Silly question, is the necklace Camila wearing a tiara too?
That's not a silly question at all!
Tumblr media
Nine times out of ten if you asked that about a fringe the answer would be that it's a convertible necklace/tiara but this is one of the rare exceptions. According to Hugh Roberts in The Queen's Diamonds, Queen Elizabeth's City of London Fringe Necklace is not convertible to a tiara. A jeweler could modify it so that it could attach to a tiara frame but the BRF haven't needed to do that because they have Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara already.

Here's Queen Elizabeth II double fringing it with Queen Mary's Fringe Tiara and her own City of London Fringe Necklace in 2012 for a diamond jubilee portrait as Queen of New Zealand.

I was hoping the holiday sitter would be good.
The fact its taken hallmark this long to understand the basic 'love is love' premise is a minor inch that I'm trying not to poke at...
Small steps are still steps... I hope this continues. People deserve to see love in all its forms.
(& now I'll step off my soapbox & apologise for the rant. Thank you so much for an awesome blog)
While I personally loved the movie, I totally get what you mean. It is a shame that it's taken Hallmark this long. But at the same time I'm proud that the network seems to be actively continuing celebrating and representing rather than do it once then stopping for a long time if that makes.
But yes, steps forward is progress, even if it's not at the pace people want. At the end of the day, I'm just glad to see Hallmark moving ahead and I personally do think it will continue.
No need to apologize, I love a good rant, especially when about Hallmark movies haha. Also thank you enjoying my blog. It really means a lot to me!

@mintley8 replied to your post: two-guys-criticise-captain-marvel-she-is:
So... The point they seem to be making is if Captain Marvel was a man, they'd be ok with the movie? Oh for fucks sake! This is why we have problems with having female superheroes! They can't cope with a woman who is strong & doesn't need a man to... Basically, exist.
For some men, if the woman isn't fuckable, then the movie isn't even worth it. The problem is that some of those men are in charge of the movie making progress... Or are the only target for the movies... Which is a... Annoying thing to realise.
Yes. Woman have to be better and more and most of all they have to be female, intelligent, strong, but also vulnerable, have a character arc, have a moral, be role model for girls, etc. etc... It just piles on, what a “good” female-lead superhero movie should be like. It’s not enough to be “just” an action-flick like all the others.
And I’m basically so disappointed, because I usually like their opinions on movies and they are self-aware enough to start their review with “We are aware that we are two guys and might not get every perspective on this movie.”. So they aren’t just some idiots, but usually very introspective. They like Captain Marvel reminds them a lot of action movies from the 80s, which they liked. Just that they expect more of a female lead superhero-movie. That’s though totally unnecessary double-standards. Even with movies female ideas have to be better. Apparently it isn’t enough for a woman to have a action-packed and fun afternoon.
Then the next movie they review is the new movie with Frank Grillo “Boss Level”, which according to them is an action-packed, fun movie to watch with your buddies. And they love that. - Double standard at its best. And further pushing the stereotype that mindless action-movies are just for men.
(Fun fact: The show is the two men and two women doing reviews in different constellations and one man and one woman are married. The usually have pretty similar tastes. Yet when it’s only the two guys they fall back onto stereotypes. Every single time.)

Two things: 1: I love your theme, the colour scheme is a most excellent choice & 2: the custom funkos are your handwork? Wow! You have an awesome eye for detail...
Thank you!
The funko thing was actually a weird consequence of the really unfortunate Once Upon a Time hiatus.  The fandom was a war zone and I had discovered that the first few times I made funkos it was a pure fandom experience.  No one got mad at cute toys.  And each one I made gave me more experience and so as I made a massive number of them I learned new things.
But I should say it helps that I don’t make commissions for funkos that I haven’t already made.  So I have a fan’s eye for characters I love and a lot of time to select just the right parts.

Awesome thought person you: do you have an opinion on the Johnny Depp mess? Both the case, the decision to drop him & the ideas on who to replace him?
& as a minor query (just as an aside to the main one) : who would you get to replace him? Or would you shut the series down?
I think that the whole mess belongs in court and not in the media. These constant little leaks and accusations of “who did/said what” are another form of abuse. Even things that do get disproved continue to float around as truth. Even without seeking out any information, the bits and pieces I do hear make me dislike a lot of persons. I do trust in the courts and the decisions of the court (most importantly in such cases their explanation of a ruling).
Even before the whole divorce mess though it was apparent that Johnny Depp has issues and problems. The fallouts from that have been very public and I have a hard-time looking at his movies and not think of all the times I saw pictures of him not being able to stand straight at premieres or falling from planes, because he was too drunk to function. I’m all for given people second chances and helping them through a crisis and their problems. But I don’t think that ignoring them, like Hollywood-studios do, is a good way. The studios do have a responsibility, when they cover something up and then drop someone, once it isn’t feasible for them any longer.
This whole ping-pong of evereager fans, studios that ignore issues, and very public shitstorms is a very toxic environment. I do think that studios should somehow think over their ethical guidelines and then adhere to them. Either protect their talent from shitstorms or don’t hire the people in the first place. Then if they learn about something that is against their rules they should act accordingly and not wait for a shitstorm. I mean, just the idea that Johnny Depp was asked to step down is such a cop-out. I get that they do it, because it costs them less money and is a safer way as it avoids a lawsuit. But yeah...
Fantastic Beasts is a difficult case, even without the Grindelwald-issue, you have the JKR-problem and the fact that the second movie is a mess. I really, really loved the first one. I wasn’t a big Harry Potter fan, but this series is something that I really could embrace. Adult characters, friendship, a bit of romance, magic and super cute fantastic beasts. I loved the first one so much. The second one is a let-down even if I ignore everything around it. The plot is bouncing around like a pinball.
If they have an idea where they want to go with it and really have a plot and script finished, I’d totally give them another chance and watch a third movie. Because I do want to like it. For Grindelwald the straight-forward thing to do would have been to rehire Colin Farrell, but apparently he said no (for scheduling reasons?), apparently they are replacing him now with Mads Mikkelsen. I’m okay with that, because I like Mads Mikkelsen. So yeah. :)
