In the past, you’d been told that your relationship with Klaus didn’t make any sense. You ignored them. They don’t know us, you thought. They don’t understand what we’ve gone through. And that, for the most part, was true.
You were turned with the Mikaelsons when you were only twenty-one years old. You and Klaus had stuck together since then. Through all the trials and tribulations, you two were inseparable. The daggering of his siblings, the hunter’s curse, his enemies coming after you, trying to break his curse—you were there every step of the way. Nothing could make you leave him. In your mind, it didn’t matter what obstacle life threw at you; you’d beat it. You beat it every single time.
Later, you realized that you should’ve known this would happen sooner.
You should’ve known that it was too good to be true.
You could still remember walking into your shared apartment that day in the nineties. You were on top of the tallest mountain, feeling like you were on top of the world. Until suddenly you fell, plummeting down to the ground as the life you’d built fell with you. But that wasn’t the right word to use. You did not fall that day.
You were pushed.
“Nik, I got the-”  you cut yourself off, dropping the bags in your hands to the ground. Something in them cracked, but you couldn’t hear a thing. Your world went silent; it was as if the only cracking you could hear was the cracking of your own heart.
Klaus quickly got up, speeding to you. While he was able to get his pants on quickly, there was nothing he could do to hide the blonde in his bed- your bed.
“Y/N, love, it’s not-”
“It’s not what, Klaus?” Tears that you didn’t even know were there raced down your cheeks. You saw him wince when you addressed him. You never called him that.
“This is not what it looks like.”
“Oh, really? So you didn’t just fuck this girl in our bed?” At that, his eyes went downcast. You felt your hands shake. He had no explanation to give you and you knew that; it wouldn’t matter if he had one, anyway. You weren’t gonna stick around to listen to it.
You sped out of your shared apartment as fast as you could, not caring if any human onlookers saw. That day, you swore to yourself that you were done.
You should’ve known better.
That day, you ended up running to Elijah, hoping he would give you refuge, but you knew now that it was wishful thinking. It didn’t matter that Klaus and Elijah were fighting. It didn’t matter how close you and the nobleman were, how much he claimed to care for you. At the end of the day, his brother would still mean more to him.
So, that same day, Elijah brought you right back to Klaus.
You refused to talk to him, but he begged, and begged, and begged. He promised, and promised, and promised. He showered you with affection and more sweet-nothings than he’d ever given you. So, you thought to yourself, he’s trying. He just made a dumb mistake. We all deserve second chances.
You kick yourself now for ever being so stupid. But, at the time, all you could think about was the centuries upon centuries of love the two of you shared. It felt like a crime to throw it all away over one mistake.
But it wasn’t just one mistake.
“Y/N, love, please don’t do this-” Klaus reached a hand out to grab your arm, but you shoved him away. You stormed out of the house, your husband following right behind you. It was pouring outside, but you didn’t care. There was a much more dangerous storm brewing inside of you. You’d prefer to be out in the rain than to ever be in that house with him again.
“Y/N, please-”
“Get the hell away from me.”
“Y/N-”
You spun on your heel and exploded, “Get the hell away from me, Klaus!” The rain hid it all so well, but you were both crying.
“Please, I can’t lose you.” You finally broke down, letting out a sob. You fell down to the ground as Klaus tried desperately to catch you, ending up kneeling on the ground next to you.
You tried to hard to be strong, not to cry, but you couldn’t help it. You were smart; you knew better than to let a man do this to you. But, when it came to Klaus, the man you’d spent your entire life with, your heart overpowered your head.
Your voice cracked with every word you spoke. “You said this would never happen again.”
“Love-”
“No, you promised me, Nik, you said never again.” He opened his mouth to speak, but you didn’t let him get a word in. “You said you would never put me through this again-”
“Y/N-”
“It’s been all of ten years, and here we are, in the same position you put us in last time-” You cut yourself off sobbing as your voice failed you. You buried your head in your hands. The heartbreak you felt was ineffable, so much more intense than the last time. When you said your vows all those years ago, so high on happiness, you never could’ve imagined that you’d one day feel like this—that Klaus would make you feel like this.
He didn’t say anything else. There was nothing to say. There was no defence for what he was doing to you. So instead, he wrapped his arms around you, and being tired, you let him.
It was funny, almost. Even as he engulfed you in his warmth, even after he took you inside and placed you by the fireplace, you still felt so cold.
After the second time, you left him. You woke up the morning after, wrapped in his arms, and you left without looking back. Leaving him almost hurt just as much as catching him in the act, but you knew this was what was best. You needed to do this.
This time, you didn’t go to Elijah. You cut off all communication with the Mikaelsons completely, even though they were both blowing up your phone. After the first fifty phone calls, you threw it in a dumpster.
Being away from Klaus made you feel better, but you still didn’t feel like you. For a long time, you felt broken, incomplete, so used. You didn’t know who you were without him. But you got better.
Slowly, you built yourself back up, building walls around your heart so that no one could ever do that to you again. But if Klaus was the big bad wolf, then you may as well have just been a little piggy because, when he found you, he blew those walls down effortlessly as if they were made of straw.
See, Klaus Mikaelson was like a whirlpool: try and swim away all you want, but he would just keep sucking you in until you’d eventually die.
You should’ve known better.
You walked into your apartment with a kick in your step. It was a good day; you were happy. But the smile on your face dropped when you saw the figure standing in your home.
You tried to go back out through the door, but Klaus was faster, speeding to you and closing it shut, caging you between the door and him. You let out a shaky breath, unable to turn around as you rested your forehead against the door, tears welling in your eyes.
It’d been three years since you last saw him, the longest you’d ever gone without seeing him, yet he still made you feel things that no one else on earth could.
For a moment, you were both mute until you broke the silence, whispering, “What are you doing here?”
You heard him swallow as if he was scared, but you were the one that was terrified. Klaus would never lay a hand on you, but he could hurt you in ways that were so much worse, so at that moment, you feared for your life. Because you knew that, with the right words, he could get you to fall into his trap again, and going through all this again would kill you.
“I-” he paused, like he was gathering his thoughts. You thanked whatever god was out there that he didn’t make you face him. “I knew you were here, I just- I wanted you to have time to yourself, but, Y/N, it’s time to come home now.”
Your lips quivered as you struggled to hold the tears. He made it sound like this was a game, and maybe to him it was, but it wasn’t like that for you. This wasn’t a break that you’d just “come back” from; you were done, you promised yourself that.
You shook your head, but Klaus spoke before you could even utter your protests. “I can break my curse.” Your eyes involuntarily went wide, not having expected that. You were just about to spin around, but he turned you first. As soon as your eyes met his, you couldn’t help the tear that fell down your face.
It was like you forgot how beautiful he could be.
He looked to be having somewhat of the same reaction as you, scanning over you as if couldn’t tell that you were real. And honestly, you even felt like pinching yourself, too.
His voice got softer. “There’s a girl in Virginia, the doppelgänger.” He paused to let you say something, but you were so taken aback by everything that’d happened after you stepped into your apartment that you were practically speechless. How ironic. You’d spent months agonizing over all you’d say to him if you ever saw him again, but now that you were, you had nothing to say.
“I am so close, Y/N,” he whispered. His hands cupped your cheek so gently that a stranger would’ve never guessed that this man had destroyed entire villages, that he even destroyed you, too. When he rested his forehead on yours, the tears that you were trying so hard to hold in came falling like your eyes were a waterfall. “I can- I can wake the rest of the family. Rebekah, Kol, Finn- I know how much you miss them all.”
Your heart tightened in your chest because you did miss them, but you forgot just how much you missed him.
“We can be a family again, Y/N.” You screwed your eyes shut. Your husband was a smart man. Whether the tears in his eyes were real or if he was just a great actor, you couldn’t be sure, but he knew exactly what your weak-spots were and he was using them against you.
This wasn’t fair, you thought. This wasn’t fair at all.
“Please, let us be a family again.” You opened your eyes, biting your lip to prevent the sobs from escaping. “I love you.” Oh, you should’ve kept your eyes closed. You should’ve sped out the door the second you saw him. You should’ve ran farther, tried harder to disappear so that he would’ve never found you.
But none of that mattered.
Because, just like that, you folded.
After a week, you ended up leaving with Klaus. You helped him with his plans to become a hybrid, and he was trying, you could tell he was really trying, but your marriage wasn’t the same. Whenever you kissed him, you couldn’t help but wonder, did she kiss him like this? When you made love, you wondered, was he so tender and loving with her, too? Were you even as special as he told you that you were?
There was only so much trying he could do. You knew the damage was done. You now had insecurities that no amount of sweet words could ever get rid of. You were such a confident woman, but you didn’t feel that way, not anymore.
Your mirror was cracked, sure, but you could still see yourself. You still saw a future, a bright future. You, Klaus, Elijah, Rebekah, Kol, Finn—you could all be a family, just like Klaus told you that day. You could see it.
So you stayed.
Eventually, they were all woken up. For a while, things felt normal, like when you’d been human. But you were starting to learn that good things never lasted long enough.
When Esther came back, she tried to kill you all. You defeated her, as a family, but no matter how hard you tried to convince them, your siblings all left. This family’s broken, Kol said to you. You’d best get out while you can, Y/N.
You should’ve listened to him.
But you didn’t, and you’d later wonder if things would’ve been different. If you took Kol’s offer to come with him, to leave your husband and travel the world, then would you have been happy?
You tell yourself you’d never know, but you knew deep down that you would’ve been happy, that at least you wouldn’t have been devastated.
It was only you and Rebekah; you were the only ones that could stick by Klaus. In that way, you two were one in the same, two sides of the same coin. You’d always be living in the same hell, trying to get to heaven by being loyal to him, but little did you both know, the longer you stayed, the deeper down into hell you went. Until heaven was unobtainable.
For a while, things were okay. You and Klaus were okay—God, you were just getting to okay. And then Kol died.
That took the cake. Nothing you’d ever felt was so painful, not even what your soulmate did to you, or the man who was supposed to be your soulmate.
Suddenly, you were wishing you could turn back time, wishing you could’ve gone with Kol when he asked you to, wishing you could’ve spent more time with him—you just got him back.
After Kol’s death, it was like the idea of a family became unobtainable, too.
You were in pieces, but Rebekah stayed strong. She handled Klaus while you couldn’t, because wasn’t that your job? What else were you here for—what else were either of you here for?
You wanted to kill Jeremy Gilbert, to rip him and Elena to shreds and to make the Salvatores watch. You wanted them to feel even an inch of your pain, but Klaus didn’t let you, and you resented him for it.
The way he behaved after Kol’s death was unforgivable to you, but you were able to see past it because what was his death if it wasn’t a wake up call? You didn’t want to take this life for granted; you didn’t want to wake up one day, regretting not spending time with your husband because he was dead.
So you repaired the bond that was severed after Kol. You held him and he held you just as tight, if not tighter. Neither of you wanted to lose the other. So you worked for it, you worked for something better, you worked to be something like what you were before—to be anything like what you were before.
But, oh, you should’ve known better.
You didn’t walk in on Klaus cheating on you a third time. He confessed to you, tears in his eyes. He begged, and made promises, and begged, and begged, and cried, and cried, and he did the whole routine, but you were silent throughout it all.
You didn’t cry. You felt like your body was out of tears. God knows you’d cried an ocean away for Klaus, for this family, for the family you could’ve had.
You didn’t say anything, but you knew better now. You weren’t gonna run away, you’d learned from your mistakes. Instead, you moved into a different room in the house. The flowers, the jewelry, the sweet words—oh, all of the things that’d made you swoon in the past didn’t faze you. You’d been force-fed so many sweet words that you now had a tooth ache that no doctor could fix.
You didn’t talk to Klaus for weeks, but when the time came, you followed him to New Orleans. You were practically lifeless, but when Klaus brought you into a bar and you were met with the sight of the boy you took in, the boy you thought died, it was like someone took a defibrillator to your chest.
Hugging Marcel for the first time in almost a century was like CPR. Is this a play? you wondered. Is this Klaus’ strategy? But at that moment, it didn’t matter. Once again, you were reminded of Kol. You needed to cherish your loved ones while you still could, and so it didn’t matter if Klaus was using Marcel to get you to crack, you’d appreciate it, anyway.
But you should’ve known better. You should’ve known that you couldn’t be happy.
When you got to the plantation late at night, the house Klaus insisted you stay in, you were confused to see a brunette woman standing on the stairs.
You furrowed your brows while the woman’s went up. She looked like a deer in headlights. Before you could ask her any questions, your sister came into view. She looked almost as shocked as you.
“Rebekah?”
She ignored you. “You’re here,” she said, surprise lacing her voice and an unknown emotion in her eyes.
“Yes, I am.” You glanced in between Rebekah and the brunette, starting to become unnerved with their expressions. You didn’t know why she was surprised that you were here; it was you who should’ve been surprised at her arrival.
You should’ve known better.
“Elijah- Elijah didn’t tell me you’d be here.”
You only got more confused as she went on. “Elijah’s here?”
She ignored you again, scoffing under her breath, shaking her head at the ground. “My brother’s a fool,” she muttered. And only then did you realize that the emotion in her eyes was pity.
You looked back to the brown-haired woman, instantly realizing why she was looking at you like you were going to attack her. Quickly, you looked away before you actually did. You didn’t say the exact words out loud, but they knew that you knew.
“What is she doing here?” Your voice was sharp; you saw the girl flinch out of the corner of her eye.
When Rebekah looked up at you, you felt your heart drop. She looked at you like you were the last to be let in on the secret, like she knew she was about to single-handedly crush you. Softly, she told you, “Listen.” And so you did.
And then every other time your heart broke felt like nothing. Nothing could compare to the utter shock you felt, the pain. Because you heard a little heartbeat, and you knew the implication Rebekah was making.
You looked up to the girl to see that she was about to cry. That almost made you lose it. Who was she to cry? you thought.
You looked at Rebekah to see tears in her eyes, too. “How?” You asked, but she didn’t get a chance to reply.
“Niklaus is a hybrid, Y/N.” You turned to see Elijah slowly walking into the room. He looked careful, almost, like anything he said could set you off. “He’s not a full vampire-”
“And she’s human,” you cut him off, humourlessly chuckling. The human girl gave him a baby.
You couldn’t help but wonder, if you had a baby while you were human, would your marriage have ended up this way?
But none of that mattered. Right now, it felt like nothing mattered. Just as you thought there was nothing more Klaus could do to you, he gets his one night stand pregnant. Now she wasn’t so much of a one night stand anymore, was she?
Your siblings were looking at you like you were a china doll, like their brother had just thrown you and they were waiting for you to break. But your face was blank. On the inside, however, there was an entire hurricane taking place, but it was like your body refused to release any of it. Oh, you wanted to break down, you wanted to so badly, but it felt impossible.
There was nothing more to say- nothing you cared to hear, anyway. So you slowly walked up the stairs, heading for a guest room, ignoring Rebekah and Elijah’s calls. The blonde started crying, and if you’d looked down, then you would’ve seen Elijah burning a hole into the ground with his gaze.
You didn’t want to look at either of them, especially not your husband’s right hand man. You were growing to resent Elijah, even though there was a time when you were the best of friends. Maybe if he hadn’t brought you back to Klaus that day in 1996, then you could’ve been spared this horrible, horrible feeling. But no. Any relationship you had with a Mikaelson was trumped by the relationship they had with Klaus.
Of course, they were here, you thought. Of course, they come running back to him the second he does something stupid.
But how mad at them could you really be?
Haven’t you always been doing the same thing?
After you’d gone up stairs, you could remember popping open an old bottle of whiskey and drinking until your vision was hazy. You couldn’t remember when you fell asleep, but when you awoke, Klaus was right there in bed next to you.
You ignored your thoughts, questioning the nerve of him to get in bed with you after what you’d found out, and walked out of the room.
But you didn’t feel as angry as the night before. You felt numb, almost. The last time you felt so empty was after your parents died a thousand years ago. It didn’t necessarily bother you, though. Feeling nothing felt better than feeling everything.
So you let it be. You showered, got dressed, and left the house. Rebekah and Elijah stared at you as you left, but you didn’t give them the time of day. You went and met Marcel for breakfast like everything was fine, went shopping, then you came back home and climbed into bed. When you woke up, Klaus was there again, but you ignored it and continued with your routine.
