Mercury Aspects and Sense of Humor
Tumblr media
Aspects to your Mercury (as well as its sign and house placement) say a lot about your sense of humor: how you're funny and what you find funny. If you have many varying aspects to Mercury, you express your humor in many different ways. You also might just be ridiculously funny.
Sun conjunct Mercury: The Funny Guy (or Gal). These people identify with their humor so they seek a lot of validation for being funny. This can make them a constant Joker. "Why so serious?" they ask. "Because everything isn't a damn joke!" you may reply. But, they like taking the piss out of everything and everyone, themselves included. This can be a source of insecurity, too, though. They may feel as if they are always being laughed at, not with, even when it's not convenient.
Moon-Mercury aspects: Naturally funny. Seriously, some of the most hilarious people you'll ever meet (I might be a little biased as I have the sextile 😁). Humor is their intuitive response, so they react in very funny ways, sometimes unintentionally. VERY quick-witted. Needs to feel free to joke/laugh or engage with witty people to feel comfortable. The soul of a comedian. Can use humor to heal or comfort others. Either laughs off/through their feelings or do NOT laugh at them when they're having an emotional moment or they will hurt you.
Mercury conjunct Venus: Pleasing humor. Wins people over through jokes and laughter. May be fond of "corny" humor because it's very inoffensive, wholesome and oddly charming. Can make the worst puns or lamest jokes sound hilarious. Sometimes, people laugh with them just because they like them so much, not because of the joke itself. Observers may think, "Um, calm down, he/she isn't that funny." Very common with their love interests or people they date. Easily falls for very witty individuals.
Mercury-Mars aspects: Potty mouths. Vulgar humor that only they can get away with. If people are rubbed the wrong way, it only amuses them more. An expert at making sex jokes or telling hilarious stories about their sex lives. Funny people of their preferred sex(es) turn them on. Savagely skilled at sassy comebacks that will shut the other person up. Legendary roast sessions or reads. Can go on very funny rants whenever they are pissed off or worked up.
Mercury-Jupiter aspects: The clown. Big and broad humor. Loves being a silly goose. Doesn't care if you find it funny or not. It's hilarious to them! Most likely to have an unstoppable laughing fit over something stupid. Will fail the "try not to laugh" challenge. They can't hold it in! Their humor is like sunshine on a cloudy day. Like to uplift people with jokes. Even their laughter is like a healing medicine. Possibly has a distinct laugh and a huge one, at that.
Mercury-Saturn aspects: Dry wit. The absolute masters of sarcasm. It's like their second (or native) language. People sometimes don't know when they're joking and take them seriously. On the flip side, they get really annoyed when people make a joke out of something that they're taking seriously. Sophisticated humor. If American, they might really love British humor and comedians. Making jokes out of difficult situations but in a cynical or "I hate my life" way. Only gets funnier as they get older. Takes things less seriously with age and learns to use humor as a coping strategy.
Mercury-Uranus aspects: Offbeat humor. Other people sometimes don't "get" their humor. Can feel alienated in that way until they meet a fellow weirdo who laughs at the same things they do. Then, it's like "Thank God! I've found my people!" Super-quick, when it comes to telling jokes, comebacks, or getting the joke. Will laugh at things that go over other people's heads. Comedic genius: brilliant bits or wild one-liners. Might get off on controversial jokes or laughing at things they know they shouldn't. Frequently guilty of knee-jerk laughter in inappropriate moments.
Mercury-Neptune aspects: A chameleon-like wit. Can be dry, goofy, odd, offensive or wholesome in their humor, depending on the environment/audience. May write very funny screenplays or novels or be a great comedic actor. The hilarious main character of their own ongoing movie. Tells a lot of jokes to themselves, in their head or in private. Most likely to laugh out loud in public at an internal joke and look a bit crazy. Cracks themselves up. May imagine cracking others up or getting caught up in wacky situations.
Mercury-Pluto aspects: Dark comedy. "Wow, that was fucked up. Funny but fucked up." Might tell themselves that or be told that by others. Can keep some jokes to themselves because other people couldn't handle them. May think they're just joking around but destroys someone psychologically and triggers their trauma with a single quip. Sometimes, though, that's the intention. Mean streak may come out via humor in a way that horrifies them or they regret later. Or they just own it. SHADE, okay? More shade than a oak tree. It's giving Real Housewives or Tiffany Pollard. "Hilarious reality show villain" energy.

