I swear to god I would rather eat this book than study it right now. I am sooo siiiiiiick of school work. Love working the trade and helping fams, but the books can eat it! I can’t wait to just. Be working without all the after hours studying. It’s super hard working full time and doing full time school also.
*screams* *flips table* *throws chair* I just wanna write my goddamn book!!!!!!
Ok. Now that I have had my tantrum. I’m gonna suck it up and study till I die. 😎
#lunar chatter#listen man. sometimes. ya just need a good angry post#I have a meltdown I swear at the start of every term#and somehow always get through it#pray for me lmfao#mortuary science#mortuary school#funeral#funeral industry#funeral director

corporate funeral home victim
I figure that maybe while I'm waiting to graduate I can put all my death care ranting here- I've always wanted to write a book or start a social media page or a blog because there's so much in this industry I have a lot of commentary on. Most people in my life won't really hear me out or don't really get it, and I've always wanted a place to organize my thoughts. A lot of my philosophy really builds on the works of Jessica Mitford with a combination of plenty of good-spirited criticisms of Caitlin Doughty. I just have lots of thoughts and visions and dreams !!! Who knows I might flesh out my whole non-profit funeral home plan more here :)

forgot to write about this but ystd at school we got to go to one of the medical colleges in our institute campus (many schools & colleges of various fields & hostels are all inside this campus)
they showed us the anatomy museum with various human specimens and it was so so interesting!! and so cool to see how it was all preserved. there was an entire row to see different stages of a fetus, disordered and normal. also the stored limbs were interesting to see too, since they were as preserved as they could be, with even the wrinkles on the fingertips seen.
next we went to the dissection hall to see real cadavers. since it was a medical college, bodies donated for scientific study are constantly used for learning & practice of the students - and various cadavers were placed on the examination tables. only the torsos were kept and many body organs were already dissected so we got to see the fat and other organs and muscles and parts of the skeleton up close.
also did a quick look in the cadaver room where all the dissected organs and stuff were placed in tanks. that got my eyes burning because the smell was really intense but the whole experience was sooooo fascinating.
i'd been losing a bit of interest in biology recently but this got me back into it lol.
but all of this got me genuinely interested and curious in all the procedures, not necessarily from the medical perspective (not interested in pursuing this field) but rather the research perspective (the field i acc wanna go into). i wasn't bothered either by any of the sights and smells like a few others (who i do not blame at all, it can all be very uncomfortable for some people), it did burn a bit at moments but i could see myself getting used to it.
and now i may or may not be suddenly interested in mortuary science....

I think it's cool you wanna be a mortician :o I watched some videos online of a mortician answering questions and stuff and it was so fascinating. I def don't think that job would be for me cuz I'm squeamish but I wish you luck on your journey because we need people like you in the world to comfort the mourning and send the dead off in peace! :)
thanks so much for the ask! i'm glad that my work reaches you! it's definitely a really rewarding & passion-driven career field -- i haven't met anyone who is in this field because they felt like it, it's definitely a calling. i was a thanatologist long before i was a mortuary science student, so death culture is something i've always been really drawn to. being able to offer that little extra bit of comfort during the unthinkable is a passion of mine as well as my fascination with death & how we as a culture view death & grieve.

end of semestester crisis
I don't remember if I posted about it on Vent at all, but I guess that doesn't matter because it's gone now- but it's been so difficult for me to look at anything mortsci related or listen to my peers talk about their experiences at the funeral home, I get so unbelievely depressed & jealous. I just get insane fomo !! ever since the funeral home let me go last year I've been desperate to get back in the field.
I was supposed to be finished with school next semester and starting an apprenticeship, but I was devestated to find out that my gratuation date is being pushed back an entire year- apparently our mortuary science program is doing really poorly, students can't pass their classes, and only a few students ever graduate. I go to an absoutely incredible well respected school, but our school is incredibly rigorous with us, it's common that students spend 4-5 years to finish an associate's degree compared to other funeral service programs. As a result, our program is on probation and they're restructuring everything. The one course I need to finish is now only available during the summer, and I'm truly losing my mind.
I just want to be embalming already- funeral homes won't take me right now because they want me to be finished with school first, I just can't work full time with my school schedule, but it's soul crushing that I'm so close to the end & the goal post keeps moving.
In other news, we turned in our Restorative Art heads the other week! I actually have photos from throughout the semester as I was working on it, so when I get it back I think it would be cool to have them all side by side to see the progress !! I just have some final touches I need to add :p

Popping back in to say I’m still alive. Might come back at some point. Especially since I’m already tempted to write about a couple of vore crushes I have.
…Which might include one of my own D&D characters. And an FBI agent. I will let you guess who the latter is.

YOUR NEWEST FIC OH MY GOD everyone should agree with kenta metal erosion my boy💔
yesss it's so fun
more people need to write stuff with the phantometal lore we've got, it's all so interesting... maybe I'm just missing them but more metal erosion fic my beloved
#I've kind of accidentally on purpose created a trilogy of kenta erosion fics#that all get progressively angstier#and like I would take it all the way and go for four but#as someone who owns three caitlin doughty books frequently checks if their friends know their death plans and considered mortuary school#it's safe to say I would get super mega distracted#I'm just gonna keep the embalming symbolism... in my back pocket... maybe one day...