For three weeks, you didn’t say a word to your husband. He could barely even try to speak to you; you were gone all day everyday and you were asleep by the time he came home. Rebekah would try to make conversation whenever she saw you, but she only received short answers. Elijah didn’t even try; something told you he felt guilty, and you hoped he did. The pregnant werewolf whose name you learned was Hayley would tense up every time you crossed paths. Once, she tried to apologize to you, but it was as if she were talking to a wall because you didn’t give her the slightest bit of attention.
While you weren’t communicating with the people you lived with, when you went out into the Quarter, you were a different person. You were lively, and confident, and funny, and you didn’t look like a woman whose husband cheated on her. Marcel was constantly introducing you to people; you were always surrounded by people, and while you felt so alone at first, as time progressed, you stopped feeling so lonely.
Suddenly, it was like that hole in you started to heal. The hole was still there, but it was getting better.
One day, one of your new friends introduced you to this boy, this young, newly turned boy. And, looking at him, you felt something other than despair: you felt like you were human again. Talking to him made you feel things that you forgot existed, things Klaus used to make you feel on a daily basis.
This boy was good. He was pure, and happy, and full of life, even though he was dead.
It felt wrong at first. Klaus was the only man you had ever been with. But perhaps that was why you liked this boy so much: he reminded you of a side of your lover that had been long dormant, the side of Klaus you fell in love with.
You never slept with him. You never even kissed him. All you did was feel something.
But that didn’t matter.
Oh, you should’ve known better.
So much better.
You opened the door, your bag immediately falling to the ground at the sight you were met with. “No- no, no, no.” You sped into the living room, falling to your knees. Your tears fell with you.
In front of you, the sweet, sweet boy you were starting to feel something for was lying dead in his own apartment. You wished it wasn’t real, but his body was grey, veins all over him. With the hole in his chest, he didn’t look so peaceful anymore.
You cupped your hand over your mouth in shock, silently sobbing. You were so distraught that you didn’t even notice the footsteps behind you.
“I ripped his heart out.” You turned your head to see none other than your husband standing a few feet away from you, the red organ in his hand. While your vision was blurred, you could still see the quiet anger on his face, even though he seemed emotionless. He dropped Leo’s heart on to the ground like it was nothing.
Suddenly, a fire that you thought died out alit in your body. You all but sneered, “What is wrong with you?”
Klaus humourlessly chuckled. It was almost like you couldn’t recognize him, but oh, he had never looked more like himself. “What’s wrong with me?” He echoed. “What’s wrong with me is my wife has been sneaking around behind my back.”
You scoffed in utter disbelief and shot up from the ground. “Oh, so I’m the villain now? I’m sorry, saint Klaus, I didn’t know you were so innocent.”
“Don’t start this with me.”
You snapped. “You started this! I have been living in that house with you and your pregnant werewolf, leaving you to your own devices, but the second I try to be happy, I’m the one in the wrong?”
“Y/N-”
“No, I- I can’t even believe what I’m hearing right now.” A laugh escaped from your lips, full of darkness. “I have not done any damage to this marriage.” You pointed at him. “You’re the one who broke your vows, not me. Forgive me for wanting to clutch at any happiness I could have after you took it all from me.”
Klaus pointed right back at you. “Our marriage isn’t over, Y/N- it will never be. I will never let you forget that.”
You shook your head. “This isn’t a marriage anymore.” Klaus’ mouth opened to protest, but you kept going. Everything you held in and didn’t say was coming up like bile in your throat that you desperately wanted to vomit. “You have destroyed this marriage, Klaus! Hell, you destroyed me.” You pointed to yourself, more tears coming to your eyes. “You have cheated not once but three times, and you got the last one pregnant! But the second I- what? The second I so much as talk to a man, you go and rip his heart out and get mad at me? Do you hear how insane that sounds?”
His jaw clenched, and maybe there was some sign of regret or remorse in his eyes, but you honestly couldn’t care less about his feelings at the moment. “Y/N-” he started, but you didn’t dare let him finish.
“No, it’s you who threw a thousand years down the drain, not me.” You took a step closer to him until you were chest to chest and you were looking right into his eyes. Maybe this would’ve ended in a kiss in the past, but your relationship was no longer the same. You grit your teeth.“I will never let you forget that.”
You then sped out of the apartment, running and running and not stopping until you were in an area you no longer recognized. Once you stopped, you let all of your tears fall, resting a hand on your chest and running the other through your hair. Your heart and your head were both pounding. Every time you thought Klaus couldn’t go any lower, he proved you wrong.
So, standing in the middle of nowhere, you grieved the loss of that poor boy, and at the same time, you grieved the loss of the man who was once your best friend. You grieved the loss of your marriage.
Because this was more than just killing a boy.
In doing this, Klaus killed another part of your marriage when you weren’t sure there was even anything left to kill.
After crying your heart out, you returned to the plantation and went straight to sleep. For a week, you stayed in bed, in spite of Rebekah who came knocking on your door every morning. One time, she didn’t leave so quickly after you remained mute. She sat on your bed, demanding that you eat something. When, throughout all her best efforts, you stayed silent, she threw the glass of blood onto the ground, breaking down and sobbing. Tears ran down her face as she pleaded to you, but you only stared at the wall, expressionless.
She apologized to you in between in her tears, even though it wasn’t her fault, even though you were only this way because of Klaus. But, oh, wasn’t that Rebekah’s specialty? Wasn’t that yours—stuck paying for the sins of the hybrid for the rest of your lives?
She cried, and cried, and cried, until she eventually left the room, too exhausted to keep dancing the same dance. She didn’t come back again.
You never cleaned the blood on the floor from the glass she threw. If anything, you hoped it soaked in and ruined the mahogany floors of this god awful house. It wasn’t long before you wouldn’t have to stare at that stain anymore because Klaus had come to tell you that you were leaving. You’d all be going to the Abattoir, he said.
You were confused; that was where Marcel stayed. So, for the first time in a week, you spoke. When you found out about the altercation they had, you recoiled. Both disgust and shock were on your face: disgusted at your husband’s behaviour and shocked with how he was treating Marcel.
You felt like screaming at him, but you didn’t have enough energy. Instead, you just stared at him. With your voice just barely above a whisper, you told him, That is your son, Klaus. You hoped that conveyed everything else you wanted to say. And you knew your message was received when Klaus walked out of your room without another word.
When you arrived at the compound, little changed. You and your husband still didn’t talk. Soon, when your siblings arrived, you didn’t speak to them either. Life went on this way for a long time.
Until Hayley gave birth.
Oh, life had felt so slow, but suddenly it started moving so fast.
When you first laid your eyes on little Hope, tears came to your eyes. She looked just like her father, you thought. And while you had never wanted anything to do with this, what Klaus had done, you couldn’t find it in yourself to condemn an innocent child.
Maybe Rebekah and Elijah would pay for their brother’s mistakes. Maybe you would, too. But you’d be damned if you let that baby suffer solely for being a Mikaelson.
Even if it meant you’d suffer the most.
The night Klaus came to you, you didn’t greet him, but you didn’t look at him so scathingly, either. In the courtyard, he asked something of you that’d change the rest of your life.
“Y/N, I know we’re not on the best of terms- I know I haven’t been a faithful husband, nor a good one,” he admitted, glancing down as if he were nervous before looking back up to your eyes. This was serious, and he wanted you to know that. “I know you don’t deserve this, and I know you never signed up for this. But I need your help.”
You straightened your shoulders. Whatever he was going to say, it looked like it physically pained him to say it. You wondered if this speech was inspired by Elijah, but you diverted your thoughts away from that. This wasn’t about your marriage; this was about something more important.
“You’re the only person I trust enough to do this, the only person I can really ask. It’s wrong of me to put this pressure on you after everything I’ve done, but I wouldn’t be asking if this weren’t so dire- you have to believe me.” He grabbed onto your hands, and you let him, even though it made you want to die, because when your skin made contact, you felt his hands tremble.
“Hope can’t be here; it’s not safe. The people of this city now know she is my weakness, and they will do anything to spite me, you’ve seen it firsthand.” You knew exactly what he was referring to: the day the witches tried to kill her. At the thought, you tensed. You saw tears gather in his eyes. “Please, I need her not to be here right now-”
You cut him off, almost in a state of awe as you realized what this was all about. “You need them to think she’s dead.” Your voice was breathy, like you’d just finished running a marathon, and wasn’t that what life was like in this family? With the Mikaelsons, no matter how powerful you all were, you’d always be running from something, fighting something. That couldn’t happen to Hope- not now, not yet. And so, without so much as another thought, you agreed, “I’ll do it.”
“Y/N-”
“No, Klaus, I’m doing this.” For the first time since you got to New Orleans, he saw a spark in your eye that you both thought had been extinguished. “I’ll take her, and I will protect her with my life.”
After that, he just stared at you for a few seconds. And for a moment, you as you held eye contact, you caught a glimpse of the man you fell in love with. For a moment, it almost felt like everything was alright, like he never cheated and like you never left. For a moment, the world stopped, and it was just you and him against the world.
But you knew better now.
You were startled when your husband suddenly embraced you tightly as if he never wanted to let you go. And then you realized how you couldn’t remember the last time you’d hugged. So, after a few seconds, if not just for the sake of it, you hugged him back. Although he quietly stammered his next words out, he still said them with more sincerity than you’ve heard from him in a long time. “I’m so sorry, Y/N.”
You knew he was referring to more than just what he was asking of you. But, oh, you knew better now.
“I know.”
Not long after you and Klaus had that conversation, you took Hope. For the first time since you met her that day and found out she was pregnant, you actually talked to Hayley. Her eyes widened, like she couldn’t believe it. You told her that this didn’t make you two friends, but you also promised her that you’d look after her daughter.
She thanked you after a beat of silence, and then you and Hope disappeared.
You were gone for a while until your family’s drama eased up and you got the okay to come back to the Quarter. In that time, Hope’s parents missed their daughter’s first Christmas and also her birthday. But you made sure to take all the pictures you could. Even with the way you felt about them both, you weren’t gonna let those feelings get in the way of their relationship with Hope.
Their family, rather. When you returned, you realized that this was no longer your family. Eating dinner with them your first night back only proved that to you. This baby had changed all of you. You no longer knew your husband, and he no longer knew you.
When you first arrived to the compound, Klaus and Hayley came rushing to hug their little girl. The hybrid mouthed a thank you to you as he rubbed Hope’s back, tears in his eyes. The hostility you’d shown him from when he confessed he cheated on you all the way until just before you left New Orleans was gone. You couldn’t find it in you to be hostile as you watched him hold his daughter. In that moment, he was more than the man who betrayed you; he was a father who had been separated from his daughter.
That didn’t mean you forgave him, but you were trying to get there—for Hope.
Rebekah and Elijah showed up not a minute later. The blonde cooed at Hope while Elijah walked toward you, enveloping you in a hug that you couldn’t deny. You were worn out, and all you’d wanted this past year was to not be alone. But, deep down, you knew these efforts were futile. Things with your siblings would never be the same.
Rebekah had once been your best friend, but she was Klaus’ little sister first. Elijah was like an older brother to you, but he was Klaus’ first. The only person who could’ve possibly understood the way you were feeling was Kol, and he was long gone.
So, even as you stood in a room full of people, you still felt just as alone as when it’d only been you and Hope.
However, your epiphany didn’t matter. Maybe if it weren’t for Hope, you would’ve left and never turned back. Maybe you could’ve gone out and tried to find yourself, tried to be that same girl you were starting to like when you left Klaus in 2006. But Hope was there, and so you knew you couldn’t go anywhere. You had to stay with your family, even if they weren’t really your family anymore, because you just had to be there. You needed to protect Hope. You needed to keep Elijah from handling everything, and you needed to keep your little sister from spinning out. You needed to be there for Klaus to fall back on if he needed to, not for him, but to make sure he could be the best father he could possibly be to Hope.
To you, it wasn’t a choice. You needed to do this.
After all, didn’t you promise always and forever?
So, you stayed. You took care of Hope and took care of Klaus when Rebekah couldn’t take it anymore. It was almost as if your once other half and you had a silent agreement. He never tried anything, not even so much as holding your hand, but you were there for him as a friend, even though it broke your heart.
The two of you never officially ended things. Part of you wondered if maybe he thought you would get back together one day, but now you knew better than to ever expect anything like that. Yes, you would stay in the compound. And yes, you would take care of Hope. And yes, you would play nice with the mother of his child. But you were no longer Klaus and Y/N Mikaelson.
You were just Klaus and Y/N.
You never went out with another boy again. It was pointless, and you never wanted to fall for someone again if this was what love felt like, if it only ever brought you pain.
For years, things went this way. There were a few threats here and there, but they were taken care of every time. Hope was the most loved child in the world. She was starting to grow up, and so she was also starting to realize that her parents weren’t together. She was starting to realize that her father looked at the woman that’d been there all her life with a look of warmth in his eyes. She was starting to ask you questions that you didn’t know how to answer, questions you weren’t prepared to answer.
So, on Christmas Eve, after everyone had went to bed, you unscrewed the oldest bottle of liquor you had. You were originally saving it for a celebratory occasion, but you, too, were starting to realize things. You were starting to realize that, perhaps, the celebration would never come.
So you sat on the couch in the courtyard in front of the fireplace, unfazed by the cold. The Christmas tree diagonal to you glimmered and gleamed, but you were no longer so magnetized to it. Something in the last few years had taken away bits and pieces of your spirit until you were no longer sure it was even there anymore.
You took a swig of the wine, indulging in its bittersweetness as you stared straight into the fire, not caring if it’d blind you. For the first time since you turned, you loathed your immortality. At first, you looked at it like a blessing, something that’d give you an eternity with your family, an eternity to travel the world and enjoy all it had to offer you.
But now it was just a curse.
Just as you took another swig, you heard footsteps behind you, and suddenly the couch dipped, someone else sitting right beside you.
You could immediately tell who it was just from the mere grace of his actions. Elijah. You glanced at the nobleman, almost scoffing at his attire. Past midnight, and yet he was still in a suit.
Your voice was raspy as you remarked, “No rest for the wicked, huh?” Elijah sighed as you passed the bottle to him. For a second, you thought he’d scold you for not using a glass, but instead he took a large gulp straight from the bottle.
“It seems that way, Y/N,” he said, passing the bottle back to you. You chuckled, but there wasn’t much humour in your tone. He didn’t ask you why you were awake, nor did you ask him. You just sat together in front fireplace, passing the bottle back and forth. You didn’t know if you were both so silent because of how tired you were or if it was because your relationship had just become that fragile.
Sitting there, no Saint Nick came by in a magic sled. There were no reindeer, or bells, or snow. There was no magic to this holiday for you anymore, and you wondered if Elijah felt the same way. You wondered if he was as tired as he looked right now, as tired as you felt. If he was, then you couldn’t help but feel bad for him because, even though you had felt resentment for him, you wouldn’t wish this on anybody.
Still though, you wondered if you’d be sitting there if Elijah just let you go that day. You wondered how things would’ve turned out if he let himself go, too.
Like he was reading your mind, he suddenly turned to you and whispered, “I’m sorry, Y/N.” You turned to face him. While he looked serious, he looked more broken than you’d ever seen him. “I’m sorry I brought you back to him that day. I’m just now realizing that I’ve never apologized to you before.” You stared at him silently, and so he continued, looking back to the fire. “You could have been happy, and I took that opportunity away from you. So I am sorry.” He paused, like he was debating on saying something, a glazed look in his eyes as he lightly muttered, “More sorry than you’ll ever know.”
For what felt like forever but was really just a minute, you didn’t say anything. You, too, turned back to the fire, biting your lip as you tried to articulate what you wanted to say. “I think… I think, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter.” You saw him turn back to you out of the corner of your eye, but you didn’t look back. You didn’t know if you could say this while looking at him. “I think it would’ve ended up like this, anyway. I was his wife, not his keeper, but that didn’t matter. My love for him would’ve always made me stay and look after him, even though it kills me inside, even though I think I died a long time ago.” You swallowed. “My mother used to tell me to watch how boys treat me, but Nik wasn’t just any boy. I was so enthralled by the beauty of the fire that I didn’t care if I’d get burned- God, I just wanted to feel warm.” Unknowingly, a tear fell down your cheek. At that moment, you turned to your brother to see him watching you intently. You shook your head, giving him a small smile. “It wasn’t your fault, Elijah, it was mine. I should’ve known better.”