To All my Air Placements People
-Or for those who have already read "just feel"
Tumblr media
One thing that really bothers me about the astrological community is their relationship with emotions and those who identify as "air people." As an Aquarius dominant, I try to absorb the best of every word, situation, and perspective, as it is my nature to see reason and to consider things from multiple points of view. I don't see a problem with using words like "manipulative," and I'm not particularly concerned with being politically correct.
However, one issue I can't ignore is the way that air moons and people are often described as having difficulty feeling emotions. The common refrain is, "You don't feel, you just think." This creates a lot of subtext, such as "You should just feel and not think," "How will you survive when you realize you can only feel and not think," and "You overthink and don't feel."
I know that this kind of post may not be popular, as people tend to prefer direct solutions rather than philosophical discussions. Additionally, many people become overly attached to astrology, which I don't quite understand, as someone who practices greco roman paganism and views the stars as simply giant balls in space guided by the Gods. However, my goal is to help air people who may be feeling bad due to these descriptions and depreciating themselves unnecessarily. I want to provide them with the tools to live their lives in their own way, without relying too heavily on astrology. If possible, I also hope to change the mentality of the astrological community regarding air people. Or maybe I just want to help myself, who knows?
In this post, I will use my knowledge and concepts to explain why the concept of feeling can be misunderstood, how air people experience emotions, and, most importantly, how to work with your feelings.
Have you ever questioned how emotions work and why we experience them differently in different situations? Fortunately, neuroscientist Lisa Feldman has been working for 25 years to explore these questions, and her book "How Emotions Are Made" provides a scientific way to understand how our bodies process emotions. I will explain the main ideas in a summarized way.
While the amygdala is often regarded as the brain's emotional center, it is not the only part of the brain responsible for emotions. In fact, emotions are not solely processed in the brain, but throughout our whole body via neurons. Studies on monkeys who had their amygdalas removed showed that they temporarily lost the ability to feel fear, but eventually regained it. This suggests that our emotions are not simply regulated by a specific part of the brain.
Instead, emotions are processed when neurons in our body are activated and send signals to our brain. Our brain then processes these signals to determine what the emotion is and how we should respond. For example, the smell of a bakery may cause our mouth to water and make us feel hungry, while waiting in a surgery waiting room may cause us to feel anxious and lose our appetite. Physiologically, both situations trigger the same neurons, but the emotional response is different because our brain takes into account the context.
In other words, our emotions are not simply a reaction to stimuli but are influenced by our environment and our own interpretation of the situation. By understanding how emotions are made, we can gain a better understanding of ourselves and how we respond to different situations.
Drawing upon my esoteric knowledge and delving deeper into the data, have you ever wondered how neurons "communicate" and signal to the body that something is happening? The answer lies in the air. Yes, the gas we breathe in is linked to our emotions. It travels to our brains and is processed in a way that best suits the situation. Interestingly, people with different elemental signs have their own unique ways of dealing with air, which means that the gas they expel is processed differently. However, some may argue that water is the element that deals with emotions. While this may seem like an esoteric concept, I have my own explanation for it.
Neurons are present throughout our body, and the part that is referred to as our second brain is our viscera, especially our stomach, which is ruled by Cancer. Our hormones also play a crucial role in our emotions. It is a well-known fact that we don't think clearly when we are aroused, and our reproductive system, which is ruled by Scorpio, produces a significant portion of our hormones. Our feet also have a plethora of neurons connected to our emotional world, and they are ruled by Pisces. Therefore, water signs are adept at managing their emotions as they work well with this part of the body and process their feelings more quickly. Furthermore, in astrology water rules the emotions, in others studies it can be the air, or even the water rules the material.
