Researchers discover dual topological phases in an intrinsic monolayer crystal
Dual topological phases have been discovered in an intrinsic monolayer crystal, a finding that reveals new and unique rule-bending properties in a quantum material, an international team of scientists led by Boston College physicists reported recently in the online version of the journal Nature. The discovery of a dual topological insulator introduces a new method for creating topological flat minibands through electron interactions, which offer a promising platform for exploring exotic quantum phases and electromagnetism, the team reported. "We have experimentally produced high-quality, atomically-thin samples of TaIrTe4 and developed corresponding electronic devices," Boston College Assistant Professor of Physics Qiong Ma, the lead author of the report. "What's particularly intriguing is our discovery of not just one, but two topological insulating states, beyond the predictions of theory."

Thoughts
My leg workout was very humbling today. I originally planned to do grande battements 10x3 on each leg, front side and back with a 10s hold + tilt kicks, but I only managed side before my strength ran out, and my third hold on each side was terrible. It's been a while since I trained them though, so I probably shouldn't be so discouraged, especially given I did a miniband workout before.
The yoga afterwards was nice though. A gentle, easy flow to get me back into it after a loooong break.
Today's classroom is a 30 minute walk away, so I got an hour's walk in too.
Chocolate pancakes were maybe a liiiiittle indulgent, but they were tasty and I was within my calorie goal, so I'm not mad about it. I wanted to have a banana but all the ones at the shop were a bit too green for me. So pancakes it was 😅
All in all, a somewhat gentle easing back into working out and trying to eat semi-healthy.

As I'm entering w.38, here is what I currently do at the gym:
- 10min walking on treadmill with ~2% incline. Speed depends a bit on how I'm feeling that day. I combine this with the pelvic floor "squeeze", usually 10-15 repetitions of about 20sec each
- 20-30 min strength training, either upper or lower body (up until last week I would do full body every session but now I'm a bit slower so decided to split it up.
Lower body:
* Goblet squats with kettlebell & miniband above the knees, 3x15
* Romanian deadlift with kettlebells/dumbbells, 3x12
* Clamshell with miniband above the knees, 3x20
* Standing kickbacks with miniband above ankles, 3x15
* Shallow curtsy lunges with kettlebells/dumbbells, 3x10
Upper body:
* Kettlebell rowing, 3x12
* Upright row with kettlebell, 3x12
* Bicep curls with dumbbells, 3x10
* Floor chest press with kettlebell/dumbbell, 3x12
* Inverted row, 3*12
In both sessions I like to also include Alternating arm & leg raise (3x12) for core stability

When I was 8 years old, I was in the third grade. I started to love sports, I joined soccer to play on our intrams and our team won. Our Adviser said that there will be a district meet for sports, I tried out to represent our school, I'm not good at those sports but I tried, and thank god I was selected, I was very happy when I found out that I was selected , I immediately told this to my dad and he was also happy. At that time I didn't have shoes to use and to pay for the jersey we were going to wear, but my dad made a way so I could buy shoes. I also joined the Miniband, I was supposed to be a drummer but they no longer have a slot for that, so I just played the xylophone, at first it was difficult but after a while I learned, we played instruments at every event in our school, it was difficult because I was carrying a heavy weight instrument then walking yet, but it was a great experience for me because I never thought I would be able to do that and im thankful to my dad who does everything just to make me happy.