At that, you got up, leaving the bottle with Elijah, and you walked back to your room. You didn’t sleep that night, but when Hope came running into your room in the morning, screaming that Santa came, you pretended to be asleep so that she could wake you.
You sat through the opening of presents, Elijah looking at you differently than before. And you’d sit through multiple Christmases after this one.
No matter how much it hurt you or how it unhealthy it was, you knew you were locked in now, and you threw away the key ages ago. You couldn’t get off this ride, not even if you tried to.
Maybe, if you didn’t let Klaus pull you back in time and time again, then you wouldn’t be stuck. But you did, and now all you could do was just sit and let the roller coaster run its course, no matter how sick it made you or how many tears would leave your eyes when no one was watching.
Now, you’d be here always and forever. But you still couldn’t help but think-
You should’ve known better.

Santa Klaus
masterlist
pairing: niklaus mikaelson x female reader
warnings: fluff, some gore/blood, nikki being your lapdog, possesive, kissing, cursing, humor that was needed in tvd
summary: just some scenes of you and nik being a dream couple
a/n: idk with this one but these scenes popped into my head and i thought they were cute
song: paper rings - taylor swift
Tumblr media Tumblr media
"Niklaus!" you snap at him, as he stands at the doorway covered in blood. You two were at a store and a guy accidentally backed into you. He decided that the man didn't deserve to see another day after bumping into your precious self.
"Sorry, love- actually no, he deserved it," Klaus shrugs holding his hands up.
"Well in that case... come a little closer," you giggle. He narrows his eyes at you, but of course listens. He takes a slow step into the room and freezes when he feels himself soaked in cold water.
You burst out laughing as he stares at the wall. He slowly turns to you, as you continue to laugh.
"Figured you needed a shower, you know, for all that blood," you get out in between you giggles.
"That's it, if I am cold, you're going to be cold too," he grins as he speeds towards you, bringing you into a cold hug.
"Nik! Let me go!"
"Now why would I do that?"
Tumblr media
You were in the kitchen baking some cookies. You had the trays of them sitting on the stove as they cooled. You put some on a plate and turn around to get a paper towel. As you look back at the dish, you notice one missing.
"Hm, that's weird," you frowned. This then happened two more times, you realized it had to be Klaus. Either that or the cookies just happen to disappear.
"Nikki darling, stop being a baby and hiding," you pout. "Come out and face me like a real man," you try to say in a funny deep voice.
"I have no idea what you're talking about," he suppresses a smirk.
"Do you take me for a fool Niklaus?"
"... no?" you bring your hand up and smack the back of his head.
"Hey, what was th-" you cut him off by pressing your lips on his. You swipe your tongue on his bottom lip so he opens his mouth. He does, and you allow your tongue to roam his mouth. You pull back a few moments later.
"Funny, you taste like chocolate chip cookies," you laugh and start to run away.
"You sneak!" Klaus yells as he speeds up to you, throwing you over his shoulder and smiling at your adorable giggles.
Tumblr media
"AH!" Nik's high pitch scream reaches your ears while he jumps and covers his eyes.
You two were currently in the dark, watching a horror movie. You have seen it a few times already, so the jumpscares didn't bother you. The movie didn't interest you anymore either, but you watched it for the mere amusement you get from seeing Nik get scared.
"Nik don't be a wuss," you playfully roll your eyes.
"Did you see how that man looked?! He was- bloody hell!" Nik shouts as the guy popped up out of nowhere.
"Niklaus, you're as scary as that man to most-"
"Tosser! If I were still human, I would have died from a heart attack by now- fuck! Okay, love, that's it, we are watching something else"
He reaches over you and snatches the remote, putting on toy story.
"See, watching the story of toys that come to life is much more interesting. Don't you agree, love?"
"Sure... baby," you mutter with a grin. Laughter spills out of you when he attacks you with tickles.
Tumblr media
It was Christmas, you were dressed in a lovely deep red gown and your hair and makeup was done. While you looked like royalty, across from you was a Nik in a Santa costume.
You had been trying to get him to do this for years, but he never agreed. He refused to have something as stupid as a Santa costume ruin his reputation.
He even said, "I wouldn't be caught dead wearing this bloody thing"
To which you replied, "oh well, then I suppose it's a good thing you are already technically dead," you shrug with a cheeky smile.
Now that he finally gave in, your bucket list has been completed. He said he wouldn't leave the house with it, but he didn't say you couldn't take pictures.
"I don't see what's wrong with it, you look great in my opinion," you gave his fake beard a little tug.
"Y/n this was a horrible idea," he shakes his head.
"I think it was a great one, Santa Klaus," you give him a bright smile.
"This was very unnecessary, love"
"Your siblings disagree," your pretty lips turn into a small smirk.
"I beg your pardon?!"
A few moments ago, you sent some pictures of him to a secret group chat you're in with his siblings. Nik - of course - isn't in this one. The one with all of you is full of threats he sends to his family who mess around with him.
The photos got you replys such as, "I can't believe you got Niklaus to finally agree to that, LOL," from Elijah. "You underestimate Nik's love for you," and "I'm going to print these out and tape them everywhere in the house," from Rebekah. As well as, "I bloody love you, darling," and "my brother is going to kill me for what I'm about to do with these," from Kol. Finn gave you a simple, "well done," which you almost rolled your eyes at his unenthusiastic message.
"Oops," you shrug with a fake innocence.
Tumblr media
You were currently hunched over, laughing your arse off. You got Nik to wear an Easter Bunny costume. To your surprise, he let you paint whiskers on his face, along with a pink nose.
You finally are able to stop laughing, and look over his shoulder at the line of little children in a line, waiting to take picture with him.
"Go on, bunny. The kids are waiting," you peck his lips and pat his head.
"If you were anyone else you would be dead by now," he grumbles.
He was taking the pictures, when it was a new kids turn. You saw the fear in his eyes, you understood. You were also scared of the Easter Bunnies and Santa Clause's that you would see in stores and malls.
When he got to Nik, he sat on his right lap and started to cry. As you were about to go over, you hear Niklaus yelp as he quickly grabs the kid and lifts him off his lap and on to the floor.
You were confused when he rushed over to where you were standing, but burst out laughing with tears in your eyes as you saw a wet stain on his leg.
"Oh- m-my goodness! Th- this is gold!" you laugh out, grabbing your phone taking more pictures that you'll send to the groupchat later.
"Stupid children, I quit"
Tumblr media
You and Nik were in some random fancy restaurant in Paris. You both knew nothing in french, so you though you would have some fun.
You planned out a fake scenario to get a reaction out of the people in there with you both.
You fake gasp loudly, grabbing peoples attention around you.
"You sick fool!" you place your hand on your chest as you dramatically stand up. "You cheated on me?! With my sister!"
The room fills with synchronized gasps from the people around you.
"Love! No, I would never!"
"I just saw a picture! I also got sent a photo of you with what looks like my best friend!" More gasps come around you as people look between you both in shock.
Nik stands up hiding his amusement.
"They are fake! I was going to propose to you tonight! He says pulling out a fake ring he found," holding it in front of you, people start whispering with interest at what was unfolding before their eyes.
"My friend had the same ring the last time I saw her! How could you," you slap him in the face, knowing he was going to whine about how that was not a part of the act, later. Gasps of shock chorus around while some people have their eyes wide, and some are laughing into their hands.
You turn and speed walk out as Nik follows. Once you get outside, you both burst out laughing after holding it in for so long. You hold out your hand for a first bump as he connects his fist with yours.
"Oh that was brillitant!" you smile, wiping fake tears from under your eyes.
"Did you see their faces, love? They were bloody hilarious," Nik grins.
Tumblr media
"NIKLAUS! Y/N!" are the shouts from Kol and Elijah as they get covered with eggs and flour. You, Bex, and Nik set up a series of pranks to go off on them.
"Alright!" Bekah highfives you with a bright smile.
"Nikki we should do more pranks with Bex," you hug the girls waist.
"But pranks are our thing," he pouts.
"Now they are ours and Bex's," you give him a thumbs up.
"Yeah, Nikki- please don't dagger me again," Bekah says looking away from her brothers death glare.
"FUCK!" more shouts come from the kitchen.
Tumblr media
You and Bekah were shopping with a grumpy Nik trailing behind you. You had been at this for at least three hours now and he wanted to go back and cuddle with you in bed.
You just tried on a tight club dress and stepped into the couch area were the other two were waiting.
While NIk was drooling over you, suddenly happy about shopping, Bex stood up and walked over to you.
"Perfect! You look so hot!" Nik nods as Rebekah's statement while still staring at you in awe. "Those boys through the window seem to agree with me," Bekah nods her head in the direction of the window where a small group of boys around your age were drinking in your figure.
Niks head snaps over to them and his face hardens. He stands up and walks over to you, wrapping his arm around your waist.
"You look bloody stunning as always, my love," he kisses your head. "We are buying this dress. You know, I don't know what I did to deserve you,"
"You didn't have to do anything," your lips tip upwards.
"Ugh, you two," Rebekah rolls her eyes. "Nik is not coming with us next time, you guys are too sappy, makes me sick," she sighs.
"Don't be jealous, Rebekah"
Tumblr media
You were finishing up some final touches on a tray of pastries you baked for Nik. You made all his favorites and decorated them to look cute. You hear a knock on the door and look out the window. You see Nik at the door with flowers in his hands.
You open the door and smile at him, "Nikki, hello!"
"Hi, love," he smiles and pecks your lips. He hands you the flowers as he strolls in the house.
"Oh, Nik! Come in the kitchen"
You pick up the pastry tray after putting the flowers in a vase. "Tadaaa!"
"My favorites! Thank you, sweetheart," he kisses you.
"You are very welcome, thank you for the flowers"
"You are very welcome. I love you so much, you know"
"Of course I know, I also know that I love you so much too"

Do You Believe in Soulmates, Darling?
poly!mikaelsons x reader
summary: after waiting a thousand years to find their soulmates, the mikaelsons find it in mystic falls. one thing though - they all share the same lover. | request
word count: 7k (I don’t know how this happened)
tags: soulmates, fluff, human!reader
Tumblr media
It is Kol that sees you first. He is standing in the town square, observing how people are in the twenty-first century, and how much has changed since he’d last been undaggered. He hadn’t really planned on being out that day, but Klaus was getting unruly in the mansion, needing quiet time to paint. Kol wasn’t in the mood to be on the receiving end of his anger again, so he scurried out the door and decided to explore the town.
It’s peaceful and no one bothers him. No siblings, nor vampires, nor townspeople. For once, the inhabitants of Mystic Falls mind their own business.
By nearly three o’clock, he still occupies the square. Klaus was probably over his anger hours ago, but Kol finds he quite likes the scene. Despite enjoying the time away, though, he knows he should go home soon before a sibling catches up to him. One cannot escape the family for too long; that’s the blessing and curse of family. With a sigh, he stands up to leave, sparing one last glance to the park before him.
Thank god for that last look. Had he not taken it, he wouldn’t have noticed you. That would be a missed connection never known, but to secretly haunt him forever.
You, with your gentle smile as you look at the girl to your left. The way your eyes roll at something she says. The way you walk gracefully towards him, though he knows that’s not where you’re headed. Suddenly, something inside him wishes it were. Something fluttering in his chest; something that starts to beg for your attention. He stares at you as if his gaze would somehow attract yours.
“Are you daft? Kol! Hello?!” None of the words register to him. However, the swift hit to the head does.
Kol whips around to see his sister. Her hands open to him in frustration.
“I’ve been calling you for ages, standing right beside you. What are you even looking at?”
“Nothing,” he says, almost stutters.
“Certainly not nothing to have your attention like that.” Rebekah scoffs, then tries to follow his line of sight.
By then, you had dipped into a store. Kol secretly curses his sister for the distraction.
“That bird over there, you were seeing?” There’s a bluebird standing where you just were.
“No.”
“Then whatever in the name of-”
“Just a girl, Bekah. So like I said, nothing.”
“Oh? A girl’s caught your attention?” She snickers, “tell me, is she pretty?”
“Can you bugger off?”
“Why don’t you just answer?”
“Because I-” he stops upon seeing you again. You and Caroline tumble out of the store laughing, clutching onto each other’s shoulders. He listens to the words he sees leave your lips.
“That was so weird,” you mutter.
“People here are so strange sometimes,” Caroline agrees with your statement.
“Because you what?” Rebekah’s voice cuts back in. When Kol doesn’t answer, she follows his gaze again. “Caroline Forbes?”
“No, the girl beside her.”
A tease is prepared on the tip of her tongue, but upon seeing you, it’s gone. The two Mikaelsons are quiet for a moment as they watch you and Caroline continue to laugh.
“My, she is pretty,” the blonde finally admits. “Go talk to her.”
“Do you really think it’s wise for me to go over there with Caroline Forbes right there?”
“Well if you don’t now, you could lose her forever!”
“Or I could lose my life when her blonde friend rips my head from my neck!”
“You never know until you try.”
“I think I have a pretty good idea what will happen if I do that.”
“Caroline won’t kill you because then she’ll lose brownie points with our brother.”
“Fair point, Bekah, but-” He’s interrupted by two ringing phones. Specifically, his and his sister’s. “Bloody hell. Almost went all day without a summoning.”
“Who’s calling you?”
“Klaus.”
“Elijah’s got me. Guess we have to go back now. Wish your pretty girl farewell.”
Kol rolls his eyes at her words. He steals one last glance at you before following his sister to what he hopes isn’t some new brand of chaos.
◇◇◇◇
“So is it true?” You turn to your best friend.
“What?”
“That Klaus has a thing for you?”
She slouches in her next few steps, “really?! Y/N! As if I hadn’t had this conversation so many times.”
“Well, is it?”
“Ugh. I don’t know! I think he does, but trust me, I don’t feel anything for him back!”
“Aw,” you joke, “why not give him a chance? He could be your soulmate for all you know?”
She lets out a sharp laugh, “no way! In fact, Klaus has no soulmate, and do you know why?” She doesn’t give you a chance to answer before saying, “because I don’t think he even has a soul.”
“Caroline!”
“Am I wrong?”
“I- I don’t know, I’ve never met the guy!”
“Well good. Avoid him. He can be charming, I’ll give him that, but it doesn’t take away the fact that he’s a killer.”
“He can’t be that bad. We’ve all killed once or twice.”
“First of all, yes, he is. Second, no, we haven’t. I have. You have not, and that will stay that way.”
“Maybe I have, you don’t know that.”
She snorts, “You’re too sweet for that. And besides, even if you have, you’d tell me right away with your guilty conscience.”
“I do not have a-”
“Keep telling yourself that.”
“Fine, I might. But don’t mistake that for me not having fire, because I can assure you, I do.”
“Oh I know you do. That’s what makes us such good friends. But you need to remember that you’re human, so you still need to be careful.”
“I know, I know!”
“Which includes talking about Klaus, because he could be listening.”
“Sorry,” you try to hide your smirk, “I won’t ask about the big bad vampire again.”
“Good.” Caroline’s not at all convinced that this’ll be your last question about them, but at least it’ll be the last for today.
Ever since the Mikaelsons have arrived in Mystic Falls, you’ve been curious about them. It’s hard enough keeping you out of the Salvatore drama, but that difficulty increased tenfold when the original family came into play. With you and Matt being the only two humans left in the friend group, they’re very protective of you. You, even more-so than Matt. Matt’s met most of them by working at the grill, but the girls do their best to hide your existence from the four siblings. They all swear that if they ever find you, nothing good would happen.
◇◇◇◇
“You two have been out all day, where could you have possibly gone?” Elijah questions as soon as he sees his two youngest siblings enter the mansion.
Kol already has his answer ready, “well seeing as Klaus was about ready to kill us all this morning, I decided it would be in my best interest to get away from him.”
“He’s been steady since one. It’s past three now.”
“Lost track of time, I guess. Tell me, what is it you wanted?”
“Why? Have something to get back to you?”
Rebekah, who had left to fetch a glass of bourbon, replies, “yes, actually. I was quite occupied before you called.”
