ok since tears of the kingdom is coming out like. insanely soon i figured i’ll just dump how i’ve been feeling abt it here. i wont tag for them and i dont intend to share any but because i have been actively seeking out spoilers i will vaguely reference them here so… idk really long musings on this game and my feelings abt it

(im just writing this out mostly for myself since i really kind of just. want to really figure out how i feel about this)

i… am not excited for totk?

i’ve figured out a bit ago that my severely waning interest in botw and general anxiety and discontent surrounding totk is just that… these games arent for me. i dont enjoy open world games with half a million things for you to do like it’s basically a sandbox. i struggle to really enjoy singleplayer minecraft. the space stage in spore gives me genuine anxiety, both when i played it as a kid and again when i reached it as an adult.

botw and totk are not games for me, and that’s cool. i’ve figured that out.

so why am i getting so damn anxious about this new game?

i am getting totk- not entirely of my own volition, i live with someone who is very genuinely excited for it, so it’s pre-ordered digitally on our switch. i am going to play it and complete it at least once.

the gameplay and world of botw never really got to me, and even what snippets of gameplay i see for totk dont really entice me. it just makes me anxious to think about the sheer amount of new stuff i’ll be dropped in the middle of and how i really dont care about this version of link or zelda or anyone else in botw’s hyrule

and some of the story spoiler stuff and general direction this game is going in has me just worried that the zelda series is moving away from what it used to be into an entirely new direction, that being a direction that it seems like i wont enjoy as much as everyone else seems to

so then i guess my main worry outside of totk is that i just end up struggling to really feel connected to the rest of the community about this? being a contrarian is fun until everyone is enjoying something you for some reason can’t get yourself to

i dont have a lot of hope in the story of totk to harken back to… ANYTHING of worth that past games have built up and made to be so important and interesting. hype is a dangerous thing for a not-yet-released game, and while i think the insane amount of speculation and theories and hype around totk will cause a lot of people to be disappointed with the final story, i dunno if i really wouldve liked it even if the story actually piqued my interest

maybe totk’s gameplay will really hook me. maybe i’ll enjoy the massive open world and gmod-ass gimmicks. but what ive seen of the story makes me less interested and the snippets of gameplay i see just make me remember how bored i now am with botw

at the end of the day this is just a video game with tags on this site i can blacklist and videos i can ignore and lore i can brush aside because at this point loz canon is a suggestion more than anything

i just cant shake the discomfort of once again being an outlier as everyone i see loses their mind about this new game while i just feel overwhelmed by it. i have played botw for a long time and have long since worn it out. i played age of calamity to completion and have not touched it or cared for it beyond the music since. i am not excited about totk and i feel like i am in the wrong due to my opinion

i dont see how it would be any spoilers to say this, so ill just come out and do so already! one of the main background ships is geoff/gwen/bridgette. they are just so cute to me, and id like to make it clear the three of them are all dating each other. there is also going to be eva/izzy, of course; and owen/izzy (izzy has two hands). another ship im entertaining the idea of is possibly duncan/dj? but neither of those two are going to have much relevance to the story. actually, funny story, this was supposed to be an alejandro/noah/heather fic, but i totally forgot to tag it as such. im debating on if i want to keep it that way afterall, or have it stay just alenoah.. i guess we'll see the further i write. there is some others but those are a bit spoilery so, stay tuned..!

Al-Haitham, The Jealous Scribe

Just a (not proofread) drabble I wrote a month-ish ago. Its Al-HaithamxMaiya (my oc), but tbh you can also read it as reader since its written in second person. Hope you enjoy! No content warning is needed, just Haitham being Haitham and fluff

--- Al-Haitham who doesn’t understand jealousy because he never experienced it himself, but when he sees Maiya with another man enjoying he can’t help but feel something awkward in his chest.

Al-Haitham who ignores the feelings, saying it must be nothing as he continues to read his book yet the words on the page blur and he can’t read with a clear mind as he sees his woman conversing happily with some man that’s not him.

Al-Haitham who knows that logically she’s just discussing work and socialising as expected of her job yet emotionally he feels strange, almost like something is whispering to him making him want to pull her away from that dude.

Al-Haitham who watches and watches them closely while pretending to read a book, this feeling in him growing more and more until he realises the term for it- jealousy.