Let's delve deeper into the subject and discuss our emotions in more detail. We need to think about them, even if it's just for a second, before we can truly feel them. While this may come naturally to us, it is something we learn as we grow older. When information is transmitted to the brain, the first thing it does is to search for a similar sensation or situation from the past to determine the appropriate response. To demonstrate this, take a look at the picture and try to see something. Then, check out the next one…
Pulling for my esoteric part and exploring more data, you know how the neurons “move” and say to the body that something is happening? By gas. Yes, air. Our emotion is linked with air, that gas goes to our brains and it will be processed in the best way for the situation, and air people have their unique way to deal with air, so that gas that is expelled will be worked in a completely different way for the air people than all the others. But is it not water who deals with emotion? Esoteric saying, yes, but I have my own explanation for that…
Neurons are on our whole body, and the part that is called our second brain are our viscera, principally our stomach, ruled by Cancer. Our hormones work a lot with our brain, and everyone knows how we don’t think too well when we are aroused. The part that produces a great part of our hormones is our reproductive system, ruled by Scorpio. Have you ever seen the amount of techniques focused on stress and negative emotions on our feet? From massages and acupuncture, our foot has a ton of neurons connected to our emotional world, and it is ruled by Pisces. So why are water people good with their emotions? Because they work well with that part of the body, they sign rules and process their feelings quicker, but do that better with their specific part.
Now we can go a little deeper in the subject and talk in more detail with our feelings. We need to think about them, even for a second, before really feeling, but that should be easy for everyone because it is natural and born with that… Yes, it is natural but we aren't born with that… We learn how to feel as we age. When the information goes to the brain the first thing it does is to search for the same sensation and the same situation in the past to know what to do. I can give you an example of how we actually just work with things, with our memory and prediction of what is going on. Look at the pic and try to see something, after that click in the link and I will heal your little problem:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Now that you've seen it, you can't unsee it. The black and white one will make sense now. This is how emotions work: we need to experience a situation to truly understand it. Emotions are complex and we often need to go through a situation more than once to really comprehend what's going on. However, if you put an air person in an environment they already know, they won't have a problem with their emotions.
Now that I've explained how we misunderstand emotions and how they actually work, I'm going to share my knowledge to help my fellow air signs in the best way possible. This is what I've learned to become the best version of myself.
When we feel something, our system works like this: we feel a sensation in our chest, and that information goes to our brain, which tries to put a word to that sensation. Once we find the best word to describe the sensation, it goes back to the area to check if it's accurate. If it's not, the process repeats until we find the best description. So, how do I work with this? I have a lot of emotion names in my memory, so I don't waste time explaining how I feel. Yes, I feel a lot (Pisces Jupiter, Scorpio Mars..), but no, I don't feel the same way as you. Allow me to introduce you:
The Wheel of Emotions

asteroid pholus (5145) and tattoos: ☄
Tumblr media
pholus, son of silenus and melia, was one of the only wise and docile centaurs in greek mythology (the other being chiron). he sheltered himself in a cave on mount pholoe and was a good friend of the hero hercules.
on one of hercules' journeys, he passed by this mountain and pholus welcomed him into his cave for a meal. but when he opens a wineskin for hercules during their feast, the wine's aroma escapes the cave and enrages all of the centaurs nearby.
hercules kills most of the centaurs with poison-tipped arrows before the others flee elsewhere. after the altercation, pholus leaves his cave to bury the bodies of the centaurs he once knew. but mistakenly, while examining the arrows in their bodies, he poisons himself by dropping one on his foot.
i personally associate pholus with tattooing because he pricks himself with a sharp object in his story. generally speaking, pholus has a strong connection with needles, arrows, sharp weapons, etc.
HOW PHOLUS (5145) ASPECTS SHOW UP IN THE NATAL CHART:
astrologically speaking, this asteroid can give us insight on the imagery and meaning our tattoos usually carry. here’s a brief list of qualities and themes we may gravitate towards as pholus aspects our natal planets
the sun: noticeable, cartoon characters, celebrities, humorous, childhood-related, tattoos for our children
the moon: the birthplace, family members or their names, bodies of water and waves, sentimental tattoos
mercury: dainty, delicate, precise lines, famous quotes, important numbers or dates, literary references

lets chat abt Jupiter and Mercury
Jupiter and Mercury ruled signs are opposite from each other on the zodiacal wheel, and are all mutable signs.
something weird and cool about that is that they're all square from each other, including the two signs that are mutually ruled by either Jupiter or Mercury! Gemini is square Virgo and Sagittarius is square Pisces.