“You two? Together? Sounds like a recipe for disaster,” the eldest raises his eyebrows. “Hopefully not planning a kill in the square?”
“On the contrary, dear brother. But unfortunately for you, it’s none of your business. So again, what is it for which you called?”
“Ever so fiesty, Rebekah. Worry not, we just wanted to make sure you weren't starting anything."
"What? That's it?"
"What kind of older brother would I be if I don't check up on my younger, more troublesome siblings?"
"You called us both home for that?"
"What’s got you so bitter, sister? Mystic Falls isn't so interesting that you should be so upset."
"Not to you, but this time, we actually did find something interesting, thank you!"
"Oh, do tell, Rebekah," her other brother asks as he fetches his own drink.
"Doesn't matter now that we'll never see her again," Kol mutters, sharing an annoyed look with the blonde.
"Her?"
Rebekah glares, "yes, a girl. But Kol's right, doesn't matter." She swallows down the rest of the liquor in one gulp.
The two eldest brothers are too confused to question further. Kol takes this as a chance to retreat to his room, while Rebekah, after one more look at Elijah, leaves to hers.
"What girl could have stolen the attention of our two siblings so quickly?"
"Doubt there is one at all. They just wanted a reason to get away," Klaus snaps with a tone full of anger.
Elijah detects a hint of jealousy, but says nothing. Nor does he share about his curiosity for this supposed girl that infatuated them both.
◇◇◇◇
Two days later, you’re spotted in the square again, this time, by Elijah himself. At first glance, he makes no connection between you and whomever his siblings saw, but rather takes in the sight of you. You are sitting by the fountain, legs crossed on the cement, and a hand reaching into the water. A stack of books are in front of you, the one on top open, and a notebook to your left. You pay no attention to them, though, and keep your eyes trained on the small waterfall. The sight of a human so seemingly relaxed in such a busy and perilous town has him unable to draw away his attention. He watches you carefully from the square’s metal bench, far enough that you could not catch his eye.
Only a mere five minutes pass before you have company. A girl Elijah recognizes - April Young - touches your shoulder lightly. You turn to her with a smile as she starts to speak. Curiosity kills him, so Elijah tunes in to listen.
“If someone finds you out here, they’re not going to be happy.”
“I don’t care, April, I’m so bored. I can’t be inside all day just because they’re scared I’m going to encounter vampires.”
“Shh! You know they could overhear you, right?”
“It’s fine! They have no reason to hurt me, I’m just minding my own business.”
“They don’t need a reason to hurt anyone, Y/N, they just do. They drink blood, remember?”
“Okay, sure, point taken. But since I apparently have a team of protectors, I should be fine, right?”
“Yeah, but-”
“And, hey, you’re human. Why are you allowed to talk to them? Who’s the girl again? Rebekah?”
“Y/N, be quiet! Yes, I talk to them, but it’s because they found me first and dragged me into all this. And Matt’s been dragged in almost since day one. You haven’t been discovered by them yet, and we all need to keep it that way.”
“So boring! I want to be in on the fun.”
“It’s not fun, Y/N. I’m serious. None of them will be gentle if they find you; they’re all dangerous.”
You sigh, giving up on arguing with the girl.
“You know what they say, ‘curiosity killed the cat’,” April says.
“Okay, but they also say, ‘satisfaction brought it back’,” you finish, eyebrows raised.
April rolls her eyes, “stay out of it. In fact, I’m texting Caroline right now that you left your house if you don’t go back right now.”
“I’m not going back, I’m studying here.”
“Study at home.”
“No.”
Immediately, she starts to dial Caroline. In an instant, you pack your books back into your bag. “See you later, buzzkill.”
The girl hangs up, but doesn’t leave until you do. You know better than to try and win a fight against both of them, so you head home, missing the square already.
Elijah knows he shouldn’t follow you. Caroline could be on her way; April’s in the distance. Yet, he can’t watch you walk away, either. He must at least know your name, or else it might kill him. At the very least, he could compel the conversation out of your mind as soon as he hears it.
He waits until you’re alone to approach. Probably not the best way to do it, but he doesn’t know how many there are keeping you hidden in your supposed “team of protectors”. And this way, it would be easier to compel, should it come to that. So, as you travel down the sidewalk, humming to yourself, he suddenly calls out to you,
“Excuse me, miss.”
You turn quickly towards the voice. Your breath catches in your throat at the sight of the handsome stranger. “Um, hi.”
“I mean you no harm, but I saw you in the square just a little bit ago, and I have to know your name.”
You hesitate, unsure if you should give it.
He continues, “I know this is quite random, but I truly do not wish to frighten you. I saw you by the fountain, unbothered by the world around you. The screams of children, the barking of dogs, but nothing disrupted your focus from the gentle flow of water. I could tell it brought you peace, and I could see the secret you harbored to jump in and enjoy it. It was beautiful, not to mention the beauty that you are, yourself. So, apologies if I am crossing a line, but I can’t help but wonder what name to put on this delicate soul that has imprinted on my own.”
You stare at him, speechless from his words. Never has anyone said such beautiful things to you, and in such an alluring accent, no less.
“My apologies, love. I fear I have said too much.”
“N-no! Forgive me, I’ve just never had a man tell me I’m beautiful before.”
“That is quite a shame. Sure they just have never told you out loud.” He walks closer to you, feeling a bit more confident that you’re not afraid.
A blush rises to your cheeks, but you’re still unable to form a response. “I-I, um… Y/N. My name.”
He repeats your name, tasting it on his tongue. “Lovely name. Lovely name for a lovely girl.”
“Thank you. And what’s yours, may I ask?”
Elijah hesitates. It hurts his heart knowing he’ll have to compel this conversation from your mind, but at least, he can give you his name before he does. “Elijah Mikaelson.”
“You- you’re a Mikaelson?”
“Afraid I am.” He scans your face for fear, which he wholeheartedly expected. However, nothing.
“You’re the first I’ve gotten the pleasure to meet. I’ve been curious, I’ll admit, but my friends tell me to stay away,” you pause, “which you probably found out from my conversation with April a few minutes ago. Oops.”
“It’s alright, love. I won’t tell a soul of your secret.”
“Thanks,” you smile, “I hate being cooped up in the house all day. You were right - I did want to jump in that fountain.”
“You should’ve. I bet the joy on your face would have been unmatched.”
You swallow hard. You’ve never been good at taking compliments. Especially not those given to you by a handsome man who has lived long enough to see thousands of beautiful things. Never would you have expected to be one of those things. “I think I should’ve, too.”
Suddenly, you get a text. In a brief glance, you see it’s Caroline. “Oh crap.”
“Is everything alright?”
You sigh, “it’s Caroline, asking me to send a picture of myself in my kitchen, with an egg in my hand, and a spoon on my head. I guess I have to go.”
“Such an odd request,” he wonders out loud.
“She likes to put me up to things like this to prove I’m at home. It’s something I won’t have in my pictures already, and have to do that instant. If I don’t get it done in five minutes, she comes over.”
“Well I guess I better let you leave, then.”
“Unfortunately, yes. But I liked meeting you, Elijah.”
He smiles, “you too, Miss Y/N.” He steps forward and takes your palm to kiss it. In a deep breath before he starts to compel you, you suddenly interrupt him.
“Wait! I’m way more than five minutes away. Crap! She’s gonna catch me.”
He shouldn’t offer. He shouldn’t know where you live. Yet, the idea of you getting caught out of your house worries him. He may never see you again if that happens. “I could, perhaps, take you home? Could get you there much quicker than if you were to walk.”
“You would do that?”
“I owe you that little, being the reason you might get caught otherwise.”
You blush at the thought of him picking you up, but try to force it away. “If you don’t mind.”
“Of course.” He picks you up bridal style, and before you know it, you’re on your porch.
“Thank you.” You smile, then check your phone. “Oh, shoot! Two minutes left.” You’re quick to unlock your door and throw it open. “Come in and help me find an egg!”
Surely you know the rules about those words pertaining to vampires and one’s home, yet you said them without hesitation. You didn’t stick around for him to question you, either, and instead ran to complete the quest. Slowly, he tests the entryway, and enters with no resistance. He then finds you in your kitchen digging through the fridge, then pulling out an egg. As quickly as you can, you take a selfie and send it to Caroline.
“Whew!” You breathe out, then notice him, “hi.”
“You completed your challenge?”
“Hopefully! But she might still come by because it was April that called her.”
“So I should probably leave.”
You bite your lip, not wanting him to go.
“Y/N?”
“Hm?”
“Why did you invite me inside?”
“Because I needed you to find an egg. Which I found myself, so thanks,” you joke.
He smiles, but only for a second, “I’m serious.”
“I don’t know, I trust you.”
“Why? I’m a Mikaelson. The very family that your friends told you to avoid.”
“Well maybe I don’t like being told what to do. And maybe you don’t seem so bad to me.”
“I would like to prove your feelings right. I wish I could.” He says truthfully, catching your eyes.
You start to look back, but then his words hit you. I wish I could. You straighten, then look away from his gaze. “Don’t compel me.”
“What?”
“Don’t you dare compel me to forget this. I don’t want to forget this. I don’t want to forget you. You, or your smile, or the things you’ve said. Please don’t take it away from me.”
“Y/N-”
“Please.”
He takes a deep breath. It must be done, but he hates it. He doesn’t want you to forget. In fact, he wants to know you deeper. “I have to.”
“No, you don’t. I won’t tell, I promise. If anything, compel me to never forget.”
“Y/N-”
“‘Lijah, don’t.”
The nickname you’ve already given him weakens him. It renders him unable to finish the task; there’s no way he can force himself to compel you now. “Alright.”
“Wait, really?”
“If you’re sure you want to remember, but you’re sure you’ll never tell.”
“I promise. And I won’t say that I invited in a Mikaelson, either.”
He chuckles, “that would be wise.” He kisses your hand again. “I hope to see you again, Y/N.”
“You too. And thanks for taking me home.”
“Of course, love.”
After he leaves, you collapse on your couch, head swirling with thoughts of him. The words he said: how he described your time at the fountain, the beauty he saw in you. His own appearance: kind eyes, small wrinkles under them from a lack of sleep or hundreds of lifetimes lived, or both, a perfectly neat suit, the dark blue ring fitted on his finger. The way he watched you take Caroline’s picture with a smile on the edge of his lips. How he kissed your hand gently as a parting.
Your cheeks are hot with blush, not to mention the heat you feel throughout your body. Butterflies are alive in your stomach. It all makes you feel so silly, but some part of you whispers that it’s love at first sight.
◇◇◇◇
The minute Klaus hears the door open, he’s already yelling, “another sibling spending hours out and about in Mystic Falls. Where in the bloody hell have you been all day, Elijah?”
Elijah enters the room to find Klaus standing beside another painting, while the two other siblings sit on the couch. All three have glasses of bourbon and are sipping carefully. “What’s going on?”
“For once? Nothing. We all just happen to be here.”
“Where have you been, Elijah?” Rebekah turns around in her seat to question him.
Before he can answer, Klaus chuckles, “let me guess! Out with a girl. You only wear that smile when you’ve found a girl to fancy.”
“Niklaus, I have not-”
“Oh don’t try, I’ve known you for a thousand years!”
“Better not be my girl, mate,” Kol mutters, though his tone isn’t rough like Klaus’.
“Your girl is my girl, too, Kol. Remember that.”
“Heaven’s sake, you all are idiots.” Klaus turns back to his work, ignoring the three.
Elijah ignores him right back, and instead looks down to the others. “Describe this girl you saw. Everything you remember.”
So, Kol and Rebekah do. Everything from your appearance, to the sound of your voice, and to the way you walked. The more they described, the more it sounded like the ‘you’ Elijah was with all day. When he admits this, their faces pale.
“There’s no way all three of you idiots have fallen in love with the same girl,” Klaus mutters, still listening despite his annoyance.
“It’s happened before, brother. Remember Mary?”
“I remember, Bekah, but that doesn't mean it’s plausible to happen again.”
“I think it is entirely plausible,” Kol admits, “in fact, I think this goes deeper than it did with Mary.”
“Whatever are you talking about?”
“Something draws me to her. And it’s like I know her, yet I don’t at the same time. Do you guys feel this too, or is it just me?”
“No, I definitely feel it,” Elijah says, “and spending time with her today felt so natural. Like it was something I could never tire of.”
“You three sound so stupid. Talking like this girl, that two of you have never actually met, is your soulmate or something.”
“Well maybe you need to see her, Klaus. You’ll be in love instantly, I promise.”
Klaus rolls his eyes one more time at his youngest brother before going back to his painting. He refuses to admit the curiosity he feels towards you, and instead plays on animosity. His siblings don’t give up, though, and continue talking about their feelings for you until they all part to go to bed.
The following day, Elijah, Kol, and Rebekah actively seek you out in hopes of inviting you to dinner. They spent the morning planning that they’d find you and convince you to come over, where they could all gain your trust and get to know you better. The difficult part of this was getting you alone to talk. Elijah had warned his siblings about what you had said and told them to keep a close eye on their surroundings. He did also mention how excited you were to meet a Mikaelson, though, and said to use this to their advantage if one of them finds you instead of himself.
So, in three different parts of the city, the siblings fan out and keep their eyes peeled for your presence. Shouldn’t be that hard to find; they’ll just follow the pull of their hearts.
◇◇◇◇
For ten minutes, you’re able to sneak away, just long enough to visit your favorite store on the street corner. After meeting Elijah yesterday, the thought of being stuck in your house all day sounds miserable, and you are prepared to risk your friends’ wrath to see him again. Granted, inside the little shop is probably not the place you’d find him, but being out in the open at least makes it seem possible.
You are looking at a row of necklaces when a man comes up beside you. You don’t see his face, yet he doesn’t seem threatening to you, so you’re not too worried.
“That color would look beautiful on you,” he says aloud.
“Me?” You glance around to see if he’s talking to someone else.
“Yes, darling. I mean you.”
You blush instantly. “Thank you.”
“Let me get it for you.”
“Oh, no, I couldn’t. It must be expensive!”
“Not a problem for me. I happen to come from a well-off line.”
“Oh do you now?” You turn to face him fully. “And what line would that be?”
He smiles at you, then plucks the necklace from its place and brings it to the counter. Immediately after buying it, he’s fastening it around your neck. “As expected, you look beautiful.”
“You didn’t have to do that.”
“How could I not? It was made for you.”
“You’re too kind.” You reach your hand out for him to shake, “Y/N L/N.”
Instead of shaking it, he presses a kiss to the back, “Kol Mikaelson.”
He watches your eyes light up, just as Elijah said they would. “Mikaelson?”
“So you’ve heard of me?”
“Heard of you? Definitely.”
“And I heard you met my brother yesterday. God, he would not stop talking about how beautiful you are.”
You blush deeper at the thought of Elijah talking about you to his family. Either that, or it’s because Kol’s still holding your hand gently. You’re not sure.
“Say, Y/N, would it be possible I could invite you to dinner? I would love to get to know you better, and I know Elijah would love to see you again. Bekah, too, has a curiosity.”
“I, um…” you so desperately want to, but fear your friends finding out. “I want to, but I don’t know if I can.”
“If it’s Caroline Forbes you’re worried about, I bet we could fake an alibi.”
“It’s not just Caroline, it’s all of them. But, if we could think of a good enough alibi, I bet I could escape for a little bit.”
“Perfect, I will let my siblings know. This is our address, but if you need one of us to pick you up, my number’s on there, too.” He slips you a piece of paper. “I look forward to seeing you again, darling.”
“I do, too, Kol,” you smile.
With one last kiss to your hand, he disappears from sight.
You show up on the Mikaelsons’ porch at seven in one of your best outfits, playing with your hair nervously after ringing the doorbell. When the door swings open, the girl - Rebekah - is on the other side.
Before you can greet her, she looks you up and down, “wow… you are gorgeous.”
The redness rises back to your cheeks, “thank you.”
“No wonder my brothers are smitten with you.”
“Don’t lie, Rebekah,” Kol’s voice rings through the house, “you know you are too.”
She rolls her eyes, “come inside, dear. We promise we won’t bite.”
You follow her into the house, smiling as you pass the threshold into the mansion. “It’s beautiful in here.”