Al-Haitham who scoffs at himself, mentally rolling his eyes as he chides himself. Me? Jealous? no way, he thinks, yet a part of him knows that’s exactly what it is.

Al-Haitham who snaps his book close and walks a little over his natural speed up to his wife, whose still engaged in a conversation with the other man. She doesn’t see him approaching as she’s so engrossed in her topic.

Al-Haitham who slowly puts a hand on her lower back and smirks slightly when he hears her soft gasp as he narrows his eyes to look at the man opposite of his wife.

Al-Haitham who tries his best to watch his tongue yet the jealousy seeps into his mouth and he says a few polite words wondering what such topic could occupy his wife completely.

Al-Haitham who turns slightly red when he hears his wife giggle a little as she has probably figured out that he’s jealous. She turns her face around and gently looks at him and he immediately softens.

Al-Haitham who knows it’s irrational to feel this way yet the fingers dig deeper into her skin as he looks back at the man in front of her, whose starting to shake a bit after realising this is the scribe of the Akaydemia.

Al-Haitham who turns red again when he hears his wife giggle harder as she apologises to the man in front of her and introduces him as her husband. The man’s eyes widen further and he stutters.

Al-Haitham whose smirking is very obvious now from how the man seems afraid after knowing the scribe is married to the woman he’s talking to. He watches as his wife assures the guy to not panic.

Al-Haitham who cannot wait for the man to leave and lets out a sigh of relief as he watches the man end the conversation, leaving his wife confused slightly as she sadly says goodbye and tells him she will see him later.

Al-Haitham who scowls when he hears her say so, rolling his eyes mentally as he doesn’t want to think about his wife seeing that man again.

Al-Haitham who denies the accusations his wife brings up, calling him jealous in a playful manner and teasing him saying that he just wanted to make sure she’s safe and alright.

“If thats the case, you should have no problem in me meeting him in the Akaydemia itself right? Since it’s safe there?”

Al-Haitham who grabs her wrist as she pretends to leave and only when she laughs does he realise she was kidding. He turns red further and avoids eye contact at her antics.

“You know I am only yours right?”

Al-Haitham who blushes as she kisses his cheek and wraps her arms around his bicep. No matter how well versed he was in knowledge, his heart was a matter he could never fully comprehend, especially if it belonged to a woman like her.

So I was thinking about the Disney Channel expanding universe, and I wonder if there such a thing as the Warner brothers television expanded universe . Because theoretically, you could claim that in the same universe the show our flag means death ( HBO max is owned by Warner Bros./discovery) and Ted Lasso (produced by warner brothers television) exist.

JDVDJDBRJ I've never watched Ted Lasso but a lot of my mutuals have so here is an analysis of this possibility based only on things I have read about Ted Lasso on the internet:

Ted Lasso has just signed up to coach his first soccer game. It's fine. Everything will go great. He will NOT fail miserably and show tne entire world he has no idea how to coach soccer. It's GREAT. Stede is sure he'll win but Ted pulls through in the last leg and beats him by a literal hair

1. Its all thanks to skulltrot. It took that donnie video of theirs for me to get interested enough into watching the show and now the rest is history. I like went back a month later commenting a thank you on the video since this series really did change my life. Turtles inhabit my brain 24/7 and ive never drawn as much as i have now. Funnily enough, i almost applied to the character design position at nickelodeon for rise as i sat in the break room of my old retail job. 15. What places hold significant meaning or memories for your OC? Do they have a positive or negative association with those places?

Ohhhh no you hit the ramble button. Ok so. To answer that requires a pinch of lore and some Aspen background, which I'll put under a readmore because ilu all:

- Kelpies have to fully submerge themselves in water every few days to survive, for roughly an hour. Any body of water will do, and it doesn't have to be an hour all on one go, but failure to do so is fatal (thats just an oc thing afaik there's no folklore like that? Anyway.)

- Kelpies also have a tense relationship with humans. Most kelpies won't prey on humans. Many of them find it immoral, and those that don't still find it not worth the trouble. Even so, a minority WILL, and both groups often clash over bodies of fresh water, so they regard each other as a threat.

