the way each character nicknames others is so interesting to see.
ritsu: takes the 1st syllable of the first name, extends it and adds -kun. (eg. maa-kun, haa-kun)
exceptions: secchan, ecchan, suuchan, nacchan (arashi didn't like "nakkun"), mikarin (let's face it mikarin is way cute)
sena:
if you're in his year and not close to him you get no respect and get called by last name with no honorifics. this changes when he becomes closer to you. then you get a cute nickname (nazunyan, kao-kun). exception: kuma-kun (he came up with kuma-kun by accident bc he didn't hear ritsu's full name. probably added the -kun bc he was more polite back then and maybe it stuck).
if you're his junior, you automatically get called (first or surname)-kun. whether he uses first or last name might depend on how close he is to your seniors. (tomoya-kun and hajime-kun vs harukawa-kun). exceptions: yuu-kun (yuu-kun), isara (you're in trickstar with yuu-kun), kasa-kun (you're in knights), naru-kun (knights), momo-kun (you're his club junior so, like kasa-kun, you get bullied and also a nickname), takamine (no idea, maybe he caught sena on a bad day), fushimi (maybe his association to eichi?)
arashi:
seniors: (last name)-senpai unless she's close to you or you're oshi-san
juniors and year mates: (first name)-chan. exceptions: tetora-kun (he doesn't like -chan)
leo: if he's going to change your name up, you have two options.
1) did he just check out of the conversation while you were introducing yourself, or did he give you a nickname right off the bat? (nazu, naru, suo)
2) pun. (tenshi, shiro, obaa-chan)
exceptions: kohaku-kun (you're suo's yuu-kun), nacchan, mama, rittsu, mittsu (mitsuru) bc mitsuru is a genius superstar and leo somehow remembered his name despite meeting only like once and them not even being in the same year. he actually remembered his whole name and "mittsu" is a deliberate nickname, unlike what happened with nazuna's "nazu".
either way, he's going to pronounce your name weird and it'll be in katakana.
nazuna: (occasionally shortened first name)-chin. unless he has reason to be wary of you, then like sena he'll use surname without honorifics
mikejimama: (first name)-san for literally everyone, whether it's your first meeting or you're close associates or friends. it's a nice middle ground between overstepping boundaries (jumping straight to first name) and maintaining distance (-san) and it makes me feel many things.