“Not as beautiful as you, darling.”
You’re starting to pick up on the affectionate nicknames that each gives you. Elijah calls you ‘love’; Kol calls you ‘darling’; and Rebekah just used ‘dear’. It’s one thing that they’ve all called you beautiful, but they all have nicknames for you, too. If they get any more romantic, your heart will flutter right out of your chest.
Just as you think that, they do. Elijah and Kol both kiss your hands as they greet you, making you weak in the knees.
“Thank you for coming, love. I’m glad you could join us.”
“Thank you for inviting me. About that alibi, Kol, I’m gonna need it tomorrow. No doubt I’ll get some kind of spoon-on-head, one-nail-painted-black kind of challenge that I’ll fail, and have to find an excuse for.”
The boy laughs, having been told by Elijah about Caroline’s antics. “We will certainly come up with something. But for now, are you hungry?”
“Yes, actually. And I’m excited to know what you guys eat when you’re not drinking blood,” you joke. The giggle fades out once you see the kitchen table, though. From end to end, it’s covered in dishes. “Holy crap.”
“Only the best for a woman such as yourself,” Kol sends you a wink.
Rebekah pulls a chair out for you. “Stick around, and you’ll find we actually have quite the appetite for more than blood.”
“Oh that was just a joke,” you say, afraid you’ve offended her.
“No worries. I know it was.”
Soon, you’re all seated, except for the head of the table. “Um. Don’t you guys have another brother?”
“Niklaus, yes,” Elijah smiles at you, “he’s painting at the moment, but he should be here shortly. I apologize for his absence.”
“It’s okay! I was just curious.”
Speak of the devil, Klaus enters the room not a minute later. Elijah gestures to you immediately, introducing you. Klaus, still skeptical as to why his siblings are so obsessed with you, has a threat prepared that sits on his tongue. The three wait for it to come out, expecting it, and ready to defend. However, as soon as he looks at you, his mind is wiped of all things foul and offensive.
“Hello, love,” he says instead.
All four of you are caught off guard. The tension in the room was thick; you were expecting an insult, too. Not to mention how Caroline speaks so poorly of the man.
“Hi,” you respond, voice smaller than you’d like, “nice to meet you.”
“You as well.” He sits down with a newfound attitude towards you. “Tell me, how do you like Mystic Falls?”
After you answer his question, the five of you talk for the next two hours, sharing every bit about yourselves. They learn how you’ve lived in Mystic Falls your whole life, and have barely traveled out of the town. You discover they were born in Norway, but were turned in this very town, some thousand years ago. You find common ground in the parents’ department, none of you having the best relationships with your parents, especially your fathers. Though you get a glimpse into the abuse that they all faced from their father, and feel an indescribable rage towards the man you’ve never met. This part of the conversation helps you understand each of them better, including how that fear and anger has made them into one of the most dangerous families - a term they admit describes them well.
“Dangerous,” Rebekah says, “but fiercely protective over those we love.”
“Quite exactly the reason we are so dangerous,” Elijah adds to her statement, “we will do anything to protect whomever we love.”
Hearing the word from their lips makes your body shiver. A thought passes through your head wondering if you’d ever be someone that they’d protect that much. Something deep in your soul tells you that you already are.
After the childhood topic, conversation moves onto lighter subjects. Everyone’s favorite foods, shows, and pastimes are shared. You learn the birth order of the four siblings in front of you, and discover that there’s three others not present. One of them, alive, but so disgusted that they’re vampires that he refuses to associate with them. This, in turn, gets a truth out of you,
“Well you don’t have to worry about me, I think vampires are sexy,” you say before covering your mouth. Too much wine, you suppose. “I mean, I just think they’re cool. There’s a reason the gang tries to keep me in the dark about everything that goes on in the town.”
Eyes go wide, but maybe for the sake of your embarrassed gesture, the topic moves onto the so-called perfect group of miscreants. After, it shifts to your alibi that will be used to explain your disappearance.
“You were bored and went to a restaurant to study. Lost track of time,” Kol tries his best.
“Ran to the store for a much needed grocery trip,” Klaus provides after his brother’s failed idea.
“Or,” Rebekah rolls her eyes, “you just fell asleep.”
“Watching a movie and falling asleep,” Elijah finishes, “so that you have about an hour to be engrossed in the movie, but then you nod off into a deep sleep.”
“I think Caroline would buy that. She always does get after me for not answering immediately.”
“Perfect,” Klaus concedes, “now I would like to know more about what you think makes vampires so sexy,” he says, smirking at you.
You blush for a second, but then can’t help spilling the truths stacked on your tongue.
◇◇◇◇
After that night, you stay in contact with the Mikaelsons, and even visit their mansion for several more dinners. In time, you find yourself getting close with each one. Most nights, Rebekah walks you home, and always kisses your cheek before leaving. Sometimes, too, she’s in your kitchen, making coffee or tea when you wake up. Kol visits you everytime Caroline puts you on “house arrest”, and tries to help you study to the best of his ability. That, or he distracts you completely, begging you to watch a movie with him instead. You almost always give into him. Elijah keeps up his charms of kind words and gentle touches. The moment he learns what your favorite flower is, he brings you one every time he sees you.
Between the siblings, Klaus is the least trusting and the last to give into his desire to know you. Though the more he sees you with the others, the more jealous he becomes, and eventually, he cracks. His first gesture towards you is a painting of you standing in the Mikaelsons’ ballroom. He says he could picture you dancing in it, someday, in a beautiful dress made tailored just for you. After that, he’s now just as smitten as his siblings.
You love being with all of them, separately and together. One thing though - you find your heart being torn in four different ways, and it scares you. You can’t break one of their hearts, nor do you want to, but there’s no way you could be with all of them. Look how that went for Elena and the Salvatores.
Oh, and speaking of Elena… you still haven’t even told your friends that you’re even hanging out with the Mikaelsons, much less that you’re in love with them. You feel bad keeping secrets from them, but you know how they’ll react if they find out. Even if you can prove the family has been nothing but kind, they’ll be overprotective and most likely try to ban you from seeing them entirely.
“Maybe I can just tell one of them,” you wonder out loud one night. Tonight was easy to get out of your house; everyone went to the grill to drink and you played the ‘too tired’ card. Little did they know what you were actually going back to the family’s mansion.
“Who would you start with?” Rebekah asks from behind as she plays with your hair.
“Caroline, maybe? I’m closest to her. But with Elena, I could use the excuse that she’s dating a vampire who’s almost just as dangerous.”
Klaus scoffs playfully, “almost as? Love, he doesn’t come close.”
“Well I know that, but some people think he’s pretty dangerous.”
“Oh he certainly is. But when it comes down to it, my family will always come out on top.”
You remember the conversation from your first night meeting them. How you wondered if you’d ever be one they’d fight to the death to protect. Klaus answers this for you now. “Like we said before, we protect those we love. That includes you, little one.”
Your eyes snap up to him. “Me?”
“Isn’t it obvious? We open our home to you; share our deepest and darkest secrets. We don’t do that with just anyone. There’s something different about you.”
“He’s right,” Kol comes beside you on the couch to sit down, “you’re one of us now.”
Elijah clears his throat, a little worried the two will scare you away, “if you’re comfortable with that, of course. Do not feel pressured in any way. We will not be upset.”
As he’s talking, you reach your hands out for Kol to lean against you. The youngest boy does, putting his head on your shoulder, while you wrap your arms around his neck. “Pressure? No, I don’t feel pressured. I love hanging out with you guys. I love-” you pause, blinking. You’re not sure what to say.
“Y/N?” Elijah starts.
“I’m… I don’t know… I’m confused, and I feel awful for it, but I… I don’t even know what to say.”
“What’s wrong, girlie?” Rebekah kisses the top of your head gently. The boys focus their attention on you fully. “I promise, whatever you say, you don’t have to feel awful.”
“Bekah’s right, you can tell us anything.”
“I just… I love you guys. I love being with you all as a family, but then, I don’t know, I love you all separately, too.” They say nothing, so you continue. “And it’s not just a friendly thing, either. It’s like blushing, butterflies in the stomach, wanting to be with you kind of love. Which would be okay if I fell for only one of you - well, actually, it wouldn’t, because then I’d hurt the rest of you - but it’s not just one. I love all of you like that.”
Elijah’s first to speak. “Why do you think that would be wrong?”
“What?”
“Why is that a bad thing to you?”
You stare at him, “I can’t have a thing with four different siblings. That’s crazy, right?”
You can’t see her face, but Rebekah’s smiling wide. “Are there any rules when it comes to love?”
And before you can answer her, Klaus follows up, “crazy pretty much defines this family, I don’t know what you’re worried about.”
“Hold on,” you put up a finger, even more confused, but now for a different reason. “You are all okay with this?”
“We may have had a talk,” Elijah says, sitting down, “the night after you first came here. You see, we’ve all shared lovers before, so this is nothing new to us. However, usually they rotate. Start with Klaus, move onto Kol, have a fling with Bekah, start something with me, and then they go. But, as you’ve heard us say plenty a time, you’re much different.”
You nod, “so what was the talk?”
“Well, dear Y/N, none of us can quite keep our feelings about you to ourselves. Nor do we ever think we could tire of loving you.” Elijah’s slow and cryptic talk is making you antsy. Apparently, it’s frustrating Kol, too.
“Do you believe in soulmates, darling?”
“Soulmates? Um, ish? I mean, Caroline and I used to entertain the idea as kids.”
“Would it be absolutely crazy to entertain the possibility that you’ve met yours? And perhaps it to be in the form of four siblings to whom you’ve just admitted your love?”
“I-” slowly, it hits you. His words sink into your head and your heart at the same time. A fire burns, heating your palms, reddening your cheeks.
“Because polyamory was a thing with the Ancient Greeks, though it’s not too common anymore. But then again, here you have four siblings who love you just as dearly. In that same ‘butterflies and a warm feeling’ that you described.”
“I, um…”
“If you had let me explain it, you wouldn’t have scared her,” Elijah chides his brother.
“You were taking too long. I’ve been waiting a thousand years to tell this girl I love her.”
Hearing the three words finally broke the dam. Whatever fear you did have melts away instantly. “It’s okay,” you mutter. “It’s clear to me now. I do love you. All of you. As crazy as it sounds, I can’t deny my feelings; I don’t want to. I love you.”
Immediately, Kol spins around so he can kiss you properly. You kiss him back, relaxing into his hands which hold onto your face. As soon as he breaks it off, Rebekah mutters that he needs to move, and then she kisses you, too.
“I just have one question,” you pant, out of breath from the excitement.
“And what is that?”
“How do I know this isn’t going to end terribly, like how Stefan and Elena’s relationship did ever since she fell in love with his brother?”
“Because,” Klaus zips across the room to put less distance between you two, “we all love you and are quite capable of sharing. We’ve lived thousands of years together, and have been looking for you for thousands more.”
“Besides, there’s this cool thing called communication that we do that the Salvatores like to ignore. Take it from someone who’s slept with both,” Rebekah adds.
You crinkle your nose at the information, “no more sleeping with Salvatores.” You pull her back in for another kiss, “you’re mine now.”
When you let go of Bex, Klaus steals his turn, and then Elijah. It’s a little overwhelming, but your worries are overpowered by how much love you feel from them, and by how much you want to give them in return.
After you all settle down, you let out a giggle. “I had nearly given up on the idea of finding my soulmate. Little did I know I’d be so lucky to have four.”
“Not as lucky as us,” Elijah claims the last word, “to have found our girl after thousands of years of searching.”

Hi, it will be chaos and havoc, but what will it be like if the entire yandere Mikaelsons are obsessed over one human!reader? Thanks a lot.
Ours Yandere!Mikaelson brothers x reader (Poly)
Type: Headcannon
Requested: yes
Summary: Having the Mikaelson brothers as your yanderes
Warnings: yandere themes, dark themes, kidnap, etc
Tumblr media
Life with any Mikaelson man as your yandere is going to be crazy at times. But with all the Mikaelson men is positively manic.
It doesn’t matter who started obsessing over you first. The lines blur quickly and soon enough they’re all obsessed.
Any privacy you had before has been trampled. It doesn’t exist anymore.
You feel as though they work in shifts. As soon as one brother leaves, you bump into another one.
If there’s any overlap between the brothers it can get messy quick.
It does depend on which brother it is.
Klaus is possessive but also the most experimental. He likes having you on your own, that goes unsaid, but he doesn’t mind sharing you with Elijah and or Kol.
Kol is the embodiment of crazy. So while he likes have you to himself, he’ll interrupt any of his brothers to steal you attention. Klaus, Elijah or Finn. It doesn’t matter.
Elijah is the peace keeper. But he he is more reserved about sharing you with Kol. He forever feels he’s cleaning up his younger brothers messes. He doesn’t want one of those messes to be you. He’s fine sharing with Klaus, they’ve done so in the past. Finn is gentle with you so he has no problem sharing with him.
Finn is probably the most selective over who he shares you with. Klaus is out of the question. After being locked in a box for 900 years, his grudges hold strong. He also has reserves over sharing you with Elijah. He was awake for the majority of the 900 years, yet made no attempt to free him. Kol on the other hand, he’ll share with.
While he doesn’t like his brothers sadistic tendencies, he feels he can balance that with his gentle and soft nature. He has no grudges with Kol, being the youngest and most crazed he didn’t expect him to free him.
Over time his grudges with his brothers melt away. After he notices it causes strain on your relationship he makes the decision to bury the hatchet.
Of course, this is all assuming you accept them.
If you do resist it’s a different story. Before you can try to leave town you’ve been taken to their mansion. Where you’ll be watched 24/7 by four pairs of eyes.
They’re all extremely possessive over you. Yet not of each other.
One could have just fucked you on the breakfast table, then the other would put you on their lap and feed you breakfast.
They feel no shame if it involves you.
They’ll do anything to protect you.
While it can be hectic having four extremely powerful and controlling yanderes, they do balence each other out.
While Kol can be quite sadistic, Finn helps to give you the care he sometimes forgets about.
While Elijah takes away you independence and treats you like a doll, Klaus will take you out back into the real world and spoil you.
While Finn can sometimes be behind on the times, Elijah is happy to fill you in on any news or historical events.
It all works out in the end.
But then again you don’t really have a choice if it does or not.

She’s my person
Pairings: Rebekah Mikaelson x bestfriend!reader (witch reader)
Summary: reader has been with the scooby squad forever, when Rebekah comes to school, she makes her see her true potential and Rebekah is willing to do anything to not let anyone hurt reader.
Y/n was friend with Caroline, Bonnie and Elena since forever but they never let her bloom out her true nature, her powers always diminished but used and used whenever someone needed them, it had been that way since they found out the supernatural world, now, the originals were in town, which meant keeping Elena safe from them, little did they knew about what their friend could manage to control outside of her powers.
It was another school day which meant getting up, ready and be awaken enough to bare being with Caroline at 7.30 am, while y\n was nearly sleeping she bumped into a cascade of blonde hair sending herself into the ground and earning a laugh from above
‘Oh my god, i cannot say sorry enough its that I’m really just so clumsy, oh Rebekah its you, you look so pretty today, see you in class’
Those were the first words heard of kindness by Rebekah, her eyes never leaving the figure of the sweet, little witch that she knew was friend with the scooby gang, klaus often talked about her, saying that she was just so sweet that she even worried about him.
Rebekah couldn’t not find herself quite entrained by the girl that in history class seemed to be sleeping calmly, then in math, and then she felt some kind of warm feeling when their pe teacher paired them together.
Into 2 weeks of their friendship bekah had felt the most appreciated in her life ever, following y/n around and sending side glances to anyone who looked strangely in their direction, not that she cared what other though, but her new friend probably would.
Their phone calls lasted hours on end and y/n was more at the mikaelson’s house than at her own, not that anyone seemed to mind as she had everything one could possibly search for.
With the passing time, the squad started to realize y/n's absence to their meetings and such, but no one outside of Elena got worried for her. So the next morning, while she was looking for a book in her locker, Caroline, Bonnie and Elena got near her asking about what was happening, receiving a giggle and a mumble that said "oh, nothing, I just made a new friend, I'm just happy about it and I'm trying to spend more time with her as I'm her only friend, see you at cheer practice" and with that the ball of sunshine disappeared in thin air.
