed she had yet to hear her older brother planning something extravagant for his girlfriend, the man frowned. while yes he did plan to do more than his sister and his old traditions, it wasn't like he was organising some colossal party. plus . . . sonon was sure even if they put their heads together, both miriam and himself couldn't come up with enough people to fill a room. so melphie's idea went out the window, and there wasn't much romantic he could think to do, considering sonon's kid sister didn't have school . . . well, hopefully a nice breakfast, some sweet treats, and the small gift kusakabe had gotten a couple of days prior would be enough. if not, he's more than willing to make up for the fact tomorrow when melphie is out of the house.

It's like they CBA to create anything new or original. They just take from other characters and relationships. It's almost like Aerith is a nothing character who they dgaf about because she only exists to die 🤷