so, about the actual meanings of these planets:
Mercury:
Mercury, behaving towards the Sun in the way the Moon behaves to the Earth, becomes a planet with the near ability to “shapeshift”, becoming a closer embodiment to whatever sign it resides in and nearest planet. this planet is never more than 1 sign (about 28º) away from the Sun in a chart, and retrogrades the most often out of all of the planets (3 times a year or so) while simultaneously having the shortest retrograde period.
being so near to the central fire of one’s being, this is where the mind begins to grow, outside of the soul yet directly connected to it. when the Sun is your strength or energy, Mercury becomes your dexterity and the way your vitality translates to the open world. Mercury defines the way you communicate; your speech, your thoughts, the fineness of the filter placed upon you by the Sun, and your ability to adapt and analyse a situation. the luminaries are illogical, and energy based, while Mercury reigns as the centre of logic, defined by its sign, aspects, and house.
common, flexible, and curious, Mercury barely has an atmosphere and has the shortest year of any planet, going retrograde just before every 3rd full lunar cycle. being the lord of common sense, it opens doors to the nervous system and fine movements, thus leading to rulership over mental plasticity and perception. this leaves only a few extreme places in the chart for Mercury to reside. because of the fact that it can morph into whatever it comes across with ease, Mercury basically rules 3 of the D&D stats, do with that what you will.
due to its ties with communication and liberality, Mercury finds itself in many daily activities: everything from going on a walk, to siblings, to phone calls and social media. it really is proximity and ready-to-go nature, taking on the qualities of whatever planet is closest to it and integrating the qualities of the sign it crosses into.
Jupiter:
Jupiter, what once could've been a second star within our solar system, expands whatever sign and house that it finds itself in, giving a gift of wisdom and luck to whatever actions are taken within the realm of the sign and house affected. being farther from the Sun than the Earth, Jupiter can be in any place in the chart relative to the Sun. having a very beautiful distance from the Sun, this planet takes just under 12 years to travel around the zodiacal wheel, about a year in each sign, and is retrograde once every 13 months or so, for about 4 months at a time.
as it has such a pleasant and reasonable distance from the Sun, it's personality and rulerships often resemble that of the Sun, with an aspect of mentorship involved. contrasting Mercury, who is outside of the soul yet directly involved it, Jupiter lies within the soul and remains separate from it. this is seen through how it gives and gives and gives to the point of sometimes giving too much, being charitable but not necessarily generous (as Venus is), this planet has a humanitarian/human approach while remaining a divine force of nature. Jupiter speaks of freedom while organizing the internal structure, influencing the opinion of freedom and free will.
an optimist, a teacher, and an explorer, Jupiter understands that without experience all remains theoretical, and wishes to see the bigger picture to whatever is being done. this depth of understanding being within Jupiter's goals is what causes it's rulership over the vascular system, mainly ruling over the liver, lymphatic nodes, and blood vessels (not blood itself, as Gemini does).
being something that wants to be all over, into every nook and cranny, understanding every word, Jupiter is found in places of learning, of religious theory, of dreams, in places far from home and in cultures much different from one's own. it's about things that can't necessarily be seen, things that seem far from logic and the physical world: textbooks, innate talents, foreign journeys, dreams, spiritual experiences, hospitals, self worth, self understanding, truth, and success. yet, lacks understanding of when enough is enough.
as with all things that are opposite, they still reside on the same coin. so, there's a few things that these two planets have in common while still finding different ways to approach their goals and needs:
experience: both planets want to be able to experience everything, while Mercury is focused on having intellectual and practical experience, Jupiter prefers emotional and passionate experiences.
efficiency: both are involved in the processes of organizing and conducting, however, Mercury corrects mistakes and Jupiter praises successes.
understanding: the true meaning of understanding is different between these planets, for Mercury, understanding is the ability to redirect and manipulate knowledge to form better solutions, and for Jupiter, understanding is the feeling of knowing and the growth that accompanies being able to master a subject.
detail: Mercury is the weightlessness of a small detail, and the logic used to deduce it, of how everything is connected. Jupiter is the journey that was taken to find the detail, the freedom of being able to discover it, and how everything is connected.

'counseling' each placement - for a better life; [Mercury version] part 1
Tumblr media
pic not mine
Mercury in Aries - Try to exercise more patience, less sense of urgency. This can generate a lot of anxiety. Look at the other options more openly. Be careful not to impose too much your thinking on others, and this ends up generating several conflicts around you. tips: meditation, breathing exercises.
