Gonna talk about some things I loved from the season 2 finale because while I understand peoples feelings of grief, you’re all valid, the episode had beautiful moments that I want to commend the actors for:

- As an Asian woman who grew up with high expectations, Auntie telling Zheng she’s proud of her was such a wonderful healing moment. Also Olu and Auntie finding common ground to get along (they both love Zheng!!)

- We got a new letter from Stede with such sweet poetry and it’s wonderful to see Ed’s weepy reaction to it realizing his love for Stede was always strong despite their trauma wrenching them apart so many times

- Spanish Jackie having the BIGGEST BALLS OF THEM ALL and poisoning the entire tavern, cackling menacingly while they all keel over and Swede’s reverse Wesley moment of learning he’s been building up an immunity to poison this whole time he’s been with Jackie

- Stede and Ed running to each other on the beach, and just like the full moon metaphor, the world is just kind of normal and overcast and not tinged with a golden sunset like in Stede’s dream, it’s not the perfect moment but it’s theirs and the love between them is real.

- Archie and Jim’s kiss while they’re getting suited up!!! They love each other so much!!!

Oh boy. Wanna guess what tumblr crowdfunding scammers are up to now?

I just got an ask from a user who claimed to be from Palestine, trying to pay for insulin for her diabetic mother while sheltering from the bombs.

Of course, when I went to the blog to vet it (remember, you should be suspicious ANY time a stranger messages you to share their crowdfunding post), every single red flag for a crowdfunding scam was there - most tellingly, as usual, the blog was nothing but a few high note count reblogs, presumably from the trending page, reblogged over the past day. As a subtler detail, the user's alleged worldview based on those reblogs was also...surprisingly US-centric for someone in Palestine, much like what should have tipped people off about hivliving sooner, though that may have been a coincidence from carelessly reblogging randomly from the trending page, as some of the other scam blogs I've seen and reported have reblogged hardcore leftist posts AND pro-Tr*mp posts back-to-back...

So, after seeing that, in knowing that a lot of people on tumblr are very inclined to try to help in disasters on an individual level, I felt the need to use it as a safety reminder.

Remember: there are assholes in the world who are NOT above using real-world disasters to try to grift you. Please remember to be skeptical of ANYONE who "cold-calls" you for help with a crowdfunding campaign. Check how old their blog is. Look deeper than just "does it have posts and a bio?" to figure out if this is a real person. If they have no other original posts, not even an "about me" or anything, and all their reblogs are a day or two old, IT IS A SCAM. Do not do anything they ask. Just report them.

not to be sappy on main but getting to share all our thoughts and theories and things we've noticed about the various promo materials on here and watch it inspire so much creativity and puzzle-solving and pure joy has been one of the most incredible online fandom experiences I've ever had and I'm feeling very lucky in this chilis tonight that I've been able to be a part of a community filled with as much brilliance and warmth as the silly little pirate show is 🖤

Look, I get that people want Our Flag Means Death to get a second season. I think it’s tacky to make these kinds of tweets in response to shows like Barry or whatever, but like, I understand the passion, misdirected as it is.

But A Black Lady Sketch Show is literally the only show of its kind — even moreso than OFMD, it’s doing something no one else on television is doing, centering Black women as no other show does. And despite being hugely successful and a showcase for rising talent as well as established stars, it does not have the Tumblr Darling status of OFMD. (BTW, if you happen to now have HBO Max, you know what you could try watching? That’s right! A Black Lady Sketch Show! You might enjoy it!)

To flood the social media presence of one show with demands about a completely unrelated show is, as Spanish Jackie says, fuckin’ kinda gauche. To do this to the only show on TV right now that’s entirely about and by Black women? I think you know exactly what that is.
