hii just sending some positivity if anyone needs it; about three years ago (mb 4 idk) me and another aro guy i met got an apartment together and its been great. no romance no pressure for romance nothing.

we’re not in a qpr we’re just friends who live together and neither of us are interested in being together or with anyone else and we’re very happy with our situation and its unlikely to ever change. several years ago i was hopeless thinking i could never be happy without romance but im the happiest ive ever been and im comfortable with who i am and where i am.

i could live my whole life like this and i wouldnt change w thing :) we’re happy and comfortable.

so uh. you guys can do it. its possible. you dont have to date anyone you dont need a qpr you can just be yourself. and sometimes it just kinda works out and three years later you realize you’re where you wanna be.

Amatonormativity is so fucking isolating. How do I trust anyone when I know I’ll probably be dropped in favor of romantic relationships?

i think we just have to take that chance and trust that the connections we build are stronger than that. yeah amatonormativity sucks but unless you want to interact with other aros exclusively for the rest of your life, it's going to affect you forever. society works on relationships, so our relationships are the only thing that can change it

being aromantic explains a lot about me, like it really explains me not being able to understand why people wanted more out of me in relationships, I mean I’m not good in relationships in general because I pull away after a bit, but I always thought I was just supposed to be a great friend, not do lovey dovey stuff with these people. I’m glad I understand that now :))

Mind if I scream into the void for a minute?

I jump around venues for work, as Event Staff. My favorite venue is the Theatre. I love meeting the crews and casts that perform there; I love meeting most of the patrons that attend; I love listening to the shows and their music.

There's this one guy who works for the building at concessions. He's pretty nice, but he makes me uncomfortable. At first I thought it was social anxiety, but I know it's not that.

A few shows ago, late last year, he asked how old I am. I told him and he said I was too young for him. Cool. I thought it was said and done: Back to greeting each other in passing. Nope! Tonight, after not taking a hit for almost a full 1.5 hours, he said, and these are his exact words, "Something keeps attracting me to you, if I may be so bold."

Gross, ew, no thanks.

I hate that a full body shiver (that I suppressed because rules of hospitality wouldn't let me seem rude, even if I'm not a host or guest) was my response to that.

I'm thinking I might be romance repulsed, but idk for sure. Like, I've been asked out before and the guy was pretty understanding when I told him I wasn't interested, and we're still friends. I didn't have this kinda reaction to him. This time, though, it's just- ick.

I've never been a fan of romance, though I like it in certain types of media, and I've always been neutral to the topic. (At least, I thought. Looking back, the idea of me being romantically involved with someone has always made me uncomfortable, even way before I even knew 'Aromantic' was a term.)

Idk. I'm ranting at this point. Idk if I'm romance repulsed or not or if there's another label. What I do know is that I hate confrontation and there's no way I can handle this situation, short of finding another job, that doesn't make my favorite venue beyond awkward to work at.

I’m aroace and was just browsing the aroace tag when I came across a few exclusionist posts & now I’m feeling… idk. Weird, I guess.

Am I welcome on this blog, even though I’m also ace? I’ve been reblogging posts from here because I recently realized I was aro and wanted to engage with & explore that side of my identity, but if as many aro people as they indicated don’t want aroace people around in their aro spaces, would it be better to just… leave the aromantic tag and blogs altogether? I don’t want to take away from people who are aroallo. I’ve seen it done time and again and don’t want to be some kind of… invasive species or something.

I am holding your face so gently. you belong in aro spaces. don't let exclusionists tell you otherwise. your experience is unique and valuable and there is not a single romantic, sexual, or gender orientation that takes that away. Ik being an aro adult can suck but as a high schooler im having the time of my life. my friends are panicking over crushes and im giggling and kicking my feet at fish facts and if anyone brings up dating I can just go “im too young” and it’s a valid answer.

Each time I hear "but aro people can date!!!!" I lose more and more blood vessels because YEAH they can but A. Majority of those times those relationships are fundementally different from allo ones and aren't just 1 - 1, and B. a good majority don't!!!!!! Like that is a minority!!!!!!! Aromanticism is a spectrum and not everyone falls hard on the side that includes dating and I'm just. I'm so tired of but they can still date being constantly brought up because it feels less like it's trying to raise awareness for the aros that can and more like you're just undermining the fact that I don't ..