Mercury in Taurus: Work on adapting to changes in plans, understand that not everything will go the way you planned. Understanding things in a practical and objective way is important, but being open to other ways of interpreting can be great. Don't be inflexible with life itself and with the change of direction. Work your mind to understand points in life that may go unnoticed by your mind, still focused on thinking like years ago.
Mercury in Gemini - Don't push yourself mentally - your mind does a lot of work in an entire day. Try to analyze things before starting them. Know something in more depth before you believe you know them. Take time to rest your mind and do something that relaxes you, that doesn't influences your thoughts. And I say this for the tendency to feel anxiety. Try as much as possible to remove simultaneous stimuli from (study) environments, this will greatly impact your productivity and efficiency.
Mercury in Cancer: Don't analyze things solely on the basis of emotions. This may be how you function and this is who you are, this is your essence, but that doesn't mean that nothing can improve. Emotions are important, but understand that not everything the other does can be based on an emotional issue. Don't hold annoyances, as they can surface in the future, contaminating the interpretation of situations and people. In short: don't take things personally. Talk about your annoyances! this will avoid problems.
Mercury in Leo - Work your acceptance to hear 'No' when you expected 'Yes'. Try to understand when something can't be done. Don't communicate aggressively or defensively after hearing something different from what you expected - such as a criticism. Notice tendencies to demand a lot of attention when it is not the case to receive it. Use your creativity and power of expression in your favor, constructively, taking others into consideration as well. Believe in your potential.
Mercury in Virgo: Try not to see everything in a practical way. exercise the pleasure of looking at what has already been done, and less at what needs to be done. Don't blame yourself so much for the mistakes you make. Try to be less critical and appreciate your time more as a way to relax a little too. Work your creative side, reception for abstract messages is something very important for a healthy psychological, as well as for self-knowledge. Not everything is made of concreteness and objectivity.
Mercury in Libra - Incorporate into your mental activity things that are also related to yourself, purely understanding, without involving anyone else. Learn to communicate sad things as well. Remember your potentials. Doubt less of something you have noticed, decided, said. Depend less on the analysis of others and create internal parameters to decide if what you did was good or bad. Realize the problems around you, stopping to avoid conflicts of ideas all the time - which are sometimes necessary. Understand who you are: take time to yourself and understand your thoughts, the root of your decisions. Don't be such a perfectionist. Take care of your mental health and how much other people's expectations affect you.
Mercury in Scorpio: Work on your mental inflexibility. Understand more the faults of others, from a more comprehensive point of view. Understand more openly the peaks and troughs of life, and even your personality. Don't hold grudge, anger, explain what you think of something - from the beginning, because holding it will generate an accumulation of information that will most likely be distorted by your mind. Beware of extreme views of people or things. Use your ability to be observant.
Mercury in Sagittarius - Watch out for a tendency to over-imagine things, idealizing them and seeing life in a very different way than it is: a life that will tend to work out even if you don't do something. We always have to do something. Pay attention to indiscipline and try to be more realistic. Beware of promises you make to others and a tendency to be mentally irresponsible.
Mercury in Capricorn: Don't try to control every detail. Accept that things will get out of your control. Beware of a possible habit of forgetting to consider other needs because yours are involved. Planning is important, but understanding unforeseen events too. Let go more, let things flow. Don't analyze everything as if it needed to have an end goal. People and emotions don't need earthly and concrete filters - not always.
Mercury in Aquarius - It's extremely important to understand your flow of thoughts. You tend to think a lot, reflect on different points of the same question, starting at one point and ending at another. This can be great for analyzing problems, finding solutions, understanding issues. But it can also complicate your life a lot, especially when dealing with matters that need to be externalized, talked about. Therefore, be very careful with a tendency to always want to understand a subject from the inside and forget about exchanges, conversations, to externalize. Work on practicality: making thoughts useful, which is certainly possible to do, as you tend to be deep mentally speaking. Beware of anxiety. The more you empty the "mental cup" somehow before it fills up, the better it will be for your mental health. If practicality is difficult, as Aquarius is a much more "aerial" sign, work on your creative side! Use music, for example, as a way to lighten the mental load. Dialogue.