Before cheer practice, in the evening, y/n and Rebekah were stretching and chatting, when Damon Salvatore got near them and decided that he needed to talk to the witch to defeat Klaus, so he was shocked when she saw the original girl, with fake confidence and a smug smirk he took the girl's arm and turned around saying he needed her.
In the Salvatore house y/n had been doing spells for over six hours, stopping only to drink water, her strength now starting to fade as her skin surely couldn't look like one of a healthy person. But she kept on, feeling ridiculous in her little cheerleading outfit, and while her eyes were heavy and her body started to tild to the side for the exhaustion one vampire straightened her up " come on, if you're such a strong witch then you should be able to do this" she kept chanting words in Latin not hearing anyone. The door and the windows flew open, and while everyone seemed to be fighting with the wind she looked as if it was in front of her only to make her look more angelic, the candles started to grow and a light spread around the room strongly, while this was happening, the originals came through the open door and saw as the girl cried blood and screamed while doing the spell, not that anyone seemed to care since they where too busy celebrating the outcome.
When the girl hit violently the floor due to exhaustion Rebekah ran to pick her up, her best friend, being used by ghost who she considered being her dear friend, not having seen in hours Rebekah called her brothers who got a witch to locate her.
They carried the young girl in her cheer outfit and placed her in a guest's bedroom. Waiting for her to wake up the originals forgot all about Elena and the doppelganger and the Salvatore Brothers instead Rebekah sat on the bed with the girl's head on her lap while gently stroking her hair.
"You're my best friend"

“I am so done with you, Hope.”
The storm your feet were causing against the wood of the compound reached your family's sensitive ears quickly.
“Oh, you're done with me?” Your sister followed your harsh steps, earning a glare from you that you didn't need to look back at her for her to see it. “Is there anything else you'd like to tell me? Like how stupid I am for making a decision? Isn't that what you always say anyway?”
“And you still don't listen!”
Rebekah was the first one to protest from the living room where a bunch of compelled men were being ordered around to redecorate the place.
“Girls, pitch it down. I'm trying to do some redecorating here,” her unhelpful jab was promptly ignored as you yanked the door open, the sound echoing through the room. “Hey!” Rebekah stared at your angry breeze in indignation. “Do not ignore me—”
“Come back. We're not done talking.”
Then, just as you were in the middle of the street, you went back inside the compound. Or rather, pulled back by an invisible force.
Did Hope just used her magic on you? Did she just—
“Say it. Say what you think. What you have always thought about me. Go ahead.”
“Hope.” Warned Elijah.
Your eyes narrowed into slits as your fists clenched, “Do not manhandle me with your stupid magic, Hope—”
“What on Earth is going on here?” Kol peaked below from the bannister. He could hear the screaming from ten miles away and he was trying to take a nap for goodness sake. “I thought we didn't have children in this family anymore? You know,” he starts to descend the stairs slowly. “It was the best day of my entire life when you both quit the shrieking phase—”
“Then don't turn your back on me when I'm speaking.” Hope said, completely ignoring Kol's irrelevant input in your argument.
“You sound just like Dad. Maybe that's why you bond so well. The reckless and the paranoid.”
Hope scoffed.
“Is that jealousy I hear? What, the second child couldn't accept the scrapes of left-over love?”
Finn arrived in the living room just as your whole demeanor switched from angry to numb in less than a second. The workers had vanished, Rebekah's doing because she read the situation previous to the outburst.
And she did not want an outburst. Less alone from you, a witch-in-learning since your powers had gotten out of hand due to the Mikaelson's last inconvenience — Lucian Castle.
He had done a number on you. The magic that used to run free and controlled through your fingers now felt like electric currents burning inside your veins. Not in a good way. Long story short, your abilities were in time-out. Until your emotions take over and you lose control.
Which was what was happening in that moment.
“Hope,” Rebekah walked towards your pair carefully as Kol and Finn watched from afar. “That's enough. Why don't you take a walk—”
“Why do you never stay on my side?” Hope snapped at her aunt, finally breaking your stare.
Rebekah let out a sigh, “I'm not taking any sides here. You both have got to take a minute and discuss this later.”
You could feel the slight twitch on the tip of your fingers.
“Do you remember how many people I've lost because of her, Aunt Beks?” You asked, the corner of your lips raising. Hope gave you a roll of eyes. “Some by choice, because I chose her above anyone else. Blood is thicker than water, right? Then, some because they were collateral damage. Why? Because the fucking world revolves around Hope Mikaelson?”
Hope's expression morphs into annoyance, “It was not my fault they died!”
“Of course, not. Who would've thought there would be consequences for your actions, Hope?”
“You're unbeleavible. You told me it wasn't my fault. You!”
“Well, I lied!” You marveled, taking a step foward as anger seeped within your body. “I lied when I said that it wasn't your fault. I lied when I covered for you all of those times. In fact, I lied when I said I'd always be on your side. I'm so done with your selfishness, Hope. Because although you're my sister, you've hurt me more than any other being has hurt me!”
A warm hand attempt to tug you a few steps back. You barely acknowledge it.
“I never asked you to do anything, you've made your own choices. Don't come blame me for it. If the people you care about were hurt, that's on you. Not me.”
“Enough.”
Your father's voice caused the both of you to freeze in your spot. Hope shoulders sagged as she let out a huff.
“She started it. I'm just telling the truth.”
“Shut up, Hope,” you exclaimed in exasperation. Your patience wearing thin. Everyone could feel your powers praying to be unleashed.
“I said enough!” Klaus's tone might have been final but your argument was far from the end.
Elijah said your name when he noticed the your eyes darkening lightly.
“You know what?” Hope took a few steps towards you. She, too, could feel your magic and a little sly smile grew in the corner of her lips. “If it weren't for you, mom might still be here,” even though she whispered, every vampire heard the affirmation and tensed.
They should've acted sooner. But now it had gone too far.
Just as she had moved you like a marionette previously, you raised your hand and threw her body next to the closest wall. The force created a ruptured in the outline of your sister, who let out a groan.
Your name was called in warning. You couldn't hear if it was your Dad or one of your uncles. You knew it wasn't Rebekah because she was already helping her dear niece out of the mess you made.
Too late.
“Say it again.”
Before she could use her own magic, you used your vampire speed to push Rebekah away and grab your older sister by the neck.
“Go on, Hope,” you shoved her in the adjacent wall. Why did no one was trying to stop you? Well. They were busy being held thrown in different areas of the house by your out-of-control stupor. “Tell me how I'm to blame for her death. Tell me how I have scrapes of our family's love. You got it all first, didn't you? I arrived to take it away? Is that what you thought? Is that what I am? A leftover?”
Hope's groans of pain didn't phaze your unstoppable strength, nor did her beaten-up face or her bleeding nose. You smirked upon seeing the glint of annoyance in her bright blue eyes. The color shifting towards yellow slightly. You were practically taunting her wolf.
“A leftover daughter, right, Dad?” the jab directed at your father wasn't unnoticed. “I'm sure he'd agree with you on that, sis.”
“Bitch.” Hope let out a sneer and kicked you on the stomach.
“For fuck's sake!” Kol used his vampire speed to push Hope out of your reach as Finn grabbed you by the shoulders. “That's enough. Both of you, stop.”
Ripping out a piece of a chair, you grabbed the pointed wood and stuck in his heart. His shocked expression didn't brought guilt to your chest, not when anger was still the bigger emotion gripping you wholly. You created an invisible barrier to keep anyone but Hope away. And when your sister is about to sink her hybrid teeth into your arm, you lift her from the ground with your powers.
You drowned out all the protests and focused on squeezing her neck with your mind.
“I'm so sick of you.” She struggled to breath. “I'm sick of being left out. I'm sick of being on the receiving end of your problems. I wish you weren't my sister!”
It was all too fast. Hope's body was released and she fell to the floor like a ragdoll. You walked slowly towards her. She wasn't completely weak, just recovering from being cut out of breath for a few minutes. At any moment, she could surprise you with the little souvenir of a deadly warewolf bite, one you didn't have the cure of because your warewolf gene was never activated.
You weren't scared of her. No. You didn't feel anything. Just frustration. All anger anger anger anger.
As your hand sinked into her chest and she screamed out in agony, satisfaction slipped through your fingers. Your sister's blood in your hands may have been the prettiest art you had seen till today.
Then, a gasp echoed throughout the room.
You blinked in surprise as you felt a cold, thin metal etched into your back. The stinging of the blade made you let go of your sister's heart and stumble back. Your vision blurring slightly.
“Shh, shh, it's okay,” your dad's arms were the ones you fell into as you moaned in pain. “You'll be fine.”
“What are you doing?!” Rebekah exclaimed. “Pull the dagger out, Nik. Now!”
“This is your daughter, Niklaus!” Finn took her side as he helped Kol to his feet. He had been the one to take out the stake out of his chest.
Hope stared at your unconscious body as her own healed. It was turning gray little by little, the blood from her chest painted in both of your hands. The lifeless expression should've brought her relief. It did for a glimpse of second. Then the guilt arrived like a bucket of cold water.
She didn't particularly like you at that moment. She wanted you dead, quiet, unmoving. But the images of your daggered family through decades flashed in her mind. Their unfamiliarity with reality. Their numbness with life all together.
Hope didn't want that for you. You were her sister. Even if you tried to kill each other occasionally, even if she hates you some times.
It was her fault.
“Dad,” she croaked out, “Dad, pull it out,” her tone had an edge of desperation, the situation sinking in.
Has it gotten that bad that their father thought this would be the only solution? “Dad.”
“We have to find a way to control her.” He said calmly, caressing a few strands out of your bloodied face.
“You're not protecting her like this, Niklaus. You know this isn't what this is.” Elijah attempted to step closer. “We can handle the matter,”
“Don't say that.” Kol gazed up at him with bitterness. “Don't call my niece a matter because you can't admit the truth.” He didn't care that you had just literally stabbed him through his chest. You weren't aware of your surroundings, of what you were doing. He knew how that feels like. Not being in control was an all-too-familiar place he had been before. “We can help her without inflicting pain. She's struggling. She was tortured, Nik. The girl is traumatized. Do you think it will help if you keep her away for— what, how long this time? Three, seven years? She's your daughter. Snap out of it.”
“She'll regret you for the rest of her life if you do this.” Rebekah let out. Everyone turned to her. “I almost did.”
Klaus's eyes flickered to your peaceful demeanor for a moment, hand pressed against your cheek softly. He looked up at Hope, her desperate matching blue irises silently begging him.
A leftover daughter, right, Dad? Had he made you feel like that? He couldn't tell. Ever since Hayley died, he crawled into a wheel of uncertainty. He was buried underneath the earth of mistakes and enemies he had acquired. His own mind being the mastermind of it all.
One thing he was sure, the two of you were always and would always be equal in his heart. He'd have to make sure that you understood that. The last thing he could do as he lived was fail you.
Hayley would be so disappointed.
Just like Kol requested him to, he snapped out of it. The fear of facing your uncontrolled abilities materialised in the image of numbness in your eyes. He couldn't lose you. And he wouldn't. But his brother was right, inserting a dagger in your heart wouldn't make the situation better.
He had to learn from his mistakes at some point.
Your gasp as you returned to reality sent guilt right into his chest. Hope cradled your body in an embrace, mumbling I'm sorry's repeatedly. Everybody watched in expectation of your reaction. The furrow in your eyebrows as you studied your surroundings were a small indication that you were coming back.
Blinking slowly, you looked down at your sister with widened eyes, “Did I hurt you?” the question slipped as you noticed the blood in her clothes and the hole in her blouse.
Hope's tear-stricken expression switched to an amused one, “What do you think?” then, she started crying again. “I'm sorry, I didn't mean to say those things, I—”
The pang in your head made you wince slightly. The memories coming back.
You squeezed her arm, shaking your head, “It's fine. I don't know why I lost it. I'm sorry.” a frown etched into your forehead. “I didn't mean it, Hope.”
Meeting your eyes, she knew what you were talking about, “No, I am. I shouldn't have pushed you. You were right. I'm reckless and irresponsible and paranoid and I never put your first. I'm sorry. I love you, I'll try, okay? I never meant to hurt you.”
You sighed, a sad smile pulling at your lips, “Yeah, okay. I love you too.”
She hugged you again and a grimace twitched your face, “Uh, you've got blood all over you, can you...”
“And whose fault is that? That was my favourite blouse!”
“That was not your favourite blouse. Your favourite is a red one with a sweetheart neckline—”
“And they're back.” Kol rolled his eyes fondly, leaving to go back to his room. He needed to get you form his bloody clothes, thanks to you.
“Should we stay?” Finn queried Elijah, watching you bicker over a blouse. Elijah smiled faintly.
“No. It's all dealt with.” His eyes caught his half brother's across the room before he and Finn left. Get rid of the dagger or I'll get rid of you. He knew Klaus could read his mind — not literally — as no one else were able to do. He hoped he would at least listen to this advice.
Or else.
“Did you dagger me?”
He blinked caught of guard by your sudden appearance in front of him. Face emotionless.
Hope and Rebekah had left as well. Probably understanding that you need to talk privately.
“I did.” He said, eyes softening. “Sweetheart, I—” he was cut off by your arms wrapping around him in an awkward movement.
You weren't the closest pair of father and daughter out there. You've had your disagreements, there was a lot in which the both of you were different. Hayley was the one that you clinged to. Ever since you were a child. He knew you missed her warmth, her words, her. One could never move on fully after losing a mother. It's heart-wrecking. If he had any say on it, he would've never let Hayley go. He'd surrender in a heartbeat.
“Thanks for bringing me back, Dad.”
Klaus let out a shaky breath, caressing the back of your neck. And still, with Hayley gone, there was so much of you that brought her back constantly. Your eyes. Your compassion, mostly. “Do not thank me. I shouldn't have done that. It was wrong. Once again I have let myself be taken my selfish reasons. Sweetheart,” he cupped your cheeks, and you looked up at him. “I'm sorry.” That was the sentence Klaus found more difficult in saying out loud. This turned on his back quickly when you and Hope were born. It wasn't a matter of ego, anymore. It was about not hurting you the way he had been hurt by the people that gave him life. He'd rather die than disapoint his daughters. “If you need time away, I understand. That was wrong—”
“Will you let me speak or I'm supposed to stay quiet the whole time?”
Klaus snapped his mouth shut.
You smiled, “Alright. Yes, that was wrong and selfish. But so was I. I was out of me, Dad. Honestly, I don't know what would have happened if you hadn't done that. Hope, she— I can't even think—”
“Don't think. Nothing bad happened.”
“It might have!” You cried out. “I'm not okay. I don't know how to be okay. And I don't want to hurt anyone else in this process. What if the next time I snap it's you? Or uncle Elijah? Or anyone else?”
Klaus pressed a kiss against your forehead and brought you closer again, your shoulders slumped as you let you a sob. “I'm scared, Dad.”
“I know, I know.” He whispered, tightening his hold on you so you would calm down. “We'll get you help. You've been hurt, sweetheart. It's not going to be easy, it never is. But you'll get better. We'll be there.” He paused. “But first and foremost, don't ever think you are not loved by me. Or any of us. Is that clear? You come first. You always have and you always will. You and Hope.”
Hayley would've worded it out better.
You nodded weekly, averting his eyes.
“I'm going to make sure you don't feel like that anymore, alright?” He tipped your chin so you would meet his eyes. “You're not alone, honey,” the sniffles slipped from you against your will and soon the tears arrived. He dried one by one to then cradle your head against his chest.
Letting out a shaky breath, you buried your face deep into his shoulder. You were tired, but your family could give you strength. Even your mother — especially your mother — who might not be present but she was still there. You could feel it.
Your father smiled down at your bloodshot features, bopping your nose which made you crack a laugh. “Always and forever,” he whispered.
A promise.
“Always and forever,” you mumbled back, smiling in response.

being the youngest mikaelson and the boys being overprotective of reader and bex being super close with us (fem reader)
Love this concept. Not proofread.
Tumblr media
You'd be Bekah's twin, the closest and most loyal duo out of the whole family. You were softer than the rest of them, more understanding and kind.
