For drawing, how do you decide when to directly make lines or use shading to imply the shape?

mmmm this is confusing me a bit, but i think what you mean is how do i know when to do lineart or to just paint over my sketch?

to me it depends if the sketch is already clean anough i just go over with base colors, shading if i'm feeling fancy then combine all layers and go to town

other times i like the sketch but is too dirty and i feel like spending more time in it so i go with lineart, the sketch has to be really really messy or incomprehensible for me to want to do lines jaja i really want to skip to color most of the time

Remember when I said I was bored at the airport? Yea... the flight wasn't any better. The plane had some technical difficultys so we flew one and a half hour later.

Mmmm I think you can remind yourself that ‘less is more’ ?

I don’t add lines on lines when I was doing lineart, but it also depends on which style you like, messy lineart could be an awesome artwork too !