Mercury in Pisces: Try not to be so impacted by everything around you, whether visions about you or what happens in general. Or, if this is complicated, try to notice when you are impacted by something that had nothing to do with you, but that you later incorporated into your thoughts. Don't be soooo fickle, use your ability to go in other ways to your advantage. Use this ability to grow in your individuality: Pisces is a great sign for studying things that for others seem difficult and complex to decipher, especially those related to the emotional. Believe in your communication and persuasion potential as long as you move intelligently, working with the knowledge you tend to have / absorb of what others are, want, need.

Just to remind you (you may be aware but may be not) that we are under Mercury Retrograde period (motion Libra -Virgo), started on 09.09.2022 until 02.10.2022, and what are the general astrological tendencies under this energy:
MERCURY RETROGRADE
Mercury, in astrology, is a planet of communication, thinking, our mind, short trips and communication devices (phones, tv, computers, etc.)
During this astrological period misinformation, miscommunications and forgetfulness are likely to be experiences. Our mind, thinking and analysing processes, communication abilities could be interrupted.
Problems with technical devices may occur – phones, computers, machinery, cars.
As Mercury also rules documents, administrative activities, data base, etc. mistakes with such matters could be the case too.
Therefore, be aware with signing contracts, double check when fill in up documents, applications and when dealing with administrative matters. Postpone, if possible, to sign documents, contracts, agreements because problems and mistakes could be easily made and you may have to deal with such consequences later.
Don’t fix devices, cars or any technical equipment during this period (if is not necessary) because it’s likely that they may break up again. It’s advisable also short distance travels to be reduced because travel problems, accidents, problems with vehicles may occur during such trips. Losing phones, documents, data, keys, etc. is another possibility during this retrograde season. Be careful with pins, passwords, bank details, emails, with whom and how you share such information. Be also aware with fraud emails, SMSs, scam phone calls, etc.
Because the retrograde motion of Mercury is in Libra – Virgo signs relationship issues – personal or professional may need to be revise and dealt with. Unresolved problems with friends, family, community, employees may be experienced and you have to fix, clear up or to address such issues during this time. It is also possible, an old friend or someone from you past (you haven’t heard from a long time) may surface in your life, or you may get news for a such person/people. Health issues (if you have any) connected to lungs, nervous system or hands may resurface or appear; especially, if you have been ignoring them for some time.
Mercury retrograde is a favourable astrological period for study, undertaking coursers, research, planning or preparing your future projects or ventures. Use this time for education and preparation rather than taking action. If you do your homework, then the result will be three times more rewarding, than you expect, after the retrograde period.
Keep in mind that these are GENERAL ASTROLOGICAL TENDENCIES and how exactly this energy will influence you it’s depending on your personal horoscope, but most definitely you will feel these astrological events in one way or another, especially, in some areas in your life. And remember, that singe astrological event does not represent the whole picture in a personal or on a collective level.
Best wishes

All about Mercury ☿ in RX: Who is he?
mercury ☿ in retrograde ℞ occurs multiple times a year, but what can it mean each time that it happens?
we always receive the same message; this is a scare, this is a time where you can't progress, and you can't cut your hair. it can be annoying, repetitive, and uncomfortable because mercury in retrograde ℞ can be seen as a period of renovation.
mercury is our planet of thoughts and of the way we communicate. it is the planet that governs mathematics, measurements, numbers, the eyes, the thoughts, and the way we communicate. it is the evolution of making a connection with others.
mercury ☿ going retrograde ℞ only means that this is hermit energy; we are to go and reflect about any events, feelings, thoughts, and the way we walk towards passion in our lives. mercury ☿ gives us perspective, and has us focus on what why and how we look at most loved and hated subjects in life.
retrograde ℞ only means going within, but can also subject to reviving, reorganizing, throwing out the trash to restart, and even trying to relocate ourselves to benefit our love and happiness.
like always, love saves the day, but it also involves sacrifice. we must leave and purge to find space and room for brand new things. mercury in retrograde is truly all about those moments of purging and letting go of any thoughts that don't fit us anymore. we can cut out hair, but only for the benefit that you're leaving behind a style and look that doesn't help you anymore.
overall, this is all about our thoughts, our perspectives, what we see and observe. you are of free will, and to make choices that suit you; see these periods with mercury ☿ as a time of going through reflection of the choices you're making and the connections you're creating. a highlighter if you will.