Klaus was the most protective out of all of them, wanting nothing more than to shield you from all the horrors that your mom and dad included all of the children in. He almost died trying to kill his father, not wanting you to have the same fate as them and become a vampire.
He wanted you to have a normal life and he'll always hold a sense of hatred for himself for allowing you to get hurt and allowing your father to sabotage your life.
Not only were you the kindest, but you were the least experienced vampire, not wanting the blood lust or all the power that comes with being an original. Bek's definitely took over the messy part of it, almost playing bad cop to your good cop personality.
Though you and Bek's were the closest, you learned the most from Elijah. Elijah was similar to you in the fact that neither of you wanted to take advantage of your powers to ruin other peoples lives. You left that to Klaus.
But Elijah taught you how to read, how to speak different languages and everything your parents should have. You definitely thought of him as a parent figure even though he was your older brother.
Kol was more of the annoying but entertaining one. You two would get into harmless trouble every once in a while, pulling pranks and loosening the anxious tension between any of the other siblings. You both knew they took everything way too seriously.
Finn, you hated. He was your mothers lap dog to an annoying fault. You never liked your mother, you never liked what she stood for and sadly both Finn and Freya both adored her more than life it self.
So you stuck with Bek's, Klaus and Elijah for most of the years you've been alive. Kol was, ya know, indisposed for a while so you stuck with the three of them and let them guide you throughout life and all the supernatural and non-supernatural threats that were thrown your way.

━━ Power Struggle
Everything was great.
She was excited to attend high school despite having never attended one before. Her family still had the same dynamic as before their deaths. Clementine was at peace not having to worry about someone trying to kill her.
That is until she realized Elena, Bonnie, Caroline, and her alternate selves are her best friends. The fact that she is pals with the Salvatores is the cherry on top.
She has never before encountered a vampire or werewolf in her universe. She discovered that she had encountered and killed numerous vampires as the memories of her alternate self began to flood in.
Teenage Clementine has always come to everyone's rescue. Because of this, everyone had to rely on Clementine's magic in each and every battle, but ever since the adult Clementine entered the universe, her abilities were out of whack.
She ended up where she is currently because her powers went haywire. Kidnapped. While Clementine was attempting to be a good friend by making sure Elena wasn't left alone in the open at night, they were both ambushed.
Clementine sat up with a groan. She experienced a weighted feeling above her head. She quickly blinked her eyes open to clear up her foggy vision. This, given how dark the car was, was hardly anything. Clementine noticed Elena unconscious next to her. Her hands were bound together, so she was unable to shake Elena.
"What's going on?" She asked the person who was driving. Clementine knew most likely she wasn't going to get an answer, "Answer me!"
"Shut up!"
Clementine jumped in shock from the man's sudden outburst, "Where are you taking us?" She questioned again, only agitating the man farther, "I swear if you don't-"
The man turned around and backhanded Clementine causing her to hit her head on the window, "Fuck..." She mumbled before unconsciousness took over her.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
"Stop, touching me," Clementine whispered sharply to Elena as she nudged her, looking around the abandoned house in suspicion.
Elena held Clementine in a bear hug, slightly shaking, "Thank god you're right, Clem!"
"Great you're awake." A British accent caused the pair to jump apart. Clementine sat in front of Elena, waiting for the vampire to attack, "God, you look just like her."
"But I'm not, please whatever you want-" Elena tried to plead with the vampire but was cut short.
"Be quiet." The woman demands her and Elena looks at her pleadingly.
Clementine narrows her eyes at the vampire, "She's not Katherine." Clementine stated firmly.
"My name is Elena Gilbert. You don't have to do this." As Elena spoke she got closer to the vampire. Clementine tried to stop Elena from standing up, but Elena lightly pushed her away.
"I know who you are. I said be quiet."
"What do you want?" Elena cries, the woman grows tired of her whining and slaps her hard using her vampire strength, knocking Elena unconscious and onto the couch behind her. Clementine jumped in between the two, conjuring enough magic to send the vampire flying into the wall.
"Back off!" Clementine said, weakened. Her magic was causing her a headache. She what have inspected a headache if she used a lot of power but even the littlest usage caused headaches. Clementine didn't know what was happening to her.
"How did you?" The vampire spoke in disbelief at the usage of power. Clementine knew she had to play it smart, she couldn't fight anyone until she was in full control of her powers.
"It doesn't matter! I don't want to fight you but lay a hand on anyone us, I will." Clementine snarled, walking over to Elena. She sat on the sofa, placing Elena's head on her lap.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
"How's the girl?"
"Still passed out no thanks to you," Clementine remarks.
The vampire sighed, sympathy shown in her eyes as she looked at the pair, "You don't understand-" She tried to explain herself.
"I don't want to." Clementine cut her off, "Where are we?" She decided to ask.
"Can't tell you that." The vampire shrugged, not looking her in the eyes.
The man from earlier sped to Rose's side, "We should kill her." He stated while staring deep into Clementine's eyes, "Kill her before she kills us."
"No. If we also hand her over to Elijah we might have even more of a chance to get on his good side."
Clementine watched as the two sped off to another room to talk, "So you called him?"
"No. I called one of his contacts. You know how this works."
Clementine was so engrossed with their conversation that she didn't notice Elena awakening until she felt her sit up. As she begins to sit up, she put a finger to her lips to tell her to keep quiet.
Elena stands and gestures for Clementine to follow her upstairs so they can listen even more. Reluctantly, she follows.
"I'm sick of running!" The girl cries.
"Yeah? Well, running keeps us from dying." Trevor responds.
"Elijah's old school. If he accepts our deal, we're free." The other one says, dismissing the boy's words.
Suddenly, Elena steps on a creaky floorboard, and the woman turns quickly, noticing the both of them.
"You! There's nothing around here for miles. If you think either of you is getting out of this house, you're tragically wrong. Understand?" She yells.
"Who's Elijah?" Clementine asks, curiosity getting the better of her.
"Your worst nightmare." She replies before returning to Trevor.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
Elena, curious as she is, follows the woman off into a room. Trevor enters as Elena leaves and sits next to you.
"Can I help you?" She muttered.
"I can't tell if you're brave or stupid for talking to a vampire-like that." He responds.
"Why are you keeping us here?"
"You both ask a lot of questions." He states.
"And I'd like answers." She sighed.
"I don't understand why. Rose seems to think handing you two over will redeem us. I think it's a death wish." He responds vaguely.
"Because of Elijah?" Clementine asks.
"You are quite the eavesdropper." He says.
"Who is Elijah? A vampire?" She asks, ignoring his sarcasm.
"He's one of the vampires. He's an original." He tells Clementine, finally revealing some information.
"What's an original?" She asked, puzzled.
"Don't the Salvatores teach you anything?" He asks.
Clementine sighs annoyingly, "I don't usually care for vampire business."
"Well then." Trevor sighs. "The originals are people we've been running from for 500 years. My sister believes that if we use you two, we can negotiate ourselves out of the mess." He sighs.
"Why us?" She asked, still not understanding.
"You're here by accident. The girl is however a Petrova Doppelgänger. She's the key to breaking the stupid curse." He sighs.
"The sun and moon curse or whatever?"
"You do know some history." He replies sarcastically.
"How is Elena the key to breaking it though? I thought that was the moonstone."She sighed.
"No. It's binding to the curse. What breaks it is the sacrifice." He explains.
"Oh. Wait what sacrifice?" She questioned.
"The sacrifice of the one with the doppelgänger blood. Your friend." He responds. Before you can react, Elena comes back in with the woman.
"Tell me more," Elena asks.
"Captivity has made her pushy, eh? They're the first family. Rose and I pissed them off." Trevor says and the woman she now knows as Rose gives him a pointed stare.
"Ok I pissed them off, Rose had my back and for over a millennium, they wanted us dead." Trevor corrects himself, obviously annoyed.
"What'd you do?" She asks piping into the conversation.
"He made the same mistake countless others did. He trusted Katerina Petrova." She says simply.
"Katherine." Elena sighs.
"The one and only. The first Petrova Doppelgänger." Rose elaborates.
"I helped her escape her fate and now I've, sorry, we've been marked ever since," Trevor adds.
"Which is why we're not gonna make the same mistake again," Rose says sternly before turning on her heel and going to wait for something. Or someone.
▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃▃
Not long after, Trevor is pacing around the room in a panic about someone wanting him dead and Rose is trying to convince him everything will be fine. She's convinced that whoever this 'Elijah' is, he'd want Elena and Clementine more than their deaths which makes Clementine feel slightly uneasy.
Clementine doesn't know if she's ready to get into a fight with anyone, but if it comes down to it she knew what she had to do.
Suddenly, there's a knock on the door. Rose takes a deep breath before beginning to walk away to answer it.
"You're scared." Elena states and Clementine glares at her, telling her to stop talking. Rose ignored her and told Trevor to stay with the two of them.
An elegant male voice wafts throughout the house. "Rose Marie is there somewhere we can talk?" He asks her and Clementine's stomach does a small flip.
"Yes. In here." She directs him into the house and apologizes for how messy it is but he simply shrugs it off a moment later.
"So tell me. What is it that gives you the courage to call me?" The man asked.
Rose sighed, "I want my freedom. I'm tired of running. Do you have the authority to grant me that?"
"I have complete authority to pardon you and your little pet. What's his name these days? Trevor. If I see fit." The man assures her. At the sound of being insulted, Trevor glares quietly at the door.
"Katerina Petrova?"
The man becomes engaged, "I'm listening."
"She didn't burn in the church in 1864." Rose explained, watching the original vampire sit down, "She survived."
"Where is she?"
"You don't seem surprised by this." To her surprise, he doesn't seem the least bit shocked at the fact that she's still alive.
"Oh, when you called and invited me into this armpit of civilization, which is Aamir three hours from the time we know as Mystic Falls. I surmised it had everything to do with Katerina. Do you have her in your possession?"
"no, I have better. I have the doppelgänger."
The man shook his head in disbelief, "that's impossible. Her family line ended with her. I lived the fact."
"The facts are wrong." She disagreed.
"Well show it to me."
Rosesteppedp toward the original vampire and she said, "Elija,h you're a man of honor. You're to be trusted, but I want you to hear you say it again." She asked for clarification.
"You have my word that I will pardon you." He reassured her.
"Follow me."
Then, the door opens. Elena gets startled and turns towards the door and a man rushes in using vampire speed, right to her. The man looks over Elena for a moment then slightly sniffs her neck.
"Human. It's impossible." He states. Then he looks directly at her face. "Hello there."
Clementine stayed silent, holding her breath and standing away from them, prepared for the worst.
"And you. Who is this?" He asks as he lays eyes on her. He analyzes her entire body, sending chills down her spine the more he watches Clementine.
"A witch of some sort."
Elijah stops and thinks for a moment, watching her intently before speaking again, "We have a long journey ahead of us. We should be going." He says finally, gesturing to Clementine and Elena to come with him.
"We're not going with you," Clementine stated, feeling her eyes beginning to turn red.
"You will If you do I won't harm anyone you or anyone you love."
Elena gives Rose a pleading look. "Please. Don't let him take us." She begs.
Elijah faces Rose again. "One last piece of business and we're done." He says before walking gracefully over to Trevor.
"I've waited so long for this day Elijah. I'm truly, very sorry." Trevor cries to him, a look of obvious remorse and regret taking over his face.
"Oh no, your apology's not necessary," Elijah says, sounding almost bored.
"But it is. You trusted me with Katerina and I failed you." Trevor insists, staring at the ground in guilt. Clementine held Elena's hand tight while watching the interaction.
Clementine felt so unless at the moment. They wouldn't even be in this situation if she didn't slack off and focus on controlling her powers again.
"I beg your forgiveness." Trevor pleads
"So granted," Elijah replies. But then, Elijah makes one swift motion, and Trevor's head goes flying across the room. Elena let out a loud, scared gasp and Rose looks at him, horrified and furious no doubt.
"You!" She cries, tears in her eyes and her tone crackling with anger.
Elijah looks in her direction calmly. "Don't Rose. Not now that you are free." He warns.
"Come." He says calmly.
"No. What about the moonstone?" Clementine says defiantly.
"What do you know about the moonstone?" He asks, suddenly curious.
"We know that you need it and where it is," Elena replies.
"Yes?" Elijah asks, intrigued.
"I can help you get it," Clementine replies calmly.
"Tell me where it is." Elijah orders.
"It doesn't work that way," Clementine says.
"Are you negotiating with me?" He asks her, a smile fighting its way to his lips, showing he's amused by her brave act.
He turns to Rose questioningly.
"It's the first I've heard of it." She says with a shrug. Elena watches as he tries to compel Clementine but sees it doesn't work. She knew ever since Clementine found out that vampires can mind control people. She's always kept a mental shield up.
Suddenly, there's the sound of glass shattering from upstairs.
"What is that?" Elijah asks Rose. Without a word, he grabs Clementine by the shoulder then grabs Elena and rushes both to another part of the house using his vampire speed.
"Hey! I'm not some rag doll." Clementine argued, slightly pushing him away.
"Rose." He says warningly.
"I don't know who it is." She says.
Suddenly, a familiar voice sounds from upstairs. "Up here." Clementine heard Stefan say.
Elijah rushes up the stairs using his speed, "Down here." Another Salvatore's voice rings out from downstairs.
Damon stabs Elijah through the hand, which he simply took out with a groan. Stefan took both the girls to a different hallway, shushing the two. Stefan points to his forehead, signaling for Clementine to read his mind.
As she does his voice goes in and out, but she gets the message. She nods and removes herself from his grasp. Clementine walked to the top of the stairs, Elijah snapping his head towards her.
Clementine focused on her magic, her hand slightly shaking as red glowed from it. Elijah watched in amazement as she did so. Soon The amazement turned into shock, as red engulfed his body.
She throws him into the wall, holding him there, "Now!" She yelled, signaling for Damon. He appeared from the shadows, staking Elijah in the heart.
As his body became limp, Clementine's magic vanished. "I never thought I would say this but I'm glad to see you," she whispered. She approached Damon and gave him a bear hug.

Platonic Klaus x fem!Reader
Klaus has a unknown daughter with his old lover named Jen
(Mother- Jennifer Montgomery
Hope and Haley are not in this book )
If you have any ideas for the plot I might work them in just comment or message me
____________________________
Kj's POV
I was walking through New Orleans trying to find my mother
"grate one day here and I already lost her" I grumble to myself I make the decision to call her
~calling mommy🧛🏼‍♀️~
Kj- hello
Mom- hello,who is this
Kj- mom are you kidding me we have been here for least the a day and I already can't find you where are you
Mom(Elijah)-ah you must be the miracle child, this is not your mother if you want her alive you will meet me at the crypt
kJ- "one day here one fucking day and she managed to get her self in to some bullshit" I mumbled to myself "I am on my way if there is even a scratch on her I will rip your heart out and shove it so far down your throat you will feel it beating in your stomach"
-call ended-
Jen' POV
I'm am in the living room of the Michaelson home I look over at Elijah and say "was that necessary" he looks at me and smirks "yes it was" I roll my eyes "I will get the others" he says before walking off
Aerator's POV
Elijah walk to the basement where all the mikaelson siblings are they all look to see who is about to walk though the door when they see Elijah kol is the first to speak "well is anyone going to tell me why klaus is chained up not that I'm complaining" Rebecca looks at him and scoffs and looks at Elijah for an answer Elijah looks up and says " there is something I found out recently well me and Freya found out our brother Nicholas here has a child he doesn't know about" Rebecca gasps, kol smirked " not surprising but carry-on" he says under his breath, Elijah continues " free I had a vision of a girl around 15 and her mother the girl was A direct copy paste of Klaus it was shocking but I was able to track down the mother and talk her into coming here" they nodded together then Becca speaks again " that doesn't answer the question on why Claus is chained up" Elijah picks up the chains to drag The knocked out Clouse out of the room and says " precaution" bluntly and they all file back into the living room
Jen's POV
I see the father of my child being dragged into the room I give a look of amusement before I see the other two mikaelson siblings faces which both have a look of shock " Jen it has been awhile " Becca says before coming up to hug me kol with his natural smug look on his face says " you haven't aged a day" I look at him unamused and says " you haven't either but then again you were in a box most of the time" I hear Elijah chuckle lowly behind me " low blow" lol says before sitting down " so where's the child" Rebecca asked slowly getting excited " she will be here soon Elijah called her threatening to 'kill me' she is on her way" they both laughing " wouldn't get too excited she seems exactly like her father from what I heard on the phone" we all look at him confused I did hear the phone call so I am interested " what ever do you mean brother" kol says " oh I don't know it could be the part where she said "if there's a scratch on her I will rip your heart out and shove it so far down your throat you will feel it beating in your stomach" they have a mixture of shock and amusement on their  face " that's what happeneds when you have a tybrid child" they all laughed
Kj's POV
this is ridiculous I asked for one day of peace with this woman can't even get that well what can I do about it, nothing.