Alright, that out of the way:

When Aspen was a kid (not sure how old yet, but preteen at the latest) she and her family lived in a modest lake near a human village. Both parties were wary of each other, but had a tense truce to just share the fresh water that was crucial for both group's survival, and otherwise avoid each other.

But then a child goes missing, and after a few days of panicked searching, they find the kid's remains in the lake and jump to blaming Aspen's folks. (They had nothing to do with it - the kid was just a tragic accident. Aspen even tried to look for the kid when they caught wind that they'd gone missing)

The villagers are too scared to confront a couple full-grown Kelpies and their foals on their home turf, so they beg their god to take care of the kelpies for them. He agrees in exchange for great praise and tribute. He dispatches the kelpies in a needlessly cruel way: He sprouts a mass of tree limbs and vines from beneath them, ensnaring them and hoisting them up just out of reach of the water. Aspen's parents and younger brother are left to wither away over the course of three days, the water they need to live just barely out of reach. Aspen only escaped the same fate because she wasn't around when the god attacked them - she was still out looking for the lost kid.

She can't do anything for them, and they beg her to run away before the villagers/god find her too.

AL OF THIS TO SAY she holds very intense, complicated emotions about her home. There's lots of precious memories of her family and childhood there, but it's overshadowed by the cruelty and grief.

She has very intensely negative feelings specifically about the old, gnarled tree that's found by the eastern side of the lake, the bark of which still traces the forms of bones and fangs and hooves, that villagers revere as a sign of justice and their god but Aspen knows is nothing but a sick display of cruelty and murder.

She's a very cheery girl.

For a happier note...mm...there's a mountain lake in Keres' territory she likes visiting. The environment itself is pretty different but it still makes her think of home and her family, and she can feel secure in the knowledge that Keres well maintains her territory and just about nothing dares intrude it.

Sometimes Keres will join her, and the two will talk a bit and stargaze

reo isnt like a super active gossiper but like people give her gossip because shes providing advice and shes fun to talk to. so shes like helping people and then girls will come up like OH MY GOOOD REO CAN I TALK TO YOU? and shes like of course ~ so she gets a lot of gossip. also tbh the rakuzan uncrowned kings do gossip among themselves like hayama and nebuya totes complain about people who slight them and while reo might chide them a little shes not gonna stop them u know?

meanwhile takao is like semi popular? and very in the know. also he is intensely incurably nosy and a tiktoker in the making. yes he takes basketball very seriously but once hes done with that ohhh boy. midorima is a constant source of entertainment but while hes been dragged into weirdo world hes sure to somewhat unethically whip out his phone at any and all borderline supernaturally unusual occurrences. hes not a blackmailer though, it’s all for personal chucklefests. he’s liKE are you fr? and when midorima is like YES. (exasperated) hes like oh man i gotta get a load of this but still it surprises him everytime exactly how insane people get. he is not like spreading rumours though mind you, he’s just the one recording them down.

as for erm izuki id say see izuki isnt outwardly nosy by a longshot. he keeps that cool boy tm look on at all times and trying to be rational, tries to avoid succumbing to the temptation of gossip like a devout monk. howeeever if you live with 2 sisters and are a middle child, it is inevitable to be a little interested in strange happenings. and hey look, maybe he can get something out of it? do a little investigation, hang with some friends. he is a little nosy but he thinks its cringe to be too engrossed in gossip. as with all unusual happenings izuki goes mm thats a little weird and decides to either shut up or make a small comment depending on the mood / atmosphere (usually he keeps quiet)

rinnnn i saw ur vent post and omg i know exactly how u feellll. i felt like sharing my take on this kind of situation tbh. i feel like it's not bc there's something lacking about you. there's literally nothing wrong with you bc you're just as deserving of affection as everyone else !! however !! speaking from personal experience, i honestly think that this sorta thing happens bc the person you're in the relationship with is most likely faking everything, like they're maybe only in the relationship (platonic romantic whatever it may be) just cause they feel like they have to yk, like it's a chore for them. this happened to me before and it sucks so bad, trust me i felt like i wasn't enough as well, i questioned myself constantly. but i realized there's nothing wrong with me, they're just not feeling me the same way i'm feeling them, but that's js their personal issue ! cause if you can give soooo much to smb else, you should be able to do the same with me, but since you're not, that just tells me that you're most likely js being fake. ik it's the worst feeling ever, but in my honest opinion u deserve smmmm love, poetry letters, flowers, and to be called pretty just as much !! if they can't give that to you then it's definitely that person who's lacking fr.