I walk into the quarter and a bunch of hybrids walk up to me " what is a little thing like you doing here all alone" I scoffed " this little thing is going to beat your ass if you doing get out of my way " I say with a sarcastic smile
"Now I would be carful with how you speak to me" the big one says getting closer "why is that " I say back unamused " this is why " he grabs my arm I immediately flip him over and the rest come at me we start to fight
—Time skip brought to you by Carol Lockwood swimming skills—
There are now at least 14 dead hybrids surrounding me I brush off my clothes and continue to walk forward kick open the door and see my mother and three random people sitting in front of a fireplace reading a book with a man chained to the wall I gave a confused look towards my mother give me a concern look probably about all the blood on my hands
" please tell me I did not come all the way over here to witness your vampire book club" I said obviously annoyed " is there a problem with that" The blonde girl says to me " oh yes Blondie it was a major inconvenience" I smile sarcastically and roll my eyes back to my mother " so what was the life for death situation because you look pretty comfortable to me" she looks down and looks back at me and starts " remember the conversation we had about your father" " yes and apparently told you and if you did you remember I said I wanted nothing to do with him" losing my patience very quickly " well I'm going to continue anyway your father's name is Klaus he is the man that's the chain to the wall and when he wakes we will talk to him" I rolled my eyes " from what I remember he does even know who I am so why do I have to be here" and the  siblings stay quiet and watch what happening " he deserves to know he has a daughter even though all the horrible things he's done he deserves to know he has a daughter" " you can know but why do I have to be here I've lived my life without a father and I'm perfectly fine" before she can answer we hear the sound of chains rattling And The man in the suit which I'm assuming is the guy that called me immediately stand up and says " good morning Brother did you have a nice slumber" The man pulls on the chains but they don't budge and says " Elijah would you like to explain why am chained to the wall and who that child is" I glared at him and Elijah proceeds to explain to him everything he looks pissed and glares at my mother " that's why you left me Jen why didn't you tell me" my mother looks at him " what would you have done if I told you close what would you have done your so obsessed with making your hybrids" he looks down in shame. I couldn't help myself I bust out laughing he looks up at me slowly "who are you laughing at little girl"
I stopped laughing immediately and glare at him "you." Everyone in the room take a step back I slowly walk closer to him " you know when I grow up my mother would tell me a bedtime story is about a legend and then he was both vampire and werewolf the original hybrid who was a royal a king" I looked down and scoffed " obviously those are all stories only they were told the truth there was a broken man who split up his family for power he wanted to make an army because he was so scared of losing himself he became obsessed with the army so obsessed that his wife didn't even wanna tell him that she was pregnant" " The story is told that the man is the strongest being on this earth but yet a couple chains can hold him down" looking him dead in the eye " pathetic" he looked at me shocked " I am the hybrid I cannot be killed" he yells in my face " hybrid that it looks like you're not the strongest thing on this earth anymore" The blonde girl looks at Elijah confused and says " what does she mean" for he can answer a cut in not ripping my eyes off of my so-called father " you might be the hybrid but I am a tybrid" he looks shocked but Elijah speaks up again " KJ take him out of those chains" I look at klaus and says " you can't get up by yourself pity" in a teasing voice he tries to rip out of the chains as hard as he can they don't budge I skip over to him and ripped the chains without even trying smirks at him and walks away

You groan as you hear your alarm go off. You contemplate on whether or not you should throw it out the window.
"Shut off the bloody alarm," Klaus says from his spot next to you on the bed.
You reach over and press the stop button before looking outside. A smile makes its way to your face when you see the rain pouring down. You turn and kiss Klaus on the forehead, "Nik, get up, it's raining!"
"So?" He pulls the blankets closer to him, effectively ripping them off your body. After dealing with that for so long, you don't even bother trying to steal them back.
"Well, we can't let a good rainy day go to waste, can we?"
"Of course we can, love."
You roll your eyes and huff as you fall back on the bed, "Well, if you don't get up, I guess I'll have to find someone else to spend the day with. Maybe that brunette Salva-"
In an instant Klaus is up and on top of you on the bed, "I think my company would be better than his anyday," he narrows his eyes at you.
"I don't know about that," you push further, "he was good company that one night a few weeks-"
You are cut off as Klaus starts tickling your sides, "What was that, love?"
You squirm under him as you try to break away, "Nik! I c-can't breathe! Stop! Please!" Your laughs make him smile, showing his beautiful dimples that you love so much.
"Hm, since you asked so nicely," he stops and falls next to you on the mattress. His head is resting on his arm and he looks at you with adoration in his eyes. "You're so beautiful, sweetheart," he whispers.
Your face heats up at the compliment. "I also think you are very pretty, Mr. Scary Original Hybrid."
He grins, "You think I'm scary?"
"Oh, not at all, you are a soft puppy," you take a hand and squeeze his cheeks.
He playfully scoffs and grabs your wrist, "I am not a puppy."
"Sure you aren't. Anyway, I was thinking we could bake some cookies."
"Great idea, love."
You two get out of bed and go to the bathroom. You both brush your teeth, hair, and after having a small water fight, you wash your faces.
You head to the kitchen with Klaus behind you. You grab a bowl and place it on the counter, "Nik, can you grab the butter, flour, eggs, sugar, and chocolate chips."
He nods and gets them while you grab a whisk, pan, and preheat the oven.
"Thank you." You two now add the ingredients into the measuring cups so everything is prepared. "Okay, do you want to do the honor of pouring the first ingredient," you ask him.
"'Course I do," he grabs the flour and holds it over the bowl.
"Pour it slow-"
It was too late. He flipped the cup upside down and although most four stayed in the bowl, there was a good amount now floating in your faces. Klaus and you swat your hands and cought a bit at you breathe in the flower.
"Oops. Now I know for next time," he shrugs.
"Who says you are going to pour it next time?"
"Me-"
"Let's add the softened butter and eggs now," you put them into the bowl and handed Klaus the whisk. "Stir gently, please."
He nods and as he stirs you slowly pour in the sugar and then the chocolate chips.
"Perfect! We can start rolling them and placing them on the pans."
You two roll them into balls and space them out on the baking pans before putting them in the oven. After washing your hands, you and Klaus go into the living room as he picks a movie, "The Parent Trap? Nik, you know me too well."
"What can I say," he grabs a blanket and tosses it onto the couch. You sit down and cuddle with him on the couch as you wait for the cookies to finish.
The timer on the oven goes off and you stand up, place the oven mitts on, and take the two pans out, putting them on the stove. Nik appears next to you and he goes to grab one but you slap his hand away. "No! They are too hot, Nik. You'll burn yourself."
"Pfft, I'm an Original, love. A cookie isn't going to burn me," he goes back to grab one. You sigh and watch in amusement as he places one in this mouth, jumps around while it burns him, rushes to the garbage to spit it out, and then goes to the sink to spray cold water in his mouth.
"What happened to, 'i'M aN oRiGiNaL, lOvE. a CoOkIe IsN't GoInG tO bUrN mE.'"
He crosses his arms and walks out of the kitchen back to the couch. You laugh and follow him to continue the movie while the cookies cool down.
Tumblr media
Now you were laying on a couch in Klaus' art room as he painted you. "Nikkkk, this is taking forever," you groan.
"Don't move, love. I'm almost done."
You think for a moment, "Isn't the butterfly effect crazy?"
He lets out a deep sigh, "Not this again, love. Last time you made my brain hurt."
"It's just like, interesting to think about. If I take one step in another direction, that changes my whole life. That brought me to thinking about other dimensions."
"Other dimensions?"
"Yeah. I heard somewhere that there could be other dimensions where there is every other choice you could possibly have made. That's a lot of dimensions."
"I'm confused," Klaus glances at you and continues to paint.
"Here's an easy example, if there was a fork in the road and I chose one choice option, in another dimension I would have chosen the other."
"Ohh, that makes sense."
"Yeah, so then I was like, wondering if there are several versions on ourselves living on earth in the same timeline."
Klaus drops his head, "Sweetheart, I don't know how much more my brain can handle."
"Okay, I'll save that one for another day. It's hard to explain anyway."
"I'll hold you to that, love. I just finished anyway, come and see," he says excitedly. Although he has hundreds of drawings and paintings of you, he gets just as excited to show you them each time.
You head over to where he was sitting in front of his canvas, "Nik! It's stunning!"
"Not as stunning as you," he winks at you.
"I love it, Nik."
"And I love you," he pulls you to him and places his lips on yours. You pull back after a bit and leave him in a daze.
Tumblr media
It's now afternoon time and Klaus said he was going to take you out to dinner. He told you to dress up but you were stuck on picking a dress. There was only one person you could call for help on this matter.
You go and grab your phone, scrolling through the contacts, before calling the number. After about two rings, the call is picked up.
"Bex!"
"Hello, angel," you hear the voice of your best friend come through the phone.
"Bekah, I miss you so much."
"I miss you, too. Is Nik being tolerable? If not I can come and rescue you and we could run away together."
"Yes he is, but I'll take up that offer any day."
"Great! I'll start planning."
"Before you do that, I need your help. Nik is taking me to dinner and I can't pick a dress. I have three top choices but I need you to pick from them, please," you say while grab a perfume you are going to put on.
"Sure! Send me seperate pictures of each one and I'll text you which one I think you should wear."
"Thank you! You're a lifesaver, I love you so much."
"Love you, too. Call me again soon!"
"Of course, bye Bex."
You hand up the phone and send pictures of the dresses. A minute later you get a response from her and you smile. You throw on the dress she picked and you go into the bathroom to do your hair and makeup.
You finish getting ready and put your heels on. You go downstairs and see Klaus on the couch waiting for you. He hears you and turns, he has you clench his jaw to keep it from dropping.
"Are you ready to go, Nik?" You stroll towards him and grab his hand.
He blushes and stutters out a yes. He grabs his car keys and you grab a large umbrella. Klaus grabs you by the waist and speeds you both into the car so you were barely wet.
On the drive there, Klaus let you choose the music - which barely ever happens. You, of course, took that to your advantage.
You get into the diner and the waiter takes you to a booth. You order drinks and Klaus glare as the waiter as he takes your food order.
He walks away nervously and you put your head on your hand as your elbow rests on the table.
"Is it really necessary to glare at the poor boy?"
"Yes it was. He was staring at you."
"Usually when you are talking to a person, you look at them."
"He was stuttering."
"Probably because you were scaring him."
"But-"
"You get jealous too often."
"I can't help it, you are too gorgeous."
"I promise you that you don't have to get jealous, Nik. I love you," you smile at him.
"I love you, too," he grumbles.
The waiter comes back with your food, "H-here you go, enjoy."
You smile at the boy and whisper, "Sorry about him."
He nods and smiles back before walking away.
Tumblr media
After Nik pays for the dinner, you too go back to the car. Once you arrive back home, Klaus carries you inside and speeds you to your shared room.
He tosses you onto the bed and goes on top of you. He kisses you so passionately that it speaks so many words.
You tug on his hair in the back and he puts a hand on your waist and one resting on the bed next to your head.
He bites your bottom lip and slides his tongue against it. You open your mouth and move your tongues against one another. You both pull back breathlessly after a few minutes.
"I've been waiting for that all night," Klaus says.
"Of course you have. Do you want to get ready for bed?"
"Sure," he kisses your cheek and rolls off of you.
Klaus speeds to the bathroom across the hall to get ready and you use the one in this room. You take off the makeup and jewelry. You do your nighttime routine and throw on one of Klaus' shirts and a new pair of underwear.
You hop into bed and pull the cover over you. Klaus joins you and you hand him the remote, "You can pick what we watch this time."
"Hmm, decisions, decisions."
He finally picks a movie and you are surprised to see it was Twilight. "You enjoyed the movie?" You recall back to when you introduced him to the saga and he seemed like he hated it the whole time.
"Not exactly, but it's fun seeing the way they made vampires and werewolves."
"Touché."
You lay your head on Klaus' chest while he plays with your hair. Your eyes flutter shut about an hour and a half into the movie. He kisses your head and whispers, "Goodnight, my love," before falling asleep.

Part of the Action

summary: you're about to be left out of yet another mikaelson plan, when an accidental mix-up happens that might convince them to let you help them. OR, you prove that you've got a lot more fire than the mikaelsons give you credit for.

You lay across the couch as Klaus goes over his plan for the third time. Your legs are in Kol’s lap, while your head is in Rebekah’s. As he strokes his finger along your thigh, she’s playing with your hair, and none of you are paying much attention to the hybrid. Elijah’s trying his best to listen to his brother, but he’s consumed by a jealousy of not being able to touch you while his siblings do that makes him deaf to the plan.
“So I’ll need one of you to distract Damon, another to distract Stefan, and-” Klaus pauses, “are any of you idiots listening to me?”
Four pairs of eyes immediately snap up to him.
“Could you stop petting the girl for one minute so you can tune into my plan for world domination?”
“She’s just so soft, Niklaus,” Rebekah whines, digging her hands into your scalp sweetly.
“Yes, I know, but this is important.”
“So is taking time to relax and love on our little girl.”
He sighs, then looks at you expectantly. You’re only able to fight his gaze for a minute before surrendering. Both Kol and Bekah argue as you move to be sitting in between them, not touching either of them.
“Thank you, love. Now, this is the plan. One of you distracts Damon, another distracts Stefan. I grab Elena. Y/N, you stay here, because you are not getting caught in any crossfire-”
“Why do you never let me help?”
“Pardon?”
“Why do I always have to sit out when you guys are acting out on plans? I can help. I want to help.”
“We will not risk you getting hurt, baby. It is imperative that you stay here where you’re safe,” Elijah speaks for them all.
“If I get hurt, you can just heal me! I want to help!”
“No, Y/N. That is an order. You stay here.”
“I can’t be here all the time while you’re always fighting. What if you get hurt?”
“We will heal.”
“Well you can heal me.”
“Love, it’s a no. Now stop fighting the matter before it results in punishment.”
You glare at the two eldest brothers, but then drop your gaze and pout.
Kol immediately leans over to whisper, “we love you too much for you to get hurt, darling. Yes, we can heal you, but there’s still so much risk.”
“Fine,” you mutter. “I’ll stay back. Again.”
He smiles, then kisses your cheek.
Klaus continues plotting. “I’ll only need Elena for a second, so you all only need to distract them for a little bit. Just long enough for me to make my point.”
You zone out while he talks, knowing there’s no use in listening anyway since you’re on the outs. At some point, Elijah sets his wine glass on the coffee table to stand up to talk to Klaus. Your eyes focus on it. I’m in desperate need of some wine to deal with this shit again, you think, ‘Lijah won’t mind if I steal a sip.
In one quick motion, you reach for the glass and bring it to your lips.
He spins around at the sound of movement, eyes immediately going wide. “Baby, that’s not wine. Put it-”
Too late. You take a big sip of the liquid. It’s already in your mouth by the time you realize it’s blood. It shocks you for a second; Elijah’s not usually one to drink blood from wine glasses - that’s usually Kol. But as it sits in your mouth, you find yourself enjoying the taste. It’s thick, oozy, and something about it makes you feel powerful. Like what once was someone’s life force is now being consumed by you.
In one gulp, you swallow it. It’s heavy down your throat and bubbles in your stomach. The taste lingers on your lips, stained red from its color.
You set the glass down and lie back on the couch, but not without swiping your tongue across your lips first. “What?” You question the four siblings staring at you. They’re all speechless, yet the longer you look, the more you recognize the love and lust in their eyes.
Klaus is the first to break the silence. “Well, judging by that, maybe our beautiful and bloodthirsty girl is ready to be a part of the action.”