i think since u know what direction u want u shd definitely lean into this angle of having a morally grey villain or someone who portrays them as such or may not even be aware of either extent or their morality! either ways its a rlly good thing to know what u want and how u want to express ideas!! ^W^ no matter what type of writing clarity is important

also mm yea personally i dont read a lot of stories w villains i realised? i like tokusatsu where theres a lot clearer good vs bad but i havent watched a lot of the recent entries w more moral ambiguity so i couldnt offer much on a personal front. i guess i like them because theyre evil n nasty n interesting sometimes n like also i like magneto too!! :D i find i pesonally agree w his ideas but i also think how different writers portray magneto, his beliefs, background and try to skew them rlly reflects interestingly on how they view the ideas he represents, just off topic but neat stuff.

although i do think yea in writing n commentary villains can serve actually a rlly important role in reflecting peoples opinions, biases ect. back on them ah but thats getting off topic

in response about the enemies to friendsish thing actually i encountered the same issue!!! :DDD albeit it was cough a knb ship (i dont think anyone knows what it is) so if i may offer my personal insight i think having obv similarities always works. for me i found my two characters were more similar than theyd liked to admit but when in their usual environments surrounded by their peers they were super unlikely to interact so i put them in a different environment! sometimes what u need is smth to kickstart their interest in each other! an encounter that exposes smth worth talking about. like for me the more villainous character realises the more "heroic" character is actually more than a boring farce n finds an opportunity to corrupt him n the heroic character wants to resist this but himself returns because of the villains intelligence n their similar points. it leads them to enter a sort of cat n mouse game into each others minds. but thats cuz my characters i was working w were more intellectual

BUTTT the gist is basically ur allowed to do a little deus ex machina or have smth thats out of their control give them the opportunity to choose to interact n stuff. not all the time ofc important advancements n influence shd be made frm autonomous actions of the characters but a little coincidence never hurts!

ive briefly dipped my toes in writing before but ive never had enough clarity to write anything good tbh!! but i do like helping others edit if i can!!

i for sure get that about liking clearer bad/evil characters!! i really can’t think of any i also don’t read a lot of villain stories i realize! but for knb hanamiya is so hard for me to look away from he’s so funny and i really wanna know why he’s the way he is dhjdshfj. magneto!!!! love that ur a comic fan!!!!! my last url was eriklehnsherrgf hes the best heh. ooo that’s really interesting about different ways writers portray him and his beliefs representing their own views… i also think our writing and thoughts on characters and which we’re drawn to and which we dislike can reflect a lot, especially biases. i really like talking about it; why myself and others are drawn to certain characters and dislike others… what do we find in them and what are we looking for. and our own art we create is so often a self-portrait, right?

a knb ship oooooo! are you writing a fic for them? so u ARE a writer!!!!! or a future writer!!! fdjfdfgjh but that sounds so cool lab! i really like the detail about how in their usual environments w friends they’re unlikely to interact despite being quite similar… i don’t know how to articulate it but i really find this interesting in fiction/media… two people who could have a close relationship if they were just to go outside of their usual environment, and the significant role being surrounded by their peers in said environment plays. and then something pushes them out of the familiar, often by force, and our story begins, right? i love the “an encounter that exposes something worth talking about” line, so lovely. something worth talking about!

much of it is about change, and putting your characters in situations that force change, and thus character development? it’ll be fun to see what the new situation/environment brings out in your characters, what they bring out in one another when they’re finally able to interact alone. i wonder if there are things only the other person can bring out in themselves. 

i love characters seeing one another in a different light, realizing there's more to the person they disliked then originally thought. ESPECIALLY when its the more villainous character seeing something that draws them into their heroic counterpart. OO THE OPPORTUNITY TO CORRUPT HIM im getting nervous nd excited!! so theres a unignorable interest there on the villianous characters side!! i wonder what makes them want to corrupt the “heroic” character!! a more sort of twisted, self-interested and self-indulgent desire to bring out something darker in them or more genuine interest in the heroic character.. or both or something else?… hm!!!!
